I watched the finale of young royals and here are some of my rambles, collected while watching. Enjoy.
Spoilers!!!
So i didn't make it a minute, i paused at 00:59 because i could already feel the tears coming up. What the hell.
I honestly didn't expect the reactions to the closing to be that way. A lot of screaming and blaming? Sure. But August breaking down? Very in character, but unexpected.
I was especially surprised by Vincent going for a hug to calm him down. Really surprised me.
Felice is probably my favorite person in this show ngl
And they see each other from across the room, through the partying people, and we have come full circle back to the first episode. Honestly poetic. I love it.
August got redeemed. And although i am still rationally thinking about the consequences, emotionally it works. My emotional side thinks he's earned it. Somehow.
Felice and Sara making up is healing my soul
Nils finally coming out to his friends. No comments, just that.
They are wrapping everything up so beautifully in the first 30 mins. All the smaller things. The rush from the "last" everything, everybody finally getting their shit in order, all of it. Beautiful.
I am also insanely worried about what is going to happen now. I am writing this at timestamp 26:25 and the 30:53 of emotional damage on the other side of the progress bar is still staring at me. We'll see.
And the interaction between August and Sara just killed me. And its not even over. I had to pause so i could handle Augusts puppy eyes after the rejection. Judging from the big sip of cider i just took i was subconsiously rooting for them. I think i just want them to be happy. All of them. Even Sara and August.
Okay homebro is panicking so bad he PROPOSED, he is down BAD
Also the line "You love who you are when you are with me" was killer, oh my god
Tumblr media
The last kiss. The wiping away the tears. "It will pass." Wound, Salt, and then they twist the knife.
But it is a fitting ending. It works. It fits their characters, their journeys. They wouldn't have worked out in the long run and they get their ending. Both heartbroken, but on their way to healing.
I love and hate the idea of "one last night together". It implies and ending i am still dreading. But they deserve to forget everything for a night.
I honestly didn't realize it was still sun out and it caught me off guard so bad (or is that a sunrise? I am so confused)
I don't have the scene on hand but i am pretty sure they framed the scene in the bed at the end of s3e5 the same way as them lying on the blanket (?) here. Super interesting visual storytelling.
(Small detail here, i recently had a crash course on tv journalism and a big part of that was scenes and pictures, thats why i pay so much attention to the visual language here)
The entire lake scene is beautifully shot. The way they have mirroring motions (like brushing hair out of Willes face) in different perspectives, the way the water is shot, the entire calmness of all of it. And then they have these emotional conversations under it that build up these emotions, with these big pauses in speech, drawing out this bit of retrieve from everything.
The way they show Simon swimming away, the distance between them, when they speak about exactly that.
And how they go from Wille sitting at the lake, watching Simon swim, being physically not in the same thing as him (the lake), Simon swimming away, and then the cut over to him alone in his bed.
Beautiful, artistic storytelling.
Also fucking heartbreaking, i am nearly crying already and there are 23 minutes and 54 seconds left to completely destroy me.
I am clutching to the hope that twenty minutes are left to figure everything out and that that would be too long for this to be the end. Twenty minutes, 30% of the finale, cannot and will not be the epilogue, i dont think thats likely and i also refuse to believe that.
Okay, Stella and Frederika are finally together, at least some of my sanity is clutching on. I literally yelled "fuck yeah" and punched the air.
Henry and Valter (i hope i spelled that right) together in the fields also makes me happy. I know they were shipped a lot and although I am not a religious shipper of them, i am rooting for them. Go them.
Wille taking down the pictures could also be taking the happiness out of my heart. Whats wrong with the showrunners for making us do this rollercoaster?!?!
Also him taking off Erik and him before Simon and him. Beautiful.
OH MY GOD THE BIRTHDAY GIFT
I am not prepared. Not at all. Oh my god.
Is that like a farewell? Or a "stay with me"?
Not ready. Will press play though and hug my pillow expectantly.
I made it like three seconds. WILLES SONG?!?!?!!?!?
Wille walking through Hillerska. Seeing all those spots. All those memories.
EVERYONE TAKING DOWN PICTURES. THE GOODBYES.
THE SONG. THE SONG.
Don't let them make you hide yourself.
The callback to the football field.
"WE WERE NEVER WHAT WAS WRONG" !!!!!
All the callbacks. "I could be free" was from the "he would give up the crown for you" scene, if i recall correctly. Simon is revisiting every moment in their story.
"'Cause we were a revolution" WHY IS THIS IN PAST TENSE? NO. NO!
It shouldn't be a revolution to love another.
That quote itself. Then showing August and Sara. Back to Wille.
What is slightly concerning to me is that they haven't shown Simon yet. His voice is singing, but they show everyone but him. (Sara was on the picture, i count that, but he is nowhere. Just a ghost of memories.)
"You were my revolution before it fell apart" I'M SORRY JUST TAKE MY HEART, BREAK IT AND STOMP ON IT. SURE, GO AHEAD, DIDN'T NEED IT ANYWAY
(sorry, this shit is getting to me)
(Although, you apparently read this far through my chaos, so honestly your fault)
(Still cool you're still here)
THE SNOW GLOBE. IN THE TRASH. BROKEN. DISCARDED.
Now, are we discarding Erik or are we discarding broken and damaged things? Like this relationship? fucking tell me i am losing it here
Wille looking at August after he officially graduated. I can't read his look. And i am so confused to the situation and emotions here. Because last time they were drunk, now they are sober and both their relationships with the Erikssons are basically over. That is an interesting dynamic.
