little daniel imagine, with the '“where’s the new coffee mix?” “i’ll tell you if you tell me where you put the keys?” “i TOLD you i don’t know where—”' prompt <3
a/n: thank you for the ask, anon! hope you enjoy!<3🌼pick a prompt:)
you get up a few minutes past seven o’clock, shuffling out of bed behind daniel, out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. the sky, as the sun rose not too long ago, is still wearing its coat of muted pink and yellow, and natural light welcomes itself into your home in narrow streaks onto the floors and kitchen countertops. daniel is first to wake up, sleepily mumbling something about wanting to get to tour rehearsals early, and with the help of his convincing smile and guarantee of breakfast, you hop out of bed as well.
it isn't unusual for the two of you to be grumpy in the morning, only sharing slight smiles and little morning kisses and a touch of conversation while you work through your routines to get ready for the day…at least until there is cooked food and warm drinks on the table.
honestly, if it wasn't for the tempting promise of hot, home-cooked breakfast, which you gladly agreed for daniel to make, the pair of you would still be in bed, lured in under the warm sheets and blankets, fighting off the wintry morning chill. your slight grumpiness has progressed into an obvious agitation, furrowed brows and all, at the absence of your keys from their usual spot near the entryway.
daniel’s cooking as you breeze around the house looking for them, showing half-hearted concern and asking simple questions that honestly tick you off even more. “are you sure you haven’t seen them?” you call, halfway across the living room as your eyes scan every possible fraction of space and object in sight.
“yep, no idea” daniel dismisses, unknowingly receiving an annoyed huff in return, his voice muffled by the sound of the kitchen cabinets and drawers rolling open one by one only to be shut again as he tries to find the jar of coffee that would usually be sitting in one of the shelves.
he puts breakfast on the table anyway, two two mini stacks of pancakes and berries for each of you, and although daniel is proud of his culinary work at such an early hour, his limbs still tired and eyes still groggy, you aren’t so pleased at the absence of your necessary cup of coffee. the edge of your voice is ever so obvious as you pace around the house, looking for other things you’d somehow misplaced from your shoes to your lip balm back to your keys, murmuring out a “thank you,” followed by a “where’s my coffee?” as you glance at the food in front of you.
“where’s the new coffee mix?” he counters.
“i’ll tell you if you tell me where you put the keys?”
the two of you attempt a staring contest, a battle of who can hold their frowning expressions the longest without faltering, before you just decide to search together. daniel loses, sighing in frustration before he moves to check around the kitchen one more time, “i TOLD you i don’t know where—”' his words are cut off, eyes rolling at the sight of your keys in the cutlery drawer. “how did they even get in here?” he questions, keys hanging off his finger in the air.
an easy smile graces your lips, as if a frown had never been there, and the morning grumpiness melts away as you cheekily pluck the keys from his hand before plopping down at your seat to eat….”the coffee’s in the pantry, first shelf on the right” you say through a mouthful of food.

Hard|Corbyn Besson

Series: 8 Letters by Why Don’t We
Title: Hard
Song(s): Hard by Why Don’t We
Warning(s): None
Summary: Where he’s tired of being her second choice
He shouldn’t be feeling the feelings he felt, he knew things like this doesn't usually work out. He also knew it was bound to happening, maybe that's way he was glad he wasn't always around and the fact that she had started to see someone. It all sorta happened to fast one moment he wanted nothing more than for her to be happy and the second he wanted to be the one brining her an endless amount of joy. He started to cave the feeling of her hands on his skin, the sound of her sweet voice at ever moment of every day. He feel and boy did Corbyn fall hard.
He tried to convince himself that he didn’t care if she showed up tonight or not, that even if she did he wouldn’t be thinking about her. The second she stepped into the room everything felt lighter, brighter even as he watched her scan the crowd before landing her eyes on him. The way her smile brighten and that little skip to her step did she when she was excited. His fingers where twitching in anticipation of having her wrapped up in his arms, even if just a second.
That’s when he saw him, the guy holding her hands so loosely as if the tighter he held on the more pain he’d feel. The hands belonged to a face he’d thought he'd never see, the oner person he remembered her saying she’d never wanted to be involved with. “Corbyn!” her voice broke through the crowd as she threw herself in his hold, a soft smile playing on his face as she giggled softly.
“Hey.”
He didn't know what to say, what he could he? Oh, hey I’m so in love with you and seeing you with him again breaks me? No, that wasn’t an option it’ll never be an option. He knew they had a past, a past. she wouldn’t talk about and one he wasn't going to be forcing her to talk about.
“You remember Nathan right?” she asked tugging the man forward as he nodded his head. The amount of shook he felt wasn’t something he was prepared for.
The night went on has he had expected it too, his thoughts constantly trained on her. His hands shaking as ever passing second sending him into a nerve wreaking mess. It wasn’t long before she was breaking her way through the crowd to him, tears streaming down her face as her stood quickly running to meet her half away.
“It’s okay.” he breathed out through her loud sobs. Everyone around watching knowing just what was happening, it happened way too often for their group of friends not to know. “I’m right here.”
She had blocked his number, something he learned wasn't new. According to Ellie it happened a lot, each time it happened she’d call him. Never once would she actually say his name but she would ask his opinions on certain situations. It never got to the point where it had now, to a point where she jumped on a plane and deemed that school had just gotten overwhelming and she needed a break.
Corbyn knew better, maybe that's why he knew this cycle had to end. He had to end it because he was hurting himself but pretending to be just what she needed for a night. He was tired of being second choice and just another bystander in a situation he had no business in being in.
“I can’t do this anymore..” he breathed out as she walked into the room, robe wrapped tightly around her as she tilted her head to the side. “I can’t keep being here to pick up the pieces each time he breaks your heart.”
“Corbyn.”
“Please just listen.” he begged her as she nodded her head and chewing on the inside of her lip. “I love you, God I love you so damn much. I can’t be here each time to just hold your hand, it hurts me to see you like this.”
“Don’t do this.”
“I’m sorry I can’t be second choice anymore.”

