Genya Shinazugawa x Male Reader Oneshot (Wattpad)

Title: "Gganbu"

Genre—Angst

AU—Squid Games (Yk what to expect from this OS)

A/N : Sorry for any misspelled words or bad grammar!!

It was the marble game. Gunshots and screams quickly fill the air.

"Player 130, Eliminated"

Y/N and Genya were partners and found out how they should play the game.

"You should go first. Since your number is lower." Y/N said, looking at the wall in front of them to play.

Genya nodded, grabbing a marble before slightly crouching down to toss the marble which rolled and stopped close to the brick wall.

He slowly stood straight, looking back at Y/N. "Your turn." He says, stepping back.

Y/N slightly smiled at him, before taking a marble too and stood in the area Genya previously stood in.

Y/N looked at the wall for a bit as he held the marble in his hand, twirling it around. He then looked at the marble in his hand before just dropping it in front of him.

He moved out of the area and looked at Genya. Genya's eyes widened, taken back at what Y/N did.

"..Y/N. What are you doing?!" He asked, pushing the taller man roughly to a wall. They both made eye contact.

"I lost, you won."

"Stop.. Why the hell would you try to do that?!" Genya yelled, gripping onto Y/N's clothing. "Ah, butter fingers. It happens." Y/N says, not fighting back.

"What you said.. Making sure I won. Is that what this is?" Genya questioned, not breaking eye contact with the (E/C) eyes. "Do you think that I'll be grateful that you did this?!"

Y/N only weakly laughed.

"Throw again." Genya commanded.

"And I still wouldn't be able to win. At least, let me lose this thing in stylee~" Y/N says as he scoffed.

"Y/N, STOP SPITTING BULLSHIT! STOP TRYING TO ACT COOL AND DO A REAL THROW!" Genya yelled as tears filled his eyes.

Y/N looked at the almost broken state of Genya before speaking.

"I have nothing... and you got a reason to get out of this place.. I surely don't."

Genya had a tear fell out of his eye as his breathing was shaky.

"I thought about what I'd do..If I was the one who got out since you asked me about it earlier. As hard as I thought about it. I really got nothing.."

Y/N now also had tears in his eyes, only slightly smiling to lighten the mood which was not working.

"The one who should have a reason to get back out there..that's what's right."

Genya had tears rolling down his face within this point. His head slightly shaking in disagreement.

"You can do this.. Just don't die in here, alright? Go make your nemi proud." Y/N says, wiping away Genya's tears. Genya slightly leaned into his lover's touch.

Soon one of the red soldiers came and stood there. Making their presence known, Y/N began to remove his hands away from Genya's face which Genya stopped by putting his hands on top of Y/N's.

Y/N planted a kiss onto Genya's head before moving away from Genya, feeling himself going into tears.

Genya finally walked away from Y/N, unwillingly and walking behind the red soldier.

"Genya!"

Y/N yelled making both the red soldier and Genya stop but not turning back to him.

Y/N swallowed down his sob before putting on a smile.

"Thank you.. for playing with me!" Y/N says loud enough for Genya to hear.

The sound of the gun cock was heard and then the gun shooting.

Soon a thud was heard after. Genya flinched at the loud bang. Biting his quivering lip, he continued walking with the red soldier.

"Player 034, Eliminated"

2023 Random Highlights

Since it's the end of the year here are some things:

Best Hour of Television: Squid Game Episode 6, Gganbu / 깐부

Obviously this episode relies on the buildup of the first five episodes, but still ... This is easily the most emotionally engaging, devastating, and cathartic episode of TV I have seen in a long time. I was ugly weeping at the end. It was great. The show has weaknesses as well as strengths, but this episode was nearly damn perfect.

Big Craft Project: Memory Quilt for Spouse

I've been working on this king size quilt for more than a year, but this year I finished piecing both the front and the back! The front just needs a few embellishments and then I could be ready for basting as early as next week. Might it be completed in 2024? That would be nice. (I probably won't ever post pictures of this to Tumblr, alas; because it's a memory quilt, it has personally identifying info on it.)

