im still reeling from gohan outright stating that he doesn't like fighting. everything he's been through since he was 4 years old up to adulthood. and he doesn't like fighting. every exhausting training he's had, every battle he's ever fought, every victory or defeat, every villain he's ever had to face for the sake of the world. and he doesn't like fighting. he's just a kid who wants to make the people he loves proud

Ideas for DBZ x MLP crossovers:
-rainbow dash races Vegeta and Goku (whether she wins or loses everyone is goddamn impressed at how fast she can move without ki-based flight)
-sequel where Vegeta teaches RD ki control bc he wants to fight her and she's like 'that sounds awesome please teach me to shoot lasers'
-fluttershy and Gohan talk about bugs for a looooong time
-goku claims that he and Vegeta are friends. Twilight does not believe him. Ideally at least part of this fic is just twi's scientific journal on friendship as she studies vegeta
-twilight and bulma discuss science; twilight reveals that in her world, magic is a kind of science (nerds)
-z fighters v. Discord (idk if discord can move fast enough to counter the z fighters- may have to be a friendly match)
-recreate that one discord + CMC comic but with goten and trunks instead
-idk I want a Krillin fic. Rainbow dash would be impressed with krillin's guts. He and AJ would probably get along. Idk. maybe Krillin can go to equestrian and do some stuff.
-the mane 6 turn the newest threat to stone after the Z-Fighters get it to a standstill. Everybody is equally impressed with each other.
-goku doesn't really like sweets so pinkie vows to create a recipe he will enjoy so they can have a fair pie-eating contest
-princes luna agress to just stuff the Saiyans full of blutz waves to see what fucking happens. SSGSSJ4 happens. It is very cool and completely impractical
-um. Starlight and piccolo have a hashtag bonding moment and maybe she agrees to teach him some magical basics. Sure.

Ohai, does my fic seem too long and intimidating? But do you still want to give it a shot, but can't commit the time and energy to a longfic?
The premise you need:
Future Trunks is a girl and wears a binder / hides her gender because ~reasons~. She wanted to come clean to the gang after her birth, but main timeline Trunks was born a boy (and at a different date than she was).
The story is divided in different arcs. The first three arcs cover the entire canon Android Saga and as such, are somewhat canon compliant. Some spoilers for the story of course.. (in italics, some chapters you can read on their own).
Trunks arc:
Trunks appears, yeets Frieza, gives the warning but instead of going back home immediately, she stays for a little while to use the Dragon Balls. And train a little with Goku, Gohan and Piccolo on one hand, and Vegeta on the other.
Spar: instead of doing nothing during the 3 hours wait before Goku arrives, someone starts a fight with the mysterious youth.
Goku: Goku finally arrives, and the mysterious youth delivers the warning to the entire gang, and gives the medicine.
Vegeta; Trunks fights/trains with Vegeta before she can use the Dragon Balls.
Android Arc:
Trunks' second trip to the past makes her land a bit later than anticipated. They meet (and fight) 17 and 18, 16 doesn't fight, and the Cyborgs (+ 1 Android) decide to go on their merry way and find Goku, who, of course, fell ill. Baby Trunks was born male, and at another date than she was, enter existential crisis mode, plus a bunch of fighters who now know who she is. Or rather, who she's meant to be. And there's a new Time Machine...?
Family: just after being beaten up by the Androids, and taking that strange Time Machine back to Capsule Corp for analysis, Trunks is welcomed back to Capsule Corp as a family member.
Siblings: Trunks explains to Bulma the different timelines while dealing with the existential crisis of the new Time Machine.
Cell arc:
The Time Machine was discovered, but most importantly, its monster has appeared, and everything goes to hell. Room of Spirit and Time, the certainty that the monster killed another version of Trunks (who was, it seems, male as well) to steal the machine, the possibility of a future Bulma left alone, and dealing with the fact that Gohan, precious Gohan, wants to fight and learn to become a super Saiyan.. Trunks can't accept that and has a frank discussion about it with him and Goku, that Hybrids are different. She ends up bonding with Vegeta and finally calls him her father, all while still hiding her gender and situation. Of course that goes to hell when Vegeta decides to let Cell become perfect. Some serious punching is warranted, if they survive the Cell Games...
Birthday: Celebrating Gohan's 9th birthday (post-Cell appearing, before he became perfect) with everyone, while Goku is still recovering.
Father: the meat of the fighting in the HTC for Trunks and Vegeta.
The talks: just afterwards, some "biology" education situation.
Purpose arc:
This is where the true divergence happens. Instead of going straight home to 784, Trunks decides to make sure the Cyborgs are no threat to 767... And she goes with Gohan and Krillin to 787 to rez Dead!Trunks. And blow up a lab. And steal some hardware. And meet her older, male!self.. and 787's Gohan and Videl (!). And tell that Bulma and male!Trunks, as well as Gohan and Krillin about how she got her sword because clearly those events haven't happened in 767 nor in 787. Once back in 767, there's also a healthy dose of her relationship with Vegeta, whether to forgive him, to see what he's done and hasn't done, and Gohan confesses he's in love with her (nothing outrageous.. all while still thinking fem!Trunks is male; little by little though, some people find out she's a girl :p). There's also taking Krillin to a date with Android 18 and mayhaps be alright. Trunks eventually goes back home to 784, kills her cyborgs and blows up her lab before Cell hatches. But not all is well.
Tapion: 784-Trunks explains to 787-Trunks, 787-Bulma, 787-Dende, and 767 Gohan and 767 Krillin how she got her sword.
Uranai Baba: Uranai Baba can finally come back from Otherworld with a guest to 787.
Love: In 767, before Trunks goes back home to 784, Gohan confesses.
Solitude arc:
784's Future Bulma decides to take her Trunks back to the main timeline, but she aims for 774 instead for a bunch of reasons; she wants to enroll Trunks in school. Even if she's just under 19, she dropped out because, well, apocalypse. Main Timeline Bulma pulls some strings and gets her to be enrolled in the same year as Gohan because, well, of course she would. Future Bulma and Future Trunks take pseudonyms as to not confuse the kids, and go by Tights ("stealing my sister's name lol") and Tora (the name Trunks used when she stayed during the Trunks arc) and still present as male. This arc covers the Saiyaman Arc, except it's with Tapion (!) and the Buu arc (except it's with some other interference..)
School: Trunks ("Tora") was thrown into school and meets 16yo Gohan, who has grown taller than her since. And all of his classmates.
Flying: Where Videl wants to learn to fly and Goten and Trunks discover that 'Tora', Trunks' "cousin" can go Super.
Dares: Drinking games with the school kids. Nothing nefarious, but Android 17 is involved so expect some shenanigans...!

Would Batman be capable of sneaking up on Son Goku, or any of the Z-Warriors (Vegeta, Son Gohan, Piccolo, Eighteen, Krillin, Tenshinhan, Yamcha & Majin Boo) in your opinion?
To clarify; I don’t mean “who would win in a fight” - I’m speaking solely of the Z-Fighter’s ability to sense people - would Bruce, or any of the related Bat-family heroes, be able to get the drop on any of them in the trademark Batman manner?
If my memory is correct, Batman has an understanding of ki from his training. So, he would know how to mask his presence similar to the Z Fighters concealing their ki so he can be very stealthy. So, I think Batman & some of the Bat-fam could sneak up on all of them.
Although, I think Vegeta & Gohan would be the easiest to sneak up on. This is due to Vegeta not knowing Trunks could turn SSJ despite living in the same house & Gohan not knowing Goten could turn SSJ despite living in the same house. I think Goten & Trunks would be easy to sneak up on too because they aren't really martial artists like the others & don't have in-depth spiritual training. And I believe that Saiyans have more difficulty sensing ki due to the spiritual side not being their strong point (other than Goku who was raised as an Earthling martial artist).
I believe that the others Z Fighters are a bit more aware of their surroundings mainly due to their training under Kami. But, I think Piccolo would probably be the most difficult to sneak up on since as a Warrior Clan Namekian. He is often always aware of his surroundings and has greater hearing than the rest of the Z Fighters. So, the Bat-fam would have the most difficulty with Piccolo unless they use a device that masks their movement at a pitch Piccolo can't hear (or something like that).
Krillin might be the most aware after Piccolo due to Krillin always being around 18. She may have undetectable energy signatures, but it's just as if 18 is always suppressing her energy since she can donate to the Genki Dama (she obviously has life energy because she is alive). So, Krillin has become used to being around a that person most, if not all but him, can't sense.
Dabura is an example of a person who can sense others despite them suppressing their ki. From what I can conclude, it seems Dabura sensed their living presence (a different part of ki that is always present for living beings even if faint) rather than sensing their suppressed battle power.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Krillin would more than likely be more aware of suppressed ki than the others due to being able to sense 18's presence. But, Piccolo is still the most difficult to sneak upon for the Bat-fam due to his alertness & super hearing.
Forgot to talk about Buu. I don't think it would be too difficult to sneak up on Buu. But it depends on if he is distracted, asleep, or just being unconcerned. Buu is usually laid back now. So, if the Bat-fam wanted, they can sneak up on him easily by distraction. But being found out would be scary.

