I adore how Tatsuya Endo writes his characters, especially the women. They can be warm, soft, cute, cool, tough, scary... all, if not most, of his ladies in Spy x Family are equally wonderful in their own way, both in character design and personality.

I love Malcolm Hawke's first dialogue in Legacy (the one you get if you unbind the shade kept trapped by two seals in a little cell). clearly this whole business was the darkest shittiest time of his life and he's selling his soul and betraying every single one of his principles and everything, but he sounds so endearingly... snippy and exasperated about the wardens using demons willy nilly. the "listen I know I'm up to some shady stuff here and everything but let it not be said I was untidy. I'm fixing your shit as far as I'm able here. you will not be able to pin this one on me. these demons were here before I arrived, this is on the record now" energy. the way he's taking time out of his day to be responsible and enforce mage OSHA regulations in the middle of maybe the most hilariously irresponsible thing anyone's ever done after the magisters tried to break into the golden city. exquisite. the real Hawke family curse is having to specify that actually not all of the catastrophe was your fault okay this is at least like... 30% not on me this time. I. I tried. everything was on fire and I had a children's toy bucket and a bottle of rum on hand

your sokka is SO sokka and i say this as someone who holds him so dear ur writing of him is amazing. tbh im sooo fussy with his portrayal but its pretty nailed. like so many fics (esp zukka and zuko centric and ESPECIALLY ones where hakoda like adopts zuko) he's constantly pushed to the side in favour of zukos issues and zukos problems when in reality sokka is very hurt himself and has suffered a lot. man i GET taob sokka i really do bc people seem to think he was a lil mean but nobody seems to realise when you're in sokkas position it would've read like everyone was against you. all the swt men, including his dad who snapped at him, and even katara and aang and suki tell him to give zuko a chance and the fact that they were trusting someone who had hurt all of them so much- because yes WE know zuko wouldn't have killed them, but the gaang didn't. not when they were being chased and terrorised, and when sokka had his trust betrayed in the prison, he had absolutely every right to hate zuko, esp when it felt like everyone who he thought would understand his feelings, including his own dad who had been hiding his relationship with zuko from him, seems against him. his conversation with hakoda was probably my favourite scene in taob just bc he was allowed to feel like that without being treated by the narrative as someone just being mean to poor little zuko. he gets to be a sourpuss and angry and jealous at zuko for feeling like hed been replaced by his own dad. all of the water tribe men get this treatment like they're not written as bad people for being wary or disliking zuko initially (even chena despite being enemy no.1 at the start). his convo with hakoda was so important bc it stressed the detail that yes zuko has suffered and deserves to be cared for but SOKKA is his son, his actual child who is so hard on himself for things out of his control and who has hurt so much and deserves just as much as zuko does. sokka is just a baby my boy. he's not the main character but he's just as complex and intricate as zuko, not just in taob but also for the times we have seen him in tams there's been keen detail to his emotion and how he's feeling pointed out

Hey, remember like 10 years ago when many of us were in our teens and twenties? Remember how there were all those news articles making fun of “millennials and their avocado toast,” that they didn’t know certain skills that had stopped being taught in school, that they were ruining the economy by killing various industries?
Remember how we rightfully said that was bullshit and we would be the generation to end it, that we would be nice to the generation after us?
I’ve seen a couple posts shitting on gen alpha kids. Don’t do that. Remember that they’ve already been through climate disasters, political unrest, and a global pandemic in their young lives. Talk to them. If they’re being rude, it’s probably because they’re struggling, not because they’re evil. Treat them as we wanted to be treated when we were their age. Children are people.

the thing about each pjo book is that each of them is uniquely the best in what it sets out to do. each is so monumental in what the story ends up amounting to, picking a favorite is almost like pointless. you could not have all 5 work so well if one was missing

With praise for this film going around, I would highly recommend folks watch Nimona. However I would also recommend you take a look at Does the Dog Die or similar information if you are in a place to be triggered by certain themes. I know that’s frustratingly vague but I also want to avoid spoilers (more specifics in the tags). Also happy if folks wanted to message me for more specific info. Enjoy and stay safe <3

Moth Flight's vision could have looked at Acorn Fur and said, "You have a shared trauma. Both of you have lost the same person, you a mentor, you a mate, to a senseless tragedy. And no one will take you seriously. Neither of you are fully trained because everything is brand new. How will you navigate this world together? How will you cut through the tension between your clans?"
But no the Erins are incapable of writing women having any emotion towards each other except spite

