Reguri Week 2022 for day 5 - a mix of the prompts returning home + ancient regions (part 1 | part 2) (fic)
cw: angst i guess, not a fun time even tho it's ❤️💚 week
thought i'd pull from my Faller!Blue au for this one!
Blue has come back from a rather life-changing trip from ancient Kanto! Unfortunately, he brought back a lot of baggage with him so lmao he'll be weary of Red for some time while he gets used to things again
Tumblr media
if anybody's interested i'll try to write more bulleted lists like this cause i do have other characters in this au too like leaf's ancestor & other members of the royal fam, just let me know
faller blue in color but i cant decide which one

Time to cause complete and utter chaos. Faller gene au, but it's also lunar duo au. So when Eliza gets sent to the future she just sees her father. Just vibin' with his brother. Does the family stay with Ingo or Ingo? Only Ingo knows. And Ingo isn't keen on sharing, because he doesn't want to mess up the timeline. Maybe Akari is also there. Eliza is so confused why Akari is there. Wasn't she also in the past? Maybe Eliza and Emil are also part pokemon in this au due to Ingo being merged with Darkrai?
Took me awhile to figure out why Ingo would have left his kids in the past before I realized you were probably referring to the version where Ingo and Akari are immortal! Anyways, I would never merge the faller gene au with that particular version of the lunar duo au because I can't stand the thought of Ingo watching his kids grow old and die while he remains unchanged. Sucks!
But yeah, if Ingo had kids in that AU, they'd probably be a little funky due to being merged with Pokemon. They'd probably both have blue eyes like Ingo does after getting merged with Darkrai, and they'd definitely be able to understand Pokemon... but I think that's the upper limit of it. Otherwise they'd be mostly human!

Some insight on Arceus in my Devil's Train fic/au (Emmet gets sent through the rift by Giratina to find Ingo and the distortion of space/time turns him into a smol child):
Arceus is a relatively hands-off deity, but that isn't out of a lack of caring about those who live in the Pokemon world. The reason it stays out of things is more to preserve the agency of the people and their ability to develop and gain experience. Arceus will interfere if necessary in order to keep the universe from being destroyed, but through others rather than taking direct action.
Arceus didn't send Lucas back against his will. Sure the time travel was sprung a bit out of the blue, but Lucas was willing to do the task, partly because it sounded cool and partly because if Arceus asks you to do something chances are it's rather important.
Arceus did not send Ingo back in time, and while it finds Ingo's situation regrettable, as with any of the Ultra Wormhole Fallers, it can't go around putting every displaced person ever back where they came from. If Arceus fixed everyone's problems all the time, they wouldn't have to opportunity to learn/gain life experience from the situation. It is not completely opposed to helping him get back, just not through the method of solving everyone's problems for them.
Arceus's stance on Emmet's situation would be more similar to Ingo's if not for the fact that it was the direct actions of Giratina that caused it and the distortion energy in Emmet was way too strong. Chances are he would not have survived if Arceus didn't lessen the energy in his body

i have come up with an extremely self indulgent au and i needed to write down all of these thoughts Somewhere. so what if the extra characters from other regions (ykno like. the battle tree characters) in alola were all fallers from universes where shit went horribly wrong! and in this specific universe something happened to everyones counterpart so none of them are recognized as whatever they are... because they Aren't That in this world.
so cynthia isnt recognized as yknow the fucking sinnoh champion. she doesnt remember shit from her world, she doesnt even remember galarian well enough to properly communicate at first. (she. hit her head real hard on top of faller amnesia lol) once she's physically recovered from being very aggressively thrown into this world tho she's. fine really. vaguely traumatized but overall having a great time in alola! ...when shes not suffering from the heat, anyway
and this is where i throw in faller! caitlin and grimsley too :-) ive always looked at grimsley in alola and thought. wow hes seen some shit. and i love caitlin and think adding her in here could be really funny so. theyre both here and from the same world. they have seen the horrors. caitlin decides to pretend like nothing bad happened and is literally just vibing. grimsley not so much.
oh colress is also a faller in this but i havent thought much about him yet.
wally has also seen the horrors. kukui adopts him along with lillie. (i think in this au wally wouldve shown up first?) wow kukui who let you have Two very nice but traumatized children.
im tryna decide what i wanna do with red and blue. would be kinda funny if i made them fallers as well. same with sina and dexio?????? idk.
i dont Really have an actual plot for this yet but it's prolly usum since that makes more sense than regular sun/moon.... my brain is slowly emptying the more i write so. uh. yeah teehee funny alola fallers au

Hmmm. Okay. I keep feeling that there's something missing from TLH that makes it feel complete. Now, that's probably the lack of a timeline that I keep forgetting about, BUT I also have another opposing force in the mix: Team Rainbow Rocket. Now I've been avoiding talking about them bc talking about them would mean talking about Poppy, who was very under characterized with no real backstory. Now, he's still in development, but him being a faller has helped me piece together who he could be and how he plays as a protagonist for usum. Rainbow Rocket doesn't even appear until the end of USUM. I don't know if Poppy has actually encountered them or not, since they end up becoming a rival to TLH for a period of time.
Here's what I do know/ ideas that I think would be cool:
Each leader is essentially Cursed-Chosen. I'm adding Chosen cause they ended up winning in their timeline, so something gotta balance out the Curse that the legends pokemon has placed on them.
So yes, these guys have powers of their own alongside their given legendary. This guys are a threat.
The members of Rainbow Rocket are the ones seen in the post game, with the addition of Lusamine from a different dimension. Rose and Colress I'm debating on though. Not Rose from this au, he would refuse their offer( given that he did ultimately win in the end/hj),and alternate reality Rose. Same with legends! Colress, I feel like Eva has eagle eyes on him so even if he wanted to join( he is slightly curious) he wouldn't.
For Admins, I know for a fact that there's a RR! Silver, one who never doubted that his father was the best and continues to push his ideology onto others.
