The O'Jays are an American R&B group from Canton, Ohio, formed in 1958 and originally consisting of Eddie Levert, Walter Lee Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey, and Bill Isles.[3][4] The O'Jays made their first chart appearance with the minor hit "Lonely Drifter" in 1963, but reached their greatest level of success once Gamble & Huff, a team of producers and songwriters, signed them to their Philadelphia International label in 1972. With Gamble & Huff, the O'Jays (now a trio after the departure of Isles and Massey) emerged at the forefront of Philadelphia soul with "Back Stabbers" (1972), and topped the US Billboard Hot 100 the following year with "Love Train". Several other US R&B hits followed, and the O'Jays were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2013.

Había iniciado mal con las novelas contemporáneas este año, por fortuna este libro me ha devuelto la esperanza en este tipo de genero.

'The secret lives of church ladys' contiene relatos intensos sobre la cotidianidad de la clase media baja afroamericana, teniendo todas en común religiosidad, familias disfuncionales y cosillas cuestionables, y estos fueron los que más me gustaron:

-Dear sister: 😅☺️

-Peach cobbler: 😢💔

-Snowfall: 🥹💞

-How to make love to a physicist: 🥰💓

-Jael: 😰🙀

-When Eddie Levert comes: 🥺😞

La forma en que la autora escribe y se expresa es sublime, íntimo y super-envolvente, el drama, la familiaridad, la sensualidad, la representación, el amor, la tensión, el dolor, te hace sentir mucho en cada situación, especialmente en sus relatos más extensos.

Y la variedad, tanto en el estilo como en las temáticas, me encantaron porque fue como si el libro jugara con mi percepción pero de buena manera.

Espero que lo lleguen a traducir al español, porque los relatos están buenísimos, lo recomiendo mucho 👌.

Mooi nieuws voor de Markkade in ’t Zoet en Schorsmolen uit Breda: de ontwerpteams van deze gebieden hebben een prijs gewonnen in de Europese ontwerpwedstrijd Europan. Ontwerpteams uit heel Europa konden zich bij de Europan voor één of meerdere locaties inschrijven, waaronder dus twee gebieden in Breda. In de LocHal in Tilburg werden dinsdag 16 januari de winnaars bekend gemaakt. Informatie over de twee Bredase projecten en het oordeel van de jury is te vinden op http://www.europan.nl/ De afgelopen twee jaar heeft Breda samen met Tilburg, Waalwijk en Etten-Leur deelgenomen aan de Europan ontwerpprijsvraag. Europan is een samenwerkingsverband van zo’n twintig Europese landen. Europan organiseert elke twee jaar een ideeënprijsvraag op het gebied van architectuur, stedenbouw en landschap die openstaat voor alle jonge ontwerpers (tot 40 jaar). Hiermee levert Europan een bijdrage aan talentontwikkeling en de reflectie op en het debat over de Europese stad. Gastregio De Stedelijke Regio Breda-Tilburg (SRBT) is in Nederland gastregio voor de 17de editie van Europan. Het is de langstlopende en meest omvangrijke ontwerpwedstrijd in Europa voor jonge ontwerpers zoals architecten, landschapsarchitecten en stedenbouwers. Klimaatverandering Dit jaar stond de ontwerpwedstrijd in het teken van de klimaatverandering en de bedreiging hiervan op onze stedelijke omgeving. Een jury met specialisten op het gebied van architectuur, landschap en stedenbouw beoordeelde de inzendingen. Internationaal perspectief voor Breda “Deze wedstrijd daagt jong Europees talent uit om aan onze stedelijke ontwikkelingsopgaven te werken”, aldus wethouder Eddie Förster (Stedelijke Ontwikkeling). “We zoeken bewust dit internationale en jonge perspectief van ontwerpers op. En ik kan zeggen, hun voorstellen voor onze opgaven zijn creatief, soms gewaagd en tonen lef en ambitie.” Er zijn in de SRBT-regio zes locaties geselecteerd die een voorbeeld zijn voor de verstedelijkingsopgaven in de regio. De deelnemende locaties zijn: ’t Zoet en Schorsmolen in Breda, het winkelcentrum in Etten-Leur, Groenewoud en het Kenniskwartier in Tilburg en de Taxandriaweg in Waalwijk. Vervolg De winnaars van de wedstrijd ontvangen een geldbedrag. Na de prijsuitreiking starten er gesprekken met de winnaars maar ook met andere inzenders om te onderzoeken of en hoe hun ideeën tot uitvoering kunnen komen. Ook worden de resultaten van de Europan prijsvraag in samenwerking met het Bredase architectuurplatform BLASt met een breder publiek gedeeld.
