Tarlos @flufftober day 6 (day 5 is coming ASAP)
Alt prompt #3 Wearing each other's clothes (it's in there if you squint!)
The perfect costume (AO3) Nancy is throwing a Halloween party, TK wants the perfect outfits for him and Carlos. ---
“Hey babe where is your spare uniform?”
Carlos paused for a second, trying to make sense of the greeting, before sliding the door shut and dropping his keys on the table.
“Uhm... I'm wearing it... Why?”
TK looked at him.
“Why are you wearing your spare uniform?”
“Well sometimes when you wear your clothes, they get dirty and you need to wash them.” Carlos replied, snaking his arms around TK's waist and pulling him in for a kiss hello.
“Yes, I know that, smart ass. But didn't you just wash it over the weekend?”
“I did. And then I wore it and it got dirty and now I have to wash it again. Why are you so interested in my uniform? Are you thinking of another career change?”
“What? No. Nancy would never allow it anyway.”
“Pity. I think you'd be a good cop.”
“You just want me to be a rookie so you can boss me around.”
Carlos grinned.
“You've never complained about that before.”
“Hmm true. Very true.” TK said while unbuttoning Carlos' uniform shirt and moving his head to the side to give Carlos better access to his neck.
“You smell nice.” Carlos commented between kisses. “I love coming home to you when you've had the day off. You're all relaxed and happy to see me.”
“I'm always happy to see you. TK said, pulling his shirt free and slipping it off his shoulders.”
Carlos' hands slipped under his shirt and tried to pull it up over his head.
Only instead letting Carlos undress him or undressing himself, TK stepped out of Carlos' embrace and put his uniform shirt on.
“How do I look?”
“What?”
“How do I look?” TK asked again, doing up the buttons.
“You'd look a lot better wearing a lot less clothes.” Carlos said, trying to get TK back on the same page.
“We'll have plenty of time for that later. We need to figure this out now.”
“Figure what out?” Carlos asked, struggling to keep up with his husband's train of thought.
“My costume. For Nancy's Halloween party.”
“The Halloween party that's over three weeks away?”
“Yeah I know it's kind of short notice, that's why I thought I'd go with this to save time. What are you going as?”
“Your very confused and slightly sexually frustrated husband?”
“Babe. Come on, focus.”
Carlos sighed and resigned himself to the fact TK's mind was too busy with this costume thing to get him in the mood for any fun stuff. He sat down at the dining room table.
“Why are you so stressed about your costume? The party is three weeks away. That's plenty of time to come up with something.”
“Yeah but I want it to be good. It needs to be really good.”
“Why? It's a party thrown by our friend, not a competition.” Carlos pointed out and then narrowed his eyes at his husband. Please tell me you don’t have some kind of bet going with Nancy.”
“No, I just want to look good. Nance and Marjan have been plotting and planning for days. Which isn't fair to the rest of us because they work together so they see each other every day. I think they're going with some kind of couple's costume.” TK complained but then his eyes lit up. "We could do a couples costume too! I can arrest you and put you in handcuffs! You have a set of handcuffs at home don’t you?” he grabbed Carlos’ work bag and started digging through it.
“And have everyone make fun of me the entire time we're there? I don't think so.”
“What do you want to go as then?”
“I don't know. Maybe I'll just put on my yoga clothes and go as yoga instructor or something.” Carlos shrugged.
“You cannot go to a party in yoga clothes.” TK dropped the bag and walked over to the table. “I won't be able to keep my hands off of you.”
“You say that like it's a bad thing.” Carlos grinned and pulled TK into his lap. “I happen to like your hands all over me.” He angled his face up as a silent request for a kiss. TK rolled his eyes fondly before giving in.
“You know I like having my hands all over you too.” He continued when they broke the kiss. “But we can’t do that at a party with our friends.”
“Good thing we’re at home then. With no plans for the next 24 hours.”
Carlos started undoing the buttons on his uniform shirt that TK was wearing and pushed it off his shoulders before dropping it somewhere on the floor, and moving on to TK’s own shirt.
“Babe… we can’t leave these costumes until the last minute.” TK said, trying very hard to not let himself get lost in Carlos’ kisses and touches.
“We have three weeks. We’ll think of something.” Carlos insisted, yanking TK’s shirt over his head and giving him a triumphant grin. “Right now, there are other things I think we should focus on.” He said and started kissing TK’s bare chest.
“You’re impossible.” TK said but moved so he was straddling Carlos’ lap and pulled him into a heated kiss.
“Yeah, yeah.” Carlos said between kisses and stood up and hoisted TK up on the table. “You love it.”
Later, after they’d made it to bed for more comfort, they lay wrapped up in each other while coming down from their high.
“You know.” TK started while absent mindedly drawing shapes on Carlos’ bare skin with his fingers. “My old turnout gear is still at the station. You would fit that. We could do a red vs blue thing.”
“Are you actually kidding me? Are you still thinking about that Halloween party?” Carlos pushed himself up on his elbows and gave his husband an exasperated look. “And here was me thinking you were enjoying things as much as I was.”
“I was! Am! My mind just kind of… wandered just now.”
“Right. That’s what everyone wants to hear after sex.”
“At least it wasn’t during.” TK teased but the look on Carlos’ face told him that had been the wrong thing to say. “No baby, no, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. I just… I want us to look nice for the party.”
“The fact that you’re thinking about that now really isn’t doing anything for my ego, you know.” Carlos muttered, dropping back onto the mattress. “I think I’ll just cut two holes in a sheet and be done with it.”
Over the next few days, TK had decided on Carlos’ spare uniform as his outfit for the party, but Carlos himself had yet to pick something and it was driving TK mad.
“How about you also go as a cop? We’ll be a duo.”
“I’m not wearing my uniform to a party. It’ll be like I’m going to work.”
“You don’t like anything else I suggest. If you leave it too long there won’t be anything left in stores.”
“Maybe I’ll just wear something of yours. I’ll go as husband who is obsessed with finding the perfect costume for a Halloween party.” Carlos teased and pressed a kiss to TK’s lips before grabbing his work bag and heading out the door with an “I love you, see you at lunch” thrown over his shoulder.
As the days passed and the party kept getting closer, TK’s frustration with his husband continued to grow.
Carlos insisted he’d found a costume for Nancy’s party but refused to tell him what.
“You’ll see at the party.” He’d just said with that mischievous smile on his face TK loved so much.
He’d tried everything from sex, to cooking his favourite food (with help and encouragement from Andrea), to asking his sisters in law for tips on how to make Carlos talk.
Unfortunately nothing worked and up until the day of the party he didn’t have a clue what Carlos’ costume was going to be.
“I don’t understand why he won’t just tell me.” TK complained, adjusting his duty belt, wondering how Carlos could wear it all day and still move. He’d worn most of Carlos’ actual gear on the belt and it was heavy and bulky and uncomfortable.
“Maybe because you’ve been going crazy over it?” Marjan suggested. She was dressed in a long black dress as Morticia Addams, while Nancy wore a pinstripe suit and a fake moustache as Gomez. They looked great together and it made TK more annoyed with his husband’s secrecy.
That and the fact he wasn’t there because he had to cover a shift for one of his colleagues and had promised him to meet him at Nancy’s place the moment he was done.
“You’ll find out soon enough, he just texted me that he’s on his way.” Nancy told him and handed him a drink.
“Why is my husband texting you and not me?”
“I don’t know.” Nancy shrugged. “Probably because he didn’t want to be interrogated about his costume.”
About fifteen minutes later the bell rang and Nancy went to open the door.
“Oh my god dude you look amazing! TK is going to lose his mind!” TK heard her say followed by the unmistakable sound of his husband’s laugh.
“Let’s hope so. It’s taken a lot of planning.”
TK got up to take a look and could barely believe his eyes when Carlos walked into the room.
He was wearing a full luchador costume, looking like he’d just stepped out of the ring. Brightly coloured boots laced up to his mid calves, leggings TK recognised as the ones he used for yoga, but with flames painted on the sides, knee pads, a pair of shorts with the Mexican flag on one of the legs, glitter on his chest, a cape around his neck, and a mask that covered the top half of his face.
“How do I look, officer Reyes?” Carlos asked innocently.
“Oh my god.” TK muttered, shamelessly checking his husband out.
“You approve? Lexi and Luisa helped me put it all together and get ready. There is glitter all over the place back home now though.”
“I really don’t care.” TK said, pulling him close and keeping him in place with one hand on the string of the cape around his neck, and the other on the back of his mask and kissing him in a way that wasn’t entirely suitable for the situation. “We’re going home early.”

I missed nice ask day because my brain was string cheese, BUT I'm going to ask you now: Aside from some well-fitting uniforms, what are your favorite LS outfits? Which outfits, whenever you see them, just make you go 'damn they look good' or 'I want to wear that'?
Hi Orchid!
This is a fun question!
First outfit that comes to mind is Tommy in that red dress. I loved the story arc and the nod to Nathaniel Hawthorne while being so true to character. It's like we got a little taste of Jessica Pearson back.
Tumblr media
I'm also a fan of what Grace tends to wear; and that might be because they're a little more tailored to my style. There's an outfit where she's wearing high waisted jeans and I feel very seen. @guardian-angle22's every grace outfit series has brought me immense joy.

This is cheating because it's Natacha and not Marjan (who's outfits I do adore) but I love seeing what Natacha wears outside of her characters

How often do you think wardrobe and makeup have to sit down and negotiate about how often they can show rafa's (and other actors) arm muscles? I feel like makeup spends a lot of time every shoot covering tattoos on the whole cast (like I think Julian has a neck/ear tattoo that literally can't be covered by clothing) so they definitely put long sleeves on people in warm weather to not have to cover tattoos (it's Texas the long sleeves don't make sense for any other reason imo) But also the fans (and apparently wardrobe too if this season has been anything to go by) want to see all the Muscular Hot First Responders in Less Clothes so I feel like there's some admin person doing complicated math about how much salary/paid time they have for which department and who needs to wear sleeves to save money lol
This is attempt two, dear nonny, because I had a beautiful answer that got deleted, BUT, I'm certain there's a decent amount of conversation that goes into budgeting for a variety of makeup, especially airbrushing out tattoos.
Now, clearly the technology and the budgets have improved quite a long way from where they used to be. I mean, there was a time when it was easier to cover a tattoo with an alternate tattoo rather than cover it with foundation or clothing. There's definitely a conversation around how much makeup they can budget in a year and what they're using it for. There's the little stuff like the arms, but then they had to do Ronen's chest piece and his booty for ice storm, and Julian's whole chest piece (i can't see it in most of his photos, looks like it's just in his stories on insta when he's shirtless.
I will say, on the long-sleeves business, once people are used to the Texas weather they will wear long sleeves, especially through the winter months. My in-laws will wear an actual coat and turn on the heat in the car at anything under 70. So Marjan, Mateo, Judd, Grace, Tommy and Carlos who have been living in Texas or in Marjan's case Miami which is subtropical, would definitely be in long sleeves during the Winter/Spring months. Our northern compatriots could have adjusted by season 3? *shrugs* But it definitely helps.
I've particularly loved the outfits that should have burned up in a fire coming back this season. Likely, there wasn't enough money in the budget to entirely reinvent Ronen and Rafa's wardrobes so that none of their clothes looked the same. A solid amount of money probably went into new/revamped sets this season with the redo of the firehouse, the Tarloft (a magical set), Mateo's bedroom and Paul's apartment.
And that's the thing, the show is a business. Lone Star has a pretty high budget considering the scale they operate on with the ability to flip and blow up cars and create an ice palace that collapses (will never be over Judd watching Frozen for Charlie). Many of the cast have reported that it's sometimes closer to working on a movie set than on a TV show. And they can get that large budget due to being the #2 scripted show on the network (#1 when OG is on hiatus and LS is on), which leads to advertising slots during their timeslot to be more expensive and they're able to pull more money in through the network. Which is, of course, rewarded with more money into the budget. But that money is not infiniate and I'm confident Tim spends all of it.

Tarlos ficlet - “You Like My Costume?”
For all y'all firefighter!Carlos babes :)
@howtosingit @pragmaticoptimist34 and anyone else who likes this kind of thing <3
1.6k | ao3
TK is actually kind of bummed to be working on Halloween.
Sure, it’s not like he has to work Thanksgiving this year--he somehow finagled the day off and he has yet to tell Carlos that he will be making a surprise visit to the ranch for dinner and he absolutely can’t wait to see his fiancé’s face when he walks in--but he was kind of looking forward to doing the cutesy couple’s costume thing. He’s a sucker for that kind of thing, and he’s bummed, okay?
They’re out on a call that’s frankly more of a time waster than anything else since the fourteen year old in question wasn’t actually suffering from alcohol poisoning but rather he’d yarfed because his friends had dared him to drink a teaspoon of dish soap--honestly, kids these days--so things are looking pretty mellow so far for the evening. He half expected full-moon level type calls tonight but in all honesty he’s been kind of bored. Which really makes it doubly crappy to be working. There’s not even any excitement.
