Why Is Confined Space Training So Crucial? 

Confined spaces, characterised by limited entry and exit points and restricted airflow, can pose severe risks due to the potential accumulation of hazardous gases, lack of oxygen, or other dangerous conditions. Whether it’s a maintenance hole, storage tank, tunnel, or any other confined area, understanding the principles of ventilation is paramount. Therefore, confined space training is mandatory. 

Understanding confined space training 

A confined space is much more than a small space. Occupational Safety and Health Regulations or OSHA defines a confined space as an enclosed, restricted or partially enclosed space which: 

is not designed primarily as a workplace 

is at atmospheric pressure during occupancy and 

has limited means of entry and exit 

Also, such a space: 

Has an atmosphere containing or likely to prevent potentially harmful levels of contaminants; 

has or is likely to have an unsafe oxygen level or 

Is a nature or is likely to be of a character that could contribute to a person in that space being overwhelmed by an unsafe atmosphere or contaminant 

Due to this complex definition, there have been several incidences where supervisors working in a confined space failed to identify a confined space and allowed their workers to enter and work in the area without the necessary precautions. 

Confined spaces are full of risks 

When training personnel on confined space safety, it’s important to cover topics such as recognising and understanding potential hazard signs, proper ventilation, PPE requirements and selection, pre-entry checks, controlling environmental conditions before entry, and emergency planning.

Additionally, with confined space training, employees must be trained on when and how to use specialised equipment such as fall protection gear or monitoring equipment. Companies can reduce the risks of accidents and fatalities by properly training and familiarising them with the potential hazards they could face in a confined space. 

Confined spaces often have poor or narrow ventilation, which allows hazardous gases in the atmosphere to develop quickly, especially if the area is small. The hazards are only sometimes obvious and may change from one entry into the confined space to the next.

Planning and preparing for the job is vital to ensure that work is conducted safely and efficiently. Training courses can help workers gain a greater understanding of the potential hazards that come with working in a confined space.

What song surprises you to catch each member of the 141 singing to.

Simon only sings when cleaning his gun. He has one bud of his old raggedy Skullcandy ear buds slipped under his mask, and you hear him singing Ohio is for Lovers by Hawthorn Heights under his breath. He mumbles most of the words until he gets the chorus, which he sings louder and clearer, before going back to mumbling. If anyone ever brings up his singing, he will deny it in the most gas lighting way.

Gaz loves pandering American Country in an ironic way and sounds like he's absolutely making fun of it when he sings it. You'll be walking by and Gaz will be singing Rain by Luke Bryant. "RAYNE MAYKES COURN, COURN MAYKES WHISKEEEE, WHISKY MAKES MY BAYBAY FEEL A LIL' FRISKEEEEE" he sings loudly. Pulling out all stops to the southern drawl, with the most charming smile on his face, he's just having a great time.

Johnny is poly-jam-rous. He'll listen to anything and everything. If Toxic by Brittney Spears plays, he'll playfully grind on Simon, singing in his girliest voice, and shaking his butt all over. He'll headbang to metal. He'll work up a fake tear when he sings love ballads. He doesn't sound half bad either. Nothing he sings surprises you.

Price loves Taylor Swift. Total Swifty. You've heard him singing to Blank Space more than once in your ear piece. He's gotten heated arguments with subordinates about which album is best. The fact that he hasn't been able to go to any show in the Eras tour is making him so mad. He's a bit tone def when he sings but it still makes everyone around him smile cause it's good to see him get to relax and enjoy himself once and a while. (The rest of 141 are for sure pooling to get him Era's tickets.)

the herstory of the gwen x courtney shipname is so interesting. we started off with courn; it's not hard to see why we stopped using that one, but i'm sure someone thought it was funny. then we moved to gwentney, which is probably the cutest of the bunch and it makes me want to put little bows on it but we stopped using it because it sounded more like gwen x courtney x trent. and now, gwourtney, which reminds me of worth it by fifth harmony for some reason. i think gwenney would have been sorta cuter but it also sounds weird. courtgwen? gwencourt? law destroyers? idk.

i'm getting much closer to actually posting during pride month! go me! :-) i decided to work on some pieces to depict my deep feelings i have for the idea of a love triangle between zoey/gwen/courtney from the total drama series during pride.

ok, so like, here me out on zourtney. courtey? do they have a ship name? please tell me. these two fascinated me over the potential of how their relationship could work. they don't have many interactions, but for the ones we have, my personal headcanon is that they'd make interesting rivals. look at it this way, it's clear as day that courtney is hardworking with a competitive spirit. she's well equipped to deal with challenges, because she's put the time and effort to harness the abilities needed to get the job done. she's that girl. in comparison, things just work out naturally when it comes to zoey. it's not clear how she's naturally good at things like archery, she just picks it up with ease. to courtney, that has to be so frustrating to interact with. she's put in the work, but some other girl with lack of experience is outdoing her? this is injustice. it'd clearly be a one-sided rivalry with zoey assuming courtney is trying to be her friend, when in reality, courtney is trying to take her down.

next up, we got the queens. gwourtney. courn. whichever you prefer. what's there to say about these two queens that hasn't been said? their dynamic in the show is just so interesting. they go through so much together that it's fun to imagine where they end up in the future. bitter ex's? besties with benefits? married with 2.5 kids and white picket fence? i could see it all. overall, I just like thinking bout them watching documentaries and visiting museums together. maybe, they'd even run a podcast... hmmm...

on gwoey's end, i just feel like these two work naturally as an alt couple. the type who's date nights consist of concert venues, food truck dining, and walks through the city at night. they're so similar to one another, they just get each other despite their differing dispositions and aesthetic. i'd love to see an indie coming-of-age romcom about them.
