Yes, there is a tentative calendar here.

It's sort of already gone off track though, since the gift exchange was pushed. That also means we're having a mini-Lovefest on the 14th (I'll prepare a list of suggestions this weekend, send some if you have them). And a Fanart Masquerade was suggested and will be included as well, probably after the gift exchange and before Gallavich Week in the summer.

So, for now, the next two events will be the Lovefest (last time it was a week, this year I'm thinking of one day only — it's an event during which we share recommendations and positive comments) and the gift exchange (open for all kinds of fanworks, guidelines same as the last time, with minor updates). I'll share details for both in the next few days.

hi do you have any tips for writing?

Hi! I’m flattered you’ve asked me. I enjoy writing a lot but I always feel like i’m still learning so an ask like this is a bit of a surprise in a way because I’m so in awe of so many other writers that I don’t feel qualified to give advice. But here are some random thoughts and I hope they are inspiring:

Write. That probably seems really obvious. But just write. You don’t have to post it. Just write dialogue or random paragraphs or interesting thoughts. Just write. Anything you feel is good, stick it in your drafts.

Edit it and focus on spelling and grammar. But don’t worry about it so much that you feel you can’t post it. Chances are, if you’re worried about a minor plot point or a weird sentence, your readers will either not notice or love it.

I first started reading fandom years and years ago and I didn’t write at all because I was so nervous and anxious and worried about what I might write. It was an utter waste of time. I could have been writing for years and I didn’t. I regret it.

If you want to share your work - go for it. The Gallavich fandom is an especially kind and supportive place. So all those worries you might have? They’re probably bullshit because everyone here is so welcoming.

Try @galladrabbles - it’s such a wonderful challenge because you can just try sharing a short piece of writing and see how you feel. 100 words is very easy and each weekly prompt is very inspiring.

Read. Read everything and anything. Articles/newspapers, non fiction, fiction of all genres, fanfiction - recent and old, from any fandom. Read and reread, any type of writing. It’ll be useful and interesting and you’ll learn a lot in terms of style, narration, dialogue, plotting, words and ideas.

Make comments on fanfic you’ve enjoyed. I always find this is useful in terms of leaving feedback which is always nice for the author but also in terms of clarifying to yourself what has been especially enjoyable. Did you like the plot or the dialogue or the overall feel of the story? Think about it and share it with the author. It’ll be great for them but it will also allow you to realise what you like in a story.

Remember that no one starts out as a fantastic author with millions of comments and kudos and hits. Everyone starts out as a beginner. And they were just as nervous or lost as you might feel. And probably still are when it comes to sharing new work sometimes.

Practice is important. And that means writing when you can and as often as you are able. Try different genres or tropes or writing styles. Find out what works for you and what doesn’t. Experiment in your drafts or take part in challenges.

Get silly and indulgent with fandom on tumblr (or other social media) because interacting with fellow fans on here is always inspiring. Whether it’s reading/making comments on posts or having ideas because of gifsets or edits or headcanons or just engaging with meta that allows you to see certain moments in canon in a new way - this is a great place to find inspiration.

Ultimately, just have fun. Play around with writing and storytelling. You asked for writing tips and I’m assuming you meant fandom writing. So just go for it, write and share your work. I was scared and intimidated for years about writing. It was a waste of time. Now I love writing. It’s such a great hobby and I’m so glad I jumped in and did it.

And take care of yourself, write when you want to and share when you want to. Writing in fandom should be a fun hobby for you.

253,035 as of right the fuck now. Holy moly that's a lot.

I've written for Why R U? and now for Stranger Things.

4.What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Of soulmates and colors (a chonky metalsandwich soulmates AU)

What happens in Vegas... (a WhyRU? canon divergence with Tor waking up in Vegas, married to his ex)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try. Sometimes I'm slow as fuck and sometimes I'm perched on my inbox like a starving hawk, but I always try.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably What doesn't kill you makes you a monster, which is an angst fest built around body horror and body mutation which ends with Steve having basically no hope about the future. But then, months after, I went and wrote a follow up fic where Steve gets to find another monster and fall in love with him and have a HEA, so I guess it only half-counts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Uh... I honestly don't know. I mean, I mostly write fics with a good ending or at worst a hopeful ending (like Come Close) and I honestly don't think I can't rank which of my HEA fics is the happiest, so, all the happy ones? I guess?

