Never, never in the whole course of time did you want to witness Arthur in that state ever again. They laid him down on his cot, his body trembling as the horrible wound in his shoulder tore at your heart and your pain matched his own. 

Only when he was as comfortable as could be did you reach for him: slowly, carefully, your nails digging in the wet cloth with desperation. You cursed at your clumsy attempt to soothe his pain; the tips of your fingers could never be light enough when touching his burning forehead. They left the warmth of his skin, startled like a flock of birds, as soon as a pained wail broke out of his throat. 

His hair was dirty and sticky as you brushed it away from his feverish skin, his pupils pacing madly behind his closed lids. How you wished you could take it all away. Yet, all you could do at the moment was stay by his side; and that you did.

They found you the next morning, your smaller hand encased in Arthur’s bigger one (as if you were the one that needed protection) and your head resting on his cot beside his own as you both gave way to the softness of sleep. 

Knowing that getting you to leave his side was out of the question.

this one is relatively new, there are only 4 chapters so far, but i have really been enjoying Taijitu's Rats Like Us. vik x mage!reader, takes place after jinx blows up the council, reader is a shimmer addict and also hella traumatized so read with caution. also! i really love this fic's approach to magic. it's absolutely wonderful and just the right mix of sciencey and fantasy its so GOOD.

i am currently working through Convergence by Dicax_Asina (who i think is also on tumblr @dicax-asina) and so far it is very good! reader is a doctor and a smart cookie and spits truth to Jayce n Vik and i love her for that. also there is a lot of SCIENCE!!!!!! of the medical variety

1. Do you make your bed? Always. uNLESS I sleep through my alarm.  2. What’s your favorite number? No number holds a distinct significance to me.  3. What’s your job? I work in a library as a teen reference assistant. Not the most exciting job in the world, but I like my co-workers, the pay is good, and there’s very little stress so I’m not complaining.  4. If you could, would you go back to school? yes, I would like to. But school is expensive and I don’t know what I want to study anymore because depression knocked all sense of purpose out of me😅 5. Can you parallel park? BARELY 6. A job you had which would surprise people? In school I had a second job as an in-class assistant for students with disabilities. I mostly worked with a blind woman in GED classes, reading her tests and homework and transcribing her answers. It was very enlightening because we had a visual and language barrier and I had to redirect and figure out new ways to explain English since it was her 4th language. But I also really wanted to help her. She was from Iran and was arranged to marry at 16, then went blind after having children. She had burn scars on her arm. It was very fulfilling to help her complete her education in a way that would improve her life as well.  7. Do you think aliens are real? Why not? 8. Can you drive a manual car? Haven’t learned yet. I don’t have a stick shift I can practice with.  9. What’s your guilty pleasure? I’m a TOTAL sap for romance. Movies, books, fanfiction. I guess escapism is my guilty pleasure 😂 10. Tattoos? Negative. I have nothing against them, they’re just not for me.  11. Favorite color? Purple 12. Things people do that drive you crazy? Author Name: Here on tumblr its muse-of-nightmares, whereas on ao3 my handle is anonymous_huxely. 

Fandoms You Write For: At the moment, RDR2. I didn’t start writing fanfiction until I was 17, but in the past I wrote for Star Wars *deep sigh* and I had a few uncompleted wips for Detroit: Become Human *even deeper sigh*.  I haven’t really gotten into any new gaming fandoms because I’m depressed af and have little interest to do things I used to enjoy my PS4 is nearly out of storage as well as my gaming pc and laptop😪  

Where You Post: On ao3 and on tumblr. I was considering doing wattpad at one point but I just...I don’t like the way it looks. 

Most Popular One-Shot: I would say Do Not Touch the Artwork is my most popular work in regards to feedback. I was humbled by all of the praises everyone left me about my writing style and prose, and I was surprised that people are still reading arthur/reader fics. Despite its name, the rdr fandom is not dead. I appreciate everyone who took the time to read that ♡.   

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: Look at me. Look at my crippling self doubt and tell me if you think I have enough confidence and motivation to write a long fic😂. I hope I get there someday, I think it would really improve my writing skills. 

