Sunnyfall made a video about how it was technically impossible for firestar to die in the great battle, so i am wondering how that is going to be fixed in bb

He's already dead by that point! He dies just after Po3, in an in-between book that bridges the lighter tone of Po3 with the darker one of OotS called Cruel Season.

The Fire of ThunderClan was a set-up, there were Dark Forest warriors trying to get him alone. Whiskernose, Breezepelt, and Thornclaw. It was a murder.

He's able to come fight Tigerstar because Jayfeather uses Rock's Branch as a channeling item, resurrecting it briefly and un-fetching it with as many angels as he could fit on its branches. He did the kitty equivalent of, like, dipping a stick into a bucket of crabs and pulling out as many as could hold on.

Shadowpaw: he is so fucking sad in this book what. He's the equivalent of like a 16-year-old jn this (I think) 8/10 enjoyable :]

Bristlepaw(frost): hollyleaf 2, the sequel but with less parental issues! Love ivypool!!! Also she's the obligatory thunderclan pov soo. 6/10 she hasn't grown on me yet

Rootpaw: shut the fuck up please no one cares about how much you hate your father. Kinda annoying idk, he'll probably get better as he grows, bristleroot is cute i guess idk 4/10

Idk what's happening with the bad leaf-bare since it's easing up at the end, at first I thought it was going to be like an eternal winter until they fix the moonpool but I guess not

BF: I have no idea who stemleaf is, I don't care for him Bristle deserves better (better is NOT Rootpaw istg he's the same bright ass yellow as Tree) she's cool, very similar to Holly as I said.

RP: not much to say as his pov was my least favorite, I only remember the scenes with tree in them cause I remember Rootpaw being pissed that his dad wasn't a standard warrior lmao.

Character for Waspwhisker is something that's been on my mind a lot lately. He's not deputy in this AU (if I take Sharpclaw out of the position in the latter books, Petalnose will replace him), but he deserves to be more than Just Some Guy.

He doesn't take over as Head of Construction, that honor goes to Rose (one of the cats Firestar asks to join SkyClan, but declines in canon; here she's a prominent SkyClan member), but I still want to do something special with him.

So, how about using the "afraid of his own shadow" plotline?

I don't know if I'm making him live with the abusive human bastard that trapped Petalnose or not, but either way dude's been through a lot. A housecat whose human died, forced to become a stray, going hungry and getting into fights with other cats for the scarce food there is. A tom taking in two weak, lonely kittens because he doesn't want them to die. A cat who needs help, and has no one give it to him until SkyClan.

*pats Waspwhisker's head* this anxious boy can fit so much trauma in him.

Among other things, he's terrified of heights. Which is hilariously sad in SkyClan, where cats leap really high and hunt in the trees, where apprentices learn to jump and climb before they even take a look at the territory.

But there's something he's really good at: cars and roads. Or rather, he knows how to identify them, and how much of a threat they possess. The average SkyClan cat knows more than the average Forest Four cat, but Waspwhisker takes it a step further.

He knows the difference between roads, streets and highways. He knows that streets are usually safe to cross, that roads are more dangerous but crossable long as you're careful, and that you must never cross a highway if you value your life.

Waspwhisker knows that bicycles aren't an immediate threat, he knows that motorcycles are more loud than dangerous, and that cars usually stop to avoid running over cats.

And, perhaps more surprisingly, he has figured out some traffic signals. He knows the blinding green light means "go ahead", that the orange one means "proceed with caution" and that the red one is a sign to stop. He knows the stop signal, and the places where cars don't usually park.

Imagine this: a two-people-bike? "Waspwhisker help!" A car parked on the sidewalk? "What is this, Waspwhisker?" *accidentally activates car alarm*

Or even better, Waspwhisker as the guide for apprentices when they have to go to town for trading, stealing from humans or whatever reason. He's there to tell them where and when it's safe to cross, and how to avoid getting in trouble with the humans.

He's the City Safety Guy, lmao

How will be the three relationship with Leafpool and squirrelflight?

i rlly dont know what the drama will be bc the half clan relationship won’t be revealed point blank 😭 it’s a law in my code that queens do not have to reveal who brought them to be with kits, and since leafpool is a warrior, she’s not breaking the healer code either (since they don’t know she’s with mothwing). the three will be raised knowing leafpool is their mother, and spend a lot of time being co-parented by leaf and squirrel! cool mama and aunty. if i decide to make bramble a sweety, he’ll be the nice uncle.

