when I'm a disabled character in the warrior cats world facing constant ableism, forced into a role I'm unhappy in, and never being treated with the respect I deserve: *acts snippy and rude*
wc fans: fuck you. go to hell. I hope the lady who falsely accused you of murder kills you too btw

Just finished rereading yellowfang's secret and I realize that all I need to be whole again in life is to see Brightflower and Brackfoot apologize to Yellowfang
and the authors to apologize to Brightflower for this:

re: my own tags on a previous post i am too lazy to paste them here but needletail’s talk with violetshine is so shoddily done and i am offended on their behalf. first off it’s in alderheart’s point of view and like. that’s nice that he and needletail got to talk too, they deserved to have that, but COME ON. this whole book (well. some of it sigh) you have needletail’s ghost trying to track violetshine down, violetshine has awful dreams in which needletail disdains her, you have violetshine begging for forgiveness and understanding and reassurance that her one closest friend in ALL HER LIFE still cares for her and doesn’t regret sacrificing her life to save her, doesn’t blame her for anything- and in this scene where they finally talk, it is two lines. two pages before the end of the book. and in alderheart’s point of view
THROWS UP MY HANDS CMON
#truly what fanfiction is for. let the two have a damn conversation dear gods#author builds things up halfway to a point that it could get so juicy and interesting and then just drops the ball- chucks it over their sho#shoulder like nah nevermind imma just call it good here#TAKE THE SHOT DUMBASS. HOOP IS RIGHT THERE. DAMN FREE THROW CMON#and anyway alderheart and needletail's relationship could've been juicer too. thankfully it was never romantic but hhhhhhhh it could've been#so much more. friendships are so good and so undervalued and always forgotten and kicked to the curb and it's a fuckin travesty#*tragedy#gnashing my teeth#really let the ball drop on alderheart's character too i think. he was pretty interesting in the first couple books#a medicine cat apprentice with a close connection to starclan but stuffed full of anxiety#rarely agrees with bramblestar (cuz he's a bitch) and it would be so neat! to have a medicine cat like constantly rubbing the wrong way with#their leader like. so often clan leaders boss their medicine cats around or ignore them or refuse to let them do their job but alderheart ha#has a nice rebellious/noble/gotta do the right thing no matter what streak that could've functioned really well in him doing ANYTHING to see#a prophecy fulfilled. even at the price of disobeying his leader and possibly harming the clan's personal sake yknow yknow#COULD'VE BEEN SPICY#COULD'VE BUILT UP ALDERHEART TO PUT ALL HIS TRUST IN STARCLAN ONLY TO BE CRUELLY BETRAYED/DISAPPOINTED/LET DOWN#but no no for the past few books he's just. wandered about worrying over things but never doing anything about them. worried about needletai#needletail but never checking on her#worrying about skyclan and the rogues but never confronting that#worrying about the new prophecy and the six toed cat but only going looking the once#worrying about the clans falling apart but never pushing to reestablish connections or make deals or try and assist in their problems#make alderheart a diplomat medicine cat that would've been cool#i simply think alderheart would have benefited from learning a thing or two from needletail and rebelled a bit#see if they'd spent more time together they could have learned from each other. 'bad influence' this and that but they were good for each ot#other and the story could've gone a neat direction if the author had cared enough to let them interact beyond the first two books :P#>:(#anyway. once again complaining about shittily written children series about feral cats you are very welcome *takes a bow*#can't believe there are still two more books in this series slkdfjsldfjsdfskj yes there's a lot to wrap up still but whenever they even star#start to fix one problem another one (or the same one let's be honest) boils up and the first problem gets ignored lmao. how many more proph#prophecies will we get in these last two books alone

how do surrogacies for cats in another Clan work, socially? With honor siring you don't have to stick around once the cat you're siring for is pregnant; but with surrogacies you're going through an entire pregnancy and kitting process, which your Clan will probably catch onto at some point. Do you just... go off to give birth and come back and tell your Clan "bad news they didn't make it :( they all got uhhh eaten by a hawk sry all" after dropping them off with the cats you surrogated for
The out of universe reason is simple logistics. Some parents can't give birth but they still need a visit from the stork, with how small Clan sizes are.
In-universe, it's a whole process.
MOST surrogacies are done by family, or are in-Clan. A sibling who is able to get pregnant will do so, with the expectation that their family member will take and raise the kits.
More are done on a sort of "open book" policy. Onestar and Whitetail are an example of this; One wanted kits and asked White, but didn't want to coparent. She agreed, and neither one kept it a secret.
So Whitetail is not Heathertail's MOTHER, but it is known she was the honor-sire.
Likewise though, it's within your rights to keep it secret, even within a Clan. If you asked Onestar where the kit came from, invoking Queen’s Rights would shut it down.
But you could put two and two together that Whitetail was probably pregnant and stopped being so right when Onestar became a Mi.
For the record though. Listen carefully.
not every cat who is expecting will suddenly flash like a neon sign indicating it. The whole Clan will not suddenly get a text saying "DUDEHEART IS PREGNANT." Some people just don't show. Some cats don't smell that different. It's rude to ask unprompted and even worse if you guess wrong. Like real life.
Please understand.
On the Anthro-Scale, from 100% feral cat to 100% fuzzy human, BB cat gestation is closer to the feral cat than most of their other behaviors. So this is not the same "big deal" as a human pregnancy.
In general, I write "medical" topics closer to real cats than the Erins do. I mostly take "liberties" in the portrayal of disabilities so THOSE are closer to the real humans in my audience
intelligent cats are not going to be correcting me on my incorrect portrayal of Feline Diabetes, but I could unwittingly cause harm in spreading diabetic misconceptions that real people try to clear up, y'know?
Anyway. What that means is that warriors giving birth is not the federal issue that it is for humans. It's still not TOTALLY safe, but dying in childbirth is exceptionally rare, plus being much less painful and considerably faster
"The Birthing Stick" means something is wrong.
So there's several factors at play within Clans, but Out-of-Clan surrogacies are much more interesting.
These are usually arranged at Aftergatherings. They were rarer before the move to the Lake, which now sees waaaay more cross-clan friendships.
USUALLY the Clan's Cleric will be involved, which IS technically a waiving of the Queen’s Rights. Leafpool simply doesn't interpret it that way.
A more "traditional" Cleric, like Littlecloud, will NOT be involved for personal safety and comfort reasons. This makes a bad situation but that's the reality of QR (and is a reason why Fire Alone cats think QR doesn't go far enough.)
Kits are always given to the parent before 1 moon. Fading Kits aren't socially questioned if they fade before that 1st moon. So it's pretty easy to hide it.
"All of my litter was faders" is unfortunate in the way that a car accident is unfortunate. "Shit, are you ok?" "Is StarClan trying to keep a close eye on you? Are you going to try again?" Etc.
"Frequent Flyer" surrogates, like Brightheart, often keep a single kitten from each litter to avoid the implication of "bad omens."
If they aren't Brightheart who likes raising kittens with her mate, the kitten is often given to an in-Clan parent who wanted a child.
Most surrogacies aren't "free," but it does depend on who's doing it for you.
Like all other things in BB, this looks very different between generations, and depends heavily on the "attitudes" of the Clans at the tine. But, Queen’s Rights will protect you from revealing too much. STILL, surrogacies ARE harder than sirings. Just not impossible.

