saw a tag game where you post the filenames of everything in your WIP folder and then people can send you asks with the title(s) that most intrigue them and you post a little snippet, and i Want To Participate but i wasn't tagged and i don't feel like tagging anyone (and you're supposed to tag as many other fic authors as you have WIPs??? club penguin rambles

there are a LOT of images bc the post is abt cp outfits. but also a ton of text bc i talk way too much. also I POSTED THIS ON THE WRONG ACC. I POSTED IT ON MY THEME TESTING BLOG BY ACCIDENT SO I HAD TO REPOST THIS. its the 11pm brain fog getting to me

okay so club penguin released a new clothing catalogue for november and here's my hippie fall outfit i came up with. it's designed around the sweater bc i thought the sweater was super cute but there wasn't any other hand item except guitar that really matched with the outfit. and like yes i could have it without the guitar (which i did do to take the 2nd pic) but i wanna equip a hand item!!! which sounds really stupid bc it is stupid but i'm picky and idc. the sweater IS adorable tho like look at it, its got little puffles on it and shit!!!! fucking adorable!!! and the colour is so pretty and nice too :3c i would buy that sweater if it existed irl. also look at the cool ass ghost puffle!!! their name is goober LMAO i dont rmb why i named them that. i think i was thinking like goofy goober but i already have an orange puffle named goofy ah so i guess thats why i just named this ghost puffle goober? genuinely i have no fucking clue. but i'm gonna keep them around cuz they look dope as fuck and also they match my penguins purple skin colour which i think is neat.

other outfits

since i am making a post abt cp outfits i also decided to add my previous outfits (that i have screenshots of) to this post too just to archive them so i can come back in 10 yrs and be like wow 16 yr old me had horrible fashion taste. (i hope tumblr is still around in 10 yrs. i mean, its lasted 15 yrs, so like whats another 10 right?)

for context:

the first one is one of my earliest outfits which i made with help & advice from moose bc i suck at fashion (thank u moose). i think it looks cool, tho there wasnt like a theme or anything that i was going for. i just liked the hair + jacket and wanted to make an outfit with it lol

the pizza one is from the pizza party event. do not ask me why they had a pizza party event. i have no idea. anyway it was really stupid but fun and i suck at the pizzatron 3000 minigame. i wanted to use a mouse for it but my mom took my mouse when she took my gaming pc so i had to use mac trackpad to play and boy it was Not good. also i gave my puffle jellybean a sombrero which i know is mexican and pizzas are from italy but i didnt know what else to give him!!! plus he looks really stupid cuz the sombrero is massive which i think is cute. oh yea, also i met rookie during the pizza party and i wanted to equip his background but my penguin covers half of rookies body and it didnt look good so i ended up going for this bg instead. its kinda lame but whatever, i still got to meet rookie and thats all that matters <3 (btw, for context, theres lots of npc mascots in the game and every so often they "come online" (its just a bot walking around really) and if u join the same area as them, u get a stamp + bg gift. i met rookie & jetpack guy during the pizza party and got their stamps and gifts but i love rookie more lol, hence why i wanted to use his bg. its too sad it didnt fit nicely bc i think its a p cool bg but oh well)

the bottom two are just variations of each other. basically for the sept or oct catalogue (i forgot which), the cp team added a bunch of punk stuff and i bought all of it bc it actually looked dope as hell. the one on the left came first but i didnt rlly vibe w the hair which is why i ended up changing it. also, the wings are a neck item which is why the first outfit doesn't have the dog tags even tho i wanted them. couldn't have both ): anyway, the second one came about after i got to meet cadence during the music party and i LOVE cadence (i had a massive crush on her when i was younger. like literally shes so pretty?!!) so i got rid of the raven wings so u can see her face in the bg. i can't lie i do think the bg is a bit lame bc its completely empty on the right which makes it feel kinda unbalanced, also u can see i have the cadence signature pin equipped. u can't change the positioning of the pin which sucks bc i would've put it on the right if i could but oh well. and yea i added the dog tags since no more wings. i accidentally clicked jellybean before taking this pic so it sent him home LMAOOO and i couldnt be bothered to get him back at the time so thats why hes missing from the pic. overall i think this outfit is def my favourite, the vibes are just so good. i love punk. oh and also the vampire teeth are bc the catalogue was mainly a halloween theme and well, they looked cool lol