Tuffle Lore: DBZ #20
I’ve been meaning to revisit the topic of Tuffle lore, and so I decided I should re-watch the episode where they were first introduced.  And I’ve got nothing going on at the moment, so let’s do it now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is Episode 20 of Dragon Ball Z.  It’s a filler episode, so I don’t know if any of this footage made it into Kai, but if you’re not familiar with this one, I’ll give you a quick recap.  Goku is training in the afterlife to prepare for the Saiyan invasion.  He’s just passed King Kai’s challenge to catch Bubbles, so now King Kai gives him a harder test, which is to hit Gregory on the head with a mallet. Meanwhile, Piccolo trains Gohan, whose right eye is swollen shut for the whole episode.  Also, Master Roshi asks Baba to predict the outcome of the coming battle, and Baba can’t see anything in her crystal ball.  The fate of the Earth is too uncertain to predict.  Also, the rest of the Z-Fighters complete their training on Kami’s Lookout, and Yajirobe bites Krillin on the ass.
Tumblr media
However, the real meat-and-potatoes of this episode is when Goku takes a break for dinner, and King Kai offers to tell him more about the Saiyans.  At this point in the story, Goku only recently learned that he was a Saiyan sent to Earth as a baby, and all he knows about his people is what little he heard from his evil brother, Raditz.  Much of King Kai’s tale would be contradicted over time, but this episode still stands out as a tantalizing peek into the history of the Saiyans before they were under Frieza’s rule.  And this is one of the few sources for information on the Tuffles, the Saiyans’ mysterious enemies.
What I decided to do here was to just screenshot this part of the episode and transcribe all the subtitles.  The dub version of King Kai’s story is pretty good too, but some of the details are changed, and since this is a filler episode, the Japanese script is about as close to a primary source as possible.
Incidentally, “Tuffle” is a localized name for the “Tsufuru-jin”, just as “Saiyan” is a localization of “Saiya-jin”.  The Funimation subtitles refers to the Tuffles as “Tsufruians.”
Tumblr media
“Once upon a time... There were two races of people who lived on a world named Planet Vegeta.  The Saiyans, who are your forebears, and the Tsufruians.”
Tumblr media
“Planet Vegeta, like my own planet here, had an extremely strong gravity.   As a result, the Tsufruians, who controlled the larger half of Planet Vegeta, were a race whose bodies were only about half the size of the Saiyans.  However, they had a remarkable, comparatively advanced level of civilization.”
Tumblr media
“On the other hand, the Saiyans were a race that was very few in numbers, but their bodies were bigger, not to mention stronger, and they were an aggressive, primitive race.  The tails the Saiyans had were their greatest distinguishing characteristic.  They were all warrior-like people, as it were.”
Tumblr media
“At one point, these warriors bared their fangs, and started to overrun the Tsufruians.  The Tsufruians greeted them with advanced weaponry of their own making.  The Saiyans, who should have been utterly outnumbered, were incredibly strong, and gradually, they brought the Tsufruians under their control.”
Tumblr media
“The decisive factor was the full moon, which appeared on Planet Vegeta once every eight years.  That's because when Saiyans see the full moon, they transform into monsters.  For the Tsufruians, this was their greatest threat, and they suffered the most damage this way.   And so, little by little, as the Tsufruians civilization pulled back, the Saiyans quickly increased their numbers.  In time, they completely took over Planet Vegeta.”
Tumblr media
“Then the Saiyans took off into space, seeking to fight even more.   However, since the Tsufruians had been exterminated, further development of their civilization was slow to occur.  They realized that even though they wanted to fight, they could not go out any farther into space.  So the Saiyans joined forces with rich, advanced alien civilizations, and in exchange for furnishing planets to these aliens for use in developing vacation estates, they were able to obtain technology and money.  For the battle-hungry Saiyans, this was killing two birds with one stone.”
Tumblr media
“The Saiyans' activities escalated swiftly, and they even started sending babies to many other worlds, as was your case.  They had come up with long-term plans, whereby once the baby grew up, it would exterminate the planet's population.”
Tumblr media
“But Planet Vegeta had its own Kami.  He could not bear the Saiyans' evil deeds, and using his own powers, he pulled close some giant meteors, which then collided with Planet Vegeta, causing it to explode.”
Tumblr media
“Including yourself, there were only four Saiyans that survived.”
And, there we have it. Tell you what, I’ll just make a list of the details that later turned out to be continuity gaffes.
1) It would later be established that the planet was named “Plant” before the Saiyans conquered it and renamed it “Vegeta”.
2) This episode seems to be the only instance of the Tuffles being half the size of the Saiyans.  In other appearances, the Tuffles are shown to be normal-sized humanoids.
3) 1993′s Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans introduced the idea of the Saiyans arriving on the Tuffles’ planet and being accepted as refugees.  However, a flashback in Dragon Ball GT suggests that the Saiyans invaded the planet from the start. In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta states that the Saiyans had lived on another planet called Sadala before emigrating to Planet Vegeta.  Any way you slice it, it looks like the Saiyans were not native to Planet Vegeta, as DBZ #20 suggests.
4) Furthermore, 2011′s Episode of Bardock introduces the Plantians, who inhabited Planet Plant/Vegeta in the distant past.  No Tuffles are seen in that special, suggesting that the Tuffles were not native to the planet either.
5) DBZ #20 shows Tuffle soldiers using scouters, the implication being that they were a Tuffle invention that the Saiyans later adopted for their own use.  In 2018′s Dragon Ball Super: Broly, it’s Frieza who issues the scouters to the Saiyans for the first time, well after the Tuffles have already been wiped out.
6) King Kai probably shouldn’t have told Goku about the Saiyans transforming during a full moon, since that sort of borks up the big reveal in Episode 31 and 32, when Vegeta transforms and Goku realizes that he must have been the one who killed Grandpa Gohan.  Then again, it took Goku a while to figure it out, even when Vegeta was transforming right in front of him, so maybe he wasn’t paying attention to this part of King Kai’s story.  Let’s face it, Goku isn’t the sharpest knife in the crayon box.
7) The biggest plot hole is the part where King Kai authoritatively states that it was the Kami of Planet Vegeta who summoned the world-ending meteor shower that Raditz spoke of.  In truth, it was Frieza who destroyed Planet Vegeta and spread the meteor shower story to cover up the truth.  While we can forgive King Kai for not being aware of what really happened, it’s weird how he offers context to a version of events that never took place.  Then again, Planet Vegeta would have had its own Kami, who must have been displeased with the Saiyans, so maybe that Kami planned to destroy the planet, and King Kai was aware of these plans, but he never knew that Frieza beat the Kami to the punch.   For that matter, maybe Frieza stopped Vegeta’s Kami from summoning the meteor shower, because he wanted to wait until the whole population was on the planet before pulling the trigger.
8) Uh sure, King Kai, only four surviving Saiyans.
All that being said, a lot of elements in this story still hold up today, probably  because of Toriyama’s input on this episode, including the Tuffle concept.  For example:
1) The Saiyan population is quite low in King Kai’s story, which would be echoed in Dragon Ball Minus, which states that there are roughly 10,000 Saiyans around the time Planet Vegeta was destroyed.
2) While the Kami of Planet Vegeta has been retconned to hell, the basic concept of a god condemning the Saiyans to extinction resembles the way Beerus authorized Planet Vegeta’s destruction, as revealed in Battle of Gods.
3) The Saiyans’ primitive buildings in this episode look a lot like the lumpy, misshapen houses seen in Dragon Ball Minus and DBS: Broly.  And yet the larger, more advanced buildings, like King Vegeta’s palace and the elite nursery, are comparable to the Tuffle cities. So the idea of Planet Vegeta being this world of contrasts has carried on across 30+ years.
Anyway, that’s all I have.......... for now.
Oh, right, can’t talk about this episode without mentioning Knife Lady. 💗🗡️

Its kinda funny rewatching and rereading Dragon Ball and noticing significant shifts in the roles of Piccolo and Vegeta.
Piccolo was VERY quickly shafted during the Saiyan arc. He went from being Goku’s arch enemy and technically the big bad of two arcs back to back to being yet another guy who has to hope Goku will show up quick enough to save the day. And he never really gets out of that spot. Yeah, sure he gets his little power ups with Nail and Kami, but they’re very blink-and-you-miss-it in terms of relevancy. He gets his short scuffle with Freeza in the manga and a longer one in the anime, the exposition dump with Cell and the scuffle with #17 that ultimately do nothing but stall for time before its back to the “oh noes where Goku” corner for him. He essentially pulls a Tenshinhan during the Piccolo Daimao arc, right down to the extremely quick change of heart.
The Boo arc handled him the best, all things considered. Toriyama stopped trying to give him quick fix power ups to play catch up with all the Super Saiyan stuff and utilized him as a trusted and wise mentor figure for the younger generation. Granted, Gohan and Gotenks achieved diddly squat in the end, but still. And it’s always funny comparing his psychotic self from the 23rd tournament and his frustrated grandpa self from the whole Gotenks vs Boo fight. Though I wish he was more proactive or active in general. Him giving up against the Kaioshin? What the fuck was that? And they took his one cool moment where he sliced Babidi away from him with the little scrotum sack surviving.
As for his redemption, while I absolutely love it (especially in the anime), it was done far too quickly. You could still have his love for Gohan and keep his animosity/rivalry with Goku up until he merges with Kami. Now an argument could be made that him actually killing Goku freed him from his vow/debt/mission/goal/purpose/whatever and thus led him to change so quickly, it would’ve been interesting to see him still be that ally who wasn’t fully trusted for a bit longer.
Vegeta on the other hand has a change in characterization that I have yet to decide if its genius in its subtlety or just Toriyama settling on how to write him.
Vegeta in the Saiyan arc and the Freeza arc is prideful, yes, but he was also cunning and fought dirty. If someone was stronger than him? He’d acknowledge it and try to gain any advantage he could. Ginyu Force too tough for him to handle on his own? Fuck it, he’ll team up with Gohan and Krillin to stand a chance. An opponent’s back it exposed to him? Stick the knife in the back and twist, twist, TWIIIIIST. Anything to score a win and survival.
But then the Cell arc happens and he becomes a Super Saiyan. Now he’s all about this so-called “saiyan pride” garbage and deluding himself into being the besterest fighter manz who has no equal. Refusing to admit anyone could possibly be better than him even when he gets his shit kicked in twelve times over. Now he has issues with teaming up because it goes against his saiyan/warrior pride and nonsense like that. Outright stating that if it came down to teamng up with Piccolo, the earthlings or Goku, he’d rather fight alone and die. Its why we get dumb moments like him wanting to let Gero activate #17 and #18 so he can fight them and letting Cell absorb #18. And that personality more or less sticks until he comes back to help Goku fight Boo.
His “redemption arc” that everyone fawns over is also one of the sloppiest character developments I’ve ever seen in fiction or even Dragon Ball itself.
Take off your headcanon glasses off for a moment (and the dub’s coloring of Vegeta’s entire character *cough his dying speech to Goku on Namek cough*) and you’ll see that he shows no redeeming qualities until he sacrifices himself against Boo.
So after leading the mini-invasion and being responsible for the deaths of Yamcha, Chaozu, Tenshinhan, Piccolo and then the Namekian villagers, the Dragon Team, especially Bulma, just kind of...accepts this guy into their circle even though he’s shown no remorse for what he’s done barely a year ago, nor shown any affection for anyone or even done a single selfless act. At least with Piccolo, you had Goku, Krillin and of course Gohan all be there to vouch for him because they saw him protect Gohan or help out when he could without any of the “I simply need you alive” excuse. And Bulma and Chi-Chi were still afraid and distrusting of him at the time so he wasn’t fully accepted quite yet. But Vegeta? Nah, he cool.
And then he and Bulma bang because dammit, we need more golden haired fighter dudes. Nevermind he was responsible for your last boyfriend’s death. Does that somehow give way to any redeeming qualities?
...not really. When Gero attacks the aircraft Bulma and baby Trunks were in, Vegeta didn’t even fart in their direction and when Future Trunks confronts him about it, he plainly states he doesn’t give a damn. And we’re never shown otherwise. He even kills the truck driver without so much as a second though during his fight with #18.
Its only when Cell kills Future Trunks that he shows any kind of affection for anyone.
Then the Boo arc happens. And this may just be me, but I never got the feeling he really cared or loved Bulma and Trunks up until his iconic sacrifice. He came across as if he was merely tolerating them, because without Goku around, he’s lost his goal. His motivation. So he settled on living and training at Capsule Corp because what else is he gonna do?
Then the whole Majin Vegeta spiel happens and everyone is so shocked and surprised that the murderous space mercenary who has shown zero redeeming qualities in all these years would turn against them?! Who could have seen this coming?! And its where the saiyan pride speeches come out swinging again.
:/
At this point he’s such a far cry from the scheming, smart and pragmatic Vegeta he was during the Saiyan and Freeza arc and I simply can’t chalk it up to any real “character development” rather than just Toriyama needing another punching bag to show how powerful the new baddie is.
But when he comes back? Oh yes, that’s when we finally see the change in mentality and behaviour Not simply told in a final speech or gesture before death. No, we’re shown it in how he interacts with Goku, how he thinks, how he fights, the absolutely hellish beating he takes to let Goku rest up or charge the spirit bomb. THAT’S when he becomes a natural mix of the two opposite personalities he’s given. That’s when Vegeta was smart and interesting again.
I know this has devolved into a rambling tangent about Vegeta’s redemption arc, but its still interesting to see and I wish more people discussed stuff like this rather than the constant who is stronger debates or which rainbow colored transformation is better.