8. Do you get hate on any fics (Art)?

So far, never.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yep, I do, even if it's hard as hell and I always feel like it sucks. As for what kind... uh... I don't know how to answer... The smutty kind? Sometimes it's soft. and sometimes it's hurried, and sometimes it's filthy monsterfucking because monsters, too, deserve to get laid.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

My heist AU is a crossover between one show, a different show, and an AU of the first show. Two actors from the first show play minor parts in the second show. It's a wild, wild thing.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

No.

No.

Harringrove.

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Probably that one Gallavich thing I wrote 90k words of because I had to put it out of my head and is close to the end but when I look at it makes me feel eh because Ian's part of the plot feels to passive and NOPE!, that's so fucking wrong, vade retro Satana!

16. What are your writing strengths?

Plotting and dialogue. And wild ideas.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptions. Smut.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

To quote Guin, "get it checked by a person who speaks that language before you post". Preferably a native speaker who can tell you if it sounds like your easy going teenager was possessed by the ghost of a stuffy academic from the 1820s. Also, it's a hard balance to make it not too distracting, to make sure it doesn't kill the pace of the story, so good luck in your endeavours, fellow writers!

Honestly no idea.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

I love them all, they are my self-indulgent nuggets of entertainment and I won't pit them one against the other trying to choose a favorite. I reject this question. U_U

Interstellar Ian - gallavich kid’s show au

i can’t find a discord server to ramble about a gallavich-centric au i’m working on so i’m gonna ramble about the concept here. I am writing a fic for it so I’m not gonna go in depth on the specific plot points, just the idea/background/set up

if you are interested in specifics, though, i’ve already posted a few excerpts from chapter one on this blog under the tag ‘Interstellar Ian AU’. 

so seriously hear me out here

ian gallagher is the host of a kid’s show in the same vein as Lazy Town, Blues Clues, etc. He serves as the host who takes the viewers through adventures in a space setting in a show he scored when he was fifteen: Interstellar Ian. it’s on PBS Kids, which is a educational kid’s channel here in the US that is publicly broadcasted and easily available to everyone for free via libraries and youtube and such. shows like Arthur and Sid the Science Kid aired there. it’s actually a really good resource for low-income families with kids but that’s a rant for another day. ian’s show is on their roster!

Frank scammed his way into getting Ian one of his first minor roles when he was fifteen but from there, it was all Ian working his way up. Being an actor screws with all of Ian’s plotlines/erases them even down to the earliest episodes in season one, but most of the rest of the show’s canon still plays out the same except the family’s financial strain isn’t as high for a couple years while fiona uses his income for the household. 

it kinda evens back out once ian is an adult and moves into a little apartment closer to set and becomes independent. Ian continues hosting this show into his early adulthood, even though it’s starting to become evident by season eight of Interstellar Ian that they are starting to run out of fresh content and maybe should’ve wrapped it up a few years ago. 

Instead of dating Mickey first, Ian actually meets Trevor (trans guy from around season six/seven) FIRST bc he costars on the show during some of the earlier seasons. they have a secret relationship and it eventually goes public, drama, drama, drama, and oops Trevor isn’t an actor anymore and he goes on to open his shelter/queer youth program. Ian and Trevor are on good terms by the main timeline of the fic though 

ian remains host of the show and after the initial drama, he becomes well known as a queer icon/actor, especially for young ppl who watch the show/grew up watching it

During the filming of season seven of interstellar ian, Ian also messes around with the new director on set: Caleb the ex firefighter. They don’t get caught or anything but there is still drama and they decide to step back and Not Do That Anymore 

Ian has a Thing(tm) for messing around with cute guys on the set of his show and he swears off of it forever. 

forever lasts until there is a new electrician hired to the set, reformed criminal!mickey milkovich

in this universe, mickey decided to stop being a major nuisance to the world because mandy got custody of their half-sister from earlier in the show, Molly, and he wants to be able to help them out or at least not cause more problems for them. so he took a course and is a certified electrician who signs a contract with the show because he needs long term + stable work. 