HOWEVER. there is the issue of the gap of no medicine cat in between cinderpelt’s death and lion’s becoming a healer if leafpool isn’t one.

so, i may keep leafpool as a medicine cat, but that means she’s gotta die by the end of oots if we want alder as a healer too. luckily, with the code i have written, she’s allowed to have kits as long as there’s another healer to take over. so i think i’d push back the three’s birth a little, so that when cinderpelt dies, it’s when leafpool is out of camp considering running away with mothwing and their (weaned) kits. she decides against it, and is the sole healer until lion apprentices under her like a month later.

i’m thinking of kinda combining pot and oots, bc their plots are so linked and on their own they DRAG. but regardless, i think most family drama will come from ashfur and hollyleaf.

i can kinda see it, too, hollyleaf being a stickler for the code, and mentored by someone equally as serious about it. maybe thornclaw? ashfur corners squilf and the kids, bc he knows they’re not hers but he knows she loves them. same premise. to further the plot, ashfur’s gotta find out the three are half-clan somehow, and taunts them about it during the fire scene. i imagine lion and jay are irritated about not knowing, but because they just have another parent and neither care for starclan they get over it much quicker than poor hollyleaf. her world is shattered, like seriously. she doesn’t have powers, she’s half-clan, and breaking the healer code. sort of. i’ll work on it, haha.

a bunch of other tiny things lead up to her break, i think she’ll snap and kill leafpool. ashfur witnesses it, and taunts that he’ll tell everyone, so she kills him too. she’s horrified afterwards, acting so fidgety and jumpy at camp that everyone’s worried she needs medical attention. i think she’d tell her brothers in desperation for forgiveness, but they shun her, bc girl you killed mom?? wtf??? obviously they still love her, but turn her away. she CRACKS. at the gathering that day, she tells everyone their origins and special powers and what she did, before running off. the boys chase her, only to lose her in the collapsing tunnels.

i think the clans would kind of turn on thunderclan, worried about the power they have, and thunderclan in itself would be divided between hating the three (or two, technically-) for what they’ve “brought upon the clan”, or revering them for the power and security they give. lion tries to be nice, but jay is not pleased lmao.

i’m also considering having firestar die in the fire scene, protecting his daughter and grandchildren. like he finds a way to get them to safety, but he insists on being the last one to go so he dies before he can make it. maybe. i think with firestar in charge, it’s a little too stable. we need some drama!

i wonder who longstar would promote as deputy tbh. brackenfur would be such a good deputy, but a bad choice story wise. him and longtail would make a good leadership, a stable clan, which is bad for plot lmao. however, if i can think of other things to fuck up the battle cat’s lives, brackenfur as deputy could happen

heyyyy bonefallll!!! So uhm. Wind released. And if you read it, what do you think of it?

I started ASC off with a lot of excitement. I had known to not get my hopes up, but for the first time in a long time, I felt like they actually had something meaningful to say about the problems in Clan society. For once, it felt fresh.

A conflict based on a murder mystery and a power struggle, political radicalization within another Clan with anti-Clanswapper bigotry turning violent, and the reluctant heir of a legacy sprawling several generations. Like a dark echo of TPB, implying the root issues had never been truly addressed by Darkest Hour. The Clans still have a terrible ruling system. The culture is still bigoted. Firestar failed to destroy the obsession with legacy-- he just founded a new bloodline.

And even if it wasn't THAT deep, it was at least a grounded plot that was based in the characters more than faith in StarClan. If Nightheart's arc about legacy fell apart, I'd still enjoy watching him struggle, lose people, grow, and find his purpose. Or seeing Splashtail juggle the power he'd managed to snatch and was just not smart enough to hold onto. Or the cool fights that would surely result from an invasion of RiverClan.

Wind tossed it. It was already having a downturn in the previous book, but this is a book that seems so afraid of having interesting conflict that it spends 75% of its time debating if something interesting should happen, and 25% of its time barking, "EVIL HEATHENS WHO HATE GOD WILL DESTROY OUR SOCIETY!!"

I can't get over how awful Splashtail's "descent" is. He's having a dumbass atheist stoner debate with Podlight when they go to the Moonpool, musing that maybe you have to eat 9 mice to get 9 lives, and then 2 appearances later he's foaming at the mouth with a dictator speech and kills harelight no miss.

They even seem to have tried to replicate Stonefur's execution but badly. It's jarring. Splashtail had a big dictator speech, killed the beloved deputy suddenly, and the whole camp looks Super Scared and Upset so that you know it's the Evil Leader and not a systemic problem.

