D.A.N.M Polycule Holiday Headcanons

Huxley bakes cookies every year cause it reminds him of Christmas with his moms

Damian goes to see the lights every year when his mom has the time (she makes sure to take at least one night off to do it with him every year)

Gavin has no idea what the holidays are really about or what the traditions are but he loves doing and learning about the activities with everyone

Lasko was raised Jewish but hasn't really celebrated since he left home, and honestly low key resents the holiday at first because of what happened with his family. The rest of the group bought him a Menorah when they learned about this

The first time Hux invites everyone over to bake with him Lasko ends up crying cause he realizes what he's been missing out on all these years

The others hug and cuddle him until he feels better, somebody brings him a large cup of hot cocoa with lots of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon it was Damian, to help make him feel better. The poor boy only cries harder.

Lasko stops crying because Damian said something meaning to be comforting and Gavin makes some innuendo about it and Damian loses his mind.

Freelancer teams up with Damian to make a wonderful Holiday dinner for everyone

Damian loves the Christmas horror movies, he watched Krampus multiple times the year it came out.

Huxley, Gavin, and Lasko set up a "blanket fort" which really ends up being a large pallet of blankets cause they couldn't find enough blankets to make a roof, and the whole group makes a cuddle puddle while watching Christmas movies and eating the fresh baked cookies

They watch Damian's pick first, the horror, and Lasko is hiding in Huxley's side the whole time

Then they watch a Halmark Romcom, Hux and Lasko's pick, Gavin has a field day with this cheesyness

And they finish the night with Jim Cary's The Grinch, Freelancer's pick

Gavin is really confused about the religious aspects of the holiday but damn does this boy have the Christmas spirit. After watching the shitty romcom he immediately suggests they all go caroling

He also insists they leave out milk and cookies for Santa , the others aren't sure if he thinks Santa is real or not but none of them wanna ruin it if he does so they don't say anything and make sure everybody gets a present from Santa under the tree just in case

Speaking of, their tree is fresh, insisted upon by Huxley, and they all went to the store and picked out some ornaments separately so the tree is a beautiful mishmash of all of their tastes

They all fall asleep cuddled up on the floor, with half finished hot cocoas and a huge plate of cookies obviously decorated by the 5 of them

The D.A.M.N polycule loves to slip things into Lasko's briefcase when he's not looking, little things for him to find later when he needs them.

Huxley leaves water bottles and little heating patches because he knows Lasko isn’t used to being on his feet all day.

Gavin leaves handwritten notes signed with kisses. (and a condom one time, that was a hilarious class for Gavin.) (He tries to leave them all the time, but Freelancer usually takes them out.)

Freelancer leaves new stationery that they know Lasko would like but won’t spend the money on: post-it notes shaped like stars, the good washi tape for his planners, the brand of pen he likes but won’t buy because he’s worried he’ll lose them.

Damien leaves little packets of ibuprofen, cough drops, and granola bars, things he knows Lasko wouldn’t think of but that’s why he has Damien.

Lasko has no idea why his bags are so heavy at the beginning of the work week, but it’s so worth it everytime he finds another token of affection from his family.

Crow Folkestone, aka Freelancer/Voyeur/Deviant/Silly!

Crow grew up moving around a lot and with not great parents. When his powers started manifesting, his family treated him even more like the dirt on the bottom of their shoes. After Caelum appeared to him for the first time, he ran away from his family and went no contact with them

He's very much got a grunge/skater kinda vibe to him. A lot of thrifted and oversized stuff. Baggy jeans, big shirts and sweatpants, chunky sneakers, yk the vibes

He's transmasc (he/they/it), he presents pretty masc but he doesn't bind and has a pretty large chest, so he kind of appears androgynous because of it

Crow is white (irish/scottish)

About 25-26 ish?

Crow is chubby, with large thighs, a thick tummy, large chest, and the kind of arms that dads who don't work out but are still very strong have

Crow's closest relationships are the D.A.M.N. crew. my version of redacted has them as a polycule! crow and gavin are primary partners though. they love their boys so much. and also caelum, but like. he's their son

Crow has a numerous amount of hobbies, from photography (loves bringing a digicam everywhere he goes, esp with the D.A.M.N. crew, and recording memories), to writing poetry, to singing and playing guitar/bass, and more! They love video games, and reading books, and watching videos, and writing, and hanging out with the crew!

