I could probably continue this forever but… god, I am so done with this. Emotionally. Digital project I started on last year that I happened to find on my ipad files a few weeks ago.

I remember when I started this, I kept thinking about how Dewshine is rarely drawn on her own without her lovemates or her tormentor, and so many forget that her primary weapon is bow and arrow. I also thing I have never seen her drawn with her wolffriend? So here she is hunting with Longshanks.

The first name poll has arrived, and it's Graystripe's lovely sister Dewpaw, as promised! Dewpaw is a silver spotted tabby with two differently colored eyes. She was mentored first by Patchpelt as a warrior apprentice, then by Spottedleaf as a healer apprentice, and lastly by Yellowfang when Spottedleaf died. She is one of Fireheart's friends and strongly supports him, even when he can be a bit dense.

Dewspots and Dewleaf are legacy names honoring Spottedleaf and her role in Dewpaw's life, while Dewflower will be a nod to her first solo patient, Goldenflower. The last two are names I picked that I thought fit her well, but I'm always open for others if they're popular enough!

DEWSHINE. based on a dark world taking place in my own bedroom.

Ive had this old novelty mountain dew candle for years, previously owned by my brother. its made to look like an actual glass of mountain dew, but i dont really ever intend on lighting it.

and im an autistic deltarune fan so of course i had an idea.

she's a disgusting greasy little gamer girl who LOVES games based on the games i played on my gamecube as a small child. always seems like she never feels like she had a purpose, and was content just living.

that is until, one day she met with a strange Man.

always rambling on about serving her true purpose, and being able to go to heaven afterwards.

but no one would end up listening to her, right? its such an insane request, no one would even consider helping her...

DEWSHINE THE UNSNUFFABLE has finally brought heaven to everyone, attaining her true FREEDOM as she slowly dies a fiery death, melting in front of your very eyes.

Faerie Masterpost

The Tunnel of Dewshine was, although his first introduction to Faerie archeticture, pretty beautiful and otherworldly. That Kit had to admit. There was a part of him that wanted to soak up every little detail, wish he had the same curious gaze as Ty. Because Faerie, was supposed to be his, right? The green walls that were illuminating a very warm yet eerie lighting, those were his. This was all part of his kingdom, the place he was about to enter for the very first time. Kit felt himself grow more anxious about it. Ty didn't looked that much better either, Kit could see from looking at him that he was tense. Honestly, Dru was the most relaxed. The stone path underneath their feet had been placed with care, in a similar manner as mundanes constructed their roads, but the stones themselves were clearly not of the mundane world either. It glittered like goldstone and of a green shade darker then the luminous walls. They were slightly slippery and Kit couldn't help but think that, considering the tunnel's name, the origin of the water being dew. Dru nearly slipped because of it as they turnt a corner, and she gave a small squeak that echoed through the tunnel. Kit carefully stepped closer to the two siblings. "Be careful." He whispered as he tried not to notice the way his heart raced when he and Ty made eye contact. He decided to walk in front of them, being a little more careful footed then they were. Two years of living in rainy England had taught Kit a lot about walking on wet stones. There was nothing but the sound of footsteps for a while, and Kit went back to studying the mysterious beauty of a world promised to him, the beautiful vines that had begun about a meter ago, indicating they were close to the entrance. Kit had never seen veins in such a shiny teal before, its leafs were bright blue like the crystal lakes of Finland, at least, according to this magazine he had read about Europe's nature once. Kit could see the light was especially vibrant at the corner before the turn, and as his head whipped around the corner, he could make out a forest in the distance. He made a gesture to Ty and Dru to wait. "We're there, aren't we?" Ty whispered softly as he approached Kit, who nodded back at him. Dru inhaled deeply, "Okay, what do we do next?" "I think I should summon Livvy before we enter Faerie, see what she has learnt. She should sense we're close." Ty said, thinking of his sister. "That's a good idea." Ty focused on Livvy and it only took a matter of seconds before he felt like the rope that was stretched out from his very soul was pulled back, and like a breath of air, his sister appeared before them. "Good timing, I just figured out why the pink goblin outright dares to smuggle Jaime food behind the queen's back." Livvy's voice was so strange in comparison to their own as hers did not echo in the slightest, another tiny reminder she was dead. Another was Dru, who could not see her at all and just looked at the spot Ty and Kit were gazing at. "Alright, what does the pink goblin want?" Ty asked in a hushed voiced. "Fame, it seems she aspires to become an actresss. Like, she's aware between the difference of TV and movies, so I bet she dreams of an opportunity in Hollywood." Ty and Kit both looked a little flabbergasted at that, because this was a first. However, it was something they could use to their advantage. "So if she wants to become a star in Hollywood, all we have to do is ask her to help us break Jaime out and in exchange we will take her back to the L.A Institute with us where she will be under witness protection." Dru frowned at those words and Livvy nodded. "Exactly." "Okay, we've got a plan, let's go. Livvy, please take us to the area her brother was located at. She must live nearby." Livvy hummed and guided them from the tunnel into the luscious forest of Faerie, where birds they never heard before chirped in the leaves, where fruit Kit only had seen on Shadow Markets, grew fresh from the trees.