SIMONS SONG INSTEAD OF THE CLASSIC HILLERSKA HYMN. SIMONS SONG ABOUT LOVING WILLE. THE ENTIRE REVOLUTION.
Wille standing alone. Then seeing his parents, behaving different from the other parents, but at least being there.
His mom trying. The hug.
And i am finally crying. These breaks to write down my thoughts have kept this at bay so far, but a mother trying and asking for forgiveness has finally broken me. (I should bring this up with my therapist)
Wille going after Simon. And his mother smiling at that.
The heartbeat in the background. After "I never gave up on us." Hope.
WHY ARE YOU SAYING GOODBYE
YOU STILL HAVE THIRTEEN MINUTES TO FIGURE IT OUT
And again Wille is telling Simon to enjoy a holiday. It was christmas. Now its the summer holidays.
Tumblr media
But no "i love you"s. Just a heartbeat.
Simon leaving. Again.
And Wille is hesitating. I swear the heartbeat is speeding up. He is hesitating.
And i find myself yelling at the tv for him to finally move and go after him. Fight for him. Fight for them.
Fucking move. Get your man.
And this idiot walks physically backwards. Back to society and his parents, away from his love.
Fuck me, he called Simon the love of his life. And maybe he's young and doesn't know better. But i am not much older and am fairly sure someone would not say that if they didnt mean it. SO BETTER FUCKING GO AFTER HIM.
WHY ELSE WOULD THE HEARTBEAT BE THERE? i mean i am not a medical expert but i am pretty sure that was not one heartbeat, that sounded off. I hope it was two, two hearts and their beats, two lives entangled.
Felice and Sara are actively healing my soul. I am pretty sure i have written that sentence earlier but i refuse to check.
Also Wille being uncomfortable in the car. He should have run after Simon, than he wouldnt be, change my mind.
"You will be a fantastic king."
What if i don't want that?
Ladies, Gentlemen and friends of other assorted genders: FUCKING FINALLY
An honest, open, (somewhat) calm conversation. The one thing they have needed for three seasons. We finally have it. Finally.
The visual conflict of emotions in the queen. The motherly pride and concern for her child and the disappointment and fear of the monarch losing their heir. It's brilliant acting.
The realization on Augusts face hitting him when he sees Wilhelm leave.
The shaky camera as Wille is looking around, searching. The camera was steady in the car, a bit shaky around August, and now it is full on wobbling around. It is a panic, with the music, the emotions swelling.
And then he runs. And yells. And the camera gets steadier.
The regret in his face when he can't keep up anymore. And then the hope when he sees the car stop.
The relief in Willes voice when he tells Simon. And the pain in Simons eyes. Slowly morphing into hope.
The distance between them. When Wille was coming clean, they showed the faces, not the distance between them. Just that they were talking face to face. Now, as Wille asks, if Simon is done with him, they show this distance between them.
Simon starting to smile.
And now, paused, my brain moving faster than i can type, i was wondering why he was sitting in the backseat. They must have someone else in the car. And you can see Felice peeking through the rear window.
And the way they kiss. Passionately. Not holding back. Finally free.
All their moments. Their story. Their love. Finally, them saying i love you. To each other. In the open. Free. Declaring themselves. Together.
And Wille coming with them. Their little found family. Them whoooing in the car, like they did on that night at the football game on the motor bikes.
Them being happy.
And then that final look in the camera. Finally happy, finally free.
Cut to black.
Okay, that was absolutely brilliant.
I loved it, every second of it. It was a beautiful way of wrapping everything up, a happy ending at last. For everyone.
August becomes king. Or whatever. We dont care.
Sara and Felice make up. Are friends again. Are free together.
Felice finds herself outside of money and in people. In her friends.
Sara realizes she has people that care for her and see her as she is. She finds happiness in platonic love, not romantic.
Simon and Wille end up together, overcome their differences. Find a way.
Simon has his love and reconsiled with his sister. He can be true to himself and created his song, his music. Music that touches others, Music that others like.
And Wilhelm got out of that system that caused him so much pain. He got closure, threw away the snow globe, quit being royalty. He is free, the one thing he wanted all this time. Be happy, be himself, be free.
Sometimes family is a former crown prince, his musician boyfriend, a neurodivergent horse girl and the worlds best best friend.
[I think this is the point where i thank you for reading all this. I am going to post this without reading it a second time to keep myself surprised and not edit any reactions. But i hope the rambling made some sense. Thank you!]