Not technically a deity, but a hero from myth: Crow would be Patroclus. Their dedication to their friends and lovers is so strong they would die for any of them. They don't want to be the hero, and are uncomfortable with the attention it can bring, but they're thrusted into the role anyways and have grown because of it

Redacted Audio's D.A.M.N. Storyline!

Crow is incredibly dedicated and very understanding. Past relationships have made them very much a pleaser and go-with-the-flow about things (/neutral, some partners were good, most were not, but both experiences shaped him). They understand limits and don't expect anything in return, even if they secretly want someone to dote on them. Crow wants to be the muse and not just the artist sometimes. In the past they were more the one doing things for their partner/s, so having Gavin do things for them like they would do still catches them off guard now and then. For their friends, Crow likes to treat them almost like other partners; that same dedication is given to them as well. Crow likes making sure everyone is happy and is heard

Crow is the truest "listenersona" i have, so their design is actually based on what i look like irl! just with a few differences (eye color and some minor body details mainly)

Crow stands at 5'8 1/2, with shaggy/curly dark brown hair in a shag mullet with fluffy bangs. A small braid hangs from behind their ear, given to them by Caelum. They have brown eyes and freckles across their face and body. They have piercings on their face and ears (septum & paired nostrils, center labret, stretched ears [2g], four more piercings in each ear), and tattoos across their body. Recently he got on testosterone. He's pretty hairy. Almost like a cub?

Crow is absolutely a puppyboy. It's also a polyglot! He calls Gavin "playboy", as well as "lover boy". Absolute stoner. It's assigned the D.A.M.N. crew as Muppets. He is just chef's kiss.

This listener lab design is one of the coolest things ever! Is it weird to say thank you? I love when creators give back to their community like this, and this is such a good way of doing that!

Heyo! You're welcome for making your design, I don't think it's weird really, it goes a long way to remind people that artists and creators are in fact human and do not exist for the benefit and entertainment of fandoms or people (you wouldn't believe the sense of entitlement on some folks really) but enough about that, here's the design for crow!

Design Notes!

There's a little something I like to keep in mind sometimes and something that I have to remind myself about from time to time which is:

"Sometimes people don't want your extra touch, they just want you to draw something for them."

That is something I had to keep in mind for this design so instead of going on a tangent in regards to how my own, I'll just let ya know how I interepreted your notes:

In particular, I chose to just take your visual notes literally, making sure to incorporate the different piercings where I could make them visible. Other stuff like its haircut, freckles, eyes and hair type were just thongs I took at face value.

Now when it came to a few other elements, things got tricky:

You specified that Crow had tattoos but never specified what those tattoos were so I decided to improvise by incorporating barbs, the anarchist symbol, a broken heart, a "live" tatoo and a star om their arms since they seemed to make sense for his backstory.

In terms of fashion, I leaned into the skater/grunge aesthetic to create something easy, breezy that could fit the vibe but also felt androgynous whilst leaning into masc territory.

A few special tidbits I incorporated was the braid-by which I mean that I used a pink hair tie on it to colour match with Caelum and gave Crow a hot pink collar that I like to think he got from Gavin.

Crow genuinely feels like a character who doesn't see themself as the main character but perceivs himself as an extra in everybody else's life, its fashion does come from a more bold subculture but they also seem very much to be the type to be the lone skater dude. In conjunction with this, your pick of Patroclus was interesting as it general supports my theory that Crow likely doesn't see themself as their own person but as a part to other people's stories. As such, I felt it best to give crow an appearance that would match that, something that would at least look different to your average Joe but wouldn't seem to out of place in a city like Dahlia I'm California.

Your day had been horrible. All you wanted to do was curl up and forget about everything, but when you returned home two of your partners weren’t going to let you ignore your feelings.

this is a huxley & gavin focused chapter, still implied to be the polycule but only hux and gav make an appearance.