June 19, 2026
Daniel hopped up the front steps of the farmhouse with a whistle on his lips, letting himself inside and tossing his keys in the bowl by the front door. The warm spring day had him busy with helping a few people around Lincoln with various tasks from mending the roof of a chicken coop to re-wiring a property line fence. He was more than relieved to finally be home as he kicked off his boots and headed down the hallway to follow the sound of the television.
The two-and-a-half-year-old sitting on the couch was hypnotised by the colourful show playing across the room and didn’t even notice Daniel’s entry. So he headed to the kitchen first to greet Blythe who was preparing dinner.
“Hey, you.” she smiled and welcomed his quick kiss to her lips.
“Hey, sugar. How was your day?” Daniel wrapped his arms around her waist.
“Busy. Flint didn’t want to nap.” Blythe said, tracing his fingers up his arms.
“He giving you a hard time?”
“Not really. He’s just persistent with that pacifier though.”
Daniel pressed a kiss to her temple, “We really gotta wean him off of that.”
“I know. I’d ask Lennox since he’s so good with that but he’s busy.”
Daniel let her go and she returned to dinner preparation. He glanced around the main floor, “Where is he?”
“In his room studying.” Blythe answered casually.
With an appreciative kiss to her cheek, Daniel left her to make dinner and he stopped by the living room to greet his toddler. Flint was tucked up on the couch and wrapped in his green blanket, sucking happily on his pacifier as he watched tv. Daniel came over and linked a finger in the plastic and pulled it from his son’s mouth in quick exchange for a few kisses to his chubby freckled cheek.
“Dada.” Flint reached for his pacifier and made little grabby hands at it.
“Either I take it or your brother takes it.” Daniel whispered to him.
The two-year-old blinked at him, processing his words, and then slumped back against the couch with a whine. Flint never liked to disappoint his big brother. Daniel smiled and ruffled his youngest son’s light brown hair and then headed for the stairs with the pacifier linked around his pinky.
Before heading into the master bedroom to get changed out of his work clothes, Daniel stopped by Lennox’s room to say hi. The door was closed but he easily turned the handle and let himself in.
He barely got a single “hey” out of his mouth before his eyes landed on his son kissing someone on his bed.
He was kissing Noah Herron on his bed.
Lennox was nearly on top of him but the boys suddenly threw themselves apart at the surprise interruption, Lennox’s notebook tumbling to the floor with a clatter. Daniel’s eyes were wide, staring at them for a beat, before he was closing the door again just as quickly as he had opened it.
“Do you knock?!” Lennox shouted panickily from inside.
Daniel stayed perfectly silent, hand still on the doorknob and his eyes blown wide in shock. He lingered there a moment, unsure of what to even think, before taking a step back, holding his hand to his head in near embarrassed regret, and hurried off back down the hallway.
At thirteen-years-old, Lennox was starting to explore new aspects of life and his hockey teammate seemed to be one of these things. Noah was only a year older and as they grew up, Lennox started to get butterflies in his stomach at simply the sight of him. It seemed that Noah was no different as the empty locker room after games or practices was the perfect place for shy sneaky kisses.
Not to mention Lennox’s room when Noah would come over to study (or vise versa) and their books would lay long forgotten about on the bed. Each time they shared a kiss, Lennox felt himself easing into the familiarity of it all a little better. This time, with the room to themselves and Daniel gone for who knew how long, Lennox let himself lean in towards Noah for another hit of that dopamine that came from his addictive kisses.
The boys were young and inexperienced but fueled by early pubescent desire, everything just felt so good. Lennox dropped his pen onto his notebook to have a hand free to slide into the back of Noah’s brown hair, kissing him strongly until Noah was pushing his tongue into his mouth. Lennox felt on fire as he opened up a little and let the older boy lead, sitting side by side until hands were pulling each other closer. The bedroom was easily filled with the sound of their ungraceful messy kisses and Lennox crawled over top of him and Noah slouched back against the headboard.
Their lips and tongues moulded together sloppily, almost missing half the time, but they couldn’t get enough. Lennox couldn’t get enough. He was dreaming, or so it felt like.
The world was so hazy that all he could focus on was the electric warmth of Noah’s lips on his and the feeling of his hands on his waist…tuned out away from the sound of footsteps on the stairs. The sound of the door opening had Lennox reacting with frightened instinct, throwing himself off Noah with a gasp, only to see his father in the doorway.
The Seavey boys stared at each other for a mere half second with mirrored faces of shock before Daniel was leaving just as quickly and shutting the door without another word.
To hide his overwhelming embarrassment, Lennox shouted after him, “Do you knock?!”
There was a silence that fell over the blue painted room and Lennox felt sick. He literally felt sick with dread.
He looked over to Noah slowly and the boys shared similar nervous expressions as if they had just been caught committing a heinous crime. Lennox hadn’t told his father anything about Noah…about boys…about anything and he was already plotting away to never have to leave his room to face him ever again. He was very much starting to panic.
For the remaining hour until Noah was to go home, the boys barely spoke and yet barely got any work done. Lennox’s nerves were rubbing off on both of them and Noah was more than relieved to hear his father’s car horn beep from the driveway. He hurried to put his books in his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.
“Walk me out?” Noah asked.
Lennox nodded stiffly and followed him out of his room and down the stairs into the foyer. Lennox was on high alert for his father as Noah tied his shoes up and he kept glancing down the hallway. He felt like he was doing something so terribly bad and keeping it from his father only made him feel worse.
Noah stood tall in front of Lennox - well at least that’s what it felt like since he maybe only had an inch over the Seavey boy - and he leaned down to kiss the corner of his mouth quickly.
“I’ll see ya.” Noah said before rushing out of the door and down the front steps to the driveway. Zach barely gave the farmhouse a glance as his son climbed in the passenger seat and hugged his backpack to his chest.
Lennox watched them drive off.
He lingered on the front porch for a moment, debating running and hiding back upstairs or sucking it up and facing the looming conversation that would inevitably happen the moment he saw his father. He was sweating. He couldn’t breathe. He paced the porch a little before finally resorting to sitting at the top of the small flight of stairs and held his face in his hands, desperately swallowing back the lump in his throat.
He didn’t know what to expect. Yelling? Disappointment? Being kicked out even? Where would he go if he was kicked out? They lived in the middle of nowhere! Lennox’s left leg bounced restlessly as his mind whirled with any possible escape plan and his hands tugged at his brown hair to try and move the agonizing pain in his chest and the ache of his stomach into some other distraction. Just remembering the embarrassment of it had the young teenager shuttering at himself.
The sound of the front door opening had Lennox hiding into his knees and each steady footfall across the wood porch and to the top of the stairs beside him had Lennox scrunching his eyes closed tighter and tighter as if to try and completely disappear. He peeked down through the gap in his folded arms and recognized his father’s cowboy boots stepping down next to him. Lennox didn’t move. He hardly breathed.
Daniel sat down on the porch steps beside him with a soft exhale. Neither of them spoke for a moment, letting the late afternoon sun try to ease their stresses.
“So…” Daniel said awkwardly, pausing to clear his throat for a moment, “I think that was a little awkward for both of us, hm?”
Lennox kept his head in his arms.
“Spud.” Daniel called gently.
There was no answer.
“Spud, look at me.” Daniel said softly and petted his hand over his son’s messy brown hair. “Please?”
Lennox sniffled and raised his head slowly, revealing his blue eyes shimmering with tears and his lips fallen into an anxious pout.
“Hey.” Daniel frowned in concern, “What’s with the tears?”
“I’m sorry.” Lennox sobbed out, taking himself by surprise even, and he pressed the back of his hand to his mouth as he cried.
Daniel shuffled closer on the front porch step and right away pulled his son into a hug, one arm securely around his back and the other holding his head against his shoulder, “What do you have to be sorry for?”
Lennox only cried on, staining his father’s shirt in tears, and choking over his breath.
“Talk to me, Spud.” Daniel pressed gently.
“I’m sorry that I-I- that I kissed a boy.” Lennox stumbled out.
“Lennox Blake.” Daniel tisked. “Why the hell would you apologize for that, huh?”
“Because it’s…because I dunno.” Lennox sniffled.
“Because nothing, okay?” Daniel corrected. “Because you don’t need to apologize for that.”
“I don’t want you to hate me!” Lennox cried, clinging onto his father so tightly as if it were to be the last time.
Daniel pressed a strong kiss to the top of his boy’s head and spoke quietly right to that same spot, “There is nothing you could do in this world that will make me love you any less than I do, yet alone hate you.”
“You looked like you hated me!” Lennox protested, shifting back from him slightly to look his father in the eye, “You just…left and…you…you didn’t even say anything!”
“Spud.” Daniel chuckled lightly. “I just walked in on my kid making out with someone on his bed. I wasn’t going to hang around. I’d have the same reaction if it was a girl or a boy or whoever. You just…startled me. I didn’t know we were there yet…with relationships and stuff. I would have thought you’d come talk to me when you had your first real crush so I wouldn’t have to find out in such a weird way like this.”
“I was scared.” Lennox admitted softly.
Daniel draped his arm around his shoulders and nodded him on, “Why were you scared?”
Lennox habitually leaned in to him and wiped his eyes with the heel of his palm, “Cuz I didn’t know what you’d say. We never, like, spoke of…men…boys…like that and…in this small town it’s, like, so much…not-welcomeness sometimes to new things and…I didn’t know. I was scared you would be upset or just see me different and I didn’t…I don’t…want you to see me different.”
Daniel shook his head without hesitation, “Never. Never ever. I’ve looked at you no different since the first day your tiny little wrinkly face was laid in my arms. You’re my son. My blood. My rock, right? My one constant and there is absolutely nothing that would sway my love for you. Ever.”
Lennox nodded.
Daniel set his hand on the back of his son’s neck and pulled his forehead against his as Lennox let out a blubbery little sob. The thirteen year old scrunched his eyes shut and Daniel rubbed his thumb over the path of his hairline and kept him close.
“You don’t ever have to be scared of me.” Daniel whispered. “I promise you. I’m dad. I’ll always be dad.”
Lennox shuttered in a breath and nodded. Daniel pulled his head down into the crook of his neck and held him close as Lennox clung onto him and quieted his tears in his father’s warm embrace.
“I love you.” Lennox mumbled.
“I love you more, my shining star.” Daniel whispered, brushing his hand over his son’s hair gently, “And Mom loves you. So much.”
“I told her first.” Lennox admitted.
Daniel leaned away from him and the Seavey boys dropped from their hug to look at each other. Daniel wiped his thumb over his son’s teary cheek, “Figured. You tell Mom everything. I know that.”
“And…” Lennox twisted the hem of his t-shirt, “Blythe knows too.”
Daniel’s eyes went wide, “Blythe knows? For how long?”
“Couple weeks. Maybe two.” Lennox shrugged.
“You told Blythe before me? You didn’t even like her when you first met her.”
“Stop always bringing that up.” Lennox laughed lightly. “It just...came up, I guess. I told her not to tell you though. Just said that I kissed someone and I just kinda told her who it was. She said you’d have a heart attack because it was Zach’s boy.”
“Shh,” Daniel raised his arm that was around Lennox’s shoulder to press to his son’s mouth casually, “I’m trying to ignore the fact that you chose a Herron.”
Lennox flushed pink through his laughter and pried his father’s hand off his mouth, “I just...happened.”
“You could have any nice boy in Lincoln...any nice boy in the county...in the state...and you chose a Herron.” Daniel was only teasing and Lennox knew this well.
He shuffled up closer to his father and draped his arm around his shoulder as well to lean his head against his and the Seavey boys stared out over their property as the sun nearly reached the horizon. There was a calm orange glow to the world in that moment and even though neither of them spoke it aloud, they both felt Marigold there with them.
Daniel broke the serene moment first, “So are you dating then or…”
“Dad.” Lennox blushed, taking his arm back shyly.
“What? I think that’s a respectable question.”
“We’re just...kissing.” Lennox shrugged.
“Just kissing.” Daniel repeated as if trying to understand. “Just kissing exclusively?”
“Yeah.” Lennox mumbled bashfully.
“So boyfriends.”
“Dad.”
“What?”
Lennox stood up from the porch step, “I’m going inside now.”
“Spud, one more thing.” Daniel called out.
Lennox stopped with his hand on the door handle and glanced back expectantly at his father still sitting on the top step.
“No more sneaking around now that I know.” Daniel said seriously, although the friendly smile on his face eased the slightly awkward situation between them, “So you gotta leave the door open.”