YR S3 things I absolutely loved so far
Sneaking away at the palace to make out (never mind that there’s litigation going on)
Wille openly kissing Simon in front of everyone (also the pink sweater)
Simon drawing a heart on Wille’s hand
Wille, Simon and Felice interacting
Maddie
their little camping in the forest
Rosh and Stella
Marieberg x Hillerska crossover/rave
the girls trying to cheer Felice up
Felice actually bringing up that the Husmor always pointed to Felice and her hair and ignored when other girls wore their hair down
people finally talking about the fucked up stuff going on at Hillerska
Wille finding out that Erik wasn’t as perfect as he once thought (tho what he found out stings to say the least)
Simon’s interaction with the mum and her kid on May 1st
Felice painting Wille’s nails
August? like I actually didn’t feel like skipping his scenes this season
PEOPLE POINTING OUT/BRINGING UP ISSUES - like Augusts obvious ED; i wish there was more time to do it more justice
Sara talking to her dad and him giving her some sound advice? Coming from a person who shares your struggles (or diagnosis) is huge and I’m glad he actually told her she can do hard things and move on from this
Wille letting his parents know how shit his life has been, especially the last year
Simon singing happy birthday to Wille, getting him a cupcake with candles
Nils telling Wille he’s brave
Sara and Felice working together at the graduation dinner

Royally Whipped- Chapter 5
“Oh, Wille,” Felice said softly, and by the tone of her voice, he knew exactly how she was drawing her eyebrows together, corners of her mouth turned down, teeth worrying one corner of her lower lip. “Wille, for all of our joking, I didn’t know” she added in the same voice. “Cat’s out of the bag?” He joked half-heartedly, but, even to his own ears, he sounded beyond defeated.
Wille's happy bubble finally bursts when he is (once again) confronted with the truth of his life. As they start filming episode three of Hela Svergie Bakar, the reality check couldn't have come at a less convenient time. It's a good thing he has the concert to look forward to- and Felice to calm his nerves and soothe the pain.
Chapter 5 of Royally Whipped is out now! Read it here.
And if you have no idea what this is all about, you can start from the beginning here.
Have fun reading <3333

I have a happy Polin AU !
First book version because I despise de Marina subplot, and the destruction of Peneloise, and the lack of Felicity, and the personality transplant between Colin and Benedict.
When Violet shows Colin "The List " with Pen on the top it actually works because she doesn't give it to him but tells him to check it out because it's for the nephew of a friend of hers and she wants to make sure they are all great ladies as she believes, and Colin is like "you want to just give away Pen to someone we don't even know!" and gets all grumpy which make him (finally!) evaluate his feelings and realize them.
So he procceds to go court Pen without telling her he's courting her, but telling his family and hers (who don't tell her either because they think nothing will come of it). So Pen thinks he's just being extra nice and they are getting closer. Thus whe he proposes like a couple months later in she's shocked to learn they being courted for months.
Cue hilarious / chaotic proposals only Colin deciding to make a grand gesture so there's no doubt in anyone's mind.
This is old, and I am so sorry, this got lost in my drafts.
But I like this idea! I do believe Colin had feelings for Penelope back when he shouted his infamous words on the steps, but they were still brand new, and he needed time by himself to sort them out. But as they are the Bridgertons, they can't help getting into each other's business. Too many cooks in the kitchen, and no their messing up the recipe that's wrong! When Colin was still trying to figure out what the recipe wanted exactly.
But this here, Violet saying a friend of her's having a nephew, or even one of the Rokesby cousins, are looking for potential brides then shows him a list that she actually put together for him could probably be the equivalent of leaving out an ingredient needed for the recipe, or adding something tue cook may have forgot.
Colin reads over the list Violet gave him for some other man, and his eyes widen immediately when he sees Penelope's name in the top spot. He feels his eye twitch, and no, that's wrong. Penelope can't marry into his mother's friend's nephew's family. She belongs in the Bridgerton family, she belongs with . . .him.
The very next day Colin goes to call on Penelope, but in his tunnel visioned determination forgot to say he was calling to court Penelope.
He tells their families, though. Portia asks her daughter if it was true Colin was courting her, but Penelope denied it. Though Portia also didn't say that's what Colin told her. Portia sighed, how she wished one of her daughters could bag a Bridgerton, but if Penelope says they are not courting, then Portia would believe her. That does make Portia suspicious though of Colin's true intions.
The Bridgertons on the other hand are ecstatic that Colin is courting Penelope and can't wait for him to propose.
Meanwhile, poor Penelope has no idea she's being courted. She just thinks Colin is being extra nice, and maybe pities her a little bit. This is her third season out after all. She'll enjoy the attention while it lasts.
It all comes to head when Portia or Felicity asks their Bridgerton counterpart what Colin's intentions are towards Penelope.
Bridgerton says Colin is courting Penelope with plans to marry. Featherington says Penelope has said they were not courting.
They go back and forth until said couple walks into the drawing room and then both Bridgerton and Featherington are demanding to know Colin's intentions.
Colin bursts out, "I'm going to marry Penelope!"
Penelope's brain temporarily shuts down

Expecting her to announce that she’d finally devised a way for her characters to live in perfect felicity, he was more than taken aback when she declared, “I refuse to give up my work once we’re wed.”
Surprise jerked through him, causing the reins in his hands to twitch and the horses to slow. With a soft chirrup, he urged them back to their steady pace before turning to Jane. “Who asked you to?”
Still stiff, she turned warily toward him. “I realize we had not discussed…” Beneath the lap blanket, one hand made a restless circle, a gesture that might have been intended to take in any number of things. “But I feared you might not think it proper for your countess to…”
“As it seems you may not be well acquainted with the lass, I’ll just tell you that my countess has a mind of her own. Nor am I overmuch concerned with propriety, if it comes to that.”
She weighed his response for a moment. The clip-clop of the horses’ hooves was loud in the stillness. “You’ll also be marrying a woman with a substantial fortune to her name. Though according to the law, everything I have will be yours.”
