Sixth Year AU: The Romantic Day of the Raven and the She-Wolf
Summary: Hakon wasn’t much for emotions and wasn’t too understanding of his own but when a certain werewolf ask him out on a date, how could he say “no?”
Word Count: 4, 927
The day started like any other for Hakon, like any regular student taking care of basic hygiene needs. Breakfast. Classes. You name it.
His day progressed into something more out of his norm. He recently had an incident where his condition got the best, and he ended up with three works of detention. During that incident, something happened that shook him to the core. His only other best friend, second to Rowan, had kissed him. Chiara Lobosca kisses him.
It wasn't something familiar for Hakon to receive from, well, anyone. Physical displays of emotion weren't standard in a romantic sense. Was it romantic, though?
Hakon didn't dislike Chiara at all. He cared for her deeply as he does for anyone he feels close to. Sure there were moments he would steal glazes at the hospital wing or in class when he wasn't focusing, which was too often as he nearly set a potion ablaze in Snape's class the day before. That never happens. Never.
At the moment, Ravenclaw resident vampire halfbreed was pacing back and forth as he was trying to come to terms with how these past few days have been with the help of some of his guy friends.
"So why are we here again?" Talbott asked, visibly annoyed by Hakon's loud steps. "Odinson, you're going to tear a hole into the ground if you don't slow it down."
"It's useless when he gets like that, and honestly, it's pretty sad," Andre commented as he and Charlie were tossing jelly beans to each other but failing.
"I don't see the harm. I mean, Chiara is a cool girl. She likes dark and broody cloud of sadness." It was Charlie's turn to take a jab at his mate.
Hakon turns to his friends as they visibly gulped as his left eye twitch and his nostrils flared up. "Come again, Weasely?"
"What I mean is that a girl. A girl! Fancies you and you two are so close it would be dumb if you didn't move. And soon," Charlie held his hands up in a mock surrender fashion.
Hakon was always a good friend to Charlie, but sometimes when Hakon was emotional, he was brash, but he knew it was something new for his friend. It was the first time a girl really showed interest in him. So if any of the other guys were in the same boat, they would be having a freak out of some level like him.
Hakon sighed as he ran his hand through his raven locks. A nervous tick.
"Guys, I don't know what to do. This isn't as easy as the vaults or searching for my sister. Or trying to read one of Rowan's many book recommendations."
"Hey!" Rowan said as he acted in mock offense only to be met with a smirk from his best friend.
"Well, why not ask yourself the big question. Do you like Chiara more than a friend?" Talbott decided it was best to throw the grenade of a question because he'd rather be doing anything else.
Not that he wasn't up for helping his friend, but they have been going on for over two hours dealing with Hakon's freak out before speaking.
"You two spend a lot of time together in and out of classes. Hospital wing. I think we've all gotten butterbeer so often, and she took Rowan's spot next to you, mate." Charlie tried stifling a laugh seeing the pout on Rowan's face.
"Penny told me to let her have it, and she'd explain later. Clearly, this is why."
"No kidding," Andre added on, "I mean, how many times has Hakon carried her on his back from our weekends?"
At that, Hakon couldn't help but blush at his friend's in-depth analysis of the situation between Chiara and himself. The two were almost inseparable since their third year. They were each other's comfort when they felt lonely, and they even shared their deepest secrets that not even their friends know at all.
"I..." Hakon struggled to form the words. "I do like her. A lot."
"Finally!" All four boys shouted.
"Now what?" Hakon asked his friends, who all now looked dumbfounded.
"You go and tell her how you feel!" Andre shouted, causing Hakon to flinch.
"Absolutely not!" Hakon shook his head to the side.
"For the love-"
"Wait! Why not have Hakon ask her out? A date!"
"Rowan, you're brilliant!" Charlie complimented his friend patting his shoulder.
"Great, good luck." Talbott was about to walk away from them but was grabbed by his cloak, courtesy of Andre. "Andre, let go."
"Not happening until we solve this. Hakon asks Chiara out. We'll even help plan the date and make sure she can't keep her eyes off you."
"Guys, I was more content taking this to the grave."
"Hell no! You're going to ask her out, and that's that!" Andre said as he gripped Hakon's shoulders after letting go, Talbott.
"I have no choice, do I?"
"Not after you wasted two hours of our lives, no. You don't."
With that, the boys began planning how Hakon would ask his girl best friend out. Elsewhere, a similar conversation was happening with said girl that was the topic of the boys.
"So let me get this straight. Hakon, our resident moody curse breaker, and you kissed because he was having an adamant time with a medical condition? One we don't know about, but you do?" Merula asked.