Month 14 - Newleaf
“Thank you all for coming,” Goldenstar said to the assembled warriors of RisingClan. “This should be quick.” Everyone had gathered at sunhigh to talk while the kits were sleeping. Even Sagetooth and Oddstripe were in attendance. The only cat missing was Songdust, whose absence hung heavy over the group like an ill omen.
Yarrowshade shrugged and said, “We’re happy to be here, Goldie.” She smiled and he grinned in return. It was good to see her smiling again. Beside her, Scorchplume’s tail was twined with hers, a development he had noticed a few days ago but said nothing about yet. Neither of them seemed to want to bring it up either so he left it alone.
“We all want to see the end of this war,” said Pantherhaze and the rest of the group concurred. Yarrowshade in particular couldn’t wait to pay the rogues back for all the grief they had caused him. His claws ached to sink into their fur. His skin itched for the satisfaction of a well-deserved wound.
“I’ve been discussing strategies with Scorchplume,” Goldenstar said, “and she thinks there’s a way we could manage to take Razor out of play, which would be huge.”
“Yes,” Scorchplume said, less excited than Goldenstar was. “It’s risky though.”
“Risky is what we do,” Floodpaw purred proudly. Oddstripe clucked with worry.
“Right,” said Goldenstar. “A risk with big pay off is way better than continuing to sit and wait. Go ahead.”
“Alright,” sighed Scorch. Yarrowshade watched her shift uncomfortably and added another smack to the list of punishments he owed Razor. “When Smokyrose came to the city, they were discussing a peace agreement. Until Ghost arrived, it looked like he was going to arrange a one on one meeting with Goldenstar that he would use to ambush her and take out your leader.”
A few cats shifted bitterly at the mention of Smokyrose.
“The plan is to arrange that meeting,” Goldenstar said with a fiery conviction in her voice, “and then ambush him back.”
“But it’s extremely dangerous,” Scorch cautioned. “Goldenstar will have to be basically alone with Razor for at least a few moments. If there are any mistakes, Goldenstar could die.”
“I could lose a life,” Goldenstar admitted, “but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. As long as the rest of you come in to corner him, we should succeed.” Scorch chewed her lip, tail rippling irritably, and Yarrowshade realized that she still didn’t believe in Goldenstar’s nine lives.
“I think it sounds like a solid course of action,” Sagetooth said. “I’ll consult StarClan but I think we should plan on going through with it.”
“We should ask the other Clans too,” said Pantherhaze. “We only won the last battle because of their help. We could use it again.”
“Yeah, we don’t know how many cats Razor will bring with him,” said Sparrowpaw. “Best to be prepared.”
“I agree,” Goldenstar said, “and I’m sure something this important will get Flightstar and Snowstar to agree to it. Scorchplume believes that Razor thinks I’m the Clans’ only leader, so I’ll also be the one meeting him and taking on all the risk.” Scorch shifted again.
“Just don’t take any unnecessary risks,” Oddstripe said. “I don’t want to have more of you injured than is necessary.” Sagetooth twitched her ear.
“We’ll train in defensive combat strategies and cooperative fighting in preparation,” said Russetfrond, looking more like himself than he had over the last couple days. Yarrowshade had enjoyed how miserable Mystique’s pregnancy had made him at first but by now he was just glad that the deputy had stopped moping. It was unsettling - too unlike him.
“Good idea,” Goldenstar nodded. “Russetfrond and I will come up with a more decisive battle plan and share it with you all during training. Are there any other questions?”
“What are we going to do about Songdust?” Floodpaw asked impatiently. Barleypaw nodded. Sparrowpaw looked at the ground. Pantherhaze and Ospreymask leaned forward for the answer.
Goldenstar shifted. “That’s a little more complicated…”
“I know a cat or two who might be able to help,” Scorch said, “but there’s not much we can do without going into the city which we can’t really do with Razor in power like this.”
“StarClan will protect her if they can,” Sagetooth said. “Defeating Razor is the first step. Then we can think about rescuing Songdust.” No one seemed satisfied with that answer, but Scorch was right. There wasn’t really anything they could do.
After a moment or two of silence, Goldenstar said, “Alright then. Meeting adjourned. Everyone focus on preparing for the battle. May StarClan guide us.”
“May StarClan guide us,” said Sagetooth, Oddstripe, Barleypaw, and Pantherhaze’s staggered voices. The cats began to disperse. Yarrowshade picked himself up and moved to talk with Scorch and Goldenstar.
“Hey, you guys wanna go train or something?” he asked. Goldenstar looked to Scorchplume.
“You two can go,” Scorch said. “I’m not going to go anywhere near Razor.”
“Still, it can’t hurt to get some practice in, right?” Yarrowshade asked. She looked at him and he swore he could hear her thoughts, how irritating she found him, how much she hated him for ‘choosing Nightfrost.’
“Fine,” she said shortly.
“Great,” Goldenstar laughed a little and Scorch shot her a subtle glare. “Or what if we scout out places for the meeting instead? That’s something you could help with.”
“I suppose,” Scorchplume hummed, seeming more inclined to that idea. Yarrowshade couldn’t help but feel like she just liked Goldenstar’s ideas better than his. He swallowed tightly and tried not to look disappointed.
“Sounds good to me,” he said brightly. “Let’s go.”
They set out towards the southern border. The day was warm for the season, bright and sunny with a welcome breeze. Yarrowshade tilted his face to the sun and tried to enjoy the warmth of it.
“How’ve you been, by the way?” asked Goldenstar.
He tilted his head in her direction. “Good, I guess.” Lonely. “I’ve missed hanging out with you two though.”
“Same, honestly,” Goldenstar said, leaning into Scorchplume’s side. “I can’t wait for all this business to be over so things can go back to normal.”
“Normal is extremely relative,” Scorch hummed. “I for one am sick of normal.”
“We’ll just have to make a new normal then,” Yarrowshade tried, offering her a smile. She raised her brows at him but said nothing. He tried not to frown.
“Scorch,” Goldenstar said softly. “He’s trying. Be nice to him.” Yarrowshade blushed at being called out like that. Was he so obvious? Scorch scowled at Goldenstar but there was no malice in her gaze.
“I’ll do what I please,” she huffed.
“I know,” purred Goldenstar, “but you guys used to be good friends right? I don’t see the point in holding onto a grudge when you could just get along again.”
“Look,” Yarrowshade cut in, fur prickling in discomfort, “if it helps; I’m sorry for whatever I did.”
“Whatever you did?” Scorch raised her brows even higher somehow.
“Yes?” he winced. This felt like a trap.
“What was that, exactly?” Scorch asked. Goldenstar was mouthing something but he was terrible at reading lips.
“For…” Yarrowshade hesitated. He had to find the correct answer. “For not choosing you?” There was a moment of silence where Scorch sized him up and he and Goldenstar held their breath.
Then Scorch said, “Apology accepted.” Both Yarrowshade and Goldenstar sighed in relief. Scorch flicked her ear in annoyance.
But after that, things were alright. Yarrowshade brought up a funny story from hunting with Barleypaw the other day and the others laughed. Scorch poked fun at him with an easy smile rather than a cold, defensive one. Goldenstar wouldn’t stop purring. He still felt like he was walking on thin ice, but at least for now Scorch was finding him entertaining. That was all he wanted, really.
Discussion moved on to talk about how Barleypaw and her littermates would be warriors in a moon or two. Goldenstar expressed being nervous about her first real warrior ceremony as leader and Scorch and Yarrowshade told her she had nothing to worry about. From there, they started talking about Slatekit and Fogkit and their upcoming ceremony.
“I still don’t know who should mentor Fogkit,” said Goldenstar as they paused to examine the sightlines on one hill. “I think I have Slatekit settled but Fogkit doesn’t like Ospreymask anymore and I’m not sure who else could mentor her.”
“She’s a pawful, isn’t she?” Yarrowshade chuckled. “Yesterday I caught her ‘crafting curses’ out of claw sheds and bird bones.”
“Crafting curses?” Scorch said skeptically.
“Yeah,” shrugged Yarrowshade. “I don’t know where she got the idea but she said she was trying to curse the rogues to death.” He shook his head. “I’m honestly glad I already have Barleypaw cause I don’t think I would want to try and untangle that whole mess.”
“Yeah, that’s the thing,” Goldenstar said. “I would take her myself but I’ve already got Floodpaw.”
“You can’t just take every apprentice who seems like they’ll be a pawful,” Scorch huffed.
“Is that a challenge?” Goldenstar teased and Scorch rolled her eyes.
“Look, if it’s really such a predicament, just give her to me.”
Yarrowshade and Goldenstar fell into stunned silence.
“What?” Scorch bristled defensively. “Is that so outlandish?”
“No, no,” Goldenstar said quickly, a smile spreading across her face, “I just didn’t expect you to want an apprentice! I mean, it’s a pretty big commitment.”
“Does that mean you’re staying?” Yarrowshade asked excitedly.
Scorch swished her tail back and forth, puffing up like a ginger pigeon. “For now,” she said. “By the time I leave, Floodpaw will be a warrior and then Goldenstar can take over her training.”
Yarrowshade cocked a brow, smirking. “I don’t buy it.”
Goldenstar was grinning like an idiot. “Oh, Scorch!” she purred, butting her head into Scorchplume’s shoulder. “I love you so much!”
“That’s it!” Scorch said, putting both paws on Goldenstar’s face and shoving her away. “I’m actually leaving right now and throwing myself in the river.”
“Wait, no!” wailed Goldenstar through laughter. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to use the forbidden word!” She threw herself at Scorch’s feet and clung to her like a needy kitten. Scorch huffed a laugh through her nose.
“Please, your excellence,” she said, pretending to be scandalized, “you forget yourself.” Goldenstar laughed, chest thrumming with an uncontrollable purr.
Yarrowshade swallowed thickly. Grief, unexpected and overwhelming, flooded his mind as he watched them joke and flirt. Neither of them seemed to notice and he was grateful for it. He carefully turned away and started down the far side of the hill, breathing slowly through his nose to try and stop himself from tearing up.
Get it together, Yarrowshade, he thought to himself. This was such a stupid thing to cry over! He wasn’t going to let them see him like this.
“Look,” Scorch said smugly, “your pathetic displays have scared off Yarrowshade.”
“Ah!” Goldenstar cried, still laughing, “Yarrowshade, wait! I’m sorry!”
He paused and let out one last breath before forcing the frown off of his face. “I think this hill is too exposed,” he said, glancing back at them. “Maybe we should try somewhere with trees?”
“Oh, that’s a good idea,” Goldenstar had gotten to her feet and was halfway to him, Scorch trailing behind. Both of them looked so happy it hurt to watch.
“Do you think Orangestar would let us hold the meeting on EarthClan territory?” he asked, looking away. He focused his eyes on the trees up ahead and tried to pretend that he was fine.
“Maybe!” Goldenstar said. “I’ll bring it up at the Gathering.”
“Hmm,” Scorch chewed her lip. “Could we take a look anyway or would that be inappropriate.”
“I’m not sure,” Goldenstar said.
“Probably best to wait for permission,” Yarrowshade said.
“Yeahhhh,” Goldenstar sighed. “Oh well. Why don’t we catch some lunch and head back?”
“Sounds good to me,” said Scorch.
“Yeah,” Yarrowshade turned back to them, smiling again even if it felt a little forced. “I’d love that.”

