A not-so-quiet life Pt.8
Summary: You could say your life at the Greene’s farm after they took you in was a quiet one… as quiet as it could be considering corpses were walking around as flesh-eating monsters. At least, until a group of survivors in need take shelter in the farm.
Inspired by the request: The reader used to have an emotionally and physically abusive ex and the group runs into her ex and his group and shit hits the fan and the reader gets hurt.
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Reader
Tags/Warnings: Violence and language typical twd style. Mentions of abuse and quite a lot of self-deprecating thoughts…and in the midst of all that, quite a lot of fluff too and also slow burn.
English’s not my first language so maybe there’re some mistakes, I apologize in advance.
Chapter: 8/13
-
Apparently, when Glenn and Daryl had said the road was not too blocked what they meant was that you could carefully drive through the abandoned cars, dodging the stranded walkers that roamed close.
They weren’t enough to be a problem and you were safe inside the car but you held your breath watching Daryl zigzag through the cars, leading you on his bike. You gasped aloud when a walker reached out for him but Daryl drove past it like nothing.
Maggie chuckled at that. “He’ll be fine, he’s used to it.”
You wondered why Daryl always went on his bike even if there was space in the car. No matter how much he loved the bike, you thought it was too much of a risk. He didn’t seem to share your opinion, he’d already brushed off your concern when you told him earlier, but seeing the walkers reaching our for him was wrecking your nerves.
Maggie was right, though, none of the walkers got to grab him. Glenn was driving slow, carefully maneuvering through walkers and cars, and Maggie opened her window and began sinking the knife into the heads of the closer monsters, and you followed her lead.
Eventually, you reached your destination, a big service area with a gas station, a small candies and gifts store, and a restaurant area. There seemed to have been a fire at the gas station and some burned and almost charred walkers were lying on the ground.
“That’s disgusting…” You said as you got out the car. “But with how big this place is we ought to find something.”
There were some walkers roaming around that began stumbling towards you. Maggie unsheathed her knife and made her way to them, followed by Glenn, while Daryl stayed slightly behind to shoot arrows at the monsters. You took your knife too, feeling a bit unsure about how to proceed but you sank it into the closer monster's head before sending it to the ground with a kick, yanking back your knife.
“Well done!” Maggie told you without stopping pushing forwards.
With a whistle, one of Daryl’s arrows embedded itself deep into the head of another walker which was getting close to you and then you felt Daryl’s hand on your shoulder.
“Don’t get behind.”
He warned you, shouldering his crossbow in favor of his knife, sinking it into another monster’s head, following Maggie and Glenn while you did the same until all the walkers were put down.
“Alright…” Maggie surveyed the place, hands on her hips, before looking at Glenn. “I say Glenn and I go to the gifts store and Daryl and Y/N to the gas station.”
“Alright, let’s go.” Glenn nodded.
You followed Daryl to the gas station, scrunching your nose at the smell of the burned walkers. It seemed all of them had died like that, and you yelped startled when a half-charred one opened its eyes with a small growl, reaching out and grabbing Daryl’s ankle. He yanked his leg away from its grip as nothing, kicking the monster on the face.
“Careful,” you said quietly, bending down to sink your knife in the head of the walker.
“It doesn’t have legs,” Daryl replied, not even looking at it.
“It can still bite and scratch.” You retorted.
You scooped around the outside but couldn’t find anything useful, the place seemed to have been raided, and so you made your way to the front door of the small store. Daryl knocked on the glass and in a second, a walker began banging it and growling from the other side.
You looked at Daryl in silence, waiting for instructions. He tried the handler of the door, not locked.
“Alright, you yank the door open, hide behind it and I put it down as it goes out, alright?”
“What if there’s more than one in there?” You asked, unsure, scared of opening the door and a bunch of walkers falling on Daryl.
“Nah…” Daryl looked through the dirty window into the dark store, ignoring the thuds of the walker inside. “I think that’s the only one. Come on.”
“Okay…okay…” You took a deep breath. “Three, two, one…”
You yanked the door open, making sure to get behind it, and a walker stumbled out but Daryl quickly grabbed it by the neck and put it down. It wasn’t wearing the uniform of the gas station and you guessed it might have been a client or maybe someone who went scavenging and got bitten…you tried not to think much about who walkers had been before, though.
“Done.”
Daryl walked in first, crossbow ready, while you followed him lighting the inside of the store with your lantern. The place was a mess, it had obviously been scavenged before and everything that hadn’t been taken from the shelves was littering the floor…nothing useful though.
“Alright, I think we’re clear,” Daryl said when no other walker showed up and you couldn’t hear any noise. “Don’t get far.”
“This place’s too small for that anyway.”
It was a single corridor, rather small, and what you guessed was a backroom behind the counter. You made your way to the fridge, which unsurprisingly was almost empty too. Some rotten premade sandwiches and a couple cans of cheap beer was all you could find, beside some precooked meals. You took one but the quality was questionable, it might not look rotten like the sandwiches but you thought it was more than probable that they were bad too. With a disappointed sigh, you decided not to take them, afraid it’d end up poisoning you.
“I hope Glenn and Maggie are having more luck…did you find anything?” You asked Daryl, who was behind the counter.
“Nah. Just money.”
“Just money…that’s a sentence I never thought I’d hear…” You said and Daryl chuckled quietly.
There were some magazines on the floor and you began picking some of them at random and stuffing them inside your bag, maybe somebody’d like to read them, take their mind off your less than ideal life for a bit, have something to do during some of those tedious evenings.
Daryl raised his eyebrows at you at that.
“What, we don’t have books or nothing, I thought people might like them.” You said. “But alright, I guess you won’t be asking me if I can lend you this…” You teased, picking one about motorbikes and waving it in front of him.” Guess I won’t take it, I don’t have that much room left.” You were already stuffing it inside your mostly empty bag.
Daryl said nothing, just gave you a smirk, getting a gun he seemed to have found somewhere behind the counter inside his bag. He tried the handler of the door of the back room but it was looked.
“Maybe we’ll find something better there,” you said, trying to stay hopeful.