Instagram IRL | Jonah Marais
Warnings? None? Except I changed the prompt a little bit. oh and I guess I’m back?
Requested? Yup! Hope you like it!
Summary: You and Jonah were love at first instagram caption. But haven’t met until a certain blue eyed band member helps you get together irl
Word Count: 2,547 (we back with a long one)
“(y/n)!!” Your best friend Daniel yells out as he walks through the door.
“Living room!” You respond. You put your phone down just as Daniel walks in and you offer him a smile.
“Have you been sitting there all day?” He asks taking a seat next to you where you throw your legs over his.
“Maybe,” You shrug and Daniel shoves you lightly.
“You need to get out of the house more,” He tells you and you roll your eyes.
He was kind of right though. For most of the summer you had spent it either at work or inside switching between the same three apps for hours and binge watching your favorite show all day long. Considering your best friend was off touring and making new music you were bored all summer long.
“School starts soon,” You remind him. “I’ll get out then.”
“Not what I mean,” He says tapping your legs. You sit up and follow him into the kitchen as he goes to make dinner so you can continue the conversation.
“Oh! By the way I think your band mate Jonah followed me on Instagram today?” You say sliding up on to the kitchen counter.
“He did?”
Even though you and Daniel have been best friends since middle school, you still haven’t met his band mates. Your schedules had yet to line up so you had only heard stories about Daniels four best friends.
“Yeah. Did you tell him to follow me?”
“Nah. He might have just seen us on my Instagram,” He responds and shrugs his shoulders.
The two of you drop the conversation and you don’t think much of it until you get a dm later that night. You and Daniel were watching Parks and Rec together when your phone rang.
“Who’s that?”
“Jonah?” You say looking at the direct message confused.
“What did he say?”
“Hey!” You say starting to read the text out loud. “I saw you’re friends with Daniel and wanted to introduce myself.”
“Oooh he likes you,” Daniel says and you roll your eyes.
“He’s just introducing himself. You guys are band mates and best friends he’s being polite,” You insist.
“Whatever you say,” He responds. He turns back towards the TV and you pull up the text and type up a response and send it to Jonah.
The next day was spent how most of summer was spent, relaxing at home. However, Daniel actually had the day off and so you two planned to hangout. Right now you were just about to head out to run a few errands.
“Ready to go?” Daniel asks entering the living room.
“Mmm,” You murmur not looking up from your phone. You’re so distracted that you don’t hear Daniel cross the room, until he grabs your phone and starts reading your messages.
“Daniel,” You whine out and stand trying to get your phone from the taller boy.
He holds the phone above his head, and reads the conversation between you and his band mate out loud. For most of last night and today, you had been texting Jonah.
After an initial introduction conversation, the two of you swapped phone numbers. You were quick to continue the conversation and it hasn’t stopped since. Which Daniel was now reading a conversation about your shared love of music.
“Aww you two both like the same artists!” Daniel exclaims. “How cute.”
“Shut it,” You tell him before snatching your phone back.
“Come on I don’t wanna spend all day running errands.”
It had been a few days since you and Jonah started talking and you already felt like you had known him forever. You made a mental note to punch Daniel for not introducing the two of you sooner. The two of you even decided to FaceTime tonight and you were hella excited.
“What are you doing tonight?” Daniel asks as he walks into the room.
“Nothing,” You respond and Daniel gives you a look.
“Nothing includes FaceTiming Jonah?” He asks and you sigh.
“You know?”
“You do realize I’m both of your best friends. I was gonna find out eventually,” He shrugs and you roll your eyes.
“I’m going out,” He says picking up his keys off the counter. “Don’t stay up too late.”
“Bye love you.”
Once Daniel is gone, you start up Netflix until Jonah is free to call you. You felt like you were back in high school, waiting for your crush to call but you didn’t want it to be like that. Well, not yet anyway.
You’re zoned out completely when the familiar ring of your phone sounds. You scramble for it on the coffee table next to you and when you finally get a handle, you see it’s Jonah. You pause your show, sit up straight and fix your hair before pressing accept.
It takes a second to connect but soon you see Jonah’s smiling face on the screen and your nerves slow down. He was clad in a navy blue tie dye shirt and black basketball shorts.
“Hey!” He greets and your smile widens.
“Hi! What’s up?”
“Just relaxing, watching Netflix. You?”
“The same. What show are you watching?” You find out the two of you have both been binge watching the same show for the past three days and you get into a long discussion about it.
“But that plot twist at the end!” You exclaim.
“Excuse me what plot twist?” He asks and your face drops upon realizing you probably just spoiled something.
“Nah I’m messing with you,” He says
You roll your eyes and Jonah smiles wider making you smile out of reflex. This boy was truly a work of art. His smile went on for days and his eyes lit up a beautiful green making you go aflame. Every inch from the tips of your fingers to the ends of your toes felt like fire in the best way possible.
You talked and talked and talked until it was way too late at night and Daniel had opened the front door. He walked into the living room and upon seeing you talking to Jonah he pops into camera view.
“Hey man!” He greets and you can tell that Jonah isn’t sure whether he wants to smile or frown at the sight of his band mate.
“Hey,” He says after a few seconds. “What’s up?”
“Have you two been talking all night?” Daniel asks ignoring Jonah’s question. He’s leaning over the side of the couch so he’s in frame and you’re surprised he doesn’t see you lowkey rolling your eyes.
“Maybe. And that’s your business how?” Jonah sasses and Daniel backs up.
“Okay you right. I’ll leave you to it,” He says before walking towards his room. He pauses just before the hallway and turns towards you. He throws a thumbs up and mouths “good job” and you end up laughing.
“He’s a clown.” You say and Jonah nods.
The two of you end up talking till 4 am when your eyes are too heavy to bear and Jonah is yawning every two seconds. You end up calling it quits when Jonah nods off for a bit and you’re smiling as you fall asleep.
The next day, Daniel shakes you awake from your position on the couch. It takes you a second to register where you are and when you remember how late you were up, tiredness hits you like a truck. You groan as you sit up and run a slow hand through your hair.
“What time is it?” You ask as Daniel hands you a glass of water which you happily sip.
“Almost 1,” He responds and you’re surprised you slept so late. However you didn’t have work or class so it didn’t bother you too much.
“Have fun last night?” Daniel asks and you roll your eyes.
“I should ask you that,” You respond and Daniel places a hand on his heart and feigns innocence.
“I was having nice responsible fun do not judge me,” He responds and you ignore him and instead stand and stretch. “I’m going out to grab groceries do you want to come?”
“Give me like 10 minutes.”
“So Jonah?” Daniel asks and you shake your head. You stand up straight on the cart as Daniel wheels it around and swivel your head to see what aisle he lead you in. You jump down just as he stops at the iced tea and turn to face towards the selection.
“Nope. Who were you hanging out with last night?” You respond as you stand on your tip toes to look for more Arizona lemon tea. Just as you’re about to start climbing the shelves to grab some, Daniel walks around and easily reaches above you to grab the sweet drink.
“Answer my question and I’ll answer yours,” he winks sliding the drink into your hand and you pull away.
“Okay Jonah. I think he’s really sweet and super funny and I kind of already have a tiny crush on him. Happy?”
“Very,” He smiles wickedly and you climb back onto the cart as he pushes down the aisle and into the next. “And I was at Kian and Jc’s party.”
“Responsible fun my ass,” you joke and Daniel jostles the cart, trying to scare you.
“You gonna call Jonah again tonight?”
“Maybe. Beats watching ``How I Met Your Mother'' reruns.”
You and Daniel shop around for a little while longer before checking out and heading back home. As you’re putting the groceries away, you hear your phone ring loudly and you tell Daniel to grab it for you. You don’t recognize who’s on the phone until he walks back into the kitchen, talking excitedly.
“It was crazy man, Dom was there so of course things got out of hand,” He says and you turn your head to look at him. You mouth the question, “who is it?” And when he responds with “Jonah”, your heart skips a beat.
“I’ll let you talk to (y/n/n) though," He says before handing  you the phone.
"Hey!" You greet him. "I thought we were gonna talk later?"
"We were, but I missed you so I called. Was that too much? Are you busy?'' He asks, concern lacing his voice.
“Never too busy for you,"  You smile and Jonah reflects it.
You head to your bedroom and out of the corner of  your eye you see Daniel smirking at you. You roll your eyes and flip him off causing him to laugh. When you get to your room, you flop down and turn your attention onto Jonah. You end up talking for the rest of the night, only pausing for a second to say goodnight to Daniel.
"Ya know, we should really meet one day," Jonah says during a pause in the conversation.
"I would love to," You say smiling wider than usual.  After a few more tired pauses, you decide to call it a quits for the night.
The next morning when you wake up, the conversation with Jonah still rings in your ears. For once, you're awake before Daniel. You decide to start making breakfast, a bacon egg and cheese for yourself and bacon and eggs for Daniel. When he wakes up and sees all the food, he pauses for a second, no doubt about to make a joke.
"What's all this?" He asks and you smile nervously.
''Breakfast and a bribe." He returns the smile as he sits down to eat and you join him.
"What's up?" He asks taking a bite of his eggs.
"I wanna meet Jonah. But I want it to be a surprise and that's where you come in," He nods along and you decide to continue. “I wanna surprise him at the airport the next time he flies to LA."
"I love it."
Over breakfast, you and Daniel work out the details. When Jonah flies back to LA so the boys can  Hartworking on the new album, Daniel will find out his flight info and help you surprise him. It was the perfect plan and you became more and more excited as it grew closer. You were surprised you were able to keep the secret from Jonah for so long considering you two had grown extremely close and Facetimed almost every night.
"I'm headed back to LA tomorrow," He said the night before.
"Oh really?" You ask flipping over on your bed and propping your head up with your hand.
"Maybe we can meet up?" He asks and you smile, half knowing, half genuine.
"Name a time and place."
The next morning, you wake up early and run over to Daniels room to wake him up. You practically haven't slept all night, way too excited to finally meet Jonah. The boy you had started  to fall for. Daniel wakes up slowly, and you decide to make breakfast again as he gets ready.  Jonah's flight doesn't land until noon but it was a two hour drive to the airport.
The entire time driving there, you're antsy clutching the sign you made for him. You were excited mostly but couldn't help but worry about whether or not Jonah would still Iike you in real life.  You're almost certain DanieI can sense your worries because he reaches out and squeezes  your hand.
"Trust me, he's just as excited as you."
Once we're at the airport, we head to the baggage claim and I can feel extreme butterflies kick in. I bounce on the balls of my feet and every time I see a group pass, my heart speeds up.
And then I see him.
He moves slowly down the escalator, a tired look in his eye. Adorned in sweatpants, a gray sweatshirt, and a snapback, he's taller than you thought. As he comes down, you hold the sign embroided with his name in front of your face. Daniel hangs back, and as Jonah grows closer, you feel an extreme sense of calm.
"I didn't order a driver," He says and your heart skips a beat.
"No but you did order a surprise,"  You say and move the sign to finally face him.
"(y/n)?"  He asks and your smile breaks open.
"In the flesh.''
He sighs happily before dropping his stuff and wrapping his arms around your waist. Yours find their way around his neck and he spins you around causing you to squeal  happily. When he sets you down on the ground he holds you tight and rocks the two of you back and forth.
"I can't believe you're here!" He says and your heart could burst. He squeezes you tight once more before letting go and stepping back to look at you.
“How did you get here? How did you know?” He asks holding your hands in his and swinging them slightly.
“Daniel helped me. He’s around here somewhere but I wanted to surprise you when you got here.” His smile widens and it sends and electric shock through you at the sight of it.
“Thank you,” He says leaning down to place a swift kiss on your cheek.
“Come on you two I wanna make some music!” You hear Daniels voice again and it snaps you out of your daze. You step back from Jonah but he keeps your hands intertwined.
“Let's go!”

