Robotics is living proof that teenagers can have fun with literally anything.
I mean, about half of the game pieces are feasible to use as fun toys. Like, we had a freaking game of dodgeball with the 2016 boulders once. It was awesome. And we would try to pitch the wiffle ball fuel from 2017 into the low goal (and mostly missed). The Frisbees are self-explanatory.
But then there are the recycling bins from 2015. And we played with those, too. I have fond memories of clambering into the can, snapping the lid on over my head, and getting rolled around the field. The pool noodles are great for jousting.
Some of them are harder than others, though. Like the hatch panels. And yet my friend sent me a picture of her with one of them on her head like a halo. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome

Just realized that it's been build season for almost 2 months now and I have yet to go through the frc tag and remind Everyone that I am a Robotics Kid

I vaguely remember seeing a post about “if She-Ra characters were on a First Robotics Competition team.” However I can’t find it (I might be confusing it with a different cartoon) so I decided to make my own version.
(If you don’t know what FRC is, it’s a high school robotics competition where teams have 6 weeks to build a robot to complete a set of challenges, and then the robots compete with each other. The game changes every year but it often involves things like climbing, shooting balls, and stacking objects.)
Adora: The team leader, thinks through game strategy a lot
Catra: is only there because of Adora, messes things up a lot, thinks team drama is funny. She has definitely thought about sabotaging the other teams
Bow: safety captain, suggests silly designs as a joke and makes memes
Sea Hawk: thinks of elaborate yet impractical robot designs and unironically wants a water game
Glimmer: very competitive, the most hyped person at competitions. Starts group cheers
Entrapta: the insanely dedicated mentor who comes every day despite having a job. She also brings food (tiny food of course), which includes 3 different desserts every time. No one knows if she ever sleeps.
Hordak: doesn’t want to be there but Entrapta convinced him to come. He definitely thought it was battlebots before seeing a video.
Scorpia and Perfuma: mostly there to meet people and learn things and aren’t particularly competitive
Mermista: wants people to believe she’s the most down to earth and serious team member, but she secretly wants a water game
Their team name is The Best Friend Squad, everyone but Bow thinks it’s cheesy but they haven’t agreed on a different idea

For World Autism Acceptance Day, I wanted to reshare the one and only fan-fiction that I have ever written featuring Peter Parker with Autism.
How We Got From There to Here- happyaspie
No warnings || Rated G || Word Count 7017 || Except Below
When Tony first met Peter Parker he had noticed a few things. The kid was jittery, stuttered and avoided eye-contact as if it would burn. He didn't think too much of it. He was Tony Stark. People often acted nervous around him. A result of being well known, always in the face of the public and even more so since taking on the moniker, Iron Man. He didn't notice a whole lot outside of that for a long time. After all, his contact with the kid was limited to a very few interactions and most of them were brief or he was too angry to pick up on anything else other than maybe, that the boy has some serious issues with following directions.
It was later when the kid had slipped up and his aunt found out about his extracurricular activities that he started to pick up on more. Peter was spending a good bit of time with him in the lab now. As he did so, he started to notice more and more things about his new mentee. Like, the fact that he could talk circles about whatever subjects he wanted to talk about but the second Tony would change the subject the kid would revert to one-word replies. The repetitive fidgeting the kid did with his hands and fingers had also caught his attention. He definitely noticed that the boy never asked for anything. If he did it was just on the verge of frantic. Like the first time, Peter had ever had to ask where the bathroom was or when Tony lost track of time one Saturday and the boy hadn't had anything to eat or drink in hours. He eventually learned that Peter was just in general... awkward, from the way he moved to the way he talked. It was subtle but he could see it now. Not that he minded in the least, the boy was wicked smart and his smile was damn near contagious.
It was when he was sharing coffee with Peter's Aunt May, one afternoon that he learned that there was more to the kid's awkwardness than just being a bit of a nerd. He had mentioned something about the kid's constant fidgeting when May had corrected him and used the word stemming. He hadn't really known what she meant until he got home and looked it up. Then it all started to fall into place. Peter wasn't just awkward, he had Autism. When he had called her later to verify she was shocked that he hadn't already figured it out. They stayed on the phone for quite a while discussing it. After that, Tony became much more tuned-in to Peter and his idiosyncrasies.