The door to your apartment shut behind you with a thud. Your hands were shaking and your head was spinning and all you wanted to do was cry. But before you could disappear and wallow in what a horrible day it was you heard Gavin call to you from the other room.

“Deviant, you’re home late.”

Footsteps started growing louder before you had a chance to dash off or even respond to Gavin so you decided to resign yourself to your fate. You took in a deep shaky breath and tried to look as put together as you could, hoping it was enough to convince the demon you were okay. 

When the footsteps stopped you were surprised to find not only Gavin standing to greet you but Huxley as well. They both stood there looking at you. Huxley stood behind Gavin, peering over his shoulder. Although the two men were close in height Huxly still had a few inches on Gavin which gave him advantage to see you while still standing behind the demon. They smiled at first, but after only a second of looking at you both of their smiles turned into frowns. As always your partner could see right through you.

“What’s the matter dude?” Huxley asked, his voice laced with concerne.

They both walked closer to you, standing far enough away that they were still giving you a bit of space but close enough to grab onto you if they needed to. You hated seeing them look at you like they were looking at you in that moment. They looked sad and more than a little bit worried. You hated having those emotions directed at you, you wanted them to stop looking at you like that. You didn’t want them to be sad. They were clearly in a good mood before you came in, why did you have to ruin that. 

“Nothing. I’m fine.” You tried to lie, tried to get them to stop worrying, but the way they looked at each other and then back at you you knew they didn’t believe you.

“No you're not Freelancer.” 

Gavin’s words left no room for argument. It was clear he and Hux both knew that you werent okay, and it seemed that neither of them were going to let you try to lie your way out of this situation.

“You can talk to us. We're here for you dude. Let us help.” Huxley said, stepping in closer.

The tone in his voice is what really got to you. He sounded so worried and yet so sincere. Your eyes started to water and no matter how hard you tried you couldn’t stop yourself from crying. It was what you wanted after all, if you were in a better state you may even find some humor in the conclusion.

You started sucking in air, trying your hardest to get something other than a sob out but today truly wasn’t your day and all you could do was fall deeper into a crying mess. Huxley wrapped his arms around you tightly. Pulling you flush against his chest and letting you bury your head into his chest. You held onto Hux like a lifeline, gripping  onto his shirt tightly. 

You both sunk to the ground, Huxley made sure that you didn’t fall and hurt yourself, and tried to keep you as close to him as you could with you both sitting on the floor now. Huxley stroked your back gently as he spoke.

“If you keep crying like that I’m gonna cry too.”

Huxley’s comment drew a strained laugh out of you, but ultimately didn’t stop your tears. You pulled your face away from his chest and furiously wiped at your eyes and nose. You stared at the wet spot your tears left on your sleeve until you felt a smaller hand rest on your shoulder.

You turned to see that Gavin had sat down on the floor with you and Hux. He was further away from you than Huxley was but he still sat close by, enough that he could rest his hands on you. He squeezed your shoulder and then moved his hand to wipe away a few tears on your face.  

“It’s okay, Freelancer.” His words were soft and his hand was still caressing your cheek as he spoke.

You reached out to hold his free hand. He squeezed your hand in return and let you hold onto him however tightly you needed. Huxley shifted around which led you to turn your attention back to him. You noticed that his eyes really were glossy like he was about to cry, and it almost made your own tears start up with a vengeance again. But if he could hold it together then so could you, you thought.

“Are you feeling up to talking about it?” He asked softly.

You took in a deep breath before answering his question. 

“I just had a really bad day.” 

Huxley gave you one of his famous lopsided smiles, it wasn’t nearly as bright as you normally get from Hux but you still appreciated seeing him smile at you. It was clear that both Huxley and Gavin were both worried about you but they were willing to help you feel better in any way you knew how and you appreciated that. You wanted everything to feel alright, you wanted to just pretend that today didn’t happen, but your feelings still hung heavy over your head and they were impossible to ignore even after you had mostly calmed down from your crying fit.

“Why don’t we get off this floor, and get you changed out of these outside clothes. Then we can sit and talk some more if you want?” Gavin gave your hand another squeeze and looked to you for approval for his idea.

You nodded your head at him, “Yeah, I think I would like that.”

