Israel “is very efficient in manipulating propaganda and brainwashing all over the world,” and is “the only occupier in history which presents itself as a victim.” … is the world duty to interfere … the World must force peace on Israel.  - Gideon Levy , israeli journalist .

Gideon Levy, Israeli journalist covering this occupation for 40 years. : "Don't speak about symmetry, there is no symmetry, I would even go so far as to suggest there is no conflict. Was there a French / Algerian conflict? No! There was a brutal French occupation in Algeria. Which came to an end. And there is no Israeli / Palestinian "conflict" , there is a brutal Israeli occupation which must come to an end one way or the other. In our backyard, there is a regime, which is today by far one of the most cruel brutal tyrannies on earth, and I know what I say, because I cover it for 40 years, and this regime, cannot be defined, but as an apartheid. Two peoples live on one piece of land, one people has all of the rights in the world, and I am talking now only about the occupied territories; one people has all the rights in the world the other people have no rights whatsoever, it looks like apartheid it talks like apartheid it IS APARTHEID.

It always has been like this, hasn't it? Israeli regime has always been committing crimes, since the beginning, and it's not new, and protesting against those crimes is not new either. Yes; the number of people who are joining the rallies and the number of cities which these rallies are taking place in them are new; but these rallies only took place after the October 7... You know what's really new? The October 7.

“We started it. We started it with the occupation, and we are duty-bound to end it—a real and complete ending. We started the violence. There is no violence worse than the violence of the occupier, using force on an entire nation, so the question about who fired first is therefore an evasion meant to distort the picture.”
― Gideon Levy, The Punishment of Gaza , 2010.

I feel like I've seen Haaretz as not a great source. They seem to be extremely critical of Israel, to the point it seems like self-tokenization. I swore I heard they had a Nazi funder, but I can't remember the source or details for that. Wondering if you know anything here. For lack of better words, dirt
Haaretz has about 3-4% of the Israeli newspaper market share. From 2006-2019 they were 25% owned by DuMont Schauberg, a German publishing firm that had strong links to Nazis - you can see more on their Wikipedia page. For what it's worth, that partnership is over. "Extreme criticism" is a good way to put it, as they are comfortable with criticism that urges or excuses killing Jews, and don't issue retractions or give punishments for false stories. There are appallingly many examples, please read THIS and then THIS, and follow all the links from them too. Long story short, Haaretz seems openly furious that Israel has left their favored politics behind, and responded to this by turning into half-crazed edgelords writing the most provocative and dishonest headlines possible.

"Let's just remember that many unexpectable things happen in history, and we could not expect them. Let's remember an expression which is not mine: that in this part of the world one should be realistic enough to believe in miracles, so let's believe in miracles."
Gideon Levy on BBC HARDtalk (x)
After discussing the difficulty of being an Israeli critic of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians, and the seeming hopelessness of the current situation, Levy refused to end the interview on a down note - instead ending with this.