Tyldak is a fascinating character, interesting to see how he’s still one of my favorites since I read this series first in high school. I think everyone around him is wrong about him because they’re like “Oh he chose to change his body so that he could have wings and fly!! How sad!! He used to be beautiful before then!!!” Like Nah guys if it weren’t for Winnowill he would be living his best life- which is on the other hand because it was her who shaped his wings with her magic and now she’s using it as leverage to manipulate him to do her bidding.

I think i’m also fascinated with anything that could possibly be even loosely interpreted as a trans allegory. It would be a stretch here for me if it weren’t for the joy he has out of having wings, and the reactions of the people around him, which are either indifferent or negative.

This page alone is fascinating to me because Dewshine is absolutely valid for wanting to mate Tyldak, and her resistance is completely understandable. Recognition as a concept in and of itself has so much to it, and there’s a lot that could be said of it, but in this situation alone it’s just Shitty all around. She hates Tyldak, but her recognition causes her to see him before he transformed, which she interprets as his soul, or his “true self.” I think personally I prefer to see it is her being able to see where he started versus where he ended up, but there’s more to it because I don’t think they realize they’re both looking down on the other- the mountain elves look down on the wolfriders because of their perceived savagery, and they specifically look down on tyldak because he is creatural to them now, which is seen as unnatural and frightening.

Basically nobody is in the right here and it sucks for everyone.

Add to that the fact they all look down on humans, even Tyldak. Of course this is where Tyldak sort of starts to change his mind (I think, I’m only up to issue 14 so far in my re-read) which makes it a little more difficult. No matter what, there is still a hierarchy perceived as a class war going on, which complicates matters quite a bit.

The sympathy leans more towards the wolfriders though because before they were on “good” terms with the mountain dwellers, they were prisoners to them. So the mountain dwellers are automatically in the wrong because they’re xenophobic toward their own kind and call themselves “high ones”, and Winnowill specifically is cranking the entire situation to her tune because she’s the worst.

For the Tyldak situation alone though, it’s almost impossible to be in the right at all, because no one has a choice and no matter what they’re looking down on each other. Make no mistake though- there is a power imbalance, which skews the situation no matter what.

Description for Tyleet/Scouter/Dewshine (Elfquest):

Scouter and Dewshine are lovemates (ranges from dating to FWB). After the tribe is captured, Dewshine recognizes (basically a soulmate thing, where they become tightly bound and learn eachothers soul names at a glance) with one of their captors, the two having a child but actively choosing to not have a relationship, as they are two different people. Dewshine instead chooses to become lifemates (marriage) with Scouter, and the two raise the child together.

Scouter and Tyleet recognize and have a child; Tyleet and Dewshine, being very close, they decide that they will all three become lifemates, raising the new kid together, and all three exchange soul names to represent the bond being permanent.

They're a very sweet, caring couple that are firmly protective of each other and their tribe.

Also, my general pitch for Elfquest since I'm pretty sure this is an honorable mention:

While these three are the most prominent, the comic is poly af, mostly in the open relationship dynamic, but they're not the only canon triad. Most of it is available online for free at https://elfquest.com/. It's a little dated at times, but it's still a fun read. Also, elves riding wolves, what's not to love.

Story:

Cherrykit wouldn't stop whining about being hungry, so Fernkit had an idea. She went to the apple tree in camp and gathered up a bunch of fallen green apples. She gave them to him to eat, which he did, but then he got really sick. Cherrykit didn't get better, half a moon later, Fernkit was at his vigil.

Ferntangle noticed a tortoiseshell crossing the LeafClan border, and she pounced. The tortoiseshell's head hit against a tree and it bent in a weird way, there was a sickly snap that echoed through the woods. Ferntangle ran.

Then, her first two litters starved. She claimed that it was Cherrykit getting his vengeance when really, it was her nor feeding them nearly enough. She hated all her other kits except for Ottertail, that didn't save him though.