Gavin began to stand up and you moved to do the same, but before you could do anything Huxley leaned over and kissed the top of your head. It caught you a bit off guard and when you looked him in the eyes afterwards, he was just smiling at you. But even without words you got the message and for the first time on this horrible day you actually smiled.

First Sight by Adiescar Chase I cant really explain? it´s only because Lasko said he had a crush on them for as long as he´d known them. 3. Glue Song by Beabadoobee The cutest song for the cutest couple!!! This song is sweet and so beautiful, i can only think about Lasko´s crush on Freelancer, and how he felt before confessing, and being in disbelief after they reciprocated that crush, too!!

David/Angel 1. Je te laisserai des mots by Patrick Watson shut up it´s not only because my angel is french, i swear 2. Angel Baby by Troye Sivan I´m not gonna lie, i didn´t associate them with this song too much until i realized the pronouns used for the person he´s talking about were he/him pronouns. Until then, i always thought the song was cute, but personally, it wasn´t the vibe i had for them in mind. now, after months listening to it, i fucking adore it, and i can't agree more about the fact that it´s THEIR song.

Gavin/Freelancer 1. die first by Nessa Barrett I always think about the fact that Gavin will outlive Freelancer, and thanks to that thought, i feel like this song somehow explains how Freelancer feels about it, even though they never say it. 2. sex by EDEN im inviting people to listen to this song because its amazing and personally, i associate this one with gavin the most, especially about how he felt for freelancer once he realized he had feelings for them.

D.A.M.N Polycule - Nobody Loves You by Similar Kind This is probably the sweetest song i´ve ever heard and i can only think about the polycule with it. For me, their love is as pure as this song and i love it <3

Vincent/Lovely - Overdrive by Conan Gray This song talks about catching feelings too fast and going all the way in in a relationship, and i think it fits them a lot.

Asher/David (Imperium) - Sparks by Coldplay "And i know, I was wrong But i won´t let you down"

Vincent/Stranger - You´re Haunting Me by Blackbriar This song gives me the chills in the best way, specially if we take in consideration the hc about Lovely being the surge stranger´s reincarnation. i guess this also counts as Vincent/Lovely???

Ok, here are some headcanons I have for the D.A.M.N polycule. Hope you enjoy and please don’t repost my works😊.

🌌 most of the polycule have their hair dyed/ bleached in one way or another.

🌌Huxley has dark roots and light green tip, he usually keeps it in a man bun unless he’s sleeping.

🌌on lazy weekends he lets the freelancer do two French braids in his hair, it’s the perfect length for it.

🌌Gavin has long silver hair Like one of the lotr elves, since he can shape shift he can change it to any color and style he likes, but this is the one he does the most often.

🌌sometime he makes it pink to match his eyes for fancy occasions.

🌌 lasko has ashy blond hair that goes down it’s his jawline. It’s not quite as long as huxley’s but he’s still proud that he managed to grow it out that long.

🌌wether it’s because of his anxiety and the fact that he’s constantly stressing about something or a side effect of being an air elemental, he has some Grey streaks in his hair. It’s hard to tell unless he’s in the direct sunlight but they’re there.

🌌 Damien naturally has dark hair he doesn’t like bleaching his hair because he did it to much as an angsty teen, so his hair is a very dark and subtle auburn.

🌌his hair is the shortest of the bunch but its just long enough that he has to put his bangs and little front row pieces into a little ponytail in the warmer months.

🌌 there are Soooo many clothes missing from huxley’ s closet, because he is the tallest he has the largest clothes and they swamp on anyone but Huxley who wears them.

🌌 it’s gotten to the point where whenever Huxley goes shopping my for hoodies he sends pictures of it to the polycule group chat for approval.

So like I've said in a post I've made, I'm going to talk about him

Like what I said in that post, if you've considered damn crew polycule, I think you should consider: damn crew + Xavier polycule

SO HERE'S DYNAMICS WITH HIM AND DAMN CREW FOR THE ONES WHO ARE STILL WITH ME

(I'm not so great at writing so please bare with me)

I imagine him to be a bit flirty (and a bit of a menace) so if you add that in the polycule:

Gavin + Xavier = the flirty bros (maybe add freelancer into the mix and boom you get: chaos)

Lasko + Xavier = air conditioner. I've been thinking about this for awhile now and I've chosen to bring this out into the world. (he'd be a great helper for Lasko get through summer)

Jokes aside, Xavier would be a great pep-talker to Lasko!!