FRC To Punish 14 Banks Violating Loan Conditions To States
FRC To Punish 14 Banks Violating Loan Conditions To States
The Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has stated that it will punish about 14 banks and financial institutions allegedly granting loans without due process to state governments.
This was stated on Monday by Victor Muruako, FRC chairman at a transparency and accountability sensitisation workshop for the south-east zone held in Lagos.
The FRC organised the event as part of its zonal…

New season, new naming conventions! Messidor is a hybrid mashup of the Latin messis, “harvest, reaping,” and the Greek dōron, “gift.” “Harvestidor” might have worked as a translation of this month, but I think matching the length played a choice in Carlyle choosing the word “reap” instead. “Reap” come from an old Germanic root meaning “to snatch up” and is also related to the word “ripen.”
With harvest and ripening in mind, I associate late June with the first sweet corn harvest, depicted here. My tie-together theme of summer months will be the sun, which is just rising here. Summer was actually the first month I composed when I was drawing these - maybe because it was summer so I had more inspiration
Holidays in Reapidor 2021:
-Pentecost (Eastern Church), 2
-Father’s Day, 2
-The Hajj Begins, 23
-Tisha B’av, 29-30
*I’ve been trying to avoid holidays linked to specific national historical events because otherwise these posts would be 90% independence days of different countries, but it was just too neat a coincidence that the first official Juneteenth as a national holiday falls on the first of Reapidor this year.

safety tips 5: the search for safety tips 4
it’s technically not clothespinning if you attach the clothespins directly to their blood vessels
stay 6 feet away from your robot at all times
dark magic is permitted
there’s no rule on the books that says a golden retriever can’t be on drive team (though he can’t be the human player as that role requires a real live human)
self-destruct button should not be placed next to the e-stop button
buoyancy sacs should be filled with helium and not hydrogen
if you spin the bearing quickly enough you will create a stable time loop
self-righting mechanism consisting of a piece of toast buttered-side up strapped to the back of a cat
tank drive should not require military intervention
all bot code should be blackout poetry of your team’s chairman’s essay
budget should not exceed US$69,420

someday i will be back in a classroom. i will be prepared, i’ll have a beautiful paper planner and smooth pens to fill it with. i will have sticky notes and my ipad and notebooks to fill with the knowledge that i deserve to know. i will learn in person, in huge lecture halls or tiny classrooms, filled with other eager students. i will ask questions without glitching out of education. i can bring an overpriced latte to class and smell the scent of everyone else who did the same. i will feel again. i will interact with others again. i will kiss the one i love every single day. this will end, and we will all be more resilient for it. dream of what good the future will bring. live for the moment, the thrill, but also live knowing that brighter days are just ahead of you.

!! sorry i know you have a lot of asks and this one isn't mcyt related but. i noticed in the tags of a post you mentioned you do FIRST robotics and may i ask whether you do FTC or FRC bc im just,, im a robotics nerd and im curious!
there is NEVER a bad time for FIRST questions, sorry for the wait! Depression been hitting HARD once more. i literally have only directly talked to two people in two weeks
I’m in FRC! i was also in FLL for uhh five-six years? My birthdate let me get away with an extra year.
I was in:
FLL Nature’s Fury
FLL World Class
FLL Trash Trek
FLL Animal Allies
and FLL Hydro Dynamics
Animal Allies was easily my favorite, it was also my absolute best year.. I wish I could go into depth about it, because actually it?? managed to tie into MCYT, in a way? but i cannot really go into depth without worrying about doxing myself
because of covid I also only had one full year of FRC, but because my family is SUPER tied into my team, i sorta had two years. The year before I was in high school but after I was to old for FLL, I got to drive the robot at an off-season event with my team. So that was awesome!
FRC is complete brainrot for me, it’s like. the only time I leave my house? i just. i LOVE the program more than anything. I have like a six hundred page document for an MCYT High School FRC au that i should go back to working on.
Anyway, best of luck to you! I hope we’ll all be able to have a robotics season, if these vaccines get out anytime soon.

what's your frc team like?
My high school team was my family! I loved them! Plus, we were always growing which I loved! Every year we had a significant improvement in some aspect which was absolutely amazing. I miss them with all my heart!
Now that I'm in college I'm not officially on a team but I am hoping to mentor the team that works out of my uni's Innovation Center. As far as I know they're really well-performing. I'm excited to join them.