for the record, jellybean is my favourite puffle hence why hes in all these pics. idk why but i just love white puffles, theyre so adorable and smiley despite being shy. also white puffles are slightly smaller than all other puffles which makes them 10x cuter. but i'm gonna keep goober around for a while just cuz they look cool as fuck. but i'll prob switch over back to jellybean when its closer to xmas. anyway its now 1120pm (i spent like half an hour writing this) so im going to sleep. goodnight

you seem like the kinda person who knows this sorta thing - what effect does charisma have for an NPC in the fallout games? i know how str and agi could change things, and how int can at least affect energy weapons (maybe??) but what skills could an npc use that connect to cha?

I think its an empty stat for npcs gameplay wise. I wish it wasnt, itd be cool if high charisma characters made you more damage resistant (the pc having high charisma in fnv makes your companions more damage resistant) or something. Also i dont think npcs are good with energy weapons unless its a tagged skill, so i think intelligence might also be a empty stat.

Otherwise its just a character/storytelling element tbh. I think thats why bethesda companions stats are so wacky, theyre less there for the character storytelling and more for combat.

heyyy, hope you’re having a good night!! if you have the energy and feel okay answering, what’s up w taz graduation? i haven’t checked it out yet but i was thinking ab it. just asking bc you’re the first person i saw talk ab the show having serious issues, but also feel free to not answer this!! hope you have a good week!

i took a nice hot bath, had a strawberry kiwi capri-sun, and did a nice face mask and i’m feeling pretty good - so, y’know what anon? let’s talk about it.

for anyone who likes taz grad who sees this post: it’ll be tagged with “taz grad hate” (although i feel hate is definitely a very strong word - it’s for the simplicity of tagging it) - so please block the tag if you don’t want to see this post (especially because i put a readmore on a post before and it didn’t show up on mobile and instead gave the full post). mobile tumblr has a tag blocking system, so please feel free to use it! i don’t mind haha

anyway, so this is... probably going to be a lost post, and i wanna go ahead and preface it: this absolutely isn’t any hate on the mcelroys themselves. i love the brothers and their dad a lot, and while i doubt any of them would ever see this (or have it sent to them, or shown to them, because im pretty sure they try to distance themselves from this sort of thing), i just want to make it clear that criticizing a product is different than bashing a person. which brings me to the point of if i do end up sounding as if im bashing someone - please call me out on it! it’s not my intention to target anyone.

with that said, let’s talk about this campaign.

so my problems are as thus: the railroading, the shipping (a fandom problem, but it’s present in the podcast), the NPCs, and some misc problems others have addressed better than i have.

which. i know. that’s basically the entire podcast. (i promise i’ll bring up some positive points to balance it all out). keep in mind i’ve only personally listened to... what, six episodes? and it was enough for me to drop it. some people dropped it first ep, some dropped it ep four, and others are still forcing themselves to listen.

the railroading

there was a time i could handle travis and his railroading [making sure the story goes exactly the way he has planned], because it was the very beginning of the podcast and that’s what you can kind of expect from a plot-heavy podcast. hell, i wouldn’t mind it if the interactions and goofs weren’t a huge part of why i listen to TAZ in particular (which, by the way, is why amnesty still stuck out to me - even if there was a direction griffin wanted to push them towards, the interactions between the players (or players and npcs) made up for any railroading). it’s kind of hard to not railroad a little when it’s story-heavy and you’re trying to built up a world that you’ve put a lot of thought into. however, a huge part of d&d is the spontaneity.

