AU where Leo is trapped in the Prison Dimension for months instead of minutes and the only way he gets by with his sanity intact is through recording himself talking to his wrist comm.

When they finally manage to get Leo back and make him rest up to heal, Donnie can’t help but listen to the recordings left behind.

He’s not sure what exactly he’s expecting, only that his subconscious is screaming at him that it has to be heartbreaking, that it has to be torturous.

Instead, what Donnie is subject to is a full thousand hours’ worth of Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu crossover fanfiction. More than one part in the series. Spanning well over a million words.

(The worst part is that it’s actually good.)

Self Diagnosis Talk.

What I find absolutely crazy is how I found out I was autistic.

It literally was Donatello from ROTTMNT…. 💀

So after I heard that Donnie was autistic coded I was like oh that’s pretty neat, and since I liked ROTTMNT so much ( It was my special interest but I didn’t know that for a while ) I wanted to make headcanons of it like I do with every show I obsess over.

I started searching up autistic traits so I could associate that with Donnie and stuff.

But in the middle of watching a really good and informative autistic person explain some traits that autistic people have that not many know of-

I was like….. Hold up.

Why do I relate to these?

At first i just thought, “Well some allistic ( I didn’t know what that was at first but I’m saying that ) people go through that, just not as much as autistic folks. So there’s no way I could have autism.”

But then I keep searching up and looking into more neurodivergent stuff, and I keep relating to the things that are said to be signs/traits of autism.

So then I got skeptical.

To make this rant shorter, I f**ked around and and found out I had autism. 👍🏽

And this was during the winter/winter break/Christmas/probably November ig.

I can’t tell anyone though because the people I’m close to are ableist. I found that out the hard way.

And now I’m here sharing it with the world. Some of the world.

Shout out to Donatello Hamato from Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Turtles for making me come to such an awesome realization that really makes me make sense of why I do the things I do.

You know what would actually be cute?

Any fellow autistic will know what I mean:

Getting in your favourite spot with all your favourite belongings nested around you. Lots of pillows, plushies & blankets. Comfortable lights. Noise-cancelling headphones with music. Some beverage (tea, coffee, water). A same food.

And you are ready to stay this way for the whole day.

THIS IS AUTISTIC NESTING & it provides comfort & safety.

This study has a 0-5 point scale to rate how good autistic mice are at non-marternal nesting. Spoiler: they get the score 1.

Score 1 means: mouse has created a primitive nest, mostly flat & contains almost the whole flat paper tissue

In contrast: Score 4: mouse has successfully created a complex hooded nest, including walls that create a ceiling and a single opening as the entrance.

Silly lil HC's of mine

Some of y'all might not know, but tigers are actually so muscular that people have reported on multiple occasions that they've remained standing upright post-mortem. (I don't support poaching in anyway but this is still a SUPER interesting fact)

Now, what does this have to do with ninja turtles you might ask?

The thought has been infesting my brain that two of the turtles would be strong enough to actually hold their position in doomed timelines.

I've seen people do it with Raph before, which makes sense as he's both the biggest and most obviously strongest in the show. It feels naturally fitting for him to meet his end still protecting his family with everything he has! And I love it!

But

You know which other brother is likely strong enough for that?

DONNIE

Leo has more technical strength, fighting by outsmarting his enemies and redirecting their attacks against them more then make that many actual strikes.

Mikey, while proven to be able to thrown massive amounts of weight, it was never without the help of his chains. That combined with the fact that he has a much more momentum based fighting style where nearly all the work is done by the weapon controlled through technique rather than strength means he's not it either!

Besides Raph, Donnie is the only one who fights with his own raw power. I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw it but someone once mentioned that Donnie using the bō staff, a weapon that requires full body control was fitting as struggles with motor control come with the good ole tism (hope that was how to phrase that). He has one of the few weapons that would require him to be fairly muscular to use effectively, consistently!

This fact combined with them being literal supersoilders, which c'mon has gotta mean endurance for days (cough cough Shredder fight), mean that he would not only be able to hold his position, but potentially for days if need be! Though it would 100% be very uncomfy alive ofc

So it's my whole hearted belief that if this boy was in a situation in which his arms were holding him or someone he cared about away from danger, he would be the last to give.

Donatello HCs part 7: Interactions with others- Raph

POSSIBLE RISE!MOVIE SPOILERS

I do NOT see these two interact nearly enough. But that moment Raph saves Donnie and Mikey from falling while explicitly stating his intentions, that this is "not a hug, it's a rescue"? I love it so much

Raph has to actively not freak out when Donnie does hug him

Raph tries so hard to understand Donnie’s tech but him dumb ass

Even so, he listens to Donnie talk about his projects and steps in to help whenever he can, especially with repetitive or easy steps (ie heavy lifting, making different parts, etc.)

Guys he's trying his best. Donnie is usually pretty touch averse, especially when he's stressed or focused, but Raph shows affection through physical contact.

He instead puts that energy into helping with physically strenuous or difficult parts of Donnie's projects

Donnie loves deep pressure (when calm and safe) and Raph is more than happy to absolutely crush him

It took both parties a while to understand each other and the way they percieved touch. It was even a point of tension for a while before Mikey noticed and forced them to talk about it with each other

One of my favorite HCs is that Donnie and Raph "hand hug" as a sort of middle ground. I'd like to think Mikey came up with the idea. Both saw it as stupid at first, but it grew on them after some time. Everyone in the lair adopted it after a while, but it's definitely Donnie and Raph's thing.

What's your favorite headcannon for Rise of the TMNT?

Ooooh okay this is tricky.

I'd probably have to say that for Donnie, moving lights/colors are a stim for him. In my experience, especially bright colors are super cool to look at. They can be overstimulating very easily, but they're still enjoyable in certain doses.

I would think that he really likes neon lights, color changing LEDs and such. Building off that, I think purple is almost a comfort color for him. It grounds him because it is familiar and now entertwined with his identity.
