↳ synopsis : after pining over you for so long, dan heng has finally worked up the nerve to ask you out. and he’s nervous, extremely nervous because, it’s his first date with anyone.

↳ note : for lovers who hesitate by JANNABI (i am so in love with him, i'm very normal)

dan heng has never before been more nervous about something than he is now. is that a bit of a stretch? yes, but he is still extremely nervous. he knows you’ve already said yes to going out with him but he wasn’t expecting it?

he had already set his expectations low, so when he eventually worked up the courage to ask you out he wouldn��t get his hopes crushed.

but, when you said yes and asked him to text you the details, he was surprised and relieved at first -- then his nerves got the best of him.

now, he has everything set up. where he planned to take you as well as the time he was supposed to pick you up, different conversation topics, he even picked out his outfit beforehand for crying out loud.

needless to say, dan heng is excited but nervous, very nervous.

and when dan heng approached you and asked you out with his typical nonchalant face, you were surprised as well.

you had always thought of dan heng as someone who was not interested in romantic relationships but instead as someone who kept to themselves more, surrounding himself in books to keep him company, not a companion.

well, that is what he is, he does keep to himself and you do often see him studying in the library or walking around campus with his headphones in.

so you hope he didn’t take notice of the stunned look on your face when he asked you out.

when the day finally came, the both of you are excited and nervous.

typical first date jitters.

you staring in your mirror, nitpicking your outfit and jewelry while dan heng is trying his hardest to tame his hair and find where he left his cologne.

you’re tying the laces of your tennis shoes just when you get a text from him.

dan heng ◡̈ : i should be there in about 5 minutes.

y/n : okok ! super excited to see you !

dan heng ◡̈ : same :)

dan heng is in the elevator of your apartment complex and just your quick response to his message eased his nerves for a split moment, before the doors open with a ding! and he realizes he’s on your floor.

he takes a deep breathe then walks out down the ivory painted hallways, looking at the numbers on the doors before he finally reaches the one he was searching for.

you’re grabbing your bag and wallet while dan heng is standing in front of your chestnut stained door, straightening his sweater and wiping his clammy hands on his black jeans out of nervousness.

the period of anxious waiting and final touches are done for both of you.

and it’s finalized when you hear the wood of the front door of your apartment being knocked on and done when he hears your footsteps approaching it.

as your hands go to reach the knob of the door, you take a deep breathe then finally grip the brass.

“hi…” you greet him shyly. “did you want to come in for a second? i just need to go make sure shushu’s water dish is full.”

“shushu?” dan heng asks as he comes in, with you closing the door behind him.

“she’s my pet cat, did you want to meet her? i can bring her out to see you.”

“ah…” dan heng coughs. “are you sure that’s okay? i know that cats sometimes get stressed out when meeting new people.”

“it should be fine, she didn’t have any issues meeting march or stelle. but it’s okay if you don’t want to see her, of course.”

“maybe i can meet her when i drop you off later? the café closes early on sundays.” he suggests.

it’s not like he doesn’t want to meet your cat, dan heng loves cats and cats love him, he thinks… but right now he really wants to go on the date with you, even if he doesn’t know how to say that outright to you.

“oh, yeah! that’s smart.” you smile at him. “i’ll be right back then.”

as dan heng stands in your apartment’s front corridor, he looks around. it’s your place, but it’s so you. the plants, the decorations, and the knick knacks that are littered throughout the place.

the empty beige walls are filled with so much life, your life.

pictures of you, of stelle, of march, and shushu, of course. it’s warm. you made this place your home, a part of your life and dan heng hopes that he can be too.

“okay!” he hears your voice, breaking him out of his trance. “should be ready to go now, sorry about that.”

“it’s okay, i didn’t mind.” he affirms then opens the front door for you.

“oh, thank you.” you thank him as he steps out behind you. you then pulled your key out from your bag and locked the door.

