Thinking about Secret Santa with the ST crew. It's the first time that Billy is included ever since he started dating Steve, and lowkey Nancy freaked out when she pulled his name because she has no idea what to get him. Because she thought she knew what Billy was like—they all did—until Steve started talking about his boyfriend.
At first, he'd avoided saying a name. He knew what they would all think, knew that they'd try to talk him out of the relationship simply from the way they'd known him in high school. But this was years later and they were all in their twenties, they'd all begun to heal from the traumas they'd suffered at such young ages. Nancy would have been silly to ignore the way her friend's face lit up when he talked about how Billy would cook dinner for him, or how sometimes he'd just bring home something silly because it reminded him of Steve, or how Billy gave the best hugs Steve had ever received.
So she wanted to do it right, get him the perfect gift to let him know that he was welcome in their group.
She gets him a disposable camera.
It's cheap for a camera, but it works and it's a way to preserve any memories that Billy deems important. She's expecting a smile, maybe a lighthearted crack of a joke about how he has to do all the work to get the reward of photos.
Nancy never expects Billy to set the camera down with a gentleness she'd never seen from him, only for him to bolt from the room. Steve's out the door in a second, leaving Nancy wondering if she'd fucked up. The couple returns two gifts later, and neither of them bring up the camera again.
It's not until later that night, when they're all drinking and trying (in vain) to keep the younger group away from the beer and champagne when Steve ends up outside with Nancy. He's smoking again, a habit he'd been trying to kick for years, ever since they'd tried dating what felt like a lifetime ago.
"He doesn't have any pictures," Steve spoke up, so suddenly that Nancy's head went reeling trying to place the context. He's not looking at her, instead bent over the balcony railing and peering out over the Indianapolis skyline. "Neil burned any his mom had taken, then never bothered to take any more. He's never had any pictures."
"I'm sorry," Nancy began, eyebrows drawing together and lips parting and unparting in an attempt to fish for the right words to string together. "If I'd known I wouldn't ha—"
"It's perfect," Steve answered, finally turning his head to look at her. Nancy had never noticed how much older he'd gotten—aged in a way that time alone could never manage, eyes softened by experience and the kind of love that was too deep for someone their age. She's happy for him, Nancy realized, Steve deserved to find someone that gave him that glow, that made him look so alive in a way Nancy realizes he'd never been before Billy.
"I didn't mean to bring up bad memories for him."
"Nance, it's perfect," Steve repeated as if that was supposed to help the guilt swirling in Nancy's stomach. "He never got to have that, proof of all the good that happens, all the memories. I'm trying to say thanks, for giving that to him. I wouldn't have come up with it."
"I..." Nancy began, expression finally breaking into a soft smile as she reached to hug him. "I'm glad he makes you happy, Steve. I hope he feels welcome enough here."
Nancy followed Steve's gaze back inside the apartment, where everyone is either standing around or sprawled in a heap of limbs on the various couches and chairs, laughing loudly over the obnoxious holiday music. She spots Billy, standing toward the edge of the fray but in deep conversation with Eddie, looking more at ease than he'd ever looked when they were in school.
"Do you want a picture with Billy?" Nancy asked, turning to look back at Steve who was watching the sight with a soft smile. "It would be a great first for the memory book."
"Yeah, I do," Steve answered, pulling open the door and waving for Nancy to step inside first. "I want a picture with our family too."
And as Steve rounded them all up for the picture, Nancy couldn't help but think pulling Billy's name for Secret Santa was the best thing that could have happened.

so @cyraclove sent me this fb reel (bc she's secretly a grandma) that was these two guys reacting to some reddit post about a guy who couldn't stay hard after his gf (or maybe just some girl he was hooking up with idk) told him to knock her up during sex and both of them were like THAT WOULD NOOOOT BE A PROBLEM FOR ME
and naturally my brain went "that's so eddie."
but then it went "oh shit that's also steve."
and so naturally together we decided that eddie and steve start a podcast called something like Reluctant Friends and their whole shtick is that their partners (chrissy and billy, respectively) are best friends and therefore they're forced to be around each other a lot and this is their way of trying to find common ground so they don't annoy the fuck out of each other all the time (but they still totally do anyway)
the first couple episodes are probably just them bitching about each other while also going on tangent after tangent about how it doesn't make any sense whatsoever that chrissy and billy are such good friends because they're COMPLETE opposites and yet their bond is unbreakable (surprise! it's childhood trauma)
but when they inevitably (i.e., very quickly) run out of things to talk about they start reacting to shitty relationship posts on reddit and they come across That Post and discover that they both have a serious breeding kink and voila! common ground.
(that episode goes viral. chrissy is extremely embarrassed but also behind closed doors she is very on board with eddie's breeding kink, while billy never stops teasing steve about it both in public and private.)