mm id love to hear about mousefur or willowpelt
Mousefur already has a pretty solid personality and role, I didn’t have much to change about her, so I’ll do Willowpelt! I like what I’ve done with her so far :]
I always found it interesting how Graypaw was much more relaxed on befriending and chatting with a kittypet compared to the other apprentices. (The only other one that was “friendly” being Ravenpaw, who was too busy being scared his mentor would kill him 😭) So I thought I’d use his mom to explore that a bit! I wanted some diversity on how cats think, raise their kits, and what they believe.
Willowpelt gives birth to Graykit during a period of famine in Thunderclan. Because their numbers are so big compared to the other clans, a harsh winter was all it took. The forest simply couldn’t sustain all of their population. Many cats starved, but notably her close friends, like Robinwing and Patchpelt, as well as Graykit’s father, Fuzzypelt. (I’ve switched some family trees around- Fuzzypelt as Gray’s father just makes sense to me) She takes the losses hard and it really changed her perspective on things. She starts to see border shuffles and infighting between clans as trivial. There’s a reason Starclan hides the moons when they fight at gatherings, isn’t there?
The biggest threat to the clans isn’t eachother, it’s surviving in the wild. Though not many agree with her sentiment, she’s pretty open and vocal about wishing the clans would work together and her priorities are always on her clan’s wellbeing instead of battle. She believes that if clan relations were better and not everything was about pride, Thunderclan might have been able to reach out to the other clans during the famine and asked for their help. Then maybe, so many wouldn’t have died… Bluestar was her mentor here as well, she actually got a bit of this ideology during her apprenticeship. So Willowpelt taught Graypaw to be open-minded from a young age. He’s always had very little hostility for outsiders and the other clans. She was surprised about his relationship with Silverstream, but she absolutely defended and supported him.
I genuinely think she would have left Thunderclan with him and joined Riverclan with her grandkits, but I haven’t quite decided where Sorrel, Rain, and Soot, are in this timeline- or if they're even hers. I don’t think she’d be able leave if she was already caring for them. But either way, after the initial surprise of the reveal, Willowpelt supported her son entirely.

