Remember when Johnny Jewel sent away free vinyl records from his own label? I was fortunate to have five of them sent to me. But, that wasn't enough. Why stop there? I ordered some all-time favorites in Desire, Chromatics, Glass Candy, the first two Italians Do It Better compilations, and more.
It all started when a fellow dee-jay played "Warm In The Winter" on her midnight show. They became the sounds of a personal resurrection from a miserable time in my life, the Spring- and Summertime when I dated my heroin-addicted ex-, and the two-week Winter stay in Hauppauge. So good were the sounds that I returned the favor and did a special on-air tribute when I had my own show.