The Little Things ·1/?·
Tumblr media
Warnings// Hella fluff, minimal cursing
Summary//I have no way to describe this way other than this: I had a couple of cute individual ideas for Daniel, but none of them felt long enough to put into a story. So I'm going to start making a mini series of cute things Daniel would do. Send in requests if you have any ideas! PS: these are going to be really really short.
↞↠
If Daniel Seavey is one thing besides talented, loving, and sweet, it's protective. When walking down the sidewalk, any sidewalk, Daniel will stand on the outside. You didn't start noticing this until one of your friends pointed it out to you.
"Y/n he's so in love with you," she said, "like when he walked around you to be on the outside when you guys were walking. Goddamn. I wish I had that."
Then you started realizing how he would subtly switch spots with you mid-conversation.
"Hey why do you always do that?"
"Do what?" He smiled. That smile could melt you into pieces in a second.
"Move to the outside of the sidewalk when we're walking. You always do that."
"Huh. I guess I never really noticed, I guess it's just instinct." He shrugged, but you couldn't remove the smile from your face.
Lmk what you guys think of these and if you want a tag list :)

i t h i n k i l i k e y o u . . . C.B. x reader

"Come on, Y/N! Hurry up!" Corbyn calls ahead of you, hiking further up the mountain.
"Why did I agree to this again?" You ask as you come to a stop, catching your breath.
"Because you love me, of course." He replies, a cocky smile on his lips.
Oh you have no idea, you think to yourself
You have been best friends with Corbyn since the second grade, and since then the two of you have been inseparable. He sees you like a sister, but you saw him as more than that. You developed feelings for your friend in 8th grade, and now you two were getting ready to graduate.
Because you were seniors, Corbyn has been forcing you to go on various adventures with him, not that you minded. This week he decided to go on a hike, and dragged you along like always.
"You have a point there." You reply, taking in the scenery around you.
"Come on, lets keep going! We're almost there." He says, continuing the trek up the mountain. You follow him, a smile creeping onto your face.
"Isn't it beautiful? I love Virginia so much." He says, climbing higher.
You nod, trailing behind him.
"It is pretty great here." You agree.
He stops at a cliff overlooking the mountains, a beautiful sunset behind them. You stop next to him, sitting on the edge of the cliff, your legs dangling over the edge. Corbyn sits down next to you, a sigh escaping his lips.
"I can't believe we're graduating in two weeks." He says, his eyes locked on the scenery in front of us.
"Yeah," You reply, your eyes on him. "High school just flew by."
"Especially since we got through it together." He says, wrapping his arm around your shoulder loosely.
Your cheeks heat up, but you quickly turn away so he can’t see. You let his arm slide off his shoulder, flustered.
"You've seemed off for the past few weeks Y/N. Is something wrong?"
He turns towards you, concern in his eyes. He reaches up and tucks a small strand of hair behind your ear as you turn towards him.
"I'm fine." You lie, forcing a smile.
He frowns, a sigh escaping his lips.
"You're obviously not fine. What's wrong?"
You take a deep breath, looking away from him once again.
"I like you."
His eyes widen with surprise, then furrow with confusion.
"W-wait...like, like-"
"Nevermind, forget I said anything."
You rise from your spot next to him and walk away quickly, bursting into a run a few seconds later. You keep running and running, ignoring the pain in your lower half, getting as far away from him as possible.
"Stupid, stupid, why'd you do that?" You mutter to yourself over and over as you slow down your pace, loosing altitude more and more as you travel further down the path.
"Y/N wait!"
You stop dead in your tracks when you hear his voice. You turn to find him racing towards you. Snapping out of your trance, you race off, not looking back.
*time skip because I'm extremely lazy and not good at writing :D*
It's been a few days since you confessed your love to Corbyn. You'd been trying to avoid him since, but it's been hard because you had classes with him and he never seemed to be able to let you go.
Today was the same. There you sat in the back of the English classroom, scribbling down notes as Mr. Assclown continued the lecture.
Corbyn sat a few seats to your right. You payed no attention to him, but you could feel his eyes on you.
"I hate this." You thought, a sigh leaving your lips.
"That's it. I'm going to talk to him today." You thought confidently, closing your notebook.
A few seconds later the bell rings and you get up, books in hand. The students swarm the door, escaping the final class of the day. You walk out behind them and find Corbyn by your locker, waiting for you like always.
     "Hey."
He jumps, snapping out of a trance.
"Woah you're actually talking to me!" a smile appears on his face, showing his dimples.
"Listen, I'm sorry about running off Saturday, I didn't mean-"
     "Y/N." He says.
"Yeah?" You reply, blush spreading onto your cheeks.
     "It's fine." He says.
"Oh." You say, "I'm sorry if I made things awkward between us."
"Y/N. It's fine. I-I actually have something to tell you."
     "Oh, okay. Go for it."
He takes a deep breath, his cheeks bright pink. He moves closer to you, taking your chin in his hand, forcing you to look into his beautiful green eyes.
"I think I like you too"
This is very bad I’m so sorry sksksksksk I also posted it on Instagram lol :)

A Thousand Miles (Z.H.)
“Zach, what the hell are you doing here? It’s nearly two in the morning.” I whisper-yelled at my best friend. “I know, I’m sorry but I had to see you before we leave for tour again.” He whispered back, smiling at me. I locked my eyes with his before grabbing my shoes and climbing out of my bedroom window. Zach walked over to the passenger side of his car, opening the door for me. I sat in the seat, laying it back while Zach got in the driver’s seat. “What are you doing?” He chuckled at me. “Well you kind of woke me up so I’m gonna lay here and chill while you drive.” I yawned back at him, “Where are we going anyway?” I asked.
“Well, Y/N, that I do not know.”
“Oh, great.” I rolled my eyes. His left hand clutched the steering wheel while his right one reached for my hand. As the long drive continued on I felt myself becoming less tired. After a few more moments in comfortable silence I reached for Zach’s phone. I opened the phone and began scrolling through his music selection, not finding a song that was satisfactory to me. I clicked onto Apple Music and typed in a song for this kind of night. Zach looked at me with a confused look while I began to sing along. “Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and I’m home bound.” I yell, looking at Zach. He smiles and begins to sing with me.
By the end of the song we had reached our unsought out destination. We had ended up in a completely vacant parking lot by the Santa Monica Pier. We got out of the car and climbed up to the roof of it, laying down. Laying side by side, Zach once again grasped my hand and laced our fingers together. “I don’t want to leave you, Y/N. You’re my best friend.” He whispered in a strained voice. “How many days until you go?” I asked quietly. “Three days until we head to Nevada for the first show.” He responded.
“We should just go now, together.”
He looked at me, smiling. “Okay, let’s go.” He said excitedly. We re-entered the car and turned the radio back on. The rest of our night was spent having conversations about anything that had come to our minds, singing along to High School Musical and multiple stops at 7-11.
Once we arrived in Nevada we had searched up the nearest hotel. “Hi, I need a room for two nights please.” Zach spoke to the woman at the front desk. She nodded and handed him two room keys. We took the elevator up to the fifth floor and found our room. I looked at the clock on the bedside table seeing that it was now 8:45 in the morning. I yawned and threw myself onto the bed and pulled the covers over me, Zach following suit.
“Y/N?” He asked, sleepily. I hummed in response. “I-I love you so much. Not as a friend. I am so, so in love with you.” He whispered. I shifted my body to face him and pulled his face closer to mine. I felt our lips touch and him smile into our first kiss of many.
“I love you more, Zachary Dean Herron.”

Y/N’s POV
“Come on kids. We have to go to the grocery store!” I yell up the stairs to my kids. Normally, I wouldn’t take them with me, but no one was able to watch them today. Also, Zach was out of the state so I had no other option.
“Mommy! Noah won’t give me back my unicorn.” My two year old daughter complained about her older brother.
Sighing, I walk up the stairs and go to her room.
“Noah, you know that’s not nice. Give it back to Grace please. If you don’t, I’m going to have to call dad.” I threaten.
“So if I don’t give it back, does that mean we finally get to talk to him? Mommy we haven’t talked to him in five days. I have been counting.” Noah retorts.
“No Noah. You give your sister back her unicorn and go down to the car.” I try to say without my eyes tearing up.
The truth of that statement makes my stomach turn. It’s even worse that a three year old child was able to figure that out. Zach has been away at a writing session out of state with the rest of the boys. After winning multiple Grammys, the band has been working so hard to produce more amazing music for their fans. During all of that, the calls home started decreasing. A couple of days ago they just stopped. I try to be strong for my kids, but it becomes difficult when you don’t even know what’s going on with your husband. He’s supposed to come home in four weeks, so I guess we will wait and see.
With my two younger kids already in the car, I go and check on the two oldest.
*after going to the grocery store*
When we got home, to say I was exhausted was an understatement. Having four children, ranging from two to seven, with the love of my life is finally taking a toll on me. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my kids with every fiber in me. It doesn’t help that their dad has been MIA. Deciding to try and call him while the kids were napping, I picked up my phone.
“Hey babe.” I say once Zach picks up.
“Hey love. How’s everything over there?”
“It’s alright. We all miss you”
“Aww, I miss you guys too. I was just going to call and let you know that-“
“Zach are you ready?” A woman’s voice cuts him off.
“Shhh, my wife’s on the phone. I don’t want her to hear you.” He quickly whispers.
Shock. That’s the word that describes my reaction perfectly. I haven’t talked to my husband in five days, and when I get a chance, I hear a woman’s voice. I trust Zach with my life, so I don’t understand why all the sudden I feel like this. Also, why does he not want me to hear? If it’s nothing wrong, why does he feel a need to hide it?
Next, a feeling of sadness courses through me. Has he been cheating on me? No Y/N why the hell would you think that. You have four kids together, he wouldn’t throw that all away. Wait, but how can I be so sure. I haven’t seen him in weeks. What if all of a sudden he just gave up and realised that he didn’t love me anymore. What if…
I get pulled from those horrible thoughts when I hear his voice. “Sorry love. I have to go. Say hi to the kids for me.” He rushes out before hanging up.
And just like that he’s gone again. How long will it be this time before we can talk again? He’s gone, probably having the time of his life, while I’m over her with my intrusive thoughts. I failed to even notice that I started crying until a tear fell onto my hand. I don’t try to hold back my sobs anymore. I can hear them echo all around me. I shouldn’t be feeling like this. He’s my husband for goodness sake. While basking in my misery, I failed to notice two kids on the stairs.
*skip three weeks*
One week. Seven days. That’s how long until Zach finally comes home. These days felt like they were dragging on and on. Throughout the past three weeks, he would call to talk to the kids. He would spend hours listening to them talk about their day or what they ate. Those moments helped numb the pain. When it came to me though, he kept the conversations brief. That didn’t help at all with my speculation of him cheating. The only reassuring thing was that I haven’t heard the woman’s voice in a while.
Ever since that day, I just couldn’t keep my mind from wandering. I had these thoughts about Zach not loving me anymore despite being together for seven years. These thoughts mostly occurred when I woke up in the middle of the night, reaching over to snuggle my husband, and just being met with the cold sheets. It was a stab in the heart, every single time. I felt like that was the way the universe was trying to tell me where our relationship stood. Most nights, I let the darkness and the cold take over. Feeling completely vulnerable and exposed to this part of love I’ve never experienced. I knew what I was getting into when I decided to first date Zach. I was prepared for the hate, criticism, and jealousy. I was strong. All he had to do was wrap me in his arms, and mumble “It’s alright. You’re alright. All that matters is that you’re here, in my arms. You will always be safe in my arms Y/N. Never forget that. I will always be there for you and never hurt you. My arms will always be open. I promise.” I didn’t care about anyone else’s opinion. The only thing that mattered was the love me and Zach had. No matter what, we had each other. Even when it felt like the world was turning its back on us. And that’s exactly what I said in my vows when we got married three years ago. But now, all of that is crumbling down piece by piece.
After a stressful day of getting the kids to and from school, working for eight hours straight, and cooking dinner, we are all sitting at the dinner table. That is everyone except for Zach. Throughout the whole dinner, I was lucky they didn’t mention their dad. I was on edge since his return was getting closer and closer. I was nervous for what would happen to us when we finally see each other in person. Better yet, what would happen to our family. I just couldn’t picture a happy ending. I especially didn’t want to pick a fight with him when he just got back. Wanting to clear my mind and maybe try to call Zach again without the kids around, I tell them to finish as much as they can before getting ready for bed. Right when I thought they were all gone I heard my oldest, Riley, speak up.
“Mommy how many days until daddy comes home again. I really want to show him the new soccer moves I learned.” He questions.
Going to answer, I open my mouth to respond but get cut off by another voice.
“Ri, there’s seven more days. Maybe if we get to sleep early he’ll come home faster.” Sophia responds from upstairs to her older brother.
“Thanks Soph. Mommy can Gracie and Noah sleep with me and Soph tonight? Pleaseeeee.” He practically whines.
Not being able to say no to the adorable face he makes. I give in and say yes. I mean who can say no? Now that they were all upstairs, I picked up my phone that was on the counter. Right when I was about to tap on the call button, an incoming call pops up on my screen. It’s none other than the man himself, Zach Herron. That’s odd. The only time he calls is early in the morning because of the time difference. Shaking that thought off, I answer the phone.
I immediately get my answer when I pick up. He’s fucking drunk at a club. The first clue is the loud club music that can be heard in the back. The next clue is the way he’s talking. It’s slurred and barely makes any sense. He can’t even form a complete sentence. The reason as to why he’s drinking is still unknown.
“Zach… is everything alright?” I carefully say, not knowing how he’s going to react.
“Huh, oh yeah everything is good. I just wa- wanted to ca- call and say that you’re, you’re the hottest…” He trails off before starting a new sentence.
“We finished our wri- writing se- session early. So, we de- decided to party.” Well that answers why he’s drinking.
Before I get to respond, he slurs “Are you taking good care of my kids? Last time I checked in, Grace hurt her finger. You should really be paying more attention to them.”
The anger quickly surges through me. I’m over here working my ass off with a full time job and “his” kids while he’s out partying and getting drunk. He has the audacity to criticize my parenting when we both know I’ve done most of the work. I was trying my hardest to stay calm, but it was hard hearing my husband’s words. Getting ready to open my mouth and snap at him, the cause of my sleepless nights returns. Just when I thought nothing could get worse, it happens...
I hear the woman’s voice again.
“We have to figure out whatever it is you want before you go back home.” I clearly hear her voice come from Zach’s side of the phone. And just like that, I feel my heart stop. All it took was fifteen words. Now, I know that his promises were never true. He hurt me. He wasn’t here. And I wasn’t safe in his arms.