“See if you can find the key,” Daryl told you and you both began rummaging through the counter again. “It can’t be this one…wouldn’t fit.” He showed you a tiny, old key he had found.
“Oh, it’s so lovely!”
You squealed and Daryl looked at you weird. You blushed in embarrassment and rushed to explain yourself, though you weren’t sure if you weren’t just about to embarrass yourself even more.
“When I was a little girl my grandmother used to have a lot of really, really old keys, from her old house and furniture at the village where she used to live, I thought all those keys were beautiful, kind of magical you know, being that old, I thought they had to open a lot of secrets…” You began explaining, fidgeting and half expecting Daryl’d laugh at you for being so silly and think like that about simple keys, but he seemed to be genuinely interested in what you were saying.
“So eventually my grandmother gave them to me before she passed and  I began collecting old keys, had quite a good collection…” You smiled a bit melancholic at the memories, you hadn’t thought about it for years, and you felt your heart ache when you thought about your missing family.
You swallowed hard, trying to stop your emotions from showing, not wanting to embarrass yourself more. Daryl seemed to notice, though, because he reached out to squeeze your arm softly, and you gave him a small smile before you kept talking.
“Anyway, I left them at my parent’s home when I got married and moved, I thought a couple times about going to get them and keep the collection or start a new one, but my husband said it was stupid cos you know, they’re just keys, a waste of space…I too know it’s a silly thing…” You shrugged, giving Daryl an embarrassed smile, but his face was serious. “But I think I have enough authority on keys to say that tiny one is quite a lovely one.” You awkwardly joked.
Daryl was frowning at the key and then he passed it to you.
“Take it if you like it.”
“No, I know it’s silly…” You said softly, twirling the key. “Gonna see if I can find what it opens, though.”
“Gonna try picking the lock.”
While Daryl worked on that you looked around the counter again until you found a small metal box half hidden in a drawer. You tried the key and it worked but there was nothing you could consider useful inside, just some handwritten letters, a couple of old pictures, tickets from the cinema…someone’s life memories. It made you feel melancholic again.
You closed it carefully and went to join Daryl, who was still fighting against the lock until you heard a click.
“Alright…”
“Do you think there are no walkers inside?” You asked worriedly before he could open the door.
“Nah, they’d be banging the door at the noise.”
Turned out the room was so small only one of you could get in, but inside Daryl found stored a couple of cans of gasoline.
“Ricks gonna like this,” Hel said, finally giving you a full smile.
“Are we ready?”
“I’m gonna give the place a last scoop, go out and see if Glenn and Maggie are ready too.
You frowned at him, you two had already combed the tiny place, but nodded and followed his instructions, walking out just in time to see Glenn and Maggie walking out the other store. You waved to them and they began walking to the main building but you wanted to wait for Daryl before joining them. He was out after not even a minute.
“Alright, come on,” he said, placing a hand on the small of your back to guide you to the others as you stepped through charred walkers again.
“Did you find something useful?” You asked hopefully to Maggie and Glenn.
“Well…I got a bag full of candy.” Glenn showed you a plastic bag with different kinds of candies in it. “But I think they’re questionable…I thought it’d make Carl happy, though.”
“And my sister, probably.” Maggie smiled fondly.
“They make me happy too.” You chuckled. “I call dibs on that toffees.”
“Also a couple cheap sunglasses…” Maggie showed you the neon pink and yellow sunglasses that none had bothered taking already. “This couple of scarves…” Those were less hideous. “And I picked up some books so we can have something to read.”
“I picked up magazines too!” You said, looking pointedly at Daryl, who smirked. “I got one about babies for Lori, I’m not sure if she’ll like it or if she’ll throw it to my head…”
All in all, your haul didn’t seem that impressive and you were a little disappointed.
“This’s normal, sometimes we come from runs empty-handed, I know it’s frustrating,” Glenn told you. “But we still have to scoop that area.”
The door was locked from the outside with several metal bars, to keep the walkers inside, you guessed, you could already hear them banging the doors, and you helped the others remove the bars though you were quite unsure about how to deal with the monsters inside. You trusted the others knew what to do, though.
They stopped when there was only a bar left and you recoiled as the door shook dangerously under the pushes of the monsters.
“Alright…you two push the door close and try to let it open just a little, so only a walker can poke its head out and I put them down one by one,” Maggie instructed, talking to Glenn and Daryl. “What do you want to do? Push the door or help me with the walkers?” She turned to you.
“I…I don’t know.” You shrugged helplessly. “You sure about this? What if they can’t hold the door and all the walkers get outside at the same time, they’d all fall on you.”
“We have done it before, it’ll be fine,” Glenn reassured you, though you were still rather uncertain.
“Alright…” Maggie was looking at you as if in deep thought. “You get behind with your gun in case more walkers get out and we can’t handle it, you put down the most you can.”
You nodded though you feel a bit unsure about shooting walkers in such proximity to your friends, afraid of missing and hitting one of them instead.
“Pitty I can’t use your crossbow, it’d be silent.” You told Daryl while he got ready for his part of the plan.
Luckily, you didn’t need to shot as the others carried on with the plan without accidents, Glenn and Daryl pushing the door so only one or two walkers could get their heads through it, only to have Maggie putting them down as they did. You couldn’t help but feel a bit out of place, but you shook off the feeling.
The area was big, with some corpses on the floor, and it was full of tables, more corpses sitting down or lying on them, some half eaten, and you wondered how they had died, most seeming to have been shot on the head.
To the left there seemed to be the kitchen and bar area and to the right, there was a staircase.
“What do you think there’s on the other floor?” You asked quietly and Maggie shrugged.
“More tables? What if Glenn and I go check it and you two scoop this floor, we can go to the kitchen together later.”
You all nodded and while Glenn and Maggie made their way to the stairs, Daryl placed a hand on your shoulder to guide you with him.
“Wait, why don’t you go to the bar and I go through the tables, see if I can find something useful?” You told him.
“You sure?” He looked at you uncertain.
“They’re all dead right?” You pointed at the corpses. “Doesn’t seem to be any walker around…I can do it.”