“Aye,” he agreed. “A scandal, if you ask me, but I canna change the law on my own, lass. I can only tell you I intend to order the solicitor to draw up papers to settle what’s yours however you see fit.” He shifted the reins to one hand so that he might slip the other beneath the heavy wool lap blanket in search of hers. “On our children, if you wish it,” he said, curling his fingers around one tightly balled fist.
Leaning forward just enough to peep around the fur edge of her hood, he watched her cheeks pink, and the slightest curve of a smile rise to her lips. “Do you suppose one day they’ll learn the truth and wish their inheritance had come from some more respectable source?”
“An’ who, may I ask, is raisin’ these bairns, that they haven’t the sense God gave a goose?” That earned him one of those tinkling laughs he loved so much. He squeezed her fingers again. “What’s more respectable than a book that makes folks happy?”

"There must be a glowing light above such houses. The joy they contain must escape in light through the stones of the walls and shine dimly into the darkness. It is impossible that this sacred festival of destiny should not send a celestial radiation to the infinite. Love is the sublime crucible in which is consummated the fusion of man and woman; the one being, the triple being, the final being-- the human trinity springs from it. This birth of two souls into one space must be an emotion for space. The lover is priest; the apprehensive maiden submits. Something of this joy goes to God. Where there really is marriage, that is to say, where there is love, the ideal is mingled with it. A nuptial bed makes a halo in the darkness. Were it given to the eye of the flesh to perceive the fearful and enchanting sights of the superior life, it is likely that we should see the forms of night, the winged stranger, the blue travelers of the invisible, bending, a throng of shadowy heads, over the luminous house, pleased, blessing, showing to one another the sweetly startled maiden bride and wearing the reflection of the human felicity on their divine countenances. If at that supreme hour, the wedded pair, bewildered with pleasure, and believing themselves alone, were to listen, they would hear in their room a rustling of confused wings. Perfect happiness implies the solidarity of the angels. That obscure little alcove has for its ceiling the whole heavens. When two mouths, made sacred by love, draw near to each other to create, it is impossible, that above that ineffable kiss there should not be a thrill in the immense mystery of the stars." — Victor Hugo (Les Misérables)

“Nihal was pleased; without knowing quite why, in the evening, right after dinner, she had wanted to escape everyone, especially Behlül, as if afraid that this fragile dream of happiness would be injured by a momentary unkind, rough touch. And when she found herself alone here, she had felt the sudden overflowing need for someone beside her, someone to talk to about her happiness in this secluded intimacy. Someone whose presence would not infringe on this solitude, someone who resembled a vision of affection watching her from a distance. She had thought of Mlle de Courton; she would tell her everything she wanted to say. As she wrote, she would see the old girl’s cheerful, smiling face, and under her gaze she would describe the page of springtide that had unfolded in the book of her heart. This page that promised sunshine and happiness, this page came after pages that were so worn with tears and despair, and ended their pain with such bright joy, that as she listened, the old girl would be as happy as Nihal. Had she not told her little Nihal so, on that last night? Had she not said that she would be happy whenever she had news of her happiness?
Yet, when Nihal sat on her chair to write, her eyes remained fixed absently on the blank sheet, in the wavering light of her candle, and she had been unable to find the first word of this bright page. There was a secret, indescribable fear in her, a hint in the intoxicating air of this happiness that made her tremble a little, that seemed purposefully to draw a thin line of darkness on this new, clear horizon, and kept her from surrendering herself entirely to her felicity.
She had wanted to understand this fear. She only found something in her heart that ached like a deep point of pain. This marriage had been thought of, and put into motion for others’ happiness, not hers. Following what dark, winding traces, she saw her father preparing this alliance in secret with Firdevs Hanım and Behlül, working to be free of this fractious girl. Then she felt a great enmity towards her father. How many times, moved by this feeling, in order to be avenged on them, she had wanted to dare to begin a mutiny that would put an end to this jest; but each time, with an irresistible weakness hampering her, she had felt a laxity that made her desire its continuation. Did she love Behlül? As she posed this question to herself, she felt the need to shake her head to give emphasis to the reply.
‘I don’t suppose so,’ she would say, but again there was a truth that she admitted to herself: perhaps she did not love Behlül, but she wanted to be loved by him. She thought this was enough to be happy; then, when this jest ended in a reality that night, Nihal suddenly found herself reading those lines in her heart that had remained doubtful until then. Yes, she loved Behlül, too. And who knew, since what hour? Yes, she loved him, she could only be his wife. Once she had confessed this, she felt freed of a great load.
And this was so, yet again she could not find a single word to place upon this white paper, to tell of her happiness. She gave up trying to write. She would write in the morning; she was sure she could write in peace once the excitement of the things she wished to write about had passed. But this morning, under the sun that entered through her window in a wide wave, before this blue sea, she could only write one line:
“Mademoiselle, she was saying, finally your itty bitty Nihal is giving up her lonely life, and reaching out her hand to someone, someone you know well, and itty bitty Nihal is so happy, so happy that she cannot find more than these few words to write to you.”
(Chapter 20)
Did Nihal love Behlül? I will never make up my mind about this (and neither can she).

Ten Random Lines
Rules: pick any ten of your fics, scroll to the midpoint, pick a line (or three) and share it. Then tag ten people. I was tagged by @scottxlogan Thank you for the tag!