Big Thing I Did

I finally started posting Out of Eden to AO3! This story and universe mean so much to me. They have lived in my head for 10 years. Most of the people I used to talk about this story with when it was starting to form in my head have long left fandom, but new folks have shown up and I am so glad it has found people who love it.

New Foods I Tried and Liked

Tamarind fruit in the pod (I'd only had tamarind in the form of tamarind paste before). The structure of the pods is super interesting and fun to peel apart.

Notable Things I Got Rid Of (And I'm Glad I Did)

Deck chairs, old depressing journals, our wobbly elliptical; and a lot of other things only I don't remember what they were

Things I Downsized

Reduced our number of spice jars from 36 to 24 (for some reason this felt like a huge achievement) and we also shrank our insanely large cat tree collection (don't worry we aren't depriving anyone, there are multiple things to climb in every room)

If “Squid Game” was a “Dark Pictures Anthology” game:

“‘Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of’. A quote from the humorist Henry Wheeler Shaw. As we can see from the poor, unfortunate souls who were lured to this game of horror on the promise of getting out of their debt, this quote still rings true to this day.”

“So, now that you have had a taste of this capitalistic nightmare, let’s see how you’re faring.”

“Jun-ho is deep in his infiltration in the game in search of his missing brother. But as we’ll see, there is more to this mystery than just a simple disappearance.

“Alas, a name has appeared on my ledger. What a shame, but fret not; Ali Abdul made his choice to stick by his so-called friend. Unfortunately, the only friend he now has is the eternal darkness of death.”

“Sang-woo lives to play another game. While I understand the desire to keep his light going past the finish line, there is more than one way to play. Just my two cents; perhaps Sang-woo should’ve chosen Deok-su as his partner?”

“Sae-byeok wins, Ji-yeong falls. Maybe in another life, these two could’ve gone to see Jeju Island in all its glory. But don’t despair; you kept her alive. Good job.”

“And finally, Gi-hun. He finally learned 001’s name and became his gganbu, but only at the last second.”

“One down, four remaining. The night is almost over and there is still room for more to join the dark. Now, while I do enjoy these talks, we must continue this story until its horrifying end. I’ll remain here to greet your charges as they cross the finish line…or to add their names to my ledger. There’s still plenty of room for new names…”

Reasoning for the above:

* In my head, the game choice would be for the player playing as Sang-woo to choose between Deok-su and Ali. If the player chooses Deok-su, both Ali and Sang-woo would’ve lived. If the player does choose Ali, then either Ali or Sang-woo will die, (so there is a version where Ali is the survivor).

* Sae-byeok could’ve died in this act as well. If Ji-yeong wins, since she’s a NPC, she’s scripted to die in the next act anyways.

* As a whole, either Sang-woo or Ali, Gi-hun and Jun-ho are guaranteed to still be alive in the final act. This is mainly because in the Dark Pictures games, at least two-three characters are guaranteed plot armor until the end.

PLAYABLE CHARACTERS (there’s always 5 in these games):

1) Seong Gi-hun: IMPULSIVE, HEADSTRONG, INSECURE

2) Cho Sang-woo: ARROGANT, AMBITIOUS, ABRASIVE

3) Kang Sae-byeok: COMPLEX, ANTISOCIAL, COURAGEOUS

4) Ali Abdul: INNOCENT, COMPASSIONATE, LOYAL

5) Hwang Jun-ho: CALM, COMMANDING, RATIONAL

squid game was not that great.... it started strong and went down after gganbu. Alice in Borderlands was amaze fun tho

omg literally I'm that annoying person that goes "you should watch alice in borderland it's sooo much better" whenever people bring up squid game.

and I do think it's still a good show like it has a strong cast and imo maybe the ones who actually deserved that emmy was hoyeon or haesoo for supporting actors.... but I just don't think jungjae had a better portrayal than jeremy strong or bob odenkirk tbh