"In short summary, yeah," Chiara said as she twisted a lock of her hair. She had been grilled by her friends for the better part of an hour. Merula has been doing most of the grilling since Chiara, and she became close one day during astronomy and were, for the most part, good friends. However, Merula was Hakon's friend as well, even though they still fought but not as bloody as years prior.
"Yeah, you need to ask him out," Merula said as she pointed a delicate manicure finger at Chiara. "Because of the tension with you and Odinson is disgusting. I feel the tension ooze off you two, and it's just insanity. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you would want to"
"Okay! Let's slow down before even visiting that idea!" Tonks interjected, getting a thankful smile from her housemate.
"Though you could always just make him love you with a love potion." Tulip joked.
"No, remember how he hounded Ismelda about that? I mean, he was terrifying. So that's definitely out of the question." Tonks flopped down on the desk they were having their meeting.
"I agree with Merula on this. Chiara should ask him out. Hakon may be reserved with his emotion, but that's probably why he's so easy to listen to since he tries to use logic." Penny tapped her chin as the figurative gears began turning in her head. "So use that to explain it to him."
Chiara pondered on her fellow Hufflepuffs words. All of them had her best interest at heart and really were trying to help her out. This wasn't a simple matter; she could cast a spell or drink a potion to make those feelings go away. And she didn't want them to. To her, Hakon was more than some friend. He has been there for her than most of their friends.
It wasn't that they didn't care, and she understood that, but with Hakon, the moment she was in some trouble or was having a rough day, he'd drop whatever he's doing to help her. It made her feel... special. Important, even.
"Okay, um, I'll ask him out," Chiara said. She looked at her friends with a mix of determination and nervousness. To which all the girls (except Merula) cheered in delight.
"How are you going to do it?" Penny prompted.
"I was thinking maybe a letter, and he could meet me at the clock tower?"
"Why not the astronomy tower?" Tonks suggested as she knew Hakon had something about stargazing. During an assignment, he had given her an easy idea on how to figure constellation out by using her transforming abilities and applying them to her eyes to depict details. It worked but hurt her eyes, so she just chose the old fashion way and begged for help from him. He begrudgingly did even though Tonks was a pain, and their friendship was real and robust like the many bonds he has despite his moodiness.
"Great!" Chiara cheered. "Now I gotta write that letter! Thanks, girls!" Chiara left her friends with a pep in her step and new vigor to court her best friend. This was going to end up good or in disaster.
"So, the boys should have gotten Hakon convinced by now?" Tulip whispered to Tonks.
"Yep, they should be wrapping it up."
During the afternoon, Chiara had sent an owl to Hakon, telling him to meet her at the astronomy tower within the hour. For Chiara, the moment of truth would be decided soon for her. Hopefully, fate would bless her...
Click!
The doorknob's sound turning and being pushed open woke Chiara from her daydream, standing at the threshold was Hakon. The two briefly locked eyes. Hakon entered the room and smiled at her, which made Chiara speed up just a little faster.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"I got your letter. You needed to talk about something?"
"Yeah, I did." Chiara brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear as her eyes glanced at Hakon then away again.
"That's good because there's something I wanted to talk to you about too."
"Really?" Chiara asked.
"Yeah, and it's important. But it can wait until after you tell me what you wanted to talk about."
"No, it can wait." Chiara started to panic inter, causing Hakon to panic.
"No, no, you called me here! Only fair, I hear what you say, Chiara."
"No, no-no. Hakon, I insist!"
"No, Chiara, I insist!"
The two went back and said who should speak first for a few moments before they broke into a fit of giggles.
"Should we say it at the same time?" Chiara tried to calm her laughter as did Hakon, only succeeding barely.
"I think that would work." Hakon nodded to his friend's suggestion as he felt a lump in his throat building. Now or never.
One...
Two...
Three!
"Will you go on a date with me?!" The Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff shouted to each other.
Then next came the silence...
"What?" Hakon muttered, a visible blush taking over his face. His mouth moved, but he couldn't utter anything. "She was planning to ask me out? She called me here to ask me out?!"
"I... you wanted to ask me out?" Chiara asked.
Hakon didn't trust his voice at the moment, so he nodded in response.
"This... this went better than I expected", Chiara said aloud, only realizing she spoke her mind. "Sorry, it's just that I..."
"You're nervous whether I was going to say "no," weren't you?" Hakon asked, to which Chiara nodded. "Honestly, I was scared you'd say no too. I've been on edge all day because I wanted to ask you, and I couldn't get the guts to ask sooner."
"Hakon..."
"Chiara, you mean a lot to me. When I first met you, I could tell you were beautiful and not simply in looks alone. But in your heart."
Chiara clutched her chest as a blush began to rise again.
"When I'm around you, I can't think straight, and my heart is constantly beating loudly in my ears. And when I'm away from you... I feel alone..." Hakon rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly looking at the ground. He turned his silver and red eyes up when he felt Chiara's hand on his cheek with a small smile dawning on her face. She really was as beautiful as the sunrise.
