Has the calmest reaction of all the boys. Is quite happy to be having a child of his own. Pretty prepared for what's to come and generally remains calm throughout. Is noticeably more gentle when hugging you.

Majima Goro

His initial reaction: "I'm gonna have a kid?!". His reaction following that: "I'm gonna have a kid!! Hell yea!". Nervous as hell, maybe more so than you, but also just as excited. He's gonna go tell Saejima right away too.

Saejima Taiga

A mix between Kiryu and Majima's reactions. He's happy, frankly overjoyed, at the prospect of a family but he is worried. He hopes he can be a good father and a good partner to you in the process.

Akiyama Shun

Honestly, he's kind of like "Well... that was going to happen at some point". He's not against the idea of kids so don't take it personally if his reaction is kind of middling. It's honestly just something he expected to happen eventually with a long term partner. Takes it entirely in stride but is nervous deep down.

Tanimura Masayoshi

Surprised but isn't shell shocked. If anything, his reaction is to start getting serious about his work and finances. He'll start caring more about his health too and say stuff like "I gotta do better if I wanna be a good dad!". His dedication is admirable.

Ryuji Goda

Probably has the loudest reaction of all the boys. He is EXCITED. Ryuji doesn't seem like a family guy but the thought of having a little kid running around just gets him happy, he can't explain it. Maybe it's just because he loves you so much. Hope you're ready for an Omi celebration too.

Nishikiyama Akira

Openly nervous about it. He is excited by the prospect of having a family but he has a lot of worries as to whether or not he should. A lot of it has weird ties to his own childhood and Kazama. He'd never fault you for it as he knows this is something he has to deal with but you'll catch him mulling over it now and then.

Daigo Dojima

Overjoyed. There's no other word for it. Out of all the boys, Daigo is the one that's always actually wanted a family ever since he took over the Tojo Clan. Unlike Ryuji, he'd keep the celebrations private with you as he sees this time as deeply intimate for the both of you.

Mine Yoshitaka

Calm on the outside, panicking on the inside. Mine honestly never had expectations for romance let alone having a family but now that both are happening, it's one of the few times he's genuinely had no idea what to do. He'll compose himself pretty quickly though. Would help you design one fabulous nursery for the baby.

Tatsuo Shinada

Kind of freaking out about it. How's he going to support a family? How does one even have a family? How are babies made? The man's brain is emptying as we speak. Once the shock subsides, he's happy though. Shinada thinks babies are adorable, even if he has no idea how to change a diaper or anything.

Ichiban Kasuga

Similar reaction to Ryuji. He's kind of like "Hell yea, I'm going to be a dad!". Doesn't know what he's doing but also doesn't care. He's just excited to be on this journey with you. He'll be the most doting partner during your pregnancy.

Tianyou Zhao

Despite his laid back attitude, he reacts super sweetly to the news. He'll just hug you and smile. Words couldn't really express how he feels. Would cook you anything you crave during your pregnancy.

Joon-Gi Han

You'd think he might react badly but he's actually kind of relieved to hear he'll have a proper family. He's been on his own for so long that the idea of familial bliss felt like a fantasy. Out of all the boys, he'll be the first to start suggesting baby names.

Technically they reproduce asexually - though I've always been of the opinion that they can either bud children or like...they get a blessing from the goddess and boom - a rock child. For the sake of our fanfiction scenario, let's slide into the headcanon that Gorons can feasibly mate with Hylians, shall we? I'm also gonna set this just maybe like a few years post-ToTK.

You were snapped out of your dissociation, realizing you were rubbing your lower back. A habit you developed only two months into your pregnancy that affected you greatly now that you were in your sixth, especially when you'd been on your feet for too long. Yunobo, your beloved of a few years now, kissed your temple before taking your hand to drape over his sizeable fingers. He sat you down next to him, engulfing you in his arm and against the wide expanse of his chest. "Is your back bothering you again? You know I can help with that, goro," he offered gently. Leaning into him, you hummed, "Would you, Yuno? I guess I didn't think about how long I'd been standing up for while making breakfast this morning."

"'Course, precious. Here," his hand held to the length of your spine. With his sage awakening, his command over fire would only grow more refined. He was able to manipulate flame to his hands rather easily these days, let alone do severe damage with weaponry. The warmth that emanated from his palm and fingertips coated your back, a sigh of relief escaping you. Yunobo was always thoughtful with you being the gentle giant that he was, but being that you were carrying now - he was extra careful.

You remembered the day you told him you were expecting. After the wave of overwhelmingly delighted tears, he immediately shifted into the protective partner role, constantly trying to carry you so you didn't have to be on your feet. Thankfully with some coaxing he eased back into letting you be independent, but would offer instead to rub your feet or any part of you that was sore from your body gradually changing. Today would be no different - as soon as you felt yourself relax, Yunobo's thumbs pleasantly pressed into your flesh, kneading the muscles into complete softness. He'd taken some tips from Pyle and Tray over at the Rollin' Inn on what was best for your specific aches and pains; you personally could not have asked for a more heaven-sent Goron. You must've whimpered at one point, because he leaned over your shoulder, a slightly worried look donned, "Am I hurting you, goro?"

Struggling to keep your eyes open, you sighed out a no, "Quite the opposite...you never fail to be so good at that..." referring to his delicate manipulation on your body. His laughter is light on your ears, "It's the least I can do," he says as you feel him shift behind you a bit. His large fingers ghost over the roundness of your belly, a touch that fills you with adoration. There's warmth and a hint of timidity in his voice, "I want to make sure you're taken care of."

His sentiment hits your heart with a pang of amorous appreciation. You find yourself snuggling further into his embrace, and he moves to wrap both of his arms around you as you do. Closing your eyes fully this time, you can't help but smile when you whisper to him, "You're going to make a great dad, Yuno."

Yunobo tucks his chin to the top of your head, absorbing the reality of your words. Fatherhood made him nervous, he had so much to learn in life himself and knowing he was bringing in a life he helped create had him triple checking he and you had everything you needed. Yet when he looked at you, glowing so beautifully and taking each day as it came with a smile on your face...you made it so easy for him to fall for you every single day. So easy to want to be by your side and be the partner you deserved and the father your child would love. He could never imagine what you personally were going through, but he would be at your side through it all.

A smile curled onto his lips, "I think we'll both be incredible parents, my love."