I was talking to my buddy about an old post of mine where I said I want more Dragon Ball movie villains to come back and get either movies or small arcs dedicated to them and building up the non-Goku/Vegeta cast, and we came up with a few new ideas
Dr. Wheelo works as a recurring antagonist, as he can be a good excuse for multiple older concepts to be revisited. To start off, he enhances Tao Pai Pai to be a viable threat, giving Tien a good opponent with some personal significance. Yamcha may also be there to fight Wheelo himself, but it does seem like they're pushing Yamcha to just be a normal guy, so maybe not. Could also be a fun way to revisit Launch if we have a Tien-focused story
Androids 13, 12 and 11 are then brought back by Wheelo to fight 17, 18 and Gamma. When 13 goes Super Android by absorbing his teammates, Hedo finds a way for the good Androids to power up without absorbing each other. Wheelo has also upgraded himself since fighting Yamcha, giving Krillin an opponent for the arc
Bio-Broly is Wheelo's last creation, which would give Broly a reasonably strong enemy to fight without shoehorning him into any of the other villains' stories. It could also serve as a fun way to have DBS Broly fight an approximation of DBZ Broly, as he could reuse the old design with some tweaks
Tapion's return and training with Trunks causes a rift between him and Goten, which ultimately results in Trunks being too powerful for the two of them to perform Fusion anymore. After Trunks and Tapion defeat Hirudegarn with minimal help from Goten, Goten goes off on his own for a while to become a stronger fighter in his own right
Bojack then becomes an antagonist for Goten specifically, allowing for a more accurate recreation of Teen Gohan vs. Bojack now that Gohan has aged out of the part. Goten's new power differentiates him from Trunks significantly, and makes their fusion in the next arc they appear in more notable as it will combine their new disparate traits instead of just doubling up on Saiyan traits
Garlic Jr., similarly, becomes an antagonist for Pan to parallel how he was defeated by kid Gohan without the need to rescale him too much. However, if we don't want Pan to have a major win this early, we could have Pan fight his first form and then use his power-up to explore Gohan's Beast form and possibly get some insight into Orange Piccolo, since Garlic is inherently related to Piccolo's backstory
Lord Slug, then, further expands on whatever hints we get about Piccolo by having an Orange form of his own, perhaps a mastered or elevated version of it with more unique traits. Given that Piccolo is a merging of Warrior- and Dragon-clan Namekians, perhaps it could have two modes and we've only seen the Warrior-mode. Potentially more interesting, Piccolo could need to overcome Slug's Orange form by finding King Piccolo's soul in Hell and taking on his Demon-clan abilities, truly making him a mix of all forms of Namekian. This would also be a good time to give the Orange form a real name
Turles is still introduced as a Universe 6 Saiyan, interrupting Vegeta training Cabba (+Caulifla and Kale), but now that Ultra Ego has been introduced, Vegeta clearly outmatches Turles, so he uses it as an opportunity for Cabba and co. to grow. Cabba takes out form 1 and Kefla handles form 2, but form 3 is too much for them, so Vegeta steps in with Ultra Ego, giving him some much-needed shine
Cooler still fights Frieza and shows us how the Fifth Form can potentially be differentiated from the Golden and Black forms, but mostly just serves as a way to elaborate on what Black can do before having Frieza fight Goku and Vegeta again
Janemba fights Buu, as I said before, but this time instead of serving as a jumping-off point for Uub, he actually serves as a way for Buu and Mr. Satan to work off each other; Janemba is a very tricky opponent, and Buu isn't particularly intelligent, but Mr. Satan is surprisingly smart and a competent martial artist (for a non-ki using human), so Mr. Satan could be helping Buu to read Janemba's fighting style and give him an edge, proving that Mr. Satan isn't the burden to the rest of the cast that he thinks he is
Baby would serve as a culmination of all of the Saiyan's arcs specifically, with all of the special forms and abilities found by Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Pan and Broly being put on full display against their natural enemy
The Shadow Dragons would serve a similar function, but for the cast as a whole.
Syn/Omega would probably be similar to his original incarnation, with Goku and Vegeta working together and ultimately being defeated by Goku using a Universal Spirit Bomb, but all of the other Dragons would be fought by the rest of the cast.
Haze, as the weakest, would probably be reserved for the human cast - Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, etc. His energy-draining abilities would definitely be a challenge for them, and would require that they be more inventive in how they beat him than other characters likely would be
Eis was created by a wish involving Buu, so I'd enjoy seeing Buu and Uub team up against him, possibly leading to the creation of Majuub
Nuova, along the same lines, was created by King Piccolo's wish, so putting him against Piccolo and Gohan would work really well
Rage, being electrical in nature, could be a fun enemy for the Androids
Oceanus doesn't really have an obvious thematic enemy, but since the fight against her originally was the only one to actually introduce new characters (Colm and his village), using them as a connection to Pan would be a good way to give her more involvement in the arc
Naturon, as one of the eviler Dragons, would be a good enemy for Goten and Trunks to fight since they fancy themselves heroes. His possession ability could also be used to force them to fight each other
Other characters, like villains introduced in Dragon Ball Heroes, could also be canonized and used as a way to show off the newly gained powers, but the ultimate villain would almost definitely be Frieza since he keeps getting stronger and stronger and we've already seen him forced to team up with Goku. I'm sure new characters will continue to be introduced too, like Moro and the Heeters, and none of this even considered how Granolah might contribute to the plot going forward, but my main goal here was to focus on classic characters. I do like Granolah, though, so I hope they find reasons to bring him back somewhere in there too. Maybe he'll be involved in the Baby arc since the Tuffles and Cerealians are both victims of the Saiyans, so there may be good reason to reintroduce him in that arc
I'm willing to bet that basically none of this will happen, and that Toriyama will want to focus more on the new and will continue not to worry about the extended cast, but in my world, Dragon Ball utilizes its existing cast as much as humanly possible
If I'm only right about one of these, I honestly hope it's Cooler

Just saw Dragon Ball Super: Superhero movie!
Here are my thoughts!
Tumblr media
Warning: SPOILERS
Android 21 is officially canon!!!
Magenta fucking bullshitting the whole idea of Bulma having an evil organization and plotting an alien invasion is hilarious 😂
The throwback/reanimated scene of future Trunks vs Freiza and King Cold! The nostalgia!
CELL!!!!
Piccolo training Pan!! 🥰
PICCOLO HAS A HOUSE!!! FINALLY!! TFS IS GONNA LOVE THIS!
Anyone noticed that Piccolo’s chair he sat in is very similar to King Piccolo’s throne in Dragon Ball?
I love how Piccolo holds his phone, also LOL Piccolo has a phone!!
Piccolo being another grandpa for Pan is so sweet
Piccolo calling out Gohan for neglecting his daughter. I guess the Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because Goku’s parenting is starting to rub off on his own son
I like how the red ribbon army tries to paint off Goku, Vegeta, and Buu as the villains to convince Dr Hedo to build them androids brought a chuckle out of me
Loved the fight between Piccolo and Gamma 2
Piccolo pointing out Gamma 2’s background affects popping up behind him!! 🤣🤣
Smart idea of Bulma constantly gathering the Dragon Balls to prevent anyone from using them for evil deeds
But also very pity that Bulma is basically using the Dragon Balls for cosmetic surgery. It was a good call back to the Broly movie when Bulma wanted to use the Dragon Balls to make herself look 5 years younger. Is it because her saiyan husband ages slower than her?
Piccolo and Dende!! I love that Dende and others refer to Piccolo as “Kami”
Piccolo’s new powers and forms!! So badass!!
BROLY!!!! 😍😍
So Broly and his friends are now living on Beerus’ world to hide from Frieza. Smart choice! I hope they are safe!
Goku, Vegeta, and Broly training on Beerus’ world!! The last 3 Saiyans!! I LOVE IT!
Vegeta meditating! I love that he’s trying to focus more on his mental strength than his physical strength, he learned a lot from observing Jiren during the tournament of power. He’s definitely have come a long way in his training and even his character growth
BEERUS X CHEELAI????!!?!
Lima becoming Beerus’ personal chef is so cute.
GOKU VS VEGETA TRAINING TIME!! LETS GOOOOOO!!!!
Honestly I like how this is the reason for why Goku and Vegeta are not in this movie or the fights. I’m glad they didn’t show up into the fight because if they did I’m pretty sure the fight would’ve been over sooner. This is a Piccolo and Gohan movie, as much as I love them, we don’t need Goku and Vegeta.
Can I just say how much I absolutely love Gamma 1 and 2? I love G2’s upbeat want to be superhero persona and I love how G1 completes him by being more serious.
Piccolo “kidnapping” Pan for the Red Ribbon Army so he can get Gohan back into his training and encourage him into his old ways as a fighter. I also love how Pan was playing along and having fun with it.
I absolutely love Piccolo and Pan’s dynamic. It’s so sweet and adorable.
DADDY GOHAN READY TO KICK SOME ASS AND SAVE HIS DAUGHTER!!
I love the fight between Gohan and Gamma 1! Very well done!
Gohan basically being blind without his glasses when he’s not a Super Saiyan was a funny running gag.
Piccolo trying to reason with Gamma 2, He knows that they’re lost and are trying to show them who they are truly working for
ORANGE PICCOLO!!! 😂 Why not Super Namekian?
Bulma bringing in Trunks, Goten, 18, and Krillin into the fight!
Bulma: I brought all our strongest warriors! Oh, and Krillin too
Me: EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!
Krillin actually having to remind Piccolo that he can grow huge and Piccolo being like “oh yeah I forgot I can do that“ 🤣
CELL MAX!!!
18 was definitely getting some ptsd when she saw Cell Max
Gamma 2’s sacrifice 😭
Goten forgetting how to do the fusion dance! 😂
Did they seriously just tease us of getting teen Gotanks?? We did get him but as his chubby self. At least it was still useful in battle 👍
GOHAN!!!! HIS NEW SAIYAN FORM!!! BADASS GOHAN IS BACK BABY!!!
PAN CAN FLY!!! 🥹💞
I love that we got to see Piccolo and Gohan’s father-son dynamic again
Very kind of Bulma to offer Dr Hedo and Gamma 1 a job at Capsule Corp, maybe we’ll see them again in future Dragon Ball projects
The after credit scene was definitely a surprise I didn’t expect but I really enjoyed it!
Goku and Vegeta have been fighting the entire freaking movie and are exhausted but are still going!
Broly and Lima in awe over Goku and Vegeta‘s battle 😂
VEGETA FINALLY BEAT GOKU IN A FIGHT! THE PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS DESERVES THIS WIN!!! 👑❤️

