Living in Germany had always been tough for you. Although Jadon had been living there for several years, the two of you had met in London when he had gone home to visit family. You tried long distance for a bit before you decided that you were going to make the move to live with him abroad. Except you had completely underestimated just how difficult the move was going to be.

You loved Germany, it was a beautiful country and the people were friendly however, it didn’t stop you from missing home, your family and being able to speak your first language all the time.

Home sickness had been hitting you hard lately. You had Jadon beside you, embarking on his own journey but you felt like he had fit in better than you had. A year on and you still didn’t have any real friends in Germany. Not ones you could rely on all the time like you could with your friends back home.

When Jadon came home from training that night, the two of you decided to watch whatever football match was currently on the TV. Normally, you would be quite talkative and chat about the referee’s decisions and whether they were right or wrong but not tonight. Your mind was elsewhere and Jadon had noticed.

“You okay?” He asked from beside you, his arm wrapped around your shoulder as you buried your face into his chest. He was the closest thing to home that you had.

“Just a bit homesick.” You admitted and you heard Jadon sigh. You had had the same conversation several times that week already and you wished that you could say that he was understanding but he was far from it. You hoped that it was just down to stress but every time the topic was brought up, his reaction was the same.

“But Germany is your home.” He, although annoyed that he was having the same conversation with you, tried his best to comfort you. It was his duty as a boyfriend after all.

“I live here but it’s not home, Jadon. I don’t fit in here.” 

That was the final straw for Jadon. It wasn’t that he didn’t try to understand, because he did, he just couldn’t understand how he was with you and you wanted something more, something that he couldn’t provide.

Without saying anything, he got up from his position on the couch and stormed off to your shared bedroom, slamming the door behind him.

You felt the tears start to prick at your eyes, your face becoming hot and the lump in your throat getting harder and harder to swallow.

You knew that home sickness wasn’t forever and at some point, you would consider Germany your home instead of the UK but for the time being, you really just needed some support from Jadon. Unfortunately, you weren’t getting it.

About an hour after he stormed away, you heard Jadon enter the living room once again and you quickly used the sleeve of your hoody to wipe away any remaining tears that were left on your face. You hoped that your eyes weren’t too red or puffy but you weren’t quite so lucky because he noticed.

“Have you been crying?” He asked as he stood in front of you, a solemn look on his face. He had spent the last hour thinking quietly to himself and the guilt had been eating him alive. He had been a shitty boyfriend, he knew that but some part of him was insecure. He almost felt like home to you should be wherever he was but he was acting childish. You needed him to be there for him and that was exactly what he was going to do.

You didn’t answer him, already knowing that it was obvious so he stepped forward and sat on the floor beside you before pulling you into his chest and comforting you.

You still had to get used to the idea of Germany but home to you is wherever Jadon is.

Hi all, i just wanted to check in on everyone. I haven’t posted on this blog in a hot minute. Spurs haven’t been doing so well this season, I haven’t watched a match in ages. 2-3 months probably. I just don’t feel the joy watching the boys that i used to feel. with that said, no i’m not abandoning the spuds. I still support them but I have since gained a larger love for football in general, and found some other teams to support as well (i have some liverpool & other teams content already on this blog as it is). With all that is going on in the world, i miss football like i never have before. I miss the good times, the better times. We all need to stick together in times like this. Please stay safe & stay inside. I will be returning fully back to posting on this blog in the next few days. I am fully at home now as my classes are online so expect to hear from me again soon!