I have cute idea where y/n is having a bad day then she goes to Daniel house and she ask Christian where is Daniel he tells her he is in the studio and Daniel was live on ig but y/n thought he playing piano and recording himself so she sat on his lap , he panicked because they were still a secret and he wanted his relationship private.
I hope that’s not to crazy
Hey! I’m doing great and I hope you are too. thanks for requesting!
Secret Relationship (d.s)
Tumblr media
a/n: k just pretend that the background of that photo is the studio lol. I will most likely do a little pt.2 for another request I got:) if you want other scenarios or anything let me know cos this was fun lol. enjoy!
It was fair to say Y/n was having a bad day. The morning rose and fell as quickly as the leaves fell from the autumn trees outside, but once it was time for the sun to descend, the hours couldn’t have inched past any slower, crawling in one by one as she worked quietly behind the wooden desk after school.
It was 4:56pm when she glimpsed over at her lock screen to realise, she had an hour left before the library would close for the day. The school building was quiet at that hour. Most people were revelling in the joys and relief the weekend had graciously brought and only the janitor was seen wiping down the windows in the distance.
She could barely keep her eyes open as she wrote down the last of her notes. Her fingers ached after scrolling through the pages...and documents...and slides on her laptop and her brain went practically numb from all the letters and numbers she’d stared at. The unsteady pile of books beside her was not helping either. All those thoughts of work had her craving her boyfriend’s presence. She just wanted one of Daniel’s hugs at that point. The warmth of his strong arms wrapped around her and the comforting beating of his tender heart right against her ear. Every aspect of Daniel’s affection was practically engrained in her mind. The thought of being with him squirmed in the back of her mind, tugging at her heartstrings until she finally sighed and closed her books. She tucked her belongings into her backpack and made her way out of the library - after giving the quiet librarian a wave - and across the campus.
Y/n found herself standing behind the Seavey’s front door. She knocked a couple times and heard the door handle rattle after a moment. Christian slowly came into view as the door creaked open.
Y/n cracked a gentle smile. “Hey, Y/n,” Christian moved to the side to let her walk through. “How’re you doing?”
“I’m okay, thanks for asking.” She replied. “And you?”
Christian noticed how Y/n’s shoulders slumped as she walked and the subtle frown playing at her lips, but he kept his thoughts to himself. “I’m great, just finished a self-tape.” He sat on the couch nearby.
“That’s great.” Y/n yawned. She’d come over to the Seavey’s house many times before so making herself comfortable was never an issue. Her blanket was tossed in the corner of the sofa, and she reached an arm to pull it towards her. Christian chuckled lightly as she plunked herself down and closed her eyes. The quiet of the home allowed her to enjoy some well-deserved rest. Only some, because in minutes Kobe was scampering down the hall and jumping into Y/n’s arms.
“Oh my God!” Y/n lifted herself up again and pet the excited dog as he licked her. She turned towards Christian again with Kobe shuffling further into her chest. “Is Daniel home?”
Christian looked up from his phone. “Yeah, in the studio.”
Y/n sent him a quiet ‘thank you’ before she was jumping out of her seat and rushing outside, across the patio. Kobe was quick at her heels.
Y/n had slowed down once she reached the door. She pressed her ear against the cold surface and listened in. The faint sounds of Daniel’s piano playing had sailed along the studio and seeped through the small gaps of the door, dancing with the steady breeze.
The soft, bell-like melodies emitting from the piano had smeared an unmistakable grin on Y/n’s face and she let her hands twist the doorknob quietly to not send Daniel out of his playing. She could sense his happiness from a mile away and today was no different. He was doing the very thing he loved after all.
The heart fluttering sight of him in an oversized, grey hoodie had her shoulders untensing and her face softening. “Hi,” She greeted. She trudged over and rested her palms on his shoulders from behind. His phone leaned against the music rack, with comments and questions gradually moving upwards beside little floating hearts. The live Instagram broadcast on his phone remained totally invisible to the young, tired girl. Daniel was hardly able to utter a warning before she draped her legs across his thighs to sit on his lap.
He couldn’t contain his nervous giggles as she hung her arms over his shoulders, “Hey, b-...Y/n.”
“Hi,” Y/n replied. She nestled her head into his chest and even clutched Daniel’s arms to rest around her waist. The Instagram live played on as the young couple rested together on the bench. Daniel kept his arms wrapped tightly around his girlfriend despite his heart’s intense beating.
He looked towards his phone screen again. “She’s just giving me a hug.” He reassured the viewers the best he could. He knew no one was buying it though. The comments were brimming with heart-eye emojis or excited comments in all caps.
Daniel peered down at his girlfriend, tucked comfortably and unbothered in his arms. “Just a really long hug.” He nodded towards the screen again.
Y/n went out like a light. She was perfectly content cradled in her boyfriend’s loving embrace, already drifting into a peaceful drea-
“Y/n.” A sweat broke over Daniel’s forehead. He snatched sneaky glances towards his phone before trying again, “Y/n!” He whispered sharply through the warm toned room.
“What?” Y/n mumbled quietly. She rubbed her eyes to spread her consciousness further.
“People are watching.” Daniel jerked his head towards the phone screen in front of them.
Y/n snapped her head to look at his phone propped up against the music stand. “Oh! Ri-right.” She shifted off Daniel’s lap quickly. He tried to wear a smile for the audience in his phone that were very much engrossed in the situation. Y/n dropped her gaze to the floor and picked at her nails. “I’m just...” She flung her arm to gesture towards the door, “gonna go.” Y/n’s nervous words were barely heard through the room and Daniel’s expression faltered as he watched her stride off for the living room without a second glance.
He felt terrible. He fought the urge to run after her and make sure she was okay, merely spinning back around to face the screen. “Okay,” he said breathily, pressing the keys harshly to produce a muddled mess of notes. He didn’t feel like playing anymore.
---
Daniel dragged his feet out of the studio towards the living room. He noticed Y/n sitting on the couch during the rest of his livestream and desperately wanted to make sure she was okay. Outside, the sunset bloomed beautifully, setting the sky ablaze with soft colours as Kobe played quietly on the patio. He ran towards the main house as Daniel slid open the door.
Y/n gave him a quick upward glimpse before lowering her eyes again. But then she looked up again, noticing his usual soothing smile replaced with a long frown. “You okay?” She asked softly.
Daniel fell back onto the sofa with a deep huff before glancing at her. “No. I’m sorry you had to leave like that.”
Y/n chuckled, “It’s okay.” She shuffled closer to him. Her body was angled slightly towards his and she dragged an arm to rest across his shoulders. Daniel moved to rest in between her crossed legs, and he rested his head on her chest. “We both want our relationship to be private, so...it’s okay.” Y/n consoled with a giggle. “I think your fans are suspicious now though.” She let a smirk tug at the corner of her lips. Daniel raised his eyes to meet her sparkly eyes.
“Oh, they’re definitely suspicious now.” Daniel took her hand away from his shoulder and entwined their fingers in a loose grip to kiss her knuckles. He cupped her face with his other hand and kissed her lips strongly. Y/n sighed pleasantly into it, finally feeling that relief she’d been waiting for all day. That reassuring affection that pulled her into a wave of warmth and comfort. They silently enjoyed the love that danced through their bodies and in between them for a few long moments.
Daniel pulled back and intertwined their fingers again. “It won’t be like this forever, Y/n.”