I’m tagging: @mischief-and-tea-by-the-sea @scottxlogan (no pressure if you don't wanna do this again) and everyone else who wants to have a go
I lol-ed because I only have 12 fics up, and it wasn't much of a headache to pick. Here's a guide if you want to skip or zoom in on a particular ship/fandom-
1-4: VanDieter (Army of the Dead)
5: DigShot (Arrow)
6-7: FrostIron (The Avengers)
8-10: WolveSilver (X-Men)
Here goes under the cut!
Fifth time’s the charm (VanDieter)
Dieter knocks, taking an expectant step back as he stands outside Vanderohe’s room, smelling a little too fruity after his shower, beaming as he thinks back to the events of the past hour, where Vanderohe had most definitely kissed him, before instructing him to come over anytime he’s ready.
It was something he could do forever, Dieter contemplates while waiting. He never felt love quite like this before, and Dieter was sure that apart from Vanderohe, he might have really only been in love just once.
“Are you always this happy?” Vanderohe says with amusement, as he opens the door for Dieter.
2. On the edge of the precipice (VanDieter)
Guz and Chambers were menaces, honest to god— which was probably, and unfortunately, one of the many reasons why they got along with Diet like a house on fire.
3. A series of firsts (VanDieter)
“We could make this a thing,” Vanderohe says, drawing circles with this thumb around the inside of Dieter’s wrist.
“Are you a mind reader now?” Dieter catches himself smiling for what must be the thousandth time since the day started, “I would very much like for this to be a thing”.
4. How to stage an intervention: Chambers’ Edition (VanDieter)
Sometimes the muted resonance shatters and Dieter resonates. Feels everything from his heartbeat to the smell of rain, to the comfort and thrill of the night. Gives as much as he gets.
Somedays, like today, the endorphins consumed him. The space in his chest light like it was floating outside of him.
5. New Beginnings (DigShot)
A couple of weeks after Oliver and Felicity’s return to Star City found Diggle at the end of his wits. The entire Ghost situation was a clusterfuck; not that he expected any less, but he couldn’t say that he had expected, nor was he adequately equipped for, everything that the situation landed on his plate. Bloodlust. The dead coming back to life. Magic. Most of all, a brother he didn’t know anymore.
Oliver had encouraged him to try. Diggle didn’t know what to make of the unsolicited advice. It might have been more convincing had Oliver not felt like a bed of roses fresh out of his honeymoon. Lawton had conversely blessed him with an unimpressed look that said: he was stupid for even considering; a calculated, rational conclusion, the only one which the darker side of the assassin was capable of. But just because it was sound didn’t mean that Diggle had to like it. The deliberation had escalated into a heated exchange of words, a scuffle, and finally, to him getting the cold shoulder. Diggle pointedly chose not to spare any thought about why it affected him the way it did.
6. Controlled Chaos (FrostIron)
“Dum-E!” Tony’s indignant squawk thankfully derailed that train of commentary. Tilting his head, Loki notes that the said bot was now pressed against him following its close pursuit of them in their tour of its home. “Don’t antagonize Loki like that, god knows he’s more likely to actually dismantle you and use you for knife practice”
“Hardly,” Loki clarifies, unable to stop his right eye from twitching at the notion of using something so sentient for knife practice of all things. Such an exercise hardly bode any good results for the wielder— something he decided Tony strictly didn’t need to know.
7. Home is Where the Heart is (FrostIron)
“Please say you don’t wanna bail, Houdini,” the said menace was now looking at him with wide pleading eyes. “I was promised three days of you waltzing me around this place,” Likely the widest he could possibly manage.
Meddling, sentimental fool . Loki thinks with an affectionate huff.
“That insult had better not be meant for me,” his lover complains without missing a beat, nose scrunched up in mock offence.
Loki arches an eyebrow in confusion. He most certainly had not said that out loud.
“Oh c’mon Lokes,” the genius has the audacity to roll his eyes at Loki’s confusion, “every time you huff, there’s an insult to be found in there somewhere,”
The man made a fair point.
8. Two Halves of the Same Whole (WolveSilver)
Where Wolverine expects pain, there is nothing.
For a moment, Logan is confused. When the confusion clears, he notices the silver-haired mutant braced above him by the side of the remote temple that he’s been spending the better half of his day trying to reach.
Logan has only seen Quicksilver in passing. He’s only ever offered the younger mutant a nod of acknowledgment when they cross paths. He doesn’t know anything beyond the fact that Quicksilver has superspeed, talks way too much, and his father is a grade-A asshole. It somehow makes the current situation where Quicksilver is starting to slump over him, a gaping hole in his side, much, much worse.
9. Life in Technicolor (WolveSilver)
Not being able to catch a break proves itself to be a very much persistent sentiment when ‘lousy co-sleeper' turns out to be a gross understatement.
Quicksilver, the one that’s 50 years too young, mutters something in his sleep before flipping over with vigor and kicking him in the shin. Logan grunts in frustration, stirring for the umpteenth time since he’s said his goodnights to the speedster. It isn’t something he’d ordinarily do, but this Quicksilver is nothing if not insistent.
This Quicksilver is also much more fidgety compared to what Logan’s ordinarily used to, and he hasn’t caught a decent wink of sleep yet.
10. Ritalin (WolveSilver)
“Logan?”
“Yeah, Pete?”
“Are you tired of me?”
“What— no, of course not,” Logan says slowly, postcoital lull shattering as Peter’s question sends a wave of alarm spiking all the way up to his throat. So help him, because he had thought that they were doing well enough, and now it appears that Logan’s most certainly not doing something right. It can’t be the sex that’s lacking, so perhaps it’s the number of dates they’ve been on, or perhaps the type of attention that’s the problem. Logan decides that the easiest way to find out is to ask. “Elaborate. What brought this on?”