Ian can’t drive. he just doesn’t have a car, he never got a license because he got caught up in the acting thing gig around the age that he should’ve gotten it and now he has too much pride to do it. so he leaves the set an hour or two later than basically everyone else. everyone knows this, he was even given a key to the warehouse they film the show in because of it

so, when mickey starts showing up as the actors and crew are leaving to fix flickering lights and switch around wiring, the star of the show is still just There. because despite being famous and rich, his main form of transportation is the public kind and that’s inconsistent 

ian and mickey meet due to this overlap in schedules and ian spends the first chunk of the fic struggling because he doesn’t wanna mess around with another guy from set and cause unneeded drama, while mickey seems to like him- but not because he’s an actor/minor celebrity, just because he’s “pretty or whatever” 

that’s the general gist of what’s going on, but some other cool details include: svetlana stars as ian’s hairstylist/makeup artist who faked her way there with a forged cosmetology certification, mickey has one pierced ear and maybe a cat, ian takes care of franny a lot + mickey steps up for his younger half sister: molly (so you get like, familial/dad-like gallavich at a few different points), the fic is ian centric and in his pov, and there is a multi-chapter gap in the fic where gallavich “aren’t dating” but are basically in a relationship and I know some of you guys love that trope based off of most of the fics i’ve read in this fandom 

I think that’s all I wanna reveal but if you have questions or thoughts, feel free to reblog/send me an ask with them! the plot plan for this thing includes 15 chapters total and i’ve written 4 of them in their entirety. I’m thinking i’ll write all/most of the fic before I start posting it, but we’ll see what happens!

48. After awhile, do you think people got to Ian and Mickey for relationship advice?

I think they do. Based on the fact that Ian was the first Gallagher to get married and stay married, and the fact that he got married to Mickey of all people, I think people look at them as a case of actual true love and a successful relationship. They truly have been through hell and made it through to the other side, and I think the people around them recognize this.

Mickey is for sure brutally honest about relationships being hard work, whilst I think Ian sugarcoats it a bit more, especially to younger kids like Franny. It's like Ian will be like "as long as you love each other, everything will be fine" I think Mickey will be like "fuck that, shit's hard. shit's complicated and frustrating and hard fucking work, but if you really love each other all 'a that will be worth it"

They really do give great, honest advice, but they're also the first people to call shit out the way they see it. For example, if Debbie comes to them ranting and being unreasonable about her relationships, whatever they may be, Ian is the first person to call her on her shit. Mickey will straight up be like "Debs, listen, it's not gonna happen" and Ian will just nod and add "yeah, Debs, you're reading way too much into something that isn't there."

49. Gallaghers post canon: Does Lip go back to school/ gets a profession? Do all of them talk to Fiona? What happened with Debbie and Heidi/ Sandy? Franny? Does Carl open the cop bar/ stays a cop? Does Liam live with Lip and Tami? How does he deal with Franks death?

I don't think Lip ever goes back to school full time, but I could see him taking evening classes just because he misses learning. I think he's most content using his hands though, so I could see him being a handyman or doing minor repairs for people.

I think they all keep in contact with Fiona, though some people more than others. I think Lip and Ian both talk to her fairly often, as they were always the closest growing up, but I could also see Debbie getting over her abandonment issues and forgive Fiona for leaving when she did and calling her every once in a while just to catch up. I think Carl texts Fiona a lot, but I don't think he calls as much as the others. I can also see Liam taking a long time to come around to forgiving Fiona for leaving, but eventually texting her and keeping in touch. I also think Liam lives with Lip and Tami and that they end up his legal guardians after Frank's death.

Other than that I don't think I can imagine much more for them, because they're still growing and settling into themselves. They're still so fluid in my mind, and I can't really imagine much more for them. They're just living their lives, y'know.

I keep thinking about this post. And I went back to it today and have noticed that OP has sadly deleted. Which….i’m not surprised, they were so upset. I looked at the post they are referencing and I wouldn’t have known what any of those tags were either, so it obviously wasn’t their fault for accidentally liking something. I kinda get why they wanted to delete though.