“At least we’re off at 11, you’ll get to see the last of the trick-or-treaters,” Nancy says with a smirk.
“Who trick-or-treats at 11 p.m.?” he asks. “By then it’ll just be the dumb teenagers TP-ing old people’s houses and that’s if anyone actually does that anymore.”
“What, you’re too old and married for those kinds of shenanigans?”
“Screw you, I’m not old, and I’m not married yet,” he quips back at her.
“Mmmhmm. Coulda fooled me.” She’s smiling her mischievous smile, the one she gets when she’s contemplating how to jump-scare him in the bunk room in the middle of the night because one time he yelped in such a high-pitch that she nearly peed herself laughing, and she’s been trying to recreate it ever since.
“Hey, the thrill is not gone, I can promise you that.” Now it’s his turn to smirk back at her.
“Ugh ugh, okay, don’t wanna hear about it.” She waves her hands in front of her face like she’s shooing away fog. “And TK? I mean that. Whatever it is you’re going to be doing tonight, I never wanna hear about it, okay? Just...please. Keep it in the bedroom. Everyone’s going to be making enough assumptions as it is.”
He turns to look at her from the driver’s seat, puzzled. “What do you mean, tonight? What’s so special about tonight and why are people making assumptions? Carlos had to work until half an hour ago anyway, so we’re probably both going to just pass out when I get home. Also, what do you mean ‘assumptions’?”
She just smiles at him again. “Just drive, Strand.”
When he pulls the rig into the bay at ten minutes past eleven, TK just wants to shower and collapse. Boredom held out for only so long before giving into three separate calls where the patient coded on the backboard. He’s tired, he’s hungry, and he feels like he will never be clean of all the sweat. His fingers are aching and his shoulders are sore. He’s never been more ready to just slip into their sheets at home and pass into blissful oblivion. He can’t even make himself look up from the floor as he walks toward the locker room.
“Hey TK! Why don’t you say hi to the new probie?” Mateo’s voice is nearly a giggle, and it actually causes TK to lift his head. With great effort.
“Huh? We have a new probie? Whose first shift is on Halloween? Who did he piss off to manage that?” TK asks, following Mateo through the kitchen.
It’s Paul who answers from where he’s leaning against the archway leading back into the bay where the ladder truck is parked. “No one. You might be a little peeved that he took your old turnout gear, but I really, really doubt that.”
“What?” Now TK is just thoroughly confused.
“Yeah,” Marjan says when he rounds the corner, “and it doesn’t fit him all that well, but I also highly doubt you’ll be upset about that either.” She’s practically glowing with mirth.
“Okaaaay...what’s with everyone? Is this some kind of Halloween prank? Is someone going to jump out and scare me?”
“Trust me, it won’t scare you. Just...don’t scar the rest of us once you see it. Behave yourself until you get home,” is Nancy’s last line before she turns and practically runs up the stairs.
TK darts his gaze around to the rest of them, brow furrowing.
“Just go, man. We’ve been keeping this from you for like a week and we want to see the fruits of our labor,” Mateo says, shoving at TK’s shoulder so that he walks toward the ladder truck.
Still confused and slightly nervous, TK rounds the back of the truck and looks around to see what it is they’ve conjured up to prank him with. He scans the floor, wondering if someone in a scary mask will slide out from under the truck. He moves around to the other side while still in the team’s line of sight, looking back at them for some kind of indication that he’s on the right track. Marjan points subtly up and he follows with his gaze.
His mouth goes instantly dry and his breath stops. He might gasp, but he can’t be sure.
“Hi babe. Happy Halloween,” Carlos croons in a low voice, though he’s blushing slightly which removes some of the effect.
TK can only stare. His old turnout gear, indeed.
His fiancé his perched on top of the truck, casually leaned against the ladder and looking down on him. His hips, clad in baggy pants only held up by bright suspenders are slipped forward just so, inviting TK’s eyes to travel up the long line of his glorious body. The AFD t-shirt is straining at the seams, defining every muscle in his abs and pecs, the suspenders caressing against the hard planes of his chest, peeking out from the turnout coat hanging open.
When Carlos notices where TK’s eyes have gone, he lifts himself out of his ridiculously sexy lean to stand and shrug out of the coat. How on earth anyone can make the removing of standard-issue PPE look so goddamned alluring, TK will never know. The movement causes Carlos’ shoulders to flex, and the cotton of the t-shirt nearly gives out. TK catches a peek of his own name in bright orange lettering across the back of the coat before it’s casually flipped over one massive shoulder, clinging to one finger.
“I...holy shit,” is all he can say. He has been robbed of his entire vocabulary. He can hear his team snickering at him from the kitchen, but he pays them no mind. The view from here is much better.
Carlos blushes a bit more, and tosses the coat down to TK, who catches it dazedly. Then, he watches as his absolutely gorgeous fiancé nimbly climbs down the footholds on the side of the truck like he’s done it a thousand times before, and between drooling and sucking in subtle breaths of air TK’s eyes are drawn directly to his ass. It’s a marvelous sight.
Dropping down lightly onto the floor with a tiny bounce in his step, Carlos turns to face TK in all his glory. TK’s gaze once again runs the gambit from his shoulders down his torso, right down to his own spare pair of boots.
Carlos saunters closer, knowing full well what he’s doing and loving every minute of it, the bastard. “So, babe,” he says in that same low voice, closer this time. “You like my costume?”
TK still can’t really form words. He might stutter a bit, but he’ll deny it later.
Carlos leans in close--presumably to deter their audience from hearing his next words, which are whispered directly into TK’s ear.
“I chose to dress up as your secret fantasy,” he says, his lips caressing the shell of TK’s ear. He shivers, though from the words or the touch or the outfit or all of the above, TK can’t say. The next words he hears don’t help matters much.
“What do you say I rescue you from work? Take you home and give you some mouth-to-mouth?”
TK can hear the desire behind the words, but he can also hear the tiniest giggle at the blatant dirty talk that Carlos actually doesn’t do that much of, and it makes his heart melt. This man is everything.
When he regains some coherency, TK decides to give back as much as he’s gotten. He runs his hands down Carlos’ torso, nearly dropping one suspender completely off his shoulder with his vigor in grabbing a handful of pectoral muscle.
He leans back in and says into Carlos’ ear, “Well, have you still got your uniform in your car? It might be a bit big on me, but I think I’d look good in nothing but your utility belt. Should I handcuff you to the bed, firefighter Reyes?”
He leans back just enough to catch Carlos scrunching his eyes shut and biting his lip--desire written into every line of his face--and suddenly remembers their audience. This is not a free show, no matter how much help they provided Carlos in surprising TK with this. “Take me home, now.”
“You got it, babe.” With that, Carlos bends down, grabs TK by the waist, and lifts him like he weighs nothing. TK is thrown over his shoulder in a full fireman’s carry to the tune of his team, his friends, whistling and catcalling as he’s carried off to Carlos’ car.
Yeah, this is a good Halloween. Maybe the best one yet.

What did you think about the new lone star episode? I like reading your opinions because I always agree with them lol
Oh my god babe im so glad you asked because I probably would have told you anyway
SO there was a lot,,, like a lot of thoughts that I had to write them all down and the Owen thoughts will be at the end, because I know thats what you’re here for
- CAPTAIN JUDD
- Marjan being ✨pretty✨
- “Husband? You guys are babies.”
- Its the Tarlos Teasing for me, and the way TK pushes Carlos away I’m- these boys are so soft
- Paul called them Tarlos I’m-
- Someone give Marjan a hug please, I want to give her a hug
- I have a lot of experience painting rooms myself instead of professionally and like,,, Owen literally taped EVERYTHING it was so unnecessary anyway-
- “What the hell are you doin here?” Go off Judd I’m begging you
- also the way Marjan looked at Owen when he’s spouting off orders at them cause she knows thats not his job at the moment and he should just not
- “Ride or Die bitches” queens supporting queens
- The Sun and Salt reopening!!
- There’s a major lack of my favorite Bernese Mountain Dog
- Marjans outfits are iconic as always
- The way she’s starting to breakdown but still manages to save her life and do her job despite the fact that she has every right to be mad at the girl but she’s not because thats just Marjan
- Carlos’s lil wink when TK goes “Crisis Averted!!”
Now for my Owen (Derogatory) thoughts
If you don’t agree with this that’s fine, I don’t expect everyone to, so just keep scrolling my love thanks
- So Gabriel talking about the arsonist’s profile (narcissistic, who thinks he’s so much smarter etc etc) and how perfectly it fits owen i just- More on that later
- Owen could at least pretend to have a poker face, like TK didnt have to get him anything but he did because he knows how difficult being away from work will be for him. Because TK (unlike others) pays attention
- Owen to Billy: I can’t imagine [listening to the scanner app thing] is very good for your mental health.
Me: dont you even start Mr. Tequila Time
- Owen and his stupid hero complex
- Owen Just casually making bombs and starting fires in his backyard exactly the way the arsonist started them just to prove a point
- Imagine being an ass to someone who’s not willing to break the law because he needs to keep his benefits because- ya know- he’s sick
- The way Owen said “I just need to make a stop” or run an Errand or whatever like he’s just running to the supermarket instead of breaking multiple laws and is only building the case against himself
- This might be really bad to say but like,,, if he isn’t at least convicted with the breaking and entering i might lose my mind
Owen literally said “here’s the physical description of the arsonist” and then described himself. AND THEN WENT “Here’s a mental profile of the most arsonists” and then described himself AGAIN. THEN he went out and bought bomb making materials and thought “well I’ll show them exactly how the arsonist set off the incendiary and then i’ll break more laws to prove it again. And they’ll celebrate me because I figured it out” and he’s probably right but like And then he was arrested and i smiled cause he’s a dumbass. There’s literally means (all the stuff he bought, the fact that he knew exactly how it works and how to set it off and and and), opportunity (he’s basically jobless for the next three weeks so), motive (mmm, he’s a bored sociopath?).
anyway that was a lot and im sorry but im so glad you enjoy hearing my thoughts about this because I have a lot of them and i like to talk about them

Livi podcast
The guests of the podcasts are Dominik Livaković and Marjan Mrmić(who is goalie coach)
Translation under the cut
Tumblr media
Host: Tell me a bit about your season in Dinamo. It was one of, if not the best season ever in Dinamo. What would you say, what happened? How did you guys become so good?
Livi: I guess there are more quality players now. And we worked well together and..yeah. I guess something just clicked
Marjan: He is being humble. Dominik had an excellent season and he knew how to stay calm in stressful situations and that calmed the rest of the team
Livi: *looks at the floor*
Host: was losing against Ferencvaros the turning point? What made you all be that much better after?
Livi: well I suppose it was important. I mean, I think I could almost say it was a good thing we lost so early on, considering the rest of the season
Host: I am not sure director of finances in dinamo agrees
Livi, laughing: well no, probably not but I think we brought it enough money later on
Host: you defended a penalty against Cluj. Well two actually. Was that harder to do or was watching Suba defending penalties during WC?
Livi: oh wow *laughs * that's-I mean you can't compare those two things. Completely different feelings. But I suppose there wasn't that much pressure put on me during those penalities because I didn't know they would be the last. But Suba is probably one of the best goalies Croatia ever had, if not the best. So I really don't think that's comparable
Host: Alright, first card break. You need to choose between two things
Marjan: Nutmerg or dribble?
Livi: what?
Host: *repeats it *
Livi: *loading * oh! Nutmeg. *laughs * especially when it's Vida
Host: did that happen?
Domo: *yelling from the background * (I think he said "he didn't say that!" But it's not clear) *
Livi: *laughs * Anyway, next question
 Marjan: Meat or fish?
Livi: Hmm. Meat
 Marjan: Pizza or hamburger?
Livi: Pizza. Especially after a winning game
Host: how did you start with your goalie career? Since most guys want to score a goal
Livi: well, I can't quite remember. I was attacker one day and goalie the next. I like the way goalies threw themselves to catch a ball I guess
Host: are all goalies this calm? Or are you and Marjan exceptions?
Livi: I mean, there are some goalies that are crazy *laughs, shakes his head * but I am more of a calm type. Works better for me. Although there is that saying 'you are a goalie? You must be crazy' so you know
Host: Second card break. It's who in the national team...?
Marjan: who takes the longest to get read in the nt?
Livi: oh, Vida
Marjan: Who runs the fastest?
Livi: Vida
Host: Vida, again?
Livi: *shrugs, laughing *
Livi: who has the most precise shoot?
Marjan: right now? Oršić
Host: Livi, would you agree as his teammate?
Livi: well yes, of course he is very good. But Vida is also very good, especially recently, he scored a lot
Marjan: who has the best hairstyle?