ohohoho ideas in brain >:) now this is just a potential idea because I think it could be fun, but I also don’t know how well it would mesh with current mudlore. ANYWAY.
Basically, the idea is that the original clans (pre-micaclan's formation) each had a patron spirit to like. sponsor the first leaders with their nine lives or whatever. And they have to be old spirits, with deep connections to the grounds the clans make their territory. And this is how starclan kinda forms, with the backing of this Extra Strong Ghost that kinda rallies their spirits in the beginning before finally passing on. Maybe the only ghosts that can be this type of patron spirit are the ones who feel as though they can't pass on without leaving a legacy?? idk yet I'm still Thinking.
So a lack of Strong Ghost Friend is stopping Mica from having a legitimate entry into leadership with the nine lives and such, and no starclan for her and her clan(?? still thinking about this). Maybe a healer from one of the other clans defects/gets kicked out, and they explain this all to Mica after joining her little not-yet-an-actual-clan. So mica is like, where do you even find an old ghost. how am i gonna get one of those. And one of her friends is like "well they say everything further upstream of the river is Super Cursed and my friend's mom's cousin told me it's because of an ancient ghost there that hates everyone and everything" and Mica goes "PERFECT I'll go talk to them!!" ignoring how Healer is like "THAT PLACE IS CURSED FOR A REASON DO NOT GO THERE"
So Mica goes upstream with a couple of her buddies, until she finds the river's source. And there she meets Ancient Angry Ghost, who turns out to be the ghost of a smilodon. It pops up out of the water and it's not saying any words but it's basically radiating 'you're gonna die' energy. And Mica just starts talking to them. Like she's definitely freaking out and terrified but she's SO good at playing cool. And maybe she leaves after they get too angry, but she comes back the next day. And then next. And the next. And she eventually manages to wear down this angry prehistoric ghost into being her friend.
Maybe it turns out they stuck around so long because they were the last of their kind, and they never got closure for the loneliness they felt in life. They come to like Mica for her brash spirit, unwavering courage, and surprisingly sharp cunning. When Mica offers them friendship, offers them a group to carry on their way of life in the present day, they agree to be the clan's patron spirit.
This is all because I think it would be cool for Micastar to have this giant ghost warrior of Ye Olden Days following her around like "YOU MUST BE WILLING TO KILL TO PROTECT YOUR OWN. YOU MUST TREAT YOUR ENEMIES AS THE DUST BENEATH YOUR PAWS. DEFEND YOUR FAMILY AGAINST ANY WHO WOULD ENDANGER IT" and Mica being like "it don't bite :)" and the other clans being like "YES IT DO—"

Just a quick drawing of my Lionblaze is Scourge's reincarnation au :) I am still sick so the drawing is a bit wonky here and there.....
This au is still a vague concept and everyone is free to interpret it or create their own story line with it ! It's mainly made to make Lionblaze more revelant as a character, I liked the idea of him having the power to be "impossible to defeat in battle", and at the same time, be the reincarnation of the one of most deadly cats in the series !
So what if Scourge's new chance at life - being Lionblaze - turned out to be not that much of a good idea ?
Starclan "rant" ahead !
Starclan is often a bit weird when they give out powers and prophecies, such as lying to Squirrelflight about being infertile so that she would adopt the Three. ...Or forcing Jayfeather to become a medicine cat against his will, going literally against their decision to reincarnate Cinderpelt so that she would become a warrior because she was made a medicine cat against her will ??? If we follow Starclan's logic, then Jayfeather would have to then be reincarnated to become a warrior because his dream to become a warrior was cut short by Starclan ITSELF ???
Anyway, Starclan being so strange about its decisions, it would be right up its alley to make Scourge's reincarnation have a power to give him a full chance at bettering himself, just like how Brambleclaw was given the chance to kill off Firestar to become leader, and chose to kill Hawkfrost instead.
Knowing that Lionblaze's main inner conflict is the fear of losing control and killing people against his will, being Scourge's reincarnation would make that way more difficult. What if Scourge had genuinely always been a horrible person ? What if Scourge was meant to be terrible in every single timeline, Tigerpaw or not ? Would Lionblaze be able to fight off this strange, tingling need for blood ? Starclan really be testing my boi Lionblaze in this au.
But anyway I hope you enjoy that small sketch! It's not much, but it's honest work lol ! :)
Oh, also, sorry for the Starclan rant again, I feel like I keep ranting about Starclan but Starclan is such a strange mecanic in Warriors ??? Like they go against their very own concepts at some points (the cinderpelt/jayfeather point...), not even counting the fact that they would let Ashfur in Starclan when he threatened to KILL three cats just because Squirrelflight friendzoned him years before wtf??? Or sending Frecklewish to the Dark Forest??? I might make a full written post to talk about Starclan because Starclan is a really weird plot device and they can't seem to keep track of what they are doing. Such as : Let's forbid the medicine cats from having kits. But let's give the children of Crowfeather and Leafpool some powers. Why would Starclan give powers to children that are born against their own values ???
Idk man Starclan is really weird sometimes and I wish they were more... Logical ? Maybe these are just neatpick ? If you have anything to add, if you agree or not, feel free to tell me ! :)
(Also should I write Starclan as a "it" or as a "they" ? I am a bit confused so I used both on this text !)