“let’s go. is… is it bad to say that i’m excited to be going out with you?” you turn and ask him as you two begin to walk down your hallway, footsteps tandem.

dan heng laughs awkwardly but turns and smiles at you. “no, uh, not at all because i think i’m just as excited as you are.” he admits.

“i’m happy to hear that,” you say, trying to hide your growing shyness. “i’ve been wanting to spend more time with you.”

“me too.”

“i seriously don’t think you understand how nervous i actually was for our first date.”

“really? you seemed pretty like… relaxed? to me.”

the two of you were currently bundled up to combat the dropping temperatures of fall turning into winter, sharing a throw blanket in your living room and reminiscing on your first date together.

“i thought i was going to screw everything up!” dan heng admits with a laugh. “and shushu not liking me right away also shook me up, i’m not going to lie.”

you giggle at the brunette, cuddling closer under the blanket. “shushu is very cautious. besides, you didn’t mess anything up. i thought it was a perfect first date. you were very gentlemanly.”

“gentlemanly?” he ponders.

“yeah! you held the doors open for me, paid for our order, and you listened to what i was saying. not only that, you added onto the conversation, i really liked that. you left a very good impression on me, dan heng.”

“i’m glad i left a good impression on you, but shushu didn’t seem to think so.” dan heng mumbles defeatedly.

“i’m still so sorry that she scratched you, i’ve never seen her like that. but at least she likes you now!” you joke.

“yeah, now she does. it only took like 3 months of me coming over for her to like me.” he says then turns to look at shushu as she’s resting beside him on your beige couch.

“she’s obsessed with you now, everytime you leave she cries and looks for you.” you tell him.

“yeah?” dan heng asks, still looking at the resting feline.

“yes, i swear.” you say, reaching forward to grab the tv remote from the coffee table, pausing the movie that the two of you were watching. “so, are you still staying over?”

dan heng hums, faking thinking over your question.

“hey! answer me!” you whine, playfully hitting his chest. “i want to go to the cafe with you tomorrow morning, so you have to stay over, okay? i need your help with studying for my exam.”

“ah… i don’t know, should i stay over?” dan heng jokingly questions. “what do you think shushu?” he turns to ask the cat.

“dan heng, you do realize that i’m your girlfriend and not shushu, right? you’re in my apartment not hers…”

“i’m joking!” he laughs at your pouting face. “yeah, of course i’m staying over.” he says, leaning over, pecking your temple.

“you’re paying for the coffee.” you say.

“i wouldn’t let you pay to begin with.”

you hum happily, snuggling closer to dan heng then unpausing the movie.

“i love you.” you whisper to him.

“i love you too, shushu”

“wow. really?”

“kidding, i love you too.” he admits, wrapping his arms around your torso, pulling you impossibly closer.

Hello. I'm sorry if this is sudden but I was wondering if you took story requests and if you do, could you make a platonic Dan heng IL story with the reader being the child of his previous incarnation Dan feng, the reader is great at telling stories and they would use the power they inherited from their mother to change the shape of pieces of paper into different people and monsters. (I was pretty inspired by the movie Kubo and the two strings) Jing Yuan is the one to tell Dan Heng about the reader even though he doesn't know them very well, but Jing Yuan felt like Dan Heng had the right to know about the reader especially after the reader had an encounter with Blade. (If this is too much that's completely understandable and I wish you a good day/afternoon and or night😊)

A/N - These 2 requests are kinda similar in a way. So I thought to mix them together in the one fic!! I hope that's alright to the two anons who requested (づ ◕‿◕ )づ This isn't my best work, love-hate relationship with it, leaning more towards hate but I hope youse enjoy this anyways (hopefully lol)

Warnings: Wrongful imprisonment, reader was forced to stop aging with a potion, hints at abuse/torture but not said.

Extra: Reader is a child and there for shorter then most characters, Reader has horns and a tail (Vidyadhara)

“Dan Heng, there you are. I’ve been looking for you everywhere”

Dan Heng looked up from the book he was reading and stared at the white haired male.

“General?”

