ngl the jesus fandom is a little bit problematic. like, the fanart is GREAT and i think some of their fanartists came over from the TMNT fandom based on their urls?? not sure tho. but like that doesn't excuse the blatant whitewashing and the problems with the source material.
i haven't read the bible yet it's pretty hefty but the resurrection arc wasn't really my favorite. like i get that (SPOILERS) jesus died to save everyone, but ngl god killing his only son like that?? this man has got to have daddy issues.
also i've heard that the jesus stans actually like, killed people for not believing what they did. i knew the discourse and the toxicity there was insane but like what?? apparently if you don't agree with their headcannons they threaten to send you to the shadow realm???
anyways yeah end of post make sure to educate yourselves and keep an eye on who follows you, buh-bye ^_^

I always find it funny when I see a homophobic WoF fan. How do you even do the mental gymnastics to be in a fandom where there are not only so many canon queer characters, but an infinite supply of headcanons and queer ships. Buddy, you're in the Gay Dragons fandom, how do you still "not agree" with their existence?

evangelical churches have tried everything to make kids growing up in church stay and to gain new young members in general. they have tried everything from rock music to club nights to summer camps. but modern times require modern solutions. i think it's time for the church to tap into the lucrative market of boy x boy yaoi

I. Hurt.
And I was hurting anyway, I'm pretty down this morning, but this hurt came from an outside source, and affected me in a way I'd honestly not have expected.
See, we bought Nimona last week. After seeing the movie, my kids wanted to read it. And I ended up reading ahead, and I just finished it.
Bonus content at the end, it said, and I was like, oh, an epilogue to the epilogue maybe? That'd be nice. I don't love bittersweet endings, I'd rather...
...no, it's not the conclusion.
It's CHRISTMAS.
In a book that'd had no religion that I noticed up to that point, BOTH bonus extras...were Christmas.
Ya know, usually it doesn't bother me. Usually I just suck it up. I think it helps that I was raised around mostly Jews and people who, if Christian, it didn't matter much to them. I'm from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the descendent of Lower East Side immigrants, and while the world outside was brutal - my grandfather was a World War 2 veteran and among the soldiers who liberated Dachau, I can't remember a time when I didn't know that most people would look the other way if people like me were slaughtered wholesale - my bubble was safe, we were accepted, we were insiders.
I honestly can't think of another time I've interacted with a piece of media and felt so immediately, instantly knocked across the face by OUTSIDER as I just did when I excitedly turned the page to see what these fun extra bonuses were...and it was fucking Christmas.
I didn't even read them.
I'm honestly. So disappointed.
I don't have a thick armor for this kind of hurt. I'm Jewish, and as an adult living outside my old UWS bubble, that's often meant I've felt like an outlier, but I've hardly ever had this feeling where I was welcome to something only to be suddenly, violently shoved out the door.
And I've heard nothing, n.o.t.h.i.n.g. but praise for this book. And on another day, it might not have bothered me. I've never really felt like I had to fight to be seen, especially since I'm tremendously secular. I mean, I've celebrated Christmas my entire life, for starters.
But why. Why was this fantasy setting suddenly Christian? Why was this the touted extra content? Why is THIS special, when the areligious world established to that point was apparently not special enough?
I can't say yet if this ruined the story for me. It's far too soon. But I'm *intensely*, viscerally let down, and...I hurt.
Christians...maybe stop doing this shit.

Love the idea of trickster Lucifer/The Devil who tries to manipulate and psychologically torture everyone into leaving god and taking away all their chance to be redeemed.
But I'm hungry to see Michael never falling for it.
And I don't mean the Archangel who goes down to his level to make people still have faith, who also hurts others and even his own to go against the devil. Neither do I also mean the Archangel who is blinded by faith and does whatever he wants because he can't fall, or even the Archangel who acts just as pompous and prideful as any other prince.
I clave for the Archangel who fails and learns his lessons, who always gets hurt in the end but never gives up on humanity, the one that became so human it breaks him entirely, the Archangel chief prince that rules through heaven and the pressure of it holds him forever. The Archangel whose faith doesn't waver, whose scars are visible like those of a warrior, whose mind is sharp from the ages and wise from its confrontarions with the devil. The one who is patient enough to hold a conversation with the worst of kind, the one who has learned resilience from the humble and recieved strength from the loveless. The one that has been through the war and never forget it, but neither does it forget to love the enemy through it.

I feel like Shirley Bennet is definitely the kind of religious person who remains vaguely homophobic on the stance of holier than thou godliness but once she knows someone who is gay is like- "oh. Oh dear. The gays are NOT reincarnations of Satan. Turns out. They're actually quite nice. Hm" and then slowly transitions into a quiet but firm ally.

Before we celebrate the upcoming Christmas this year, do you ever just wonder how Jesus must've felt when he and his family were displaced due to his very existence? And up until now, his existence as a Palestinian Jew is often being dismissed by those who never cared about humanity at all, despite the fact they are human.
Now I wonder how he must've felt when he found out that his people and homeland were both being erased in the hands of those who say they share the same religion as him, but in the end, tried to destroy everything that he was fighting for when he was still alive.
Sometimes I wish he was reincarnated again, but would've never been executed like he had been before... by those who have oppressed his kind.
[ P.S.: I also posted a slideshow of this in my TikTok acc (@/n.ikie27) ]