Everything will we all right, as long as we have each other.
By Dragon Anon
Marshjump sighed, weaving his way through the set of tunnels he and Bearspring had found so many moons ago. He assumed countless apprentices had found the crevasse near their den, squeezing through the sharp opening to explore the ancient trails.
Marshjump was nearly too large to fit now, but he knew that's where he'd find his sister. The scent of blood was growing stronger, too. "Bearspring?"
"Marshjump?" In the shadows, Marshjump could just make out Bearspring's form. "What are you doing here?"
"Making sure you're all right. You need to see Sagespeckle. Your shoulder-"
"My shoulder is fine," Bearspring snapped. A few moments went by, and she murmured, "Sorry. I'm not mad at you, I just..."
"It's okay." Marshjump pressed his pelt against his littermate's, an unspoken gesture of warmth. "What happened out there?"
"I hesitated."
"That isn't what I meant. Your claws were nearly in Wolfbite's throat. If you hadn't 'hesitated,' you might have killed her."
"I wouldn't have killed her," Bearspring scoffed, ears pinning against her head.
"Wolfbite looked... afraid. She only attacked you so viciously because she thought you were going to... well."
"So you're siding with her now?" Bearspring hissed suddenly, pulling away from Marshjump. The tom blinked in surprise.
"I'm not siding with anyone. Wolfbite is our clanmate. StarClan wouldn't want this. We shouldn't be fighting each other."
"StarClan," Bearspring sneered, shaking her head. "StarClan isn't real, Marshjump."
"What?" The tom recoiled, a mixture of shock and horror surging through him. "How can you say that?"
"What proof do we have of their existence, Marshjump? What good have their rules ever done us?"
"Our mother was given nine lives by StarClan, and blessed to lead this clan. This... nonsense you're speaking needs to stop, Bearspring. I get that you're upset, but-"
"Our mother abandoned us!" Bearspring snapped. "If she actually had nine lives, she wouldn't have lost every one to some mysterious illness. It doesn't add up, Marshjump. Cherrystar never had nine lives, and neither does Ravenstar. It's a necessary lie to keep the clan in line."
" . . . I didn't know you felt this way."
"There's a lot you don't know."
Marshjump frowned, stung. There had been a time when Bearspring was his closest friend and confidant. Recently, she had grown distant. Harsher. Cruel. "Even if I don't agree, I'm glad you felt comfortable sharing your feelings."
"You sound like Quailcall."
"She's a wise cat."
"She's a pointless cat. She provides nothing for the clan."
Marshjump opened and shut his mouth a few times. Exhaled. "I think we're done talking, Bearspring."
"Fine. Leave."
And so Marshjump left, silent as leafbare's first frost.
...
Marshpaw stared, awed. Sootpaw had caught a ptarmigan nearly mid-flight, sending it crashing back to the ground and snapping its neck. "Incredible work, Sootpaw," Littleleaf purred, trotting forward to praise his apprentice.
Bearpaw frowned. "Where did she learn to do that?"
"She's incredible, isn't she?" Marshpaw was still watching the grey she-cat with open admiration.
"I guess." Bearpaw flexed her claws. "I bet I could do that, too."
Marshpaw glanced at his sister. "Why don't we go practice hunting, and next time you can be the one to catch a ptarmigan mid-flight?"
"Yeah." Bearpaw's gaze brightened. "Okay. Let's go train!"
...
"Where's your sister?"
"What?" Marshjump started, looking up from the squirrel he'd been gnawing on a moment ago.
"She promised to go hunting with me later," Sootstep drawled. "And yet she's nowhere to be seen. Typical."
"Bearspring is still recovering from her injury. She shouldn't be hunting or--or doing anything, anyway."
Sootstep flicked her tail dismissively. "Bearspring doesn't need you to make her decisions for her. Just let me know if you see her, okay? And tell her I won't wait around for her forever. I'll just end up going with Flamefall instead."
". . . okay."
...
"Eep! It moved!" Bearkit sprang backwards, tail puffed up like a bottlebrush.
"Don't worry, I'll get it," Marshkit mrrped, scrambling forward. With a swift swipe, Marshkit dispatched the spider that had been terrorizing his sister.
"Thank you." Bearkit bonked her head against her littermate's, purring softly.
"Of course. Just remember, everything will be all right, as long as we have each other." Marshkit grinned. "Now, why don't we play warriors? I wanna be Cherrystar this time. . ."
...
Marshjump froze. Ripplefade, oblivious to his son's tension, continued idly chatting about clan news.
Marshjump's gaze was locked on Bearspring, who was perched near Ravenstar and Levi. The three seemed to be having a pleasant discussion. It filled Marshjump with dread.
"...and then Frozenkit bit my tail! Tch. Pebblefreeze lets them get away with anything. I don't blame her, though. Her kits sure are cute. Not as cute as you and your sister when you two were kits, though, but... ah, Marshjump? Are you listening?"
"What? Sorry." Marshjump's gaze flicked to Ripplefade, who was watching him expectantly. "I'm listening."
"All right. So, while I was scolding Frozenkit, Tempestkit started sneaking off! I didn't even notice at first..." Ripplefade's voice became a jumble of meaningly words to Marshjump within moments.
He sighed. Really, he should enjoy these happy moments. And yet, he couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. Melancholy. Disquiet.
Shaking his head, Marshjump settled down beside his father, forcing the disturbed thoughts from his mind. Everything would turn out all right.
He was sure of it.

(little exploration of marsh and bear's relationship. would be a shame if anything bad were to happen to them /silly)
(beetle note: a shame indeed :3 i love love love this fic, your characterization of bear and marsh is so good!!!! and i always adore all the little details you add in,,, Pebblefreeze letting her kits get away with anything really stuck out to me. its so true)

I wanna add on my thoughts about character assassination because I saw the anon post about squirrelstar being written as doing nothing to stop splashtail because otherwise the story falls short if any cat had a brain in this arc and I agree. I really hate how they write characters for the sake of them needing the plot to move when they could just use other characters that actually fit or actually make it make sense. Like in the new prophecy, squirrelpaw is written to be suspicious of hawkfrost and yet brambleclaw disagrees AND EVEN LEAFPAW HER OWN SISTER EVEN THOUGH LEAFPAW SAID SHE TOO DISTRUSTS HAWKFROST AND IT MAKES NO SENSE, but because the plot needs the drama there it is. And again in squirrelflight’s hope, everyone basically is against squirrelflight for whatever reason because the erins needed the drama for sake of the apparent lesson of the book being that cats need to listen to their fucking deputy for once. It happens AGAIN in the broken code when NOBODY listened to THEIR FUCKING DEPUTY squirrelflight even when she was temporary leader. It makes no sense but because the erins need PLOT!!!1!1! suddenly everyone is brain dead or dumb or hostile for no reason. It also applies to yellowfang in starclan too who suddenly becomes a massive dick! and the whole leafpool and squirrelflight trial?!?! All because they wanted the drama but dont know how to properly write that or use CHARACTERS THAT MAKE SENSE FOR IT.

