since I put out the first part of the phase one Mills story, I’m feeling pretty good about my writing ability at the moment, so I’m gonna go ahead and start phase two of the celebration :)

as a reminder...

Flip Zimmerman x fem reader (no pronouns)

Summary: It's date night and you've bought something new for the occasion.

The evening glow in the bedroom makes everything glow differently, like they hold secrets and pulse excitedly over keeping them. All the hues of the wooden cabinets come out to play, along with the shadows in the corner and rays of the sun hitting the duvet. The dimming light sparkles off your selection of bottles and jewelry on top of the vanity, creating a starry night inside. It’s magical, this silent moment inside the room and normally you love to watch the tango of light and shadow, but tonight all your focus is elsewhere.

You sit in front of the vanity, dressed only in garters and a light underskirt, huffing as you struggle with your bra. It’s one you haven’t worn before, the lace tights and unyielding as you struggle to close the clasp behind you.

You could clasp it in the front, but you know how the lace scratches while you twist it around your body, so you prefer to clasp it right from the back. But this particular design is giving you trouble. You knew you shouldn’t have listened to your friend raving over the new Canadian brand that’s finally available in Colorado Springs. This much trouble isn’t worth the pretty lace.

Your hand slips a little and you can feel the hook miss its counterpart and the movement almost loosens the groan threatening to escape. Your arms ache like crazy from being pulled back in an unnatural position for so long, but stubbornly you align the pieces again, pushing your shoulders back. Missing the target once more, you let your hands fall to your side and huff.

The bedroom door creaks a little and without looking, you know your man has entered the room. Flip has a way of filling out a room just by entering it, a powerful presence that leaves a lasting mark. It’s not just his height and width that does it, but the aura he carries with him. He knows who he is, not in a cocky way, but in a way that allows him to be confident in himself. It’s what makes him an excellent detective.

Also without looking you know he’s wearing his standard uniform; a flannel shirt over dark jeans, his long black hair framing his angular face and aquiline nose. His dark eyes have already scanned the room for threats, something you know Flip does unconsciously whenever he enters a new space but here it only takes a second before he relaxes minutely. It’s the life of a detective, he always has to be ready. Especially after the epic clusterfuck of the Klan case. You don’t even mention it anymore, only smiling softly inward when he does it.

“I’m almost finished,” You murmur, shaking your arms a little to get rid of the ache. He hums softly, his low bass vibrating in your neck. “Can I help?” He traces his long, thick finger up and down your spine and you shiver. Flip’s finger stops at your neck, the pad of his finger pressing down light as a feather. He then moves towards your ear, trailing gooseflesh behind him.

“Mmm, please.” Your answer is more of a purr but he picks it up and acts accordingly. The finger leaves your neck and two hands grasp at the bra bands. You both hold your breaths until the final metal hook is in place. It only takes a few seconds for him, but it feels like the world has stopped during it, waiting alongside you.

There is something intimate about the action, how he treats the lace delicately but surely and smooths down the fabric at your back with soft movements to ensure there are no wrinkles and nothing presses down uncomfortably. Flip lets himself linger and you can feel him be hesitant about relinquishing his touch on your skin.

There is a need inside you to lean back, fall into his embrace and never leave the room and his arms. Your eyes meet with coffee and amber colored ones in the mirror and you know Flip can read your thoughts like they were said out loud. But words are not needed, his eyes also tell a story of their own. One that matches yours.

Emotions swirl in the endless orbs as you continue to watch each other via the looking glass. His large hand moves from your back and splays over your stomach, his shoulders framing and towering over your sitting figure. Together like this the image is now complete and a powerful sense overwhelms all the previous emotions. You feel protected in here.

It’s just you and him, together, sharing the moment and sharing a life. There is no other way you’d have it but with him by your side.

“You look stunning tonight,” Flip whispers, his bears and whiskers tickling your sensitive flesh as they move with his mouth hot near your ear. You can feel the telltale signs of rebuttal lick your veins but his naked desire is so visible in him that you find yourself speechless.

“I’m a man who counts each day as a blessing for I can spend them with you. And to see you like this, this beautiful and stunning and glowing, I find myself asking what god have I served so well that they’ve allowed me to touch heaven. I don’t know the answer but I know I will continue to worship on that altar for all my life.”

There is something lodged in your throat surely, because you can’t have an answer to something beautiful like that. Flip doesn’t need an answer though, moving to your side and kneeling down on one knee. His long arm sweeps past you, fetching the two rings on your vanity before grasping your hand in his.

Just as slowly, with as much delicacy as before with your undergarment, Flip slips them into your ring finger, the cool metal feeling so familiar yet so different in that moment. It’s like its the first time again he’s put the rings on your person and you can almost hear the ghost of courthouse chatter behind you. Once they are in place, Flip runs a thumb across the metal adoringly, that small boyish grin on his plush lips. He leans forward, brushing his lips on your temple.

At your quizzical look - Flip is normally not this chaste with his affections - he offers a small shrug. “Don’t want to mess up your stunning look just yet, sweetheart. But later, I promise.” He winks and you burst out laughing and shoo him off while calling him cheeky. Date night hasn’t even started yet and the man is out here, charming the pants off you.

Like he knows what you are thinking, Flip turns in the doorway. For a moment, your husband looks carefree and young and your heart swells with happiness and love. His eyes twinkle and the same boyish grin is on his lips as he quips the words before disappearing from view with a low laughter.

“It’s why you love me, sweetheart.”

This is my favorite time of the year! And as far as I’m concerned, Halloween runs from September 1 - November 15, which then becomes Winter and Christmas through December 31! For the next two months, it’s full steam ahead for anything and everything related to Autumn and Halloween!

Hi friends, I missed you all and hope you’ve been well! I am happy to say that prompts are now open for Sinday.

If you’re new here, hi! I’m Zannah and on Sundays back in the day I had a prompt event called Sinday where I wrote up 1k word fics based on prompts you guys send in! They can be smutty, fluffy, angsty, or somewhere in between!

Here’s how it works: prompts are open all week, and then close Saturday evening at midnight. On Sunday, I post as many as I can for everyone to enjoy throughout the following days, and we do it all again!