it’s kind of why i think balance was so popular. while there was railroading towards the end, there was the presence of improv that made it all good. most mcelroy content is enjoyed because of the goofs. the magic brian moment is memorable. the jenkin’s fight still stands out because it was funny (albeit a result of some bad rolls). the boys teasing angus sticks out because the four would play well off of each other. even without that - griffin had talked about how he had to roll with things (the fact he had planned for a fight atop the train, but ditched the idea for what his family members came up with instead). even in amnesty, a couple moments that stick out to me still are ned with the jetpack taking out a pizza hut sign, and the scene with the water where jake was trapped inside. they aren’t as fun, but they still stand out as “things i didnt expect to really end the way they did.”

with grad, it’s just. one after another. the thundermen want to subpoena a xorn? cool, let’s run with that until actually the xorn gets fed rocks and goes home and who cares about the subpoena now. fitzroy wants to keep his cloak? lets talk about it for a while and you also get no rolls to even try to keep it. fitzroy goes to meet higglemas in his office? oh, why are you here fitzroy? im going to keep asking you until you answer fitzroy? you arent getting out of this scene until you answer me, fitzroy, so just tell me why you’re here already, alright, fitzroy?

and even later in a episode i read a transcript of: hey argo, remember how you have this whole secret motivation? fuck you, im gonna talk about it here in your dream and reveal it to listeners and remove any tension you had building up, and you dont get a choice to talk about it because this all-knowing villain knows all about it :)

and even NOW in the latest episode, there’s a comment that “we should cap argo’s skills here” instead of just... making the checks higher. rogues are good at certain things and usually arent the best in battles. better hope argo never makes it to level 11, because who knows how people are gonna handle the fact that he gets a skill that’ll make it so certain skills can’t have a roll below 10 (reliable talent).

(griffin, thankfully, calls travis out for that, but still - travis, why would you even imply that, considering you should be aware of how rogues work considering magnus multiclassed into rogue and you played one on tiny heist?)

and in the newest episode, their Big Bad chaos (which, god, i personally hate that name) straight-out says “dont do this” to the thundermen. travis tries to say, on twitter, “a character saying “dont do this” is different than me saying it” but i need to point out that it’s one thing if you’ve said “no” in character but worked with the PCs doing otherwise, but the railroading says differently.

the shipping

ill try to make this quick, because it’s nothing to do with the fandom (ship however you want, man) - but i really feel the need to draw attention to this.

fitzroy, as confirmed by griffin in a ttazz episode, is asexual. not aroace, but ace nonetheless. and i find it... troublesome that the idea of rainer and fitzroy having a relationship is still pushed nonetheless, despite the fact that fitzroy (to my knowledge) was never once shown to reciprocate any feelings. not to be that person, but i really hope that grad doesnt have any sort of romantic relationships in it (at least - not between NPCs and PCs unless they’re actually like... warranted?).

i dont know, man. one of my closest friends is ace, and i know she wants a relationship, but i think it would reassure her a lot to see an ace character who isn’t pushed into one in case she ever changes her mind. someone once mentioned that they hope fi/tz/ra/in doesnt happen because theres relationships that have that “oh, you can just date” and it goes upwards there to “oh, you can have sex just to please them <3″ (which, to be honest, is kind of a gross mindset - if someone isnt interested, they arent interested).

also, uh, the TTAZZ where griffin states this, there’s kind of the mention tht the whole sexuality question was posed in relation to the episode “creative thinking” (the dream one i mentioned earlier) - which. uh. i don’t know if anyone caught this, but... rainer straight-up wrote fitzroy a letter in the dream like “are you going to accept my proposal? a girl doesn’t like to be left waiting” which. leaves me with some gross feelings because uh.

if... if the whole thing about fitzroys sexual orientation was addressed here, then why would you push your ship anyway? feels kinda iffy, man.