"You mean a lot to me to Hakon. You make me feel alive and that I can just be myself. Hakon, you saved me from being alone for god knows how long it makes me happy. I'm not afraid of myself when I'm with you."
"Neither do I."
Hakon pulled Chiara into his arms in a comforting embrace. Chiara rested her head against his chest and slowly picked up on the rhythm of his fast-beating heart that mirrored her own at the moment. As they stayed in silent comfort, Chiara broke it, who just remembered the reason she called him here.
"So the date?"
"Oh! Right, the date. Would Saturday work?"
"Yeah, Saturday sounds brilliant." Chiara smiles at him, more enthusiastic, and placing a quick peck on his cheek. "See you then!"
With that, Chiara slipped out of Hakon's arms and left a blushing but grinning vampire to be lost in the brief moment.
"She said yes. Oh shit, she said! I need to start planning!" Hakon jumped off the astronomy tower, turning into his raven form, and flew off.
He needed to plan, and he definitely needed help with choosing an outfit. Andre better helps after Hakon helped him with his flying the other day and giving him that limited edition hoodie from Pride of Portree for Andre's birthday. Plus, the other guys would help him plan, or he'd be a freaking mess. Just outside the astronomy tower, though, stood Chiara and the girls who were involved.
"Well?" Merula asked. "Out with it."
"He said yes, and he was planning to ask me out too!" Chiara cheered, showing more excitement than she usually allowed herself to.
"Awwww!" Penny squealed at the news. "So Hakon really wanted to ask you out? That's so cute!"
"Wait, Hakon was going to ask? Oh, I'm so going to tease him about it." Tonks said as she was about to run off but was grabbed by her collar by Tulip.
"As much as I would love to tease him too, we don't want to ruin this them, Tonks. Plus, I'm sure Hakon is freaking out planning what they'll do, and he's definitely going to try hard to make this special."
Tulip knew her friend really tried when it was something important but was slightly lazy if it wasn't. This, though with no doubt probably the essential thing in his life to date.
"I still can't believe I'm going on a date. Oh, no."
"What is it?" Tonks asked.
"What am I going to wear?!"
All the girls looked to each other then back to Chiara then back to each Other, blinking a few times.
"WE GOTTA YOU TO ANDRE! NOW!" all the girls said as they grabbed Chiara by her robes and comically pulled her through the castle to find the style wizard.
As the week progressed, the excitement between the two lovebirds could be seen in their unique ways. Waving at each other during meals and sending random notes in classes (that were not Snapes) only got the two more and more excited for the coming event. Hakon though, did receive teasing from Jae and Andre; seeing their friend so happy was good, but it was also fun to see him get flustered like most do when they fall in love.
Finally, Saturday...
"Okay, how do I look?" Chiara asked the girls, who all gave a thumbs up.
"You go and have fun!" Penny said, getting a nod from Chiara. Waving goodbye, Chiara made her way to the school's gate, where Hakon said they met.
As Chiara made her way over, she spots than young man she'd spend the day with.
"Hakon!" Chiara called, getting the boy to look toward her with a small smile.
"Hey, Chiara." Hakon greeted her. "Wow, you look just... wow."
Chiara was dressed in a medium-length jean skirt that just came above her knees with a stocking covering legs covering the rest of her legs until they met the covering of brown leather boots with a silver buckle right at the ankle. She wore a white long-sleeved shirt with a light brown leather jacket that came no higher than her chest, a purple and black flannel around her waist with her necklace pulling the outfit together. It was so her.
"Thank you. You look wow too." Chiara brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear, gaze at Hakon with a small smile on her lips, and light blush on her cheeks.
Hakon wore light blue faded jeans with subtle rips, a black leather belt with a raven buckle, and a black converse pair. Up top, he sported a white v neck and light gray button-up with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, and a charcoal cargo jacket stored under his arm. Around his neck was a leather necklace with three rings of gold, silver, and bronze, and on his hands, he had a similar set of rings like Barnaby. Andre got the idea when noticing Hakon never wore jewelry. Ever.
"So, shall we?" Chiara asked after she snapped out from gawking at her date.
"We shall," Hakon said as he offered her his hand with a slight blush. Chiara took it, feeling her blushing rising even more as the two began making their way off the school grounds.
The two made idle talk to Hogsmeade where they'd start their date.
"So, what do you have planned?" Chiara asked as she looked up to Hakon.
"I can't always give you answers because where the fun would, that be?" Hakon gave Chiara a cheeky grin, to which she responded with a pout causing him to chuckle at the cute display.
"You're such a pain sometimes."
"All in good fun."