Livi: * laughs, covers his mouth*
Host: yeah, you can use Vida again here
Livi: yeah, yeah... Vida has the best hair
Livi: who has the best sense of humor?
Marjan: Vida
*all laugh, Domo yelling again from the background *
Host: so your first, well second game, against England, what do you remember from it? Were you nervous?
Livi: yes, of course. When I read the list of names of their players...I certainly felt nervous. It has been...what? 5 years since then?
Host: 3, 4 years actually. Autumn in 2018?
Livi: Really?
Host: who are players who you find most fun? The ones whose company you liked the most during WC?
*Livi, looking at Vida and laughing *
Host: EXCEPT for Vida
Livi: Then, there were also Šime, Dejan and Broz
Host: except for not missing being on a bench, do you miss Suba in nt?
Livi, smiling: yes, I miss him. I miss him a lot. We have been on a coffee the other day, actually
Host: what would you say, how did you improve as a goalie? But please don't give me a generic answer like, experience
Livi: experience *laughs * I am kidding, I am kidding. But I have been working on playing with my foot a lot. That's what I concentrate on the most and I think I improved. Other goalie stuff well...you learn in every training
Host: okay, new set of cards, but with one new rule. Who would you choose from nt but WITHOUT Domagoj Vida
Marjan: who would you choose as a singer in a band
Livi, laughing: who else am I supposed to choose? Who else?
Host: alright, alright. I'll give you that one
Marjan: who would you let babysit your kid for a few hours?
*Livi, laughing*
Host: no. No you can't
Livi: hmmm. Then I suppose either Kale or Vrsaljko. They have a lot of experience
Livi: who would you let choose your outfit
Marjan: hmmm. Dominik
Marjan: who would you choose as a co-driver on rallying?
Livi: oh, Šime for sure. When he presses accelator...he doesn't stop
Host: so tell me, do you plan to stay in Dinamo forever? Or did you have some plans for future clubs?
Livi: I don't think much ahead. Everytime I do, it doesn't exactly end up that way. We'll see. I feel good in Dinamo right now. We have amazing results and I feel like home. Zadar is close, too
Host: Well then. Don't forget about out deal. If you sign up for Barcelona you have to go to every nt conference for the rest of your career
Livi: *laughs awkardly *
Host: I hope it still counts. I mean Ter Stengen isn't bad but I am holding onto your word about that
Livi: alright
Host: Let's ask something more private. We know you are in a relationship and by recent covid regulations we are allowed to have bigger weddings again so...I am kidding, but in all seriousness did you think about starting a family?
Livi: well yes, of course I have. I mean, all the people I know that have children think of them as biggest blessing. I do want that, at some point
 Host: pets?
Livi, smiling again: yes, Cruz
Host: what breed is he?
Livi: pomsky. Do I really need to explain?
Host: ...a bit
Livi: * explains *He is wonderful. I mean he is mine, but...he is really wonderful. He makes you so happy, especially when you come home after being away...it's amazing
Host: Helena used to do ice skating and according to Vida, you are the best dancer on the team. That means your first dance will be amazing
Livi: *laughs * I am not so sure about that. I think I'll need to practice a lot, even more than I did to learn how to defend a goal. But we'll see how that'll go. And I have to say that Vida lied. But maybe he is the best. He dances...really good
Host: he has a good sense for rhythm?
Livi: he rips shirts a lot
 Host: New card break. Favorites
Marjan, reading a question from the card: what's your favorite childhood moment?
Host: the one that isn't connected to football
Livi: not connected to fooball. Uff. I am not sure I remember. Hmmm
Host: that far away huh?
Livi: *laughs * yeah. I guess coming back from school and everything being alright(I am guessing he means grades wise)
Host: that moments were so rare huh?
 Marjan: Favorite series?
Livi: Game of Thrones
Host: what's your hobbies, except for series? What so you do when you don't play football
Livi: well, I actually like to play basketball. I am from Zadar, after all. I started with basketball first actually, before switching to football
Host: okay, I gotta ask. Why do goalies spit in their gloves?
Livi: well so the ball sticks to them better. So it doesn't fall out of our hands *rubs palms together * so they are...wet. *realizes what he said * but yeah uh. Mostly so you don't drop the ball
Host: do you prefer long or short sleeved jersey? And how do you choose that?
Livi: I like long sleeved one better
Host: except when it's really hot?
Livi: yeah...when it's really hot I choose short sleeved undershit
Host: Anyway, you guys told me not to make this too long considering there is a final of Europe league that you want to watch. Any preferences about who wins?
Livi: No, I think both teams are great. They have different qualities so, we'll see
Marjan: I think Manchester United will win. Longer tradition
Host: Either way, thank you guys for participating in today's podcast. And to everyoone who is watching, I hope you'll watch us tomorrow as well. Goodbye

TK/Carlos: Fire Drills, Flirting, and First Dates
Apparently TK can't wait a few hours for his and Carlos' first date, since it's the 126 pulling up to supervise the school fire drill.
This is the second part of the Found Forever on a Field Trip 9-1-1 Lone Star AU verse, where Carlo is a preschool teacher and TK is a firefighter, and they first met when Carlos brought his students on a fire safety field trip to where TK volunteers.
I would definitely recommend reading the first part of the series (which you can find here ) before this one for some background.
This story takes place just a few days after their first meeting, way before the time jump in the first story.
CW for mention of TK's canon storyline of addiction and his overdose towards the end of the story.
You can also read this on Ao3 here! And if you have any stories you would like to see in this verse, please let me know, I would love to keep writing for it!
Carlos had one child on his hip, crying into his shirt ever since the fire alarm had rung out its ear-piercing trill. Another child was clutching his free hand, sniffing back tears. "It's all okay, I promise," Carlos assured them gently as he led them and their classmates into a straight line against the fence. "Remember, we talked about how this is a drill? It's practice just in case we ever need to get out of the school quickly. But there's no real fire right now."
"Just real firefighters," a familar voice called out from Carlos' right, and he turned, unable to stop himself from grinning as TK strode towards them from the fire truck, a grin also dancing across his lips. When he saw the two crying children though, he quickly crouched in front of them, Carlos gently lowering the other child to stand in front of TK.
"Firefighter Strand!" Both children yelled excitedly, tears drying up as they cheered, drawing the attention of their classmates, who immediately started rushing over.
"Back in line please friends!" Carlos called out, quickly walking alone the line of students. "I know we're all very excited to see Firefighter Strand, but we have to stay in our safe spot."
"Hmm, does that mean you're excited to see me too?" TK's voice was low in Carlos' ear, the blush spreading across Carlos' cheeks as TK flashed him a playful smirk before making his way down the line of children, stopping to say hi to every single one.
"Couldn't wait until after work, huh?" Carlos teased back as he passed behind TK, highly pleased to see red spreading up the back of the firefighter's neck.
"We're doing community outreach here, I don't know what else you could possibly be referring to," TK grinned, leaning back against the fence, the nearest child finding a way to wrap around TK's leg without moving from their space in line.
"You aren't fooling anyone, Strand!" Marjan called out as she came around the back of the truck to the cheers of "Firefighter Marwani!". Squeezing Carlos' shoulder as she passed, she leaned in to whisper just loud enough for TK to hear her too, "It's all he's been talking about since shift started. He even made us help him choose his outfit-he seriously brought every option to the station."
"Traitor!" TK mouthed at Marjan, ducking his head and smiling shyly, cheeks now flushing pink. "I just don't want to be late for our first date, or show up looking like this." He gestured up and down his firefighter uniform.
"You can feel free to show up in that anytime," Carlos murmured in TK's ear, right before he reached a hand out to bat away a stick one child had just thrown at another. "Zoe, we don't throw sticks, okay friend?" The little girl nodded.
"Eyes in the back of your head," TK murmured appreciatively, as Marjan made her way to the last of the very excited children. Noticing the students were still occupied, TK leaned in, his voice so low only Carlos could hear. "Can't wait to see what else you can do with those hands."
Laughing, TK made his way back to the truck, leaving a sputtering bright red Carlos behind him. "Bye kids!" TK called out. "Bye Mr. Reyes!" WIth a wink, TK climbed inside the truck, Marjan shaking her head as she followed behind him.
Carlos was five minutes early to the cafe, but TK had somehow beat him there, and was sitting on the edge of a chair near the front door, fingers drumming against the table. When he saw Carlos, his face lit up, and he stood up from the chair, meeting him at the door for a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"You picked a very nice outfit," Carlos confirmed, gaze sweeping appreciatively up and down TK's short sleeved patterned button down and dark wash jeans. "Remind me to thank your team."
"It was worth all the teasing from them, then," TK grinned, sliding his pinky under the edge of the sleeve of Carlos' dark green polo, giving the fabric a gentle tug. "There's no way your students helped you pick this out or it would be sequined and covered in superheroes."
"Very accurate," Carlos laughed, nodding his head. "No, my co worker Grace helped me out. She has a good fashion sense."
"She really does," TK agreed, eyes twinkling. "Definitely thank her for me." They turned towards the table, and Carlos reached for TK's chair, pulling it out enough for him to sit down before carefully pushing it back in.
"Wow, thank you," TK said softly, and Carlos could easily pick up on the awe tinging his voice. "No one's ever done that for me before."
"Well, I also hold open doors, so get ready for that," Carlos teased gently, settling into his chair. His gaze fell on the large mug in front of him, the smell of expresso and cinammon wafting into the air. "You remembered my coffee order?"
"Large coffee, extra shot of expresso, add cinammon," TK recited, a shy smile crossing his lips. "It's what you had when we first met."
"And you have the same?" Carlos grinned, pointing to TK's cup.
"I figured teachers must be experts with all the coffee you guys must consume," TK laughed, taking a sip. "And I was right, because this is delicious."
"How was the rest of your shift?" Carlos asked, cradling the warm mug in his hands and inhaling the steam before taking his own sip.
"Seeing you was definitely the highlight," TK answered with a smile, "and not just because the rest of the shift entailed a microwave fire where someone had been trying to reheat fish, and three separate cats needing to be rescued from three separate trees."
"Oof," Carlos pretended to shudder, drawing a laugh from TK. "I'll see you your reheated fish fire and cats, and raise you a child sticking play dough up their nose and an entire bottle of glitter spilling all over the rug."
"That explains this then," TK reached out with his hand, gently wiping away a piece of glitter on Carlos' chin. Carlos found himself leaning into the touch, and TK let his finger linger longer than was necessary. Taking a deep breath in, TK moved his hand away, showing Carlos the sparkle on his fingertip. "And here I thought you went to a disco without me."
"More like a rave," Carlos teased. "Do people still even go to raves anymore? Glow sticks and lots of party drugs?" But the smile quickly fell from his face as he saw the light dim from TK's eyes. "Did I say something wrong? I'm so sorry-"
"Carlos, it's okay," TK said softly, reaching out and laying his hand on Carlos' arm.
"First date and I've already managed to hurt you somehow," Carlos mumbled, his gaze on a small scratch in the corner of their table.
"You didn't, I promise," TK insisted, running his thumb along Carlos' wrist until he raised his eyes from the table to meet TK's warm gaze. "Do you want to go for a walk?"
"Sure," Carlos responded, voice still quiet as he walked to the front of the shop and retrieved two to-go cups with lids. Handing one to TK, he quickly transferred his coffee, then moved to hold the door for TK.
"Thanks," TK smiled at Carlos as he exited the cafe, but Carlos didn't smile back. Instead, Carlos stopped on the sidewalk outside the entrance, his fingers rubbing nervously on the side of his pants leg. "Carlos," TK said warmly, reaching over and taking Carlos' hand in his free one. "I meant what I said. We're okay."
This time it was TK who suddenly couldn't meet Carlos' eyes. "At least I hope we are," TK voiced softly, looking up hopefully when Carlos squeezed his hand. "I come with...baggage."
"You aren't the only one, I promise," Carlos affirmed gently, swinging their interlaced hands slightly as they began to walk. "Clearly I do too, considering I was so ready to believe you were already breaking up with me before we finished our first date."
"You definitely don't need to worry about that," TK assured him, squeezing Carlos' hand reassuringly, before dropping his eyes to the sidewalk and the volume of his voice to just above a whisper. "So no one here knows this yet, except for my dad, but I really like you, and you deserve to know all the facts before you decide if you want this to go any further."
"TK, I really like you too," Carlos vowed, placing his coffee cup on the ground, cupping TK's cheek with his now-free hand. "You're safe with me, I promise."
Leaning into Carlos' touch, TK sighed, shutting his eyes. "I'm an addict," he confessed, words whispered into the palm of Carlos' hand. "Oxycontin. I OD'd back in New York, if my dad hadn't found me, I wouldn't be here. I haven't taken since then, I go to meetings, I have coping strategies, but I'm always going to be an addict."
