Just found out about Erica Lindbeck being harassed off social media. And for what you may ask? For saying that she didn't want her voice used by AI. For those who aren't in the loop there was an AI cover made with Futaba's voice, a character Erica voices in Persona. Erica asked the video to be taken down because she never gave her consent to her voice being cloned. And granted it was taken down but what followed was her being harassed by AI bros to the point where she deactivated her twitter and instagram.
I will say to all the people critiquing it, I get that it’s a sudden shift BUT these two stories are happening at the same time. They most likely will have effects on each other bc of the characters relationships with each other.
What if opal DOES succumb to the spider Queen or she dies?? Or any of the other crown keepers die?
Orym and Dorian will have lost 2 (or more!)of their closest allies within DAYS of each other. Thats gonna make some real juicy story points.
And if Dorian dies. Juicy juicy juicy.
I get it it’s change, change is hard. But I’m so giddy about this.
I think these stories are so intertwined that it makes COMPLETE SENSE for us to go see what the crown keepers are doing. Of COURSE.
Persona 5 Futaba Sakura and FFVII Remake Jessie Rasberry's voice actress Erica Lindbeck deleted her Twitter because she keeps getting harassed because she called out publicly...

Someone who made a YouTube video of Futaba singing a Bo Burnham's Welcome To The Internet cover song using AI of her voice...
Even though she and other voice actors have expressed since last year that AI can misrepresent/smear someone and voicing in character without permission from license holder can land them in legal trouble (as shown by Hoyoverse warning Alejandro Saab to take down his Cyno/Tighnari shipping music video) not to mention the danger it poses to their profession...
Which... the original uploader now have already took down their video, at her request but...
Multiple people then uploaded it in their YouTube channels (despite the original uploader also asking them to take it down) as a revenge for her....

"Running a harassment campaign against the original uploader when she could've settled privately"
...and also comparing AI voice to game mods (which is technically illegal unless allowed) and vocaloid (which is officially paid, licensed and have their own quality control) or fan made vocaloid (which again, like all fan works, technically a copyright violation, just tolerated depending on the copyright owners)

Update:
Robbie Daymon (Goro Akechi) and Erica Harlacher (Ann Takamaki) are pissed (ofc)
The comment saying "you're next, Harlacher"
Sena Bryer of Atlas Talent plans to sick the company they work for on AI users if they ever do this to her voice since it will affect the company negatively too, see if they like that
But Erin Fitzgerald (wakaba ishiiki) is now scared to allow fans to record her voice at cons
Her fans gracefully understand if she refuses to record at con
Kaitlyn Robrock (Fire Emblem Engage) was sent AI clip of her voice saying things she wouldn't
"Your Favourite Gaming Actors Want You To Stop AI Generating Their Voices"
"Yuri Lowenthal, Roger Clark, and more speak out against AI stealing their voice and image."
Excerpt from the article:
...It isn’t just voice work either. Roger Clark, who portrayed Arthur Morgan through performance capture and voice work in both Red Dead Redemption games, says some studios are already trying to “amass a massive library of motion and performance capture data”, all without the actor's knowledge.
“Many gaming actors have already had to deal with and address having their facial data and mo-cap footage used in perpetuity by gaming studios, even for another game at a much later date,” Clark tells me. “Consumers deserve better than some Frankenstein’d performance.”
Clark doesn’t approve of AI work generated by fans either. “Purposefully misrepresenting another person’s work without their permission to suit your own wants or preferences is highly unethical,” he says. “It is at best defamatory and at worse theft.”
When it comes to DND liveplay, I'd much rather watch someone who maybe doesn't know all the rules, but can act/improv their ass off, than someone who's memorized the entire PHB. Erica last night is a prime example. She's very talented. Also that flashback scene of her and Opal was EVERYTHING!
Ok so apparently I’m hearing that Erica Lindbeck terminated her Twitter account because someone just…victim-blamed her all just for speaking out against using her voice in AI?!?
And also she spoke politely to the original uploader to take it down and they did but somehow it got reuploaded and some people just assumed she’s running a harassment campaign?!