Daryl seemed to think it for a bit, seeming unsure, but finally nodded. “Don’t stray, stay where I can see you.”
“Sure thing.”
A couple of the corpses had suitcases and big bags with them, and you began rummaging through them, trying not to think much about going through dead people’s stuff. You got some very basic first aid kits and some hygiene products that you were sure everyone would appreciate and then began to chose the clothes that you thought would be the most useful and would suit the most of you.
You were a bit startled when you heard some growling and you turned around to see a walker coming from the corridor that led to the bathrooms.
“Got it.” You told Daryl, as loud as you dared, so he wouldn’t worry too much and kept scavenging through the bar. You grabbed the walker roughly and sank your knife into its head.
There were some more growling and you saw another one coming from down the corridor, so you went to put it down too.
“Y/N,” You heard Daryl’s voice coming from the main area as you turned the corner of the corridor. “Stay here.”
“It’s okay, there’s only one more, it’s fine.”
You assured, already reaching out to grab it by the neck. When it struggled, though, part of the skin and part of the meat came off, making your hand slip and sink into the disgusting goo. You barely had time to feel disgusted by it, as the monster’s hands grabbed you and it snapped at you.
You didn’t quite manage to get a good hold of it and not knowing what else to do, you lifted your machete and hit it as hard as you could into the monster’s forehead, sinking it in. There was a sickening crack but the walker stopped moving, your knife reaching the brain.
From the corner of your eye, you saw another one stumbling to you and panic rushed through you when you tried to yank back your knife and you couldn’t, the hit seemed to have embedded it too deep into the skull and it was stuck.
Panicking, you stepped on the corpse to hold it down while you yanked at your knife until the other walker was on you. You grabbed its wrist, struggling to keep its claws away, recoiling as it began to snap and try to bit you, until your back hit the wall.
You tried to push it away but it was strong, you were grunting at the effort of stopping its hands from grabbing you while dodging its snaps, your brain working at full speed as you tried to  think how to end it, trying not to let your anxiety overcome you as it screamed to you that this was your end.
No matter how much you pushed it back, the walker wouldn’t relent, neither as you tried hitting his stomach with your knee, hard as you tried you weren’t managing to overpower it and you couldn’t think og a way of getting away from it and killing it without any weapon.
“Y/N!”
Suddenly the walker stopped struggling and fell on you, pushing you against the wall. You pushed it hard away from you and when it fell on the floor you realized it was dead with an arrow in his head.
You looked up and saw Daryl rushing to you, grabbing your arms when he reached you.
“Are you okay? It didn’t bit you, did it?” He asked frantically and you shook your head, finding it hard to speak. “I told you not to stray!”
“I’m sorry…” You said weakly, guilty tears threatening to fall down your eyes.
“It’s okay.” Daryl let out a sigh and pulled you to him, wrapping his arms around you as you snuggled to him, burying your face on his chest.
“Thanks.” You whispered, slowly calming down, and you felt his lips on your forehead.
“Y/N, are you okay?! What happened?!”
You heard Maggie’s panicked voice, she and Glenn seemed to have heard the commotion and they had rushed down, running to you and looking from the walkers to you and Daryl, who pulled away from you.
“I’m okay.”  You assured though you were still shaking and Maggie held you tight as you told her about the walkers you had encountered.
“You put them down?” She asked you.
“Just those two, Daryl killed that one, he saved me, my knife got stuck…” You explained, ashamed, even though nobody seemed to be blaming you for anything, they just seemed worried.
“How you managed to get it so stuck?” Glenn asked, trying to pull your machete out the walker’s skull, tanking him a few times until he managed, and you shrugged helplessly.
Back in the main area, you felt a bit better and less useless as you showed the others the stuff you had gotten from the suitcases.  Together you made your way into the kitchen, which was big and thankfully free of walkers. It took you all a bit of scooping around but finally, you managed to find a few cans of food and some dried vegetables that you hoped had been well preserved inside their hermetic packages.
“I’d say this had been quite a good run,” Glenn said cheerfully as you all got your haul into the car. “Food, gas, medical and hygiene supplies…we’ll be good for a bit.”
“Yeah,” Maggie wrapped an arm around your shoulders, noticing you weren’t as happy, you were still berating yourself for what had happened with the walkers. “Let’s go back to the camp.”
--
Well, it could have been worse, couldn’t it? Next chapter, we’ll see if those candies are edible...and we’ll see more talks between reader and Daryl. I’m sorry if some of you feel this story is moving slow, but I really enjoyed writing it like that.

Chapter 14
My foot had barley touched the stair when Daryls voice halted my movements “What do you want from me?” He nearly growled. I turned slowly. What did he mean what did I want from him. If I were smarter I’d be scared. I somehow just pissed of a very large man, who could kill far too easily, but instead it further fuiled my frustration.
“What the hell do you mean?” I nearly spat. It’s one thing to reject me, another to ma, nut to make me feel like an idiot is something else entirely. I could feel the anger swell in my chest and burn up to my head, clouding my previously melancholy emotions. Daryl didn’t stand down, his normally grim ‘I’m too badass to be alive’ Demeanor had shifted to something more stable, something more pissed off. He took a breath “I don’t know what to do” for the thousand time this week he took his eyes off me, and glued them to the floor. I have never been one to be able to hold in frustration long, really this week has been the longest I’ve ever composed myself. “It was all fine and then all of a sudden we were kissing and it just wouldn’t have ended well” He looked at me again “So I didn’t know what to do”
My chest was huffing “About what hm? You seen pretty content wit- “ Daryl jumped up and turned to the door, I fainted heard a mumble about “a mistake” and composure  went out the window. “What was a mistake was kissin’ your sorry ass” I was shouting now, and I couldn’t unclench my jaw even if I tried. “I’m sorry if I over stepped because I thought for some stupid stupid reason you liked me” pausing for a second to catch my breath and to see if he had anything to say. He didn’t. “You Ass” I exclaimed, throwing a cushion at him, that he caught. Stupid fuck. I knew I was irritating him, and I didn’t care. In that moment I wanted him to be just as pissed off and hurt as me.