to which i want to say: fitzroy can date. he’s allowed to date. griffins allowed to do whatever he wants with his character. but when a lot of the flirting is met with nothing, i’m not gonna see the chemistry there. just because travis ships it doesn’t mean it’s canon.

the npcs

ah yes. lets talk about the npcs.

there’s... a lot. a lot a lot. i think travis trimmed down how many were present in a scene, but uh. there’s still a lot. and... uh... i kinda wish there wasn’t?

look, i know im going back to balance/amnesty, but just. hang in there for a moment. chill with me. vibe.

balance didnt have too many NPCs present at all times in each mini-arc. gerblins had some big names like barry, klarg, gundren, killian, yeemick, and magic brian. rockport limited had angus, jess, graham the juicy wizard jenkins, and all of the tom bodetts mentioned.

amnestys first arc had mama, barclay, jake, dani, pigeon, kirby, minerva, and that was about it for like. big names? and not all of them were present in each scene.

in the first episode of grad alone: gary, hernandez, jimson, rolandus, zana, rhodes, buckminster eden, rainer, leon, tomas, hieronymous, higglemas, stuart, jackle, bartholomeus, mulligan, groundsy, germaine/victoria/rattles (the skeleton crew). and those are the ones i wrote down (minus groundsy, who i just. ignores. idk him).

like holy shit, my english prof got onto me for having too many characters in my first chapter and i didnt even have half the amount listed there!

it’s just a huge cast. does this take place in a school? yes! theres bound to be a lot of students present - but you don’t have to name every single one of them, at least not in the first episode!

the miscellaneous

i don’t know if travis ever actually addressed it, but wheelchair users have actually like... said that rainer’s introduction bothered them, because she was like “please ask me abt my wheelchair :)” when travis saying she was in an ornate chair would have sufficed.

uh. the colonization vibes people have discussed within the centaur arc. mentioned here, the replies here, and this post (and its replies) here as well.

the overall lack of d&d when the campaign was kind of advertised as a return to d&d if i remember correctly

also no one seems to be taking literally any criticism at all which like. ignoring the petty shit, sure, but people have stopped donating to taz and their listener-ship must have dropped some during this entire time - you’d think that maybe someone could say “we need to find out why people dont like the thing and fix the thing” consider this is. yknow. their livelihood.

anyway uhhh

tl;dr: travis railroads way too much (even now), the shipping in-game has become pushy and gross (especially bc its shoving a relationship onto an asexual character), theres too many npcs that dont stand out well enough, and no ones taking any criticism about the major issues with grad.

HOLY SHIT

My DnD game just got REAL

Party was fighting a big scary thing, TLDR, a rival that died to gather incredible power.

So, they do VERY well, but then the second form of the enemy shows, and pure chaos reigns

And the female human summoner get tagged with a horrible effect, and is FUCKERED.

And some power offers to protect, and even empower her, if she gives something in return. I was expecting like, an eyeball, or something.

She cut off her right hand. SHES A SPELLCASTER SHE NEEDS THAT.

No hesitation, just feeds her right hand to this horrible thing she doesn’t even know the name of, for the sake of power, and now, I GOTTA do it justice so I describe her hacking her own freakin hand off with this puny dagger, letting out roars of anger/rage/pain/hate.

Wewlad.

And then, same kinda crazy attack gets aimed at an PC.

Backstory; the PC has an NPC (former PC who dropped) who is his brother, beloved and bosom friend.

Said NPC is ALSO in a relationship with another PC.

They have a weird power I gave them due to random shit, that lets them switch places once per week. Normally it’s played for laughs, if at all.

And as I’m describing this horrible attack coming down to his the PC, I quietly swap the PC and NPC locations.

The player literally sounded like he was going to cry, I could FEEL the pain he had, and the player who’s PC who was in a relationship was just...horrified and quiet.

“No. I don’t want this.” and I describe the attack and how it totally fuckers the NPC.