What would happen if Goku arrived on Earth quickly after Yamcha was killed by a Cyberman and killed the others? What if he along with his son, Gohan, Tien, Chaotzu, Krillin and Piccolo then took on Vegeta and Nappa together? And what if they beat those two Saiyans...or couldn't be able to in another case like this?
This has been in my ask box, lost amongst some spammy stuff. Sorry for the delay but...
If Goku has arrived shortly after Yamcha's death, Nappa would have been a non-issue. He would have handled it like he did in the show. The only difference is that maybe Vegeta would have intervened earlier, but knowing him he would have still sat back to watch, confident that they couldn't touch him.
Vegeta would have lost the ensuing battle, though I imagine it would start off much the same- Goku would have wanted to take him on one on one to start. Once Vegeta went Oozaru, though, all bets would have been off. Piccolo would have been all over that, and between the lot of them I'm sure Vegeta would have lost his tail before he crushed Goku's ribs. Tien and Krillin would have been in on the action, with Gohan and Chiaotzu running support.
Vegeta might have been able to kill some of the humans in his way down in this scenario, but it would end up being a humbling experience for them.
The upshot being that as long as Piccolo, Krillin, and Chiaotzu survive, there's no reason to go to Namek, which means Vegeta and Frieza will be battling it out for the Namekian dragon balls. Frieza wins that fight, and should he decide to visit Earth, now probably immortal, he would find the Z Fighters utterly unprepared for him. Rest in pieces, everyone.

Good DBZ fights are like...
Goku vs Frieza: Goku is at a clear power disadvantage and has to use every tool at his disposal to try to even harm Frieza. He succeeds and fails and eventually pulls off a super dramatic Large Spirit Bomb and manages to actually enrage the villain. Really good, really fun. SS Goku vs Frieza pales in comparison just because the series set up "Super Saiyans" as being terrifying enough that Frieza believes he'd lose to one so the drama sorta fades away.
Imperfect Cell vs Piccolo: A brief fight in a town Cell just destroyed, with Piccolo letting Cell kill a man begging for his life just to get more info on the opponent. Cell reveals who he is and what he's capable of and through Piccolo we see he's a threat. The Android Saga changes from here, with Vegeta in particular excited to square off with Perfect Cell. Real showstopper confrontation.
Imperfect Cell and Semiperfect Cell vs Trunks and Vegeta (including Vegeta and Cell vs Androids 17 and 18): The father-son dynamic rules these fights, with the conflicting motivations of all the characters perfectly congealing into a really brutal sequence. The personalities of Cell, Trunks, and Vegeta are on full display, and we once again see Saiyan pride go before the fall. We'll also see this turn on Perfect Cell later--so we get an echo of this sequence later. Perfect Cell knocking out Vegeta in a blink of an eye is a nice bonus.
Gohan, Krillin, and Vegeta vs The Ginyu Force: Through all of Namek we've followed and supported the weakest two fighters vying for the Dragon Balls and now they have an uneasy alliance with their former competitor (hell, they agree to make Vegeta immortal as their only hope of beating Frieza) and they are STILL the underdogs. And they manage to hold off long enough for Goku to show up. The Recoome fight really stands out here.
Gotenks vs Super Buu: This is all anxiety. You know Gotenks can win. You know he can win easily. But will he? Will he actually get over his own arrogance long enough to stop showing off the coolest moves in the series against an increasingly exasperated killer?
Vegito vs Super Buu: Usually I prefer underdog fights but it's so cathartic to see the strongest version of Buu just get annihilated by the fused Saiyan pair. The fact that he lets himself get absorbed so he can rescue everyone Buu ate while weakening Buu makes it all the cooler.
Goku, Vegeta, Hercule, and Mr Buu vs Kid Buu: We know Kid Buu is the weakest Buu but his endless energy and sole drive to fight and kill (plus his continued childishness) make him feel far more threatening than any other Buu. Between their desire to protect the weaker fighters, increasing exhaustion, NEED to stop Buu, and inability to finish him, Vegeta and Goku's increasing desperation, pleas to the people of Earth for help, and, simply, Hercule make this a really splid fight.
You can tell I like underdog fights and split-attention fights. DBZ is really bad at underdog fights usually because it's fairly established that strong defeats weak, and technique rarely saves you. As such it has to make its characters love fighting too much to want the fighting to end (or something similar) until it needs to. That works MAYBE up until Perfect Cell but Gohan should have known better, and I don't care what the transformation has to say about it.
So like, Ultra Instinct is cool but it doesn't really sell well in a series where typically if you're bigger you're better imo. Baby is way more effective as an antagonist before he becomes Baby Vegeta; every Shenron is more interesting than Omega Shenron; Buu works because his motivations are completely bizarre; Cell stops being interesting beyond his fighting abilities once he becomes Perfect Cell and doesn't have a motivation.
Underdog fights rule because they force the heroes to think outside the box and play to their strengths. Goku almost beats Frieza because Frieza never trained and was so always so strong he never really learned How To Fight. Goku's experience makes up for the power difference. The Android Saga works because people who aren't strong enough to stop the world's deadliest roadtrip aren't strong enough to do it but they keep trying.
It's more interesting when you're not certain that someone will get a new transformation or fusion and win at the end. It's more interesting when Super Buu absorbs Gohan almost in a panic and still loses.

OH BOY PART 2 Alright, Lemme take it from the top!
Earth Centric AU is a DBZ AU where Raditz doesn't come to earth in search of Goku... for about 6 years. In the mean time, the Z-Fighters have no idea about space, saiyans, namekians, or Galactic Threats. They have to deal with troubles on their own end, like Piccolo perfecting the Makankosapo and killing Goku with it, sending 6 year old Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma on a search for the Dragon Balls in order to revive Goku, Pilaf getting his wish of World Domination and not being great at it, and Dr. Gero taking advantage of Royal Funding to create an Android Army.
As for Piccolo and Frieza specifically? Lemme explain more underneath the Read More! And also heres a lil doodle for u of Android Frieza <3
Tumblr media
Piccolo remains the Z-Fighters main threat in this AU (For now) and is able to kill Goku one day. Gohan exhibits his Saiyan Rage power, preventing Piccolo from kidnapping him and heavily damaging him. Over the course of the next year while they wait for the Dragon Balls to become active again, the two clash every so often, and Gohan begins training with Kami on the lookout.
Piccolo, as you can suspect, isn't exactly raving with excitement over what he's done. He feels Good that Goku is dead, but that shred of good inside of him feels guilty for having killed the man who let him live. And Kami can sense it inside of him too, and encourages Gohan to try and appeal to that sense of honor and kindness that exists within Piccolo. Things eventually come to a head, with Gohan and Piccolo having an incredible battle over the last Dragon Ball, and it coming to basically a stalemate. Goku is revived and ready to fight with these techniques he learned from King Kai, but Gohan asks him to not hurt Piccolo, and Piccolo flies away begrudingly and doesn't attack them again. Gohan was able to appeal to his Humanity (for lack of a better word) and, while he isn't quite their Ally yet, he doesn't want to kill Goku or Gohan, or rule the world anymore. Piccolo has had a taste of something else, and has turned his back on that old life.
WOW that was long! Time for Frieza!
Honestly Frieza doesn't have too much to do in this AU! But has some Very fun changes <3
Frieza hasn't had much going on until the Z-Fighters are heading to Namek in order to use their Dragon Balls after Piccolo is killed by Cell... Well, Cell V.1. Ask about him later <3 They are accompanied by Raditz, who along with the other Saiyans are beginning a plan to rebel against Frieza. They don't plan on taking them to Namek at first, but they accidentally let it spill over Scouter Comms to Frieza that Namek has Wish Granting balls. So it's a race to gather them. From there, the Namek Saga is largely the same on Friezas part, other than his defeat at the hands of Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta all together, all in Super Saiyan mode. he is blasted into one of Nameks Suns, and is later picked up by King Cold. They do the whole Mecha Frieza thing, but as they approach earth they are... Contacted by a certain Android Doctor.
Dr. Gero leaves on Friezas ship (With Android 16 and a Larval Cell V.2 in tow) and begins upgrading Friezas Mechanics to his own standard, and an Energy Absorption Model to boot. Frieza begins sapping the life out of his own soldiers and crew, and things get real fucking Creepy up in space for a while, as Gero realizes just how sadistic Frieza is. He is able to alter Android 16s programming to make Frieza another of his targets, and as a back up plan begins to change Cell V.2s perfection to be obtained by absorbing the Android Frieza. The attack on Earth begins, and Frieza is Ridiculously strong now (OH also it's Krillin and Lazulis wedding day (she and lapis are not androids here <3 smile)) He and the Z-Fighters fight, and Gero tries to activate the bomb he put into Frieza at the right moment to take out both him And Goku, but King Cold stops him and prepares to Kill Gero before 16 is activated and blasts away Cold and a good fourth of the entire ship.
He joins the battle, fighting both Goku and Frieza, and eventually Frieza is killed by his own technique and sent 2 Hell. Theres more to this story, but Friezas is over. For good! Due to his frankly completely creepy and terrifying actions at the end of his life of absorbing his soldiers life force, and King Cold letting it happen, in the future his own peons resurrect a Certain Older Brother of his <3 so Resurrection C!
THAT WAS REAL LONG Thanks so much for reading all that if you did!

i think u should talk about khoresht . squinky dinky little man
you are going to regret this opening the flood gates <3
[preeminent tw for anyone bothered by trans pregnancy]
um so. where do i start. khoresht is a squinky dinky little man from a stupid au that runs in the back of my head where (transmasc!)yamcha is a single dad <3
premise is. dragon gang gets a little Too into celebrations of goku beating piccolo & becoming the world martial arts master. as in. one too many drinks in his honor And because they live to drink another day. being tipsy makes yamcha and tien a little handsy with each other. you can guess what happens next. few weeks later, yamcha realizes he’s with child and bulma reluctantly extends her help, partly at her parents’ insistence (and the pair end up putting aside their faulty relationship to just be besties instead). enter the fight of desire to be a dad at some point vs feeling still too young— until kho’s born and yamcha’s instantly in love; that’s his little buddy. his little boy. his bubby.
other shit/facts that’s more deserving of bullets than paragraphs:
— kho definitely got the more sweet parts of his fathers; he’s very passive and tender (basically what chichi wants for gohan: a scholar, rather than a fighter). also. has yamcha’s face, built like tien
— khoresh(t) is farsi for stew <3 he’s a little soup boy chompa chompa <3
— speaking of food. inherited jiaozi & shumai as favorite foods and the first time tien is made aware of this he is. So Soft
— and speaking of tien. basic premise of that whole sitch is yamcha doesn’t tell him about kho because. he doesn’t want to burden tien. but tien, chiaotzu, AND krillin become Aware of kho when he gets mentioned before they all train with kami to fight the saiyans. more ambiguous info is offered at king kai’s, but tien doesn’t actually meet his little guy until the trio is wished back with the namekian dragon balls
idk what else to mention without digging through discord messages or talking about a plotline in this that i’m still on the fence about