The Medics of the Clans
I’m planning a rewrite of warrior cats so I’m messing around with how they work, nothing too out there but I like what I got going on.
Ok so somethings I’ve changed is the hole thing of you are an apprentice until your mentor dies, that’s silly and I’ll get to that in a minute.
The second thing I changed is the name, medicine cat as it’s an appropriation of North American indigenous cultures.
A lot of people have changed the name to Healer but personally I don’t like it, nothing against I just don’t care for it. So I’ve changed it to Medic because so much of warrior cats is fighting and battles, it makes sense to me it wound keep with that theme.
Different titles
I’ve gone and made little “titles” for different types of medics. These are the most common titles.
First is Medic Apprentice could also be known as the Medic’s apprentice or Medic in training, it’s exactly what it sounds like, a cat that is learning how to be a Medic.
The Second Medic is a fully trained medic who, most of the time is the youngest fully trained medic, it’s custom for there to be at least two Medics in the clan, the second is to listen and help the head medic
The Head Medic is the one who is in charge of the medicine den and everything that is going on, in and around it. The Head Medic takes on the role when the previous Head Medic retires or dies.
Senior Medic the oldest, most senior medic in the clan. Is normally retired but not always.
Tumblr media
A chart of Leafpool’s history as a Medic, going from bottom to top, just to give you an idea of how this kinda works.
A Disgraced medic is a cat that broken the code severely and has been stripped of the medic title (even when that code is severely unfair).
Field Medic are warriors that have basic training in medicine and healing, they are normally sent on battle patrols or patrols that have the possibility to turn violent.
Tumblr media
Hollyleaf and Brightheart are examples of Field Medics!
Tumblr media
Also important to remember that Senior medic does not always mean their the head medic!
Example of this is while Goosefeather was the senior medic of Thunderclan, he was retired and Featherwhisker was the Head Medic who was in full control of the Thunderclan medic den.
History of Medics
Ok this is very much a work in progress/ has ver little done and I’ll definitely be revisiting this later with a more in detail post, BUT, until then this is what I got so far-
I dont like a lot of stuff in moth flight’s vision, so much of it dose not make sense like, why would you split up your young kids when you didn’t have to? Why did any of the other medicine cats agree to such a dumb rule proposed by a very young, new to this job cat?? Wtf is going on here??
I really like the direction bonefall’s going with their rewrite of moth flight, it makes sooo much more sense to have the kits be older and have training in medicine and that’s why they were split up. I still don’t know how I’m going to tackle moth flight’s vision tho, but moth flight will definitely have a lot of Importance in the clan’s history.
Such as below! After a cat finishes their Medic training they receive a Luna moth wing.
Tumblr media
I will be doing a post on Starclan so hopefully she’ll show up there.
The Medic role will be invented in dotc.
The no mate no children role may not be invented until later in the timeline?? Maybe??
At the end of oots/avos the clans are going to get a bit of a soft reboot and the no mate no children rule is going to fuck off, much to the dismay of a handful cats who think the code is a vital part of clan life
Which brings us to the broken code where shit is hitting the fan but that’s for another post
Like I said it’s really a work in progress but I’ll put a link down here when I post more stuff about it!

MOON 03. (cont.)
(tw; (unintentional) misgendering, injury/death suggestion, trauma)
Starring: Cliffpaw (BuddingClan), Bitterndrift (CypressClan), Springmallow (CypressClan), Bitterrumble (CypressClan) Mentions: Pondstar (CypressClan), Magpiestar (FlintClan)
“You don’t have to stay by the kids' side all day, you know?” A black bengal cat chided as he stepped through the rocky opening of the CypressClan healers’ den, a chaffinch hanging from his jaws.
“You say that, but I was the one who convinced Pondstar to let Bitterrumble treat her. She’s my responsibility until she can go back to her own Clan.” The ginger and white molly places her tail softly across Cliffpaw’s back, a soft expression crossing her usually stern face.
The tomcat pads forward a bit and places the bird about a tail-length from Bitterndrift and the apprentice. “She’s been out for a few days now… is Bitterrumble sure she’ll wake up?” His copper eyes show concern as they go from the wounded stranger to his clanmate.
A dusty brown tomcat emerges from one of the dark tunnels that branched from further within the cave opening, carrying an assortment of herbs with him which he promptly takes to another corner of his den, one with a bit more light, and proceeds to use a stone to grind them slowly into a paste. “She’s still in shock,” he muses while he works. “If she wakes from this, which is still an if Bitterndrift, it’ll still be within StarClan’s paws whether or not she’ll survive for long after.”
The ginger molly shrinks somewhat at the healer’s words, making room for him when he approaches with the herbaceous paste. “It’s hard to say if she’s ingesting any of these, but I’d rather waste a few herbs than not try treatment.” He mutters while opening Cliffpaw’s muzzle with one paw and using the other to coat his tongue with the poultice, grimacing after a moment of thought. “Don’t tell Pondstar I said that one, right? I can’t say he’d be the happiest if he found out I was using so many resources on some apprentice from FlintClan.” The two warriors agree, knowing that in spite of Bitterrumble’s lighthearted chuckle, Pondstar would, in fact, not be pleased.
“Do her dressings need to be changed yet?” Bitterndrift chirps, bending down to sniff at the treated wrappings, the overpowering scent of horsetail and garlic makes it impossible to glean much information.
Bitterrumble shakes his head. “Not until sundown, though now that you mention it, I should get a head-start on what I’ll need to wash the bite out again. Springmallow, would you mind accompanying me?”
“Oh- sure thing! I’ll catch you later then, Bitterndrift-- and don’t forget to eat that bird I brought you!” The black and grey tom brushes against the other warrior affectionately as he passes, leaving alongside the healer.
“Right-- be safe! Keep your nose to the wind!” Bitterndrift called after her clanmates as they left, slouching in her posture only when she was sure they were out of sight.
A few moments pass before she addresses the bird her clanmate had brought her; she knew it was best she ate, but having done so little but watch over a cat she’d never even met before, she found herself without much of an appetite.
A sense of calm returns to the den, broken by a sudden gasp, and a sputtering cough. Bitterndrift jumps when the cat beside her begins to convulse, eyes widening with worry when her immediate thought was the cat beside her choking on whatever it was Bitterrumble had just recently administered. “Hey, hey, you’re okay.” She tried to soothe, placing her tail across the other protectively again.
The sensation of her touch seemed to startle the apprentice, the tabby jolting away from her and falling over onto his side. “Who are you? What do you want with me? Am I dead?” He continued to hack and wheeze while he strained to open his remaining good eye to get a look at his assailant? Savior?
“I’m sorry I scared you-- my name is Bitterndrift, w-”
“I’m… I’m alive then?” His breathing begins to slow, if only just.
“You’re alive… Er-”
“Then I need to get back to my clanmates-- they have to be worried sick about me- and there’s no way Amberpaw has been ab-” In a hurry of movements, Cliffpaw picks himself up only to fall over once more into the mossy nest beneath him.
“We can bring you back to your clanmates as soon as you’re stable-- you’re from FlintClan, right?” She wants to ask about the fate of the clan; they hadn’t been present at the gatherings in moons, surely something must have happened to them-- but she fights against this impulse, not wanting to overwhelm someone who was already experiencing so much. “You shouldn’t move around so much, I’m not a healer, I don’t know how healed your wound is. If you started bleeding again, there’s not a lot I’d be able to do to help you.”
Cliffpaw is silent again for a while, allowing himself to stay collapsed in the nest and fully absorb the situation. “Are you sure I’m not dead?”
“Not dead yet.”
“Okay. That’s good.” He moves slowly this time, wincing as he sits up to get a better look at the warrior. “How long have I been here? I’m in CypressClan, right? What happened after I-” He could feel his stomach sink all over again.
“You’ve been in CypressClan for two days now. After you were bit, Springmallow and I rushed you back here to our camp. Pondstar isn’t the most hospitable to outsiders, but with your precarious situation, even he wasn’t going to turn you away.” Even if that “situation” simply meant wanting information on FlintClan’s status… “Could I please get your name?”
“My name is Cliffpaw-- I was Magpiestar’s apprentice.”
“I take that to mean Magpiestar is no longer with us?”
Cliffpaw clenches his jaw, turning his head away from Bitterndrift.
“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to pry. FlintClan hasn’t shown up to a gathering in moons now, everyone has been wondering-”
“There’s only four of us now.”
Bitterndrift’s previously composed demeanor drops, if only for a moment. “I beg your pardon?”
“The wolves. They found us. I… I blinded one of them when we were escaping to The Moonlit Caverns… I…” Cliffpaw’s remaining eye store hard at his paws. “It found me.”
“I’m… I’m very sorry to hear that.” There were a lot of words which could be said to express how one feels when brought with such news, but none which could compare to the feelings of those who had gone through it. Another worry courses through Bitterndrift, one she refrains from voicing.
The distant sound of voices made for a welcome reprieve, Bitterndrift nudging the bird over to Cliffpaw. “Here, you should eat this. I’ll tell the others you're awake, is there anything else you’d like me to say to them?”
The tabby is pensive for a while, looking at the chaffinch. He’d never had to do this before, not on his own. For some reason, this almost made him more nervous than speaking about his encounters with the wolves. “Could you also tell them that I’m a tom? I could kind of hear you earlier, but I wasn’t able to move yet.”
“Oh-!” Bitterndrift seems caught off-guard for a moment, before giving the other a soft nod. “Of course I can, Cliffpaw. I’m sorry about earlier.”
Before waiting for a reply, the ginger warrior goes to greet her clanmates outside the den.
while we're in CypressClan for a detour, anyone have questions for our newly introduced cats? next update and we'll be back in BuddingClan to see what everyone's been up to! : 3