The party eventually defeats the enemy, but now they’re missing one hand, and they are also dealing with a apparently permanently injured NPC, via a horrible curse.

The PC who is in a relationship got hit with something like a lesserversion fo the curse, and the cleric of the party is excising the effected tissue, but loverboy misses his willpower save and so he’s just in AGONY, loudly, and the NPC holds the cleric at bowpoint telling him to stop.

They calm him down and he asks to get help being moved away, and there’s this solemn silence as the cleric excises the effected tissue, and a large bit of the PC’s collarbone.

Ugh my FUCKING HEART. I FEEL SO BAD BUT THEY DID SO WELL. I’M PROUD OF THEM FOR BEING SO AWESOME.

AND THE BEST PART IS, THEY STILL HAVE A WAR TO STOP. THEY DONT GET TO REST. THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH ALL THIS WHILE ALSO TRYING TO PREVENT A POINTLESS WAR.

AUGH. MY SOUL. MY HEART. BUT ALSO, HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT.

(what summoner girl doesn’t know is she fed her hand to her summon. Her sommon is an aspect of a very powerful being, she doesn’t know. she thinks it’s Asmodeus, but he dropped a BIG hint that it isn’t. Also NPC is gonna be infirm and maybe gonna die, and it’s gonna be REALLY SAD IM GONNA CRY)

BRUTAL BY FAR... it spawns so often and u can get ur allies to distract the summons and just 1v1 it w a paralysis charm

fight wise? probably gauche and droite bc they’re fun or estelle bc she’s really easy to practice combos on! character wise its schwann bc ill admit it i simp for raven

again probably gauche and droite, and outside of bosses it’d be the wrath nails in the labyrinth of memories! if u take flynn and just use dazzling glare on them two or three times you get a fatal strike and its fun to make a 300000 hp total battle go down to like. 6 hits

besides the first gattuso def the cameos in the tag team battle... how many times have i gotten barbatos almost dead before he gets healed and my healers get sealed... then stressing about the time left for the party battle im sick of it im SICK

raven’s wink in crisis rain it’d be wolf fury if not for the rare time i can get seifer with summon friends

this isn't meant to be mean at all, but from what I've read from "the other side" of this argument no one wants people who love molly and enjoy making content for him to stop. the majority enjoy it! it's just the constant crediting of personal character moments that would in no way involve molly to him that is the issue. that's all I've seen, so I don't understand why everyone got so upset so quickly and started saying that these people were gatekeeping. They're not.

Hey! Its ok. I'm gonna explain my point of view!

I understand the annoyed people, even though he's not the only character that has this issue. I do think that "recognizing how important is X for X character + adding something about molly" is not bad. If people want to keep talking about molly, you can't stop them. If i was in their place, i would talk about having a special tag for those post perhaps? A lot of people don't want to see it. But a lot of people do! I would try to find a middle ground, to get something more than just drama and judgment.

I don't think that going into the tag to take those "hot takes" is necessary: most of the people that do this don't go into the tag (is fucking weird i know, cad's -the other one that i check- is mostly empty as well, but thats another issue) so what do you get? The few people that check the tag having to deal with those posts.

Now, thats the main issue. If you use the words that you used in the ask, thats great! You are expressing that side and being respectful. Thats not something that i see of those posts.

# "obsession": people are loving this word. People making some posts sometimes in their free time for a character that they like is not an "obsession". Even then, if you call this an "obsession", you're missing the point of "hey, its ok to still love molly but don't do this".

# "unhealthy": honestly i'm still surprised that....people say this. People are calling this an "unhealthy obsession" like. I think that they need to calm down a bit. Me, thinking about molly and talking about him, even if it is to introduce him again in canon, its not an "unhealthy obsession". I'm having fun! And it's something that happens in every fandom. This is...bad and i dont think that i have to even explain why.

# "denial/not coping with grief": honestly at this point it only gets worse and why are people throwing words like this around so easily as if its a serious issue its ALL FAKE fjdjbr bad takes alert.