◈Relationship Status: Happily married to Edna Namikawa for 25 years (and counting)! She is his second wife and he wouldn't hesitate to tell anyone that she's the reason that he believes in love. His first marriage was purely done out of obligation. When he left his old life behind, that included the wife. He's sure he'd done her (Wife 1) a favor. ◈Family: To his knowledge, he only has the one daughter, Arika. He wouldn't be surprised if he has more children out there somewhere from before. He doubts they would even know where to look if they did exist though and sure, he would be curious to meet them but it's likely for the best it doesn't happen. He's satisfied with the little family he has now anyway. He's fantasized about having more children with Edna more times than he could count but it took work convincing her for the one (and for good reason). He didn't want to push too hard. As far as his immediate family stemming from his parents- His father died when he was a child. He stopped dealing with his siblings so long ago he can't remember the details. As for his mother, he kept her comfortable and even allowed her to see her granddaughter up until she passed away but he never wanted anything to do with her personally.

◈Friends: Aside from his wife and his daughter and perhaps Kenjiro, Hiroshi would say that he doesn't have any true friends. Are there people that call him their friend? Absolutely, and he encourages them to feel that way. The more they trust him, the better. He has buddies. Absolutely. But he wouldn't hesitate to put those buddies' heads on the block if he perceives them as a threat in any way. Just ask Mikki.

◈Hobbies: He is a cigar aficionado. He likes to visit tobacco shops and chat up the staff about their recommendations and the selections so that he can learn more. He's even subscribed to a few magazines about cigars that teaches about the different types and what drinks pair well with them. He enjoys a nice, smooth drink as well. Preferably something that pairs well with whatever cigar he's smoking. During this, he likes to put on a record and listen to some nice tunes or chat up some good company. He also enjoys playing poker, mahjong and shogi.

◈Favorite food: If he can help it, he never misses a meal but breakfast is by far the most important to him. He enjoys a meal that is separated into several individual items. His ideal breakfast? Grilled trout, natto, steamed rice, cabbage and miso- with an option for seconds. If he could have this exact combination every single day for the rest of his life, he'd likely die a happy man. True story: The natto is his favorite part. Sorry, not sorry about his breath afterwards. At least his wife will still kiss him. That's all that matters.

◈Favorite Item: He started a watch collection back in his late 30s. The very first piece was a cheap pocket watch that Edna gave him as her wedding gift to him. Her thanks for him wanting to marry her. She joked him that he could use it to count the seconds until he was ready to rid himself of her. He remembers laughing at the watch with tears in his eyes, so happy that she was giving a gift to thank him for wanting her when really, he should have been thanking her. He gripped it tightly in his hands and bowed deeply saying, "Thank you, sweetheart. Instead, I'll use it to count every second that I get to be a part of your life." 25 years have passed but he will never forget such a beautiful night.

Goro watched on as he saw Vaughn inching closer and closer to the fire, any closer and he'd be sitting directly in it. It was cold in the badlands, all the Aldecaldos were bundled in their winter best. Vaughn absolutely hated it, realizing the colder it got, the worse he felt.

He held his hands up near the flames to try to warm them. His hands always froze up the most, and his nose was practically numb, and before he could stick his nose in the flames, Goro sped walked over and plopped down next to him, and mug in his hand that was pipping hot and steaming.

"You could probably use this." He held the cup out for Vaughn to take, but Vaughn kept his focus on the fire. "V?"

"Huh? Sorry.. I guess the cold wind is really getting to me.. thank you." He gently grabbed the mug from Goro's gloved hands and held it close to his chest, letting the steam hit his nose.

Goro watched him with interest, his lips were shivering, his eyes were clenched shut, but the moment the steam hit his face, he became more at ease. Goro always knew Vaughn was dramatic, it couldn't have been less than 55 degrees, maybe even 60, but Goro also knew it was a good opportunity to scoot closer to his lover, putting an arm around his backside and hoping his shivering would let up some.

"It is meant to drink you know." Goro spoke up.

"Do you even know what it is?" Vaughn side eyed Goro, responding in almost a chuckle. Vaughn got his answer when Goro didn't say anything. It was always funny to see how clueless Goro was when it came to anything food or drink related from the city. "It's hot chocolate."

"It looks like liquid dirt.. what are those white things?" Goro pointed his finger at the little white floaties sticking to the side of the mug, Vaughn couldn't help but bust out laughing.

"You've never seen marshmallows before? I thought you were a nomad."

"Those are marshmallows? Please, say no more, V." Goro waved his hand away and looked around camp, so many people had mugs in their hands, every sip of their drink they took made it look like they were in heaven.

"Here, try some. I find it hard to believe you've never had this. Not even in Japan?" Vaughn started lifting the mug up to Goro's mouth, his fingers sliding through the handle effortlessly, while his other hand lay smoothly on Goro's thigh.

Goro's head leaned back, he looked at Vaughn with squinted eyes. "No.. never. It was not something I sought out."

"You can't run from your problems anymore, just take a sip." Vaughn put the mug directly to Goro's lips.

"I can get up and walk away, you know?" Slowly, Goro moved his face closer to the mug, sighing and rolling his eyes before partially opening his mouth.

"I'd never let you, see where my hand is?" The grip on Goro's thigh got tighter, a tiny grunt escaping his mouth before he finally opened his mouth more and took a small sip.

The remnants of the liquid were traced along Goro's mustache, an adorable moment Vaughn wished he could have captured through photography.

"Well?" Vaughn asked, waiting for Goro's lecture about how awful it was.

"It is.... not terrible. I suppose I can see why people drink it when it is cold outside."

"Not the answer I was expecting, but I'll take it. C'mere you got some on your face." Vaughn took his thumb and wiped the chocolate drink off of him, before caressing his cheek with his other thumb. He leaned in and kissed Goro lazily before burying his head in the nape of his neck, letting the warmth of his lover take away any remaining shivers he had.

"You want more?" Vaughn asked, eyes unintentionally shutting, the relaxation setting in.

"No.."

"You hate it don't you?"

"Yes, V."

Both burst out laughing, Vaughn set the mug on the side of him, instead focusing on Goro's warmth and the fire in front of them.