“Please, we’re far past formalities. In any case, there’s someone I think you should meet”

The raven haired male closed his book before it away and stood up, raising a small eyebrow at the General, crossing his arms, he spoke, inquiring more about what he meant.

“Who? I don’t think I was invited to anything”

“Your kid…well more specifically Dan Feng's kid”

Dan Hengs eyes widen just the slightest fraction, slightly taken aback by the information, but he agrees to go meet the child of his previous incarnation.

Jing Yuan offers to walk with him to where they were staying, while also providing information about them to make the “reunion” a bit more bearable in a way. Their name is [Name], although not technically biologically his, they did have his genes, Dan Heng wasn’t gonna question that.

[Name] was stuck in the Shackling Prisons for a while now. Ever since Dan Feng had been banished from the Loufu, some cloud knights thought it wasn’t enough and decided to imprison his kid as well, it wasn’t until Dan Heng came back and got the banishment lifted that they came clean.

Dan Hengs eyes grow concerned, looking at Jing Yuan.

“And the cloud knights?”

“Punished, they didn’t get any permission to send anyone to the prison. I released [Name] already, so all there is left is for you to meet them…don’t feel pressured to take them in as your kid though…I know you don’t wanna be tied to your past incarnation”

Dan Heng nodded a bit slowly, continuing to follow Jing Yuan by his side as the two continued walking. It wasn’t a long walk but Dan Heng still thought hard about what he’d do.

Eventually the sounds of kids clapping and cheering reached his ears, he looked up and caught sight of a shorter Vidyadhara talking to some of the younger Foxians. Their hands folded some paper, creating a paper crane before they clasped it fully around their hand, and out came an actual bird.

“And the bird flew away to meet with their family! Then they lived happily ever after”

The Vidyadhara chirped with a smile as the kids around them clapped, urging them to tell another one. Another story.

“[Name]! There you are, I brought over your fath- I mean…your fathers reincarnation”

The small Vidyadhara turns their head and looks curiously at the General before their eyes landed on Dan Heng. Their eyes widened a bit before they slowly walked over. And koala hugged his leg. Dan Heng was taken aback by this action but did not push the kid off, instead slowly leaning down and patting their head awkwardly. He was frozen in place due to the sudden hug.

Jing Yuan chuckled at the sight, before turning to leave.

“I’ll leave youse two it then, if you need help. You know where to find me”

“Papa?”

Before Dan Heng could even reply, the kid spoke one word that made him freeze a bit more. He never did like when people connected him to his past. Always telling people he wasn’t ‘Dan Feng’

“I’m not him…sorry…I’m Dan Heng”

“Papa!”

The kid pouted at him, eyes looking at him with puppy eyes, Dan Heng averted his gaze and tried to change the subject.

“Let’s…explore the Loufu together”

“Papa look! It’s a dragon plushie, can I have it please”

[Name] begged their father, looking up at him as they tugged his shirt.

“Again…not your papa but…sure, any particular reason why you want it?”

“I want to be able to cuddle you at night if you’re not there”

Dan Hengs eyes widened a bit as he looked away with an embarrassed blush. He wasn’t even in his Vidyadhara form but then again, the kid seemed to adamantly believe that he was their father.

Still, without a second thought he took out his wallet.

“Bellybog?”

“Belobog, like bell-o-bog”

Dan Heng speaks, guilding [Name] on how to pronounce the place. He didn’t know how it happened, but one minute he brought the kid on the express, the next March insisted they bring them to Belobog to see the snow.

“They’ve been stuck in that yucky prison for who knows how long, they gotta see the snow…oh! And build a snowman, we should have a snowball fight as well and-”

March proceeded to talk about the possible games and things they could do once they landed. So here he was helping [Name] with building a snowman.

“We should give it horns!”

“Horns?”

“Like you Papa”

He stiffened a bit at being called ‘Papa’ once more, sighing out. He takes two sticks and sticks them on the snowman's head to resemble horns.