Huxley + Xavier = this is quite obvious but captain and player!! You can't tell me everyone didn't dare them to kiss once in one of their team hangouts

Damien + Xavier = I know Eric did say Xavier runs hot because technically he's still a fire elemental but I like the idea he has cold hands so Xavier could help damien chill out, maybe tell him it's okay to not be perfect once in a while (them cuddling: Damien calming down to Xavier's cool touch, and Xavier huddling close to Damien cause he's warm)

Freelancer + Xavier = chaotic duo definitely, but also great cheerleaders (best duo to come to if you need hyping up)

If there's one thing you need to know about are the blueprint to me. Alright, this is my top ship, can't be beat. I like to think that this song is from Damien's perspective once they get together. In general, I think they bring out the best in each other and this song fits that.

LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN (/LH)— Avior is one of my favorite characters. Starlight is one of my favorite listeners. Their storyline is one of my favs overall. That being said, I also love a little pain and this song cuts me deep. It feels like it sums up where they're both at mentally when it comes to the meridian stuff.

Much more from Cutie's perspective, but I feel like this captures their inner turmoil and how that conflicts with their love for Geordi. I love them and their story in general, and I think this song shows a certain will for their relationship to work out while still highlighting how Cutie has their own stuff to work through.

This specific version. The almost quiet feel to it compared to the original draws you in, pulls you close. Gendering aside, it's even more fitting post-Inversion.

Reminds me of quiet nights and healing as you go, which I feel is a major part of their relationship development. To me, this gives off "I want to be there for you and help you when the darkness clouds your mind". Again, always a sucker for.

This is an ultra specific pick based entirely off of the fic "And That’s Why We Broke Up" by @dominimoonbeam (your writing is >>>). I get that it's canon divergence, I get that this ship ain't for everyone, I get that I'm 99% certain it'd never happen in canon. Beginning of the song reminds me of Elliott showing Sunshine dreams dreamscapes and stuff. That mixed with the friends to lovers vibes from the beginning of their relationship/dynamic and overall energy this song has made it fit for me.

[Alexis/Sam] (LET ME EXPLAIN /LH)

This ship isn't for me and I debated adding it at all, but this is one of the first songs I thought to add for this. I think it absolutely fits from Alexis' perspective and, if you view her as a more complex character rather than one dimension, it makes you hurt in a "It is what it is but damn" kind of way. Especially the line "strangers to friends, friends into lovers, then strangers again". Like come on, it fucks me up to imagine that pain after everything that transpired between her and Sam.

Warden x The D.A.M.N polycule... thoughts>>>?

okay so like a what if type situation. warden isn’t ya know kidnapped the break out doesn’t happen. inversion does. dump needing as much demonic fire power basically lets vega out and tells warden to essentially hold the leash. so when gavin sees this he’s of course in shock vega is there until he sees what’s essentially a magic leash and the fact vega is unable to speak or really move all that much.

warden ends up offering their place out of the city to the damn group so they can recover and it becomes common for them to hang out there

they learn more about warden, warden meets caelum and they apologize for what he’s been through (which is what really drives in the nail for gavin to realize) for freelancer and huxley its when they find out about wardens “family” completely unempowered humans they’ve basically been an odd family member to, including babysitting the newest infant. for damien its when they sit out on the back porch and they just talk. for lasko its them getting coffee together before work and warden encouraging him to order with a gentle easily moveable hand on his back. its their offer of easing the anxiety for him and emphasizing how its not a burden how he is never a burden to them.

warden (at least my view of them) is an isolationist but has a deep understanding of other people. they view humanity as the dangerous force it is but view humans as their own individuals, no matter how long they live they don’t dismiss people because of it. they help the group grow and well when work stress finally catches up to them they find out what its like for that load to be carried not just by themself.