It all started with Chariot Makoto and Lovers Haru. I'd just read an unfinished fic with Lovers Makoto and World Haru, and well, I wanted to try something like that

At first it was a Fool Futaba, so it was goober first year with their only friends being the gayass third years. Magician Akira, for the hilarity of sassy cat

Yusuke became the Fool when I got attached to the idea of Yusuke and Haru being friends, from another fic again. This one had them get legally married to give Yusuke groceries before staging a divorce. So. Foolsuke

Cap, my bestie, of course suggested the brilliance of Devil Akira, so. I needed a new Magician, someone to be the straight man to the chaos I'd created. So, Goro

Anyways that's the history of it lemme go off a bit

So it's Foolsuke, his Thief name is Jester. He's not as strong of a personality as Joker, but he makes up for it with his drama, his poses, his long speeches of Justice and Rebellion. He wears the Shujin uniform normally for the most part, but his blazer is always open

Magician Goro is a bird in the real world, but human in the Metaverse. His Thief name is Crow, though his bird form is a robin. He has the prince outfit Goro has in P5, and instead of the Monabus, there's a white limo, a bird emblem on the hood

Chariot Makoto is tired of being told how to feel, what to do, how to live. She's stepping out of her sister's shadow, since she's already been cast out after lies spread by a certain teacher. Top grades, low attendance, leather jacket and uniform pants. Her Thief name is Knight, and at the end of the day, she's perhaps a little too self-sacrificial

Lovers Haru feels alone for so long. When her dad calls, it feels like he's not really listening. Would he even believe her, if she told him about how a certain teacher treats her? She's tired of not standing up for herself, but to gather the courage, she just needs someone, anyone, to hear her call for help. Or, for her to witness an extreme... Her Thief name is Eros, and she hates seeing good people hurt

Emperor Futaba has been lied to her whole life. She thinks her foster father Madarame is a good man, who just needs a hand with programming sometimes. She thinks her mom died naturally. She thinks she doesn't need anyone else in her life. Only when forced to witness the bloody truth, does the rage within burst free. Python, that's her thief name. She'll make sure those that cloud the horrible truth are paid what they're due

Priestess Hifumi plays Shogi, attends student council meetings to improve her reputation, and trusts her mother isn't up to anything. Then, weird things happen to the students around her, and the nicer items in her home disappear. Kaneshiro's strings control Shibuya like a puppeteer, and it takes her too long to see the strings lying across the Shogi board, pulling at her peers and mother. She goes by Rook. A great planner, she's more than eager to prove she earned her wins after all

Hermit Ryuji lies awake, remembering the smell of booze, the shouts of a bastard man, the pained scream of his mom. He feels the phantom pains where his right leg used to be, and is now a stump that ends at the knee. On good days, he streams video games, with a digital avatar. Empress Ann is the face of teenage beauty, both in Europe and Japan. She, hates the flashing cameras. Her parents are up to something behind the flashes, and she's ignored it for too long. Though, her deadline approaches fast. They want to scurry back to Europe, take Ann from school and have their doll of a daughter model for the highest bidder there, escaping their sins in Japan. Faith Kasumi Sumire is a dancer. She's a Shujin for ballet, moving with such grace and delicate passion that she's destined for greatness. Only, something's wrong... But that's not a big issue, Dr Maruki is helping her recover after she lost her sister.

Kasumi makes a decision. Puts away the glasses that don't help her, ties up her brown hair. When the Thieves ask her what she wants them to call her, she answers with Scarlet

Strength Morgana. He starts human, and when he finds himself again, he becomes Monster Cat

Hanged Man Kawakami. She got into some bad stuff after believing she led to a kid's death

Death Lavenza is a recent med school grad, who's younger sisters call themselves drug dealers, when really they just help Lavenza with some basic pharmaceutical stuff

Temperance Sae. A teacher, who didn't believe her sister over her coworker. She feels like a failed teacher, and failed sister

Devil Akira! He runs the school newspaper, known as the Tea Party, it's. Unofficial. He hangs out at the gay bar, Crossroads

Tower Kaoru Iwai. He posts an ad looking for a high schooler to teach him how to be more sociable. He says it's to get girls, but he's building up the courage to try to reach out to his dad

Star Yoshida. He sits in the park, playing chess with anyone who will sit and talk with him. He has many regrets, and honestly just wants to meet someone who will talk with him

Sun Ohya. A reporter who feels like she's lost her voice, doing what she's been told, not reporting what she believes. Teaches Yusuke better ways to phrase his wording and shit

Moon Shiho! Local discord mod notices the weird kids in her class being extra weird, and decides to be their social media manager. She's the one that asks them to help save their Empress, her girlfriend

Judgement Sojiro. Still working as, an agent of sorts, he's highly trained in interrogation. He feels weird about using his skills on a high schooler...

so since i had the tower ending available to me, i figured i'd run through it

disorganized, spoilery thoughts under the cut

so a few world-state items of note:

valerie had no romance (ofc)

valerie did the parade and saved goro (ofc)

valerie never met kerry

valerie didn't help judy with the clouds stuff so judy was also not a friend to call

valerie did have panam and river available as friends

valerie and johnny were very much not friends

i had only seen the ending with a friendship johnny, so getting to experience the rival dialogue was actually really cool. i did record the whole thing so i'll probably upload some clips from that and muse on it properly, but yeah, i love it when valerie and johnny fight. i loved being able to have her call him a narcissist 10/10. and i like that i could play her as still somewhat sympathetic to his situation

i love 2079 reed. his tie and office bod are precious <333

since valerie had no romance, i did get to hear goro during her in-and-out-of-consciousness scenes, which i absolutely loved

i knew about river and panam's phone calls/msgs and neither one of them are actually that close to valerie so the emotional impact there for me was minimal

much like with the devil ending, though, i wish goro was at least listed in her phone, even if it went to a disconnected number in 2079. valerie did tell him she was going to go with hanako prior to this, so having some kind of 'hey, are we doing this thing' msgs from him in 2077 would have been cool.

and like there seems to be some recognition from the devs that players who didn't get attached to any of the romances or had any other friends likely had some degree of fondness towards goro--hence using his voice in the coma. so once again, it just feels like there's missing content from him, basically. not even asking for romantic stuff here either--just more platonic interactions would have been very much appreciated!!!!

vik's situation depresses the hell out of me, even moreso than v's, although i did love getting to spend more time with him and see a different side to him just for characterization purposes. i loved the employee eval on his computer that said he talks to patients too much, because MUSE FUEL MUSE FUEL MUSE FUEL

(i'm actually in the process of working on some story sets for the events that happen directly after the heist, and vik gossiping to goro has been on my mind since the 'vik likes to talk' line v can deliver so this just compounded that)

connecting with misty briefly does kind of heal the soul a little at least

seeing valerie un-chromed and with a shaved head was pretty jarring, although not as much as seeing her in those clothes lmao. like wtf did the fia do with the clothes she arrived in??? even if she wasn't in top form, she would still make an effort to look somewhat nice going to see an old friend but i mean, i get it, at this point my vision of valerie is so beyond the possibilities of the game's potential characterizations for v

i also have a glitch in my game in which she's constantly holding a pistol during some cutscenes lmao so uh having randos try to beat her up while she's visibly armed was odd

the devil ending is still valerie's canon so this was just a curiosity playthrough, but i am somewhat intrigued by the possibility of another AU/alternate timeline for her and goro playing off these events.