His "TALENT FOR MANIPULATION" is saying he heard Curlfeather murmur evil plans in her sleep and (apropos of nothing) accusing her teenage daughter of "getting the wrong idea" about his adult romantic interest in her. I keep coming back to this because the ENTIRE book's plot is based on this successfully smearing Frostpaw's reputation.

you may be tired of hearing it, but I'm definitely more tired than you because I had to read and analyze an ENTIRE BOOK founded on it.

The plot is endlessly arguing over if they can trust Frostpaw or not, gathering "evidence" to this end, while Sunbeam and Nightheart's POVs uselessly languish in ThunderClan doing mentoring stuff.

Im SO sick of being forced to sit in thunderclan while more interesting things happen offscreen. stop adding MORE cats to ThunderClan, you already have Stormcloud and you do NOTHING with him why are they also getting WAFFLEPAW

Everyone's praising the fact that the book can remember previous entries, but actually, I'm going to drop a hot take; It's actually bad if they CAN obviously reference old material, and then it doesn't influence the actions the characters take. They namedrop Nightstar several times and then come up with excuses for why they still need to sit around and do nothing!!

THAT'S WORSE, ACTUALLY.

SCALDING TAKE, I'd RATHER see the cats have the memories of goldfish if the alternative is "We remember Nightstar! We're simply going to purposefully disregard Nightstar, because the plot needs to happen"

They also muse that maybe Splashtail's evilness is making all the RiverClan cats act evil, and they'll go back to normal once he's removed. This has been implied before, but never so blatantly stated.

But most of all, I can't stop going back to "Godless Heathen Bloodlust." What a fucking joke. For a shining minute it looked like we were going to have interesting villains, but no, they really are just coming out and saying that lacking faith is an indicator of a moral failing. What makes Splashtail so uniquely bad and scary is that he "disrespects the ancestors" (hey podlight. what if eating 9 magic mice gives you 9 lives? woah dude look at this. the bugle chips look like claws. lol haha) and hates love and peace and won't even let Jesus guide him.

The scenes with Frostpaw and her allies are the only parts of this book worth reading. Shadowsight, tigerHeartstar. Clinging to Whistlepaw like she's a life preserver. save me windclan

I wanted to experiment a little with form. I had written one Leonardo fic last year that was only dialogue and wanted to try it again.

modiste: a fashionable milliner or dressmaker

“Clavis? Could you come here a moment, please?”

“Is my lovely wife missing me already? I haven’t even left the room yet!”

“Clavis.”

“Alright little lamb, I’m coming. Oh dear, am I allowed behind the changing screen? I may see something I shouldn’t and my, wouldn’t that be scandalous.”

“Clavis, we’re married.”

“Ah yes, and what a dream it’s been since the wedding. I have a particularly fond memory of sneaking off during the reception and–”

“Clavis!”

“I’m here, Mrs. Lelouch and…….ah…..oh dear. Oh dearie me. What have you done?”

“Please help me. When I tried it on at the modiste, she helped me with all the straps. She made it seem so easy to get into this damned dress but now…..I think I’ve made a mess of it.”

“Hmm. I am quite certain that you are exposing body parts that are exclusively for the blessed eyes of your beloved husband and no one else. Let me just tuck that back–”

“Clavis, you have to fix the whole dress. Not just squish me into some of it! Also that hurts. They’re attached, you know.”

“Are they? I should feel again just to be sure and- ouch! My little bunny turns violent. It’s quite charming how fiery you are.”

“I will swat your hands away if you try that again. I just need- oof– help untwisting these straps here. I believe some of them should go across that way.”

“My, who knew garments could be so complex. Where is the style of simplicity?"

“Says the man who wears seven belts.”

“Only on occasion. Now be a sweetheart and bend your arm like so. Just….further down, darling.”

“My arm doesn’t bend that way!”

“Wait…wait…ah, I believe this particular strap goes like this. Much better. I should consult with your modiste when constructing my next trap. She appears to be a natural.”

“She would never. She is a lady.”

“So were you and I still managed to capture your heart, charm you until you couldn’t bear to be without me, fill your nights with dreams of Lelouchian delight.”

“Oh for heaven’s sake.”

“Your tone notwithstanding, I know you are thrilled to be Mrs. Lelouch. And would Mrs. Lelouch care to duck underneath this strap, watch your head. Ah. My, my, would you look at that. It really IS a beautiful dress.”

“You did it!”

“Of course I did. I am a man of my word and also, I’m an incredibly talented– Mmmph.”