"I… I won't. I'll be good. I promise," Azula said, her voice small. Ozai, behind her, watched his daughter with amusement.
- Gladiator Chapter 346
The trip was much like those they often set out on, and Azula and Zuko fought throughout it as recklessly as they typically did. The nights, of course, were the better moments, as Zuko and Azula fell asleep, allowing Ozai and Ursa to bask in peace and quiet, watching the stars together on deck. It was a placid, easygoing time, and nothing seemed to get in the way of their tranquility…
Ozai reached down, clasping Azula's hand gently. The girl jolted after him, cheeks flushing with excitement as she tried to keep up with the long strides of the two taller men. Once they stood at a fair distance from the others, near the very bridge and pond Azula had fallen in, long ago, Ozai finally decided to speak his mind.
........
"I can…" Azula said, nervously. Piandao crooked an eyebrow.
"Then you would not ridicule your brother, should you best him in combat? You would not be upset, if he ridiculed you for it either?"
"Why can't I do it if he can…?" Azula mumbled. Piandao actually smiled.
"That's what you understood from that?" he asked. "Not quite the answer I was hoping for…"
"I… I won't. I'll be good. I promise," Azula said, her voice small. Ozai, behind her, watched his daughter with amusement.

Friendly reminder that if you're cruel/mean/demeaning directly to children because "you hate them" or "they're annoying" then you are not welcome on my blog. while this may not be a space intended for children, we respect them on this blog; additionally, you're allowed to not like kids/not want them in your space but if you're instantly hostile/horrible to them, I do not want you anywhere near me

AU where Vlad is this fiercely competitive PTA parent for Elle who fights other parents at bake sales.
Mainly because the stereotype of aggressive PTA moms on tv is made funnier if you toss a supervillian with OP powers into the mix.

Before the last episode airs, and I know this is meant more for twitter but I can’t say it there because I will be crucified:
If I see people making jokes about Amity’s chin being ugly just because of god forbid a bad drawing or two, I’m seriously going to (REDACTED). People are legitimately so fucking mean, it was funny for a bit but then devolved into making fun of a girl who just happens to have a prominent chin and not the standard pixie Disney-style “girl face”.
The women of TOH already have a lot less variation especially in things like noses, eyebrows, and face shape to make them look more ‘cute’ and ‘feminine’. I don’t mean this as a major slight on the crew because this kind of design is insidious and kind of happens without actual intent behind it. But obviously someone realized and wanted to change Amity’s face shape for Season 3. And it’s FINE. She’s literally only being made fun of for it because she’s a girl and it’s unusual to see female characters with stronger jaws.
I grew up with an underbite and was pressured by adults into getting (incredibly invasive!!) surgery to correct it since I was eight years old. Surgery that would take 6 weeks for me to recover from and which during that time I wouldn’t be able to eat any solid foods or be able to talk, and it was for almost purely cosmetic reasons! Amity doesn’t even have an underbite. But the world is so cruel to young girls’ appearances that it’s just not funny anymore. God forbid she doesn’t look like Elsa.

Obviously the libfems are loving the Barbie movie because
1) They only care about owning conservatives and I think it's their main motivation to defend and praise the movie rn.
2) They love men. And most of the last part of the entire movie was literally just about a blond incel which they sympathized with the way they sympathize with any kind of misogynistic men in real world. And the movie's message was entirely based on "See? The matriarchy in Barbieland is as bad and do you feel it?" (it wasn't even close to real life patriarchy) and libfems love fighting some invisible structure of misandry in general. Especially to try to reform men. So yeah perfect movie for them.
3) "Feeling" empowered is more important than "being" empowered for them.
If you believe Barbie actually did and could help little girls break gender roles then चुल्लू भर पानी में डूब मरो |
Maybe girls should be encouraged to play with toys like cars, doctor set kits, building blocks or whatever to actually help them and have those things marketed at them instead of only....yk a hyperfeminine fashion doll 🙄🙄
But since all you care about is trolling Ben Shapeepoo then ig nobody can help you.
It's not a deep movie at all. Just have fun and go home. Don't buy a new dress for it. Don't pound your face with makeup. And there are much better feminist movies than this, please stop idolizing it as the best one. Just because men got mad at this one doesn't mean you have to stop here. Think beyond. They will be mad no matter what.