Worst Comes to Worst
Worst comes to Worst | Daniel Seavey
“Just breathe okay, who hurt you? -
Warning: Might be mentions of abuse.
// flashback to 30 minutes ago //
You sat on the couch in your apartment, watching some old rerun from when you were a kid. You were staring at the screen, but not watching. You couldn’t help but think about what he would say when he came home. You had seen the tabloid in the supermarket and knew that there was a huge chance that he had seen it already. You hadn’t gotten a text, call, nothing. You were slightly filled with relief but another part of you knew not to leap before you looked.
You suddenly heard a set of keys outside your door, you instantly threw yourself down in a sleeping position. You shut your eyes just as the door opened. You heard the footsteps get closer to the couch and you found yourself holding your breath. The steps seemed to go on forever, like pacing.
You suddenly felt a cool something smack onto your body, “What the fuck is that”, he yelled.
You winced slightly, pretending to wake up. You looked down to see a magazine laying on your legs, “Hm?”
“Don’t play stupid, Y/N”, your boyfriend, Griffin, yelled at you.
You looked down at the magazine, a picture of you hugging Daniel. “He’s my best friend, you know that”, you sounded so helpless.
“‘He’s my best friend’”, he mocked in a high pitch voice, “I’m tired of hearing the same old bullshit. You’re a fucking….a fucking...a fucking whore!”
Your eyes went wide at that, “What the fuck did you just call me”, you screamed back.
“You heard me! All I ever do is see you with those guys, it was just a matter of which one you were caught with this time”, he shook his head, “Don’t tell me that’s not whore behaviour?!”
“Whore behaviour? I already fucking told you that they’re my best friends, nothing more nothing less”, you tried to explain yourself.
“Get the fuck out”, he spoke calmly.
“Excuse me? This is half my apartment too”, you shouted at him, completely over the bullshit.
“Well I’m telling you to get the fuck out”, he slammed his hand on the couch, missing your arm by a few inches.
“Did you just try to hit me”, you asked, trying to keep the fierce act up, but it seemed to fade quickly.
“Yes, and next time I won’t miss. Now get the fuck out”, he shouted at you with pure anger.
You suddenly felt helpless again, timid, fragile. You put on your shoes and hoodie, his eyes boring into you like bullets. You finally grabbed your keys and purse, slamming the door as you walked out of the apartment, “You dumb fuck”, you silently cursed yourself for following his orders.
You felt lost but somehow knew exactly where to go.
// end of flashback //
You tried to compose yourself in your car as you sat across the street from the WDW house. Tears had fallen down your face like waterfalls and you were completely dishevelled. After about fifteen more minutes of waiting, you decided that it was now or never.
You sniffled, looking at your reflection in your phone screen as you rang the doorbell. Your eyes were slightly puffy but you hid them with your sunglass, which you would soon have to take off.
“Hey sweets”, Jack opened the door, engulfing you in a huge hug.
“Hey noodles”, you forced a smile as he walked you to the living room where everyone sat, including the rare sight of Christina and Gabbie. You loved them to death but they were girls, they could spot anything from a mile away.
“Look who it is”, Jack announced as all heads turned to you, everyone immediately yelling and jumping up to hug you before they all sat back down.
Daniel patted his lap for you to sit. You pretended not to see as you sat on the armrest beside him. He made a weird face before silently shaking it off.
You stayed silent, sunglasses still on, as everyone caught up. It was like the world was moving while you were on pause. “Are you okay”, Daniel whispered toward you.
You didn’t even glance at him, simply nodding in response. You knew that was a sure fire sign that something was wrong, but you had zero intention of breaking down in front of some of the only people that meant something to you.
You could practically see Daniel’s gears turning as he paid no attention to the conversation, a harsh look of thought on his face. You continued to study the room for a few more minutes before he jumped up.
“I’ll be right back”, Daniel began to walk away, not before grabbing your hand and pulling you along with him. He took you up to his room, sitting you down on the bed and standing in front of you, “You’re not okay, and I’m pretty sure everyone’s noticed it.”
“I’m fine, why would you think otherwise”, you asked blandly, showing zero emotion at all.
“These”, he pulled your sunglasses off. You prayed that the puffiness in your eyes had gone down. But there was no way forty-five minutes of crying would clear up in ten minutes, “Y/N! Were you crying”, he asked you, instantly kneeling down in front of you.
“It’s fine Dani”, you spoke, biting your lip to keep from breaking.
“No, Y/N, it’s not”, he spoke sternly, causing a tear to fall down your face, “Y/N”, he said softer. More and more tears fell and before you knew it, you were sobbing again, “Just breathe okay. Who hurt you?”
You shook your head, “It’s not a big deal”, you stalled.
“Was it him”, he asked accusingly. You stayed silent, holding back your sobs momentarily, “It was him, wasn’t it”, he asked with anger, instantly standing up.
“Daniel, please just leave it”, you held onto his hand as his blood boiled, “It was my fault….”
“The hell it was! How was it your fault? You weren’t even cheating on him! D-did he...did he hit you”, he asked, the look on his face telling you that he was prayed to God that he hadn’t.
You shook your head, causing a sigh of relief to rush out of him, “But he missed...and said if I didn’t leave that he wouldn’t miss the next time”, you breathed out through a cry.
“Fuck”, Daniel yelled, smacking the wall, “Let’s go”, he reached for the doorknob.
“Daniel, I-I can’t go back down there and pretend I’m okay”, you pleaded with him.
“We’re not doing down to catch up, we’re doing something about that son of a bitch”, he shouted as you slowly stood up. He squeezed your hand lightly to let you know he was there before guiding you quickly down the stairs.
“And we were thinking about the album but--Woah, Y/N, what happened to you”, Zach looked up at you.
You went to turn around but Daniel held onto you.
“Oh my god”, everyone voiced at your teary eyes.
“Are you okay, Honey”, Christina and Gabbie rushed up to you as the guys all stood up as well.
“What happened”, Corbyn asked quietly as the guys all stood in a group a few feet away from you guys.
“That fucker”, Daniel began, the guys instantly knowing who he was talking about, “Tried to hit her after accusing her of cheating. And then he said if she didn’t leave, he would hit her for real”, Daniel explained.
The boys all instantly filled with rage, “We’re going to go beat the shit out of him”, Jonah was heated, as were all of the boys.
“That’s the plan”, Daniel confirmed as they all nodded in agreement.
“Like right now”, Zach asked.
“Oh my god”, Jack rolled his eyes, “No, next year!”
“Just checking”, Zach defended.
“We’ll be back”, Daniel squeezed your waist lightly as he reached for the keys to the SUV.
“W-where are you guys going”, you asked, turning away from Christina and Gabbie.
“To kill that jackass”, Daniel was still beyond pissed.
“Daniel, please don’t”, you held onto him with tears in your eyes.
“Don’t get yourselves into trouble”, Gabbie spoke, looking at Jack with warning eyes.
“We won’t”, Jack reassured her.
“Seriously guys”, Christina went into full mom mode, “Be careful.”
“He threatened to beat, Y/N! He doesn’t deserve our mercy, he’s a fucking coward”, Daniel spat.
Gabbie and Christina looked at each other momentarily before looking at Zach.
“I’ll stay”, Zach told the guys, but for some reason, the boys didn’t argue with him. You were slightly confused as he wrapped his arms around you, holding you tightly.
“Let’s go”, Daniel tapped Corbyn’s shoulder as he and the rest of the boys headed out.
“Guys please”, you sobbed, “You’re going to get into trouble”, you cried as Zach held you back.
“You guys know our banking information, worst comes to worst...bail us out”, Jonah shrugged, “Peace”, he yelled as you cried into Zach’s arms.
At this point, you didn’t care what they did to Griffin.

without you to hold me | d.s.
ask and you shall receive babes
summary: it’s hard to sleep when he isn’t there
warnings: soft daniel, vv soft
Tumblr media
You welcomed the warmth and softness of Daniel’s bed with open arms. The duvet was heavy over your body, the weight just as comforting as the arm Daniel had wrapped around your waist, pulling you into him as tightly as he could. You sighed against his chest, making sure that your exhale brought with it the scent of Daniel’s skin, the smell of his body wash and cologne lingering in the air. You wanted to memorize the way his body felt pressed against yours and the way he held you. You wanted his touch imprinted on your skin forever.
The two of you had a mere 15 hours left together, before him and the boys left for tour early in the morning. The proud girlfriend in you was so excited for them because you knew how much they missed being on the road, but you were dreading him leaving you behind. The two of you had made the mistake of getting used to sharing bed over the past two months and now the feeling of him beside you was something you couldn’t fall asleep without.
Sleep was something you battled with for as long as you could remember, it never came easy and more often than not coffee was your saving grace. It wasn’t until your first night at Daniel’s house (which you were extremely nervous for) that you actually had a restful night's sleep. There was something comfortable about the dip in the mattress behind you and the kisses he left on your shoulder before he fell asleep. His gentle breaths on the back of your neck brought a small sense of ease to your rampant mind, and the warmth of his palm against your stomach was enough to keep you at peace for the rest of your life. Waking up with your head on his chest and your legs tangled together had something warm settling within you. And the small smile he sent you before kissing you each morning was a feeling you wanted to internalize and hold onto forever. His messy hair, his soft skin, rays of sun painting the expanse of his back. It was where you felt calm, content, happy.
“I’ll call you before I go to bed, I promise.” Daniel said after he kissed you for the eighth time since you got to the bus stop.
“Baby, you aren’t going to bed any time before twelve.” you ran your fingers through his hair, moving the blonde strands away from his eyes.
“It’s okay, I know you’ll be up.” he teased, grabbing your wrist to bring your hand down and kiss your knuckles.
“Oh, haha, Seavey.” you said with a roll of your eyes and a smile spreading across your lips.
“You love me.” he grabbed you by the waist, pulling you into him and hugging you tight.
“I love you.” you confirmed.
“I love you more.” Daniel kissed your cheek, then your lips one more time. And then all too soon, he was gone.
As you got ready to settle down for the night, you couldn't help but feel a tinge of emptiness creep into your bones. Laying in your own bed reading book wasn’t quite right without Daniel laying in your lap, clicking away on his laptop. You pushed the feeling aside, just wanting to finish a few chapters before you gave in and turned off your lights.
Nearly halfway through the collection of pages, your phone started to ring, and instantly you knew it was your beloved boyfriend.
“Hey beautiful.” he greeted with a smile, messy hair hidden under a ball cap. “Can’t sleep?” he wondered, knowing just how late it was.
You closed your book and fell back onto your pillows, a huff passing through your lips. “You know me so well.”
“Are you tired at least, need me to read you a bedtime story or something?” he was joking, but you knew that if you asked he really would read to you. Or sing to you. It didn’t matter, he loved you like that.
A gentle laugh tumbled past your lips as you snuggled into your pillow, pulling the hood of Daniels hoodie over your head. “No, it's okay. Maybe just tell me about your day? What have you guys been doing on the bus to keep busy?”
He started telling you about all the stupid things him and his best friends did throughout the day, how much they’re missing Eben on the bus and their plans for upcoming shows. The deep hum of voice and gentle huff of his laugh seemed to be enough to lull your mind into a calm state. You were falling in and out of consciousness, and every so often you would catch him singing to you, soft and quiet.
He stayed on the facetime call with you for an hour, and you were almost asleep, silently grateful for him in every way. The last thing you heard before you finally gave in to the sleep creeping up in your mind was “I love you beautiful, sleep well.”
And you did.