"That's true." Chiara squeezed his hand, reassuring him of their mutual excitement. The two made their way into Hogsmeade and had gone into the Three Broomsticks; Hakon held the door open for Chiara like any gentleman should for any woman. The two grabbed a seat at a table by a corner. The two of them ordered some butterbeer and sat in slightly awkward silence for a few moments. Both tried breaking it, though.
"So I... oh, no! You go first. No, you! I insist!" both stopped and snickered at the exchange of trying to keep the ball rolling.
"You go, Chiara. My turn can wait."
"Um, okay," Chiara said as she held her glass and glancing at it and him. "How long have you, know, fancied me?"
"Going straight for the jugular?" Hakon cocked a brow. "If you want me to be honest, for a long time, but I never really realized how I felt until one day during charms. Charlie and Jae work talking about how I've been distracted. Remember when we went rock climbing?"
"Yes?" Chiara said as if it were yesterday. During their fourth year, Hakon, with a few others, went to do some rock climbing. After that rock climbing trip, the group of friends had a bonfire, and many were tired. Chiara had fallen asleep on Hakon's shoulder, where he wrapped a blanket between the two."
"That night, when we were at the bonfire, I realized you were important to me even if our friendship wasn't so more than a year old. However, I didn't start wrestling with my feelings until later on. Well, until recent events." Hakon looked at his glass, thinking of the fond memory they shared.
"Hakon..." Chiara smiled as she reached across the table and took hold of his hand, causing Hakon to face her with a smile. The sparkle in his silver and red eyes truly made Chiara's heart race as the blue of hers made him do the same.
"Shall we get going? We still have many things to do if we wanna make it count." Hakon gave the cheeky grin he was infamous for only to get a light eye roll from Chiara, giving a small laugh. Placing a few galleons on the table, the two left the Broomsticks and started weaving in and out of the shops, getting sweets at Honeydukes. Zonko's where they had some hiccoughing sweets (big regret with laughs). They were testing Gladrags Wizardwear, where Chiara dressed Hakon in old fashion wizard hats, getting laughs from him and her as well.
The two wandered the streets of Hogsmeade, enjoying their time.
"This has been loads of fun," Chiara said as she entwined her hand with Hakon, who took hers happily.
"It has. There are two places I've got left to take you. How's your dancing?"
"Dancing?" Chiara questioned. "I'm not too good, but I can at least follow the music's rhythm."
"That's all I needed to know." Hakon pulled Chiara close by her waist, causing a deeper blush to come to her face as the two apparated to Diagon Alley.
"Why are we here?"
"Simple, I'm taking you to one of the best places I know." Hakon walked with Chiara with his arm around her waist, not realizing it was still there.
As he leads them to the particular spot, he had been vague about Hakon cut into a dark alley where a violet neon sign that read "Shadow Notes."
"What is this place?"
"It's a jazz club I come to every once in a while."
The couple entered the club as their ears are hit with the smooth allure of a saxophone, strumming of a guitar, and a woman singing. The smell of alcohol and flowers hung and really kept the place in a relaxed manner. The floors were polished, mahogany wood, tables, and booths scattered the area with a similar design. Candles on each table, a chandelier hung over the certain of the room, and right under it was a dance space of obsidian and marble. Patrons were drinking, dancing, eating, and overall having a good time.
"Are we allowed in here?" Chiara questioned Hakon with a worried look to receive a confident and reassuring smile.
The two walked to a table by the dance floor, Hakon pulling the Chiara out for her and pushed her seat in, then took a chair of his own across from her.
"Welcome to Shadow Notes. Oh, Hakon, how is my favorite customer?" An older man in a butler-like outfit with an apron and a notepad in hand.
"Hi, Mister Willow." Hakon greeted the older man.
"See you brought a friend. A bit of beauty, isn't she?"
"Mister Willow!" Hakon groaned. "This Chiara. She's my date!"
"Oh, you're finally growing up." Mister Willow laughed. "It's a pleasure to meet Chiara. Please keep this boy out of trouble, will you?"
"Of course!" Chiara laughed as Hakon pouted.
"I don't get in that much trouble," Hakon muttered.
"What will you be having?"
"Oh, I don't drink-"
"Two Silver Hurricanes, virgin. Two of Shepard's pies." Hakon quickly shot the order out as the older man wrote the order then walked off. Chiara raised a delicate brow to Hakon, who gave her a brief grin. "Trust me. It'll be worth it and while we wait, let's get on the floor."
"Hakon, I'm not that good-"
"It'll be fun." Hakon gave a soft smile that reassured her. He really was going the nine yards to make this date worth it.