I’m just really really uncomfortable with the fact that the person OP is talking about is in the fandom and on ao3. Thankfully I don’t think I’ve ever interacted with them on here or ao3. But still?

I’ve blocked and muted them on ao3. And I’ve blocked both of their blogs (oh yeah, they’ve got a fandom one, in addition to the one they’re using to post on the Gallavich tag - message me if you want to know the name so you can block, it’s not weird to ask at all, please feel free to get in contact). But I keep feeling so creeped out about all of this even though I’ve blocked them.

There are minors in this fandom and, obviously, on tumblr as a whole and it’s disturbing to know people/blogs like this are on here openly saying certain things and tumblr doesn’t seem to be proactively taking them down?!

Ugh. Sorry. I’m just so uncomfortable about all of this.

Before the Gallavich we know and love, there was a gallavich before. The untold story of Frank and Terry 💔

The Gallagher’s swore they had been in Chicago before the city was even built. Depending on who was asked, often times a Gallagher or two would swear they were in Illinois before the Irish Famine could even hit, that the Gallagher’s knew something bad was happening before the rest of the country had any sense. The later generations of Gallagher’s called bullshit on their ancestors apparent psychic instinct but it was undeniable their family had roots in the city that grew deeper than most’s.

For almost as long as the Gallagher’s ran the Southside so did the Milkovich’s. The two lineages intertwined throughout all of history. Where one was the other was soon to follow. They tended to not get along particularly well. It was always a pissing contest between the two families. Who had the most power. Who had the most influence. Which bloodline was the kings and queens of their neighbourhood. Milkovich and Gallagher’s would always give a side-eye when they saw the other tagging an old ally or shotgunning in the middle of the park but they tended to stick to themselves mostly.

With these close proximities came the obvious feuds and even more surprising close relationships.

Somehow, someway against all the odds stacked against them Mickey and Ian had managed to foster and grow a beautiful relationship that eventually bloomed into a promise to be by one another for the rest of time. As husband and husband.

A lifelong standoff of families now merged into one.

Frank stood outside the Polish Doll, throwing rice at the newlyweds, praying deeply that he was getting that car back but most of all trying to not give in to the stingy hickies bruised on his skin.

He watched as his son- nephew, whatever the fuck the ginger was in relation to him drive the car out of the villa parking lot. Liam was once again at his side as he relented the new gossip he had learned about Rudy and his homoerotic pron stash that Frank honestly thought was an impressive feat.

He wasn’t really thinking about much other than what his next drink was going to be when Liam was speaking again. Voice with the clarity of an angle, striking him straight through the chest.

“Aren’t all homophobes gay?”

His youngest -and only good one in his humbled opinion- son’s voice rang in his ear.

Frank's face dropped. He felt his pulse quicken, his grip around the cold glass of scotch he held in his hand almost completely loosened.

Suddenly it made sense to Frank why he was crying in the middle of the reception. So overcome with emotions and unable to keep his eyes from leaking tears down his flushed cheeks. He wasn’t crying because he was proud or significantly happy about the matrimony. He was crying because of Terry.

Back when they were both boys, the summer right before Frank had gone off to university they spent every second by one another’s side never straying far apart.

They ran the Southside. Got all the drugs they could ingest, made their own beer in Frank’s shitty basement. They’d spent their nights alone in abandoned buildings and old soccer fields. Anything to be in one another’s company. Laughing, dancing, getting high and picking on the other neighbourhood kids. Their relationship, good or bad or something in between was never lacking passion. Beat the shit out of one another, fucked harder than the punches they could throw.

Their months-long rapid summer love affair was seeming to be chalked up to true love. There wasn’t much in their way. A college campus an hour away and Terry’s beard girlfriend, Laura were the only minor obstacles in their treacherous ravishing devotion. That and Frank’s fear.

It was the hottest day of summer as Frank stood outside the Milkovich home’s front porch. Terry was sitting on the front step, drinking a beer, smoking a cigarette. Frank couldn’t help but note how beautiful the boy looked, glistening in sweat, a bandana splayed across his forehead making his wisps of brown hair stand at attention. The beauty of the sight was almost enough to stop Frank from carrying out his plan. He swallowed hard, going a little dizzy from the pressure. It needed to be done.