MasakoX’s What If Chi-Chi Was a Z-Fighter My thoughts and changes
Since MasakoX has uploaded the full What If Chichi video. I wanted to share my thoughts. I doubt anyone is going to read this, but I feel like this series had a well spring of missed opportunities, but rushed itself and totally overlooked them. Chichi was treated like the main character instead of a supporting character and I feel like that was where a lot of flaws of the story stems from.
21st Torunament and RR Saga: I don’t really mind Goku having Chichi as a traveling buddy. They got good chemistry and their fight could prove how she could be helpful to the audience so it’s set well enough. (I don’t remember the details well enough here though)
Foruneteller Baba I honestly LOVE the idea of pairing these 2 up together. It fits really well with both of their characters. Even in the main story, they get along unusually well. I could totally see the need for a Magic Based fighter and someone from Roshi’s family to humble him and others would be another brand of unexplored zany comedy. Honestly, this might be my favorite aspect of this story’s premise.
22nd Tournament There was no need for Chichi to beat Jackie Chun to please Baba. Chichi just giving Roshi a run for his money would've been enough of a gag within the fight to be interesting and a chance to display her newfound skills while still offering the opportunity to be humbled from that lost. It fits just as well as her losing to Tien, but the difference is that Tien shouldn't have been able to go through his profound change toward the light without that fight against Roshi. Masako didn’t provide an alternative path for Tien’s character.
Would he still join the light side purely from his fight with Goku. If so would this make him less noble and more instinctual of a character like Goku?If so, would this possibly help him become pure enough to regain his Third Eye’s true powers? Or would he dig his heels into the Dark Side and kill Goku with the Tri-Beam for Tao? Would this be the start of an anti-hero Tien storyline?
This way Chichi losing would hype up Jackie Chun vs Tien even more and Tien's character arc is left relatively untouched since MasakoX obviously didn’t want to explore it.
King Piccolo
Tambourine having Goku be the first victim of King Piccolo's return, but having Kami reward him for the destruction of the RR Army by hooking him up with 3 generations of Masters to train him is brilliant, but a total unchecked Checkov gun because it didn't make a difference. (At least let Goku learn learn the Thunder Fry Attack from Roshi and build off of it based off his relationship with Chichi and her fire.)
Chichi and Krillin boosts from the Ultra Divine Water didn't need to be nearly as impressive as Goku's original power up stemming from his Saiyan genetics. They still could've been potent enough to take on King Piccolo, but with that set up, when backed into a corner. Chichi could've used her Arcane Magic and brought Goku back to life, either out of desperation when her back was against the wall and her mind drifting toward her beloved or by a telepathic communication from Baba/Other World. And even if Goku wasn't strong enough on his own at this point, his presence could tip the scale of battle toward their side. I don’t think people would mind the main character getting the finishing blow in, but even if that didn’t happen. He needed to matter in some capacity for the What If to stay true to Dragon Ball establishing Goku as the hero, one of MasakoX’s own rules he broke from his how to make DB What If video.
23rd Tournament.
I am not even upset that Goku lost to Chichi in the fight if they had the same training, and this was their rematch from the first tournament. There is some narrative weight and build up here. As long as it’s followed through properly with their characters like Chichi saw and did everything she set out to do and now wants to raise a child, but Goku has more to prove to himself and would continue afterwards.
I am all for Chichi's maternal side having an influence on both Kami and Piccolo, furthering both on their character arcs earlier on, her understanding of complex matters while still having that maternal heart actually makes a good combo to Goku’s simplicity but. Why was Piccolo so much more human and rational in this tournament? He was basically a ball of evil at that point and shouldn't have been that easily molded by Chichi. It should've been a greater challenge to get through to him, like a Naruto fight to find that emotional core.
Time Skip
It feels wrong that Goku NEVER wins a single tournament and cements himself as Earth's champion before the space adventure starts. If the grounds were never destroyed and Goku still wasn't the champion, he would keep at it until he finally won fair and square.
Even if he didn’t want to dive too deep into it MasakoX could've had a 24th Tournament happen here where Goku wins properly offscreen
You could even explore Piccolo’s new character a little more here if he is somewhat actively involved in the Son family’s lives. This would take place in the transitionary period and cement him as part of the family.
Even introduce fanfavorite Hercule early on here.-We could straight up have Gohan and Videl meet early through the tournaments that their Fathers frequent and be childhood friends like the Hercule What If and see how that effects Gohan through life. Literally cherry pick stuff from the Hercule What If.
Saiyan Saga I honestly got no complaints here. With Chichi's presence, the story naturally becomes far more family-centric from the get go. Raditz cowardly running from a fight is very much in-character and leads into another popular What If scenario of successfully kidnapping Gohan and the boy being influenced by the Saiyans. Chichi getting the afterlife training this time around is only fair since Goku did it last time, but i would've touched on her being able to go wherever she pleased or just already being familiar with places thanks to Baba’s tutelage having already introducing her to the Other World and how it works at some point. Plus, Baba pops in and out so often, it would just be a mundane trip for her to take Chichi with.
Giving Piccolo Kaioken through Chichi rather than King Kai is perfect though since he actually respects the one who defeated him. Also Chichi using Spirit Bomb fits like a glove with her style and pure heart.
The part where the the gang groups up and heads to space on a rescue mission for the Saiyan saga is very original.
Gohan still siding with Vegeta at the end as a runaway child is a fantastic hook. This could've led to a very interesting Namek Saga as we could see Vegeta bossing Gohan around to do things he would hate and showing how evil he actually is to Gohan, but also revealing just HOW powerful a tool his anger and rage could be starting him off on a slippery slope. This would forever taint Gohan’s perception of him, and also add a new layer to Gohan’s and Vegeta’s relationship as Gohan is caught between his Saiyan half and his human half. Vegeta almost acting like an evil mentor character to Gohan throughout the duration of the series that every now and then has a golden nugget that helps Gohan. I am almost imagining a rougher Vlad and Danny Phantom nemesis type relationship, but thanks to his parents good example, is able to fight off Vegeta’s ifluence
Namek Saga Honestly, I barely remember what happened here because it was only given like a single part when this needed MUCH more room to breathe.
MasakoX touched on how Gohan thinking Vegeta was only doing bad things because the Frieza Force were meanies making him and how cool he is for rebelling against them. Seeing Gohan getting tricked, but coming to understand Vegeta's true nature in the Namekian Village should've been a spotlighted moment, not something mentioned happened offscreened because this should've flipped Gohan's world view on it's head.
Honestly, with no one dying to the Saiyans, King Kai would've never tipped the Z-Warriors off about Frieza, they wouldn't have trained like their lives depended on it on the way there, and should've been in over their heads touching down on Namek like Krillin, Gohan and Bulma were, unprepared but not as badly unprepared.
While I love the idea of Chichi getting a SSJ level buff due to losing Gohan, but the major problem here is. MasakoX never set this transformation up or properly explained what it was. It looks cool, but we don't even have a name to go with it let alone the rules for this possible transformation/technique. It’s even worse than SSJ Rage in this regard because at least we eventually get a name from other sources.
This also ignored the problem that Goku didn’t get his time in space to get a handle on the SSJ’s powers and how it affects himself. We heard no repercussions for this at all. I’ll go into this later, but this could’ve been such an interesting arc for Goku and Chichi. 2 mourning parents with unknown powers that they don’t how/if they control them. By the way, a way it could've had been set up would have the Frieza Saga be a point where Chichi overtaxed her magic with fighting, healing, and reviving until she pushed her limits further than she believed possible.
Piccolo fusing with Nail was very unnatural and contrived. I mean, it's not much better, but Chichi likely would've thought to ask more questions to Guru than Krillin does in the original. About other means to help take on Frieza, coming to learn of the Namekian fusion as a major defense they can't utilize due to most of the inhabitants having been slaughtered.
Here Chichi as a supporting character could further the themes of the Frieza Saga. That of getting justice/revenge for Planets Vegeta and Namek.
---Chichi could've pushed her magic to revive some dead characters for reinforcements, we never were given a cap that limits the amount of souls Baba or her could bring over to the land of the living, but lets say she can't bring a whole army. Saiyan characters she could potentially revive Nappa, Bardock, his crew, Gine, and King Vegeta himself, some of which can make artificial moons and get a group of Great Apes on the scene. Imagine Bardock killing Dodoria and Zarbon?
----She could hop to Other World gather a bunch of Namekians, have them fuse into a champion, and bring him back. And let's say we lean into the forbidden act of Fusion as a disgraceful/distateful thing or whatever. Chichi could always be a little amoral like Baba, okay so rather than stomp on the memory of the good people of Namek that have fallen by turning them into Fusion Material. We could just grab a strong low life Namekian that no one cares about for Piccolo to possibly fuse with, and they revive the Super Namekian Lord Slug who fuses with either Nail or  Piccolo or both. Which could easily backfire into getting a super strong Galactic level King Piccolo story that acts as a follow up.
-Frieza would've blown up Namek if things escalated that fast for him. He would've at least fully transformed in the story, even if he had to go off planet to do it. In fact, he probably should have to survive.
Time Skip I admit I would've liked to have seen a space opera happen here where the story doesn't stop at Namek
Imagine the Z-Warriors getting split up in the vastness of space, not knowing who lived and who died or at least got stranded on lets say Yardrat? Could've had a whole space opera involving other planets and groups we know from the franchise like the Galactic Patrol or the Heeters, even Granolah or GT content.
The enemy is still Frieza who survives Namek or Cold interchangably, heck we could even throw in Cooler to really even the odds against Chichi and Goku.
This time skip would be a great opportunity to wrap up loose end since MasakoX flushed Frieza out to the good guys early on when their potentials got unlocked
I like how Yamcha and Tien were here on Namek and possibly got their potentials unlocked, but it wasn't focused on, like at all. Well this could be where they get some spotlight.
This allowing almost all of the named Frieza goons alive for future stories, --like Zarbon and Dodoria who knows most of Bardock's story could relay this to Goku's family. I am sure Chichi would be interested investigating that one since it relates to family. ---The Ginyu Force. -----And most importantly, RADITZ IS STILL ALIVE! Come on MasakoX. Raditz is literally one of your favorite What If characters to write for and you forgot about him in a family centered story! Shame on you.--------
I think he should've kept the whole wishing Nappa back thing Vegeta mentioned, even if it was Gohan's childishness at play. Like even Vegeta should still get his friend back. It could've opened the door to an alternate Good Nappa story. And best of all, you have the 3 evil Saiyans post Namek with the universe as their oyster.
(If you followed through with the reviving an evil Namek for fusion material point. You could set up a plot point of Piccolo becoming evil again from fusing with Lord Slug out of desperation because he was too much like his Dad and our Piccolo didn't establish enough of an identity of his own just yet before getting taken over. Especially with the Yardrat training having that Fission ability that can split Namekians up being a plotpoint rather than a cool trivia piece. And if Piccolo truly is a member of the Son family now, they would have to get him back.)
This being an arc where Goku and Chichi can master their newfound power ups and get Gohan back on track like you intended? Guys like Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha and Chiaotzu could be the ones who really master the Yardrat training while the Son Family would call it quits early and head home when satisfied
Cell Saga
It was so clever turning off Cell’s magic. I love MasakoX’s reasoning that this is Cell rebelling against his Scientist Father who couldn’t get the magic out of the DNA. So him growing overly reliant on it due to his vanity and ego setting him up for failure was perfect.
My problem is with the execution. Once again, Chichi acts like the main character and sucks the fun out of the arc.
Straight up, Chichi's tactic should've been a major contribution, not the linchpin that gives the arc such an anti-climatic end where the good guys break the rules and just blast Cell away.
Seeing Gohan getting his moment here with a SSJ/Raging Bull hybrid would've been the culmination for all that was set up before. It didn't even have to be SSJ2 this time! It could've been like a golden minotaur thing.
Vegeta is still evil and never got better. He actually became more pathetic spouting that he was going to have a rivalry of the ages with Chichi of all people and then pouting that he didn’t get his way. Sure he is a manipulative scumbag that tricked Chichi into powering him up, but he is so egotistical. He wouldn’t care about her anymore after he got what he wanted from her. He’d gloat if anything. Besides his focus would still be on Saiyans rather than magic.
And if he REALLY wanted that rivalry. He would twist Chichi’s arm one way or another and force her to, like this isn’t a request, you are obligated to do what I want you to do. Until Chichi and or someone else forces him to back off. I would LOVE it if that was Gohan though.
Future Goten didn't even get to do anything besides train with Gohan which didn’t lead to anything! Their relationship could've saved the day. Imagine if Future Goten dying by Cell's hand triggered Gohan's fight/transformation? Or exploring the changes this causes with how Goten will fit into the family dynamic within the future? Like will Chichi spend more quality time with him so when he learns magic he’ll grow to love it more than his Future Counterpart?
In fact, if Chichi isn’t just a Z-Fighter, but also practically the main character within this story. There is no way she would just break like MasakoX descibed. This isn’t a human drama series, this a gag-centric, shounen fantasy manga. Chichi wouldn’t break, she didn’t even break in the offical timeline where Goku, Gohan, and everyone else dies. She would likely fight and die as a martyr alongside the others or attempt to abandon Earth with what’s left of her family for Other World.
I mean, death for her literally wouldn’t have much meaning because she can revive people for a day and visit Otherworld whenever she wants like Baba. She might not be able to revive Goku, but she can always bring the androids and the gang to Goku and they make their final stand there in Other World. Even if they can’t beat the androids themselves. At least they are away from Earth and Other World fighters could easily take care of them.
If we say that isn’t an option. Goku and other dead characters could still be apart of their lives. So it takes the sting out of death for their family.
Heck, that applies to main time. If Goku still sacrificed his life like the original series and claims that it isn’t right or natural for him as a dead person to be with the living. Then Chichi can just have the kids grow up with Goku in their lives by visiting Grand Kai’s planet like Baba tends to do. We could have Other World characters become more involved with the series this way.
Buu Saga Chichi once again halting an arc in it's tracks ruins the story rather than exploring the possibilities. There are lots of opportunities for the seeds planted could bear fruit.in a magic based saga
- We can see how this Gohan adjusts to high school and his peers, if he even becomes the Great Saiyaman at all.
Truth be told I am not upset that Chichi retired because her goal from the start was to marry Goku and be a Mom where she only steps up when her family is endanger. That is okay, but I feel like this series should have continued with the seeds she left, like the differences her sons had when influenced with Magic
MasakoX saying that the magic was fueled by rage and Gohan's potential could better be harnessed with it so the Magic training acts a tool to manage it as he gets older, so it would be interesting to see how Gohan's personality reflects this newfound control in his temperament.
Gohan can still act as a hybrid of humans and Saiyans like the original. And how this Gohan differs from the Future Gohan and the main Gohan since he isn't exactly a pacifist in this world nor is he a brutish Saiyan like Vegeta. We have plenty of opportunities to see how the Magic can be used by him, like imagine if Gohan undid Dabura's majin seal and either
 A) put a Fire Mountain emblem to control Dabura to help them, but possibly incurring Dabura's wrath and the can of worms that opens up.
 B) just released him and Dabura could either become an ally in stopping both Babidi and Buu. A tentative ally with a debt to the Dragon Team, but a possible future enemy that would take notice of Gohan's potential and act accordingly.
Dabura living with a debt or a bone to pick with the Dragon Team opens the door for the magic inclined Demons from Dragon Ball Heroes to enter the main story whenever you see fit.
As for Goten being a much more naturally gifted Martial Artist than Gohan and uninterested in Magic due to just being having a different nature actually could connect him with Goku even more. Fighting likely would still be treated as a game, but Goten is the most talented in his family and it would probably be cultivated much better here with this version of Chichi being the way that she is. Goten probably would be like Goku's protege following him around on adventures during Super like Gohan followed Goku in Z.
How does Vegeta remaining evil effects Kid Trunks and Bulma's characters? It would be interesting if you bring in Jaco and the Galactic Patrol and this Kid Trunks grows to admire them more than his deadbeat Dad who constantly gives him the cold shoulder. Lacking any real male role models in his life besides maybe those in the Son family. Giving Trunks reasons to go on space related adventures, but the family drama itself still helping Vegeta's path toward redemption is worth looking into.
Like imagine Vegeta having to swallow his pride after realizing how badly he treated Bulma and Trunks, having to turn to Chichi for help. And to his surprise, she sternly aids him in this endeavor for Bulma’s and Trunks’ sake.
Does he still go down the Majin route? And is he as fixated on Goku in this like the original? If so, that would be refreshing since MasakoX barely glossed over the familiar material, but there are plenty of new targets for his wrath to focus on. From Chichi to Gohan, to even Jaco.
You literally could’ve fit the entire Babidi Turned Good What If here using Magic Chichi as Piccolo’s initial substitute before Piccolo relieving her of this menial task.