Maybe an RR! Blue or Red? I already got TLH! Green, so I'm left with those. I wouldn't be surprised if Giovanni tried to make Red or Blue a weapon on his side. I think Blue might be more interesting, only because he was the more "weak willed " of the two. Giovanni would know where to strike the child where it hurts, making him feel vulnerable enough to strike. Not saying that Blue would join willingly - hell no. This is Blue we're talking about. No, this is an abduction. He must likely get mind controlled and turned into a super soldier( Giovanni keeps him in line by mentioning how maybe if he chose Rec, he wouldn't be so disappointed all the time).
Yeah, that would probably mean RR! Blue and RR! Silver would but heads a lot.
Not entirely sure if I would add rivals or other canon characters to RR's ranks. I feel like they're pretty stacked already.
....okay maybe RR! Shauna. Maybe.
Okay to actually plot stuff: they are basically competitors with TLH for 1) gathering Legendaries and 2) Finding a way to break apart a Chosen and Chooser. As a refresher, this formula for that was created by Sakura and Volo individually, but not together. Both sides thought the thing wasn't complete and ditched the project, not knowing the other had the missing link. Lysandre is probably the one who really kickstarts this, however. Someway or another, he had gotten his hands on Volo's half of the formula and has been experimenting with it ever since. Once TLH got wind of this, it started a back and forth of who has the formula and even funnier, who has Volo( I think it would be funny if he was being thrown around like a football ).
So basically, the job of the Chosens is to stop TLH and RR and make sure the legendaries aren't being interfered with in general and do whatever their day job is. Pour one out for Jude y'all. He's gonna fucking need it.
The only good thing about the TLH - RR rivalry is that they are often going to focus on each other, wasting resources on each other. This makes it slightly easier for the Chosens to divide and conquer. Slightly.
And I think that's it? For now. I....really need to make a timeline, fucking hell.

okay milesverse lore post but for the siblings uh yay
red green and silver
okay they're kinda weird. red and silver are half brothers (same dad) and green is red from an au that got eebied into the main timeline as a little kid (fun fact her name in the timeline she came from was leaf but she renamed herself green because 1) she forgor and 2) she wanted to match red and blue). green was adopted by red's mom after she fell anyway so uh yeah.
green learns that she's a faller a little bit after rgby after red went missing but doesn't learn she is literally red from a different timeline until rainbow rocket. yes she is the red of rr giovanni's timeline.
silver learned that red took down team rocket and immediately went "woag this guy is so strong and took down my shitty dad so i need him to mentor me so i can also get strong." but then red disappeared and silver immediately assumed that team rocket kidnapped him or something. red is actually peeping the horrors on mount silver instead but no one knows that
so during gsc he impersonates red (keep in mind they don't know they're related at this point) and steals totodile. he goes around beating the shit out of random team rocket members and getting annoyed by ethan, lyra, and kris (mostly ethan) who keep accidentally running into him. ethan immediately learns that silver isn't red because 1) silver dropped his trainer id and 2) ethan is huge gigantic red super fan who's dream is to become so strong that he surpasses him in strength so of course he recognizes silver looks nothing like red
post gsc ethan, silver, and blue (who has been helping against team rocket under the alias "gary" and wearing his pokespe cape during gsc along with lance i guess he was there too) go to kanto to look for red together. they also go through the celebi event and silver beats up his dad but that's besides the point.
when they're pallet town they meet green. silver and green become besties. do they know reaction image. also blue and green hate eachother because of the whole red missing thing but that's off topic.
anyway they eventually find red. awkward family reunion. yippee. im talking way too much about them moving on
hilda and nate
ceos of ignoring the plot. hilda and nate used to live near hilbert cheren and bianca but moved away to nimbasa before the events of b1w1. hilda is a pretty minor character in b1w1 honestly she's just grinding the battle subway.
her little brother nate though actually travels with rosa and hugh. admittedly it's just so he can train up a team so he can also grind on the battle subway but he's having fun. while rosa and hugh have team plasma related angst he's just kinda chilling the background eating popcorn with his oshawott. he's just a silly guy. he looks up to his big sister a lot
selene and elio
both of them act as the protagonists in sm and are twins. selene does most of the story stuff while elio focuses on the island challenge. basically selene gets to be gay with girlfriend lillie while elio fights for his life against the beasts. elio is the serious one while selene is the silly one.
there's a gag where selene's pikachu (off topic but every protag except lucas and elio has a pikachu on their team) keeps stealing elio's hat which always annoys him. elio eventually gets a mimikyu which pops out to fight pikachu whenever that happens
gloria and victor
they fucking hate eachother. victor (the older one) thinks gloria is annoying and egotistical while gloria thinks victor is a loser and failure. victor went on the gym challenge before gloria and gave up before kabu. gloria started to resent him for giving up and started to call leon her real older brother because of how much of a loser she thinks victor is.
victor just wants to go to culinary school but once gloria gets her sobble and gets ready to go on her journey their mom forces victor to go with them. he basically becomes the brock of the group but if brock was the biggest hater ever.

Ok so Ara and my version of Akari would be far too powerful as friends, so I cannot have them together or else they'd have swept through the game so quickly it wouldn't even be funny. Together, they'd probably cut the time it takes to complete the Pokédex in half. Anyways in Akari's au/continuation arc, she does actually meet Ara's ancestors and I want to put a whole little cast here
Akari: created by Arceus as a copy of Dawn. Due to their drastically different environments, Akari became a lot more forceful than Dawn is the only word I can think of right now. Tracking down Volo with a vengeance and also a desire to save the world. Her Pokemon are Typhlosion, Decidueye, Samurott, Wyrdeer, Goodra, and an alpha Sneasler
Professor Cypress: A professor from Paldea studying the Pokemon of the Unova region. She was inspired by Akari and Laventon's work on the Hisuian Pokedex to create one of her own. Journeys with Akari and the others because she wants to help save the world and study Pokemon along the way.