“Nina, would you just shut up and listen? ” He put his hands up to try and calm me. “No!” I know I shrieked it because my throat stung right after. “I ain’t listening to shit you gotta say” Daryl began walking towards me and I backed away, trying to put as much space between us as possible. “You don’t get to treat me like crap, you don’t get to run away and ignore me because I fucked up” my voice cracked and he froze.
I turned my back to him for a second, trying to wipe the tears away fast enough for him not to see, but once that dam had broken I couldn’t stop it. My chest was heaving uncontrollably, from the crying or the anger I wasn’t sure. I felt him put a warm hand on my shoulder “You didn’t fuck up”
I turned to look at him, still trying to wipe away the endless stream of tears. He looked like he was desperately trying to spit something out “I fucked up, what I did wasn’t right” this horrible pause came over us, and it sucked the air right out of the room.
Daryl looked at me like he was trying to figure out what I was thinking, all I could do was look at him in disbelief. What could he have done that was so wrong? Me looking at him must have spooked him because he started trying to explain what he meant like he was chewing bad tobacco, like what he was saying made his mouth feel dirty “I took advantage of you, I should be here to help you and instead look what I did” He began pacing the room. I didn’t say anything, I couldn’t say anything. What the hell was this man on about ?
He looked at me with sad eyes “I’m too old for you Nina” I think I was in shock because the next thing I knew I was laughing.
Well not laughing, they noise you make when you’re so in shock that it’s the only breathless noise that will come out. I covered my eyes in disbelief before sitting down. When I glimpsed back up at him he looked mortified, like I just punched him in the gut, this only made me laugh harder. “Are you dumb Daryl Dixon?” I asked catching my breath. I just can’t believe him, I know he’s shy but this is just ridiculous. The human race is being eaten alive by the undead and he’s gotten all in a fluster because of a few years. “Is this why you’ve been avoiding me?” Daryl looked past me, trying to avoid eye contact
“We are in arma-fucking-geddon and you’re worried that I’m a few years younger than you?” I stood and strode towards him until we were nose to nose.
I should have thought it threw because suddenly being so close to him make me want to kiss him again, to feel that sort of fire and passion surround me. I opened my mouth to speak but Daryl cut me off by chuckling
“Arma-fucking-geddon” before engulfing me in a kiss.

warnings: Cussing, Zombie apocolypes, Not sure what else. Death Angst like a mf. Its kinda sad at the bottom part of it. Idk why I made it like that.
Fandom: The walking dead
Ships: Shane Walsh x reader
He was gone. We've been separated ever since this started and he's back. I was so happy, I truly was, but I was starting something with Shane. He helped fill in that gaping hole my husband had left. He was gone, It hurt for months, but Shane helped me through it.
‘ Andrea, T-dog, Jaqui, Merle, Glenn and _____ went out for supplies and got stuck.  They weren't sure if they were going to be able to get back, but here they are. But with more people then they left with.
A man in a sheriffs uniform stepped out of the truck. Rick, Y/n assumed as she seen Carl and Lori run towards him. She felt sad, some where deep down she really wished it was her husband.  Amy went to her sister hugging her tight. Feeling the weight of the world fall of her shoulders as soon as she seen her older sister.
She turned around, Shane right beside her, into Shanes arms she went. Seeking comfort by being held.
"I know, baby." Shane tried to comfort her.
She told him how she felt. She told him that she still loved her husband, and probably would always love her husband. But she knew she held feelings for Shane too. She felt like it was a hard thing to understand, but some how, some way, Shane understood.
At first she thought that Shane was just using her for sex, but he told her that he truly felt something for the woman. She was a little cautious at first, but slowly let down her built wall.
Even though they were "together" she still kept her wedding rings on. She felt like it was betraying her husband if she took it off so soon.
"I'm sorry." Y/n apologized trying to pull away but Shane kept her close. He shook his head rubbing comforting circles on her lower back.
"You don’t have to apologize. He was your husband. Y'all were together for years. And it's only been a few months. I understand you're still healing. It's okay." He whispered softly in her ear.
"Thank you." She whispered as she put her head in his shirt. He looked down at her confused.
"For what, sweet heart?" His southern accent making her heart flutter a little bit. "For being so understandin' and for not forcing me to do anything I don't want to do." She explained as she looked into his brown eyes.
"Y/n?" She heard a voice, followed by the truck door slamming shut. "Colby?"  She whispered as she turned around. Turning around she seen her husband of five years. He looked a little different: The same curly brown hair, but it was longer.
He had a bit of stubble on his sharp jaw line.  His white t-shirt, no longer white. But stained in crimson colored stains. She hoped and prayed didn't belong to him. His denim jeans were covered in blood stains and other stains.
"Oh my God, it really is you!" He exclaimed as he ran towards her. She met him in the middle running towards him.
"I can't believe this is real. I thought you were gone." She cried out as she started to shake from crying.
"It's real baby. I'm here." He whispered as he pulled her tight against him. "Oh, I've missed you so much." He mumbled against her forehead while he kissed it.
"I've missed you too." She hugged him tight, but something didn't feel right. It didn't feel like the same love she got when Shane hugged her. It didn't feel she was hugging the man she's been married to for five years. It just didn't. She forced the feeling down as she pulled back from the hug. Looking into his ocean blue eyes.
"Come on, and I'll try to find you some clean clothes. I'll wash them up tomorrow." She said with a smile.
He nodded right before he pulled her back into his arms. Moving his hands to cup her cheeks to kiss her. The kiss was passionate. As if he was trying to remember what she had tasted like. He groaned into the kiss as she pulled away.
"Colbs. There's kids around." She mumbled against his lips. He nodded as he pulled away.
"Probably shouldn't do that then." He agreed nodding his head as he spoke. His brown hair moving into his face as he nodded. Y/n smiled as she moved the hair, out of his face.
"You need a hair cut." She smirked as she put the piece of hair behind his ear. "Tell me about it, it's been 7 months."
Shane watched as Y/n spoke to her husband. He felt like she was cheating on him. But he knew she was the one that was married. That there always was that possibility that her husband was coming back. He felt as if he Should not have gotten so attached. He loved her. He could say deep down, he really loved her. He was in love with her.