Something many DB fans don't realize is that the Earthling fighters went into a depression during the Cell Saga (some PTSD too). Not just because of Goku's death, but also because they felt powerless.
Tien in particular complained about being powerless. Tien using his Ki-Koho against Cell was him trying to prove to himself that he was useful & it nearly cost him his life if Goku didn't save him. Then he was helpless again against the Cell Jrs. He said he wouldn't see the others again because he was depressed. (He probably has some level of PTSD but not to the level that Krillin or Yamcha has.)
As for Yamcha, his near death then seeing Goku struggle to survive the heart virus, and be helpless against the Cell Jrs. (not to mention his ex had a child with a man who was currently an enemy) all made him depressed. And he has PTSD on top of it. This is why he just wants to live a relaxed life and gave up fighting during the 7 yrs of peace.
Krillin saw Yamcha nearly die, saw SSJ Goku almost get killed by the Androids as well as suffer from the heart virus, saw 2 Super Saiyans and his frineds all get easily defeated and left in critical condition by more androids, had the fate of a victim of Gero and the entire world in his hands & he tried to save both but Vegeta worked with Cell so he felt like he doomed everyone, was powerless against Cell and powerless against the Cell Jrs., and had to watch his best friend/brother die again then comfort Goku's son. He was depressed but fortunately for him, Android 18 was attracted to him & his kindness resulted in the two getting married & having a family. So his depression was lessened a bit. But his PTSD remained. Despite gave up fighting to be a family man during the 7 yrs of peace, Krillin still went with Goku to help against Babidi. (PTSD & depression got worse in the Buu Saga after he faced near death from Dabura then sacrificed his life to buy time for his family and friends. Some added depression from not being able to save his wife and child from Buu.)
Heck, even Roshi was depressed. He felt more helpless than anyone since he was once the strongest under the heavens. But now he was as useful in a life or death fight just a bit more than the likes of Mr. Satan
And Chaozu stayed out of that entire battle. Like Roshi, he realized he couldn't help. And Tien didn't want Chaozu to die again nor did Chaozu himself.
And because there was no threat for 7 years, the Earthling fighters went into retirement. Can you call yourself a warrior when there is no war? This is why Krillin "retired" & formed a family with 18. But, when the world was in danger again, Krillin went along with Goku to face the enemy. And when he felt it might be too dangerous for him, he tried leaving like his concerned wife told him to do because he needed to be around for his family.
Tumblr media
Krillin's depression and PTSD was further shown in DBS as he worked on overcoming these issues.
We didn't see much from Tien besides that he created his own school to train others to defend themselves and protect others. Chaozu is right alongside him.
As for Yamcha, he still had PTSD which is why he didn't fight when Freeza came back. But over time, he started getting back to a positive place in his life and wanted to join Team Universe 7 (but in a rather poor comedic way, he waited to be asked to join but Freeza was chosen instead).
Roshi didn't have the trauma like Krillin & Yamcha do. (I mean he had his trauma from when King Piccolo took over the world hundreds of years ago, but he's had hundreds of years to overcome his PTSD of that without it hindering him much.) But he still had fear becauae of the huge power gap against enemies like Golden Freeza was even greated than what the gap was for the 3 strongest Earthlings. Overcoming depression and PTSD were not something for his character in the Buu Saga nor DBS. His issue was comedy based; a lack of focus when fighting due to having a dirty mind.

