Hello fellow followers, and anyone else who might see this, I hope you’re well… I know I’ve been pretty absent on this blog recently but I wanted to ask a favour… I’ve been doing a lot of doodling lately - both original and for a particular fandom I’m currently focused on (my insta: @/burtonsdoodles - if you’re curious) - and I’m working on getting my Etsy store - longlivcuriosity - back up and running with these doodle based products - which I am much more enthusiastic about creating than what I was previously putting on there… I’ve decided to start a brand new tumblr blog to accompany it and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in giving it a follow? Or spreading the word…
As of right now it’s not got much on it but I intend to post products, artworks, process vids, polls if I’m too indecisive to pick the best direction to go with a piece… honestly, it’s gonna be a see what happens kind of deal since I haven’t really figured everything out yet and I’m terrible at planning ahead… so who knows what this blog will become but if anyone does decide to give it a follow I would be SO appreciative… and since I’m posting this on my yj blog, I’ll add that there might be some yj doodles that will be going on the Etsy at some point further down the line — after I’ve dealt with the current stuff…
Wait and see… anything is possible when it comes to CURIOSOTY…
Today has been an active day, more than usually. I guess the talking yesterday (with professional mental helper and my supervisor of rehabilitative work) really helped! At least I've been feeling much better today and yesterday was good too.
So I just made this nest for my one-legged glass owl 😄 I had saved the lichens, conifers and one red "flower" from the christmas flower pot decorations, that our neighbour had made and brought to us last year. I decided to put them in this glass jar, that I got from work (for free) and voila! The idea just came on itself.
When I had put all the things inside, I wanted to find someone to live in the nest. The glass owl that I also got from work (for free), because its leg was broken, was a perfect fit! Then I needed a lid for the jar, since it didn't have one. Found a perfect lid almost straight away from another smaller glass jar.
Fun way to reuse natural decors instead of throwing them to trash. 🥰🥰🥰
I remembered I mentioned wanting to write something about Wormwood, and I never followed up on that even though I said I would. Better late than never!
Prefacing this by saying I don’t think it’s fair to judge a non-human character’s behavior or morals by human standards. Soley because they function differently. Like, people joke about all cats having autism because they act weird, but that’s just normal cat behavior.
This relates to Wormwood because he very clearly isn’t good at talking, and while it could and probably is from him being sort of a child I think that’s because he’s a plant, and plants don’t communicate with words. They link together through roots and mycelium, in a way so foreign we could never experience. So to him speaking isn’t something that comes naturally.
Tangent over, I just think wormwood is very fascinating in that he’s sort of in between being a plant and something more like an animal. Like, a bridge between worlds.
Love the contrast between the Americans’ “Apollo” and the Soviets’ “Sputnik.” You got the Americans naming their rocket after a Greek god trying to communicate the grandness and importance of this rocket. And you got the Soviets naming their rocket “fellow traveler.” Like a friend you go on an adventure with together. This rocket is our little friend lol
PHEW.... just over a month of work but it's done 👏 As usual at the end I feel like a couple colors could have been changed but... I'm not doing this one again lmao
Okay! Due to (totally unexpected) popular demand:
CMYK Test Print PATTERN - pay what you want, a tip would be appreciated but no pressure!
magic system where “dark magic” and “light magic” are literal terms - dark magic consumes photons, making an area around the spell visibly darker, sometimes to an Extreme extent, and light magic releases photons.
because of this most dark mages tend to work in very brightly-lit areas (either artificial light or outside in the daytime) to fuel their spells and wear and use lightly coloured clothes and tools so that they’re easier to see in the dimness their spells create, whereas light mages wear heavy, sometimes leaden robes (depending on the work being done) and the magical equivalent of welding masks to protect themselves from what can be an extreme amount of light, and sometimes other kinds of electromagnet radiation!
needless to say this is incredibly confusing for anyone unfamiliar with the culture
