pleeeeease just let me rant

so obviously a lot of the hype for hamilton the musical has calmed down. it’s been almost ten years. the original cast has long since moved on, and you won’t find as many posts about it on tumblr, and a LOT less active fan fiction. i understand that it’s been a while. but-

hamilton the musical is a piece of artwork. it took Lin-Manuel Miranda seven years to write. its emotions are relatable, and powerful. ive yet to meet someone who hasn’t cried on watching it’s quiet uptown for the first time. the level of intense talent you need to even begin to attempt to write something like that is just beyond incredible.

“Just get over Hamilton it’s dead”

so the fandom’s less active. so what? it will continue to be beautiful. continue to be hilarious. continue to punch you in the gut. let hamilton the musical live. don’t be ashamed to stay in a fandom that’s been around for a while.

the original cast, and any cast after, has so much talent. Renée Elise Goldsberry rapping and singing in Satisfied has my heart. her delivery of It’s Quiet Uptown makes anyone sob. Daveed Diggs in Guns and Ships? anyone? fastest song on broadway EVER? and don’t even get me STARTED on Pippa Soo, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Okieriete Onoadowan, Leslie Odom Jr, Chris Jackson, Anthony Ramos. And as for Lin-Manuel Miranda, what can i say?

listen to hamilton. love hamilton. sing and rap hamilton. be a nerd about hamilton. let people judge you. it’s their loss. anyone who wants to go a life without understanding these emotions, this power, that Lin-Manuel Miranda squeezed into 2 and a half hours, well, that’s their problem.

be a hamilfan. and don’t let anyone give you shit for it.

Renewed Family Chapter 3: Airport

Jasmine finally got time to come to California a week before Blindspotting filming in LA. She was excited to see the cast. There was a new edition as well who had some parts. His name was Kobe and he was from the bay area. The cast and him went for dinner and dancing. Him and Jasmine had a little fling in the bathroom. Nothing to serious. Jasmine hated to admit it, but after her breakup with Anthony, she stopped worrying about birth control so her hormones were a little all over the place. They didn’t go very far because of that and it was a one time affair. He still texted her a little bit. She was excited to see the girls since they barely saw each other. She was excited to see Anthony, pity her.

The plane landed at LAX. She landed with Nala and went to bagged claim. She saw Anthony and the girls waiting.

“Oh boy” she thought.

Anthony couldn’t help staring at her beauty. She was so sexy to him regardless of relationship status. She had a red athelic romper that hunged her curves perfectly and black sneakers. Her curly hair framed her face.

“Hi girl!” She squealed and ran over to hug them.

“Doggy!” Elena got down to Nala’s level and she licked her feet.

“You guys are pretty!” Jasmine smiled.

“Thank you!” They both replied.

“You are too!” Brianna hugged her.

Nala ran to Anthony.

“Anthony.” Jasmine glared.

Anthony awkwardly pulled Jasmine into a close hug. Jasmine wanted to stay but pulled away.

“Brianna I love your eyeliner! You do that yourself?” Jasmine made conversation.

“Yeah I practice on my sister but I use this NYX one.”

“You’ve gotta practice on me. Is Anthony treating you guys alright? Not stinking up the house!”

“Uh no.” Elena said. “We need groceries soon though.”

“We can do that. Maybe we can make a list at home.”

They waited for the baggage claim to start. Jasmine noticed Elena looked a little uneasy and was covering her ears. Anthony caught on to it, as well.

“Elena are you doing okay?” Jazzy asked.

“I’m sorry I’m not good with loud noises.”

Jasmine frowned.

“Poor thing. Do you want my airpods?”

“If that’s okay.” she replied.

“Of course sweetheart.”

Jasmine pulled her airpods out of pocket and handed them to Elena. She handed Elena her phone and let her pick out music on Spotify.

“Yeah my sister gets sensitive to some noise and sensory stuff.” Brianna said.

“It’s okay hopefully my earbuds help.”

The baggage claim started and Jasmine spotted her bag. She bend over to pick up her luggage and Anthony took it from her.

Jasmine had 3 bags total. Anthony decided to hold all 3 struggling until they made it to the car. Jasmine tried not to laugh. The car ride was mostly quiet. Anthony enjoyed to smell of her perfume. Jasmine was more focused on taking care of the girls.

“Okay so make you guys can make a list of snacks and essentials we need for the grocery store. Also, I was thinking tomorrow we could go shopping for clothes and stuff. I know you guys got off summer break so you might want some new stuff or we can get our nails done. Maybe Anthony will treat us!”

“Yeah that sounds good!” Brianna stated. “I have some gift cards and I think my mom had some and who is going to use those. If that’s okay”

“ If you guys feel comfortable Im sure your mama would want you to have stuff.” Jasmine said. “What gift cards do you have?”

“Um Nike, TJMaxx, Victoria’s Secret, Forever 21.”

Elena added, “I have some too but I have to check the balance. Also, I collect money I find on the floor.”

Anthony laughed. “You’re gonna be a rich bitch someday.”

“Yeah we might need to use the Victoria Secret for Elena because her tetas are growing in like

the weeds she picked out of the ground.” Brianna teased.

Elena looked at her feet embarrassed.