feel the need to vomit my thoughts somewhere:
Young Royals s3 ideas:
- This season can deal with the aftermath of Wille’s coming out and making their relationship public.
- Simon and Wille are happy together so the drama can come from public response to their relationship. An online fandom forms and it gets out of hand/invasive: twitter overanalyzing photos of them in public, gossip blogs posting reports from anonymous sources who attend Hillerska.
- Maybe someone falsely reports that Simon and Wille break up and then Simon gets death threats from terminally online people.
- Basically just mirror the stupid bullying shit that social media currently does to young actors (lookin at you H**rtst*pper twitter…), and draw attention to the harm it causes.
- August gets some kind of comeuppance?? I don’t know how I feel about what they did with August in s2 tbh. I kinda wish he was more of an outright dick so I could feel better about wishing for his downfall. Maybe they could make him more of an outright antagonist in s3, like August has nothing left to lose so he thinks if he can ruin Wille more then it will get him a better shot at the crown. And then have it all blow up in his face at the end.
- Sara redeems herself and she and Felice become friends again (bc I also don’t totally know wtf they were doing with Sara in s2 and I want them to be friends again).
I think season 3 could be the end of the high school era. Then either for season 4 or maybe the finale of s3 we get a timeskip to cap off the series: Simon’s in university/graduated and Wille’s maybe fulltime in his royal duties. If it’s a whole season I dunno what the plot would be lol. But it would end the series in a place where they’re both older and wiser and still together, so that you know they’re endgame. Because I need for my fictional romances to have a happily ever after.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

(Old Art) Happy loose drawing
Art Timelapse
From November 21, 2021: "Happy loose draw"
A quick late night sketch of my cat OC Felicity (at the time named "Happy").
MINI JOURNAL (RETROSPECTIVE)
Suddenly got an image in my head of a sketch idea. Pretty late, but wanna get it out before i forget this image. Also, want to vaguely make it look Bruce Day-like (FYI: the 1987-1990 album cover artist for the Adventures in Odyssey audio dramas).
BEHIND THE SCENES: STUDENT SHORT CHARACTER DEV HABIT & ORIGIN OF FELICITY AND DAMON
Since she was a character in my at-the-time upcoming final short for my Intro 2D animation class, this was to help me get used to drawing my characters. Felicity wasn't too difficult, since I'd iterated on her for about 1 year. Damon was similar (he, along with Felicity, were branches off of a cat character in a "textured brush" assignment from my fall 2020 Intro to Digital Art class.
ART SUPPLIES
Hardware: iPad mini 5 & Apple Pencil 1st gen
Software: Adobe Fresco [through an Adobe Enterprise account, with my college account] (art & timelapse)
Brushes used:
Lineart: Natural Inker
Colors:
Watercolor round detail (bangs, shirt collar, neck)
Watercolor wash flat (ears, rest of head hair)
Watercolor basic round (right cuff)
Soft pastel (paw pads)
Watercolor wash soft (all other colors)

October 12: Briarpatch 1x10
My Briarpatch re-watch is complete. I really enjoyed it and the ending was very satisfying!
I think this ep really showed off how well-cast everyone was. Seeing Alan Cumming just deliciously slurping up the scenery was great, but everyone just hit their noir toned roles so well. It was really satisfying even though or perhaps especially because it was so often over the top.
For example: “I’m the most terrifying thing in the world. A lady with a job. And I’m good at it.” That was?? Actually amazing? Feels good to hear her say it.
The episode did suffer a little bit from “has 10 finales” disease, in that the last 20 minutes easy--everything from the Confrontation Scene on--was just one ending after another. Oh, what a poignant conclusion. Oh wait! Oh, what a poignant conclusion. Gotcha--there’s more! But there were a lot of loose ends to tie up and personal notes to hit.
The intro, interspersing Dill’s plan with the actual plan being carried out, was so well-edited. I love that technique in general. I did find some parts of it a little bit hard to follow, even on a second viewing. For example, she told Spivey they were going to align themselves with Brattle, and got him to agree to that to her. He was supposed to break things off with Raytek at the same time. Presumably to get her to do something. But Dill also relied on Spivey still prioritizing his own skin, and trying to keep his alliance with Raytek anyway. At that point, Dill knew that Raytek was the second bomber. Was she trying to draw her out as Spivey’s backup? Which didn’t work, she actually came as Colder’s backup but it turned out the same? I presume that’s it. Although on the other hand, she knew the real estate deal was off, so maybe this was more about Spivey than Raytek?
Spivey she was just misdirecting entirely by letting him think she was really going to let Brattle go. To be honest, I’m not sure how she was expecting that to play out, if Colder hadn’t shown up. I guess use Brattle to get to Colder, and then let the FBI, who were never called off because she never had any intention of stopping the Senator at all, would get Brattle.
It’s a bit confusing and I would like it explained to me lol.
Another thing I really liked was that in this show about selfish people all working to their own selfish ends, where there really aren’t good guys and bad guys but just different types of bad guys who are more or less sympathetic, and our main character is a classic anti-heroine, everything still tied itself up in a morally satisfying way. It didn’t just throw up its hands at the end and say, well, everything is grey anyway so nothing matters! Rather, it had a very clear sense of what bad acts were, in this narrative, especially bad, and it punished the perpetrators of those acts accordingly.