Dragon Ball Super 105
Tumblr media
Master Roshi belongs in jail.
Tumblr media
So this is the first of a couple of Master Roshi episodes.  After Kale blew up the place, Gohan decided to abandon their original strategy of sticking together, and so they split up.  Roshi’s been using this time to scout the competition, watching them fight and figuring out who has what powers.  Like this little blue guy, Xiangca from U4,  who saves himself from elimination by shooting some sort of propellant out of his back.
Tumblr media
This this green lady, Caway, also of Universe 4, tries to brain him with a big energy hammer.
Tumblr media
When that doesn’t work, she tries a seduction routine.  From the bleachers, Krillin assures everyone that this is what Roshi trained for, and it’ll have no effect on him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
Tumblr media
Oh, right, the Elder Kai’s a big horndog too.  We can’t forget that.
Tumblr media
So Caway thinks she’s got him and tries to spear him, but Roshi stops her.  So I guess it was just a ruse.
Tumblr media
Roshi then explains why he would have fallen for her feminine wiles once before, but not this time.  He tells her about how he trained to ignore those foolish distractions, and now he’s become stronger.  I’m pretty sure the subs have him imply that he’s going to take out his pent-up sexual frustrations out on her, but at least the dub doesn’t go that way.
Tumblr media
I’m just saying that Caway throws her cloak over herself and jumps out of the ring in terror, and I don’t think it was because she was worried about getting beaten up.
Tumblr media
But, just like all the others who eliminated themselves out of fear or stupidity, Caway soon realizes the error of her ways.  There’s no safety on the bleachers. All she’s done is bring Universe 4 one step closer to oblivion.
Tumblr media
Another fighter steps out to confront Roshi, and he seems to have been aware of her presence the whole time.  This is Dercori, Caway’s teammate.  You’d think she would have saved Caway earlier, but I get the impression that the U4 team doesn’t think in those terms.  Dercori is an illusionist, using talismans made of her own energy to confuse and bewilder her opponents.
Tumblr media
She claims to be stronger in the shadows, and Roshi realizes that she plans to weed out the weaker fighters first and slowly work her way up to the rest.  She’s too subtle and tricky for the likes of Goku and the others, so it’s up to him to take her down.   Fortunately, he’s got just the thing.
Tumblr media
Get Mafuba’ed, idiot!  Once she’s in the bottle, Roshi caps it and tosses it over the side.  Two up, two down.
Tumblr media
Quitela cries foul because Roshi used a bottle to execute the technique.  Beerus says it’s fine because it’s an accessory, not a weapon.
Tumblr media
But the Zenos quickly rule that it’s legal, because it was “fun”.  There’s a definitive “rule of cool” with this tournament, and that works for me.
Tumblr media
Next up is Ganos, another U4 guy who wants revenge for his eliminated teammates.  He angrily transforms....
Tumblr media
... Into this buff bird guy.  Well, okay.
Tumblr media
Roshi holds his own, despite being at a disadvantage in power and speed.  But his vast experience can only get him so far, and when Ganos does hit him, he makes it count.
Tumblr media
This is enough to make Goku and Krillin worried, but Goku’s got his hands full with another opponent, and Krillin’s not allowed back in the ring.
Tumblr media
He hears their pleas for him to stay down, but he refuses.  As Roshi puts it, it was because of Goku and Krillin constantly pushing past their limits that he found the inspiration to keep pushing his own abilities further and further.  So he isn’t about to stop now.
Tumblr media
So instead, he puts everything he’s got into one last Kamehameha and goes for broke.
Tumblr media
And it works!  Ganos falls out of the ring and gets eliminated.
Tumblr media
But Roshi passes out, and Krillin and Goku panic.  Shin has to hold Krillin back...
Tumblr media
... While Goku powers up to Super Saiyan Blue to break away from his dance partner.
Tumblr media
He teleports to Roshi and starts doing that thing Piccolo did to Gohan after Frieza almost killed him in Res F.  And it works, Roshi survives.
Tumblr media
I’m kind of torn on this episode.  On the one hand, it was worth showing how useful Roshi was for the team, since it’s not exactly obvious to anyone who saw him in action against King Piccolo or Tien back in the day.  Sure, Roshi knows a lot of tricks, but the only U7 guy who needed to worry about Caway was Roshi himself.  And Goku learned the Mafuba himself, so I’m not so sure Dercori would have posed that much of a problem.  As for Ganos, Roshi’s reason for taking him on was that he feared Ganos would only get stronger and stronger as the tournament progressed, so he needed to take him out early before that happened.  Okay, but Goku’s literally allowing Caulifla and Kale to get stronger, so I’m not sure it matters?
My point is that Master Roshi is only solving problems that his own presence created.  I guess you can argue that he’s still a better choice for the team than Yamcha or Majin Buu, but I’m not convinced.
Also, while it’s touching to see how emotional Goku gets over Roshi nearly dying, it kind of feels awkward after seeing Goku be so cavalier towards his own family.  Goku made his own sons watch Hit kill him, and he didn’t seem to care about that at all.  But Roshi collapses and he’s in tears?  But that’s really an Episode 72 problem, not an Episode 105 problem.
Say that Dercori lady was pretty spooky, huh?  In fact, all of those Universe 4 guys are pretty scary.  You might say that they’re.... Creatures of the Night!