Benjamin: Ara's ancestor! :D He has the same purple hair and blue eyes as our favorite gal <3 He's also the sheriff of Castelia Town, and one of the few Pokemon users in Unova. His partners are Tim the Watchog and Zeebo the Zebstrika. (My friend named Zeebo.) Also, once the whole saving the world fiasco is over, he's going to finally marry his fiance, Charlotte
Kazuo: A merchant of the Gingko Guild who accidentally stumbled along on this whole saving the world adventure. Honestly I don't know what he's doing there. He was the one who initially informed Akari that Volo was going to Unova but other than that he's kinda just filling out the team
Gem: Kazuo's adopted daughter! Also an Ultra Faller just cause. We don't exactly know what world she's from because a) nobody knows what an Ultra Caller is b) she has amnesia and c) she is mute. They kinda just found her in the middle of a forest fire one day and Kazuo decided to adopt her. She might be the origin of ten-year-olds who go on world-saving adventures, and does have one Pokemon at the time: a Happiny! Who does evolve over the course of the journey. Honestly, Gem might become a pretty strong battler one day but idk. Can you tell I don't think my oc plotlines all the way through.
Anyways they all go on a funny little road trip across unova to stop Volo from using the power of the legendary dragons to end the world again. Benjamin WILL arrest him and the epilogue would probably be the wedding

Now the Blood is Pouring Red
Chapter 4 of “Shoot to Kill, Shoot to Kill You”, inspired by @brandwhorestarscream’s Hindsight AU.
Matchbox didn't understand what was going on. Her carrier had held her back from going to school and her sire seemed just as… What was the word? Par… para… paranoid! That was the word. Her creators were paranoid, but she didn't know why. Whenever Matchbox asked, they refused to answer. That was weird, she decided.
It… didn't help when those giant cyberbirds dived out of the clouds. They looked really pretty, but when they appeared her creators seemed to freak out. She didn't understand. The fire they dropped was bright though.
Matchbox was suddenly picked up, and the white and red sparkling looked at her creators. Her carrier, the beautiful white and blue he was, had a faceplate that spoke of terror. Her sire, the beautiful ruby red she was, wasn't much better.
"Carrier?" Matchbox questioned as he pressed her to his chest and bolted into the streets. A noise she couldn't identify rang out, and Matchbox felt the fear radiate from her creators and everyone else around them. "Carrier, what's going—"
Matchbox went quiet and her optics went wide as metallic bricks and building plating collapsed around them. She heard her sire scream, along with the flare of terror from all around her and the noises of everything assaulted her audials.
"SIRE!" Matchbox screeched as her carrier gripped onto her. "Sire! Sire!" she continued to scream, attempting to reach back and her vocalized crackling.
"Reverse!" somebot yelled, though Matchbox barely paid attention to it. Where did Sire go? Why couldn't she feel the bond she had with her Sire? Why was there so much noise?
"Faller!" her carrier called and suddenly, Matchbox was thrust into the arms of a bot she didn't know. Her carrier's field screamed of fear and he said, "Go! Save Match!"
"CARRIER!" Matchbox screeched, suddenly realizing what was happening. Faller, whoever that was, immediately moved Matchbox to some sort of chassis compartment and shut her in there.
The Sparkling's voice box crackled with overuse, but she got out one more desperate cry before she felt her connection with her carrier snap.
"CARRIER!"
-()-
Skirmish trembled, hiding in the melting rubble and with acidic burns over his arms and body. His field was tucked so close to her body, refusing to let any of the seekers spot him. He crawled to the edge of his hiding place, hidden optics wide with fear as he looked out.
One of the Winglord's mates, one he couldn't hope to recognize, screeched in some Vosian language as they clawed open the helm of some other two-wheeler. Skirmish doesn't recognize them, but his tanks churned with nausea.
So much blood.
There was so much Energon. So much of it was spilt all over.
Skirmish held in a rattling shake as some of the Vosian army nearby approached the Winglord's trine mate. One of them seemed to say something, causing the mate to screech some other thing in reply. Most of the troops scattered in response, though one stayed back to help the collapsing Lord Trine member.
Skirmish hid his helm from the chaos, refusing to let his trembles alert anyone to where he was.
He missed Thrashclaw. Where was she? She always protected him! Where was Thrashclaw? Subconsciously, Skirmish activated his translator, then backed away to return to the scrap pile.
It was better than going out there. If he waited until they all left, he could run. He could find Thrashclaw.
Yea…
Just find Thrashclaw… Everything will be fine…
Just stay hidden until then.
-()-
"Better run, better run, better run!" he called with a Vosian screech, a grin across his face as he clawed at the neck of a fleeing two-wheeler. Droplet shuddered, wings clattering at the feeling of pure, absolute joy filtering through his system. It was so nice ruining these grounders, taking back what they did to their young princes.
"Commander Blitzkrieg!" some other seeker called, causing Droplet to look over. A large armored seeker landed. Their armor was tan and purple, their faceplate covered with a mask that made them appear with crazy red optics and a red manic grin.
Blitzkrieg looked towards some of the still standing buildings before yelling, "Turn everything to dust!"
Droplet felt a grin come across his face and he moved with the unit he was within to continue their strike.
Altihex would forever pay for their crimes.
-()-
Glacius stayed hidden under the collapsed hospital, absentmindedly using his strange ice ability to cool himself from the fires raging all around the area. He shook his helm, flicking spilled Energon from his helm before he crawled forward to the edge of the mess.
Immediately, he backed away as a seeker landed just in front of the scrap pile, yelling something. Glacius pulled his field close to him, optics wide as another drop of Energon landed on his helm.
Was Smelter still alive? Where was his brother?
The air and ground shaked and Glacius curled into himself. The rubble above him collapsed and he released a pained yelp as a piece crushed his leg. He whimpered as Energon spilled out from the limb and he slowly began making an ice construct to get the rubble off his leg. As he did so, he covered his leg in ice.
He hoped Smelter was still alive.
-()-
Smelter was panicking. Was Glacius alive? Where was his brother?
The black and orange minibot quickly got out of the rushing horde of bots, ducking into a building and prodding his bond with his brother. The response he got was pain and Smelter released a vented whine. He wished so much he was with his brother, he didn't want to lose him.
