If you want to look into the Johan and Peewit episodes in the Smurfs cartoon, expect to see the smurfs pop up regularly (obviously).

And while you're at it, check out the comics afterwards, especially if you know a bit of French. Because, fun fact, some changes were made in the process of adapting them to 20 minute episodes. Some are minute such as coloring a semi-complex tunic in one flat color or coloring Johan's horse brown instead of white with black spots. Some are a bit major such as omitting a character or two that were in the comics or, like I said earlier, inserting the smurfs into the story where they weren't present in the comics.

(That's not to say the smurfs never showed up in the Johan and Peewit comics. I mean, they first appeared in The Smurfs and the Magic Flute after all, and a couple other stories in the series. They just didn't get the spotlight yet until they got their own comic series.)

If you DO like these episodes, I promise you, the comics are WAY better, trust me. Plus the artwork is real nice too, especially if you're already into the art styles in, say, Asterix or the mainline Smurfs comics, among others.

Plus it's just kinda fun to examine one of the episodes and pick apart what's changed in the adaptation process.