I saw someone say Leafpool should've given her kits to Daisy and Ferncloud and called them loners instead of 'pressuring Squirrelflight'. Ignoring that Leafpool was reasonably desperate given that Half-Clan cats have been killed (Mapleshade's litter, Stonefur), tortured (Mistystar, Feathertail, Stormfur) or even forced to live with their other parent (Graypool and Willowbreeze),(and that StarClan and the system of the Clans is to blame, not her). And that she didn't pressure her, it's not even
Tumblr media
Yeah, I gotta agree with you. The whole point was to keep them safe and give them a life where they could be normal warriors who wouldn't be given trouble in their Clan. Pretending they're abandoned outsider kits would entirely kill the point of that. The Clans aren't even sympathetic to orphaned 'outsider' babies, just look at how Twigkit and Violetkit were treated. So my take as it is is nah, doesn't have the same emotional beats the original idea has and makes Leafpool and Squilf look arguably worse. I'd take the original.
I guess if I could change it, maybe have Daisy and Ferncloud be in on it? Or maybe in this one, Brambleclaw is involved and he's the one who pushes the loner narrative without the sisters approval (not the first time he's fine with fucking up kittens lives! rip violet and twig). idk, gotta agree, I just don't care for the idea.

Hope you don’t mind another Littlepaw ask! Did he ever feel called to the seer role, or suspect he had an aptitude for it? Or did it come as a shock to him?
Not a problem at all! Always fun to talk about characters.
Littlepaw was one of the kittens who was made an apprentice way early by Brokenstar, at four months old. Even at that time, he felt a pull towards Fognose that he didn't fully understand, but he had an idea that it was going to be important - just not exactly how. Around the same time Murkpelt booked it to escape Brokenstar, Littlepaw became a proper Warden for the remaining seer, even fleeing ShadowClan with him later on when things got too dangerous. It was here, coincidentally, that he began to understand signs and guess at what visions meant in a startlingly accurate way. Fognose wasn't sure what to make of it, but he kept that in mind for later.
Littlepaw had a couple months of warrior training, but he wasn't very good at it. His attention would drift over to Fognose and to the dreams his charge was receiving, even more than a normal Warden. He had a lot of time given to him to take care of the seer, as is ShadowClan's custom with young Wardens, which probably contributed to his lack of skill with fighting and hunting - mind, he has the knowledge of how to do the practical stuff, just not the capability to perform them well. He spent almost every free, waking moment with Fognose, and his relationship with his mentor, Flintfang, began to diminish. He started seeing signs all on his own, signs that even Fognose had missed, and he was increasingly curious about StarClan and how to communicate with them. Flintfang and Fognose alike had a feeling that Littlepaw was meant for something greater than warriorhood, but there was a hesitation to it, since he knew things a seer shouldn't know for the sake of staying spiritually clean.
When Fognose received a dream of StarClan making it clear that Littlepaw should be his apprentice, I can't say that he was completely taken by surprise, and neither was Littlepaw. The itty-bitty ant was very excited at the news, seeing it as a dream come true: he gets to take care of his favorite cat AND he gets to speak to StarClan and the Three! How great is that? It's all he wanted at this point, so he eagerly agreed to tutoring under Fognose. The rest of the Clan wasn't too sure about it, since he had started as a warrior apprentice, but any uncertainties or protests were soothed with the acknowledgement that StarClan themselves ordered it to be so. Littlepaw was made Fognose's apprentice almost immediately, and he's been there ever since.