# "disrespect to the cast": like....what? no. That was a attempt to make people feel guilty with 0 proof. Those people think that its disrespect to the cast, as if me not having X character as favorite or even really caring about their storyline is DISRESPECTFUL. No, its personal taste. I'm not gonna shit on them or their story, but if i don't find it interesting....thats just how it is.

# "erasing of lgbt+ characters": that was a bad one especially if ur cis. If you are like "thinking that molly is the only representation that u got is bad" guess what? he WAS the only rep that i had. he was trans. mixing lgb and the T on this issue is bad, and trying to make people feel guilty for caring more about a trans PC with more than 20 episodes (of 3/4 hours) of content instead of a trans NPCs that sometimes are. There. For a bit. Every 40 episodes. Its bad. Especially knowing that a lot of molly fans are trans themselves. Even if you want to comment about it, you have to think about it with more attention than saying this nonsense. Esp if ur cis.

They started with the behavior of molly stans. But their issue, at least with the people that i've talked to/read, seem to be more deep than that: they bring up matt being critized for mollys death (something that i never mentioned), canon molly vs fanon molly (thats another talk), and just overall the frustration that comes from not understanding why people still talk about molly. Why is that a problem for them? Wasnt the "bad behavior" the main issue? Why are they upset about people loving molly and needing an explanation if they dont have a problem with it? And when u read a lot of them saying things like "well i never liked molly" or something like "yea i was sad when he died but i was ok w it the next day idk was wrong with them" and just being like "omg molly fans are crazy so scary thank u for saying all of that ur SO brave" its just all bad. That whole side, with a few exceptions like you, gives me bad vibes and reminds me why i dont fully enter fandoms. Most of them MAYBE recognize why one or two of those things are bad but theyre probably not gonna apologize for using them.

they act more like best friends than anything and i dont like them as a ship. i dont like the power imbalences between beau, who has seen and been through so much and knows so much more about the world, and jester who is, essentially, a naive child. beau has fucked 2 pcs AND that one npc in game and jester had her “first kiss” so to speak with fjord underwater. i dont like that imbalance :-) so i block the tag bc im tired of seeing. also it’s beauyasha *gunshots* or nothing

BUT I DO AGREE WITH U! Granted, i havent finished the episode yet; and also granted that frankly i dont rlly think to compare ta z and tm a in many senses, given the fact that theyre absolutely apples and oranges. YKNOW HOW IT IS: big old horror-mystery audio drama, verses family comedy-improv podcast. but ...

in terms of, like? the common thing they had in: i.e, two of the things i was very hyped up for today? one of them did not just live up to, but exceeded my already very high expectations; whereas the other kinda levelled with my lower, kinda “eh” expectations (which i was hoping it wouldn’t, but).

like you’re right it’s way too early to say anythingg and im STILL keeping myself in the game, ready to be happily surprised with some big old ta z love again. BUT. h. i think the episode kinda just has me a little deflated and i couldnt rlly get into it. partly because... whilst amn esty had an issue of forcing the PCs to be dedicated to the story 100% of the time, giving them not much freedom or direction to chill out, gradu ation didnt really... set them off with any purpose? which, for the beginning of a campaign is a bit of an anticlimax yknow. like i kinda wish they had some sort of quest or something to do as soon as they starterd. again, granted i havent finished the ep (i didnt... get that far at all, frankly) but that was in part bc of that issue itself.

second of all: i think one of my other bigger fears is growing larger. that being, im worried trav is has, like, made too many NPCs and it’s gonna suffer the same way amnesty did in that sense

and third of all: i just cant take the names trav is using theyre not funny at all theyre just weird and make me think of a harry potter 2012 youtube parody animation short isd that bad si that a bad thing to say like its been bugging me so much like i wish he’d either went with something serious, or went with an actually funny joke other than just keysmashes with vowels added in for coherence i
