Just thinking about how heartbroken Reyna must have truly been when Jason came back to Camp Jupiter and barely remembered her.
Because she met Percy, she does know that even when Juno takes your memories away, if you truly truly love and care and need another person you will be able to remember her, even if not entirely perfectly, but the memory will be there with you the whole way. Like the memory of Annabeth was with Percy.
And then Reyna sees Jason arrive with Piper, and it's okay really, it doesn't even hurt that much, she's Praetor, she has got a job to do, she cannot be getting distracted with silly little sentimental things like that.
And, okay, sure, Reyna can say, maybe Jason and her weren't that close in that sense, it's okay, but they were still good friends, co-leaders of a grand city, he still mattered a lot to her.
And same thing right, Percy did remember Nico, not that vividly or anything, but he did immediately know Nico and him knew each other from somewhere before, because The Ambassador was important to him, in a different way but still, important to Percy.
And then, Jason tells her that he didn't remember her at all, no name, no blurry face, no dreams, no voice, no vague sense that he was missing somebody from somewhere.
That he only started sorta remembering her days after he had already finished his quest, for his new patron goddess, and his new friends, at his new camp, in his new life, with his new girlfriend.
But it's fine, really, Reyna is mature, she doesn't let little things bring her down. She's roman, truly roman, daughter of a fully only Roman Goddess. She's Praetor, she's strong, she will welcome these strange Greek people into her city and throw a feast in their honour, she won't even be salty or rude about it. Really, Reyna is fine, it doesn't even hurt.

please talk about your thoughts on luna maximoff
So, I'm gonna guess you're talking about the tag I put at the end of that one meta post? If not, let me know ;)
So, we all know that Crystal was unfaithful to Pietro for quite a bit of time (if not the whole time?) during their relationship. This includes her technically leaving Johnny Storm for Pietro, which.... Is not a great way to start a relationship. I honestly think this should have been Pietro's first clue, but that comes from a place of having experienced my mom getting cheated on by my dad.
So, Luna was born within a short-ish amount of time after their marriage (which was very, very shortly after they met). Now, I'm not sure about actual time scale as far as when Luna was born in relation to when Pietro and Crystal were married, but I think it would be safe to assume that it was within 7-9 months.
Now, if we assume that she was born within that amount of time, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to wonder if Luna was actually Johnny Storm 's biological child.
There are inconsistencies between Luna's supposedly mutant/inhuman lineage and what would make sense if Pietro was actually her father, starting with the "her inhuman and mutant genes combining negated both and made her a human". This makes. No sense. Not even a little bit. Of course, assuming that Pietro was her father, she would also be the first of that kind, which would give us no proper frame of reference for what to expect out of that kind of union. Now. You know what would make sense? Her being a human because her father was a human. A human like Johnny Storm.
Then there's the biological discrepancy of her being blonde. Being blonde is a recessive trait, and no other member of her family on either Crystal or Pietro's side has blonde hair (Lorna dyed her for a while but that doesn't count, and Pietro's doesn't either, since the white hair is part of his genetic mutation and has been white since he was born). Luna has very, very slim chances of being born with blonde hair unless one of her parents was also blonde.
I mean I'm not a geneticist, and I'm certainly not saying that even if Pietro wasn't her dad, that all of the time he spent loving and raising her meant nothing. I'm just saying that the theory holds water. And yes, it does hurt my heart to think about it.
So part of my headcanon for this is that eventually, Luna finds out (so does Pietro). It hurts her to find out that she was lied to for so long, and it hurts to know that her dad--the one who has loved and fawned over her and has tried so hard to be a good person so she could be proud of him--isn't actually her dad.... That her dad is someone she's only met in passing. Not that she can blame him, he didn't know... Right? Pietro hurts, too, but he loves his little girl far too much to just let her go like that... He makes sure to let her know that he won't ever stop loving her, and that if she wants to pursuit a relationship with her real father, that he will support that.

Max Goodwin and Helen Sharpe; The Couple Destined To Happen
Tumblr media
I am so excited to write this meta!!! This is the first time I’m writing a meta outside of the Game of Thrones fandom so I’m a little anxious but I really wanted to share my thoughts on these two.
Before I get into this meta if you couldn’t already tell by the title, I 1000% believe the show is setting up these two to be a couple. I know some of y’all are probably saying “BUT HE’S MARRIED!” and I totally understand this sentiment. As a former Scandal fanatic, I absolutely despised Olivia and Fitz relationship (I hated Fitz! ) and cheating storylines have never been my jam. I stopped watching well before the series finale.
I want to make one thing clear, New Amsterdam is not Scandal! They’re two completely different types of shows. New Amsterdam is a heartfelt emotional drama more in line with “This is Us” while Scandal was a show that thrived off of soap opera-ish storylines. So when Max and Helen do get together it will not be because of cheating! That’s not the type of story this show is trying to tell.
It’s going to be a natural progression of a relationship that was always the true endgame from the beginning. I’ll address my thoughts on how I think this will occur below but now that I have addressed Goodwin’s marriage, let’s dive into this meta.
The first time we see Max and Helen on screen sparks fly!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their chemistry is off the charts from the start with their witty banter and back and forth dialogue. This interaction clearly falls under the Meet Cute trope which can occur in a variety of circumstances. They don’t hate each other, but when they first interact they are clearly at odds while also seemingly each other’s equals. In every sense of the word, I believe Max is taken aback by Helen from the very first episode because he’s finally met his match. She’s just as no-nonsense as he is and can meet him toe to toe and he is clearly intrigued by her.
Another important point is this, Helen was the first female character that was introduced to the audience in relation to Max. This is a HUGE DEAL!! The short definition of the First Girl Wins tv trope is this,
“In romantic works, the first girl introduced — either overall or as a potential Love Interest — has a very good chance of ending up with the protagonist (especially if the protagonist is male).”
To further explain this trope here’s another quote from the article:
“From a Doylist point of view, the Law of Conservation of Detail suggests introducing the Love Interest early. An early introduction allows you to get the audience interested in her and rooting for her, gives you space for Character Development, and give her relationship with her (eventual) partner the most time to develop organically. And with all that said, it’s such a common device that in all likelihood, it sometimes gets played for its own sake. It telegraphs, “Lookie here, a serious contender for Love Interest.” From this perspective, it’s not so much that the First Girl wins because she comes first; rather, she comes first because she’s going to win.”
It wasn’t by accident that the show writers had us be introduced to Sharpe’s character first. The show is using a classic tv trope that has been used countless times in other shows to introduce the most likely endgame love interest.
Also, keep in mind that after we see this chemistry filled interaction between Goodwin and Sharpe, we are IMMEDIATELY introduced to Georgia. Here we learn that not only is Max married with a baby on the way but his marriage is in trouble!
Tumblr media
That’s not a good sign people! In TV that's never a good sign for a lasting relationship, especially when they show you a more dynamic potential relationship first. Georgia clearly falls under the Romantic False Lead trope. I’ll dive into this trope later.
Moving on, by the time episode one wraps up Goodwin and Sharpe’s relationship immediately shifts to something deeper as Sharpe is the only one who is aware that he has cancer. From there on their relationship is still this playful, back and forth struggle, but this time it’s about Goodwin’s care. In episode 3 things shift in their relationship where Goodwin finally asks Sharpe to help save his life.
Tumblr media
(I mean come on y'all look at how he looks at her!!) This is where they truly start to be vulnerable with each other and from this moment on they start to let each other in. Now here’s the thing. There is a level of openness that Max has had with Helen from the start. He always chooses vulnerability with her. He never seems to hold anything back and quite frankly sometimes over shares. It’s like he has a sense of ease when it comes to her.
Quick side note; that’s another thing that I love about their relationship. While Max is an optimistic, free-spirited, risk taker, Helen is realistic and matter of fact. Her choices are very guarded and safe and they literally balance each other out.
For Helen, it’s more difficult for her to open up because naturally she’s more guarded but she does. One major thing to take notice of is that Max wants Helen to open up and be vulnerable with him and that’s huge! He instantly notices when she’s upset and always pry even when she doesn’t want him too.
This is in clear contrast to his wife were one of Georgia’s biggest complaints was Max opening up and being present with her. She mentions this in the show but she also implies that this was an issue in their marriage long before the circumstances they face now.
That shouldn’t be the case if Georgia and Max are meant to be endgame. Which brings me back to the point that Georgia is Max’s Romantic False Lead. Now there are two types of romantic false leads. The villainous/jerk type that audiences despise or the boring vanilla ace type. Unfortunately, Georgia is in the boring category and the show is framing her that way.
The perfect example of this is when Max, Helen, and Georgia are in a room together. Almost always (and you can look back for yourself) the show has had Max and Helen engage in some sort of passionate conversation and it’s like Georgia fades into the background until she interjects herself! When they talk to each other they act like she’s not even there!
Again that’s not a good sign!!!!!!
I’ve talked about Georgia a lot but I should also mention Dr. Akash Penthaki. That’s Sharpe’s romantic false lead without a question and to me, the show literally gave us clues for what his role would be the moment he was introduced in this exchange:
Dr. Penthaki: You’re treating your boss?
Sharpe: Yes, but he’s also my friend.
Hello!
Tumblr media
If this isn’t the biggest sign of a future boyfriend being jealous of the relationship you have with your boss/patient, I don’t know what is! The show is setting up this dynamic without a doubt and this leads me to my next and final point which is how these two will actually get together.
Now honestly I don’t see them getting together until maybe season 3. It could be longer. This is definitely going to be one of those slow burns but these two will get together! For their romantic false leads here is what I think:
Sharpe is definitely going to date Dr. Penthaki but it’s not going to last. He will get frustrated about her relationship with Goodwin because more than likely she’s gonna put him before her relationship and he’s going to end up accusing her of being in love with him.
For Georgia, there’s a couple of scenarios. The first one is that I believe she’s going to die during childbirth. The show is giving me those vibes and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Sharpe is trying to have a baby and also at the same time building this heartfelt relationship with Goodwin.
I also think that their relationship could break down naturally. I genuinely believe that they probably won’t be together if it wasn’t because of the baby and his cancer.
I don’t think baby Luna is going to die. I don’t know, that would be way too sad but it could be a possibility, I just don’t think they’re going that route. I can easily see Max and Helen raising baby Luna together but I also see her having a baby on her own by him. The reason why I think this is again the framing of their scenes.
The very first episode Helen finds Max introducing his baby in the room Luna was previously in. Then we have scenes of where Helen shares her fertility struggles and talks about her hopes/fears of wanting to have a child. Are these scenes not foreshadowing of the future these two will have with each other? I mean think about it, Helen laments about her past hopes and dreams being dashed not knowing that her future is standing right in front of her!!!
I swear I’m going to do another meta on framing and visual cues the show is doing on these two but I’m going to end this meta here for now.
I can’t wait to see the rest of the episodes and how this relationship will continue to unfold.
*This is my third attempt at posting this meta so that it can end up in the tags. I deleted all of the links in this so that it can hopefully appear in the search results. If you want to find out more about the tropes I mention here DM me and I’ll send it to you!

Blog Summary Tag Game
Find your fandom kru and help them find you. Answer the following and include the tag #the100blog in your answer, then tag some of the blogs you follow.
Great idea, and thank you @osleyakomwonkru & @viviansternwood for tagging me - I read both of your summaries with interest!
1. What are your primary topics?
I got a tumblr blog during S5 of the 100 because I just needed to finally talk about the show with other people (been watching since S1 though), so The 100 and the characters of Raven & Murphy in particular are my primary subjects. I’d say they’re about 85% of my content, tossing in a few other shows I like (TUA, Twin Peaks, Buffy, Peaky Blinders, Altered Carbon, GOT, Marvel stuff...) and then also very progressive politics, some gardening stuff (I have a big garden) and posts I find funny.
I started writing Murven fanfic soon after S5 started as well, so I post updates about that and am always open to messages about my stories.
2. What tags should a visitor check?
I’m not the greatest at this considering I’m still a bit new, but I use a few tags frequently =  #murven, #murphy x raven, #the 100 spoilers, #my meta, character names, and then in the hiatus waiting for S6, I used #is it season 6 yet. Otherwise I mostly tag the name of the show or the ‘ship’ I’m posting about.
3. What do you love about The 100?
I love that it’s so gray! I’m on the “older” side of fandom (I have 2 young children), and I am involved in local politics where I live. I’m an empathetic person and the world we are living in today brings me a lot of grief. It sounds strange that I would choose a dystopian tv show watch in my downtime, but I have always loved sci-fi and the delve into the darker aspects of human nature, and this show speaks to me on quite a few levels, especially when I relate it to the world stage we face in our own timeline. The show is not perfect, and I am frequently angry about some issues, but overall, it’s done a wonderful job of creating characters with intriguing backgrounds and motivations, and I love dissecting the character choices and emotional struggles they go through. So much of our own lives feel like a battle these days, and while it may not be the physical struggle that the characters on The 100 face, I relate to the desire of wanting to do the right thing but often feeling like your efforts are for naught and your successes are very short-lived.
My favourite living characters are Raven, Murphy & Diyoza
My favorite dead characters are Sinclair & Luna (honorable mention to barrette dad!)
My favourite ships are Murven & Kabby, and I am rooting for some Niytavia this season. Throw Diyoza into anything and she’ll make that work too.
4. What do you hate/what frustrates you about The 100?
Like a lot of fans who really enjoy the characters in this show, I’m constantly frustrated over how frequently plot takes precedence over characterization. When things feel out of character, ignored, or only happening to help the plot along, I am taken out of the show because it doesn’t feel ‘right’ to me. But when things are flowing and it all makes sense and the characters are reacting like they are true to themselves - ahhh, now THAT is why I’m watching.
And I have seen others mention this, but when it comes to fandom, I am very surprised how many fans choose a favorite character but then decide that every other character is “bad/wrong/evil” if that character in any way is at odds with their favorite. Like they can’t acknowledge the faults of their own favorite, even though this entire show is built around the idea that everyone is morally gray...It’s baffling to me as a fan and I think is contributing to this idea that entertainment should either be “good” or “bad” with no middle ground, which is completely absurd. I’ve talked about it a lot with other fans, and I think the suggestion that fans relate to a character so much and then feel personally attacked if that character is going through something may be correct. But that also feels concerning because such a reactionary attitude when you don’t have all the facts (ie, the next episode may resolve the conflict, or the next scene may take it in another direction, or in fact, there are valid reasons for characters to be fighting/angry with each other but that doesn’t mean that EITHER of them are wrong for their feelings and/or that doesn’t mean that they won’t work through it eventually) - is concerning to me, especially in this political climate. It’s like the authoritarian worldview we’re seeing come out in politics around the world - people aren’t thinking critically (and no, that doesn’t mean just complaining) and people aren’t thinking big picture. I could say a lot more, honestly (what else is new!), but it absolutely meshes with purity culture, authoritarianism and what I see as a lack of empathy because people are so focused on themselves. Again, this comes from someone who may often have been a silent fan but has been present in a variety of fandoms for a long time, and certainly that shapes my own two cents.
My least favourite living characters - I don’t love every living character but I don’t hate any of them either. I get FRUSTRATED for sure though, and while I love Kane & Abby typically, I’m not liking their attitudes lately and really hope that clears up soon.
My NOTPs - I’m absolutely a “ship and let ship” fan, but I truly don’t get the idea of Clurphy. And since I’ve wanted Murven since 1x10 (yes, I know this is weird), I have never been a fan of mem0ri and didn’t like the rushed setup of z@ven that made no sense to me
5. Is this exclusively a The 100 blog?
No, but about 85%, if not more. And absolutely Raven x Murphy/Murven obsessed. If you like them too, well then, come sit by me and I’ll happily talk your ear off and let you do the same!
6. What else should people know?
I have a small circle of close friends in real life, and none of them watch the 100 (I don’t watch their shows either, LOL). So I am always super interested in chatting about it with other fans! I always reply via Ao3 comments, inbox asks and DMs, and in fact - let me give fair warning that once I get going, I just keep going and going. My metas are LONG and I will cite my sources! LOL! Please keep in mind that most of my time is spent with two young children so adult discourse is like catnip to me! Honestly, it’s love for the characters that motivates me and I just really like diving into them. I have made other fandom friends via random asks & comments, and I think that’s one of the great things about this show.
And I would also just like to say that overall I think the 100 fandom is really great, and a big shout out to all the Murven shippers who have welcomed me & eagerly accepted my stories!
Gonna tag some mutuals & please know if I missed you, you ARE included here and it is just that my memory is not perfect and nothing else! And only play if you want to, obviously!

2018 Fic Year in Review
Tagged by @gailbsanders -- thank you! <3
Total number of completed stories: 10
Total word count: 11 076
Fandoms written in: Sherlock Holmes (ACD), Raffles (E. W. Hornung)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? Yes.
What’s your own favorite story of the year?  I think I’ll say After Teatime on wet glass, because it started with a few raindrops on the window and ended up as something I hadn’t quite expected.
Did you take any writing risks this year?  I guess I’ve played around a bit with style this year. I have a few pieces that are heavy with symbolism and more of a manifestation of an idea than a, you know... story with a plot. It’s always difficult to know how it will be received, but it is the style I like the most so *shrug*. Also, every time I decide to finish-and-post instead of trying to make something perfect, it feels like a risk.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?  Keep writing? Not being so hard on myself? I’ve had some dips this year when my confidence was really low and I doubted myself and it felt like I wouldn’t want to write ever again, or couldn’t. I still feel that way, honestly. But I do actually want to write and improve, so I guess I want to try to change those feelings somehow. And also, I really want to finish Le Premier Tour and keep working on that universe.
Best story of the year?  Since “best” is very subjective, I’m just gonna list my other favourite short and symbolic pieces: Luna, The Last Snowfall, and “Rabby”.
Most popular story of the year?  Difficult question, but I think that A Silly Thing has gotten the most love. Which is funny since I did not think it was very good when I posted it, and even included a small meta levelled apology within the story, but I don’t think anyone’s noticed that x) I’m glad it hit home within the fandom, because making people happy always makes it worth it -- which is exactly what the story was about in the first place, so I guess now the circle is closed x)
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:  Uuhm, I don’t know? Luna have fewer kudos/comments than the rest on AO3, but on the other hand it was first posted on Tumblr and got some love there. Plus, I got a wonderful piece of art based on it. I don’t know, I feel like it’s been pretty equal during the year.
Most fun story to write: The first chapter of Le Premier Tour, definitely. It was something I had been wanting to do for a long time, and the setup is silly and I love Raffles and Bunny to death and I was so excited to put them in a world that I know, and explore the possibilities there.
Most unintentionally telling story:  Unintentionally I don’t know, but I very intentionally put my own frustrations from this fall into White Wings of Yuletide.
Biggest disappointment:  That I couldn’t finish Le Premier Tour. I really intended to keep working on it during the fall and post the two remaining chapters, but life and work got in the way and no matter how I tried, I just couldn’t. I still have every intention to finish it, and I so appreciate the comments on the first chapter and the notes and support from @brilliantorinsane, it means a lot ♥
Biggest surprise:  Well, that I have actually written and posted all that stuff? Maybe it doesn’t sound like much, but I still kinda wonder how it happened, since I mostly remember feeling inadequate and frustrated (but that’s probably due to these past few months).

Recent Reads - May 19, 2018
Multifandom--Dirk Gently, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, a bit of Star Trek--and a mix of old and new, as usual. I've already recced some of these fics individually, but life's too short not to be effusive about the things you love, so I'm including them here too <3  Recs under the cut...
The Answer to a Question - @a-candle-for-sherlock - 22k, T, Holmes/Watson
"These are the stories behind the story we know: what really happened to Watson's marriage, and what made him follow Holmes to Reichenbach; what secrets were hidden in the mountains, and what a dead man wrote to the man he left behind." This fic made me Feel Feelings and also made me (almost) late for work.
To Join These Men in Holy Matrimony - A_Candle_For_Sherlock - 10k, T, Holmes/Watson
"Sherlock Holmes is a contradiction, an enigma, a force; at once the most generous spirit and the most self-contained man I have ever known. I've known more of him, I think, than anyone on earth. Yet for years I'd learned nothing about his boyhood, nor his fears, nor his future hopes, nor his father’s name. I never felt it as a lack until I knew he loved me." A moving story about family, forgiveness, self-acceptance, and historical queer marriages.
The Narrator - candle_beck - 8k, M, Holmes/Watson
"Watson is a degenerate gambler, a reluctant romantic, and the least reliable narrator in the history of the written word." A brief, gritty glimpse of my favorite Victorian disasters.
where the falling angels meet the rising apes - @cosmicoceanfic - 26k, T, AU (crossover, Dirk Gently & Discworld)
"A story of Death and the boy who could see him, through the years." In my sadness over finally finishing the Tiffany Aching books, I allowed myself to indulge in Discworld/Dirk Gently fics, and this one was an especially satisfying blend of the two universes. Highlights include Dirk & Bart's friendship, and Farah having a stare-off with Death.
you could bring my healing - cosmicocean - 38k, T, Dirk/Todd, AU (fantasy)
"Where the whole thing takes place in a fantasy world that is not unlike but not quite mostly for legal reasons Ankh-Morpork, Dirk is generally an existential dragon, Todd is a washed up electrical lute player, everyone is kind of awkward and useless except maybe for Amanda, and there is a boatload of fantasy references, plus one (1) Star Wars one." Sheer escapist delight.
Start at the Beginning - @dont-offend-the-bees - 61k, T, Dirk/Todd (AU, fake relationship)
”Y’know, make it up. Pretend to be in a relationship with someone. Can’t be that hard to fake, right?” it was still a stupid idea, but Todd was actually pretty invested in it now. He leaned forward, folding his arms. “C’mon, think about it- you got any other desperate homeless friends?” Takes a wacky ensemble piece and transforms it into a different sort of wacky ensemble piece. Sparing use of fake dating tropes makes this fic all the more enjoyable.
Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder: A Lovely Sentiment, But Rarely Applies To Anniversary Gifts - DontOffendTheBees - 7k, M, Dirk/Todd
"In which Dirk and Todd celebrate three years together- but forgot they were supposed to be doing that." Featuring: Todd Brotzman's "funhouse of self-loathing," Dirk & Todd's mutual uselessness, Amanda & Farah's mutual exasperation, winks to Douglas Adams canon, and a clever meta twist.
How We Go Together - ekb112 - 3k, E, Kirk/Spock
"'Have you ever been in love, Spock?' A series of moments in Jim and Spock's relationship." I like a semi-annual spot of K/S. It's a classic ship for a reason, and this fic scratched the itch just right.
Easy As Breathing - electricteatime | @kieren-fucking-walker - 1k, G, Dirk/Todd
"Their days start together. Warm and close, but all elbows and knees, tangled in covers and noses buried into hair. It takes time to swim up through the pull of sleep to break the surface, but when they come to they wake up to each other." A lovely soft distillation of a relationship.
Dress You Up in My Love - electricteatime - 3k, T, Dirk/Todd
“'So, what? Your solution is a pair of skin tight leopard print pants? How is that better than anything I’ve worn?'
Dirk just grins wildly at him, it’s the most like himself he’s looked in days. 'Put them on.'” A fluffy missing scene fic with a wonderful sense of interiority. (How is electricteatime is so good at characterization?!?)
A Flame Undamped - Frayach, read by wench_fics - 5k, 40min, M, Harry/Draco
"A happy ending. Because I can finally imagine one." Hurt/comfort doesn't even BEGIN to cover this sequel to The Price We Pay for Wings. No one does pain and poignancy--and sometimes, healing--like Frayach.
Saturn in Retrograde - gooseflesh - WIP series, M, Dirk/Todd
"As with most things in Dirk Gently's life, things are fine until they're not. A mystery and minor inconvenience for Todd Brotzman takes a terrifying turn when Dirk insists on investigating, and it'll take more than a hunch for them to hold onto to all that they've built." I'm not typically an angst gremlin, but I can't stop reading this WIP, even as the characters' situation worsens exponentially.
Death by Kittenshark - howldax - 1k, G, Dirk/Todd
"'You know,' Dirk says sternly, 'if you murder me, there will be nobody around to feed you.'" Cats (even cats who are also sharks) are gonna cat. Charming and fluffy.
i was born in a summer storm (i live there still) - janeseyre - 10k, G, Farah & Todd & Dirk
"Farah confronts the vestiges of her past as she, Dirk, and Todd travel east to visit her mother. It turns out Farah isn’t as over her father’s death as she thought she was." A deeper look into Farah’s families, both biological and chosen; full of lovely little smile moments and Farah getting the closure she deserves.
The Burning Heart - @may-shepard - 119k, M, John/Sherlock, AU (post s3 fix-it)
"Although he’s certain he’ll never get over Sherlock, John plans to move on, and build a new life with Mark, unaware that Sherlock is not quite as dead as he appears, and that Mark is hiding secrets of his own." As is my habit with zeitgeist-y fics, I didn't get around to this one until well after the rest of the fandom, but I'm glad I did. Here's to an assassin plot that's actually plausible and compelling!
The Easiest Way - nntkiwff - WIP, T, Dirk/Todd, Farah/Todd (“basically OT3”)
"'Is that everything?'
'Yes, essentially,' Dirk says, as Todd is saying, 'I don't have magic powers.'"  A slow burn WIP, set immediately after the return from Wendimoor, featuring multiple perspectives (including Ken!), in-depth characterization, and some excellent lines, like this one about Farah: “She says all of this as though she is ashamed of being cursed, instead of proud that she blew up an evil warlock.”
Blood Magic and Rebirth (or, The One Where They Are All Feminist Academics) - @notcaycepollard - 1k, G, gen (Harry Potter)
"Moon cups, Luna thinks. Moon cups and blood magic. And she remembers the old itch under her skin, and a music box fluttering into a flock of birds, and wonders just how powerful it could be." This is 1000% headcanon for me now.
A Little Bit Scandalous - @oneprotagonistshort - 1k, E, Dirk/Todd
"Dirk Gently was self-aware enough to admit that he had… a thing. A quirk. One of those idiosyncratic little peculiarities that made up a tiny part of his personality. A kink. He just liked that extra edge; the need to be quiet or someone might hear, the blood pounding in his ears while he stayed hyper-alert for footsteps, the way Todd kissed him so urgently that he lost his breath." I especially appreciated the characterization behind the kink in this one.

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." One of the author's tags on this fic is "What if everyone just acted like a damn adult for a change?", which really clarifies how the fic differs from the later seasons of the show.
it's an institute you can't disparage - @shortcrust - 19k, T, Dirk/Todd
"Todd wakes up beside Dirk Gently four years to the day after having met him realises - abruptly and with categoric certainty - that he wants to do so every day for the rest of his life. What the fuck, he thinks."  Hilarious, insightful, and absolutely nails a) the ridiculousness and pathos of Todd Brotzman mired in needless self-doubt, and b) my favorite Ship Dynamic: compatible disasters.
there's cell reception on this widow's walk - strix_alba - 2k, T, Farah/Tina
"In which Tina sort-of-kind-of asks Farah to stay with her in Bergsberg, and Farah kind-of-sort-of wants to say yes." Awkward flirting, Farina styles! Tina mentally describes Dirk & Todd & Farah as a “bunch of hot, uptight weirdos,” which is p e r f e c t.
Just Like That - @sussexbound (SamanthaLenore) - 8k, E, John/Sherlock
"For the first time in what feels like years he WANTS." The perfect combination of unf and feeeels.

Wholesome Questionare Tag Meme
Tagged by @keytara
Rules are: -Post the rules -Answer the questions given to you by the tagger -Write eleven questions of your own -Tag eleven people
1. Favourite texture?
I really like fur. Not the ones that are on stuffed toys though. I don’t like things that are way way too soft. Except silk. Silk feels nice.
2. Favourite smell?
I like the smell of cinnamon and/or coffee. Too bad I can’t drink the latter anymore.
3. Favourite children’s book/children’s TV show? (I’m talking about the bizarre abstract ones for toddlers)
My memory sucks so my entire childhood is pretty much wiped away from memory, unless I try really hard to trigger it. I remember some shows/books, but don’t remember them as my favorite
4. Best and worst prank you’ve ever pulled?
My brother and I were picky eaters, so I once ate a really gross snack during family dinner to get him to eat it too. Once it was in, I immediately spat it out and saw him just die.
That’s as ‘intense’ as I go. I was a pretty obedient child because my dad scared me a lot.
5. Weirdest beginning of a friendship?
...Nothing went out of the ordinary for me when I was younger. And I’ve just started making an effort to make friends only now after 8 years ‘cause I keep attracting/settling for non-healthy, reckless or non-social people.
6. When you’ve been in fandom for a while you start to notice you’ve a habit of staying in the same corners. What corner are you in? Are you part of the fluffy ship corner? The intense world building spec meta corner? The shitpost comic fanart corner? Etc
Like in real life, I go around the corners of the room and don’t stay in one place for very long. I don’t really make much content and just look at the other people enjoying themselves, but I wanna try to do something now.
7. If you could invent a class that would be obligatory for all high schools across your country what would it be?
How to be an adult.
I’m 16 and very worried someone please help me
8. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve gotten at Halloween while trick or treating?
Mango flavored marshmallows and marshmallow teeth. That’s as far as everyone’s budget goes here.
9. Weirdest family tradition of yours?
We used to bake cookies every Christmas, but now we all have more things to worry about, especially since I’m going to College soon and my brother just moved out but comes back here because he doesn’t have enough to live there by himself.
10. Describe your significant other (or your crush, or your dream partner or if you’re aromantic your fave person) through only TV references.
“You know, I I could never figure out what love meant, but, right now, I don't need to figure out anything. I just feel it.”
-Bojack Horseman (I don’t know a lot of tv shows, so I’m just gonna use this one)
11 Favourite piece of dialogue in a movie?
“Negosyo o kalayaan? Bayan o sarili? Pumili ka!”
-Heneral Luna

okay so we’ve been talking about what might happen next ep (and who might die) and we’ve decided to type it up so we can say “called it!!!” or see how wrong we were and laugh (or not because we talk about death a lot)
this post discusses major character deaths so you’ve been warned - but then again you watch the 100 sooo
so the thing is, if luna loses that’s a major plothole bc it’s hardcore canon that she’s the best fighter. also, who is she fighting for in the first place? we think luna has to win bc she’s the only one who’ll offer up the bunker to everyone. here’s how it’ll go down though. we’ll see some extras get killed off, and then octavia will kill ilian and she’ll immediately have a breakdown of sorts. while she’s crying/screaming some other extra will attack octavia and bellamy will do the heroic thing we’ve been hearing about since forever to try to save her.
but he’ll fail. because “you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved.” so we think octavia might die. or she might fake her own death again, who knows.
and then luna will defeat roan, but because they can’t kill of zach and marie’s characters in the same scene, she’ll spare roan’s life. and roan won’t be able to trick her and fight because he’ll be too injured.
so luna will say whoever comes in peace may live in the bunker with them, solving this whole “one clan” problem.
bonus, if octavia does die, we might get yet another parallel moment for bellamy. he might start questioning what he is now that octavia is dead, “what is she?”/ “what am i?” the reason why we think octavia might die is (and this deserves a whole meta of its own but anyways) there’s been a lot of foreshadowing and mentions of death where her character’s concerned, like she literally faked her own death/came back - a direct parallel to her talk with ilian about reincarnation, she cut her way out of a shroud of some sort in one of the first episodes (again faking her death), she tried to kill herself.
her redemption arc is clearly not working out (”this is who i am” after killing three people) and as it was discussed in a meta from our early days in fandom (we think it was written by @head-and-heart, sorry if this is not you) people who can’t stop killing or move past it usually end up dead on the show. i remember this meta talked about bellamy, clarke, finn and octavia specifically and compared bellamy and finn, and speculated that octavia would follow in finn’s footsteps.
while we’d much rather not see any death at all, we think it’s likely that the conclave scene will go down like this. what are your thoughts on this?
just gonna tag some people who might be interested: @abazethe100 @bellamynochillblake @rosymamacita @bl-ake @bellamybb

New Amsterdam is a heartfelt emotional drama more in line with “This is Us” while Scandal was a show that thrived off of soap opera-ish story lines.
In every sense of the word I believe Max is taken aback by Helen from the very first episode because he’s finally met his match. She’s just as no nonsense as he is and can meet him toe to toe and he is clearly intrigued by her.
You can click on the link to read more but to further explain this trope here’s another quote from the article:
“From a Doylist point of view, the Law of Conservation of Detail suggests introducing the Love Interest early. An early introduction allows you to get the audience interested in her and rooting for her, gives you space for Character Development, and give her relationship with her (eventual) partner the most time to develop organically. And with all that said, it’s such a common device that in all likelihood, it sometimes gets played for its own sake. It telegraphs, “Lookie here, serious contender for Love Interest.” From this perspective, it’s not so much that the First Girl wins because she comes first; rather, she comes first because she’s going to win.”
It wasn’t by accident that the show writers had us be introduced to Sharpe’s character first. The show is using a classic tv trope that has been used countless of times in other shows to introduce the most likely endgame love interest.
Also keep in mind that after the we see this chemistry filled interaction between Goodwin and Sharpe, we are IMMEDIATELY introduced to Georgia. Here we learn that not only is Max married with a baby on the way but his marriage is in trouble!
That’s not a good sign people! In TV thats never a good sign for a lasting relationship, especially when they show you a more dynamic potential relationship first. Georgia clearly falls under the Romantic False Lead trope. I’ll dive into this trope more later.
Tumblr media
Moving on, by the time episode one wraps up Goodwin and Sharpe’s relationship immediately shifts to something deeper as Sharpe is the only one who is aware that he has cancer. From there on their relationship is still this playful, back and forth struggle, but this time it’s about Goodwin’s care. In episode 3 things shifts in their relationship where Goodwin finally asks Sharpe to help save his life.
Tumblr media
(I mean come on y’all look at how he looks at her!!) This is where they truly start to be vulnerable with each other and from this moment on they start to let each other in. Now here’s the thing. There is a level openness that Max has had with Helen from the start. He always chooses vulnerability with her. He never seems to hold anything back and quite frankly sometimes over shares. It’s like he has a sense of ease when it come to her.
Quick side note; that’s another thing that I love about their relationship. While Max is an optimistic, free spirited, risk taker, Helen is realistic and matter of fact. Her choices are very guarded and safe and they literally balance each other out.
For Helen it’s more difficult for her to open up because naturally she’s more guarded but she does. One major thing to take notice of is that Max wants Helen to open up and be vulnerable with him and that’s huge! He instantly notices when she’s upset and always prys even when she doesn’t want him too.
This is in clear contrast to his wife where one of Georgia’s biggest complaints was Max opening up and being present with her.
Unfortunately Georgia is in the boring category and the show is framing her that way.
The perfect example of this is when Max, Helen and Georgia are in a room together.
That’s Sharpe’s romantic false lead without a question and to me the show literally gave us clues for what his role would be the moment he was introduced in this exchange:
The show is giving me those vibes and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Sharpe is trying have a baby and also at the same time building this heartfelt relationship with Goodwin.
I also think that their relationship could break down naturally. I genuinely believe that they probably won’t be together if wasn’t because of the baby and his cancer.
I’m going tag some people who seemed interested in a Sharpwin meta. @grizzee11 @raejustrae @akarensilla and also this is me reposting this because for some reason my post wasn’t showing up in the tags!
