arriving as John to Horseshoe Overlook feels like
such a pretty house and such a pretty garden
no alarms and no suprises
because those times, when we left the cold mountains full of hope of lying hope, of getting drunk in Valentine, of just living, getting to know everyone, hunting and picking up herbs.

With the amount of smug bullshit ult Dirk spouts in the Epilogues it can be easy to either forget or not notice when he says something completely stupid, so a lot of people end up misinterpreting him as this serious know-it-all dude with a plan who is simply doing what must be done for the sake of the timeline and his friends rather than voyeurist fudanshi manchild throwing a tantrum in the admin panel who is rightfully panicking about the state of their timeline and existence but is making the worst decisions possible to fix it due to the numerous psychological impairments brought on by his recent splinter-merging

chapter 21 of the strawberries are dying, my byler 1930s au, is now up!
It’d been a week since Mike had given Will the so-called “antiserum”—and yet, they still hadn’t really talked.
Dr. Briggs had been absolutely dumbfounded when he’d come to examine Will—only to find that he was awake, and, while still giving rather limited verbal responses, going to be okay. Will had been just as surprised, of course, but hadn’t said anything for fear of the doctor poking and prodding at him even further. Ultimately, though, this proved Mike’s original thought process that Will was almost completely certain he’d had at some point, because he was dramatic: He would’ve died, had Mike not snuck into his room with some mysterious liquid in a bag and injected it into Will (rather sloppily, mind you, but he’d gotten the job done.) He should’ve died, but he didn’t. He was lucky to be breathing so clearly like he had been for the past few days.

Last night I had a dream that I was married to this giant demon guy and I was having his baby and b/c of the size we had to have an emergency C-section
Except most of the dream was actually focused on the aftermath, in which I was completely fine, our son was completely fine, and my giant demon husband was desperately trying to get me some takeout b/c I mentioned being 'kinda hungry' and he felt super bad about it

I think that the main thing that was off with the epilogue's villains (dirk and jane) is that their actions/arcs line up with more that of other character's then themselves.
I was thinking earlier, about how odd it is that out of all the alpha kids to be chosen to oppose and control the troll species' reproduction, they chose the girl who would let others step on her until the point where she could not continue, and the same girl who spent a large chunk of her life worshipping and getting pseudo-mind-controlled (the tiara) by the condescension.
I mean, certainly, there were other, more viable options for a villain. A lot of the characters don't really make sense as being bigoted against the trolls, but there are a few for whom it would really make sense. Especially Roxy and Dirk, who had to live in the wreckage of HIC's destruction. They spent the first sixteen years of their life in a wasteland that was caused by her. Wouldn't that breed more resentment? Wouldn't that breed any resentment?
And if the choice came between Roxy and Dirk as to who would control people and go behind their backs for what they thought would help, it's a no-brainer as to who would do that. But they couldn't have Dirk as both villains, that would be stale. And that would be a fine argument, unless we count the fact that all of Ultimate Dirk's actions are not in character for him, but instead for Vriska.
Ultimate Dirk is doing everything he does in a quest for relevance. He shows a blatant disregard for others' emotions, and manipulates them all without the slightest sliver of regret but still aiming to help them. But he doesn't need to do any of this. No one is in danger. They're all happy.
Vriska strives for relevance. That was the entire point of post-retcon meteor Vriska and (Vriska), to show that even though she would do anything for it, she's happiest without relevance and when she's with people she cares about. She never learns this lesson fully, but it's suggested. And if anyone was to show a blatant disregard for others, it would be Vriska.
Yech. I wish the Epilogues were better. Anyways this particular tidbit of information means nothing but I thought it was interesting.