Getting up from their chairs, Hakon placed his jacket on the back of his chair, and Chiara followed his example. Taking her hand, the vampire leads the werewolf maiden to the dance floor, and the two began to dance to slow jazz music until it slowly picked up. With the grace of an expert, Hakon spun Chiara, who struggled to keep up but was slowly catching on to her partner's movements' rhythm. They dance, not caring how sloppy they looked but dance with the heart of those just having a good time. Spinning, dipping, and swaying like nothing in the world mattered to them. It was Chiara and Hakon. As the song ended, Hakon pulled Chiara in his arms as she placed her hands to his chest. The two laughing and panting until they notice a few whistles from the patrons of the club. The pair blushed and walked back to their table, where Mister Willow was walking up with their food and drinks in hand.
"You two seem to be having fun." Mister Willow said as he placed down the food and drinks. "Enjoy you two."
"Thanks, Mister Willow," Hakon said as Willow walked off to his other duties.
"I didn't realize you danced so well, Hakon."
"I'm not the best, but I like dancing to jazz," Hakon rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly while looking away.
"Oh my god, this smells amazing!" Chiara took a deep sniff of the food in front of her.
"Wait till you taste it but first," Hakon grabbed the glass of his drink, "a toast. To you."
"What for?" Chiara blushes, covering her face while peaking through her fingers.
"For being in my life." Hakon gave her one of his rare genuine smiles and raised his glass to her.
Chiara grabbed her glass and lightly clanked it against his.
The two took a sip of the drink, and to Chiara's surprise, it was delicious and filled with a subtle fruity taste despite the lack of color. It was a concoction of lemon-lime soda, green grapes, oranges, and raspberries? Its flavor wasn't too strong, but it definitely left the tastebuds wanting more. Then came Shepard's pie, the meat, spices, potatoes, veggies, and gravy blew up in an explosion of fantastic flavors. Hakon sure knew how to pick a place and definitely knew how to make a girl feel special. How long did he plan this?
The two ate, talked, and danced a few more times before it started too late. Hakon apparated then back to Hogsmeade, and the couple made their way back to Hogwarts on foot. Despite their feet being tired, the walk wasn't all so bad as it meant more time together. The time they knew that was about to end soon. As they made their way through the school grounds, Hakon guided Chiara to the courtyard for his evening's final plan.
"Today was so much fun!" Chiara smiled at Hakon, who sported his smile as well.
"Me too, Chiara. I'm happy we went out. I don't think I've had such fun in... in a long time."
"Do... do you think we can do this again?"
"I'd hope so. This was a lot of fun, and I'd hate to think this is... that this one a one-time thing."
"It wouldn't be. I, for one, wouldn't want it to be."
"Neither would I." Hakon cupped her chin in his fingers. "Chiara, can you close your eyes?"
Blushing, Chiara did as she asked and waited for what Hakon had planned next. She felt something cold and metallic clasp her right middle finger. It was smooth and light.
"You can open them now."
Oh, she hoped she had was briefly shattered until she looked at her hand to see a silver ring and blue gemstone in the center of it. "What's this? Wait, we saw this at Gladrags! When did you buy this?"
"Oh, I slipped away when you were looking at some shirts. Saw how you were looking at it and thought it would look good on you. Honestly, I'm surprised it fit, but I'm glad nonetheless."
"Hakon..." Chiara looked at the beautiful ring then looked up to him with tears streaming down her face and smile. At that moment, Chiara threw herself into Hakon's arms and kisses him shocking him briefly, but he soon started to return the gesture of affection.
The two broke away from the touching of lips and held each other in a loving embrace. This was their moment, a moment leading to something that will probably last a long time.
"So... are we, you know?" Hakon stuttered.
"Yes," Chiara giggled at the shyness he was displaying. "We are something together, boyfriend."
"Girlfriend." Hakon smiled as he lifts Chiara's head for another kiss, but they were sadly interrupted by a loud thump.
"Ow!"
"Tonks?!" Chiara squealed.
"Oh, hey, guys! Sorry I was just um..."
"Tell. Them. To. Come. Out. Now." Hakon spoke in a cold tone that caused Tonks to shiver.
"Guys! We were caught red-handed! We got a Code: Pissed H!"
At that remark, everyone climbed from their respective hiding spots. Tulip, Penny, Merula, Andre, Talbott, Jae, Barnaby, Badeea, Liz, Ben, and Rowan. All of whom waved nervously at the now established couple.
"How long were you following?" Chiara acted surprised, but she knew they were following them throughout Hogsmeade until Hakon and her left to Diagon Alley.
"Until Hakon apparated. After that, we kinda waited around." Penny said as she twiddled with her fingers.
"Seriously? Guys, this our first date, and you all popping up like this is just-"Hakon was about to give them a severe tongue lashing until Chiara pulled the taller boy down and kissed his cheek.
"Go easy on the scolding, okay?"