Y/n turned around with her husbands hand in hers as she spoke to him. Shane decided to take it upon himself to introduce himself.
"Hey." Shane announced himself as he walked over to where Y/n was grabbing some clothes off the clothes line for Colby.
"Oh, Colby this is Shane. Shane this is Colby." Y/n introduced the two men together.
"Nice to meet you." Colby said shaking Shanes’ hand. Shane had a tight grip on Colbys hand. As if he was silently show dominance against the Younger man. Y/n was a bit younger than Shane. About three or four years, and Colby here looked about the same age.
"Shane here was the one to help me while you were missing. He made sure to keep me safe and to keep me company while I was alone. I'm very grateful to him." It sound like Y/n was trying to give Colby reasons why Shane was a good person. Shane assumed that it was just Y/n trying to get Colby to like him more.
"Thank you. I truly mean it. Thank you for keeping my wife safe." He emphasized the word wife, pulling Y/n closer to him by her waist. Shane smiled and nodded as he looked towards Y/n who seemed a little uncomfortable.
"It's no big deal. I gained something from it." He said as he looked to Y/n with a smile.
"Yeah? What's that?" Colby seemed to be challenging Shane as he questioned Shane.
"A friend. A real close friend. One of the closest I've ever had. She was someone I could rely on, and she knew she could rely on me." Shane explained as she squared his shoulders.
"Hey, y'all it's time to eat!" Amy said as she walked over to them. As soon as she came over there she could feel the tension between the three. Y/n just wanted to tell him and find out his reaction. But she also didn't want to tell him because she didn't know how he would take it.
"Okay, thank you. We'll be right there
. Thank you, Miss." Colby said looking at Amy with a nice sweet smile. She nodded as she started walking back to the RV.
Well, I'm sure you're starvin. Let's get you some grub." Y/n said looking to her right to her husband. "I should change first. I don't think they'd enjoy me sitting with them covered in blood." Colby explained.
Y/n nodded as she responded to him. Telling him he could change in her tent. Next to the wood line a couple yards from them. He nodded kissing her cheek. Giving a glance to Shane as he walked off to change in the tent. "We'll meet you up at the RV." Y/n told her husband. He nodded as he continued towards the
"He's real nice." Shane spoke sarcastically. Y/n nodded as they started walking towards the RV. "He is. He is just a little possessive at times." She explained looking down at the ground then towards Shane. Shane nodded as he kept his pace of walking to hers.
"Are you going to tell him about us?" Shane asked looking at her with hope, she would choose him over Colby.
"Yes, I planned on doing that soon. I don't like lying. I never have and I never will." She explained looking at Shane as she stopped walking to look at him. "Well, you know I don't like to share." He said with a joking tone. Even though she knew he wasn't joking.
"And what makes me yours, Mr. Walsh?" She teased him back. "I'd show you, but you have your boy back." Y/n rolled her Y/E/C eyes as she continued her walk to the table set up at the RV with supper set up.
"I'm glad to see everyones smiling faces." Dale spoke as he seen everyone smiling and talking among each other. Everyone smiled as they looked over at Dale. Y/n sat in the between Shane and her husband. Everyone around them could see the tension between Shane and Colby.
"How about a cheers." He suggested holding his cup of water up. "To being together as a family." He cheered as he held the plastic cup up in the air. Everyone copied saying 'to being together as a family.' then everyone taking sips of their drinks.
"So Colby, what did you do before all of this?" Rick asked looking across the table to the blue eyed man.
Colby looked up from his food to the sheriff and to the rest of the table who was staring at him. Each of them waiting for answers, except for Y/n.
"I uh, I was a doctor, in the hospital back home." He answered Ricks question a little hesitate for some odd reason.
"Oh? Where are you from?" Shane asked looking at the brown haired, blue eyed man.
"Central Virginia." Shane nodded as he looked at Y/n.  "Where are you from Y/n?" Rick questioned.
"I'm from (Where you are from)." Y/n answered with a soft smile.
"How did you meet Colby?" Sofia, Carols little girl asked.
"I was in visting some friends in virginia, and I was in the hospital.  Colby, here was my doctor. He nursed me back to health. When I told him I had to go back home he asked me to go on a date with him. Then it started from there." Y/n answered the 9 year-olds question.
After a while of talking Amy had gotten up to use the bathroom. Everyone was still eating, just listening to each other talk. When all of a sudden they heard a blood curdling scream.
Everyone jumped up as they got up running towards the scream. Amy had gotten bit. Y/n grabbed her long hunting knife from the holster on her hip as she ran over, stabbing the Walker in the temple.
"Is there any more?" Y/n asked as she looked around. All was quiet in the camp, until they saw movement in the woods. They saw a horde of walkers coming through.
Each of them grabbing guns and any weapons they could find. Killing as many walkers as they could.
Y/n held her knife close as she stabbed into the walkers forehead and temples as they got close to her. She was killing walkers when she had a bad feeling. (A bad feeling more than usual in this time of day).
Turning around she seen her husband fighting off a walker who had fallen on top of him. She ran over to him killing the undead. Colby pushed the walker off of him to the ground. Y/n helped him stand up while looking for any scratches or bite marks.
"Are you okay?" She asked pulling him into a tight hug. She could feel him shaking, he was shook. She could tell he was shaken up. He wrapped his arms around her, anchoring himself by holding onto her. She put her head in the crook of his neck, then she pulled back when she heard the gun fire stop.
"Is he bit?" Shane questions as he stalked over to Y/n and Colby. "No, I'm pretty sure I'm fine." Colby said while Y/n pulled away from his hug. But Colby kept a hand on her waist.
"What's that on your shoulder?" Shane asked as he notices a rip in his borrowed gray t-shirt.  "It must've ripped when I fell down." He blew the question off as he tried to change subjects.
"No, it doesn't look like it ripped from you falling. Let me take a look at it." Y/n said as she looked at the suspicious ripped shirt. He nodded in defeat and let Y/n move the shirt to see what was going on.