Specifically, the cardinal sin of the story is hurting, betraying, using, or abandoning Felicity. Raytek, Spivey, and Colder all failed her in some way. And none of them get what they want. They are all roundly punished: Raytek and Colder with death, and Spivey with prison. (Brattle is also killed but he’s just an all around Bad Guy, so that’s unsurprising.) The Senator, on the other hand, is no peach, but he essentially gets what he wants: Spivey’s arrest will be a big win for him, Allegra is asking for almost nothing in exchange for not releasing the tape, and we can fairly well assume he will at least win the nomination for the Presidency. He was willing to kill Allegra! He’s pretty awful! But he wasn’t involved in the Felicity story. It would be unrealistic for everything to end happily ever after, in such a story, or with neat, clear lines where the deserving win and the wrongdoers are punished. Corruption is everywhere, at every level, and so many people are just selfish and awful and power hungry. So yeah, a corrupt, selfish, power hungry politician lives to fight another day. But Dill got justice for the person she came to avenge. That’s a happy ending, and it’s a morally satisfying ending.
It helps that there are a couple of just honest-to-goodness good people here, too, and that they unequivocally prosper. I’m thinking of Singe and Cindy, of course.
Dill as the anti-hero has a fitting ending as well. She is, of course, also complicit in Felicity’s death, and she says so many times. She’s guilty in the exact same way Spivey is: the only thing we ever saw was each other. But she has a self awareness that he never has, not even at the very end. And, critically, she doesn’t completely win. I see Dill’s ending as happy, yes, especially by her own definitions--she can drive again, she no longer fears her past, she’s free both of the burdens of her past but of everything, and she’s in control of her destiny again. And yet, her main reward is simply escape, and a blank slate. She doesn’t prosper, specifically. I’m not sure I’m explaining this correctly, especially since she’s never wanted the sorts of things, money and power etc., that the other characters want, so to say she doesn’t gain power or influence or whatever isn’t saying much. Still, I see her ending as more reaching purgatory than reaching heaven. Like the Master and Margarita in The Master and Margarita (weird comparison I know lol).
As Candy Bar tells her in the previous ep, you can’t beat the system, and the only morally pure thing to do is to leave it altogether. That’s what she does. She uses her blackmail to buy her freedom and also her escape from the whole immoral system. The system continues--the Senator on his way to the White House--she isn’t a hero, she didn’t bring the whole house of cards down. And it’s certainly arguable that her decision to leave entirely is actually morally pure. But then she was never a hero, right?
I also loved what the show did with the central conundrum of a murder mystery where the victim is important to the detective--the central conundrum of any narrative that starts with the death of someone close to the main characters--that the audience will never know that deceased character properly. We have to be TOLD what the character meant to other characters. We have to be TOLD what she was like. We have to be TOLD why we should care that she’s gone. I think Six Feet Under is a good example of this: the show starts and ends with major deaths in the Fisher Family but Nate’s death hits completely differently than Nathanial’s--because we know who Nate is.
Briarpatch’s solution to this is to fold it into the plot. Yes, Felicity looks like just a plot device, and not least to Spivey and Dill, who are brought together by her death just to spend 10 episodes doing their will-they-won’t-they, toxic-most-important-person dance. The audience forgets that Felicity was important to their relationship too. And Spivey and even Dill forget this at times too: as she tells him in their final scene, he’s wrong to say it was always the two of them. It was always THREE. He can’t look at her now and say that they can still win, because the only thing that has ever mattered is that Spivey and Dill come out on top. He betrayed the third person, and Dill can’t forgive that.
Never mind that it’s never really been Spivey and Dill anyway. It’s just been Spivey, Spivey, Spivey.
That she simply walks away while he’s holding the gun on her, a moment foreshadowed by her walking away from the kid with the gun, was really excellent.
The insistence of both Spivey and Colder that they are the good guys was VERY interesting in this overall context of a morally grey noir genre, with a morally grey anti-heroine at the center, whose ending was recognizing her own complicity in the evils she’s avenging and then walks away. Does Dill get to ‘win,’ comparatively, because she is honest with and about herself? Why is it so important to Colder and Spivey to see themselves as the good guys? Because it allows them to justify their bad acts? Colder is a quintessential “nice guy” who is absolutely devoid of any moral core at all, and completely delusional about it. It hasn’t been as obvious throughout with Spivey, but it’s certainly been simmering under the surface with him.
Contrast these two men to Raytek. She never says she’s a good person. She says she is a problem solver. She gets things done. She never worries about the cost because she has a larger goal in mind: fix the town, even if it means using people, double-crossing allies, lying, manipulating--even murder. These aren’t good or bad acts. They’re just steps in a plan. Nothing matters if you win.
Colder and Spivey have much weaker self-images. Colder is completely delusional. He’s completely separated his actions from his understanding of himself. He IS a good guy, and so everything he does is, by definition, something a good guy would do. And he kills Felicity over it--because she challenged his idea of himself and his idea of her. “She wore your sister’s face, but she was a different person. There was something twisted and evil inside and I had to kill it so I could keep loving the real Felicity” is a really chilling line.
With Spivey, again, it is subtler, but I thought there was something really sad about him facing Dill one last time and being completely unwilling to let go even a little bit from his own narrative. He was the good guy and he and Dill were united against the world and everything would work out for them eventually.