"Yeah..." Hakon blushed as some of his friends started whistling and giving cat calls towards Hakon. "Oh, you're so dead." Hakon immediately chased after the boys who ran away like they just kicked a Hungarian Horntail. "Get back here!"
As Hakon chased the boys, the girls walked up to Chiara and asked how the date went to which she gave a recap of the day's events. Each of the girls had their reactions, but all were happy for Chiara and how Hakon made the day something to remember. Chiara laughed as she watched her boyfriend chase their friends who were screaming like madmen.
"Hakon, he's my sunrise, and I'm never let that go." Chiara took another glance at him, seeing him laughing and smiling.
Best. Date. Ever.

Sixth Year AU: Chiara, Stay Back! What do you mean 'no'?
Summary: The day started like any other for Hakon though he was in more grouchy mood than normal. The boy has been holding a secret from many for his time at Hogwarts and one incident exposed it to th world. Though there is comforting hand that reaches out to him, will he take it?
Word Count: 2,683
It was like any day at Hogwarts; birds were singing. Students were going to class. Professor stopping Tonks from throwing some insane prank involving Dennis the toad and Snapes left shoe. Just another wonderful day if you could get past the worries of cursed vaults and evil wizard cabals. Luckily, for Hakon, he was in the hospital wing, helping out with some of the friendly students who were messy. Some idiot (probably Peeves) unleashed a swarm of pixies, and some people ended up falling off their brooms, resulting in some minor broken bones.
"Easy now. Just drink up, and you should be okay," Hakon said as he was helping a Slytherin boy drink down some Skel-o-grow. The Slytherin boy flinched at the taste and would have spat it in Hakon's face if he hadn't held the cup he was using at the right angle.
"Easy friend. I know, it tastes horrible, but it's for your own good."
"How's it going over here?"
Hakon glanced over his shoulder to see Chiara Lobsoca carrying a tray with some medical tools for Madam Pomfrey; a small smile crept onto his face. The two of them became friends during their third year at Hogwarts when Hakon discovered she was a werewolf. He wasn't one to give secrets as he harbored a few of his own and wasn't keen on sharing like say Rita Skeeter's paparazzi half-assed stories. Especially with how hard Chiara worked to keep that secret from coming out but after that event, the two were almost inseparable like he was with Rowan.
"Going," Hakon responded as he made sure the split on his patient leg was still secure. "Those pixies aren't a joke, especially when they cause that much mayhem. Who's bright idea was that?"
"I don't know. Merula Snyde?" Chiara said jokingly.
Hakon couldn't help but chuckle at that assumption. "On her own house? Yeah, that'll be the day, but she isn't so bad as we think."
That comment got Chiara to pout temporarily. "Since when was he friendly with Snyde? Must be the thing with Professor Rakepick's apprenticeship?" Chiara pushed those thoughts down as she refocused on her friend.
Chiara had to admit that Hakon's bedside manner and patience with those injured was something to respect. It was one of the many things she admires about her friend who was bouncing between patients and asking Madam Pomfrey for any additional task. What can you ask from the son of a healer, right? She wasn't going to lose to him, though, when it came to helping with the patients.
For the next two hours, the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff healer duo were cleaning wounds, giving remedies, and little words of encouragement. While handling another patient who came in for a scratch from a hippogriff, Chiara caught wind of less of conversation; she wishes she didn't.
"All I'm saying is he doesn't have a girlfriend, and he's cute. What more could I want?" said Gryffindor girl patients of the pixie fiasco.
"I'm not disagreeing, but you see his eyes, though? Silver and red? Isn't that normal?" her friend responded, clearly in need of convincing.
"Oh please! They're unique, and besides," the patient paused as she glanced to Hakon, rerolling his sleeves as not to dirty them, "his arms are something I could see wrapped around me - ouch! Careful!"
"Sorry," Chiara responded halfheartedly. She wasn't much for making mistakes or causing harm, but given the circumstance of seeing her friend as eye candy didn't make her any less angry. Wait, why would she be angry?
Later...
Madam Pomfrey had finally released Chiara so the young witch can enjoy the rest of her day. Partially because Madam Pomfrey loved and hated how competitive she and Mister Odinson got when handling her patients. Hakon left a little before her; she could as he had to handle something in private. It seemed from his behavior he looked kind of sickly or something. He mentioned something about anemia when she saw him like that last.
It was odd that Hakon would have episodes once in a while where he'd get anxious and avoid people. Whatever the case was, it worried Chiara deeply as he was her first real friend in a long time. One whose stubbornness is matched by his will to help and find a solution.
"Well, time to go get some food!" Chiara exclaimed as she stretched her arms. She made her way down a corridor to only see Hakon yelling at some random Gryffindor. There was a broken bottle on the ground with remnants of what seemed to be a potion. Its scent was so strong even Chiara got a slight hit of the intense aroma it gave off. Something about it seemed familiar, maybe one of Snape's lectures? She remembers seeing a bottle similar to the one on Snape workbench from class earlier today.