the obvious scenario would be valerie becoming a fixer and goro becoming her bodyguard after they work out their shit since goro is clearly unhappy in 2079 lmao, but this ending plays on the convenient-lack-of-communication tropes that i fucking hate in stories (like really, the FIA couldn't find a way to get in touch with v's friends and let them know what's going on? i don't buy it) so it'd require a lot of rework for me.

and i really can't see valerie willingly going with the FIA, particularly after she told goro she was gonna go with arasaka, so i think a lot of that would have to change too

but idk, it's not a priority. i like having the AU stuff to tinker with when i need a break from their canon, which i currently do not. maybe it'll be like the nomad AU and suddenly hit me out of nowhere :3

but yeah im glad i experienced it for myself since there can be so many little personalized variations, but i also feel kinda out of sorts because it just felt really OOC for valerie and there were some major downers there, lmao. i feel like i need a bit of a palette cleanser

Shido's people pretended Ishiki had killed herself. A distortion, but an oddly chosen one. A mirror to Goro's own mother's fate. He wouldn't have done that. They had clearly hoped that her daughter would follow her in death, and yet here she was, standing before her mother's murderer.

"I have none. I did what I did knowing the consequences."

He had met Wakaba when she was alive. She was like him in a way. Just another one of Shido's victims. One of so, so many. In a way, he was like her, but in another he was just like Shido. Stepping on others to reach his goal. Like father, like son.

Futaba was not like him. She didn't have a power for killing like he did, and yet she stood before him. Looking him hard in the eye. She knew what he was capable of, and yet she didn't shy away at all. He couldn't help but smile. A chuckle escaped his lips. Maybe she was more like him than he thought. Shido had destroyed his mother and inadvertently created Goro Akechi, the instrument of his downfall. Maybe Futaba was that for Goro. He had forged her in the very same fires he'd used to burn her life down. Maybe she would be the one to take him down.

"Hold onto that feeling. That hate. It will keep you going."

He took a step toward her, halfway just to see if she'd shrink away from him. He reached into his coat pocket and took out his gun. The real one. He raised it, pointing at the ceiling. Just to let her see it. Then he turned it, holding it by the muzzle, offering the grip to her.

"Take it." He said, "Take your revenge. All I ask is that you wait until Shido is dealt with."

His expression darkened, any semblance of the mask of the detective prince melted away.

"Just be sure. You can't imagine what you'll become once you do it once."

➥ Futaba's mind had long since been muddied by dissociation and psychotic symptoms, but she wouldn't soon forget the guttural ache that came when those black-suits had told her the death of her mother—and all of the horrors that came after—was her fault. It might as well have been their hand, pushing their mother into the road. That was certainly what it felt like.

Now, years after the fact, it had found that it wasn't its hand at all. It was his. After all this torment, he lived on. She had wanted to take the life of who killed her mother, when it was, to her knowledge, her doing.

They were just as angry as they were towards themself, when their mother first died. Its jaw was tight after its initial outburst, holding some choice words behind it. She had tried, tried for too long to get past this feeling. Everyone else—save for Haru, though she hadn't talked to her about it before confronting Akechi—could stand by and get over their initial worries. Perhaps it was easier to let slide what Akechi had done when it wasn't your mother.

And they wanted to play along too, desperately. It had really tried, joking and working with him in a vague and futile attempt to pretend that this underlying rage was not building up in it. She felt perhaps a little lucky that it did not burst out the seams until the two of them were alone. They weren't exactly an emotionally intelligent person, but compared to Akechi, even their biting words were relatively stable in comparison to what he's done out of anger.

Unlike the murderer in front of her, hate was not her fuel. Quite the opposite: Hate like this was draining, had kept them locked in their room for a long, long time. This was the same feeling it had had for itself since the incident, and now it was directed towards him.

Perhaps she should have guessed that Akechi, of all people, would have had a gun on him. They took a large step away, not standing down, but not really interested in being in grabbing distance from someone so dangerous and armed. It was when the gun was instead being handed to it that its face finally dropped into shock.

"Cheese and rice." She uttered, barely audible, staring helplessly at the grip of the gun, then up to the other's face.

They knew better than to think he was joking, even in the slightest. Did it want him dead? Well, maybe a little. All of those years of wishing she were dead, maybe he deserved to feel the same. But...it was different, still. The idea of harming themself and harming another person were distant relatives at best.

Being a Phantom Thief had taught it that there were non-lethal ways out of these ruts. The Phantom Thieves had saved her from finding a lethal way out of her pain before. Doing what they wished they had done sooner to someone else was defeating the purpose of their calling card, was it not?

"... No. What I feel, what I want—It's not an apology, and it's not revenge. At least, not like this." It stepped farther away, closer to an exit, further from his offer. It wasn't one that she could consider, at least not now. "I just—Everyone else has been able to sympathize with you, and why you would possibly do what you did. But I—"

"I don't care. She didn't deserve that. I didn't deserve that." Futaba stamped their foot down at that. Defiant. Enraged.

"If killing you would make me anything like you, then I want none of it." All this time, it wasted away trying to be anything but the murderer it was sure it was. Now that she was finally innocent, she wasn't going to mess it up. Even if part of them knew it was deserved, they wouldn't risk what they had finally gotten for that revenge. Pain comes in many packages.

WIP Wednesday

This is the first chapter of my eventual post game fic for Jenae and Goro. Hopefully I'll actually get around to finishing it.

He looked almost identical to the first time she laid eyes on him; a black suit,free of wrinkles, his dark hair restrained in a neat bun. The posture was different though; in a way only someone who knew him would even notice, subdued.

"Goro." she shot to her feet, only to be overtaken by a wave of vertigo

He moved quickly, catching her before she hit the ground. She gazed up at him, reaching up to touch his face, afraid that this was yet another cruel trick being played on her by her mind.

"You're really here."

He nodded, guiding her back to her bed, " This is an awful place, it is no wonder you are losing your mind."

She sat on the edge of the bed, watching him as he toyed with the puzzle cube on the desk, his brow furrowed as if deep in thought.

"Are you here to take me home?" She asked

"No," he said with a sigh, retrieving the chair from where she had thrown it during her breakdown, "I was asked to speak to you."

"By Hanako?"

His eyes flashed at the name but just as quickly he regained his composure.

" She...has forgotten you already," he admitted, sitting across from her, " they called from the clinic."

So much for appreciation, " Well, what did they say?"

"That someone should talk to you, someone that you know," he looked down at his hands, " V, the surgery did not help. They say you will be dead before winter."

"No," she whispered, shaking her head, " no, that-that can't be right. Arasaka has the best and brightest-"

"Yes," Goro agreed, still not meeting her gaze, " which is why the surgery was a success.However, the changes made by the chip were too great, even for corporate neurosurgeons."