TK squeezed his eyes shut even tighter, as if bracing for a hard-hitting emotional blow, but instead he felt the soft brush of Carlos' lips against his cheek. "Thank you for being so open with me," Carlos murmured against TK's skin, wrapping him up in a tight hug. TK sunk into the embrace with a grateful sigh, nestling his head into the crook of Carlos' shoulder. "I'm not going anywhere, okay?"
"Good," TK breathed out, relief and hope tinging every word. "Because I want you to stay."

Fic: Winter
4 tattoos on TK’s body, 4 stories set over each of the 4 season. Carlos and TK grow closer.
Read part one and two or the whole thing on my ao3 .
---------- When Carlos was younger he used to love Christmas, loved the lights, the food, the music and spending time with his family. He still likes all that but ever since becoming a police officer and seeing how absolutely crackers everyone gets over Christmas he has reassessed that notion thoroughly and decided that he only enjoys Christmas when he can completely shut off the outside world and escape the insane nonsens, then, yes Christmas is lovely. Having been single for the majority of his time on the force always makes him the first pick for working on the 25th, and this year is no different. So, he sees TK on the 24th before Gwyenth flies in and it’s sweet and fun but he feels TK might want to spend it alone with him next year, the seriousness of their relationship starting to require that they create some traditions of their own, and the 25th on a full 24 hour shift and then the 26th he goes home to his parents.
New Years comes along, it’s calm for him, he’s working the next day and he drinks sparkling water and coke for the whole evening they spend at Grace and Judd with the 126, Carlos has become an unofficial member of. He’s grown close with them all since starting dating TK and it’s not unusual for him to get his own invitation to stuff, sometimes even without TK. Mateo sends him texts asking dating advice, Paul will ask questions about cooking and recipes and he and Marjan have taken up playing padel together. So he’s definitely part of the group for sure and it’s lovely being surrounded by people who know each other so well that there are almost more alcohol free options than there are actual alcohol, food from all sorts of different countries and traditions and a warm atmosphere around as they watch the fireworks together out on the deck, celebrating the coming of a new year.
He drives TK home to Owen pretty early and TK gives him sad puppy dog eyes before he drags him into the back of the car for some light fooling around and very heated kissing that would definitely not have been approved of at Judd and Grace’s party before he regretfully has to leave if he wants to be able to work at all come morning. The choice of staying over is so tempting but Carlos knows he would struggle too much the next day when he would be forced to leave a very hot and cute and snuggly boyfriend while he has to work. So he kisses the love of his life passionately on the street, so much so that he looks completely dazed and confused when Carlos pulls away and tells him he loves him and that he promises to make it up to him the next time they are off together and TK, with his stern face on, makes him promise that he will.
But Carlos has been working a lot this winter, he knows, it's a habit, leftover from a long time of being single that he’s had a hard time shaking. He doesn’t like winter, it’s the only time of the year he’s usually always felt lonely, with all the holidays coming up being forced into social gatherings where questions are always asked whether he’s single or not and it used to grate endlessly on his nerves. And if he’s sometimes taken shifts on the days after or on the actual days to avoid the questions, well no one has to know.
Only this year he’s been so distracted that he’s forgotten he’s already accepted all these shifts almost a year before, before he was officially together with TK the way they are now, and the unfortunate result of this is that they have have become completely unmatched in their schedules which makes TK look more and more sad every time he has to leave him to go to work. It’s making Carlos’ sad too but because he’s worked so much recently, he’s made sure to switch his shifts around with a colleague so he’ll get three days off in a row, matching them all up with TK’s, and that’s what he thinks about every time he feels guilty about it.
But growing close with TK’s friends also means that he gets 15 texts in a row from Mateo, and five calls that have him promising to come to his party the Friday after the new year, because that’s his life now. And of course he’s late, because nothing ever goes his way and he’s barely had the time to change and shower when at home, basically just throwing on black jeans and a white t-shirt hoping that it will do and that he won’t be completely underdressed for the occasion. It turns out that isn’t the actual issue.
The issue is that apparently TK has had the time to choose clothes that make him look absolutely sinfully hot in his ridiculously tight jeans and pink button down that has one too many buttons left undone, teasing skin, his chain as always around his neck, part of his flower tattoo on exhibition for too many to see. Not that Carlos is the jealous type, but his boyfriend is attractive as hell and he’s definitely not the only one who has noticed that.
Which introduces the other issue.
“Oh my god babe, I’m so relieved you are here. I feel old.” TK declares absolutely horrified by having spent the majority of the evening in company with people who are probably old enough to drink because Carlos is not looking forward to arresting anyone, but with the majority of them being under 25, maybe?
But he agrees, everyone is so millennial here, like too millennial even for his tastes that they are all feeling much more like zoomers than anything, yes Carlos spends time on the internet. And he does have a younger sister that age and has spent too much time on calls where he’s been forced to talk to people under 20 feeling very much like they are speaking a completely different language to him. But being here Carlos realises that Mateo is actually a few years younger than him which has never even crossed his mind before, but standing here in Mateo’s new apartment he just moved into it’s becoming clear that Carlos with his 27 years is actually old in comparison to this.
Marjan looks to be having the time of her life though, looking slick and cool in her completely black awesome outfit, having a group of people wrapped around her fingers as they seem to hang onto every word, oohing and aaahing at the right places while Paul is playing on the ps5, him, Marjan and TK got Mateo for Christmas slaying everyone who dares playing against him. TK looks absolutely appaled at having been forced into the company of these people for the past few hours that he’s already been here, and it’s hilarious because sometimes riling TK up and annoying him is a little fun, but Carlos is the best thank you very much and he asks if TK wants to go have sex on Mateo’s bed in retaliation and TK’s eyes grow mischevous by the very idea.
“Yes, I love that.” He’s much happier already and he’s positively glowing, his slight addiction to misbehaving becoming evidently clear. Marjan stops both of them, wrapping her arms around their shoulders harshly.
“No screwing in probie’s bed.” She chides and TK’s mood sours immediately.
“Marjan, come on, look at this. I’m too old to be here, I want to have some fun.”
“Perfect, we’re playing truth or dare, you’ll love it.”
TK groans.
But they are forced into the game nonetheless because Paul joins too and when Paul and Marjan’s plans align they are a goddamn unstoppable force and there really isn’t anything you can do to escape it.
So, forced into a game Carlos hasn't played since probably high school is either going to become absolutely disastrous or the most fun he’s had in ages, he hasn’t made up his mind yet. Mateo joins as well and a bunch of other people Carlos is never going to learn the names of join together in the kitchen, TK being well TK sitting on top of the kitchen island, cross legged and leaning against Carlos who is sitting on one of the bar stools, his arms securely around him, sipping a really shitty beer someone gave him before the game started.
When a girl called Emily gets dared to call an ex of hers to tell him the rules of Monopoly even TK can’t help but laugh because she absolutely kills it, finishing the call with all of them applauding her because that was some Boss as shit to do, even Carlos respects it.
Lots of the people around them keep shooting lingering glances at him and TK, not judgeful ones, Carlos would probably fake threaten to arrest them for prejudice and discrimination if he felt any hostility, no, they are curious, kind, a little intruding maybe, but it’s done out of an eagerness, maybe at seeing a gay couple so openly happy and relaxed together that they can’t help themselves. Or maybe they’re checking them out and Carlos will accept that as a compliment without it getting to his head. When he leans forward and kisses the back of TK’s head it's obvious it’s become too much for the people around them and a guy called Fred bursts at the seams.
“TK.” He says. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth I guess.” He says nonchalantly.
“Who tops and who bottoms in the relationship?”
There’s a collective groan in the room and Fred blushes, obviously unaware of his mistake but seems to have enough awareness at least to realise he’s done something stupid. Carlos is just waiting for TK to give the guy a totally inappropriate answer exposing their sex life to a bunch of people who can only dream of ever having as amazing sex as they are having, yeah it’s not nice bragging, but doing it inside of his head where no one can hear isn’t hurting anyone, but it’s not TK who answers, it’s Mateo, beating TK to it.
“That’s a stupid question Fred, rooted in outdated gender roles while it also reinforces false heteronormative ideas of feminintiy and masculinty onto sex. The idea that you have to be dominant or submissive just because you like to give or receive is just ridiculous, because even you should be aware that depending on the mood, the time or whatever you’re not going to just enjoy one single thing, and if you do, then you’ve clearly only had terrible sex.”
The room grows silent, Carlos' eyes widening as TK holds back his laughter.
“Yeah that, what Mateo said Fred.” TK forces out, coughs to hide how he’s close to absolutely losing it while the room erupts into loud cheering and whistling making both Mateo and Fred blush.
“Daaaamn probie, who would have thought you actually listen when we tell you stuff huh? Good job.” Marjan says while Paul looks like a proud father, absolutely beaming. TK takes pity on Fred who is looking a little dejected.
“Just find yourself a partner that you feel safe and loved by and do some experimenting to see what you like, but make sure to set boundaries too, and you’ll be good to go. Also if you’re straight, respect women, they are the best thing we have.” Fred looks a little relieved as someone beside him pulls him into a rough friendly hug and they move on.
The game continues and soon everyone has forgotten Fred’s little mistake and the game grows louder and rowdier, Paul drawing the short straw of getting dared to smell everyone’s feet in the room and rank them.
“Carlos, truth or dare.” These kids are too thrifty for Carlos, he aint getting dared into something stupid.
“Truth.” He settles for. Lily’s eyes land on TK and she smiles sweetly.
“Favourite and least favorite thing about TK.” TK turns his head and grins as Carlos sticks his tongue out.
“Least favorite thing is his messiness and proneness to forgetful spells, you see kids turning 27 can make you a bit forgetful, don't forget to be kind to him tonight.” It sets the whole room off into roaring laughter and Carlos chuckles a little pleased at his own joke as TK glares without any heat, huffs and rolls his eyes. He makes sure to wrap his arms tighter around him.
“My favourite thing about him is his unwavering strength, his big heart and even though he’s struggled and failed and failed again he never gives up on trying to do better. It’s simple, I love him, so it’s easy to love every part of him.”
Loud AAAWWWWs erupts all over the room and TK’s flush is high on his cheeks as he leans towards Carlos, gently kissing him. A girl sends Lily a look of fondness, both him and TK catching it before she averts her eyes.
“I love you.” TK whispers, only meant for Carlos, and his heart swells from hearing the words for the 100th time. It never seizes to stop taking the breath out of him.
The game continues, someone making the mistake of daring Marjan to eat a spoon of hot sauce, her face not moving an inch as she swallows it without trouble, Mateo to tell everyone who he’d like to make out with in the room then being dared to do it by Carlos because she looks to be a little interested in Mateo too, while Carlos gets dared to behave like the person to his right which has the whole room dying and the acting lessons he took in high school coming in handy. It doesn’t surprise Carlos that this happens because these people are relentless but then, TK gets dared to give him a goddamn lap dance, the attention bouncing off TK in waves, his elation and cheekiness making him look way too hot while Carlos tries very hard to think of the pile of dishes at home in his sink to distract from not making good on his earlier promises and dragging TK away to Mateo’s room and get laid immediately. He sends Paul a hateful glare who looks smug.
By the time someone asks the question about TK’s flower tattoo on his chest Carlos has actually gotten a little tipsy, and the youngsters, which most of them aren’t really, because some he’s realised are as old as he is, have grown a lot on him. He’s having a very good time.
“What’s the story behind the flower tattoo, if there is one?” TK leans forward, eyes mischievous.
“It’s funny you should ask.” He begins and Carlos silently groans.
“So, the story begins when I was in Thailand, gap year and all that, I am sure you’ve been at that point in your life?” Some nod, TK has the attention of the whole room and he grows more and more confident, comfortable with everyone’s attention on him.
God, this is going to be funny.
“We were partying at my hostel, we got real drunk and I went home with a dude that I had met who were staying at a different place than I was. We were both really drunk, we fooled around in his room, you know what happened next, no details for you dirty buggers. Anyway, in the middle of the night I want a snack so I leave him sleeping. Only that I am still so drunk that I forget that to be able to get back to his room you have to have a key card to get the elevator to take you to the floors. So, only in boxers I take the elevator to the ground floor and try to get the vending machine to give me some chocolate, without any money. I stand there clicking every button I can find, when there’s suddenly a cat on the lobby desk. So drunk as I am my attention is immediately on the cat who wasn’t as much in a cuddly mood as I was.”
Carlos is not drunk enough to buy a word coming out of TK’s mouth, but he’s telling it with such conviction, hands motioning around, having completely captivated the room’s attention that even Marjan looks unsure whether to believe this or not.