My firts history
This is my first fic from this couple Goku and Chichi and I hope you like it, it was inspired by a beautiful fanart of the wonderful Gokuist or Fungushi
And that story would not be published if it weren't for a great sonchichisquad friend! Thank you beautiful❤
Farewell
That’s why he didn't like saying goodbye. If there was ever a time when Son Goku didn't say goodbye to his loved ones, he had his reasons:
Firstly, he simply hated being the cause of the overflowing emotion in his family and friends’ eyes, and even in his own. That would mean admitting his weaknesses and his pride would never allow it. And secondly, If he didn't say goodbye to his family and friends, it was simply because somehow he felt he’d come back and see them again.
There wasn’t really a particular moment of Goku saying goodbye to the people he loved -not emotionally, at least that we know of.
One example is when he left on Nimbus when he was a child -he left, just like that, to seek new adventures. A few years later, he left again -this time with Chi-Chi by his side to start their lives together. He also fled the hospital after his brutal battle against Vegeta to get to Namek and help Gohan and the rest. He didn’t say a proper goodbye to anyone, not even his own wife - it was more like a "See you soon!" Or "See you around!”, but never a final greeting. The same happened when he stayed in Yardrat, when he decided to stay in the afterlife after the battle against Cell and even when he left to train Uub.
It had always been like that. However, even if he had never been really attached to anyone, now, after having reached a certain level of maturity, Goku was trying to assimilate the fact that he had bid everyone his final farewell.
It was harsh. He wasn’t allowed to speak to his children and friends. All he could do was watch them from above as they went on with their happy lives. But maybe it was for the best.
Gohan looked very focused as he wrote who knows what in a notebook. The last rays of sunlight were streaming through his large window as he sat peacefully inside his home office. The curtains swung as if the wind was blowing through them, but it was actually Goku. He was watching his son with a twinkle in his eye. Gohan was so smart and kind. He had always been proud of him.
Goku then saw Videl and Pan entering the room and interacting with his son.
"Hey honey, why don't you take a break? You’ve been on that report for two hours" Videl said from behind her husband, placing her hands affectionately on his shoulders.
"Yeah Dad, let's go have a picnic in the garden, it’s such a beautiful day outside!" Pan added excitedly, leaning over the desk, closer to her father.
Goku smiled as he watched them. The family he had built was close and loving, no matter how many obstacles they had to overcome. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "Goodbye son"
Gohan would always be in good hands. And then, he disappeared.
"You’re right, it's time to relax with my two favorite people in the world and-" Gohan silenced himself as the feeling of something familiar rushed through him. He couldn’t explain what it was. It was like a warm comforting breeze that he only felt when "When my father was around ..." he completed his own thought out loud.
His wife and daughter had no idea what he was talking about. He simply shook his head and followed the two of them so that they could spend time together as a family, unaware that he would never feel his father's energy again.
***
Goku laughed in amusement when he saw Goten and Trunks, such two great boys, training together in the garden of Capsule Corporation. Vegeta was watching them from a distance and next to him was Bulma sitting by a table with Bra.
For some reason unbeknownst to her, Bulma was holding the dragon's radar today, thinking back to the day when she met one of her best friends. She smiled wistfully. If it weren't for Goku, she probably wouldn't be where she was today.
"What the-" Vegeta whispered, suddenly uncrossing his arms, and at that very moment Goten received a mighty punch from Trunks. Goku's youngest son froze in his tracks, sitting down on the floor as if he hadn’t felt the punch at all.
"I’ll always be thinking of you guys, especially you... my son" Goku smiled as he looked at them. Everyone there had touched his life in a monumental way.  If it weren't for Bulma, he wouldn't even know what a girl is, and she was the one who opened the initial gate into a world of discoveries.
Goten certainly made him a happier man than he already was. Becoming a father the second time was incredible, and felt just as amazing as the first time. His youngest was the living depiction of a sun rising after a storm, and he now knew that his children represented a more perfect version of him, a human version that embraced his sayajin side with tenderness.
The only thing that Vegeta had taught him was to discover and accept who he was. An alien, or to be more specific, a saiyan. It took Goku a long time to accept his roots, but seeing how much Vegeta had changed since he arrived on Earth, he could now recall the exact moment when he accepted "Kakarotto" into his life.
And with that last thought in his mind, he disappeared. And the grass started to sway from side to side, a light breeze making it dance. The people in the garden of Capsule Corporation's were left very surprised as a warm and soft sensation swam through them.
After he recovered, Goten got up and stood into his fighting stance with a very familiar and challenging smile. "It won't be that easy to beat me, Trunks! Now hurry up! Come at me!"
Trunks smiled at his best friend. "Oh, that's what you think!"
And both continued with their training.
Vegeta watched the boys with an arrogant smile on his lips, folding his arms across his chest again. Bulma was stunned and looked thoughtful, and her daughter didn’t understand what was going on.
***
Goku watched from the glass window into Krillin’s house. The bald man was going through a photo album with his daughter. She had grown up so much.
Eighteen was drinking a cup of coffee, sitting in the armchair next to her daughter and husband, watching them lovingly.
"Yeah, Goku was different from any other person or being that I had ever come across in the universe. If Master Roshi were alive, he’d probably agree with me. He had a way of bringing us closer together. We went from enemies to friends and we are what we are today thanks to him. Together for life"
Goku felt really touched by this, smiling at them affectionately. Krillin had always been a very important person in his life. His first and closest friend. The most faithful of all.
"Krillin..."
And then he left.
Krillin had no idea what that emotion inside him was. Happiness? Nostalgia? Maybe. All he knew was that it wasn’t something he felt all the time. It was nice and warm. "Goku, you are my best friend"
***
Son Goku flew across the Earth, passing through all the places that were part of his journey.
Kami-Sama Dende, sharper than ever, felt his fleeting presence like a shooting star, along with Mr Popo, who placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Son Goku will always be remembered for his incredible life on Earth and his great deeds, isn't that right, Mr. Popo?" And his guardian and master simply nodded. When facts are spoken, there are no valid arguments.
Uub, who was meditating, felt Goku too, and he thanked his master mentally for everything he had taught him.
Yamcha and Tenshinhan, who were on the fighters' planet, sensed Goku's presence and nodded to each other, and so did Chiaotzu and Puar.
Piccolo just looked up with his arms crossed and smiled. "Goku..."
The Sayajin warrior flew across the Earth, enjoying every field, every ocean, every light breeze caressing his face. He enjoyed this last lap to the fullest.
There was only one person missing, who was no longer on Earth…
Yes, after all, he wasn’t able to find Chi-Chi. She was already gone. He felt terrible. His wife was part of him and he really wanted to see her just one more time. He didn’t know how to find her soul among many others in Paradise. It was just a light in its true form. It was too late.
***
After reflecting on his thoughts and making one last memory on Earth, Goku felt a touch on his shoulder. He turned around. "Son Goku, are you ready?"
He sighed. He wasn't sure yet. He felt as if something was missing. He couldn’t leave permanently like any being in this universe yet.
After completing his last training and duties in the dragon realm, which was creating the dragon balls again, he would have to leave. His time was up, it was running out and this time it was for good. Son Goku would rest in peace.
They were on Planet Kaioshin. The wind picked up and made the petals and flowers of the trees fall, as if it were autumn time.
"I don't know, Mr. Kaioshin..." Goku replied, lowering his eyes to nothing in particular on the planet's greenish floor.
"Now boy, you’ve already said goodbye to everyone before returning to the dragon kingdom that time, and this is the agreement: The dragon balls will return to Earth and you will leave. It is the law of the universe, child. You made that choice and now you will have to deal with the consequences” Old Kaioshin continued, along with Kibito and young Shin.
Goku frowned at that. Yes, he was perfectly aware of that. He felt it was time, and the Earth deserved the wonderful reign of the dragon balls again.
But he had to find her first, find some way to talk to her and say goodbye. Because this time he would leave forever. Chi-Chi deserved at least a goodbye, she really did this time, and he had something stuck in his throat, something he really needed to say to her.
Goku looked him in the eye. "But I didn't say goodbye to everyone. I missed someone, and you’ll have to help me with this" he said firmly, his hair waving in the wind caused by the beings with him.
"That someone has already died, I know. The dragon balls no longer have resuscitation powers, but there has to be another way... I can't leave without talking to her" there was despair in the saiyan’s eyes.
There was a maddening silence -as if everyone there was thinking of a solution for the warrior. After all, Goku deserved one last request, it was the least they could do after everything he’d done.
"I think I know hos..." Kaioshin replied. "Shenlong may no longer have the power to resurrect but he does have the power of time"
Shin and Kibito were confused by the old man's statement, but didn’t doubt his words. After all, he was still their most experienced and wisest deity.
"Power of time...?". Goku wondered for a few seconds.
Until realization dawned on him and his eyes widened, sparkling with joy.
"That's it! So I just need to go over there and-"
"But bear this in mind, Goku" Kaioshin interrupted him by raising a hand in front of him. "As soon as you’re done, your body will disappear and your soul will finally be at peace"
Goku nodded calmly. "Okay, well, I think it's goodbye this time, isn't it?"
The kaios in front of him bowed in gratitude, looking at him with admiration. "Goodbye Son Goku." said the youngest of them.
And then Goku teleported to Earth, after so long. At an impressive speed he brought the seven dragon balls together again. It was incredible that his life would end with them. He didn't need a radar to find them, he just knew where they were.
The dragon balls began to shine together.
"Show yourself, Shenlong, and grant my wish!"
The sky darkened, the golden light coming from of the spheres causing the Dragon to be reborn again. Goku couldn't help the nostalgic memories that were going through his mind while his eyes reflected Shenlong's light.
"State your wish and I will fulfill it according to my possibilities!"
"I wish to go back to Chi-Chi’s happiest time in her life... my wife."
The dragon stood still for a minute, making Goku tense up, his fists clenching.
"Your wish will be granted. You will have five minutes! Goodbye!" And so Shenlong's eyes shone red and a golden light surrounded Goku and took him from his current time.
After a trip through nothing but white and gold lights, he opened his eyes and sighed in surprise.
Goku was in an incredibly large garden, so beautiful that it looked like Paradise itself. He looked around and noticed several people in the place. They were laughing, talking, drinking and eating. He heard birds singing from several directions. It was a party, apparently.
Goku turned around and was faced with a lake and a nearby apple tree. He put his hand on the tree... this place looked familiar. He approached the water, which was shining like crystals, and the ground was covered by many flowers. Rose petals were falling as the breeze claimed them. Their smell was also familiar when he took one in his hand.
When he looked at his hand, he noticed that his outfit was actually different from the one he was wearing before. He kept looking at himself until an epiphany hit him: he was wearing a white tuxedo, with that itchy bow tie.
"So the happiest time in her life is-"
"Goku!"
Goku heard that young and smooth voice calling out to him, his eyes instantly looking in her direction. It was Chi-Chi, his wife. Of course, the happiest time in her life was their wedding. He smiled at that. He would’ve sworen it was when Gohan had graduated from college or anything related to his children.
How wrong he had been.
She was beautiful. Today, he had a better grasp at these things of course, but back then… ah, if only he had known. He would’ve been able to appreciate her beauty for much longer.
Her face, her flushed cheeks, her long lashes, her black and shiny eyes, her delicate pink lips and her ivory-white skin. Her strands of hair swayed gently in the wind.
"Goku?...". She softly called him again as she approached him. "What are you doing out here alone? I’ve been looking for you."
Goku blinked a few times, coming out of his daze. "Chi-Chi… H-hi.". The moment he saw her in front of him, he felt nervous, like a hesitant teenager.
Chi-Chi smiled at him humorously and gave a light laugh. It was one of the most beautiful sounds he’d ever heard.
"Okay, come with me, there’s a table full of sweets especially set up for my husband. I’m sure you don’t wanna miss it" Chi-Chi wrapped her arms around him, starting to lead him, but Goku stopped.
"No, wait a minute" he stopped her, taking her hand and coming closer to her. "I need to tell you something. It 's important."
Goku stared at her with such depth in his eyes, she couldn’t decipher it. "Goku ... are you okay?". She asked worriedly when she noticed that he looked a little serious and tense, placing a hand on his cheek lovingly.
He stood still, enjoying the warm touch of her hand under the glove of her wedding dress. He closed his eyes and smiled softly, caressing her hand on his face. Oh, how he’d missed this -he hadn’t known just how much until now. It’d been so long for him.
Surrounding her with his arms, Goku took a deep breath and swept away any hesitation, bringing back his confidence when he smiled at her and looked into her eyes lovingly, "Come here". And he brought her close to him. Of course that would startle her a little. After all, at the time a simple touch was enough to make him panic, but he was running out of time. "Chi-Chi, I just wanted to let you know that today was... I mean-". He corrected himself. "It is a very important day for me... and no matter what happens from now on, I’ll always be thinking about you"
He felt her still in his arms. That was not the reaction he was aiming for, but he hated this kind of goodbyes the most in the entire universe. However, it was too late and he had to continue.
The orange flower petals from Chi-Chi's bouquet whirled in the breeze behind Goku's neck, enveloping them both, as if nature wanted to keep that moment only for them.
Chi-Chi wasn’t following Goku at all.Of course they’d been harboring a very strong admiration for each other during the months before the wedding, and she hoped that could develop into something stronger after the wedding when they’d have to live together.
But this… it was beyond her wildest dreams, it felt like an illusion. He was looking at her and talking to her as if he’d known her for an entire lifetime.
There had to be something wrong with him, it could only be that. There was no other explanation.
What did that mean? Is he leaving? Is he going to die? Is he going to give up on her?
Those thoughts were running through her mind now, haunting her.
"Goku... I don't understand. Why are you talking like that? You're scaring me..."
Her eyes began to waver as she looked into his, her voice was low and soft, as if she were about to cry. She was afraid, not of him, but of what his actions and words could mean.
It was a mystery how she would manage to read him so well since that day, since the beginning of their lives together.
Goku rested his forehead on hers with his eyes closed, and brushed his nose against hers, as if wanting to capture the aroma of flowers flowing from his wife.
"Don’t worry” he whispered when he opened his eyes to look at her. "It's okay, trust me."
Chi-Chi looked stunned and frightened at the same time, if that was even possible, and started to doubt him again. "No, it's not okay and if there's something wrong I can-"
The touch of his lips on hers silenced her instantly. She relaxed, closed her eyes and enjoyed that moment. Her body went limp against him completely. Even if he’d been desperate to do that, it was also the only way he could think of to show her that everything was fine.
The kiss was delicate, soft and warm. No lust or despair there, just the purest possible and most loving of feelings.
When Goku leaned back a little, he gave his wife in his arms a small smile. They could feel each other's warm breaths fanning their faces.
"I just wanted to say... that I love you. I will always love you, forever, no matter what. You have changed my life in a way that I can’t even fathom right now. Just believe me" He whispered.
Chi-Chi was red-faced, surprised, stunned, scared, in love ...
All at once, and she couldn’t take it.
Soon, tears were streaming from her eyes, but she smiled at him when she felt her feet back on the floor as he released her, his arms still around her and hers still around his neck.
She really loved those words, so sweet and unusual, certainly unusual, but they flew out of Goku’s mouth so abruptly that it was astonishing to her. He seemed different from her usual Goku, and that worried her.
But why destroy this exciting mood with questions? That statement could be a good thing, so why doubt your husband? She will never doubt the words coming from someone she loves so much, and even more now.
She laughed weakly at her husband, "Son Goku, what happened to you...", she swallowed, teary eyes looking at him when he gave a weak laugh. "I love you too, silly, and I will never give up on how I feel about you."
Goku knew this very well, and she never gave up on their relationship, no matter the flaws they had and the obstacles they had to endure. Somehow, their love for each other was always stronger than anything that could arise.
And he wanted her to know that he loved her and still loves her in a way that he could’ve never imagined and that... man, and what a spectacular life they built together. Their children, their granddaughter and their friends. All of it, he wanted her to know all of it, he wanted her to know how grateful he is grateful for all that love.
And that he will love her for eternity.
Now Son Goku can rest in peace.
Chi-Chi hugged him tightly with her arms around his neck. She understood. She simply did.
He buried his head in the back of her neck and hugged her tightly too, absorbing every bit of he could from her essence.
Chi-Chi moved back and they stared into each other’s eyes.
"Hey Chi-Chi! Look at the amazing shoes I got you as your wedding gift!" a family friend called out, interrupting the connection the couple had established with their eyes.
“Are you coming?” Chi-Chi asked, looking at him while wiping her tears.
Goku smiled and nodded. "Go ahead, I'll be right there."
And so his wife shook her head and slowly moved away from him. When there was enough distance, he felt his body crumble, becoming transparent until nothing was left.
He noticed that a little over five minutes had passed...
"Thank you dragon balls". And those were the last words of one of the greatest warriors the world has ever known. Turning into nothing more and nothing less than bright points of light spreading like fireflies between the petals of flowers in the air, dancing in the autumn breeze.
Rest in peace, Son Goku!
The bravest and kindest fighter who ever lived.
The End