He was afraid that his love for Terry was too much. All consuming. A black hole destined to sweep him up and never let him go. So he nervously rambled through a breakup, staring down at the shoes Terry had stolen from him. Frank cleared his throat, choking back tears. He finally looked up to see his beloved. Or now ex-beloved he supposed.

He was met with sad, stormy blue eyes that made him want to crawl into the Earth and die for hurting the boy.

Frank wiped his wet eyes remaining himself that maybe one day if either were brave enough, they would soon be in one another’s embrace again. Stay there forever.

That dream was then immediately crushed when Terry ran back out with a rifle trying to shoot the dirty blonde dead.

For years, that was the last he had heard from the Milkovich boy. When Frank finally moved back to the Southside, with a wife and baby girl to account for he found out Terry had his own family now. Oh, and he was a Nazi. Frank had just cut his hair after the breakup and started doing cocaine, he thought Terry’s nazihood was a little dramatic.

Frank stifled when he realised Liam’s eyes were still on him.

“Probably so son” He bit the inside of his cheek. He knew his eyes went sad, tried his hardest to brush aside those feelings that never got quite resolved all those years ago. He swallowed hard, hand gripping his glass.

Maybe in another life, it would have worked out. ‘Not this one though’, Frank reminded himself. “Probably so”

It’s funny that JKR considers herself some kind of champion of women just because she shits on trans people when even her books are actually riddled with misogyny and favoritism towards the male characters. The Killing Eve writers (at least the head ones) have always looked at the idea of Eve and Villanelle being in a “domestic” relationship through very heteronormative lenses I think. Like…Eve and Villanelle could have very easily ended the series as a happy couple and still be a little dysfunctional and commit crimes together. Their idea of being domestic didn’t have to align with what was “normal” and I don’t think anyone ever really wanted or expected that.

But the writers are too black and white and simple minded to think like that I guess.

Will never get over the big brained storytelling of Fear Street. The cop who played the hero the entire trilogy and his rich ancestors turned out to be the villains the whole time. And the “witch” who was scapegoated as being the cause of the curse was completely innocent and was persecuted and punished simply for being gay and loving another woman. Like, I’ll be screaming about that years from now.

I do think it’s funny how Eve and Villanelle have both caused extreme bodily harm to the other (the stabbing and shooting) and yet Villanelle frets over Eve having a minor injury on her hand and Eve loses her shit when Helene has Villanelle shot with an arrow.

It’s very “no one is allowed to do that except me” of them.

My #1 post of 2022

I don’t know where the KE writers ever got the idea that Eve is someone that is “meant” for a normal life and just got dragged into the chaos by Villanelle. It actually goes against the core of her character lmao. (And it is a pattern with them bc Emerald Fennel said similar shit about Eve in her post S2 interviews). In the beginning, Eve was literally introduced as someone that was bored with her normal life, which is why she started chasing Villanelle in the first place.

Eve is a woman who has canonically:

- Broke laws and got someone killed in her determination to track Villanelle

- Repeatedly gaslit her husband and put his life at risk in her obsession

- Stabbed Villanelle while they were lying in bed together

- Seriously contemplated pushing a man in front of a bus for being rude to her

- Left a man for dead in order to save Villanelle

- Gleefully helped finish off killing Dasha (and then later agreed with Villanelle that it was romantic that they both killed her lol)

- Unapologetically shot Konstantin

- Admitted that she wanted Villanelle to fuel to her “monster”

- Kidnapped a child

- Got visibly horny watching Villanelle kill Helene

- Gorged out Gunn’s eyeballs

And you’re trying to say this woman would function well in normal society? Lmao.

Anyway, I remember when Sandra Oh said that the finale could be described as “killing Eve” even though Eve didn’t technically die. I take this to mean that she thinks killing Villanelle IS killing Eve in a sense and that scream after she resurfaces the water is one of complete despair at losing the one person who truly understood and accepted her. Eve’s ending was just as tragic as Villanelle’s.

I take her word on Eve’s character over Laura Neal’s, whose only been with these character for 1 full season.