“The cat runs away, I forget my hunger and I start to make my way back up to, Simon, that was the guy’s name. I try to find my way back up there, only the elevator doesn’t work because I don’t have a keycard so I’m screwed but of course too drunk to realise this. The elevator keeps going up and down though as people come and go and I’m there just in my boxers like a total loser. Basically someone must have thought that I was a prostitute because someone called the police who came to get me. They were so friendly by the way and so sweet, and there I am in my boxers out on the street so drunk I can barely remember my own name trying to answer questions about what my phone number is and where I live.”
He pauses for dramatic effect and Carlo bites his lip, hard and discreetly so no one can see how deranged he thinks this story is. Everyone seems to want to know more so TK pushes on.
“I get escorted out, given a jacket by someone to cover up and then they tell me that they will drive me home. While they are driving I see a tattoo shop that’s open 24/7 and I tell them to drop me there and say something like I live upstairs with the owner and show a photo of a friend who definitely isn't Australian or own any goddamn tattoo shop owner but they buy it. Or they were probably just tired of me, so they drop me off there and I insist I will be fine. Outside there’s a group of people, all of them clearly drunk. I join them, you know making friends while drunk it’s like the easiest thing in the world and then we go into the shop together, me in my boxers and Sydney PD jacket to go with and then have the massive flower tattoo made on my chest while my new friends cheer me on, pay for it too because I have no money or phone, drink some more beer inside of the shop and then we all share a cab back to the same hostel we were staying at and the morning after I woke up with the biggest hangover I have ever experienced, no phone, no clothes and a massive tattoo on my chest I barely remember getting.“ He finishes and the room has been rendered speechless.
TK is preening, loving what he’s just done. The whole room erupts into loud chatter soon enough and none of them can really make sense of the story and alternate between completely buying it and not buying it at all.
Carlos leans forward, nipping gently at TK’s ear before he whispers.
“Babe, I want the actual story for the tattoo.”
“What? You don’t believe what I just told you?” He asks, sweetly, innocently and Carlos snorts.
“Sure, and I am related to Lady Gaga.” TK laughs, turns his head and kisses him.
“I’ll tell you later.” He promises and Carlos pecks him gently on the lips. The room’s moved on and the game continues for a while longer before the crowd disrupts, Marjan and TK set on matchmaking Lily together with the same girl that looked at her earlier while Paul and Carlos get roped into an armwrestling contest that he’s going to feel in his muscles tomorrow for sure.
By the time someone decides they’re going out clubbing Carlos is fairly drunk, a comfortable buzzing just underneath his skin and he’s having a good time, he isn’t going to say no to dancing. TK finds him, sneaking an arm around him, refusing to let him go, which makes it much harder to get his jacket and shoes on and get downstairs and out to the uber that’s waiting. They must look slightly ridiculous like this but no one is paying attention to them and Carlos only has eyes for TK anyway, so nothing matters than him.
They share a cab with Paul and two other people Carlos cannot remember the names of but seems to be really engaged with Paul about some book they both love and Carlos tunes them out, nuzzling TK’s hair who is still wrapped around him. TK looks up to meet his eyes, smile soft and eyes alluring and lips plumb and extremely kissable. Carlos licks his lips.
“Can you two at least wait until we’re in the club so I don’t have to watch you suck each other’s faces off right here?” Carlos huffs and TK swats at Paul, not getting too far away from Carlos, his arms still wrapped around him.
What can he say? He’s drunk, in love and he has a stupidly hot boyfriend, he might be losing his grip on appropriate behaviour when TK is this near and this intoxicating. But maybe, just maybe he should stop drinking for the rest of the evening, especially if he wants to get laid when he gets home.
They get to the club and both TK and him lose the rest of their friends. Not that it matters much anyway, all he has eyes for is TK who doesn’t hesitate to take charge, pulling Carlos towards the dancefloor with such ease it’s hard not to be completely enticed by him. The music is loud vibrating through Carlos’ body and TK pulls him close, finally without having to care about other people, letting go of everything that was holding him back before, finally having TK all to himself.
TK looks to be in his right goddamn element, alive, happy, body moving with the freedom of being safe and in love and allowed to exist freely. Carlos barely even grapples with the urge to pull him close, he just does and kisses him, passionately, bruising, messing up his hair and pulling his hips close to his own. TK hisses against his mouth but he gives as good as he gets and he kisses back fervently, intensely with brutal vigor and Carlos loses his footing, it’s so good. They’re being so indecent right now, but there’s something positively addictive being with TK like this, grinding on each other, kissing without holding back, loving each other boldly and loudly.
It’s all Carlos has ever wanted.
TK pulls away, he honestly looks absolutely wrecked, way too good for Carlos to be sane about anything.
“Baby.” He rasps in Carlos’ ear, voice hoarse and broken and it goes straight to Carlos’ dick, he hisses in response. God he’s so gone. TK, the little devil kisses his neck, lips attached to the exposed skin of his t-shirt, licks his skin, pulls it into his mouth and Carlos bites at his lip, hard, pulling TK closer to him.
They are going to have to slow down otherwise they are going to get kicked out.
“Baby.” He says, sees a shiver go through TK as he clutches at Carlos’ hair, messing it up completely. “We’re going to have to slow down.”
“Why?” TK whines.
“Because we’re not having sex in the bathroom…” But even as he says it the image of TK on his knees in front of him is a little too much not to be very tempting. TK bites at his earlobe, the fucking tease and sucks it into his mouth.
“Fine, fine.” He agrees, pulls back and kisses Carlos, still sinfully hot, but a little more controlled and appropriate than before. He pulls back, smiles beautifully and Carlos knows he’s just never ever going to love someone the way he loves TK.
But they slow down a little, and somehow find Paul who points at Mateo making out with the girl from earlier, Marjan is at the bar looking mischievous and Carlos wonders what she has in mind. He finds that out when she walks towards them, glitter in her hands. She blows some onto Paul who swoops her up spinning her around as she laughs delightedly and then smears some onto Carlos’ face. He wipes parts of it off, but it sticks to his face like glue because of the sweat, and wipes it onto TK’s face, pulling him close to kiss him to stop his squeaking and swatting.
Mateo comes and joins them and they spend the rest of the night dancing and shouting and laughing and it’s liberating, a different kind of high to be out with friends who you love, who accept you and who you can be yourself with 100%. They are all going to spend weeks trying to get the glitter out of their hair though, Carlos knows as much.
At 5 in the morning he and TK stumble through his door, both of them unable to keep their hands off each other after behaving for hours. Finally they are completely alone.
…..
Carlos wakes up the next day when TK starts to move around in their bed. He hears him leave the room and Carlos groans, throws an arm across his face, hiding from the light streaming in through the opened curtains. He has a headache, not just due to being hungover, but more because of clubbing for hours with loud music, staying up for most of the night and probably because as much as he doesn’t like to admit it, he’s nearing 30. Being out clubbing all night takes much more of a toll on his body than it used to.
TK comes back, puts down what Carlos thinks is a glass of water on the nightstand before he crawls back into bed, Carlos pulling him close, snuggling up against him as soon as he’s back in bed. TK huffs but doesn’t object as Carlos noses at his neck, feeling TK run a hand through his hair.
He’s sore all over, from the arm wrestling, from the dancing and from the insane sex they had last night. And he’s probably wearing TK’s boxers by mistake, because they feel a little too tight on him so they are definitely not his. It’s not comfortable but he doesn’t have the energy to care.
“Morning.” TK croaks out, voice hoarse from all of the screaming. He hums, not really ready yet to be a human. He’s allowed to lie for a moment in bed, peaceful, but the thing with TK is that sometimes he’s inhumane in the mornings, taking after Owen undoubtedly, with his uncanny ability to just be awake. He can definitely be a sleepy little brat, but when he isn’t, once he’s up, he’s up.
“There’s glitter everywhere.” TK comments, smile evident in his voice. Carlos forces his eyes to open, blinks a few times and looks around the room, sees that there is indeed glitter on the bed, clothes lying all around the bedroom, pillows on the ground, the bottle of lube still open, leaking onto the hardwood floor and the mattress has been moved, lying halfway across the bed.
He groans, shifts onto his back pushing his unruly curls away from his face and rubs at his eyes, trying to feel a little bit more awake.
“Here.” TK says and hands him the glass of water. He thankfully takes a sip, moves the pillow more comfortably behind his head before he closes his eyes again, ready to sleep for a few more hours. TK huffs, shuffles around for a moment, unhappy, before he comes closer to Carlos, nudging his legs apart so he can settle between them. Carlos opens his eyes again and moves to make more room for him. TK immediately stops moving and settles, hands unconsciously stroking across Carlos’ chest.
TK has a pillow streak across his cheek, blue and pink glitter still on his face and his hair really is messy from Carlos pulling on it last night, and yet managing to look way too good for someone who has been up most of the night partying.
“Hi.” He says, voice hoarse too. He coughs to clear his throat a few times and TK’s mouth twitches.
“We broke the room last night.” He comments dryly, amusement dancing in his eyes.
“I’m sure it was mostly you.”
“The mattress was all you.” He smirks and Carlos snorts.
“Yeah I definitely feel that today, and a little like I’ve been hit by a brick…” TK laughs as Carlos struggles with words, not sure how to make his brain work.
“Yeah, I know what you mean.”
“I hate to say this but I am getting too old to party like this.” TK laughs, swats his chest.
“Don’t say that. You’re making me feel ancient.”
“You seem to be handling it a little better than I am.” He mutters and TK snorts.
“Well I didn’t engage in an arm wrestling contest that was just an excuse to flex.”
None of them mention the very obvious reason as to why TK’s is feeling better than Carlos is. Not that they don’t talk about TK’s addiction, they do, sometimes a lot, sometimes less and sometimes not at all. It’s definitely become a fixed point in their relationship, it’s impossible for it to not be one when you are as serious as they are. But they don’t have to tiptoe around the subject anymore either, it’s become as normalised as it can be between them, even getting to the point where TK will sometimes make a crude joke about it that should have Carlos chiding him, that more often than not makes him snort and pull him into a hug instead.
And TK’s whole life, the very core of who he is is not defined by his substance abuse and addiction or his anxiety and issues, so their relationship isn’t either. More often than not they have the exact same problems any couple their age has and it’s nice it has gotten to that point after having had a really rough start to everything.
“What can I say? I’m hot and muscly.” He jokes, flexes his bicep for show as TK snorts, swats him a little harder than before.
“Well you beat everyone in the room who dared to go up against you, that’s not bad.”
“Thank you.” TK rolls his eyes without heat and leans forward to gently peck his lips.
“You have really bad morning breath.” TK observes, pulls back, grimaces in disappointment and Carlos snorts.
“I’m not surprised.” He lifts his head, looks around the room and then changes his mind, lies back down again. TK lifts an eyebrow.
“Just thinking whether I have the energy to get up and clean, I don’t.”
“You’ve earnt a morning in.”
“I think so too.” He agrees and TK huffs.
They’re quiet for a moment, enjoying just being in each other’s company after being apart for a while with their mismatched schedules. It looks like it might be sunny today too and Carlos can probably agree to take a walk, he’s sure TK is going to suggest it.
They’re both extroverts, but only to an extent. TK is learning that he actually likes spending nights in instead of going out to dinner or clubbing while Carlos has learnt the enjoyment of downtime as he can struggle with not knowing when and how to take a break or relax, always feeling like he needs to to do something, to be on his feet, to move, always edging closer to a burnout with the rhythm he’s going in. In that regard they are quite similar and relaxing together, shutting their brains off in a coping mechanism that isn’t sex (yes that works too but it’s not exactly a sustainable option) has become both a challenge and easier with time.
So they have taken to walking on the weekends or the days where they have time off, to talk about the hard stuff, the big life changing stuff or the small and silly things. There’s something with walking in nature that makes all the hard things in life feel easier, easier to detangle the messes and feel like everything will be okay. His ten thousand daily steps shoot in record each weekend when they keep pushing themselves to find new paths, or walk on the old ones, stopping for coffee when the weather allows it, basking in the sun and each other. It’s very old retired couple of them, but even Paul and Mateo’s teasing had come to a stop when Carlos had smacked a massive list of benefits in the group chat to shut them up and asked them to come with them instead. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. But it’s definitely a habit that’s just his and TK’s, carved out from love and finding ways to grow together.
“Sooo…” Carlos says, teasing and TK lifts an eyebrow and leans forward, his elbows resting on Carlos’ chest.
“The tattoo story from yesterday, that was a load of horseshit.” TK grins.
“That was hilarious, I wish someone would have filmed it.”
“I’m sure you would, you sneaky little monster.”
“I think you mean genius.”
“Sure, sure.” TK laughs and there are fewer things Carlos delights in doing more than making him happy. Ever since they got official he’s decided that it’s a daily goal, a promise to keep being happy together, and so far he’s kept it up.
Carlos lifts an eyebrow.
“This tattoo thing is becoming a recurring thing I see?”
“Ah, you’ve seen through my genius plans.” TK snorts.
“This is the first one I ever did.” Carlow grows serious and unconsciously reaches a hand forward, stroking along the tattoo on display.