Favorite Story You Wrote: Its an original story I wrote for a class that I hope to rewrite and flesh out completely some day. The setting was rich and the characters had good conflicts, I just had a word count that restricted its full potential harshly. I also am quite fond of a nonfiction essay I wrote because it won first prize in a writing contest. Writing about my life is far easier than writing about imaginary ones... 

A Story You Were Nervous to Post: I’m nervous to post any of my writing to be honest. I can never tell if it is any good after working on something for a long time. 

How Do You Choose Your Titles: Coming up with a title is one of my favorite parts during the process of writing a piece. Once my idea is grounded, I think about what the most important take-away is, what I want to echo, what the heart of the piece is. I make up my titles based off what I think encapsulates everything in the work and I always want something with a creative ring to it that people will remember. 

Do You Outline: Yes, I like to outline. Its not strictly necessary for me, though, and it depends on the length of the project. Listing things in order makes me more likely to accomplish something if I break it down, that way I can see the blanks I need to fill in. 

Complete: Only one-shots. I like to think I’m a quality-over-quantity kind of writer 💅 lol. Writing was really hard to get done while I was in school and had 2 part-time jobs. Since I graduated, there’s been much less stress so I’m hoping I’m more active in writing this summer and reconnect with my passion for storytelling.

In-Progress: I got a couple requests to write a part 2 for Do Not Touch the Artwork so I am working on that right now. 

Coming Soon: I have some ideas for a long fic that I am more interested in writing for the sake of myself. If I get into any new fandoms I’m sure I will write for those! No promises though. I might drop off the face of the Earth and never write again. You never know🤷. 

Do You Accept Prompts: Go for it just fuck me up fam. There are no guarantees I will fill a prompt though. I find requests are good ways to stretch your fingers and you can be pleasantly surprised with how they turn out!

Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: The long fic I mentioned :) Not 100% sure if it will happen but I always need to have something on the back burner! Ideas are in no short supply around here.

You Haven’t Done This Tag Before, I Promise.

I was tagged by @a-shakespearean-in-paris to do the 11 Questions Tag! Sorry this took me awhile, I didn’t mean for this to get so long, although to be fair you brought up a mythology question so you kind of asked for this.

Rules: Answer 11 questions, make up your own 11 questions, and then tag 11 people to answer those. 

1. Favorite supernatural creature?

I had to visit some weird ass websites to find an extensive list of these. I’m gonna have to go with the phoenix. I had a lot of beautiful illustrated storybooks of the tale of the firebird when I was growing up. 

2. Favorite Folktale/myth?

*does the birdman hand rub* Mythology is my shit. It’s so rich in culture and ripe with inspiring story ideas. I could talk about it all day, but what I can really talk about is the curse of the Koh-i-Noor diamond.

Mysterious in origin and Ancient Persian for “mountain of light”, it’s one of the largest diamonds in the world and its journey throughout history is full of misfortune and violence.

There is a story in Vedas of the Syamantaka jewel, a gift from the Hindu sun-god Surya to his most devout follower, King Satrājit, as a blessing to his kingdom. It was a divine jewel, said to have magical powers and possessing a luminous glow, for it came from the heart of a fallen star.

Surya warned Satrājit that while the jewel would produce 170 pounds of gold a day(around 3 million USD) and ward off famine and disease, he wasn’t to keep the jewel and all of its wealth and prosperity for himself. It would only reverse the effects and bring him bad luck if he did not share it. He did not heed this advice. Satrājit fashioned the diamond into a necklace and one day, his brother stole it for himself when the King refused to share. While Prasena was hunting and stalking his prey of a lion from a tree, a snake fell from the branch above and  Prasena fell. The chain caught him on the branch and strangled him to death, and the lion saw the gleam of the jewel and was ensorcelled. The lion brought the jewel back to his den, only for the King of the Bears to battle him for the stone. Its hard to pinpoint where the Syamantaka jewel enters historical record and becomes known as the Koh-i-Noor but from then on, it gets passed down throughout the Mughal Empire. Shah Jahan sets it in the Peacock Throne and is later imprisoned by his sons and usurped, and then the Persians invade and steal it. The Persian invader Nadir Shah is assassinated later in his life, and from there on the diamond falls through many hands and brings misfortune to all who keep it. What I find most interesting is how in the Vedas it is written “He who owns the Diamond will own the world, but will also know all its misfortunes. Only God, or a woman, can wear it with impunity."