"Oh my God." She whispered as she noticed the bite mark on his left shoulder. "What? What is it?" Colby asked as he looked into her Y/E/C color eyes. "You- You've been bit." She stuttered out as tears were starting to fall down her Y/s/t (Your skink tone) face.
"Wha- what?" He gasped as he touched the wound with his hand. Touching it he winces. pulling his hand back he looks at his hand to see blood.
"Is there anything we can do?!" He stressed as he stood up quickly. "The only thing I know to do, is not something you want me to do." Shane said looking down at Y/n and then to Colby.
"We can't amputate you shoulder. You're gonna end up turnin." Y/n mumbled as she looked at her husband through tears.
"Help!" Y/n heared Andrea scream as she was sitting on the ground with her sister in her lap.
"Just go. There's no helping me." He said as he seen Y/n turned to look at Andrea holding her dying sister.
"I ain't leavin you! We've been apart for six fucking months. I'm not leaving you to just die alone." Y/n cried while her husband pulled her into a tight hug.
"I'll go over there." Shane mumbled as he left Y/n and Colby alone.
"It's okay." He softly whispered into her ear. "It's gonna be fine. You're going to get over this." He mumbled encouragingly.
"I can't do this without you." She cried as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Yes you can. You have Shane. I've seen the way you look at him. And the way he looks at you. You look at him  the same way you looked at me. He looks at you the same way I look at you." Colby started.
"You be with him." She looked into his ocean blue eyes through tears. He looked at her as he took his silver wedding band off. "When Y'all are ready." he whispered as he took the wedding back and placed it in her hands. "I know you love him. So don't hold back because of me. Continue living, if not for you, but for me." He said as he closed his hands over hers.
"I can't." She whispered as she looked over her shoulder to Shane who seemed to be looking at the two of them.
"Yes you can." He cut her off before she could protest. "Don't argue with me." He chuckled as he shook his head. "I love you so damn much." He whispered as he pulled her into another hug.
"I love you too." She started sobbing as reality was hitting her.
After a little while he started passing out. He was breaking out in a high fever and was sweating like a pig in the middle of a Georgia summer. He told Y/n to shoot him before he turns. He told her he didn't want to turn.
So Shane and Rick carried him over towards the woods away from everyone else. Giving Y/n and him some alone time. But Shane was never far. He was close enough he could hear them as they softly spoke to one another as if nothing had happened.
Y/n was leaning her head on Colbys good shoulder while they sat against a fallen tree trunk. Sitting against the log they spoke to each other. They were acting like everything was going to be okay. As if there was literally nothing going on in the world.
"Do you think I'll have a big future?" Y/n asked Colby as she played with his hand in hers. He chuckled as he wiped the sweat off of his forehead with his shirt.
"Honey, I'm sure you'll have the best future anyone can ask for in this shit show." He chuckled.
Slowly he started rasping for air, making Y/n start to freak out.
"baby?" She asked as she noticed him starting to go out. "Colby?" She whispered  while he slowly started closing his eyes then opened them back up. He coughed a little blood and sat his head back.
He chuckled as he looked at her. "Did you fake that?" She asked talking about his gasping for air. "Sorry, I had to prank you one last time." He said with a smile. She smiled as she shook her head.
"You'll have a great future ahead of you. You'll be with Shane. I know he'll take care of you. You have this group who will be your family. Then, I bet, eventually you all will have a nice little camp. With a big protective wall. You and Shane will probably have a few kids. You'll have your bad days and your close calls, but I promise you. Everything will be worth it in the end." He rambled as he slowly closed his eyes.
"i'm not even sure if Shane wants to have kids." She whispered as she put her head on his chest listening to his slowly beating heart and it started to get slower.
"Who wouldn't want to have kids with you? The most beautiful woman on this earth?" He questioned as he looked down at her. His once ocean blue eyes now blood shot as he slowly dies.
"You'll have a little girl running around y'alls home. She'll look just like her mama. Maybe a little boy. he might look like me." He joked as he started coughing up more blood.
"You'll have a happy family in the middle of this crappy life." He continued as he took a ragged breath.
He looked up into the clear blue sky as he started crying. She noticed him crying and asked, "whats wrong?"
He shook his head as his body shook in-between sobs.
"I'm scared of dying." he whispered looking into the blue sky he takes in the scene.
She started crying as she nodded. Whispering me too, under her breath. She felt as he gasped in for air for the final time. His eyes slowly falling shut as he took his final breath.
"I'm scared too." she whispered into his shirt. She looked up at him through blurry tears.
"Please don't leave me. You're my best friend. Please!" She cried as she shook him with her hands.
"Please. Don't leave me." She whispered as she looked down at him.
"Y/n." Shane said as he walked into the woods opening.
"He's gone." She said in a broken voice.
"He's gone and there ain't nothin' I can do." Her voice wasn't holding much emotion, but her Y/e/c eyes were showing all the brokenness inside her.
"He was my best friend." Y/n smiled as she looked down at her husband.
"I lied when I told them how I met him." Y/n spoke all of a sudden.  Shane sat beside her quietly to let her talk without forcing her to.
"I didn't think they would like to hear the story of how a really met him." She chuckled softly.
"How'd you meet him?" he asked as he put a comforting arm around her shoulders.
"I was at a party at a college. Some kids were serving drinks and I decided I was gonna get drunk and find a boy to fool around with." She started as she smiled at the memory.
"Well, I had gotten about three or four red solo cups of beer and had drank 'em. Then I had a mixed drink. I was pretty lit and I seen him. He was in the corner of the room with a few of his school buddies. I decided I was gonna walk over to him and try to "Seduce him."" She laughed as she remembered the memory.
"I told him he needed a drink and to stop pouting that he couldn't do that at a party. I told 'em I'd keep him company. Well after a whole bunch of talking and getting to know each other he offered to walk me to my dorm room. He did too.
The whole time he kept his hands off my body. He was respectful of me. Even though I was drunk and probably shouldn't have remembered half of the night since I was so drunk. He took care of me. I was a stranger and he made sure I was safe even though nobody knew where I was. MY friends had ditched me that night for some guys. And he was there for me." He nodded as he listen to her story of meeting Colby for the first time.