Smelter looked up as screeching filled the air, then bolted out of the building as it began to collapse in on itself. He got out just in time, but got sweeped into the rushing horde.
For once, he was glad his frame's old heat ability didn't flood his HUD with overheating warning. Smelter bolted through the noise and rushing of frames, ignoring the acid rain pelting his body.
He ignored the drop of Energon from somebot as it dripped onto his helm.
He hoped Glacius was still alive.
-()-
Bounce was glad for once he was on watch duty for the illegal selling and trading hub the minibots used. He was also glad he didn't close the plate right away when that dark purple minibot left. He definitely made it look like he closed it all the way, but that's besides the point.
So when the dark purple minibot looked towards the city, then promptly bolted away from the city, Bounce closed the plate fully and turned to go down.
"Hey, something big is happening topside!" Bounce called out. That seemed to gain the attention of the majority of the other minibots, causing the mood of the area to rapidly change. The others seemed to notice the change in mood as some of the other minibots- one of the largest ones, actually- pulled a strange screen from the wall (which, excuse him, what in the Pits?) and turned it on.
Everybot turned towards the screen as it lit up. It showed views from various cameras hidden around Altihex, but some of the cameras just returned with static. All the ones that weren't inside of buildings revealed a burning city being destroyed by seekers, their rains and flares and weapons ruining everything in sight.
The entire room is silent, and he swears he hears somebot whisper, "Scrap."
The air turned grim as they all watched the screen, as one by one the camera's relays turned off with the destruction. Noise of the attack began to ring down towards the hidden area. Without warning, the screen suddenly shut off and the roof collapsed.
Bounce felt himself get crushed under the weight of the ground, barely hearing the panicked and fear filled screeches all around him. He froze as he was pinned to the ground and saw Energon be splattered away from some other crushed minibot. There was another rumble, then everything went dark.
-()-
"Sire, where's carrier?" the small dark blue sparkling asked, greyish faceplate looking up at her sire. On her helm was a yellow, four pointed star-like shape, one of its points going between her bright blue eyes. Her sire, a black and gold two-wheeler, kept her close to his chassis and did his best to hide her away from the acid rain and just everything going on around them.
"It'll be ok, my Star," her sire repeated, gripping a servo to her shoulder, then suddenly reacting to something as another sharp noise rang out. Star looked towards the collapsed building and her vocalizer locked up as she saw Energon slowly flow from the rubble.
-()-
That day, almost everybot saw spilled Energon.

Ultra Recon Cyrus AU
Because I don’t have enough AUs rattling about in my skull already.
This is basically an AU in which Cyrus had failed his plan, getting pulled into the Distortion World and stuck there for eternity. But, while venturing about the place, he missed his step off an island and plummeted into an Ultra Wormhole, which inevitably spat him out in Ultra Megalopolis.
As a Faller, Cyrus lost virtually all of his memories, except for his surname, and he struggles to remember his past because of the new environment being so separate from the normal world. He learns to adapt to life in Ultra Megalopolis, which is easy enough since he still retains his inherent skill in technology. His eyes have gotten less used to natural light, earning him headaches if out in it too long, and he’s become a bit near sighted. His skin has turned slightly blue from the time spent there, although he is nowhere on the level of the actual residents of the city.
Once the Recon Squad is formed, he joins it, looking to find a way to contribute his skill. The fact the group would be going through various realities would be a major help, assuming they landed in the world he was from. Cyrus winds up becoming their token battler, as his proficient skill in pokemon battles begins to return to him over the course of their journey.
Inevitably, Cyrus has small memories float back to him as he journeys with the Squad. Sometimes its from creatures he sees, sometimes its from the world around him.. He feels uneasy. Almost as if he’s better off not tapping into his past. Yet, he persists, keeping to the groups goal of assisting Necrozma so it would not consume the light of other worlds.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, for him, there is a duplicate of himself from a world where he won, lurking about a villainous castle after Necrozma is dealt with. A journey back to the Aether Foundation for Beast Balls might chance a meeting..
The man who once wanted to destroy the universe and start it again as its sun is now the sun for a lightless world, working to prevent universal calamity. But would he keep to the good path, with his lack of memory, or remember everything, and return to his plans?

its 1 am and im thinking about pokemon AUs
It’s late, I’m tired and english is not my first language so sorry in advance i guess.
Ok so submas and PLA lore has been consuming my mind. I’ve been enjoying a lot of submas content, specially emmet is mad at god and wants revenge submas content. And I’m of course overthinking this a lot but i have such a cool scenario in my mind i want to share.
Okay so we know that Arceus had the power to change into all types and created the universe or whatever, but now it also has the power to send people through time and space with ominous holes in the sky. The fist time i saw this i thought of ultrawormholes, and the whole faller concept, even if the appearance of the portals is not exactly the same. This immediatelly makes me think of alola because obviously.
In sun and moon we meet the Aether Foundation and the Lusamine family. It’s implied that Mohn, Lusamines husband and a researcher, fell through an ultrawormhole and lost his memories and that was really traumatic. That would be a catalyst to investigate the UBs and the portals in order to save her husband and that’s a reason why the AF does a lot of their experiments (appart from the whole Lusamine is crazy and loves beauty thing). One of these experiments that always seemed out of place for me even if i love them is the RKS project aka Type:Null and Sylvally. I think you know where this is going.
The foundation created 3 specimens of an artificial pokemon called Type:Full with the objective of it being a UB Killer. In the development they added the RKS System to replicate Arceus’ type changing abilities to make it powerful, BUT if we add a little bit of fanfic au magic it may also be so that they can open interdimensional portals like the original Arceus (it would help in the UB killer thing RIGHT? it makes sense RIGHT?). The experiments went badly and they were scrapped, called Type:Null and saved by Gladion and then apparently replicated in Sword and Shield.
Ok, so after setting this up my thesis is that we should give Emmet a Sylvally so that he could go fight pokegod with a man made replica of itself.