The Koh-i-Noor is currently part of the British Crown Jewels and rests in the Queen Mother’s Crown. Isn’t it interesting how only the Queen of England can wear it? Because all the men who possess it get some serious bad luck??? I’m sorry, didn’t mean to turn into a nerd but I think it’s cool. 

3. Favorite thing to wear?

On the opposite end of the spectrum of my sweatpants and lunar phase knee socks, in the summertime I love wearing long skirts with a shawl draped around my shoulders. 

4. What’s a piece of media (book, movie, game, etc.) that has had the greatest impact on you as a person?

Patricia A. McKillip’s books made me fall in love with the fantasy genre and hold a special place in my heart. Her stories kindled my love of reading and storytelling in the beginning. I first picked them up because her covers are gorgeously illustrated by Kinuko Y. Craft and they’re so detailed that every time I look at them I see something I never noticed before. 

5. Favorite thing about yourself? Physical and Non physical.

Ehhh. You know, I think I’m very plain-looking. I suppose I like my eyes because they have some of green in them. Non-physically, I like my investigative personality.

7. What does your dream apartment/house look like?

Encompassed by bookshelves so tall I need a rolling ladder, filled with encyclopedias, spider plants, corals and crystals and terrariums. Turkish lanterns hang down from the ceiling and Audubon prints of cormorants decorate the wall, as well as an old map pinned with all the places I want to travel. An enormous Persian rug covers the wood floor and is strewn with lounging pillows.  A low coffee table rests in the center and holds a platter of fuzzy peaches and vase stuffed with white peacock feathers. The latticed windows are open to a mountain view, and the silvery notes of trickling wind-chimes drift inside with the breeze. A porcelain cup of tea steams in my sweater-paw hands as I sit on the sill and watch the sun rise. Trumpet vines swallow the balcony and offer their nectar to the hummingbirds. And all the while a black cat purrs beside me with its eyes closed. Yeah. 

8. What are your thoughts on marriage?

Well, that fantasy involves a person who doesn’t exist in my life...but I would like to get married someday. I’m just not that person yet and I’m far from it. 

9. Describe what makes a good ship to you.

Conflict, dichotomy, and dualism. One person falls in love way before the other. Changing their natures, Person A thinking Person B is too good for them when their good for each other. Enemies to lovers on opposites sides of a war. 

10. What does home feel like to you?

Home is the warmth of my bed at night, listening to the train horns in the distance and watching the familiar shadows of trees on my walls. Its a place with a crab-apple tree and a swing. A rose garden. 

The truest moments when I feel it is when I listen to my sister practice piano, when I lick the icing off my birthday candles after blowing them out, when I put my favorite ornaments on the christmas tree. Its having dirty feet and watermelon juice drip down my hand in the summertime, and having a lot of blankets and cats and tea in the winter. Home is my siblings and memories of good times. 

Home feels like a place that’s part of who I am and is safe to be.

11. Your favorite thing to eat?

I can’t tell you how happy häagen-dazs green tea ice cream makes me. Also, wood-fired pizza. OOf and aloo gobi masala curry hits the spot, too.

Okay so I almost cried yesterday bc I was tired af and I wanted to just lay in bed all day, but I managed to get through the day and get better. Other than that, I can’t remember the last time I actually cried. Doesn’t happen often to me.

Writing, reading, taking walks by the sea and in the woods, video games.

I have two water turtles, but I’d love to have a bunny in the future.

Me and sports are two parallel worlds that will never collide, though I used to play tennis a few years ago.

165 cm (too lazy to convert it)

I loved English (especially the literature) and Philosophy. 

15. Dream job?

I’d love to translate video games or magazines like Nat Geo Graphic or Focus, though I have this impossible dream of becoming a writer (so many obstacles ughwuc).

I am in fact NOT cowboy burnt out, just spending all my time right now reworking some parts of the outline because I found I no longer vibe with the whimsy and decided I need more angst sprinkled in there LMAO. But I am in fact VERY in the cowboy headspace and I literally opened tumblr after I opened spotify and found I didnt want to listen to anything in my playlist so this is PERFECT timing.