“Oh?”
“Yeah, my dad wouldn’t let me until I turned 18 and I did some real begging and convincing to try and change his mind but he always said no. He settled for 18 because he has one himself which he did when he was 16 and was a lifeguard. It used to be a koi fish but he’s changed it a lot since then and it’s a bit of a mess. ‘A wonderful blob, just like his mind’ that’s his own words.” Carlos chuckles.
“Ah, so why a flower?”
“I don’t even know if it has a meaning or anything, I've just always associated flowers and plants with life and natural beauty and it gives me a sense of serenity, grounds me a bit more in reality when everything is uncertain. And you know me, a lot of things have been uncertain in my life.”
“Yeah, but considering what you’ve been through it’s amazing how far you’ve come, you know this right?”
“Yeah, I’m starting to learn that.” He smiles, a little shyly. “And life is finally starting to feel good again, like this is how it’s supposed to be and I feel safe with you.”
Carlos feels his eyes soften and his heart beat fiercely in his chest and he loves TK so much.
“I feel safe with you too.” He whispers and TK nods, like he understands, eyes soft and a sweet little smile at the edge of his lips as he melts in Carlos’ arms, like it’s finally clicked for him too that they really do belong together. Carlos isn’t very religious or superstitious but from the moment he met TK, when he was guarded and on edge and only wanted sex, knew that they would be good together, that there was something about TK that would manage to ground all of Carlos’ faults and flaws and that once they would be un equal ground, they would create something good and beautiful and stable out of something momentarily broken.
Because TK isn’t broken or damaged beyond repair, he never was and he isn’t now either.
He is the love of Carlo’s life.
He isn’t superstitious but he knows this.
“For someone claiming to be such a city boy you sure do have a lot of earthy and nature themed tattoos.” He comments, gently caressing TK’s cheek, hoping that all he feels for this man can be read in his face. When TK’s breath hitches he thinks he knows, or that he’s seen something he wasn’t expecting.
Carlos pulls him into a peck and TK whines.
“Don’t you have a breath mint or something so we can kiss properly?” He complains making Carlos chuckle.
He throws a look at the nightstand and TK grumberly climbs over him, poking Carlos hard on the nose which he expects is on purpose before he opens the drawer and pulls out a small box of tic taks. He pops it into his own mouth, climbs back on top of Carlos and reaches down, kissing him salaciously, loudly and gives the breath mint over to Carlos who honestly almost swallows it whole his whole body reacting so instantly to TK it short circuits his brain. TK grinds down and Carlos groans, pushing up for more friction and TK chuckles, pleased by the reaction, against his mouth before he throws the duvet to the side so he can get more access.
Suddenly Carlos doesn’t have a headache anymore.
…..
They do make it out of bed eventually and they clean the mess up together. Then Carlos takes a shower and when he comes back TK has made banana pancakes and Carlos realises just how hungry he is. He definitely does the majority of the cooking in the relationship but TK will surprise him from time to time by making something he knows really well, and he seems to have taken to breakfast wood with an almost natural ease, spending a long time of this relationship trying to perfect his banana pancakes.
And Carlos likes cooking so he really doesn’t mind that he does it a lot. He really was brought up with food being the ingredient that solved things within his family. It could be a forgiving gesture or a loving gesture and it was always a caring gesture, even when fights got big and words were said and Carlos was convinced the family was going to split into sides that would never heal, but food was the one constant. He’s taken that with him and it’s his way of showing TK how much he adores him, hearing him try something of Carlos’ and like it, face lighting up as the spices and flavours mix together perfectly is an incredible feeling.
So instead TK is observant, always makes him tea the way he likes it, comes by the station to give him coffee if he’s nearby, stacks up on the protein powder Carlos uses when he does go grocery shopping for them and buys him lunch when they are out in town, obsessed with trying new places. The best thing though is that Carlos’ kitchen has for months now been stacked up on things he would never buy himself, like the fancy hazelnut coffee syrup that’s now found a permanent place by his coffee maker, one of the empty shelves in his cupboard that he’s never found anything to keep there that TK fills up with sweets and snacks and chocolate. Or the vegan protein bars that are now a permanent fixture in a cupboard beside the oven.
TK hasn’t moved in officially but he barely goes home these days, once or twice every second week and only more often if TK and his schedules don’t align at all.
Carlos should probably ask him about moving in soon.
“Hi baby.” TK says and Carlos steps close, pecks him lovingly on the lips before he steals a piece of the pancake, TK swatting his hand away.
“Hey.” Carlos pecks him again before he goes to get some plates and set the table for them. TK comes carrying the plate with pancakes shortly after and Carlos makes himself a coffee because TK when he does drink it, it’s not usually in the mornings, and sighs happily as he swallows down the first sip and then they sit down and eat together.
Carlos is living on cloud 9 at the moment, he’s spent the majority of last night dancing with the love of his life, the morning was full of even more sex and now they’re having breakfast together, the thrill of it moves through him like a current, enfulging him into a warm blanket of happiness. And Carlos really truly is happy.
TK seems to sense it too, he keeps sending Carlos smiles over the table, hooking his ankle over his underneath it, rarely breaking eye contact. When they’re done TK comes forward, sitting down in Carlos’ lap, wrapping his arms around him.
“Hi you.” Carlos says, putting his arms around TK’s waist, pulling him closer to him.
“Hi.” TK whispers, pushes a hand through Carlos’ damp hair, messing up the curls even worse.
“I really like your hair like this.” TK muses, continues with the action, sending shivers down his spine.
“I’ve noticed.”
“Why don’t you keep your hair like this more often?”
“If you had curly hair you would know.” Carlos snorts. He cuts it regularly, hates it when it gets too long, it’s much harder to style and he wants his hair to be out of his way when he works so he tends to sleep with hair stuff in his hair when he goes to sleep, it takes him much shorter to get ready in the mornings that way.
“Maybe.” TK agrees, pulls at the strands a little, enjoying the sounds he’s bringing out of Carlos.
“This has been nice, I’ve missed you a lot recently.”
“I know, I know, I’m sorry. I’ve missed you too.” He promises.
“Do you really have to work tonight?” TK sighs looking dejected.
“Actually no, not tonight, I switched my shifts around.”
“Really?” He looks so happy right now, eyes alive and sweet.
“Yeah.” He rubs his nose against TK’s who huffs but returns the movement before Carlos kisses his nose lovingly.
“So, what should we do with the rest of the day then?” He wonders. TK shrugs.
“Nothing, it doesn’t matter what, I just want to spend it with you.”
Carlos smiles.
“Me too.”
And so they do, taking advantage of the day fully, Carlos loving every minute of it.

5 days away #Tarlos
He couldn't sleep knowing he'd have to leave in the morning. He wasn't sure why his Dad, Captain, had signed them all up to arrive at the training seminar on different days and times. He was the only one that was arriving Saturday. Matteo and Marjan weren't coming until later Sunday and Cap and Judd were coming together sometime late Sunday evening or first thing Monday. All he was told, was to make sure that they had all the materials sent to them, and to make sure they had at least one formal outfit. Tk hated that. He like to just wear a sweatshirt(unusually one of Carlos') and a pair of joggers. And at work it was his work gear.
***
He slept maybe 2 hours and had to get up a little bit early to head to the shops to get a formal outfit. When he made his way downstairs, Carlos had breakfast made. He made TK's favorite. Eggs, toast and chocolate chip pancakes. Carlos made them into a heart shape, which Tk scoffed at. He made his way to Carlos and met his lips with a kiss. "Thank you Papi." "So nice of you to make breakfast." Carlos nodded his head and handed Tk a cup of coffee. They chatted and TK's eyes welled up. Carlos noticed immediately. He asked Tk why he was crying and Tk wiped his eyes. "III I...am not." Carlos knew him better than that. "Just worried about this seminar." "They will probably have everyone sitting there with drinks flowing and I am worried I will be tempted." Carlos didn't know that Tk could be tempted that easily. Carlos grabbed Tk in close and said, "call me if you feel that way." "You can do it." "You're strong." "I have every faith in the world, you'll be fine". "Besides, your Dad will be there". "He can help you". Tk knew that, but he was worried that if his Dad saw his weakness, he would hover. Tk leaned in for another kiss. "I have to go, I have to drive into town to get a suit". "Which I hate". "But, it was stated on the invite, that we needed one formal outfit."
Carlos, walked to the coat closet and pulled out a garment bag, and it had a new suit in it. He handed it to Tk and Tk couldn't lift his jaw up. He stood there speechless. "Babe, you shouldn't have". Carlos responded, "that he knew that Tk wouldn't have time and he wanted to have as much time with Tk as possible, before Tk left". "So he bought it. So, Tk didn't have to leave as early".
Tk pushed Carlos back into the kitchen counter, kissing him passionately, pushing his tongue in. Knowing now that he had extra time. He could definitely take advantage of it. Carlos pushed him away, and told him to "settle down"."He needed to finish getting ready".Tk kissed him more and harder. Taking Carlos' joggers off...making a reference that if Carlos had a shirt on, his curls weren't all messy and he wasn't stood there after having done something so nice for Tk, Tk wouldn't feel so much pressure to want to Thank him like this.
Carlos mumbled through the kisses..."You're unbelievable, you know that"? Tk said, "You love it".
Carlos said, "Yes, Tiger..I do, but you have to go". Tk said "not for another forty minutes, that leaves us with plenty of time". Carlos knew Tk wouldn't give up. So, he let Tk have his way. Knowing exactly what he could do to get Carlos to stop talking. He kissed his way down Carlos' stomach and slowly kissed all around the trail where Carlos' pants would sit. It didn't last long and Carlos was ready. Tk's mouth being so close to that area he couldn't help it. Tk slowly took the whole cock in his mouth. A feat that didn't happen often because, much to TK's liking, Carlos was huge. Biggest Tk has ever had. He didn't complain, but very much so, he couldn't always fit the whole thing in his mouth. He did this time, and Carlos buckled at the knees. Tk lifted him onto the counter. Carlos loved it. Tk didn't take charge often. It felt scary, and worrisome to Tk. He was scared that if he took charge, that it wouldn't be enough and Carlos wouldn't be satisfied and would end up leaving him. That brought up too many bad memories for Tk. But, today Tk took charge and Carlos was more than okay with it. Tk finished and threw a kitchen towel to Carlos, made his way to the door and told Los to "clean up". "He had to go".
****
Tk was driving, music fully blaring to try to distract himself from the boner he had , just thinking about earlier. He hated this. Five days away from Carlos. That would be hard to do. The most they've ever been away from each other was twenty four hours, and the longest they've ever gone without sex is forty eight hours. Another reason that Tk was very worried about leaving. Another reason he was crying earlier. He trusted Carlos. He fully trusted him, but damn, Alex made it hard. He knows deep inside that Carlos would NEVER look elsewhere, but, those feelings still come to the surface. Especially now, knowing they will be away from each other for so long.
Tk got to the hotel after the 2 hour drive, which seemed like 4 hours..and immediately called Carlos. Carlos didn't answer. Tk needed to hear Carlos' voice and needed to tell Carlos thanks for setting him off and making him drive the whole way with an erection.
He called Carlos again, no answer. So he decided that he was feeling feisty and took a picture of himself, without his pants on. Sent it to Carlos and said "this is all thanks to you". Carlos still didn't answer! All those thoughts kept going through Tk's head, but he kept saying to himself that maybe Carlos was working! Even though, he knew Carlos wasn't supposed to work until later. Something didn't seem right, but he decided he now needed to take care of something. And, would try to get a hold of Carlos later. He got onto the bed and started to undo his belt and his phone rang, he looked down and it said Papi❤. He immediately answered it, as he was about to say, "it's about time," Carlos shouted "Tyler Kennedy what on earth were you thinking sending me that picture"?. "Do you know what you've done to me?" "My sister stopped over and wanted to talk about planning Avó's birthday". "And then the picture came through and I could barely contain myself". "Keep it up and you'll be in the dog house". Tk couldn't stop laughing. "How did Lucia react?" "Really Tk?" "You can only think of how Lucia reacted and not that you shouldn't be sending pictures like that?" "Yessir!" Tk was loving this. "Oh meu Deus". Carlos said! Carlos shook his head and asked if Tk "had taken care of it yet?". Tk replied with, "I was just starting when you called me back". "Wish you were here, so I didn't have to do it like this." Tk proceeded.
***
That was the first time either of them ever did anything like that over the phone. It felt almost sinister, but Carlos had loved it. More times than none, he was the more adventurous one when it came to trying new things. Phone sex is definitely something they will have to do again.