Jasmine changed the subject.

“Okay, okay. We can also go to other places to thrift if you guys are into that.”

“You think we are poor?” Brianna laughed.

“No but it’s eco friendly not poor.” Jasmine rolled her eyes and giggled.

They drove home and they exited the car. Elena returned Jasmine’s devices with a hug.

“Thank you for everything.”

“Oh course baby.”

Everyone went there separate ways. Brianna decided to text her friends. She texted Benito. Brianna had some feeling for him. They had English together and he played basketball. They kissed a few times but they never got in a relationship. He was fairly tall and had dark brown skin and curly black hair.

Brianna felt comfortable with him. He was outgoing and she liked his friends. Brianna didn’t have much friends. She was beautiful and kind, but people took her the wrong way. Brianna wouldn’t consider herself a shy girl, but rather one to stand off. She wasn’t biased but she could easily read people. Most girls thought she “tried to hard” or was a “hot chetto girl”. Her mom reminded her when she would come home crying from school that girls were jealous and to take every rude remark as a compliment. Brianna definitely got her mother’s glamour. Her mom dressed her up as a child and let her experiment as she got older. Benito texted her.

Brianna: hey

Benito: Hey my family is having a party in 2 days did u wanna stop by and dance

Brianna: Ywah i’ll let anthony know

Benito: cool it’s from 4pm to how long we can dance

Brianna: ok cool

Benito: how are you feeling with everything

Brianna: i’m being strong for my little sister i can’t let her see me cry bc i’m tired of her being sad

Benito: i’m sorry mami❤️

Brianna: thank you baby. i think a party will be good for me

Benito: of course it would

Brianna: i just need you right now

Benito: i’m here for you anything you need

Brianna: anything?😩

Benito: hell yeah babygirl 🤤

Brianna: let me tell anthony real quick

Brianna giggled and went to her closet. She paused remembering the recent tragedy. She needed to calm down. She found a pink slip dress with little cherries on it. It had white lace trim and she found red platform shoes to match the cherries. It was a little bold but that’s what she was feeling. She went down the hall to find Anthony typing on his laptop.

“Um Anthony.”

He looked up from his work and smiled. “What’s

up?”

“ So my friend and their family are having a little

cookout tomorrow and I was wondering if I could stop by. They are only a 5 minute walk away.”

“I don’t have a problem with it. I’ll ask Jazzy but what time is it at?

“ It starts at 4pm and whenever you need me back because they party late because we are Mexicans.”

Anthony laughed. “Yeah that’s fine. Did they know your mom?”

“Yeah my mom was friends with their mom.”

“Oh okay cool.” Anthony sighed. “Jasmine is making dinner so we can ask her then.”

“Okay cool!” Brianna smiled. “Thank you Anthony.”

“Anytime Bree.”

Brianna went back to pick out her shopping outfit. She picked out a black mini skirt with a purple bodysuit. She found her big bambo earrings and her mom’s s nameplate.

“Dinner yall!” Jasmine yelled.

They all sat at the table except for Anthony because there weren’t enough seats.

“I made salad I hope it’s good.” Jasmine passed the bowl around.

“ Also the rice has peas and bacon bits. I found the recipe online.”

“This is so good!” Elena said.

“Good I’m glad you all like it.”

They continued eating.

“Hey Jas. I was wondering if I can go to my friend’s cookout. Their family is coming over on Saturday.”

“Did you usually go over their?”

“Yeah they knew my momma. They live super close and I’ll have my phone on me. Anthony said it was fine but to ask you.”

Jasmine laughed at her eagerness.

“How long are you staying?”

“It starts at 4 and it goes pretty late so when you need me home.”

“Is midnight too late?” Anthony asked for her.

“Damn y’all are both party animals. That’s fine because you are close and you have your phone.”

Elena rolled her eyes. She didn’t like Benito.

“Isn’t he that ghetto guy you’re into.”

Anthony snorted his water.

“No his sister is going to be there I’m hanging out with her.” Brianna was pissed.

Jasmine laughed at Elena. She loved that kid.

“Look it’s fine with me. You’re 16 and I’m sure you will make smart choices. If his parents are there it’s fine with me. No drugs alright.”

“I’m not doing drugs.”

“I never said you were but I’m just saying.”

Anthony added. “Just text me, Pineapple, if you need me over their alright.”

She laughed. “Okay.”

Elena rolled her eyes.

“Can I spend the night at my friends Ruby’s house across the street since my sister is gonna party?”

Anthony laughed. “Well if she’s across the street that’s fine because we can get you in the middle

of the night.”

“Yeah they are weird but they have been friends since kinder so.” Brianna said.

“Yeah you girls should have some fun since y’all have gone through a lot. Plus it’s summer vacation!”

They continued to eat. Jasmine caught Anthony staring at her chest.

“Eyes up here.”

Anthony rolled his eyes. Jasmine was excited to have her ex do anything for her. Anthony felt his pants tighten so he thought about gross

videos of things getting slaughtered. He quickly lost his appetite.

“Alright I’m shower.” Anthony excused himself.

“I’ll clean up.” Brianna said as she collected dishes.

“These next two days will be interesting.” Jasmine thought.