They sat in silents when Y/n made the first move.
"He told me he didn't want to turn." She said as she pulled her large bowy knife from her thigh holster.
"Do you want me to do it?" Shane asked as he grabbed the hand the knife was in.
"I should be the one to do it." She whispered as she looked at him with a smile. She leaned in to give him a passionate kiss. Then after a moment or two she pulled away. She took the knife and took a deep breath in. She pushed the knife into soft temples, tears falling down her face while she did it. Whispering apologize while she did it.
She pulled the knife out and wiped it on the grass, then put it back in the leather holster.
"Promise, You'll never leave me." She whispered as she went into Shanes strong protective arms.
"I promise."

Family Pt.3
A highly requested new part that I feel horrible that I haven't updated because well I don't really have an excuse I'm so sorry! Anyways here's part 3 Luke_Hemmings101 ENJOY!
"Somewhere... Ill be back later." he simply says and leaves you in your room all alone. You start to cry and you run to the front door when you hear him slam it shut and hear the roar of his motorcycle. You fling the door open and try to run to him and you yell his name but he can't hear you over the engine. He has Carl open the gate and he disappears into a cloud of dust. You stand there, barefoot, with tears streaming down your face.
*Time Skip to 3 hours later*
I was sitting in bed still worried about Daryl, He just left. Its been three hours! You where just about to go to the bathroom when the door flung open scaring the hell out of you. There stood a bloody Daryl who looks to had been crying. You flew up from the bed and ran to him. "Oh my god, Daryl are you okay!? What happened?!" You frantically asked moving his hair from his face  examining for cuts but you didn't see any. Where did all the blood come from? You where still in your own little world when Daryl took your small hands in his large rough ones. You looked at him. "I'm sorry I just left you like that, you know I'm not good at this, and now we are gonna be a family..." He slowed at the F word. You smiled softly as tear started to form. "I know, that's why I was scared to tell you... I'm not good at this either, but more importantly." you said looking more seriously up at him. He stared at you confused. "Where the hell did all this blood come from and why didn't anyone stop you when you came in!?" you asked.
He cocked his head to the side then his face changed to realization. "Oh uh I ran into a group of em. I dont know what came over me but I killed em all with my knife...." he trailed off walking to the bathroom across from your room with you on his trail. "Daryl, That's so dangerous..." you said sitting on the counter top next to where he stood looking at his reflection. He just grunts in agreement. You take another look over him. "You need to shower." You said and hopped off the counter and turned on the shower as he took off his vest and shirt. You grabbed a large towel and  made your way to where he was taking off his boots and socks. You put the towel on the rack and went to the closet to get the shampoo and soap. You placed it on the rack in the shower and watched him as he took his pants off. You quickly closed and locked the door. He just stared at you as you started to take your clothes off as well.
"What're you doin?" he asked as he stood in his underwear. "making sure you get the hard to reach places." you simply said taking your pants off and placing them on the toilet lid along with your shirt and bra. "Why?" he asked. "Because, now get in please." You asked taking off your underwear. He did the same and climbed into the shower, You following suit. He stood under the water and you grabbed the rag and the soap. You rubbed them together til it sudded up and you twirled your finger signaling him to turn so his back is to you. You started at his shoulders and gently over his back. You slid your fingers over his scars and kissed each one. He hummed in response to the tender touches. You washed the rest of his lower back and used your hands to turn him back around to face you. You started at his shoulders again and slowly made your way over his chest and tattoo. You looked up at hims when you felt him let out a low sigh. His eyes where closed and his lips slightly parted. You smiled to yourself. You began to lather shampoo in your hands as he sat on the little seat built into the shower.
You where facing each other as you started to lather his hair he gently put your hands in your hips. You washed his hair and he stood to rinse it. You where about to get out when he grabbed your hand and pulled you closer. "What're you doin?" you asked. "Your turn." Is all he said as he started to lather soap in another rag. You in turn stood in the water. He pulled you closer to him and turned you so that you back was to him. He ran his hands from your neck to your shoulders and arms. You put your head back a little, relaxing into his touch. He rubbed your back and sides. You hummed when he did your stomach from behind. You turned without him asking you to and looked up at him. "I love you (y/n)." he said looking down through his wet hair at you. "I love you too Daryl." You replied and kissed him softly. "I cant wait to meet our baby." He said running the tips of his fingers across your stomach giving you goosebumps. You smile and nod. "Me either, i hope he or she has your loyalty and bravery." You said taking his face in you hands. "I hope he or she has your brains and passion." Daryl says kissing your forehead and pulling you into a hug. You guys stayed that way until the water ran cold.

Chapter 12
Oh god.
The moment our lips met sparks shot down my spine, brining Goosebumps up on my arms.
Oh God I’m kissing Daryl
It was soft at first. A little awkward in the usual Dixon fashion, like he didn’t know where to put his hands. But the second I moved my hand to cup his face it was like a switch had flipped inside of him. His unsure, sweet movements changed into something rough, and animalistic … and I fucking loved it.
He gripped my waist and dragged me onto his lap so I was straddling him, and my arms instinctually wrapped around his neck, pulling the kiss in closer. I felt his hand travel up under my shirt and sliding his hand along my back, while his other hand gripped my hip, pushing my down further into him.
God this is making me feeling something different. Normally when I would get with a boy it was fine, it was nice, it … it did the job.
But this
This was different.
I felt like there was a balloon blowing in my chest, and any second now it was gonna pop, just in a good way. It made me want to jump off of him and run around dancing and at the same time grab Daryl and never let go. I get what the mean now when people say “it just felt right”.
Not to mention, the way he’s kissing down my neck right now it making me a lot wetter than it should, and making me gasp a lot louder then I should.
I balled my hands full of his hair, rocking my hips agents his. Both our movements continued at an animalistic pace until I pulled my shirt over my head, leaving me bare bested. Daryl gave me what I can only assume was a cheeky look for the Dixons before venturing down between my breasts. Once reach a sensitive spot in between my tits a moan- well more of a soft whimper- was pulled from my throat, and suddenly Daryl froze.