“I’m not Dan Feng”

“Sooo, you have a kid now?”

Came a teasing voice, Dan Heng sighed and turned his head to Himeko who was helping to feed the kid some new things. Pom Pom wanted to see what the kid would like to eat, so Himeko was helping.

“Not mine…”

“But they see you as their father, you don’t see them as your kid?”

Dan Heng was quick to shush Himeko as the shorter Vidydhara looked curiously up at the two. He thanked the aeons they were still learning a few things due to the isolation, though…he did feel bad about it still.

Himeko could only laugh softly…until a crash was heard on the other side of the train. She muttered under her breath, something about March and the Trailblazer being irresponsible and prone to cause accidents, yet a smile was still painted on her face.

“Here Dan Heng, little [Name] here just needs to try one more things, you feed it to them”

She said, gently pushing the chair the child was sitting on to Dan Heng, he made no objections, simply sighed and fed the kid.

“Papa?”

“Hm?”

“I love you, I’m happy you’re back”

Dan Heng froze his movements at his kids' words, which in fact gave the kid some time to climb onto his lap and cuddle themselves in it, wrapping their tail around their body. They slowly fell to sleep with a smile on their face.

Dan Heng took a bit to process everything but sighed, carefully standing up and bringing the kid to his room so they could have a better sleep.

“Dan Heng, you left your-”

The red haired woman's voice died down as she saw the scene in front of her, with a knowing smile, she slowly closed the door and walked away, shushing the other passengers.

What lay in the archives was a small Vidydhara resting with their eyes closed, sleeping peacefully. Their bed? A taller Vidyadhara with his arms around the kid, cradling the kid as his tail rested around him as well.

You’re very infamous around every part of the universe, known to be the mad in the head well as late. That's how others see you; they just don’t understand how you view your work. Is it so bad to want to achieve so badly to the point of risking lives or your own? Of course not! If such a thing exists, you’re meant to know everything about it.

He didn’t fall for your stupid, innocent appearance. “He’s falling short, sorry (name)” Kafka smiled. "Aw, what a pity he would have looked good strapped down to my table.” You sigh. If only you could do all sorts of experiments on that man (like testing how well his healing works), but you know he is precious to the stellaron hunters.

Whenever he came back from missions, you always brought him to your lab, and it became a routine after that, just going straight there after one step in the base. You always examine and touch him after he’s back, like wanting to see if there are any more new cuts on his body or, in general, how he reacts to different feelings. Does he still feel human, or is that part of him gone now?

You’re madly insane—a whole other, deeper level of insane—and the way you look at me with crazed eyes when you get the greatest result from your latest subject—it's what got him obsessed with you.

𝒟𝒶𝓃 𝐻𝑒𝓃𝑔

You like to tease him with your looks, fooling him; just pouncing on him and then teasing him so much! Then just laugh at his flustered face! How cruel could you be to him? If anyone else saw you both like this, he would just die of embarrassment, but come on, he worries so much. You don’t have anything currently to experiment on, so he’s going to be your little test subject, and you’re going to have some fun with him.

Everyone knows that once you set yourself a goal, you will pursue it no matter what. Finding everything about it is your goal for today. He’ll also take off his long jacket for better inspection on your part so you can see every little that may be hiding in plain sight. Chop chop, you don’t have all day, and you don’t have the patience right now.

Ah, he ran off, saying March was calling, even though she wasn't. Well, you’ll make some time for him tomorrow, so it’s fine.

Same thing with Dan Heng; you want to know how well-fit his body is, so instead of staring at him after he comes out of the shower and then having him freak out at the way you're staring at him, you were just analyzing with your eyes to see how strong he was. Well, now you just want to test his strength, so why doesn’t he come to your lab while on a day off? Maybe then he’ll believe you.

You watching him like that makes him a little flustered, very flustered. Don’t you see what you're doing? The way you bite your lip while staring at him has gotten him to go! You are truly evil! Of course, you know what you're doing, but he doesn’t need to know such things.