(dif anon) So is Ashfur grooming Shadowsight a plotline you would keep/rework in BB? I'm not so keen on the way canon used it to retcon his epilepsy, but I do think a plotline examining how clerics can be vulnerable to abuse from StarClan spirits is kinda compelling
Shadowsight's epilepsy is staying in BB, the Erins can try and take it away again over my dead body
Yes, that's staying and BB!StarClan was reworked with unfairness in mind.
This time around, I'm considering the idea that Ashfur didn't work completely alone. After the events of Squirrelflight’s Horror, Silverpelt's divisons are starting to crackle the stars.
Skystar and the other more traditional spirits are losing patience with the peace that Fire Alone brings, and the ways that the code has been bent.
They feel that honor is being lost in their descendants.
Even angels disrespect the collective; see how Skypelt has its own heaven? With a demon in its midst? There is blasphemy even in the skies.
Firestar and the more modern pantheon are ferociously defensive of the choices of the living. StarClan exists for them; not the other way around.
Meanwhile, Mousefur has gone missing. Others start to blink out, too. This is causing panic... and Ashfur keeps it quiet that he's the only one who knows where they've gone.
The angels that plan action probably were a small group to begin with, radical spirits. Skystar and Ashfur are two of them, and Ash is the "youngest." So when he comes down to the mortal plane and betrays them, very few other angels knew what had happened.
(I might even have a few angels be doing the various supernatural things in that first book, but slowly, Ashfur is wittling down their numbers until it's just him.)
I'm still working out specifics, but the other angels that Ashfur has consumed are giving him a massive power boost. He can use this to jump between planes freely, and he's able to do some whacky things like weave dreams and pull nightmares out of the Dark Forest.
The most important unique power he has, which he can do ALL on his own once he's absorbed enough starpower, is blast Shadowpaw with a bolt of lightning. The electric current runs through Shadowpaw's brand new scar, giving him a connection to StarClan like he's a little radio tower.
Thing is... when StarClan is blocked off, the only signal he receives is Ashfur's.
So, Shadowpaw.
From the time he was very young, Shadowkit has had an unhealthy relationship to life and death
He watched a lot of cats die before he was old enough to really understand it, and the only one who came back was Heartstar.
His epilepsy was so severe it would have been terminal. He was prepared to die as a kit.
Tawnypelt took him to the Tribe to learn more about treatments, bringing back a method of refining chamomile to manage the convulsions.
When people come back from death, it was to serve "a purpose."
He feels like he needs to be special, like he needs to find the great meaning in his life. The reason why he's still here.
In BB, there can be guardian angels. Cats you knew in life who decide to watch out for you in the afterlife. Moleflight is Jayfeather's, Shrewface is Squirrelflight’s. Ashfur poses as Shadowpaw's.
THAT is how I plan to address my criticism. Ashfur DOES build a very personal, trusting relationship with Shadowpaw, pretending to be the one who's here to give him the destiny he craves. Pretending like he's someone looking out for him.
I actually LIKE how desperate the situation was in-canon and I want to stress how none of this was Shadow's fault, so I also plan to keep that they had very little choice. Shadowpaw trusts his angel completely, and Ashfur coaches him on saying all the right things.
The older Clerics are suspicious, but... what else can they do?
Also, instead of framing this all as something Shadowpaw needs to "atone" for, I'm going to make certain cats unfairly scapegoat him for bringing the Impostor into the forest. Shadowpaw himself agrees with them, blaming himself, but he has to learn it wasn't his fault.
He DIDN'T let anyone down by failing to live up to great expectations, and there's no way he could have known that Ashfur was using him. This never happened before, he always made the choice he thought was right and tried to make up for harm done, and he's not responsible for what his abuser made him do.
I actually want to have him figure out some of this by talking to DF demons, towards the end. Cats faaaar more responsible for what they did in life than him.
Ravenwing in particular, who was also mislead by a rogue StarClan spirit, but... ultimately decided that if StarClan was right in their judgement.
He was told (by Birchface, but he still doesn't know who it was in particular) to make three kittens unsafe by revealing their parentage. His choice killed three innocent children, and lead to the Queen’s Rights.
And StarClan was furious that he'd ever believe they'd want something so CRUEL.
And even if they DID want something so cruel... "Then they wouldn't have been ancestors worth following. And that's why I believe it's right that I'm here."
As a Cleric, he had authority on their behalf. And if they would misuse it through him, he wishes he could have just given it right back.
And Shadowsight's lightbulb goes Ding!
The very last thing Ashfur does in TBC, when the jig is up and he's about to be killed by the Lights in the Mist and a bunch of Demons who have come to defend their home, is swallow a Founder-- Skystar.
He takes the level of a true god, and reaches a nearly undefeatable level of power. Instead of black water, he's so large, malicious, and has a gravitational pull so massive it starts destroying the afterlife. It shatters the purgatory (Meadow of Young Stars) into floating cosmic fragments, and Heaven and Hell are set to collide.
Shadowsight confronts Ashfur, politely explaining that he's, well... done a lot of thinking, and, he doesn't really want what he gave him. "You can, uh, have this back!"
And blasts the lightning from his scar right back at him, like a chain, holding the screeching eldrich horror in place. Every ally he's made, here in the DF, come down from StarClan, and as Lights in the Mist, jump to his side. They can't hold down Ashfur, but they can hold SHADOWSIGHT
While they're all supporting him, Bristlefrost sees the one chance to get rid of him, once and for all. A clear shot. She bolts, pounces, and SHOOTS right into Ashfur like a falling star, knocking them both off the edge of the heaven he destroyed, burning up in orbit with a monster a hundred times her size.
And after that, Shadowsight has to go home and live with this.
He gave up the very connection that made him so special, and now he has to go back to being a Cleric without StarClan.
but the other Clerics accept this. They have to. They were all complicit in the choices that allowed the Impostor to rise.
What Shadowsight learns is... everyone was part of this. From those who made the follies with him, to the supporters and rebels against the impostor, to those who helped him realize his worth, to Bristlefrost who ultimately killed Ashfur.
He is valuable because living is valuable.
Everyone, and everything, matters. All cats have a role to play, and he was never alone.
I want to close him out in BB!TBC on a tea scene that parallels the various points in his life. Others used to prepare his chamomile treatments FOR him, in careful doses, because it is a very serious medicine. Now, at the end, he's the one brewing it.
A fully fledged Cleric, who realizes he's never been alone. Cats who love him were around him the whole time, making his medicine, and they'll love him even after he's given up his powerful gift. So now he's at the stage in his life where HE can make that medicine, share his wisdom with others, and find fulfillment in the skills he's acquired over a hard life brightening.
