"Doomed by the narrative" is sexy and all but i think the narrative wanting to save a character who is utterly set on dooming themselves isnt as much of a thing and it's so good as a concept
I do sort of wish western anime fans would analyze anime and manga from a framework of japanese historical and cultural context. Specifically a lot of works from the 90s being influenced by the general aimlessness and ennui that a lot of people were experiencing due to the burst in the bubble economy and the national trauma caused by the sarin terrorist attack. I think in interacting with media that’s not local to our sociocultural/sociopolitical sphere it’s easy to forget that it’s influenced and shaped by the same kinds of factors that influence media within our own cultural dome and there ends up being this baseline misalignment of perception between the causative elements of a narrative and viewer interpretation of those elements. It’s a form of death of the author that i think, in some measure, hinders our ability to fully understand/come to terms with creator intent and the full scope of a work’s merits
Girls love me because i can get them to read omniscient reader's viewpoint. My green flag is that i am a fan of omniscient reader's viewpoint. My favorite thing to talk about right now is omniscient reader's viewpoint. People are enraptured by my tirades about omniscient reader's viewpoint. I am usually thinking about omniscient reader's viewpoint. Why aren't you reading omniscient reader's viewpoint
trigun au where the story is unchanged only the Project SEEDS spaceships also had internet router boxes and satellite functions built into the plants so functionally internet exists and meryl manages the bernardelli insurance corporate twitter account and goes full wendy's on people
We should start saying child rights are human rights the same way we say trans rights are human rights. They are two sides of the same coin. Young people are dehumanized and stripped of autonomy in the process of being reduced to a capitalist marketing fad that fetishizes youth, they are legally defined as being their guardians' property, they are institutionalized by an ineffective and hostile education system from the ripe old age of five years old, barring which there exist limited (if any) legal protections for children who are homeschooled, and socially they are demeaned and stereotyped as stupid, reckless, and ignorant, weaponizing the parable of Underdevelopment to conflate adolescence with negative personality traits (i.e. bioessentialism). It's dystopic how much our society sidelines and renders kids invisible!!! Of course kids want to be grow up and be taken more seriously if their environment does nothing but devalue their existence, and of course you'd want to go back to being a child as an adult if being an adult has been defined to you as a symbol of cruelty and apathy.
it would rule if we treated types of attractions and relationships like we treat gender identity i.e. as a multifaceted spectrum that is inherently undefinable an account of its diversity and the fact that multiple people might experience a category of identity differently from each other. like just start calling people my girlfriend wife or my boyfriend in law.
Isnt it insane the more you think about it like mochijun literally named her main character "Noah's Ark, The Archivist" and no one ever talks about it because his homoromantic compatriot is "Life Is Meaningless And We're All Doomed -Guy Who Is The Most Doomed" and on top of that theres a woman who carries Joan of Arc's brand to a T. And theyre in the world's most toxic and codependent polycule with a fourth woman who may as well be called Ms. Little Sadist
Ohhh god the way Trimax is like. How do we exist without violence is it an ontological necessity for humanity is it the natural consequence of our flawed natures is there any way out of the cycle. What is salvation and mercy when remaining alive can only mean remaining subject to cruelty. And then it's like. Humanity is full of so much hope we cling by our fingernails to the edges of hope always because we are full of limitless kindness and Together, Together, we want to believe we can survive and THAT is what makes us beautiful. Violence is not its own perpetual eternity but the lack of warmth, and when someone chooses to be that warmth it is worth every ounce of every tear you've ever shed