I looked down confused, his eyes were wide, and staring through my chest and his breaths were heavy and deep. Oh no. “Daryl?”
Daryl ignored me. He sat back, I tried to pull him up for another kiss, maybe this was just nerves. The breath was knocked out of me once he pushed me away onto my back, and him darting up walking away from me. I stared in shock. What the. Actual. Fuck?
He stood pinching his brow with his forefinger and thumb with his back to me. Holy shit what did I do? I tried calling him again to no avail. It felt like a rock was dropped in the pit of my stomach. I stood and tried to reach out and put a hand on my shoulder but he flinched back
“We shouldn’t have done that”
He still wouldn’t look at me. Dread shrunk my shoulders, selfish as it may be I just didn’t want that to end, I had kinda always hopped it would have eventually led to there, and now that I know it’s over is just
“What do you mean?” I tried to distract myself to the sickening feeling of rejection that was beginning to sink in. I grabbed my shirt from the corner on the room to try and cover myself, and when I turned to wait for his answer, he was gone.
What. The. Fuck
I didn’t sleep well that night, Cain’s feeding schedule was well into a full night of sleep, but every time I closed my eyes I could feel his arm on my back, pulling me closer. Oh God I’m so stupid.
He probably thought of me as some kind of segregate daughter or sister and I had been secretly (even to myself it seems) perving on him. I think I may have just ruined our relationship, or even a chance at a romantic one.  Sweet Jesus I’m asking for a little guidance here, this is just too embarrassing to talk to Maggie or Denise about. Denise would go mental and I’ve a snaking suspicion that Maggie would be extremely grossed out and never look at me the same.
Of course which I don’t blame her for, I did make out with a guy like more than twice my age. I just thought that maybe age didn’t really matter because, oh I dunno, It’s the end of the fucking world.
At that thought tossed around in the bed sheets in a huff. Suddenly I felt angry, what the fuck is wrong with him? Not to sound extremely up my own ass but I know I’m attractive, my identical fucking twin was Miss West-Virgina for fucks sake that must mean I’ve something going for me?! Even not I’ve a big rack (though during this day and age it isn’t exactly a blessing)
The sound of two pairs of heavy booths woke me from my (slightly woe filled and agitated) slumber. Thankfully I would have the house to myself for the day to ignore a certain person.

sorry this is kinda crap
Chapter 2
Aaron took me to his house, and as promised I got food for me and the baby, after that it was sort of all a blur. A short haired woman named Carol offered to take me and the baby in, she was looking after another baby called from time to time so she had most of the supplies and had a spare room. It was only after realized that crossbow was living with her too. He did not seem exited for me to be there, I could hear them arguing downstairs while I tried to nap, and he was cold, just being an ass for no reason. Well, I suppose butting into someone’s life was a reason. I felt bad, I was disrupting their life, and brought no real house skills except stabbing, mechanics and knitting. But Carol was kind, she cooked and looked after the boy I showered after she found out I was bringing him in with me. So far, she’s the only one I’ve let be with him without be being there. I think she’s used to quiet people, with Daryl in the house, and the Sheriff Rick, didn’t seem too chatty.
Apparently besides Aaron and Eric, I’ve only spoken to the other new comers, I suppose maybe it’s because we all have the same feral look, the others eyes are all lightly glazed over with the dumb assumption of safety and stability. I’ve decided I was going to stay a few more days, wanting the baby to fatten up, so when winter hits he’ll have enough body fat to stay warm. I’ve an “interview” with Aaron today, the usual woman who dose them just lost her son and her husband. I’m not sure what I expected, but walking out with the baby in arms, I felt dizzy with anger. Having to revisit everything, absolutely everything. I’d rather put them behind me and move on, danm this place for bringing it all back up. Just danm it all, I could hear my heartbeat, my body was going dumb with the rage. Can’t think about it now, really cant think about it now. I cannot have a blowout right now. Maybe a walk would make me want to break a window less.
I was mumbling to the baby, telling him about the sky and the walls, trying to stay hopeful for him, willing for him to live long enough to be able to talk back. I hold on to him, stopping at a field of grass by a wall, never wanting to let go, he was just so small, so small and this world is so big. Maybe I should stay, it could give him a better chance here, he could live but then there would be me. I would be a problem in this, I could snap at any minute, and who knows what I’ll do then. I awkwardly took my boots off, and felt the grass between my toes, this place couldn’t be as safe as it seems, there’s just no way. Maybe I could leave him and then maybe – “Hey, Nina right?” I snap my head behind me seeing a young boy with a big hat, also holding an infant.  “Yeah, uh, Hi” I offered him a smile, knowing it probably took a teenager guts to talk to a stranger “Sorry I don’t think I’ve met you yet, what’s your name?” He also smiled shyly, probably feeling extremely awkward, I would have too “yeah sorry I’m Carl, and this is Judith, we’re new too” ahh, my favourite people, he seemed sweet, harmless to this world “so, it seems like we’re both in the Way-too-young-to-be-holding-a-kid club, she your sister? Or did you just start early?” I joked, he went scarlet, he began to try and speak but nothing was coming out expect blubber, making me giggle ever more “I’m only joking, she’s your sister isn’t she?” He visibly sighed “Yeah, yeah she is, how did yo-” “Carol watches her so she has a lot of baby stuff at her house, she’s also the only other child in this town by the looks of it. “ Carl nodded, seeming satisfied with the explanation.
We were quiet for a second, I looked up at the wall, which was now casting a shade on us “it’s weird isn’t it, being inside” he said breaking the silence.  “yeah” I sighed “I don’t know how I feel about it, I’ve been on the run since I was 16” He hummed in agreement. “I was 11, it’s weird having your childhood filled with monsters, weirder seeing the kids here still being kids” We stayed silent for a moment, I’m sure he’s been through some shit, apparently they only got here about two months ago, must have been rough, no one survived out there without doing some fucked up shit. It was my turn to break the silence “I’m gonna put this guy down for a nap, if you need anything you can come to me okay? I’ll see you later okay” He smiled at me. Aw fuck why did I say that, I’m going to be leaving in a few weeks I shouldn’t be making roots.