Could I request your opinions on how Jing Yuan, Blade and Dan Heng confess to their crush please? Modern School AU if you don't mind :D

A/N: Yes yes, I am taking requests, and I don't mind at all doing a Modern School AU! Thank you for the request (and being my first request lol) and I hope you like this :)) I also wrote how I believe they would've met you and/or fell in love <3

Jing Yuan is most certainly one of the more popular boys at school. With his charming smile and pretty face. It's no wonder he got a good handful or more admirers. Let's be honest, you probably are also one of the admirers right? (Or not, who knows)

I can picture Jing Yuan and yourself being childhood friends. His feelings developed when you two were young, and what he thought would disappear in fact grew the more the two of you hung out. Oh but he is absolutely NOT complaining at all. It's you, if he wanted to be in love with anyone it'll be you.

Perhaps during a quiet and peaceful moment, where he would lay his head on your lap after an especially tiring day at school, he'd close his eyes to rest, feeling your fingers play with his hair. He'd mumble out a soft "I love you" as he drifted off to sleep.

He's not even embarrassed when you bring it up to him once he awakes. Just confirms what he said and even specifies that he 'like likes' you.

Blade seems like that one quiet kid in class, but instead of being bullied, people are scared of him. One glance from him and people may shy away. It's tiring to him when he just wants to ask for a pencil or something but he doesn't care really. He has his own small friend group anyways. However when you are partnered up with him and don't shy away from his glance and treat him as a regular person. He can't help but feel a bit surprised.

He couldn't even help falling in love with you due to how kind you were and in general how you treated him normally among other factors. Assuming the two of you became close enough to be friends. I think his way of confessing wouldn't even be him, I don't think he'd confess, not really. I feel like he'd be afraid to be rejected or just not care too much about his feelings, though Kafka for sure noticed how Blade acted a lot softer when you were around. Even if it was unnoticeable by others, you think she wouldn't notice?

On Valentines day at school she would plant flowers and chocolate in your locker or on your desk, sign it off as a secret admirer and request to meet behind the school. And with the help of SilverWolf, convince Blade to go behind the school at the time you'd be there.

With you looking at him softly and the gifts "he got for you" in hand, and the snickers of his friends from behind a nearby corner. It seems he may as well be honest with you about his feelings right?

Dan Heng is also a quiet kid in class. I feel like he'd have a mix of people who secretly talk behind his back, though he always knows what they said and who they are no matter how discrete they try to be. But also he would have admirers. (have you seen how pretty he is??)

I think what would've got his attention on you is when you stood up for him. Some kids were talking bad about him during a free class, and he was going to shrug it off like always when you suddenly called the kids out. He's quick to step in before a loud arguments ensues but gives you a small thanks. He didn't mind what people thought about him but the fact someone who was practically a stranger to him stood up for him? He definitely acknowledges that.

March 7th probably introduced you too the friend group, he gave a small nod hi as he saw you. Due to this, you two hung out more and more together. When he realised he grew feelings for you, he consulted March who almost instantly outed his feelings for you due to how surprised and happy she was for him. And although March tried, none of her suggestions to confess was really Dan Hengs taste or style...He eventually decided to just write a small poem for you to confess instead. Giving it to you after school before retreating to his own house.

First time writing for HSR characters, hopefully it's alright aha. Proof read but I tend to miss things anyways, so feel free to correct me if I missed anything :)

In the past, he had so many secrets. About who he was, where he came from and especially didn’t like to talk about before he came to the express. He was scared. Scared at how you would react. Scared that he would get you and take you away from him. Scared that you would leave him if you found out what his last reincarnation did.

He was terrified When you saw him as imbibitor lunae, but your reaction wasn’t what his brain imagined at all. You looked happy. Just kept on staring at him, giving him so many compliments. “Aren't you scared of me or hate me?” He looked at you seriously. “Why would I hate you? I’m not mad either if that's what you're thinking.” You aren’t mad at him or having anything negative against him.