I really have to think more about this, but it has so much potential. Emmet goes to Alola, maybe with Elesa in a new outfit, to learn about wormholes and Type:Null. You also have Colress and Grimsley already there so they could be helping or investigating together. Cynthia, aka a VOLO conection, is also there for Sinnoh lore and Looker, Annabel (another faller), the sun and moon cast, Red, Blue and Wally could also help in some way. I would also add some other characters i like for self indulgence (really want Thorton to interact with the submas). Everything is of course fanfiction and not an actual theory but i’m really excited about developing it more and maybe drawing things ehehehehe.
PD: When I think about posting anything on the internet i’m always afraid if someone has already written about it, so if someone else thought of this, you are cool and id like to talk about pokemon lore with you <3

another short little comic for my Faller!Blue AU (previous post)
I've also written an accompanying fic this time if you're interested in checking it out!
Day 5: ancient regions + returning home (faller!blue au)
Blue has an encounter with a glowing crack in the sky, an Ultra Wormhole. In the next blink of an eye, he’s Vir of the Royal Orchid Family. There’s something inside him that bellows, resounding deep within the depths of his muddled mind, of how he’s forgotten something important. (In which Blue falls through an Ultra Wormhole, forgets his life, and starts anew.)
cw: time travel, amnesia, minor character death? (old ancient people die), original characters, murder, a lot of exposition before the shippy stuff, mistaken identity
.// it's 8k+ words but I've left out a good bit so i'm open to answering questions about them! also, i'd like to thank everyone who's been so nice in my notes/tags! you guys really keep me going! ^u^

Just gonna mix two aus here, so Ingo is reincarnated as Nobori, but faller gene happens anyways. Maybe Ingo died early while protecting his children from an angry alpha? But now Eliza gets to Unova and gets to meet her dad again. But he's way tougher and looks different, but the man in white assures her this is him, so it has to be! He even acts the same!
oOOgh, Ingo would absolutely die to protect his kids too. Just throws himself into the line of fire to keep them safe and gives them lifelong trauma. It's very sad for everyone in Hisui, especially the twins! They grow up without their father, until one day Eliza falls through a portal to Unova and his greeted by a man in blue who looks like her father and a kid in purple a little older than her who looks alarmed to see her.
She finds out that the man in blue is her father's twin brother... and the kid in purple is actually her father, who apparently was reborn in modern day Sinnoh. What. I mean, she's glad to have a chance to see her dad again!! But. What. And he's barely older than her!!!
I don't know if the twins would end up coming to live in Unova or not, but Ingo would be glad to see them again and that they're doing well... although he probably avoids Zisu. It's just. a little awkward seeing your wife from your past life when you are currently a 14 year old boy.

for the fanfic ask game: F, G, K, and R maybe?
ooooooo, all right!~
F: well it said a snippet of one of my favorite dialogue scenes but. i'm just going to use this as an excuse to share a deleted scene that didn't make it into the final fic, but i'm reaalllllly proud of.
“Don’t. Fucking. Touch me,” Elle growled, stance shifting defensively. “My apologies. I won’t.” Elle watched her then a little longer, like a cornered pokemon. Cyllene stepped back, folding her arms behind her back and staring impassively. “I get to choose whether I forgive you. Not you,” the girl snarled, voice shaking. “You don’t get to force me to hug it out and make it all better. You don’t get to touch me without my consent. You don’t get to control me. This is your first, and only warning.” “I understand,” Cyllene said. Then, quieter, “I truly am sorry, but words are cheap from the mouth of one you do not trust. So I will prove myself by action.” “Okay. Thank you.” Just a flicker of an expression crossed her face, then the sky-faller was gone.
This scene is like. GAH. So much righteous anger, and it hammers home one of the major points of Elle's character-- that all her life, touch has been used as a tool to manipulate her, and even if the touch isn't sexual in nature, her consent still matters and she's not going to take shit from anyone anymore.
G: Ah, yeah... Well! I write very much out of order. Skipping around and moving with the motivation, then filling in later, works best for me. I also have an odd little habit where I'll churn out dialogue, then go back and add tags for it. I guess dialogue is easiest for me? I imagine the back and forth, and then I turn it into prose later.
K: Ohhhhh boy..... the angstiest idea I've ever had. Listen I was an edgy child when I started out. I was going through it and consider it kind of an edgelord thing, because yeah while I wrote some deathfics they were more shocking than interesting. In more recent times....hm. Unsure what you would consider angst? I have a Fucked Up AU with some friends where a character gets uh. well they get cursed, then arrested, then restrained and gaslit a whole bunch while their blood is being stolen, then kidnapped and used as a blood bank while their medication is being witheld to keep them compliant, then their parents show up and they might get concussed and then they're almost buried alive. By said parents.
R: Any writers I consider an influence.... hm. Well, say what you will about jk rowling's abyssmal worldbuilding, use of sketchy tropes, and transphobic rhetoric, and you'd be absolutely right, but I do like her flow and pacing. There's also @highabovethecloudssomewhere, who hasn't been active in a while as far as I know, but her works hold very fond memories for me, as does the community formed around them. And then, of course, Leslie Feinberg and Stone Butch Blues. I aspire to that level of poetry, because dear fucking god that shit was raw and Jess was a very heavy inspiration for Hilda from Reshiram's Perdition. Kafka Asagiri's Bungou Stray Dogs, for the literary references and deeply fascinating takes on the cycle of abuse, as well as. Well. Atsushi my beloved catboy, may he please get some fucking therapy he literally has C-PTSD. Oh! And @collabwithmyself has influenced my writing and worldviews lately-- namely, i've picked up a few tropes from him. Weight gain as a form of healing and catboys/catgirls as a metaphor for neurodivergency my beloved! Oh, and I absolutely picked up my enjoyment of horror from the magnus archives, so i suppose jonny sims? seems like he grew disaffected with the work near the end, but i really hope he's doing okay and grows to love it again, flaws and all.