Passchendaele - Evelyn's Changes
↳  A/N As another month comes around, it got me reflecting on a bit of the history that comes with it and how those changes were tackled years ago. This came from it. (Oh and the second episode of the Queens Gambit kind of triggered this idea too...although being a different decade).

August 24, 1933
“You must eat some lunch, buttercup.”
“I’m not hungry, Daddy.”
Daniel pet his hand over his daughter’s tangled blonde hair and down her back, his eyebrows furrowed in concern as he stared at her lying ill in her bed. She faced towards him but she was curled up under her quilt with her eyes shut tightly. A filled lunch tray was placed on her dresser across the small room.
She had felt unwell since that morning and Daniel had tucked her back into bed and continued to check on her every hour. She had no temperature and was not throwing up or otherwise showing any signs of illness but he was always so over cautious that it was worrying him nearly sick himself.
“I warmed up some soup. I can feed it to you if you would like? Like we did when you were tiny?”
Evelyn shook her head.
Daniel waited a moment as if she were going to change her mind, but when she didn’t, he sighed a soft, “Okay.”
He stood from the side of her bed and tucked the quilt up around her again and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
“Shout if you need me. I’ll be right downstairs.”
He would have sat at her bedside until she felt better but she only wanted to rest and he didn’t want to get in the way of that. His darling daughter, not even thirteen, looking so tired and ill in her bed. He hated to see it. Danie left her with a final pet to her hair and then slunk quietly out of her room with the still filled lunch tray.
The house was silent and Daniel stewed around the main floor to keep his mind distracted from thinking the worst about his daughter’s mysterious illness. Charles was away with his Scouts group for the weekend and Elizabeth was on her day shift at the local hospital as a nurse. Daniel was left all alone. At least leaving Evelyn to rest wasn’t too worrisome and he tried to reassure himself that after an afternoon nap she would feel more herself.
In the silence that surrounded him, he sat in the parlour with a book and let the soft ticking of the clock on the mantle pass the time by. Not even an hour later, the stairs creaked dully and Evelyn stepped onto the main floor quietly. She was still in her nightgown and her blonde hair was messy from bed and fell loosely around her shoulders, her cheeks pink, and her hand held tightly to the handrail even when she reached the wood floors of the dining room. Daniel closed his book and set it on his lap to give her his full attention.
Evelyn spoke softly through her pout, “Daddy, my stomach really hurts.”
Daniel bit lightly at his bottom lip in thought, watching how she held both hands low down on her stomach and her nose scrunched up in pain. She groaned quietly and seemed to curl into herself slightly and it was at that moment that both father and daughter noticed the same thing.
Evelyn felt it first but Daniel saw it first – the thick trickle of red that trickled rapidly from under her knee length nightgown and down her inner thigh.
She gasped and her wide frightened eyes looked over at her father for some sort of answer to what was happening to her. Daniel in no way had a weak stomach – in fact he had somehow managed to easily live through the worse the humanity could offer a man – but there was a lingering fear of blood within him the stemmed from nothing but the experiences that once came along with the sight of it. Death followed blood.
That was the first thing that came to Daniel’s mind as he stared, frozen on the couch, and watched his daughter drip blood onto the wood flooring under the archway between the dining room and parlour.
“Daddy,” Evelyn called for him weakly, forming tears causing her voice to shake, “what’s happening?”
Daniel tossed his book onto the coffee table and hurried over to his daughter but stopped just before her as if he were scared to touch her. He didn’t know what to do. Elizabeth would have known what to do.
“We will call Mum at the hospital.” Daniel said as strongly as he could.
“Daddy, I’m scared.” Evelyn whimpered.
“Come on, buttercup.” Daniel took her arm and led her to the dining room table. He grabbed a tea towel from under the kitchen sink and placed it on the chair first so she could sit and then he made a beeline for the phone. He lifted the receiver and held it between his shoulder and ear as he flipped through the address book tacked to the wall beside it to find the number for the hospital.
He dialled the number as quickly as he could – although the rotary seemed to take much longer than he’d have liked – and soon the line was ringing. While he waited, he cradled the receiver to his ear and turned to glanced at his daughter a few steps away. She was still clutching her stomach and groaning softly in pain.
“Hospital, how can I direct your call?”
Daniel exhaled deeply, “Hello, I need to speak with Nurse Seavey. Right away.”
“I’m sorry but she is assisting in the operating room at the moment and may not be taken away from her work. May I take a message for when she is available?”
Daniel huffed and shut his eyes tightly for a moment before answering, “Just that her husband needs to speak with her. Urgently. Please have her call me as soon as possible.”
He hung up.
“Where’s Mum?” Evelyn whined quietly from the dining table.
Daniel turned to her, “She’s helping with a procedure at the moment unfortunately.”
He merely stared at her for a moment, unsure of what to do.
“I feel I might be sick, Daddy.” Evelyn mumbled, holding her hand to her mouth suddenly.
“Christ.” Daniel hurried to grab a mixing bowl from the kitchen.
He returned to his daughter and crouched in front of her and offered the bowl for her to hold on her lap. She bent over it slightly and held her eyes closed while she breathed shallowly. Daniel stared at her pale face and he set a hand on her forehead and then on the back of her neck under her hair.
They stayed like that for a few moments until Daniel gently had her lift up the bowl just enough so he could see the towel underneath her and how it was stained slight in deep red blood. He sighed shakily and looked back to the phone as if to will it to ring. It stayed silent.
“Come on, Elizabeth.” he said under his breath.
Evelyn whimpered softly and Daniel turned back to her quickly, rubbing his thumb over the back of her neck. He didn’t know what to do.
“I’m right here, buttercup.” he whispered as reassuringly as he could. “I’m right here.”
“Why am I bleeding?”
“I don’t know, but if Mum doesn’t call in five minutes I’ll take you in to the doctor’s, alright?”
Evelyn nodded weakly. Daniel pressed a kiss to her head as he stood up in front of her again. He checked the time on his watch and then let his graze drift back to the phone as he rubbed his hand over his daughter’s back.
Two minutes later, the phone rang.
Daniel nearly threw himself at the phone and grabbed the receiver, “Elizabeth?”
Corbyn answered with a soft laugh, “Sorry to disappoint.”
It was the best Daniel was going to get and he confided in his best friend while keeping a watchful eye on his daughter, “Corbyn, please can you help…I…Evelyn…she’s bleeding and she’s ill and…and she’s bleeding, Corbyn. I don’t know what to do. Elizabeth’s at work and…Evelyn’s bleeding…”
“Bleeding? Where?”
He turned to face the wall and lowered his voice so his twelve-year-old couldn’t overhear, “Under her nightgown.” He took a trembling breath, “I don’t want her to die, Corbyn.”
Daniel was more than shocked at the soft laughter that came through the phone. This was in no way a laughing matter.
“I’ll be right over, Daniel. Put the kettle on.”
“The kettle? This is hardly a time for tea, Corbyn.” Daniel said sternly.
“Trust me, mate. Put the kettle on. I’ll be there in five minutes.”
True to his word, Corbyn let himself into the Seavey’s no more than five minutes later. Evelyn was still sitting on the dining room chair with the bowl on her lap and her hair falling over her hung head. Daniel was crouched protectively in front of her and the kettle was steaming from the stovetop in the kitchen beyond.
Corbyn had a bag on his arm and he set it on the dining room table as he greeted the panicked father and daughter, “Good afternoon, Seavey’s.”
His calmness was only making Daniel more anxious.
Corbyn pulled a hot water bottle from the bag and held it out to Daniel, “Fill this up with the boiling water from the kettle, Daniel, please.”
Daniel didn’t necessarily want to leave his daughter’s side but he followed what was asked of him. Corbyn took his spot in front of Evelyn and he gently took the bowl from her and set it on the table instead. He was like a second father to her – the Seavey’s and Besson’s were that close after all and always had been – so she didn’t feel overly embarrassed at the present moment as he politely eyed the soiled towel she was sitting on.
“Evy, has your mum ever spoken to you about menstruation?” Corbyn asked gently.
Evelyn shook her head.
“Right. Well it’s a very good thing I have a daughter myself and I’ve studied a bit on these topics, hm? I’m quite knowledgeable one might say.”
Daniel came over with the filled hot water bottle and passed it to his best friend who thanked him honestly. Corbyn tucked it up against Evelyn’s stomach and she habitually wrapped her arms around it to hold it there. Daniel brushed her hair back from her face and pressed a kiss to her head.
“Now, while that starts to ease your pain, I’ll give you a quick lesson.” Corbyn held his hands over hers as he stayed crouched in front of her. “Every month women bleed for a week to clean out their bodies…it’s not very talked about but I’m sure you’ve seen a few advertisements around for sanitary products and maybe sometimes your Mum doesn’t feel as well as usual.”
Evelyn stared at him flatly but she nodded slightly.
“So it just seems you’ve become a woman and are now part of that new cycle. Nothing to panic about.” Corbyn eyed Daniel for that last bit, sending him a knowing smile.
Daniel bit his tongue, silently ridiculing himself for not thinking of that. Of course he knew what menstruation was since he had known Elizabeth since they were teenagers but his fear got the better of him.
Corbyn patted Evelyn’s knees gently, “So let’s get you cleaned up, okay?”
She nodded weakly and Daniel helped to stand her up as Corbyn returned to his bag and shuffled through it. He pulled out a thin cloth belt with two straps and a small box and held it out to her.
“Frances had an extra. All you do it open the box and clip the fabric onto the two straps and then shuffle it up your legs like your panties and secure the belt around your middle to hold it up. Yes?”
Evelyn looked between her Godfather and her dad hesitantly but then nodded and took the items from him in exchange for the hot water bottle and she and shuffled around the dining room table to the bathroom. She closed the door behind her.
“Take a nice shower, Evy. Get cleaned up and you’ll already start to feel better.” Corbyn called after her.
His reply was the water turning on.
Corbyn turned to Daniel who dropped his gaze to the floor shamefully.
“Don’t fret about it.” Corbyn told him.
“I should have known.” Daniel mumbled. “I’m here panicking like a bloody fool.”
“How were you supposed to know? I half panicked when Frances got hers for the first time too. Nothing can really prepare you for that.” Corbyn picked up the soiled tea towel from the dining room chair, “Bring a clean nightgown for her, alright?”
Daniel headed upstairs again and helped himself to Evelyn’s dresser drawer to pull out a fresh nightgown and underwear and returned downstairs as Corbyn finished wiping up the mess from the dining room floor and was soaking the towel in the sink full of water.
“You didn’t have to do that. I could have.” Daniel said.
“It’s alright.” Corbyn replied as he tossed the second cloth into the kitchen sink with the tea towel. “It’s just blood. We all have it.”
Daniel knocked on the bathroom door, “I have a clean nightgown for you, buttercup.”
Evelyn opened the door a crack and peaked her head out from behind it and stuck her hand out to take the clothes, “Thank you.”
“Managing okay?” he asked.
“Think so.” she answered flatly and closed the door again.
A few short minutes later, she emerged from the bathroom with her soiled clothes in hand. Corbyn had her toss them in the sink too with the rest of the linens that needed washing. She gravitated to Daniel and slid her arms around his middle and rested her head against his chest with a pout. He pet her wet hair and kissed the top of her head. She was a little embarrassed now, knowing from where she was bleeding, but Corbyn acted like it was nothing more than a papercut.
“Head back to bed, Evy, and cuddle up with that hot water bottle. It’ll make your pain go away quickly and I’ll bring you some tea too.”
Evelyn looked up at her father and rested her chin against his chest, “Can you tuck me in, Daddy?”
Daniel smiled adoringly down at her and brushed her hair from her shoulders, “Of course, buttercup.”
When Evelyn was back in bed and tucked up with the heat of the hot water bottle against her stomach, she let herself relax to the soft sound of her father’s humming and the comforting feeling of his hand rubbing gently over her back. She was asleep by the time Corbyn brought up her peppermint tea but he left it on her nightstand for her if she woke. He leaned against the doorframe and watched Daniel sit with her for a moment longer, eyeing the gentleness of his best friend and the man who once even feared the entire concept of being a father.
“I told you that you would be a natural.” Corbyn spoke quietly.
Daniel looked over at him, “A natural at what?”
“Being a father.”
Daniel scoffed lightly and answered him as he looked back at his daughter, “Barely. You’re the natural; you knew exactly what to do. I didn’t.”
“Look at her, mate.” Corbyn said, “She’s almost thirteen years old and you put her to sleep in the amount of time it took me to make a single cup of tea. She adores you…she’s comfortable with you…you know just what she needs to feel safe. You’re her father and a complete natural at it.”
Daniel let a small smile come to his face and he leaned down to kiss his daughter’s temple, lingering there just a moment before sitting back again and directing to his best friend, “You reckon?”
“No doubt in my mind.”
The phone rang almost an hour later when Corbyn and returned home and Evelyn was still resting. Daniel almost forgot about his panicked phone call to his wife until he picked up.
“Daniel? Darling? Are you okay? What’s the matter? I was told I needed to call you urgently.” Elizabeth rushed out through the line.
“Oh.” Daniel almost chuckled, “No, it’s all okay now. I didn’t mean to worry you. Evelyn was feeling under the weather and turns out she started…she started menstruating today.”
“Oh my. Does she need anything? Does she need me home? What happened?”
“No, you finish at work. We’re okay here. She’s resting.”
“You didn’t panic?”
“Well…a little. But it’s alright. I got everything under control.”
Elizabeth let out a small sigh of relief, “Good. I knew you would. Just had to ask.”
“I’m sure she’ll ask for you when she wakes.”
“I’ll try to leave early. I can’t believe our little girl is a woman now. Where does the time go?”
“She’s still a little girl.” Daniel answered softly.
“That’s right.” Elizabeth giggled sweetly, “Her daddy’s little girl.”
Daniel slumped against the kitchen wall with the phone held to his ear and he smiled to the floor, melancholy and reminiscent, “Always.”
“You’re an incredible dad, darling.”
“Why’s everyone been saying that?” Daniel chuckled bashfully.

"Look at that girl over there, she's hot right?" Jonah asked, nudging me in the ribs as I looked up from my phone.  He sat on my right as I was watching a video on how a man saved a puppy from a storm drain but my attention was quickly focused on a petite, blonde girl who stood with her friends laughing, looking at songs available to play on the jukebox.
Sometimes I feel like he knew I had a crush on him and said shit like that to piss me off.
"She's pretty." I mumbled, annoyed that he felt that need to say that to me, when he could of said it to the four other boys that surrounded us. We sat at a retro diner, like ones you would see in the movies. This place had become a favorite of ours through our time being in LA.
"Who's pretty?" Zach peeped up from my left side, interrupting our conversation and gaining the attention of all the boys.
"That blonde girl over there. Should I go talk to her?" Jonah wondered, making the boys smile but made me roll my eyes. Corbyn watched my agitated behavior and let out a snicker. He was pretty much the only one who caught onto my crush on Jonah and constantly liked to fuck with me about it.
"What are you laughing about Corbyn?" Jack pressed, looking at Corbyn along with the other boys that sat at the large booth with us.
I shot Corbyn a look and he quickly caught on to what I was saying indirectly.
"Oh it's nothing... Christina just texted me something funny." He trailed off and the boys nodded, proceeding with the conversation about Jonah's recent interest in the blonde.
"I'll be right back, watch and learn boys." Jonah interjected, popping up out of the booth and slowly striding over to the group of girls near the front of the diner. Jealously flooded through my body and I wanted to leave the scene, not in the mood to watch Jonah flirt with some girl who would most likely fall for him on the spot.
"I bet you Jonah is gonna get her number." Zach mentioned to me, in which I let out an uninterested nod in respond, along with an eye roll. Jack and Daniel seemed to notice my weird behavior because they looked at me with a concerned.
"What's wrong Y/n? Are you okay?" Daniel asked me, looking into my eyes for any sign of sickness or pain.
"I'm fine." I mumbled, looking back towards the girl clutching onto Jonah's forearm with a smile. I felt an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach but I tried to push it away. Jonah was always like this, he flirted with girls any time he could've because he knew they would fall for him.
"No you're not. You're jealous because Jonah is over there trying to bone that girl." Zach snickered from beside me and anger filled my veins. Not in the mood to deal with Zach's bullshit anymore, I shoved him out of the booth aggressively. He landed on the floor with a dull thud and looked up at me with an angry look.
"Yo Y/n what the fuck!" Zach shouted, standing up off the floor, brushing off his jeans. I glanced at the table and saw the boys sitting there with their jaws dropped. I didn't appreciate Zach's disgusting comment and now my secret crush on Jonah had definitely been put out there.
"I'm gonna go..." I trailed off, grabbing my purse and standing up, ready to walk out of the diner.
It seemed as if Jonah had the perfect timing when he ran up to us all giddy. "I got her number guys! I'm the ma-, Zach why do you look pissed off?" Jonah asked, mildly confused, exchanging glances with the table for an answer.
Daniel and Corbyn looked out the window and Jack stared down at his milkshake. No one dared to answer Jonah until Zach was clearly fed up and spoke up, with agitation.
"I'll tell you why... Y/n wants you really bad. She's fucking jealous because you always flirt with other girls in front of her face. I don't know if you're clueless to it but you don't seem to notice she's literally in love with you."
This was probably the worst thing that could have happened, I felt my eyes widen and my throat become dry. Our friendship would be ruined forever.
"You're an asshole Z..." Corbyn mumbled, facepalming himself in disbelief.
I couldn't believe Zach had the balls to be so rude and expose me like that but clearly he didn't care. Zach had no place to say that but he just looked at me with no sign of regret.
I eyed the table and saw the glass of water sitting in front of Daniel. Without hesitation, I grabbed the glass and threw the water on Zach, his clothes instantly becoming drenched.
"Y/n! What are you doing?!" Jonah shouted at me, in which I winced. He had never yelled at me and it was definitely something I did not want to get used to. He was mad.
I went to say something, but no words came out of my mouth, I gulped and tried to come up with an apology or an excuse but everything Zach claimed was true.
"I...I'm sorry. I have to go." I stuttered out, ignoring the stares from people as I stormed out of the diner. I kept my head down just so the boys didn't notice the streams of tears running down my face.
I'm not sure who that person even was out there. Why would I be so mean to Zach? He's like my brother and I felt genuinely guilty for doing such unkind acts to him.
As I was finally out of the diner, I realized I came here with Daniel, silently cursing myself for having no ride home.
I decided to sit on the bench outside of the diner and text my friend Nick for a ride home. The last thing I wanted to do was go in there and see Zach or Jonah, after all of the drama that had just occurred.
"What was that all about?" A male voice shouted, coming from behind me, laced with concern.
I turned towards the door of the diner only to find Jonah staring at me, his arms folded. I wiped the tears from my eyes, not wanting to look upset over him but he saw right through me.
"It's nothing Jonah. Let's just drop it." I spoke to him, sounding calm even though I felt otherwise.
"It's not nothing. I've never seen you so mad. Is what Zach said true?" He pressed, getting closer to me.
How was I supposed to answer that? I can't lie to him, it would just cause more problems.
“Yeah but listen, I didn’t want it to come out this way. I’m not trying to cause any problems and I don’t want our friendship ruined.” I pleaded, looking at him with despair painted across my face.
He frowned and pulled me in for a hug, grabbing my waist tightly. “Why would that ruin our friendship?”
“The feelings are clearly one sided and that’ll kill me to see you go around and mess with all these girls.” I sobbed, my tears leaking out of my eyes once again.
“Who said they’re one sided?” Jonah softly asked, grabbing my face with both of his hands and staring into my eyes.
“I just figured...” I began to explain why I had felt the feelings weren’t mutual but I was quickly cut off with a pair of lips upon my own. With no hesitation, I kissed back Jonah, a feeling of relief wash over me.
A few seconds later, we pulled away, and I couldn’t help but express a small smile at him.
“I’ll stop flirting with the girls. I just want you to see that I care about you and I want something out of this. You mean more to me than anything and I don’t want you to forget that. Now please, let’s leave so I can hear Zach stop bitching about his wet clothes.” Jonah spoke, a chuckle escaping his mouth at the end. He pulled me into his side and we walked back into the diner to get the rest of the boys.
I was happy that our relationship as friends could be something more now... but I was more happy that I didn’t have to hide my feelings anymore.
The feelings were mutual.