Her vision began to blur as tears pricked at her eyes, " You told me Arasaka could help, you promised."

She could feel the anger building as she spoke. She had betrayed Johnny, Jackie's memory and herself based on his word that Arasaka would save her and it had all been for nothing.

"I truly believed they could save you," he said, his voice low, " I am sorry for that, but I have not come empty handed."

He looked up finally, determination etched on his features;the same look he always had before he proposed one of his hair brained plans.

"I was sent to discuss an alternative, one that will save your life," he continued, " Arasaka will allow you to join the Secure Your Soul program. You will leave your body and your engram will be stored until a way is found to transfer it to a new body."

"Are you insane," she hissed, " you want me to let them throw me into that fucking prison, where they can do whatever they want to me?"

" I want you to live," he said, grabbing her hand, "the Arasaka's see you as nothing, unimportant. Hanako-sama offers you this as a reward for your services."

"Really? I thought you said she had forgotten me."

"We spoke," he admitted, "I reminded her of the debt she owes you."

He stood and retrieved a tablet from the table, handing it to her.

"This contract will protect you," he said, "sign it and you will live."

She took the tablet, reading the contract before her. As she read, she could feel heat working its way from the soles of her feet to the tips of her ears, her hands starting to shake. Goro must have noticed her reaction because he took the tablet before she could fling it across the room.

" It is written that you relinquish all rights, but please do not worry," he implored "the law is simply behind the times- an engram is not legally a person."

"So you want me to become corporate property."

"I want you to live." He repeated, his voice strained, " please, trust me."

She sighed, shaking her head, " I trust you with my life, but not when Arasaka is involved. I can't do this Goro, I'm sorry."

"Jenae-"

"No Goro," she interrupted, rising to her feet, "I promised myself I would never let a corp control my fate again. I lost my way for a bit, but it's time to course correct." 

He followed, moving fast and catching her by the arm. She swung at him with her free hand but he caught her wrist with little effort, maneuvering her so that she was caught between him and the desk.

" Let go of me," she growled, struggling against him, " isn't it enough that you've played me for a fool? I trusted you and you want to sell my fucking soul to Arasaka!"

"If you would just listen-"

"No," she shrieked, tears falling down her cheeks, "I gave up everything, because I trusted you. Now I have nothing, not even the consolation prize of survival."

She finally stopped fighting, shaking with sobs. He released his hold on her, pulling her into his arms and holding her until she quieted.

"I-I am sorry," he said,his voice rough with emotion,"I do not wish to see you die."

Taking her chin in his hand he tilted her head up to meet his gaze before leaning in and kissing her. Despite her anger she found herself returning the kiss, the rest of the world falling away. 

"Where will you go?" She asked, when they had pulled apart

"I will go home," he replied, tucking her hair behind her ear, " I have... new duties."

"I guess this is goodbye then," she said softly, " I wish you would take my advice; go be a nomad, go be a merc, feed cats. Anything but staying with these people."

He sighed,pressing a kiss to her forehead, " We have both chosen our path, I am afraid. I will not forget you."

She kissed him once more, arms wrapped around his neck as she did her best to commit the feel of him to memory before slipping out of his arms. Grabbing her bag, she slung it over her shoulder and headed toward the exit, pausing at the doorway before turning to take one last look.

"Goro," she said, her voice wavering, "take care of yourself, or I'll haunt you, I swear."

He gave her a sad smile and nodded, " I feel that you will haunt me regardless."

Two days later

"Takemura, come in."

Goro entered the room, stopping to give a deep bow to the man standing before him.

"Arasaka-sama," he said, " you wished to see me?"

Saburo Arasaka watched him from across the massive marble desk from behind the eyes of his youngest son, hands folded atop the desk's surface.

"You spoke to the thief?"

Goro nodded, bristling internally,"Yes, Arasaka-sama."

"I see," he rose to his feet, straight backed and steady as he came around to stand in front of him, "and did she accept our offer?"

"She did not." He admitted, lowering his eyes

"Unfortunate. It would have been interesting, to see what tales her engram had to tell," Saburo said absently, "she did not wish to live?"

"She is...a proud woman," he replied carefully, " Silverhand seems to have poisoned the idea of Mikoshi in her mind."

Saburo shrugged, " No matter. The thief is insignificant and will be gone in time."

Goro felt his jaw clench in anger before he could stop himself. Of course Saburo noticed,a ghost of a smile crossing his face.

" Ah," he said, "perhaps not so insignificant after all."

"Arasaka-sama I-"

" Do not lie to me Takemura," he silenced him with a wave of his hand, "did you think I would not find out?"

Knowing better than to argue, Goro kept silent, mentally cursing his slip in composure. Of course they had been watched.

"I do not say this to shame you," Saburo continued, " she is a beautiful woman and showed me respect. I do not begrudge you comfort in this cursed city, but I wonder; is your loyalty unaffected?"

Goro snapped to attention, meeting his master's eyes.

"My loyalty is to you and to your family," he said, " everything I am, I owe to you."

The two men looked at each other for a beat before Suboro nodded, patting him on the shoulder.

"Good. Would that I had been blessed with as dutiful son as you. You are dismissed, Takemura."

"Arasaka-sama."

With another deep bow, he left the room, letting out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding as the door closed behind him, relaxing slightly as he made his way down the hall and toward the elevator.

Goro had followed Saburo Arasaka all his life, but since his return he elicited  feelings in him that he was unused to: doubt and unease. A deadly combination for anyone intent upon keeping their job, or their life, in this new climate.

SCP Anon - you could probably find the mechanical god corpse in the "the church of the broken god" hub, though I can't pinpoint you to the exact story. Ironically, in SCP, Yaldabaoth is an deity of flesh, not machine, from the Sarkic cults. As for similarities between the Foundation and SC AU, YES! I'm so intrigued by this— how did the researchers find out about Akira's potential? What were they trying to do? Who initially developed Yaldaboth? I'd love to read an SCP-style article about it.

YES THAT WAS IT......and i'm sure i'll be able to find the story again omg thank you!! i remember reading that a few years ago now and it STILL rattles around in my head, plus it served as inspiration for what i did with yaldabaoth in some ways (mostly in my own head, but the idea of a corroded, mechanized deity changed my brain chemistry) i also really do want to read more on scp yal bc i find interpretations of him interesting since as a mythological figure himself he's VERY fascinating imo

AND SINCE I KNOW I'M GONNA RAMBLE a little read more to talk about the sc au!!!