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 28/11/2020
Huh... I expected a busier week this week but I probably got what was ahead of me just a bit earlier this week instead of anything that feels contemporary or currently relevant. I mean, yes, we do have three top 10 debuts but that’s as far as our stories go in terms of the big singles and albums I expected to have some kind of less muted impact on the chart. The big issue here is that I didn’t consider how much of a chaotic mess 2020 has been, so people really want to get straight to the festivities, if you catch my drift. Hence, with four weeks until Christmas, and a Christmas that for a lot of people will be a lot different thanks to you-know-what, we have a lot more of the holiday stuff crashing in earlier and harder than I or anyone expected. It’s still November, guys, calm down. Anyway, Ariana Grande’s “positions” spends a fifth week at #1 and welcome back to REVIEWING THE CHARTS.
Tumblr media
Rundown
As always, here’s a brief rundown of what’s going on. Most of this rundown for the UK Top 75 will be holiday music, so I might as well run through the returning entries and climbers first. We have “One More Sleep” by Leona Lewis at #72, “Merry Xmas Everybody” by Slade at #69, “I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday” by WIzzard at #61, “Driving Home for Christmas” by Chris Rea at #55, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee at #52, “Step into Christmas” by Elton John at #49, “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson at #46, “HOLIDAY” by Lil Nas X up to #42 off of the debut, the horribly racist and despicably awful “Do they Know it’s Christmas?” by Band Aid at #38, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé at #35, “Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens at #33 and then some big gains for the Christmas songs that were already here, like “Fairytale of New York” by the Pogues featuring the late Kirsty MacColl at #26 having the biggest rise of the week (there’s always controversy surrounding that song each year so it tends to surge high – also it’s an incredible song), “Last Christmas” by WHAM! at #20 and “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey already up to #14. That doesn’t mean there weren’t other gains and returning entries of course, in fact, we have some big ones, those being “Plugged in Freestyle” by Fumez the Engineer and A92 inexplicably making its way up to #39 because Irish drill is always good for the holidays I suppose. Speaking of drill, “Whoopty” by CJ is at #12 and “Loading” by Central Cee is at #34. “Get Out My Head” by Shane Codd also enjoyed continued gains up to #24. Thanks to BTS releasing their umpteenth album Be, the lead single “Dynamite” is back at #37 – more on them later. Oddly, thanks to the PlayStation 5 of all things, “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)” by Post Malone and Swae Lee returns to #30. I mean, okay, sure, it could be a worse song at that spot. Naturally, however, we have some big fallers and drop-outs because of this, so I’ll list them off starting with the fallers. Nothing survives Christmas music, and especially with UK chart rules, streaming cuts and a BTS album, everyone suffers, but especially hip-hop and R&B. In no particular categories, here’s our mish-mash of fallers: “Lemonade” by Internet Money featuring Don Toliver, Gunna and NAV at #22, “Giants” by Dermot Kennedy at #28, “What You Know Bout Love” by Pop Smoke at #29, “i miss u” by Jax Jones and Au/Ra at #31, “UFO” by D-Block Europe featuring Aitch at #32. “Holy” by Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper at #40, “WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion at #41, “Princess Cuts” by Headie One featuring Young T & Bugsey at #43, “Looking for Me” by Paul Woodford, Diplo and Kareen Lomax at #45, “Lasting Lover” by Sigala and James Arthur at #47, “Come Over” by Rudimental featuring Anne-Marie and Tion Wayne at #50, “Ain’t it Different” by Headie One featuring AJ Tracey and Stormzy at #51, “Holiday” by Little Mix at #53 (Wrong type of holiday), “Chingy (It’s Whatever)” by Digga D at #54, “Come Over” by Jorja Smith featuring Popcaan at #56, “Tick Tock” by Clean Bandit featuring Mabel and 24kGoldn at #57, “SO DONE” by The Kid LAROI at #58, “One Too Many” by Keith Urban and P!nk at #59, Jason Derulo’s “Take You Dancing” and “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” with Jawsh 685 at #60 and #62 respectively, “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles at #64, “Mood Swings” by the late Pop Smoke featuring Lil Tjay at #67, “Deluded” by Tion Wayne and MIST at #68, “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi at #70, “Lighter” by Nathan Dawe and KSI at #71, “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals at #73, “Papi Chulo” by Octavian and Skepta at #74, and “Confetti” by Little Mix at #75. Honestly, I can’t find much to complain about here, other than maybe “Lemonade” or “Princess Cuts”, but a lot of these were either some of the biggest hits of the year or just songs hurt prematurely by the festive season. Oh, and there’s also drop-outs from the UK Top 75 ranging in degrees of importance. Here’s just the notable ones: “Straight Murder (Giggs & David)” by Giggs featuring Dave, “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” by BBC Children in Need off the top 10 debut last week and some over major hits from the Autumn-Winter season in 2020, like “Put Your Records On” by Ritt Momney, “Daisy” by Ashnikko, “For the Night” by the late Pop Smoke featuring Lil Baby and DaBaby, “Laugh Now Cry Later” by Drake featuring Lil Durk and three genuinely massive #1 hits and songs that will represent 2020 on a wider historical scale: “ROCKSTAR” by DaBaby featuring Roddy Ricch after 31 weeks, “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi after 52 weeks and finally, “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I after 67 weeks. Okay, so “ROCKSTAR” is the only good song there but I’ll talk about these tracks in my end-of-year lists, if those happen. Now we’ve gotten through all of that, let’s discuss our new arrivals.