Britney Spears voice: it's been awhile
****
On the night Steve decides to pop the question to Billy, he has the ring stuffed into a chocolate cheesecake.
He leaves to prepare himself, and when he returns, he finds the cake gone, and his smug looking soon to be fiancé's mouth covered in chocolate.
The ring is nowhere to be found.

Some of Harringrove headcanons
that i consider canon at this point.
Steve has a big dick and Billy is a slut for it. (Billy's one is more like a coke can short and thick)
Billy's mom's name is Lily and when they have their baby girl her name is gonna be Lily too
Billy has soooo many kinks, size kink to praise kink and Steve checks all of them. He loves making Billy satisfied.
Steve is the official caretaker we know this and Billy fucking needs to be taken care of. He fucking needs all the love he gets. So they're perfect for each other.
Steve's mom is Italian so he knows Italian. Billy fucking loves his dirty talking in Italian.
Billy knows how to play piano because Lily though him. When he first played the piano in Steve's home they both cried. Billy because he miss his mom Steve because Billy gets fucking beautiful and talented every day and he doesn't deserve a bf like that.
Steve buys Billy gifts every day. Its not important what it is, some days it's a pretty cherry lip gloss and some days it's the flowers he pluck from graveyard his way back home. Billy love every one of them and has a memory corner where he keeps them safe.
On that note: Billy fucking loves wearing make up. He loves lipsticks mascaras eyeliners. He loves wearing pretty flowery dresses. He loves little pink crops, panties, lingeries. He loves LOVES being pretty. Being called pretty.
Steve loves fucking Billy with his pink panties still on and tasting his cherry lipstick on his lips. He buys most of the Billy's makeup and dresses.
Steve's good at singing. He sings to Billy always. Mostly at nights he sings to him Lily's lullabies while Billy's head is on his heart. Listening his heartbeats and voice carefully.
After Billy's accident he can't sleep alone. That's why they first sleep together. And continue doing it.

Hey 👋
I was wondering what hcs you had for harringrove?
Oh honey, you're in for it.
Also sorry it took forever ehahaheha...
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
BILLY IS THE LITTLE SPOON
Dunno why I started with that, it’s just something I feel very strongly about
Steve said “I love you!” first
Steve is 2 inches taller
Billy is possessive
He’ll always have an arm around Steve’s shoulder
Or, as he prefers, a hand in one of Steve’s back pockets
Billy asked Steve out in this sorta fashion:
“Hey, King Steve, come with me.”
“What? Why?”
“Just get in the damn car!”
“Are you gonna kidnap me?”
“No, I’m taking you to dinner!”
“Wait, what?”
“It’s called a date, Steve!”
Max would make so many sex jokes about them I swear-
And even before they were dating.
One example:
“Billy, what you you and Steve doing last night?”
“Um, watching a movie? Why do you care Max?”
“So is the movie the source of the moaning I heard last night?”
“The fuck?!”
“No, has to be you and Steve. No doubt about it!”
“Why the hell are you like this?”
“Why the hell are you fucking Steve?”
“I’m leaving-”
“To go fuck Steve?”
“Shut up!”
Billy survives the Mind Flayer, and every single day Steve would visit him until he got better.
As soon as Billy was good he would propose:
“I want you to marry me,”
“Billy, are you sure? You just recovered-”
“I’ve had people making decisions for me the last year, this is the one I want to make for myself. Will you marry me?”
And what would Steve say other than :
“Yes!”
Wedding was small but super nice.
The cake had chocolate butter creme, no one can convince me otherwise.
Poppy seed cake.
No doubt about it.
They would adopt a baby girl.
They would live a long life together as a loving family.

For the harringrove ask : 1, 4 and 16 🥰🥰
Aww sunshine 🥰🥰🥰 thank you, i love these??!?)
1. Who is always horny and will have sex at any place and at any time?
BILLY. At first it's him, he's the reason why steve missed Chem while doing it under the bleachers, he's most definitely the reason why they got in detention for locking themselves up in the gym (what on earth were you doing locked in there, dumbasses?? - the coach asks. - billy, innocently: shooting the hoops, coach! Just had to have some one-on-one practice before the big game next week! Steve's just blushing, eyes cast low. The coach doesn't buy it.) Billy is the one who lures steve into doing it at every possible place at school (the showers, the janitors closet, in said detention, they do it during lunch break, before classes in the parking lot, in between and after classes in empty classrooms). Billy's just that horny raccoon, who can't keep his hands off of steve (any and every possible location in Hawkins has been ✔️✔️✔️). Hopper sees the camaro/beamer with fogged up windows parked on a road side in his nightmares. The PARTIES??? Omg the endless possibilities at parties! The pool, scoops ahoy, the quarry, every possible surface in Steve's house and in Billy's room, the motel on Cornwallis - every place has been marked as their territory. But hey, Steve??? He's not as innocent as he looks. Sure, he's sweet and romantic and a bit shy at first like "no, billy.. stop.." (which makes billy hornier than ever), but very quickly billy unleashes harrington's inner slut, and Steve becomes unstoppable as well, billy unveils the horny/ravenous layer in him, and now it's hard to say who initiated what when)))
4. Who acts tough but actually is really submissive?
Billy's the one who absolutely has to act tough. He's tough, he's the macho, he's the man. Behind closed doors in Steve's arms??? He melts. He melts like ice cream under Steve's tongue and lips, and Steve savours him
But not always. I also see Steve as quite submissive as well. And billy goes absolutely feral for his pretty boy being so pliant, so soft like molding clay, billy being in power, being the boss, the one in control
16. Who is your OTP's unofficial/official child?
Well, Dustin remains to have this special bond with Steve throughout their lives (billy never learns his name, calling him "curly" or "the curly shithead". Dustin is not so secretly in awe of billy since his badass death and coming back to life)
One of my favourite headcanons (multiple posts made🙃) is that billy "adopts" El. She's like his unofficial little sister who he always takes care of. She's under his wing and they have their own special bond (which makes max just a bit jealous)
Officially? They adopt a little one whose biological parents bailed. They probably do it more than once. Billy always remembers the pain of one of his parents leaving him, so .. he has to do something about it, has to do what he can

Hi 👋
When would Steve realize that Billy is the "one"? Someone he wants to spend the rest of his life with?
Honestly? I think some part of him realized the day that Billy shoulder checked him on the basketball court and then grabbed his hand and told him to plant his feet. Whether it was a conscious or subconscious recognition, I'm not sure.
If we're sticking with canon? I don't think it fully clicked in his head until talking with Robin in the bathroom in season 3. I would argue that his moment of silence after she came out was not him processing that, but processing his own shit. In that moment, he realized that Billy was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Now, whether or not they'd gotten up to things/fooled around/dated in-between the seasons is up for interpretation, so there could've already been a developing relationship. I don't know, I think there's just something very Steve about him not realizing until it's too late. Before the end of the night, Billy is laying dead on the floor of Starcourt. IMO this could possibly explain him going through girls like crazy and then finally trying to rebound with Nancy in S4. (yes, I know it's the duffer's shitty writing let me try to make it make sense 😭) People deal with grief in different ways and I think that he would very quickly try to go back to what he knew and was familiar with, even if the feelings weren't really there anymore.
NOW, on a non-canon note? I think it's the first time that he sees Billy hurt. (from Neil, upside down shit, even after the fight at the Byers', or any number of scenarios.) I think seeing Billy hurt makes it click in his head that "Oh my god, I can't imagine living my life without this person in it. The rest of my life wouldn't be the same without them, I love them."
Bonus (how did Billy realize?): Billy realized the night of the Halloween party. Maybe he saw some astrological alignment of planets that his mom taught him about or maybe all it took was seeing Steve's face. That staring at him? It was absolutely NOT because he was trying to intimidate him or some stupid shit, he was trying to memorize the face of the person he wanted to be with. All of the "bullying" or teasing that he did to Steve was just straight up flirting (i mean we all knew that but my point still stands.) I think he was testing the waters and trying to get a gauge on if he had a chance with Steve at all; he was trying to figure out whether or not Steve was into guys and specifically into him.

Hi 💕💕
How do you think Steve would react the first time he sees Billy cry? How would he comfort him?
(Maybe Steve was singing him a song his mother used to sing him, or something?)
aaaa yess i haven't gotten an ask like this in a min (mainly bc i go inactive but w/e lmao)
I see a lot of headcanons Billy being quick to cry which makes perfect sense to me but since I project on him, my interpretation gets skewed by that.
I think of him as more stubborn with it. He doesn't cry often and his first instinct is to act out in anger because that's all he's ever known. Neil feels like the "boys don't cry" / "I'll give you something to cry about" type of father which has severely stunted Billy's ability to process his emotions. That being said, Steve's seen him absolutely, inconsolably pissed more times than he can count so the first time he sees Billy cry is way out of left field and he isn't immediately sure what to do.
Maybe he's startled for a second, Billy's the type to turn around and tell him to shut up and fuck off about it. Steve's persistent, though, and can't stand seeing someone he's close to in pain so he'd be patient. It's a soft hand on his shoulder to test where the boundary is that turns into a big, tight bear hug that almost makes it hard to breathe but not quite. Billy's embarrassed, his face is shoved into Steve's shoulder and he's shaking because his emotions always hit hard. Steve's gentle and content being what Billy needs and he's happy to finally lay the foundation to process all that repressed trauma. It's a milestone for them, it's the first step for them learning how to heal together, and that's really all Steve wants. Alternatively, all Billy wants is to finally have that safety net that he's never let himself keep around because he's been so scared to lose it again. I think it's a mostly quiet thing. Steve knows from the past that Billy shuts down when they start getting too deep into his inner struggle. But it's a good kind of quiet and it's a good start to getting better. Steve's hurting because Billy is but at least they're hurting together and Billy doesn't have to be alone this time.
At the end of it, Billy totally just brushes it off like it's nothing and tries to pretend it never happened. He's self conscious under all that peacocking. But Steve remembers it and because he's grown to want to be the best version of himself for the people he cares about, he starts making sure he's there to be that shoulder to cry on more often.
this got longer than I meant for it too but it makes my chest warm thinking about it,, ty for this ask, its so soft and i love it

Susan knows that car.
She's at the trailer, and her daughter's talking all strange about murderers and what ifs, and she looks over and sees this burgundy Beemer. And at first it doesn't phase her, but the second the car is pulling out of their drive it hits her. She's seen that car before, what felt like a lifetime ago.
Last summer, only ever at night when she would come out to the living room to clean up after Neil went to bed. It wouldn't stick around for long, just enough for Billy to climb out of the passenger seat and jog back to the side of the house where his bedroom window was. She thought it was strange then, because Billy demanded to drive himself everywhere. But she didn't say anything, because she knew what happened the last time she mentioned a car and Billy sneaking around at night: they'd packed up and moved away from California after he and Neil had one of their "talks".
She saw the Beemer one other time too. At the funeral. It was the only one there that wasn't family, the driver being a boy who claimed to be Billy's old teammate. Barely a friend. But barely friends don't go to funerals, not when hardly anyone was in attendance. Susan never questioned it, learned a long time ago that some secrets were safer hidden away. But she knew.
She knew that car, and she knew the driver of that car took care of Billy in all the ways his family couldn't. So yeah, maybe she's concerned for her daughter, but she knows Max is in good hands.

Steve: Why are you here? Are you stalking me?
Billy: Not everything is about you, Harrington. Maybe it’s time to stop being so self centered.
Steve:
Steve: You’re literally at my house, Hargrove! This is my fucking backyard and you’re swimming in my pool!
Billy: Well shit, you live here? Nice place, pretty boy.

Thoughts on Steve and Billy having each other’s jobs? Like, Billy winds up working at Scoops Ahoy and Steve ends up as a lifeguard. I’ve seen the idea floated around before and I’m curious about your thoughts on it
Ooooooh good question!
First of all, I am absolutely positive that upon seeing Billy in that sailor get up, Max straight up roasts him, calling him Popeye and reminding him to eat his spinach.
Billy threatens to tell Lucas about the time she lit a carrot on fire because she thought it was a cigarette (she wanted to be like her big brother).
Steve would high key be worried about getting sun burnt, and he's already got kids to look after, so I don't think he would have any issue keeping anyone in line. I think he'd be nicer than Billy at first, but even the nicest people have their breaking points.
The sailor uniform would probably be a little snug around Billy's thighs and ass, so at least it doesn't hide his best features. The hat however sends him into orbit. His hair is like a plant to him, and that hat would not only hide it, but mess with it. Max giddy teases that his hair "looks like a rats nest" so at least no one will see his bad hair days.
Which is purpostrous. Billy Hargrove simply never has bad hair days 😉
Steve has to shave his chest hair so that he can apply sunblock everywhere (and I mean everywhere).
Billy immediately connects with Robin (they share inside jokes about the customers). Robin likes to keep score of every single time Billy loses it and gives indecisive patrons a piece of his mind.
Billy would be the type to dramatically throw his hat on the ground and say "I quit" and come back the next day ready to serve the public.
Billy might be a bit awkward at first with kids, but when Erica Sinclair enters Scoops Ahoy... he's met an equal. Erica keeps the younger kids in line for Billy, and in exchange he gets her free Scoops. Robin turns a blind eye to their little scheme.
Steve recently saw Jaws, so everything that looks like a shark fin has him yelling frantically for everyone to exit the pool. This has happened five times within the first two hours of his shift.
Billy has been caught multiple times licking Jason Carver's ice cream before giving it to him. Robin lets it happen.
Steve makes sure everyone has on sunscreen, and will drag you out of the pool if he didn't see you apply any. Don't ask how he knows, he just does.
If he sees anyone eating or peeing in his pool, he "sentences" them to mandatory reflection time (aka sitting by his chair and watching their friends have fun while they read the lifeguard manual front to back until the sun sets).

Lmao its me again 😃🔫
Did my ask about paper towns go through? My internet is flaky as shit 💀
And don't feel rushed to answer these ❤️
Consider: Billy annoying Steve not just out of love, but like almost as a test. Like he's saying "this is what you get if you love me" and "get out while you still can". He can't fully grasp the fact that Steve loves him- and that all Steve wants from him is to be. Just be.
Max walking in on Billy talking to himself in the mirror (he's trying out pick up lines for Steve)
Steve forgetting to pick the kids up from the arcade, and he drives over, only to find them playing games with Billy Hargrove, who actually has a real smile on his face. The kids are laughing with him, and Steve would very much like to take a picture of this. Billy sees Steve staring, and backs away from the kids, smile faltering. He starts to apologize to Steve, and Steve holds his hand up. Billy flinches a little, which Steve also picks up. He doesn't know when he started seeing, really seeing Billy Hargrove. Steve tries to put him at ease, taking him aside and telling him he was just surprised, and that the kids were having fun. Billy doesn't believe him, and Max (a sister knows) is the first to walk up to him and say "we should do this again sometime. You're a lot more fun than Steve." Steve can't find it in him to defend himself because Billy has a stunned, giddy look on his face like a kid in a candy store. Like he's struck gold. Steve has money but he's quite certain that Billy Hargroves happiness is something he would choose over all the money in the world
billy beaming because his sister said she actually enjoyed hanging out with him has me in a chokehold
bro that's so fucking cute
every time billy "annoys" steve, steve just rolls his eyes with a small smile, before kissing billy's nose or cheek and going back to whatever he was doing. leaving the smile on his face so billy knows he didn't kiss him to shut him up, and he genuinely loved billy.
their small moments are so precious to me.
when max walks in on billy talking to himself she teases him about it, and tells steve when she made billy take her and steve to a diner to eat.
billy glared at her and took her fries, expecting steve to make fun of him too, but when he finally looks, steve is staring at billy with such love and admiration that billy actually stops functioning for a minute.
steve's chest feeling so warm, because billy felt like he had to hype himself in the mirror
they defiantly fuck that night