It helped that he could always blame Brattle for everything. And Brattle really did mess him up, and I do think meeting him again pushed Spivey back into that really dark mental place that years of abuse had created in him.
Or maybe it’s just as simple as, he will always care about himself most. He will always be selfish, to the very last.
It was definitely interesting to see a relationship, in Dill and Spivey, that WAS deep, and old, and multi-layered, where they DID love each other, as some combination of friends and family and lovers, where maybe in a sense they WERE soulmates, but they were also deeply twisted and bad for each other. Their relationship was so deeply unhealthy. It was all of those things at once.

on the first watch i thought wille wanted to jump out of the window
wille is wearing ralph lauren pj pants. he really is a prince
i love the loud breathing in this scene
wille.exe has stopped working
can't believe simon scored the prince of sweden in a looney toones tshirt

Happy Holidays 🎉🎇, I was going to do something more cheerful but I think that since I was answering questions about my AU PPG Fallen Heroes, I thought it better to show how girls spend these parties🎄. They visit the city secretly to visit the Professor (remember that he died here⚰️) and well the different thing is that this scenario is when they finally decide to help the city again after years🌃. A sad scene? but hey, the girls still have their hearts 💗🌃 (forgive me if the Professor looks strange, I haven't done it before and drawing men is not my thing 😆)

I dont know much about The Selection so forgive me for the out of context plot but imagine KSP running to find a secret hide out the second they step foot in the castle and run into each other, where they bond over their shared disinterest of the brothers and united in their desire to raise their levels. I can imagine them agreeing to use the Selection to gain popularity without having to marry any of the brothers and hopefully up their levels. But obviously it backfires because their blatant disregard and disinterest of the brothers is what draws said brothers in like 'oooh pretty lady does not like me? SHE'S PERFECT'
And so for the entirety of the Selection (or maybe after months of denying their desires then finally admitting their desires), the ABC Brothers are running around chasing KSP with their tails wagging, and a shared brain cell revved up to the max. All the while their future wives chosen contestants are doing their best hiding, dodging and pushing the other contenders to them in a futile effort to throw the brothers of their trail.
Also, DEFGH are laughing their asses of on the sidelines at the tomfoolery their brothers are making and to up the chaos, half of them are matchmaking while the others are c0ckblocking their brothers (and vice versa) just for funsies.
To be honest, this isn't so far out of the norm from the book. So for some context for those not familiar with the Selection, our main characters meet when America, our female lead, has a panic attack her first night and tries to get out to the garden but they're not allowed outside on their own. The prince, Maxon and our male lead, sees this and demands the guards let her go out, that he'll be with her so it's allowed. She actually kicks Maxon in the groin at one point during this first meeting, and the man still falls in love. They strike up a friendship and a deal that while she's still in the competition, she'll basically be his inside informant. So much potential before Aspen made it messy.
In our au this is how I see it working out.
So Kate, Sophie, and Penelope live in neighboring territories so they travel together to the palace. They talk about their jobs, bookkeeping for Kate, maid for Sophie, and dancing for Penelope. They all shyly admit to one another that they're mainly in this competition to help raise their quality of life within the caste system. They also confide in one another while either chose their prince at random or someone else chose for them.
Kate has an excellent mind for business, and an excellent reputation as a bookkeeper, but due to her being a 4 she can't really rise any higher than where's she at. She relaxes by doing watercolors.
Sophie has a passion for art and finds comfort in it, even though so many look down at he for being a 6. She doesn't really care what she ends up doing after, maybe she'll teach, she's just relieved that she made it this far and automatically now a three.
Penelope dances as a 5, performing with her younger sister Felicity who sets up paintings for Penelope to move the paint around as she dances. Though her real talent is in writing the story she and Felicity does. She is thankful she could consider pursuing it further now that she's a three.
They're thankfully taken together to the same makeup artist and designer to get them ready for the first day of interviews. They keep talking to one another and thankfully keeps all of them calm, less likely to clam up when the official cameras turns on them. After each girl's interview they are left to their own devices for the day in the shared drawing room where each girl can hang out in, and their official meeting place. They are given out a schedule as well, meal times, one on ones. social events, classes to teach them things such as palace etiquette.
The girls are also happy to find they will be rooming together. Usually each girl gets their own room but since there are triple the contestants this Selection it was decided that one girl from each princes' selection would be rooming together until enough girls were eliminated to spread them each to their own rooms.
With the news, Kate, Sophie, and Penelope made a pact that they would look out for one another so long as they were in the competition. None of them think they'll be here that long, especially when it's time to pick the ten Elites, but they are already planning on some collaborations and friendships for their future. They're basically gonna network for all their worth while they're there.
Unknown to any of the girls the judging of the Selection has already begun. The royal family and the three of the princess' fiancés sat in a private drawing room where they watched each girl from the official and unofficial cameras.
"Well those three have some sense," Eloise laughed as the unofficial cameras picked up on three of the girls' conversation. "They don't want any of you."
"Eloise," Daphne swatted at her sister.
"It is rather interesting," Simon said, speaking to his best friend, Anthony.
"It is indeed," Anthony said.
Notes were being made on each girl, Gregory and Hyacinth would call out if any comments from the public online were of any interest of the girls.
It did not escape the others notice though that the three princes kept their eyes trailing back to a certain camera.