NEW ARRIVALS
#66 – “Blue & Grey” – BTS
Produced by Ji Soo Park, Levi, V and Hiss Noise
No, I haven’t listened to that new BTS record, even if it’s just six new songs, “Dynamite” and a skit. I don’t mind BTS or K-pop as a whole but I do like my pop music with a bit of personality that I find a lot of these idol groups kind of lack. That doesn’t mean they can’t have infectious and good songs, however, and that also doesn’t mean that they can’t display actual emotion because this song is directly about anxiety, depression and especially artist burn-out, which is a topic of all bands BTS should know well. Reading the English-translated lyrics, despite a clear language barrier, some of these lyrics are pretty poetic and I do like the use of colour imagery. Some of the lyrics seem odd, probably because if I were a Korean speaker I’d pick it up more naturally, but SUGA’s first verse is pretty concise and effective, using this metaphor of a blue question mark over his head, and J-Hope gets into some unexpected biblical territory and goes on this admittedly emo-pop trajectory that I kind of vibe with. The song itself is actually less sonically interesting than I expected, being a mostly melancholic acoustic guitar-based ballad that sure, has some pretty nice acoustic pick-ups, but doesn’t really lay an interesting enough foundation in the verses for them to flow over, especially with the awkward 808 bass and strings that are honestly a lot prettier than any of the instruments further to the front of mix. The boys sound mostly fine, and the chorus is really nicely sung, but J-Hope’s aggressive delivery and charismatic inflections, as well as some clever mixing, make his verse the clear stand-out here, at least in my opinion. For what it is, this is a damn good attempt at tackling these subjects to a young audience and I respect it, even if its meaning gets lost in imagery and could be a bit skewed thanks to how the song’s written. Otherwise, yeah, this is nice.
#65 – “Move On” – Lil Tjay
Produced by Avery on the Beat
You know, it’s odd that we have such scattered new arrivals this week and they all seem to be concentrated in little bubbles at opposite extremes of the chart. These first three are damn near consecutive and in the top 10... Well, you’ll see. For now, we have Lil Tjay of all people debuting on the chart with what seems to be the biggest single from that upcoming second record. I’m not a big fan of the guy, in fact I think he kind of ruined Polo G’s “Pop Out”, but the lead single, “Losses” was pretty okay, and I haven’t looked far enough into his work to really make a judgement. Also, despite being a typical New York Auto-Tune crooner kind of on the same level as A Boogie wit da Hoodie, he has a connection with the drill side of New York, and has collaborations with people like Fivio Foreign and the late Pop Smoke. This doesn’t really show any of that, however, rather going for a break-up track where Tjay feels like he’s going against his deeper instinct to move on from his ex-partner, even if he admits the relationship was toxic. It doesn’t help Tjay’s narrative that the song is borderline unlistenable, though. He decides to sing the ad-libs and some parts of the chorus in this tedious and nasal cadence even worse than his usual whiny voice, which is mixed way too high and he’s still somehow completely unintelligible under the layers of ugly Auto-Tune and reverb on the echoed background vocals. Also, this beat is based on a cheap acoustic guitar loop with a stiff trap skitter planted on top and bass mastering so terrible Lil Baby would be jealous of it. By the time the beat brings in some interesting electric guitar riffs, it’s fading out, and it is absolutely a sensory overload in the verses. I don’t mind the content here at all, but yeah, this sounds awful in almost every regard. Also, since this is our only “rap” song here, where’s Megan Thee Stallion’s album on the chart? Not even “Body”? Huh, I guess that’s why you shouldn’t release in the holiday season.
#63 – “This Christmas” – Jess Glynne
Produced by ???
Jess Glynne produced a cover of the Donny Hathaway classic and uploaded it as an exclusive to Amazon Music for no reason other than potentially driving up sales for that Christmas #1. It worked with Ellie Goulding’s “River” last year (which wasn’t even a Christmas song, just a Joni Mitchell cover), so let’s hope she doesn’t succeed this time. It is on YouTube, so I won’t protest that much, but honestly, why would you want to hear Jess Glynne’s cover over the Hathaway classic, with his smooth, buttery voice, soaring strings and lest we forget the pianos, bongos and that gorgeous horn section that make the relaxed single an absolute classic and one of the best options for Christmas pop, especially in the more R&B sector. With her recognisable but generic smoky-indie-girl voice, plastic-ass production on the horns, strings and especially the digital production, Jess Glynne’s cover isn’t modernised or revived, it just feels gentrified. It tries to go for a guitar solo but it’s in the back of the mix and lasts for like five seconds so what’s even the point? Lil Tjay’s song may have been terrible but this offends me more on a personal level for whatever reason, probably because I am opposed to how commercialised and cultural Christmas is nowadays, which makes the best, more grounded and down-to-Earth Christmas songs the best written and those with the most longevity... at least I think so. This won’t last, though, it’s “I Love Sausage Rolls”-tier Christmas track, and I hope it fades away soon enough.
#48 – “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” – Justin Bieber
Produced by honestly, who cares?
Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and (censored)ing end me. At least Jess Glynne can convincingly sell a Christmas track with her smoky, warm and powerful voice, and, you know, at least the woman can SING! Justin Bieber making a Christmas song is completely expected after his born-again-Christian ass got married and settled down with his new family, and this is pretty obvious in his songs. I mean, “Holy” is practically already a Christmas song, and even with that, it takes a more interesting Christian angle and is mostly about marriage and relationships. Bieber has made Christmas music before, yes, but as a Disney-like child star just to sell records for his big conglomerate... and wow, how Bieber hasn’t changed, since THIS is a soulless cover of the Brenda Lee classic exclusive to Amazon bloody Music. It’s not even on YouTube in full so what’s the point of listening to this all? What is the use of this? It’s not going to charity, it’s less widely-available than the original and as far as we know, it’s not connected to a wider Bieber Christmas release. When Katy Perry pulled this schtick last year, at least she had an original song – and a good one at that – to back it up. If you’re going to sell your soul to the industry devil to attempt to get a sappy Christmas song out to the public so your name creeps back into the household, at least be upfront about it, and not hiding behind your Amazon Music subscriptions. The worst part is how this is actually charting higher than Brenda Lee’s rendition. Bieber, you soulless industry puppet, put your Goddamned song on Spotify or Apple, or just don’t make it at all. You already have a Christmas standard in the form of “Mistletoe”, and that one actually kind of bumps in the sleigh, so why are you doing this? God, I’m praying for an actually good song on this chart any moment now.