The next morning at exactly 6am there was a knock at Tk's door. He woke up, all groggy and half out of it, stumbled over his suitcase that he didn't even put away(which he was mad about, because after his conversation with Carlos he did nothing the rest of the day before.). He got to the door and the hotel staff member was standing there with a tray with food on it. Tk could smell bacon and coffee. Along with the tray there was a single rose and a card that had something written on it. When he took the tray and sat down at the table in his room, he read the card. It said, "Dear Tk, I am so sorry, I can't be there with you." "I bought you breakfast and had it delivered, I knew you would sleep late and wouldn't make it down to breakfast at the hotel". "And I don't want you eating from some fast food restaurant, or skipping breakfast". "So, I wanted to make sure you were taken care of." "Eu te Amo, Tiger." "Enjoy your day." "We'll talk later."
Tk texted Carlos: "Thank you Papi for breakfast and for looking out for me. I love it. Love you."
Carlos never messaged back, but Tk was okay with that. He ate, got in the shower and then got ready for what he thought was to be one of the most boring days of his training. As he was getting ready, he got a message from Paul...he had wondered why Paul wasn't coming to the seminar. Turns out, Paul had to take care of some elderly lady that was back at home. Paul recently saved her from a fire and she has no one around. They texted back and forth for about 20 mins. Then Tk left and had to go two buildings over. To some building which seemed huge. There was a gym, a common room, and looked like conference rooms from what he could tell. He made his way to the common room where there was other people, waiting for the speaker to come in.
The day was dragging on, he hadn't checked his phone or anything the whole 10 hours he had been sitting in the class. Wondering why Marjan and Matteo didn't have to be there for that class.
***
After the class/speaker was done, Tk had decided he would hit up the gym in the building he was in and then head back to his hotel. On the way back to the hotel, he got a text from Carlos..it said: "Hey Babe, I've thought about our conversation on the phone yesterday, all day today." "And I can't stop thinking about it." "I need to do it again." Tk called Carlos.(was easier than texting his response)..."oh this is coming from the guy who was all embarrassed by it." "Now you want to do it again?" "You make no sense." Tk laughed. Carlos said, "It was hot Tk, just like you." "I couldn't resist it." "It's truly all I thought about, all day today." "While on the job, while at the gym, all day" "Oh, Los I get it, but take a breath." "I am not back at the hotel yet." "I am walking there now, but I would like to get in to the room, before I get all hot and bothered and ready." Carlos said, "Okay call me back as soon as you're in your room and settled in." Tk said, "okay, I will order some food and call you back we can do that while I am waiting on the food." Carlos bit his lip. Tk had gotten out the room key and when he first opened the door he looked down to see that the mess was cleaned up. He thought housekeeping had been there, but he was surprised to look up and see Carlos sitting there on the bed...fully unclothed.
His jaw dropped, he dropped the key and his phone on the floor.
"Wha...wha...what are you doing here?" Tk stammered. "I thought you couldn't join me at all, because you had to work the whole time." Carlos said, "No, I lied about that. I wanted to surprise you." Tk came over and straddled Carlos, he was mad....( but not really mad) Carlos had lied to him. He decided that that meant Carlos would have to be in trouble...he knew Carlos always had a pair of handcuffs on him and he had every intention of using them. But little did he know, Carlos had other plans. He was taking Tk's shirt and pants off..although the yellow hoodie Tk had on is Carlos' favorite. He almost didn't want to take it off of Tk, but Tk had already started to himself. So Carlos helped. Carlos slid out from under Tk. Tk tried to turn on his back, but Carlos pushed him down onto the bed. And kissed Tk's neck, all the spots of the neck, Tk lost his mind when Carlos kissed. He started to make his way down Tk's back and stopped right at the small of Tk's back, because Tk had been mumbling something. Carlos stopped kissing and Tk turned his head enough so, Carlos could hear him. Tk said, "I went to the gym before I came back here. I need to shower." Carlos had known Tk wanted to, but there was NO TIME for that. Carlos said "we can shower together afterwards, this isn't the first time I've seen you sweaty."Tk was surprisingly okay with that. Carlos pushed Tk's head back down so it was laying on the sheets and massaged Tk's back. Tk was always so tense. That's the only thing that bothered Carlos about Tk. He made his way down to Tk's arse and stopped, looked at it, and bit his lip. That was his favorite part of Tk. He wanted to admire it for just a bit. He slowly rubbed his finger all around it, sending shivers up Tk's spine. He arched his back as to lean into Carlos' finger. Carlos was always so gentle and careful when he was on top. He was bigger than Tk had ever had and he always wanted Tk to feel okay. To feel loved, to feel needed, to feel like he was enough. Tk always felt that way, when Carlos was the top. Carlos is amazing at what he does. He always, looks out for Tk and that isn't something Tk ever experienced before. Tk could do rough, could handle rough, he just didn't put feelings into it that way. Rough and rushed is always how it was before they were boyfriends. And although Carlos was more adventurous, he always, always, always, made sure that Tk was satisfied. And that Tk satisfied him.
As, he started to enter Tk, he pulled away and Tk was scared for a moment. He wasn't sure what was happening. Carlos said, "we can't do this like this. I forgot the lube and I didn't bring any protection." He knew the burn Tk felt even with those, he couldn't imagine how it would feel without it. Tk didn't care. He wanted Carlos so bad. He needed Carlos. Carlos asked "only if Tk was sure". Tk nodded and said "he was more than sure".
Carlos started out very slowly, he didn't want to enter Tk too fast, and hurt him in anyway. So, after he got past the part that burned the most, Tk had him stop, but not pull out. Tk needed to let the burning sensation settle for a minute.
He started to move on Carlos...Carlos knew TK was ready. He still went slow and Tk was moaning and breathing like he never had before. Carlos knew he could speed up, and Tk would tell him if that wasn't okay. It was the greatest they both ever had. The sounds that came from their room, could probably be heard all the way downstairs at the front desk. But, they didn't care. They were fully succumbed in the moment. As soon as they both finished Carlos rolled off of Tk and Tk rolled on to his back and Carlos' phone was going off. It was Captain Strand. He answered, "Hi Capt". "How are you?" Tk immediately reached for his phone, wondering if he had missed calls from his Dad. Remembering that he dropped his phone when he saw Carlos. Carlos wouldn't let him get up to get it. He still had his legs wrapped around Tk's.
Carlos had said to Owen, "Yes, he had NO idea so thank you." They hung up and Carlos looked over at TK. Tk asked "who had no idea, about what?" "And why were you thanking my Dad?" Carlos explained that Owen and Carlos had set this whole thing up. They knew Tk needed the seminar, but they both knew that Carlos wanted to have time away with TK. Tk needed that. Tk was so happy. Happy that Carlos was thoughtful enough to care, thoughtful enough to know exactly what Tk needed. Tk got up to get his phone, and to get ready to get in shower. Carlos asked "if he could join" and Tk said "yes, and that when they were done, it was time for round 2 and Tk was in charge".
Tried to write a thing. Hope you all enjoy it.

Title: Do all things with love.
Summary: TK is looking forward to his first Christmas with Carlos but work threatens to ruin their plans.
Read fullfic under the cut.
TK stirred in the bed, his arm running under the silk pillow. He could hear the faint beeping of his alarm clock from his bedside. TK flung his arm over, rapidly tapping his screen to make the noise stop. TK peeled his eyes open, squinting at the time on his phone.
5am.
He groaned, twisting in the bed as if not looking at the time would change it. TK reached his arm hoping to find the warm body he had grown used to sleeping with next to him, but the bed was empty. TK pulled himself up, looking around the room. TK frowned as he noticed Carlos wasn't there, the man had the day off so didn't need to be up early like TK.
The door to the room open and Carlos stepped in wearing grey sweats and one of TK's work hoodies, two steaming cups of coffee in his hand. "Merry Christmas," He smiled, coming to a stop by TK's side of the bed, holding out the coffee for TK to take. TK smiled back, catching Carlos's lips in his as he took the warm drink.
"Merry Christmas," TK hummed as Carlos got back in the bed, both men sat next to each other. TK wrapped his hand around the mug, the steam rising on his face. "Do I have to go to work," He groaned, wanting nothing more than to spend Christmas morning in bed with Carlos. TK sunk further into the pillow behind him, looking at Carlos with a pleading look.
Carlos gave a small laugh, reaching out to brush the bed hair from TK's forehead, "I'm afraid so tiger," He smiled, earning another groan from TK, "But hey just think, when you're finished you can come back here for dinner," Normally on Christmas, either TK or his dad would be working and by the time they got home they were too tired to do anything. This year was different, they had seen his dad Christmas Eve and were going to see Carlos's parents on Boxing day. This meant the boys got to spend Christmas day together, Carlos had the day off and TK finished at six, giving them the whole evening to have dinner and open presents.
TK gave a pleased hum, "That does sound good," TK beamed as he thought about his Christmas plans.
Carlos reached over, placing a kiss on TK's lips, TK reached up and smoothed his fingers over Carlos's cheek, "You're going to be late for work," Carlos teased, TK rolling his eyes as he pulled back, willing himself to leave the comfort of the bed.
TK got ready in record time, his logic being that quicker he got to work the quicker he would be able to get home. He stood in the living room, looking around at the Christmas decorations they had put up during the week. TK walked over to the tree, brushing his hand over one of the ball balls.
TK sat crossed-legged on the floor, holding the ball ball in his hand. He titled his head from side to side. TK held it against one tree branch, before changing it to another. Carlos laughed from behind him, "It doesn't have to be perfect you know?" He said, coming to sit next to him.
TK scrunched his brows together, scanning the tree for the perfect spot. "I'm just...taking me time," TK said while concentrating.
Carlos laughed, "I can see that." He teased.
TK felt his own smile grow as he finally placed the ball ball on a branch, leaning back on his hands to admire his work, "Hey, I haven't decorated a tree in years," TK said, looking up at the deep green tree, the dazzling tinsel wrapped around it. "I want to make sure it's perfect," TK said, even quieter. Christmas wasn't bad in New York, but it never felt...right. Someone was working or TK was struggling or sometimes both. TK wanted this to be different, they still had another week till Christmas and TK just wanted everything to be perfect.
Carlos wrapped his arm around TK's shoulder, placing a kiss on his cheek, "It is," He hummed. "Now," Carlos said, "You wanna put the star on?" He smiled.
TK laughed, taking the star from the box, standing up on this tiptoes. TK carefully the star on the large branch sticking up. He stepped back, beaming over at Carlos, "Now, its perfect," TK smiled. Carlos came to stand behind TK his chin resting on his shoulder as his hands wrapped around his body. TK turned his head to place a kiss on Carlos's cheek as the boys looked up at the tree.
"Now you're definitely going to be late," Carlos said as he stepped into the living room, pulling TK out of the memory. TK looked over at Carlos, he had shed the jumper and was just wearing a nicely fitted grey vest and the boxers.
"This," TK said, nodding to Carlos's outfit, "Does not make it any easier to leave," Carlos laughed, coming over to where TK stood, taking his coffee and having a sip. TK too distracted by his boyfriend's gorgeous look to protest him stealing TK's coffee.
"I'll see you tonight," Carlos said, handing the coffee back to TK, giving him a final kiss before he headed back to the bedroom, "Be safe," He called. TK grabbed his jacket off the table, wrapping it around himself, before downing the still-warm coffee. TK shoved his phone and keys into his pocket for heading out the door.
TK strolled into the station, some decorations hanging from the roof. He could hear the crew talking in the kitchen, walking over to join them, "Morning everyone," TK grinned, "Merry Christmas!" He said, pouring himself another cup of coffee.
"Merry Christmas brother," Paul said, clapping him on the shoulder.
"Looking forward to your first Christmas in Texa's," Marjan asked while leaning against the counter.
"Absolutely," TK declared, turning around to lean against the counter with her.
"What you got planned?" Mateo asked.
"Well after my shift Carlos and I having dinner," He said, sipping his coffee.
"Christmas dinner with the boyfriend, things must be getting serious," Paul teased, raising his eyebrow at TK.
"Getting?" Judd laughed, "I'm surprised they ain't already married with kids," He said giving TK a playful wink. Judd walked past, TK reaching out to give him a playful shove.
"What about you guys?" TK asked.
The team stood there exchanging their plans for Christmas, most the crew had plans for the next day or had already had dinner on Christmas Eve. Being a firefighter meant plans were never easy or normal, the crew had had their Christmas dinner a week before when all of their days off managed to sync up, Owen hosting it at his house. The siren blared across the lot, the crew heading out for their first call of the day.
---
TK washed his face, cleaning the shoot and ash off it. After their first call, the calls had just kept coming. Christmas was always busy, TK had lost count of the number of oven fires he had put out. He grabbed a towel wiping the water from his face, "Hey," Owen called as he walked into the bathroom, "You looking forward to your Christmas dinner tonight?" Owen asked.
TK smiled like he did every time he thought about their Christmas dinner. "Yeah, Carlos is cooking so we don't have to worry about me burning the place down," TK laughed. TK had offered to help cook but Carlos had ensured him he didn't need help. Carlos and TK brought many different skills to the relationship, cooking was not one of TK's. Carlos had been teaching TK and when they had gotten back from Owen's the night before TK had even helped Carlos prepare some of their food for the next day. TK could feel eyes on him, he glanced over at his dad who was smiling at him, "What?" He asked.
"Nothing it's just," Owen smiled again, placing his hand on TK's shoulder, "It's nice to see you so excited," Owen said. His dad gave his shoulder a squeeze before heading out of the room.
TK's phone hummed in his pocket, he brought it to his face, smiling as he saw the name flash up. "Hey," TK said, leaning against the counter, "Merry Christmas again," TK grinned.
"Merry Christmas to you too,"  Carlos said and TK could just picture the smile on his face,  "How's work been,"  He asked.
TK sighed, "Not bad, normal Christmas calls as usual," he said. "How's cooking going,"
" Very well thank you, hope you enjoy it, " Carlos said and TK could hear the man shuffling on the other end.  "You staying safe?"  Carlos asked.
TK playfully rolled his eyes, "Aren't I always?" He said, the laugh from Carlos giving him his answer.
"I need you back here in once piece,"  Carlos said.
"Did you just call to check on me?" TK sighed, causing another laugh from Carlos.
" Is that a crime? " He asked,
"Well, that depends do you get to use your handcuffs on me if it is?" TK teased, his brow raised. He heard Carlos laugh from the other end and before the cold answer the bell rang out in the station, "Saved by the bell," TK joked, starting to run towards the main lot.
"I'll speak to you later, be safe," Carlos called as TK hung up the phone.
---
TK sat in the break room, glancing down at his watch, 5:00pm. He sighed, running his hand through his hair as his body ached from his last call. He just needed the next hour to go by without a call and he could get home, see Carlos.
The door opened and Marjan walked in, coffee in hand and an icepack in the other. "Hey," She smiled, sitting opposite him, "You alright?" She asked, sliding the coffee and icepack across.
"Yeah yeah, just tired," He smiled, reaching for the icepack, "Thanks," he said, holding it to his ribs for a moment.
She nodded at him smiling. "Not long till your home with Carlos," She said, wrapping her hands around her own mug.
"If I ever finish my shift," TK said, raising his brows, "It will be a Christmas miracle if I do," He forced a smile on his face.
Marjan gave a sympathetic smile, "Perils of being a firefighter," She said.
"I never normally minded working on Christmas but," TK trailed off, thinking of Carlos at his apartment, Christmas dinner and decorations around him, TK gave shy smile, "I guess after this year I was looking forward to a quiet, normal, Christmas," After the year they had all had, TK could use a quiet Christmas with the man he loved.
"Sometimes things don't go the way we want them to," Marjan started, a soft smile on her lips, "But I'm sure whatever you guys do, as long as you're together, it will be good," She consoled.
It was true, TK should be thankful that he was getting to see Carlos at all today, "Thank you Marjan," TK said with sincerity. The bell sounded around them and TK groaned, "Like I said Christmas miracle," Marjan and TK sprang from their seats to another call
---
TK slumped back into the seat of the truck, his eyes staring up at the truck roof. He couldn't bare to look down at his watch, he knew it was hours past six o'clock, there had been a several car pile-up on the highway and the crew had spent hours pulling people from cars, putting out fires and moving debris. When he had arrived at the scene he had texted Carlos that he might be little late, he just didn't predict how late that would be. The truck pulled into the lot and the crew jumped out. Tk rolled his neck, finally bringing himself to look at his watch.
11:15pm. TK cursed, shaking his head. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see his dad stood there, his brows pulled together.
"I know you were looking forward to Christmas dinner son, I'm sorry," He comforted.
"It's alright,"  It wasn't  but he knew his dad felt bad even though it wasn't his fault and TK didn't want to make him feel worse. TK forced a smile on his face, pulling his gear off and placing it on the side, "Wanna get outta here, could grab a take away," he asked. Carlos would be asleep by now, he had a 5am start the next day and TK had told him if he was super late, to just go to sleep.
The falling smile and ducked head gave TK his answer before his father spoke, "I gotta finish these reports, I'm sorry," TK just nodded, heading upstairs to grab a shower.
After his shower, he threw on one of Carlos police jumpers he kept in his locker and a comfy pair of joggers. TK began to head out of the lot, pulling his phone out to leave a voicemail for Carlos. After a few rings, Carlos picked up, "Hey, I thought you'd be asleep," TK said sounding surprised.
"Wanted to speak to you after your shift," He said, it didn't sound like TK had just woken him, so why was Carlos still awake? "I heard about the accident," Carlos softly spoke.
TK slipped into his car, shaking his head again, "I'm sorry-"
"Hey, you don't need to apologise," Carlos sternly said, his voice still soft. "Comes with the job right," Carlos said, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah," TK muttered, the mood around him still feeling heavy.
"Why don't you come over," Carlos said.
"I don't wanna keep you up, you've got an early shift tomorrow," TK said, knowing how important it was to get rest before a long shift, "And I've still gotta grab something to eat," He said, his stomach reminding him of how little he had eaten today. In theory, TK could eat what was supposed to be their Christmas dinner but TK wasn't sure he could handle that, the whole experience feeling like salt in the wound.
"it's fine, I've got food here," Carlos said. TK bite his lip, he didn't want to keep Carlos awake, plus TK could already tell he was going to be in a less than happy mood this evening and he didn't want to upset Carlos, "I just want to see you," Carlos said, clearly sensing TK's apprehension.
TK thought about what Marjan said, it wasn't there plan, but at least they could see each other for the 30 minutes left of Christmas day, "I'm on my way," TK smiled.
He pulled up outside the apartment, stepping out of the car and walking up to the door, knocking on it. A minute later Carlos opened it, dressed in a dark blue shirt and jeans, positioning himself in a way that blocked TK's view of inside.
"Hey," Carlos smiled.
"Hey," TK breathed. Carlos moved to the side and let TK into the house. TK stepped inside, leaning over to kiss Carlos, lingering for a moment before turning to walk further into the house.
TK froze.
The table was trimmed and set, crackers and candles in the centre. In the middle sat rows and dished of food. He felt Carlos come to stand next to him, "I know how much you were looking forward to dinner," Carlos started, "I dropped by the station earlier so see you and they said you were on a call, I asked them to let me know when you were on your way back," He said. TK blinked away the tears that had gathered in the corners of his eyes, "It's still technically Christmas for another 20 minutes," He said. TK walked forward his eyes still scanning the table.
"Carlos this is..." TK gasped, dropping his bag next to him, trying to find the words that would encompass how grateful he was. He turned around to see Carlos smiling at him, "Amazing," TK said, still lost for words. Carlos walked towards the table, pulling a chair out. TK walked over taking a seat, Carlos walked over and sat across from him.
TK reached over, placing his hand on Carlos causing the man to look up at him, TK squeezed his hand, "Thank you, this means...a lot to me" he said in earnest. Carlos turned his hand over and squeezed TK's back. Both men then pulled their hands back, looking down at their food and beginning their dinner.
TK placed his napkin down, leaning back in his chair, "That was incredible," TK breathed, positive he couldn't eat another thing even though he wanted to.
"My mom's recipe," Carlos smiled.
TK leaned forward in his chair, his brow raised, "So does that mean I get to eat this again tomorrow," He asked, earning a nod from Carlos, "This really is the best Christmas," TK said, Carlos laughing from across the table. TK pushed his chair back, standing up and walking over to the Christmas tree, pulling out a wrapped present he had hidden under there, "I know it's not the 25th anymore but I thought we could still do presents," TK said. Carlos smiled, standing up from the table coming to join TK who was now sat on the sofa next to the tree. Carlos came to sit next to TK, who was holding out the present.
Carlos placed a kiss on TK's lips before taking the present and unwrapping it. TK watched as Carlos stared down at the photo frame in his hand.
TK bite his lip, fidgeting with his hands, "I remember when we went to your moms last month you said you loved that photo of you and your family," TK glanced his eyes down to the photo of a young Carlos surrounded by his family, an oak frame around the photo him, "I spoke to her and managed to get a copy," TK said, realising that he was beginning to ramble a little as he noticed Carlos's silence, "Do you like it," He tentatively asked.
Carlos looked over at TK, taking his hand in his, "TK I love it," He beamed. Carlos used his other hand to brush his thumb over his families face, that sweet soft smile on his face, "Thank you," he said, raising TK's hand to his lips to press a light kiss on them. Carlos stood up and walked over to the side table, placing the photo on there, smiling back at TK. He walked back over to the tree, leaning down to pick up a small box, coming to sit next to TK, "This is yours," He said, holding the box in his hand for a while before he held it out to TK.
TK took it, noticing that Carlos was holding his lower lip between his teeth, "You seem nervous," TK joked, holding the box in his hand. Carlos gave a small laugh, only confirming TK's suspicions, "You cooked the best Christmas dinner ever and stayed up for me, whatever this is it will be amazing," TK assured, sure that Carlos himself was the only gift TK needed. He pulled the ribbon off the top of the wrapping paper, tearing into it to reveal a small silver box, TK opened the top to reveal a key inside. TK cocked his head to the side, it looked like the key to Carlos, “A key to your place?” TK asked, he looked up to see Carlos nodding. “Don't I already have one?” TK said, not sure what he was missing.
“No you have the spare key,” Carlos clarified. He had given TK his spare key a few months ago so TK could come over late after work while Carlos was asleep. “I was thinking…” Carlos said, before stopping, running his tongue over his lips. “I was thinking you could put that one back, and have your own actual key to…" Carlos paused taking a deep breath, "Our place,” He finished.
TK looked down at the key again, then back at Carlos, his eye’s narrowed, “Our place?” TK started, his brain jumping to the conclusion he wanted it to be but not wanting to assume anything. “Are you,” TK said, clearing his throat before he continued, “Are you asking me to move in with you?” He said, his voice breathy.
Carlos smiled, biting his lip for a second before giving a simple nod, “Yeah, if you want to,” He said, trying to sound casual. TK picked the key up from the box, turning it over in his hand, before squeezing tight around it. He turned to Carlos, finding he looked blurrier, TK blinked a few times trying to clear his vision.
"Yes," He laughed, his voice full of emotion, "Yes I wanna move in with you," He grinned. TK launched forward, pulling Carlos in for a kiss, one hand on his check the other still wrapped around the key. Carlos moved his hands forward and wrapped them around TK's hips, almost pulling him into Carlos's lap. TK pulled back, his breathing heavy and his forehead resting on Carlos, "I love you so much," TK said, emotion flooding his voice.
Carlos reached out and placed his own hand on TK's cheek, "I love you too," Carlos breathed, "Merry Christmas TK," He said, lowering his hand to entwine it with TK's free one.
"Merry Christmas Carlos," TK smiled, giving Carlos another kiss. After a moment of pure contentment, the boys pulled back. Carlos shifted on the sofa, and TK moved to snuggle into his side, his head resting on his chest as Carlos's arm wrapped around his shoulder. TK looked down at the silver key on his hand, the candlelight reflecting off it. It was no longer just a silver key, it was their future, and everything they had to look forward to. TK curled tighter into Carlos side. Today had not been what he had thought it would be, in his mind the plans he had this morning would lead to the perfect Christmas, but as TK glanced down at the key in his hand and the photo on their side table TK was sure, beyond any doubt that this was the perfect Christmas.

In the scene where Marjan is taking everyone’s photo (and behind TK when he and Carlos are in the kitchen), Gwen is wearing the same outfit as in the scene where they’re all clapping for Owen. I think this is a party to celebrate Owen’s last chemo session or him being in remission, but there’s every chance it could be something else.

So many FOX shows are doing the surface diversity thing, but Lonestar and Prodigal son are the two I had to quit because every POC revolves around the white leads and have no characterization/plot outside of that. They get the occasional reactionary one-liner or a killer outfit, act as the primary therapists for white characters, and that somehow translates into them being labeled a 'badass cinamon roll' without the show actually putting in the work. And as long as the POC characters are romantically tied to some white dude, most of the show fandom doesn't even care that much. It's what happened with Maria on RNM, and I see the same thing with Carlos on Lonestar and the WOC on Prodigal son. The talent is absolutely there with the actors, and the network/writers just doesn't give a damn.
It’s the way actors of colour has to jump through 1000 hoops and still aren’t offered what should be the bare minimum. That’s truly hard to watch.
Fox should realise their performative wokeness doesn’t at any point come across sincere. Especially when the diverse characters aren’t treated in the same way a white or sometimes a straight character is offered.
You have Gina Torres who is a pretty famous figurehead not getting a quarter of the plot’s Liz Tyler’s character had. What’s the point of creating all these diverse characters if you don’t offer them the attention. Paul, Marjan and Mateo are just walking mouthpieces. It’s so depressing.