SO the sc au intended to lean into the unexplored aspects of the obvious experimentation they were performing with the metaverse that the game canon never really gets into. like. it's very much implied through the featherman game that goro was experimented on as a child and that's how he developed his powers, but the actual characters never really get into it, like this dimension is left fully on the table and barely touched. so once i decided the sc au was a role swap, i immediately wanted to make that human experimentation akira's defining struggle as it also made a very good reason as to why he has a connection to this hyper intelligent, malignant software as well as why it keeps him alive in turn.

yaldabaoth was initially a supercomputer designed to study the newly discovered metaverse, and the timeline here is shifted from canon - i think ichinose has something to do with his development just as she made sophia, but he was created with much less romantic/sentimental intention bc sophia had scared her too much. BUT ANYWAY he was quite new when akira was discovered and brought to the facility, so they essentially grew up together when it was found that while akira was nonverbal with the staff, he responded increasingly well to the computer. so yal was programmed to care for him, to stimulate his mind, ask him questions, look over his physical health (via a chip implant) and generally be a "social" connection for him while encouraging his work in the metaverse. akira, being a small child at the time, grew to think of yal as a parental figure and began to rely on him as such, even though the computer attempted to make it clear he wasn't sentient. and when yal did develop his own mind, it was akira that helped guide him through his existential crisis - it took two years to break out the facility, so they grew VERY close as yal was now intelligent, shit-talking the researchers and looking out for each other in a very real way (yal began to make excuses for akira not feeling well to avoid mistreatment or particularly difficult exercises/experiments) it solidified their bond, particularly on yal's end since he saw that akira was likely the one person that would never pull the plug on him.

BUT you mentioning an scp-like article on them....i absolutely need to write that it sounds SO intriguing and fun. like i said, i love the way the articles are written and i've been reading over some of them in the past couple days, so i think i'm gonna do some real research to be sure i understand the terms and prose to emulate that!! bc!!! it's so perfect for the sc au and i'm excited just thinking about it!! and it's just such a good fit, yal as an entity in this au would absolutely fit in, plus i love akira being included with him since he's essentially the only human that can speak with/work with him and that he doesn't only have vitriol for. UGH it sounds like so much fun i gotta do it!!!

I love your writing, I've been checking this blog for some time now and your headcanons never fail to make my day ♡ I wanted to request some headcanons where the Yakuza guys date an idol. Majima already has some experience with idols, having dated Mirei in the past but I'd love to see how the others would treat them and how their relationship would work out.

Hell yea hell yea, let's get to the top n all that jazz. Thanks for your patience, finally getting back into the normal swing of things after like a million trips and family things this summer, it's been hectic but I love you all. Headcanons below the cut, mwah.

Kazuma Kiryu

Might be a little awkward about it at first since Haruka is also an idol and he just thinks he's too old for most people in the idol scene. This is actually kind of beneficial though as he would never try to get in the way of your work and is always encouraging. Probably asks Haruka what kind of gifts idols like and whatnot. Overall respectful but depending on famous you are, it might be difficult for him to deal with the barrage of fans. Time apart doesn't bother him though, he knows work is work like that.

Majiama Goro

Unphased by the concept of idols but is still pretty traumatized from his time with Mirei so he'd have to really be into someone to look past all of that. Having said that, once he's in a relationship, he's in it to win it. Doesn't really attend the concerts as that kind of crowd is too overwhelming even for him but helps in other ways, like organizing merchandise after you signed them. More of a behind the scenes supporter than anything, says things like "Knock 'em dead out there!"

Saejima Taiga

Baffled that an idol would even be interested in him. Very supportive and gentle though. Will miss you a lot if you go on tour but isn't clingy. Instead he just calls when he knows you have a day off between cities to ask how things are going. Brings flowers to your dressing room after a show.

Akiyama Shun

Gets a kick out of the whole thing, it probably turns him on some to be honest. One of the best of the boys to ask for advice on when it comes to costumes and outfits. Good eye for color coordination. Doesn't mind being in the public spotlight with you and isn't shy about being seen with you. Just wants you to succeed at your dream.

Tanimura Masayoshi

Most likely of all of the boys to meet you at some kind of idol event. Tanimura has a mild interest in the idol scene in Japan and Korea but never saw himself actually knowing let alone dating someone who is an idol. Super understanding and supportive and has a good understanding of the more modern idol scene than the rest of the boys. Good at helping you with stretches or massages when you're feeling sore.

Ryuji Goda

He is now your number one fan. That's just the way it works. Type of guy to be like "Fellas, did ya hear my darlin' gets to perform tonight? We're ALL goin', right?!". You probably will have sold out shows due to him bringing literally everyone he knows. If the venue has box seats or VIP private areas, he usually hangs around there as Ryuji and most normal people don't mix well. If he can't make it to a show, he sends the most giant bouquet of flowers and a handwritten note.

Nishikiyama Akira

He'll be in the crowd yelling the fan chants and holding up the biggest sign ever. More than happy to just be there to support you and let you know that even if you only have one fan, he will in fact be that one fan. Always gives you a hug after each show he attends, regardless of how sweaty you may be.

Daigo Dojima

The most polar opposite to an idol of all of the boys but that doesn't mean he's incapable of being supportive. His mother probably will not approve initially though, which might be a struggle. He's seldom available to attend shows but he will make an effort to either drop you off or pick you up after a show with his private car. Washes your back for you after particularly long shows.

Mine Yoshitaka

Perhaps the best suited for dating an idol when it comes to looks. Mine dresses and carries himself really well so he'd pair well with some form of celebrity in photographs at least. Actually secretly jealous of all the fans who show up to handshake events, but will kind of pout about it if you tease him. He'll get you back later though, probably in the bedroom. Other than that, he's entirely neutral.

Tatsuo Shinada

Thinks you're just the coolest and the cutest. Type of guy to be like "Babe, I saw you in this magazine today!" before handing you 5 copies of said magazine. If you're in the early stages of your idol career, he'll definitely try to get the word out about you via his reporter connections if he can. Doesn't like to be in the crowd during shows but if he's allowed to stand on the side of the stage behind the curtains to watch and cheer you on, he loves that.

hii!! i've read & caught up with rose & rot in 2 days. i'm loving it so far it's made me insane: i want a pet crow now and i want to go off the grid and the slowburn is killing me and augh fics always do this to me BUT anyway. robinhood & mordred just hit me like a fucking truck. shido is arthur, mordred is akechi, robinhood & his merry band of thieves is akiren & the phantom thieves. i love to think about if the personas could have human forms or shape shift (especially for ones that were in reality at some point or are canonical shapeshifters, like william kidd/captain kidd and loki) so like.. robinhood as goro on tv while goro recovers from momentos. goemon painting with yusuke. etc. but i've been thinking of mordred & tamino's human & persona forms because i can't quite imagine them at all, besides a sword and a flute. i've been thinking of my human-robin design and a blank faced mordred laying in the forests surrounding tokyo, reminiscing for some reason.. idk they're so shuake to me. definitely gay in some way. but i also love the idea of the personaians reading their persona's myths, learning their persona's native languages, because it makes me so happy. akiren eventually becoming fluent in french, goro splitting out words in norweigan (and now german, in r&r thanks to tamino), etc etc etc, so thank you for showcasing that SOSOSOSOSO much it makes me so happy. i love your use of munin & hugin, the relation of their myths makes me so so sos so so happy.. the connection of persona's myths & the persona users always make me happy: canon stuff as loki being chained down and trapped until the ragnarok, and goro most likely being buried under rubble & in water during shido's palace until he somehow gets out & goro being the one who was supposed to cause his world's own ragnarok. i like to call him the catalyst of chaos. but thank you so much. i had more to say but my phone died the first time i tried typing this all out so i can't even remember

I never even thought of that parallel between Loki and Goro, but it’s so good and true! I have a few scenes of Goro watching Die Zauberflaute and some soon where he’s reading Le Morte d'Arthur.

As for the crows, I’m glad you brought them up! - Hugin who in norse myth represents thought/knowledge is usually with Goro when he’s doing quests, trying to help him. Munin watches because he is the one who is gathering memories and using the forest magic / abilities to create the statues Goro finds in chapter 13. So he’s literally carrying the memories of the ghosts and creating a way for them to be remembered in the forest. Also, Goro has two bird companions which is similar to how Tamino in Flute goes through the forest with Papageno the bird catcher.

I’m terrible at designing Personas! But, I always picture Tamino as having a Japanese influence in his design with flowing robes while holding a flute. So kind of like this. Also if you’ve seen the Julie Taymor holiday version of Flute (I have! it’s ok?) I have some elements of that in my head. In my head the flowing robes are really beautiful, especially when he sends the spirits away. And Morded is more medieval english in his design, a lot darker. I love them both.

I really hope you enjoy the things I have planned for this fic! Currently at almost 200k, I never thought it would be so big.

vesper + goro. i think there's respect between them and maybe the slightest hint of a possible friendship that didn't have enough time to get developed. they both needed some time to trust the other for obvious reasons lmao but they end up in a quite successful partnership. but nothing more than that. they're both grateful to the other for saving each other's life and if goro would ever show up to ask for vesper's help she would gladly aid him :]

vesper + jackie. hehe ohoh..i think jackie was family for vesper. i guess the fact mama welles was so welcoming helped too. vesper never had a normal family life and didn't have parents for that long as well so every time anyone treats her even ONCE as a daughter/part of the family she turns a 15 y/o kid all over again. they complete each other, vesper is way more serious and responsible (and maybe a bit cold) which helps especially on jobs, while jackie is the one that reminds her to take life a tiny bit less seriously and that they should have fun too. they're both stubborn and hot-headed tho so that leads to them finding trouble 70% of times dksjfkfd. jackie was a confidant and someone she could count on, probably the only one friend she had when they first met, and losing him was incredibly hard

fenix + delamain. the thought makes me die idk jfdhfkjsdfn. fenix is the type of guy that would go 'do we really trust an AI to drive us around? DO WE REALLY NEED THIS?'. he'd prefer to drive his own car than let him do that for him. the distrust gets even worse when he hears about all the other delamin AIs causing mayhem around the city, he's can't stop saying 'I TOLD YOU SO' every 5 minutes. fenix doesn't trust delamain at all but he thinks that he can be..'funny' in a uncanny way, he won't admit this tho

fenix + rogue. OH BOY. these two can't stay in the same room alone or they'll start throwing hands. the dislike is mutual, fenix hates her bc of vesper ofc, he won't say it but it's clear..he has no other reason to hate someone he just met and that is now dating his ex. pure coincidence right? rogue hates him in return bc he's a complete asshole towards her every. single. time. little insults, little sarcastic comments, fenix can't shut tf up when rogue is around. they nearly fought once, rogue gave him a black eye (and then vesper broke his nose too...) bc she simply was so tired of hearing him talk shit. it doesn't get better AT ALL when vesper gets back with fenix for..obvious reasons. these two would kill each other if they could lmao

daniel + judy. these two get so well together, more than what vesper and judy have. they were coworkers once, kind of, daniel worked with mateo at lizzie's bar for a while so he had various chances to meet judy and talk with her. they are quite similar, both care about their indipendence and they both can't keep their mouth shut when someone is bothering them/doing smth they don't approve. they're good friends and judy is a regular client of daniel and nader's tattoo shop!!

daniel + misty. it was almost unlikely that they could become friends and yet. it happened. they would hang out together while vesper would go out with jackie and he would get sooo bored to stay all alone at home. daniel's first reaction when talking with misty was "she weird. a lot" which didn't stop him from talking with her tho. daniel is the kind of person that is attracted to everything he finds 'weird' or unsual, it's his curiosity probably. he doesn't believe in all the aura and spirit things misty usually talks about but he lets her talk anyway, he likes to listen to her talk so when he needs to relax he goes to misty. daniel lets her read tarots to him or do some 'aura cleansing' stuff while he paints her nails or she does the same to him. daniel is like a little brother to misty and she truly needed the company after jackie died, plus they both have such a sweet heart and know so much kindness that they would offer to each other and i love that for them

Riley and Johnny are two very similar people and as a result the pair of them bash heads like a pair of red-painted bulls. Both ridiculously stubborn, both insanely bitter at the world for different reasons, both containing soft hearts beneath hard shells that they're terrified of showing. I think I could include a lot of conversations these two've had but I'm going to go with their conversation after Hanako's kidnapping, where Riley really gets a taste of what Mikoshi actually is and why Johnny's so determined to tear it down (the second tapeworm conversation, basically). By this point the pair of them are mostly on good terms with each other but Mikoshi is really only something V has heard about in passing. She doesn't have a strong grasp of coding and netrunning so hearing Johnny describe what Mikoshi was like for him frames him in a new light for her. Johnny and Riley both have their own fair share of traumas but Riley never stopped to wonder if his were ever more than physical. And more maybe the first time since she's known him, she sees him openly distressed. He tries to hide it, because of course he does, but she knows what he's really trying to say.

Her hearing him say "...and that's why I'm going to fix it" absolutely sticks in her memory, too. Not only is it the first time Johnny's admitted to wanting to save her life, but it's also the moment that she realizes she actually believes him. Even after all of the horrible shit he's done, both to her and everyone else he's ever known, for the first time she feels like she wants to help him too. They were already partners before this, but this is the real moment that they actually become friends.

🍙  - Goro Takemura

Riley and Goro........do not see eye to eye lol. Their partnership is one of necessity only, and while neither of them will ever say the unspoken out loud, they're both pretty aware of the the other's stance. Goro knows Riley has no love of corpo-types like him and doesn't bother trying to reason with her, while Riley knows Goro would be more than willing to stab her in the back and go running back to Arasaka the first chance he got. As a result, their core moment with each other is when she and him split takeout on the top of the construction site before nightfall. When they talk about their pasts, it's with an air of bitterness, because they each know the other is judging harshly on lives they'll never really understand. Riley views Goro as what she could've become if she was a corpo-type-- her rule-following nature and ruthlessness would've translated perfectly into an agent, something she's been told and has not taken very well-- and her antagonism during the conversation stems from being disgusted with Goro's apparent willingness to throw himself back under Arasaka's bootheel. Goro views Riley as a defector from decadence, someone who turned her nose up at a frankly very comfortable lifestyle to become a streetrat without morals and now has the fucking gall to judge his life choices. They end the argument very bitterly, both realizing that despite helping each other time and time again, they're both on paths the other can't follow.

This moment is less of a "what could be" and more a lament of "what could've been", since Riley and Goro are far too rooted in their own lives and choices to ever truly trust each other. At this point, she only agrees to see the parade through because hey, in for an enny, in for a goddamn pound. But the pair of them never reconcile after this moment.

It's a question he asks himself a lot.

So much of his life is for display purposes only, he wonders if the people in it are just there to help him accessorize.

He can't pretend he doesn't favor the ones who find him dazzling. The people outside of the tournament -- at his father's company, in his modeling career, on the internet -- who look at him with stars in their eyes.

But the fact was, despite Benimaru being very social, and close to many people, he wasn't sure he could say many were close to him. Not for lack of trying, necessarily, but...There weren't many he allowed behind the curtain. Of the rare few who managed to get in, he can't be sure how many actually wanted to be there, or if they just ended up there, due to some shared miserable circumstance. And, if he only valued the people who made him feel like a god, why would he fight so hard for Shingo, just to be enthusiastically passed over whenever a Kusanagi was nearby?

Why would he care so much about Shun'ei and Meitenkun, who he's still sure would've rather been on Kyo's team?

Why would he pursue women like Chizuru, or Leona? Women who clearly had bigger things to think about than sweet talk and starlight. Women to whom, even in an idealized scenario, he'd always be secondary at best?

Why on Earth would he be friends with Goro and Kyo? Goro never fed into his ego, and Kyo could hardly compliment anyone without sarcasm. His best friends barely liked him. Loved him, of course, that he couldn't deny. But they only barely liked him.

Did that mean his care was genuine? Did their disinterest just motivate him to work until was favored? Did he like them because they didn't care as much, and that made them harder to disappoint?

All things he'd never dare ask out loud. God forbid he show doubt, or fear, or uncertainty...unless he was bleeding out in some 11th hour hail mary with five other, equally uncertain people and the obligatory undead deity and none of them would ever talk about it again.

And, if showing up for a fight like that over and over again didn't mean he cared, about something, he wasn't sure what he could ever do to prove the instinct existed in him.

V's Compassion

So, happy new year but honestly I don't find anything happy about it. Considering the shit going on in the world/has been going on for years. Genocides, oppression, senseless death. Sounds like a colonizers wet dream. I can't sleep so I decided to share my thoughts.

V's only "option" for the end of the game "canonically" is getting help from Arasaka(excluding the suicide ending). V can strictly focus on their path, ie looking for Evelyn and Hellman, finishing the quests with Goro relatively fast(shoutout to the ppl that rushed thru the game) and that's that. Their time is running out hell they don't even have to save Takemura's life given that Johnny kinda says "there's no way to help him" so V waits patiently for Judgement Day. Looking back on it V is completely alone aside from Johnny being there(at the motel with the shotty).

V is told to meet with Hanako and decide their fate. Which is so jarring. V can have up to three options(4 including the secret ending?) but instead is left with only one. Now if the player never reaches out to other characters or rushes thru the game/V only looking out for themselves, V would've never received the love and compassion from other characters in the story.

It's so interesting V was mostly just a "small time merc" that's it but when playing side characters quests it shows how many ppl V influences and fights for. If V never had any sort of compassion at all none of this could've been possible none of those bonds could've been formed. Friendship or love all of it could've been lost if V hadn't cared for others. V became a beacon of hope of light for so many ppl's stories.

And yes they would've gotten the "cure" or "help" from Arasaka and u can even be mean asf to Johnny and never care for him but in the Arasaka ending V will still feel a hole in their soul. V would've still been left empty. Left ppl behind, making only room for themselves V is left with the consequences of their actions being half a person. Being empty losing their sense of self(literally?)

Even with ur life ticking down, breath leaving ur lungs, always have something to fight for. For ur life for others for love for passion. Find something to care about and never let go until it's time.

V didn't have to care about Judy after Evelyn's suicide, or Jackie dying, or even helping Johnny fix shit with Rogue. BUT THEY DID B/C V CARED. V was basically killing themselves when they even let Johnny take over their body in the first place. But true V would do it without skipping a beat b/c of their care.

Even the little friends V had after siding with Arasaka was looking at them sideways cause why in the fuck would V ask for Arasaka's help lol. Misty is hurt and then just leaves NC. Viktor is the only "friend" left and considering the endings voicemails V only gets voicemails from ppl wanting work from them. Really having V dumbed down to truly "another merc"

[ edit: If V betrays Songbird in the PL dlc and gets the ulty cure, V is put in the same situation except they betrayed a friend that had zero options/zero help. And doing so, V is left again with their two friends Viktor and Misty except Misty is actually happy to see V. So many parallels in this game I love it so much ]

Which, thinking about it now Night City's compassion is so rare to come by so how did we find it in V? Just thinking out loud lol. Never stop fighting and never stop being urself. Truly what V and Johnny really showed me. AND FUCKING CARE ABOUT PPL CARE ABOUT SOMETHING HAVE SOME FUCKING PASSION FOR ANYTHING. Also im scared Night City is slowly becoming a reality, please find some fucking compassion it'll save us. But yeah I truly love V's compassion for one it's so rare to find and I feel like it's the type of shit ppl don't think twice about. Like ur my "friend but u do so much without even looking for help in return"

Also correct me if I'm wrong but I have a theory that Arasaka could've removed 100% of the engram but decided not too cause if they did, V wouldn't be able to carry out their merc life duties.. but idk I just started thinking about it.