"Why didn't you watched where you're going?!" Hakon snarled.
"Why do I need to watch where I'm going? Maybe you should watch your way!" the Gryffindor pushed Hakon's shoulder. "Or are you hard of hearing to bird boy?"
That set Hakon off as he pushed the student to a hall picking him up with one arm gritting his teeth as fangs bared themselves slightly. The boy struggled in the tight grip of the Ravenclaw boy, who was snarling at the boy.
"Hakon!" Chiara called, scared at the sight she was seeing. Her friend wasn't acting like himself, and it wasn't right. "Put him down!"
Hakon turned as he bared his fangs only to cover his mouth before dropping the Gryffindor kid who looked at Hakon in sheer terror. "You're a freak! You're a-!" Before the boy could go on, Hakon pulled out his wand casted Obliviate at the boy wiping his memory.
"Hakon did you just?!" Chiara was about to get closer before she saw Hakon runoff.
"Hakon! Wait!" Chiara called as she chased after him.
She was hot on his trail, passing other students, and professors who were onlookers watched the two students running. Chiara had to shove two students out of the way as she followed him, giving an apology as she glanced back before turning her sights on her friend run. How was he so fast compared to her?
As Chiara cut a corner, she made her way into the clock courtyard. She got a glimpse of Hakon jumping before he transformed into a raven and flew off in the Forbidden Forest direction. Following Hakon's raven form, she made her way to the forest as the sun began to set. His form faded as he flew into the treeline, causing Chiara to lose sight of him. Now she had to really work hard to search for Hakon.
Once in the forest, Chiara scoured the haunting woods, trying to find any signs of where was Hakon or had been. The forest was much more intimidating when she wasn't a werewolf, but she couldn't leave him alone. He was her friend, and he has some explaining to do.
"Where are you." Chiara wondered as she glanced at her surroundings.
"Bark!"
"Aaaah!" Chiara jumped and looked down to see Borf. "Borf! Don't scare me like that!"
"Bark!" the young werewolf whined at being reprimanded by his friend. He then looked up to Chiara, confused.
"Sorry, I'm looking for Hakon," Chiara said as she knelt down, petting the pup. "See, he did something. He almost hurt someone, and I'm scared he might get hurt being out here alone."
"Bark!"
"Yeah, I know I came out here alone." Sighing, Chiara looked to the sky, seeing night had finally covered the sky in a dark veil. "I need to hurry. Borf?"
"Bark?"
"Can you help me find Hakon?" Borf ran around in circles before sitting and nodding at Chiara's request, causing her to smile. The two continued on the search to find the missing Ravenclaw healer.
An hour later...
"I can't believe I did that! What was I thinking? Damn it! Why didn't I drink it sooner?" Hakon was scolding himself as he walked in a circle. "Dad would kill me for losing control! Mom would beat me within an inch of my life. Heal me. Then beat me again. Gods," he bit his lip as he covered his face with his pam, "Chiara saw what I did and thinks I'm a psycho who hurts other students!"
It was one thing for Hakon to be irritated when he hasn't subdued his problem, but it was altogether another thing when he loses control. Hakon hasn't had an accident in ages ever since his father taught him how to deal with the hunger that comes from being a "unique being" like they are. In other words, "son, we are freaks that survive on the life source of living creatures but don't worry as long as you drink your medicine, you'll be fine."
"How can I so stupid?!" Hakon growled as he slammed his fist into a defenseless tree, causing a thunderous clap, splitting his knuckles but leaving a large indent. "Damn it!"
Crying, Hakon fell to his knees as he held himself. Wailing in anguish not merely from the disappointment he felt but the anger, the pain of the hunger for blood, causing his insides to feel like they were burning. His head was spinning, his throat felt dry like a desert, and his canines ached horribly.
"At least," Hakon took a shaky breath, "I'm alone. You can't hurt anyone now, Hak-"
"Hakon?" called a familiar voice causing a lump to form in Hakon's throat.
"No!" Hakon thought to himself. "Please, not her!" As he was about to make a run for it, Chiara's blue eyes locked with his silver and red eyes. Concern was filled in her eyes while his eyes were filled with fear.
"Hakon?" Chiara began walking towards him with Borf right next to her.
"Chiara, stay back!" Hakon shouted at her as he tried to back away from the approaching; the panic was evident in his voice.
"No!" Chiara finally found him, and she wasn't going to leave him in one of the worse places with far worse creatures. Worse than her or him.
"What do you mean 'no'?" Hakon asked.
"I mean 'no'! I am not leaving you out here. Hakon, please! Tell me what's wrong?"
"I... I can't..."
"Why, no? You're my friend, right? Friends tell each other their worries to help the other." Chiara pleaded as she made her way to him. Slowly as not to scare him off and go searching for him deeper in the forest. "Hakon, why did you attack that student? What was in that bottle? What are you hiding from me?!"
"It's complicated!"
"Then make it less complicated! Tell me!"
"You'll think I'm a monster!"
"You're not making sense! I don't understand why you think I would see you as a monster!"
"Because..."
"Because, why?"
"Because I'm a goddamn vampire, Chiara!" Hakon snapped as tears streaked his face. Finally, after two years of being friends, his biggest secret was out in his friend's open.
"So what?"
"Huh?"
Chiara was now standing in front of him, placing her hand onto his cheek while giving him a gentle smile while a teardrop fell along her cheek. "If anyone knows what it's like to see themselves as a monster, it's me."
"But you were made into one. I was born one Chiara." Hakon tried to argue his self-disgust.
"So? It doesn't matter because I know that you're more than that. You see me for me and not the beast within me. You see, Chiara."
"I..."
"That bottle, it was Sanguine?" Chiara asked to receive a nod in confirmation. "I guess that was your last dosage."
"Yeah." Hakon looked at the witch before him. "Chiara really is someone special as she is beautiful, wait no. Bad Hakon!"
"Well, we only have one option left for you." Chiara took a step back as she removed her cloak, followed by losing her tie and unbuttoning her shirt's top two buttons.
"Chiara! What the hell are you doing?!" Hakon asked as he turned his head away, feeling his heartbeat rise and his face grow warm.
"If you don't feed, you might hurt someone. So I'm offering myself - I mean my blood to help you!" Chiara felt her face burning with a blush.
"Chiara, I can't!"
"Yes, you can. I'm literally willing to spill my blood for you. To help you," Chiara turned Hakon's face to look at her, "please don't push me away, Hakon. Let me help you."
"It's just giving blood is um an intimate act, and you can't do it with just anyone."
"Hakon, it's okay if it's you. So please, just do it. It's embarrassing being like this. So hurry up!" Chiara didn't know what has gotten into her, but she wants to help him even if it means she has to something he sees as "intimate." Then again, she wasn't against the idea as long as it was him. Her friend. Her closest friend who she...
Hakon gulped as he took Chiara into his shaking arms, one on her waist and the other on her cheek. As he felt his pulse banging in his ears, the urges slowly began to rise as he leaned into the croak of his friend's neck. The tingle of his hot breath grazed her, causing her to shiver only made it all nervewracking. It was only worse by the primal want, the beastily need for what he needed to survive.
"Hakon..."
Without warning, Hakon bared his fangs as he sank them into Chiara's flesh and feeling the taste of fresh blood slowly coating his tongue. Chiara let out what could only be described as a moan and yelp somehow twisted together. The taste of iron was so sweet, unlike anything to Hakon but what made it all the more everlasting was the taste that came from Chiara's blood. There was an almost citrus-like taste to it that was addicting. He drank and drank, feeling his urge calm itself, being soothed into a slumber.
"Hakon," Chiara groaned as she gripped his cloak. "It's okay."
Her voice. Her taste. It comforted him until he slowly prided his fangs away, panting himself.
"Chiara?" Hakon looked to Chiara with a blood-coated mouth and worried worn on his face.
"I'm okay," Chiara leaned into his chest as she didn't trust her legs to hold her up. "I promise."
"I'm sorry," Hakon pulled his wand out from his pocket as he began to cast a spell.
"Don't erase my memories," Chiara said as she glanced up at him.
"I won't. Episkey," Hakon said as he healed Chiara's puncture wound from where he bit her. To anyone else, the vampire bite would appear to be a hickey. "Chiara, I'm sorry."
"For what?"
The two stood in a temporary silence as Hakon tried to find the words to describe how he hid his vampirism from his closest friend, second to Rowan. It's not something he wanted to hide, but he was scared of sharing it, especially with someone that meant so much to him. But she knew now, and part of him was relieved, but another part scared of the unknown.
"For hiding what I am."
"You had your reasons." Chiara looked up at him with a smile. That damn smile caused his heart to race faster than a snitch.
"Still, you trusted me with your secret, and I should have trusted you with mine." Hakon caressed her cheek as she looked at her, guilt still clearly in his eyes.
"You're an idiot."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, an idiot. Hakon Talon Odinson is an idiot, and I will do anything I can to help him. Whether it be at the hospital wing. Tending to your wounds after your vault missions. Or offering my blood, so you don't hurt anyone. I'll be there for you."
The next thing Chiara did would change the grounds of what their friendship was. She stepped on her tiptoes and kissed the vampire, stunning him.
"You are my sunrise Hakon, don't take that from me."