#10 – “Life Goes On” – BTS
Produced by Pdogg
You could describe BTS in a lot of ways, but “alternative hip hop” isn’t what I would have expected. Thanks for that, Rolling Stone India. Anyway, this is the big album-release single from the record, and it’s about you-know-what, but more specifically finding comfort, safety and happiness during chaotic world events. They made a speech at the 75th United Nations General Assembly, because of course they did, and this was their main message: “Life goes on, let’s live on”. Honestly, it’s not a bad message and something that people do need to hear right now, even if it is more of a blanket statement than anything too specific or meaningful, and, you know what, that will definitely help this song’s longevity. I mean, that vaccine’s on its way... right? Either way, this song is pretty good. I do like that chipmunk vocal sample playing against the slick acoustic strumming – I understand this sound is all over the album – and both the falsettos from members like Jungkook and RM’s deep rap cadences work pretty well over a beat that, whilst lacking the punch you’d want for a song like this, does a good job at expressing that wish to find serenity and be calm when... you know, 2020 is happening. SUGA’s verse is short, pointless and kind of just there to get all the boys on one track, especially since he’s not really flowing that well here. It reminds me kind of how they want all of the Backstreet Boys to get on the big single to appeal to each and every fan, even if the clear stand-outs of personality will have the most success. For BTS though, I don’t see that, and I think they pretty clearly work best together when they compile all of their ideas into a mellow albeit pretty motivational track like this. I absolutely love those harmonies from Jimin and V in the outro, and whilst I don’t see this sticking around on the charts, I’ll stick around in my playlist, which is more than I can usually say for whenever the Korean lads pop up on the chart. This is our first of three consecutive top 10 entries this week though, so let’s keep going.
#9 – “Monster” – Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber
Produced by Frank Dukes, Kaan Gunesberk and Matthew Tavares
Oh... he’s back. Well, okay, Shawn Mendes sounds pretty nice over this trip-hop-adjacent steady drum beat and the really pretty, cloudy guitars, as well as some of the harmonies they end up having and the distorted guitar by the end and... man, I know “Wonder” flopped but I don’t see this sticking around either. It’s just a nothingness track and while I do like the more specific content about the uncertainties of fame and the music industry, even from the Biebs, Sure, this is pleasant but it’s clearly just radio filler and since radio doesn’t factor into the UK’s charts, I see this as a pretty profound refusal of wanting an actual hit from both Shawn and whoever that guy is next to him on the cover art. I was wondering on how to actually write this segment since I really have nothing to say about this song at all other than that. I was thinking of ignoring Bieber’s presence but that would actually give me less to talk about, so... “Monster” by Kanye West is one of his most hard-hitting tracks and definitely one of his best brag-rap bangers, with an iconic verse from Nicki Minaj and admittedly middling input from JAY-Z and Rick Ross, all stuck together by the minimal, tribal percussion that lets everyone go off and be a bit more unorthodox, as well as Bon Iver’s eerie voice caressing this beat in the intro and outro. Let’s get even newer for a song from this year, like King Princess’ beautiful piano ballad “Monster” that does a damn great job at representing the characters it was made for, those being Marceline and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. I’ve yet to watch Distant Lands because I want to re-watch at least the essential episodes from the original series before, but I am excited to see these characters again and in a different light. 21 Savage’s “monster” featuring Childish Gambino is a pretty damn good trap track, with an unexpected rap verse from Gambino, Paramore making a song called “Monster” for the Transformers soundtrack is the most late-2000s thing that has ever occurred – in 2011, no less, uh, I like the “Monster Mash”. I think there’s an Eminem song in there somewhere, I don’t know. Look, you get the point, I hope that’s enough stalling. Let’s get to that final song.
#8 – “Prisoner” – Miley Cyrus featuring Dua Lipa
Produced by the Monsters & Strangerz and watt
So, Miley Cyrus was a Disney teen pop star and has since been trying to carve out her musical identity to varying degrees of success, but most transitions to styles have been largely unsuccessful in terms of creating a long-term sound. You have the dance-pop, club and hip-hop-adjacent party tracks on Bangerz, the psychedelic “avant-garde” era of Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, the soft country-pop ballads on Younger Now, the ugly alternative R&B-trap-RuPaul-featuring garbage on She is Coming and finally her new, new wave sound, which can be seen in his most polished form on Plastic Hearts and its two singles, “Midnight Sky” and “Prisoner”. Miley is getting a whole bunch of sounds from a lot of different genres and styles going around in the late 1970s and early 1980s, such as the hard rock, pop rock and even punk rock styles all gaining a lot of popularity at the time, and has fused them with disco and modern production to make what is basically a Blondie album if they still had their stuff together in 2020. She has got legends on this album though, like Joan Jett, Billy Idol and even Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, and honestly I really like how she’s making a female-fronted rock album that is written and performed really well and honestly should probably be her style going forward if she wants to stick with the longevity. I mean, look at “Midnight Sky”, it’s literally still at #7 staring in the face of its successor, “Prisoner”. Much like Lipa’s own “Physical”, this track interpolates Olivia Newton-John’s classic of the same name (that kind of sucks in retrospect), and does a better job than “Physical”, where Dua Lipa has much more of a presence over the drum machines and that minimal bassline that runs through the chorus really well alongside the strings and swells of guitar. This is dance-able, sure, but it’s more of a showcase of Lipa’s swagger and Cyrus’ raspy tone that really works on this album. That pre-chorus is great, especially the second time where Lipa goes solo for that last line. Honestly, my only complaint is the bridge / outro, which feels pretty under-cooked, and that there should be more inter-play between the characters on display here. Other than that, yeah, this kicks ass, and I’m just grateful this song is here and as high as it is, especially on a week like this.
Conclusion
Now, is it completely fair to give Worst of the Week to a song I can only legally listen to 15 seconds of? Yes. Absolutely. It’s going to Justin Bieber’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” on pure cynicism alone. Dishonourable Mention goes to Lil Tjay for “Move On” being an earache, with the Honourable Mention going to “Life Goes On” by BTS for just being solid all around. It’s pretty obvious where Best of the Week lies, though, so yes, it is going to “Prisoner” by Miley Cyrus featuring Dua Lipa, and it really wasn’t even close. Here’s our top 10 for this week:
