thank you for such a comprehensive answer! does make me wonder though — the game clearly has no qualms with saying that akechi did kill people directly and did cause deaths indirectly (e.g. the bus incident explicitly stated to have caused fatalities). so why on earth does p5 say the subway train derailment caused no deaths?? this is probably a very weird detail to zero in, but i feel like a heavier train in an enclosed space carrying more people than a bus is much more dangerous. ngl it broke my immersion on my first playthrough a little lol
I know what you mean, lol. Tbh, Akechi is obviously intended to be sympathetic—to be the worst case example of what happens when a kid is exploited by rotten adults and has nobody to help them.
This is why there are so many parallels between his tragic backstory and the stories of a lot of the PTs—he has Futaba's abusive family background, Ryuji's single mom, Yusuke's orphanhood and exploitative father figure, Haru's terrible father, and I'm sure there's something there for Makoto as well.
This is why, at the end of the engine room, he's met not with condemnation but with grace and understanding. This is why, though he does feel sorry for himself at the end and mourn what he's lost, he doesn't squirm and beg and justify himself like the earlier palace bosses—with the exception of Sae. This is why he gets a dramatic self-sacrifice and gets to come back as an antihero, who goes all-out to save the world at the cost of his life in passing, because it's in his personal interests to do so. Akechi is intended to have been sinned against as much, or more, than he has sinned.
At the end of the day, Akechi is a Phantom Thief, even though he's not really on the team, doesn't align with their motives, and almost nobody really likes him—just like them, he's a kid who was placed in an impossible situation, and they all get that. Even while they understand the reality of who he is and what he's done.
This raises the complicated "is he a victim" question again, of course, and the reality is that he's both a victim and perpetrator—like, of course, most criminals. Akechi isn't special. His backstory lets us understand what he's done; it doesn't undo it—and he knows that.
So what's going on, if I can go all Doylian for a second, is that there's an attempt to soft-soap the reality of what Akechi does—to keep him sympathetic. He doesn't shoot people in real life, for instance (with two notable attempted exceptions)—he gives them "mental shutdowns", giving him a layer of insulation from not only the physical reality of murder, but the moral reality of it.
Like the moment he sees Futaba unexpectedly in Leblanc, and ends up chattering oh shit, you're Wakaba Isshiki's— Like the moment on 10/11 that he walks up to Sae to see what she has on her laptop, and it's the Okumura death video, and he nearly vomits; he claps a hand over his eyes, and only then moves it to cover his mouth.
This is the reason he's so visibly unsettled a lot of the time in the interrogation room, why he stares at that dead guard wide-eyed for so long, and stares at dead "Joker" for so long during that cutaway to Sojiro that the gun stops smoking. He is—and we are—almost always insulated from the reality of his acts. tl;dr: you aren't meant to have to think too much about what it means that the pretty boy is a murderer and terrorist, if you don't want to. And that's fine! There is no wrong way to understand the game, no wrong way to play. A huge part of interpreting a work of fiction is what we bring to it ourselves.
But if you want to dig into that reality, it is there to be found. The fact that psychotic breakdowns obviously can be fatal, that Akechi performs them for Shido from the start, from two years before canon. That he performs so many of them that he becomes a detective, to make sure they're properly "cleaned up" himself. The fact that he makes two of the Phantom Thieves orphans. That Shido considers "proper use of the Metaverse" to be eliminating those in his way. That he sells Akechi's services to anyone suitably wealthy and controllable he can find. That, at the start of the game, all of Tokyo is terrified of this plague of accidents, of psychotic breakdowns, and that, per Sae, the incidents have been going on at least since Wakaba Isshiki died—two years before canon.
You also have things like the fact that he clearly negotiates what he does, as you can see in the post-interrogation room conversations with Shido—he can talk his way out of kill orders, or postpone them, as long as he doesn't push it, and he does this. There's no reason to think this isn't part of their dynamic all along. Shido manipulates Akechi with praise, sure, but Akechi also manipulates Shido as much as he can get away with.
There's also the SIU Director, on 7/10, complaining about how "he" (Akechi) is insufficiently brutal and doesn't come up with usably brutal plans. On the other hand, Akechi will, later, come up with the vicious detail of the plan to murder Joker in the interrogation room; that's his plan. He's told what to do (we join that incriminating phone call conveniently halfway), but he comes up with the details himself. He's on an arc, albeit one that isn't always obvious, and a large part of it is that Joker is slowly driving him out of his mind.
I just think Akechi is way more interesting, and that his manner and behaviour make far more sense, if he has done a lot of these things. The main thing that draws my eye is the visible lack of response he has to the atrocities he causes. Going back to that nice conversation you both have on 7/11, you know what he's almost certainly just done there? He's triggered the Goodness Foods car crash, which the evening news will report takes place at 8am on 7/11.
(and writing about this clarified so many things that it, again, became its own post oops.)
The crash kills four people. By the time you're on the train to school, the news is reporting this. Akechi seems completely fine with it all, better than fine—except there are tiny suggestions of something else, if you squint, something far below the numbness to what he does and what he's become; far below the bright surface. Something that will later be riveted in disbelief to the dead guard on the floor of the interrogation room.
That's interesting.

𓆩♡𓆪 when you're ready ; nanase haruka 𓆩♡𓆪
Tumblr media
request: hello! I hope you're doing good!! I'm not sure if I'm doing this right ... I love your work and writing style and I wanna request a soft Haruka nanase fluff, please? where the reader takes care of him when he's sick and he realises that tbh he's really loved and cared for, or something along the lines of that.
summary: neither you or haru were someone who expressed much through words, so the thought that you were dating each other amazed you at times. Regardless, you found other ways to express you admiration for him, even if he struggled to return the feelings. It finally hit him how much love you've been showering him and he wanted to let you know, just how much he was thankful of being loved by someone like you.
pairing: time skip!haruka nanase x female!reader
genre: established relationship, fluff
warning: reader shows motherly figure
a/n: I was listening to When you're ready by Shawn Mendes and suddenly got inspired to write something similar. From all the dramas and anime I've seen, the male is almost always the one expressing their devotion and willingness to wait for the female to express or return their feelings, but what if, the roles are switched?
Tumblr media
"So you're telling me," You opened your door, being greeted by the Kisumi with his cheerful, innocents smile. "you got into a snow fight?" Crossing you arms, you could see Haru hiding behind Kisumi's figure, avoiding your angered eyes.
"It was a just a friendly snowball fight to bring back out childhood days." The bright male shrugged his shoulders, not finding a problem.
You leaned at the door frame. "But I asked Haru to help me get some vegetables for dinner?"
"Oh... He didn't mention anything about that when I asked him." You mentally face palmed. Some times you wonder if you're dealing with a child or young adult when it comes to Kisumi. "He told me he's finding the tree of doom." You froze, trying to make sense of what the salmon pink haired just said. Before you could question him further, he turned around to face Haru, where your eyes almost jumped out of its sockets. He was standing there, shirtless.
"So let me explain what happened." Kisumi read your expression but before he was able to start. You grabbed Haru's arm, pulling him back instead. "Or Haru could do the explaining." You closed the door on Kisumi, yelling a goodbye and thanks as you continued to dragged your nearly frozen lover to the bathroom, running the warm bathwater. His hand was freezing but he remained quiet. He took in your figure, swishing your hand in the water, trying to get the right temperature. You were cooking dinner and wanted to add some vegetables and include some fiber but when you opened his fridge, it there was only fish, canned fish, frozen fish or, well, more fish. You kindly asked if Haru could quickly run to the store to grab some broccoli, which he hesitated at first but gave in, knowing that you've been trying to get him to consume more veggies for his health.
You were more open and vocal compared to Haru which was surprising when he accepted your feeling upon your confession. You were someone that wasn't afraid to speak up, to say what's on your mind and in particular, to let Haru know how much you loved him. Haru was someone who was the complete opposite of you but you didn't mind that from him. You understood his quiet and stoic nature yet regardless, you found yourself falling head over heads for how passionate about his goal and his drive for success. You wanted to do nothing more but to support him and let him know what no matter what happens, you'll always be by his side. Though deep down inside, sometimes you wished that Haru would be more expression or affective but you pushed away that selfish desire, trying to cherish what you have now, and letting Haru decide when he's ready to step out of his comfort zone.
Haru secretly admired your strong mentality and how you carried yourself. You never failed to impress him with the things you do and how determined you are when you have your mind set on things or towards the people you truly cherish and love. Haru had to admit, he was sometimes jealous of you. Jealous of how you can say whatever is on your mind and to his surprised, he sometimes wondered, why did you choose to date him, of all people? But he doesn't dare to ask. Haru was beyond thankful to have you in his life. You never pushed him out his limits or made him change who his is. You’ve always been supporting him, encouraging him to do the best he can be, and no matter what happens, he was always number one in your heart. He tries very hard to be more expressive towards you but unfortunately, all the times he's been practicing in the mirror just isn't enough for him to express it in person as he always end up backing our last minute. You have reminded him multiple times, assuring him that there wasn't any need to push himself to do the things he weren't comfortable with and he wouldn't be more in love with how understanding you are however, it didn't feel right. It didn't feel right that you were always the one giving, and he was only receiving. It didn't feel right that it almost felt one-sided and it most definitely didn't feel right that if Haru didn't say what he's been wanting to say for so long, one day, you might just slip off his fingers.
"Here, the water is at the perfect temperature for you." You swirled your hand in the water, feeling the warmth. You shook off the excess water before wiping it on your apron. Haru quietly steps in, letting out a relieved sigh as he sinks in, closing his lids. You kneeled outside the tub beside him, observing his features and just how handsome he looked. You couldn't help but to trace your fingers over his features, as his eyes slowly open to meet yours. "Haru..." You whispered, his motions underwater almost overlapping your voice. He takes a hold of your wrist, nuzzling his damp cheek against it.
"I'm sorry-"
You cut off his apology. "Trees of doom? Really? Last week you called them veggie farts." You questioned with a soft chuckle. "Haru, you really need to fix this undressing habit of yours. Especially in the winter, when it's like -20C outside! You're going to get sick!" You started your nag. Haru couldn't help but to softly smile at your furrowed brows when you expressed your worries.
"Y/N." He tried to get your attention. "I'm not going to get sick." He reassured.
"If I hadn't dragged you back into the house any faster, you'll freeze up into ice!" You pouted.
"Kisumi started it." He went on explaining how he saw Kisumi and Makoto together to buy gifts for Makoto's younger siblings. In your part, you would say Haru just jealous but you kept quiet, knowing you won't hear the end of it from him. "So yeah, Kisumi provoked me."
You giggled at his angered expression. He truly does cherish the people he loves you thought to yourself. "But that doesn't mean you have to strip half naked." You try to prove your point. "Playing in the snow half naked is just out of the question!" You stood up about to head out back into the kitchen when he got a hold of your arm.
"I told you to not worry." He gave you a peck on the forehead. His lips were still cold. "I'm not going to get sick."
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ ☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙
You carried a bowl of warm water, placing it on the nightstand as you dipped a towel, twisting away the excess water before gently wiping away the sweat on your feverish lover. "What a surprised. I'm always swimming in cold water and all, how did I caught a cold now?" He had his lids closed as you wiped across his forehead. His voice was soft and weak.
"I'm not surprised. Just a little disappointed." He didn't have to open his eyes to already know the expression you had on your face. Your face was filled with worry the moment you noticed Haru shivering, even after stealing your blankets. "At least your fever is coming down" He tiredly lets out a hum. You kneeled down beside the bed, resting your head on your arm as you stared at his face, wincing time to time from muscle soreness. When Haru gets sick, his whole body almost shuts down. You felt his hand moving, searching for yours as you intertwined your fingers in his, kissing the top of his hand. "You know how worried I get when you're sick Haru." You rubbed your thumb against his skin.
"I know..." He slowly fluttered his eyes opened, turning to face you. His lips were paled and his eyes were filled of tiredness. "I'm sorry, Y/N." You reached for head, gently patting his head.
"Try getting some sleep, alright? I'm going to make some congee for you." You stood up, snuggling him in before you quietly closed the door, heading to the kitchen to start making his meal. Kisumi called to apologize and to check up on Haru to see if he's alright since he also caught a cold. You called his coach to let him know Haru's condition and that he'll need a few days off to recover.
You added to vegetables into the boiling pot before opening the cabinets to see if there's any medication left and too your surprised, you were all out. Tippy toeing back into your shared room, you quietly changed into some warmer clothing before walking back out, quickly glancing at Haru who was peacefully sleeping. You opened the door to a gust of wind and snow blowing into the house. You totally forgot about the snowstorm today but Haru's health was your priority.
You hurried to the convivence store to grab some medication along with snacks that Haru liked before heading home when the smell of something burning alarmed you. You forgot to turn off the stove before you left. You dropped your bag and ran over to the stove, turning off the heat and removing the lid before it overflows when you suddenly felt a shock of pain on your palm. You burnt yourself from the pot lid. Dropped the lid, forgetting that Haru was possibly still sleeping and ran your hand under water, hissing at the contact with the water. You mixed the congee, letting out a sigh that it wasn't burnt. Removing your jacket you went to get the first aid kit to apply some ointment onto your palm before wrapping it. It had a tingling sensation but you needed to make sure Haru eats and takes his medicine. You sliced up some fruit before placing them on a tray, heading to his room when you saw him in the hallway.
"Did something happen?" Haru's complexion looked a lot better after sleeping. His eyes travelled to the tray your holding.
"Oh, it's nothing. Let's go back to the room so you can eat and sleep after."
"I'll eat in the living room. I'm feeling a lot better after sleeping." He takes the tray from you, carrying it to the coffee table before taking a seat on the floor, you sitting beside him. He started eating, letting out a smile as your cooking never fails to impress him. "It's really good."
"Eat more then." You smiled, unconsciously running your hands through his hair. He stops and turns to you.
"What happened to your hand?" He takes a hold of your wrist, eyes widen at they covered palm. You tried pulling it back but his grip was too strong, even for someone who's sick.
"I just burnt myself a little when I was cooking, it's nothing." You tried to reassure him but it doesn't look like it got to him.
"Did you go out?" You followed his eyes behind you to the bag you abandon on the floor when you went to save the congee. "Where did you go in this weather?"
"We were out of medicine so I went to go get some at the convivence store." You stood up to get the bag, taking out the medicine
"Didn't you hear about the snowstorm today?" You looked up to his furrowed brows. "There was even a warning."
"Don't you worry. When it comes to the both of us, you know who dresses more accordingly to the weather." He knew he couldn't disagree, because you were always reminding him to bring a jacket when it's chilly or an umbrella when it rained. "I needed to get you medicine, that's why."
"You could've waited until the storm passes."
"When you're running with a fever and in pain? You know I'll never let that happen." His head dropped in defeat, feeling a little disappointed that you went out in such a horrible weather just to get medication. "Haru, you know how much you mean to me." You held his cheeks, lifting his face so you could look into his ocean blue eyes. "It doesn't matter what time of day, what weather condition, or whatever the problem is, you are always my number one priority." It then hits him. Just how much you cared for him. How much you treasure and adore him. The realization finally comes to Haru, and his heart couldn't stop glowing with love.
"Thank you." He softly smiles. You could feel his cheeks heating up as you automatically felt his forehead.
"Oh no, is your fever coming back again?!" You started to panic but Haru gently places his hand on your lap, trying to get you to calm down.
"Y/N..." He looked to the side, trying to organize his thoughts. "I... You are my number one priority also." You froze, trying to recollect what he just said.
Nervously laughing you gently slapped his shoulder. "Ok Haru, I think this fever is really getting you to. I'm going to get some water so you can eat your medicine. You turn to stand up before landing back on the ground. Haru's arms wrapped you as felt his warmth on your back. Your heart was pounding from his intimate actions. This was definitely something he would not do. Something way out of his comfort zone. "Haru? Are you okay?"
He rests his chin on your shoulder. "You've always been patient with me." You slowly nodded. "You also never failed to let me know how much you love me." His grip around you waist tightens. "If only you knew the amount of times I've tried to do the same." You fingers lightly touch his arm. "I know you told me that you'll wait for when I'm ready. And after all this time, I finally realized something for myself." You quietly waited for him to finished, knowing that he's organizing his thoughts. "I've come to realize just how much I am in love with you."
"Haru you don't-"
"No, Y/N. You don't understand how much I've been wanting to let you know. The amount of times I whispered it to you when you're asleep yet I still can't say it to you face to face frustrated it. The fact that whenever you told me you loved me, I hated myself for not being able to tell you I felt the same." You could hear his voice shaking and turned to face him, gently rubbing his shoulder. He slowly inched closer to your face. "I imagine myself looking to you in the eyes, deeply in love and finally letting all my feelings out for you." You couldn't help but to smile. Maybe this fever of his has him feeling more brave. "Thank you for waiting all this time, Y/N. I love you." He rests his hand on the side of your face, slowly bringing your face closer to his. His eyes staring down at your lips.
As much as you didn't want to ruin this sweet memorable moment, you covered his lips with your palm. "Take your medication and recover." You smirked as his face reddens up from embarrassment. "Then I'll let you finish what you wanted to do." You leaned up to kiss his forehead. "And promise me, no more stripping half naked." He chuckles, nodding his head obediently. You opened your arms for him to gladly fall and snuggle into.
"No matter how long. I'll always be patiently waiting for you."

Haruchiyo “I might be trigger happy” Akashi/Sanzu. Haru didn’t really listen to anybody besides Mikey. He did whatever the fuck he wanted, when and how he wanted without a care in the world.
Haru’s motto of ‘what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is also mine’ didn’t really work to well for him in his relationships because while whatever girl he’d chosen to give the time of day was giving 100 to the so called relationship, Haru did what he wanted and they never lasted.
That is until he met you. Haru had no idea how the fuck you were friends with the pet shop trio, mainly Keisuke’s mean mugging ass but he wanted you. You gave him quite the run for his money before you finally agreed to one date with him. As cliche as it was,you weren’t like the girls that he usually went for. Short, slim usually easy for him to manipulate.
You on the other hand, you didn’t buy his bullshit at all. You had walked out of the restaurant the moment he got too comfortable with the waitress and threatened to call the cops if he didn’t stop camping out in his car outside your apartment complex. He did stop camping out but only after he bought the entire complex in your name and moved in next door.
When you found out, you had made camp at Baji’s. It took him 3 months to get you to accept another date with him which his coworkers thought was odd given that Sanzu was never short on pussy but apparently yours was all he wanted now and he hadn’t even gotten it yet.
That was 3 years ago and now Sanzu was a somewhat reformed man. He was still the same crazy fucker, albeit your crazy fucker who’d gone from fucking multiple women in a week to breaking your back multiple ways in a week.
Sanzu now firmly believed in a 50/50 effort when it came to relationships mainly the one with you, fuck everyone else tbh. Which brings him to his current situation. He currently at a Bonten warehouse, he may have told a little lie when you asked where he heading off to at 3am but he’d make it up to you.
Ran had informed him that the individual he’d ask them to find was currently sitting in their club. Sanzu waited for him in the parking lot and just as he was about to cross towards the section where his car was parked, ran his ass over , twice, and then tossed him in the trunk.
Said individual is now hanging upside down in a Bonten warehouse with Haru’s trigger happy ass.
“Who the fuck are you?”
Sanzu giggles, fucking giggles. Maybe he was a bit high, you’d both indulged in some new grade of weed Kazutora was harvesting but the fact still stood that clearly he didn’t run him over hard enough.
“Who I am really isn’t important here. What’s important is that you think very hard about what I’m about to ask you cause I may just put a bullet in your skull if I don’t like it.”
“The fuck do you want?”
“Two nights ago at Luxe, at a company dinner, you made a comment towards a young woman.”
“Is that what this is about? Tha fat bitch sent you to beat me up?” The mans scoffs before spitting blood on Sanzu’s shoes.
“Ah, you remember. She has no idea that I’m doing this. I don’t like when people make my wife uncomfortable, you see, she’s taught me that a relationship should be 50/50. And for me that means that my baby wears whatever the fuck she wants and I deal with little fucks like you, who make her uncomfortable.”
Sanzu slips his gun back into the holster deciding that killing him won’t be as fun as turning him into a human vegetable. He grabs one of Rin’s baseball bats and starts using it to push the mans body like a swing set.
“I bought that pretty little outfit she wore that day and my baby was so happy until your dumbass opened your mouth. It’s been brought to my attention that this ain’t the first time either. You used to hit on my woman until you found out she had a man, then she became a “fat bitch”. “Don’t you think a size bigger would fit you better?, why you always eating?”
Sanzu didn’t understand why you didn’t tell him shit like this was happening, instead he had to hear it for himself while he was having dinner with the boys. You weren’t fat, you definitely had a fat ass but that’s besides the point. You were healthy and happy with your body so who gave this irrelevant fuck the audacity to tell you shit like that at work?
Sanzu wasn’t having it, he’d deal with the situation and every time this fucker saw you he’d turn the other direction. The first swing lands to his ribs and the scream that ripples through the air has Sanzu smiling manically.
By the time he’s finished he’s positive he’s broken enough body parts to get his message across. He has a couple lackies drop the idiot off in front of the hospital. He takes a shower before heading home. You’re wrapped up in his silk sheets, naked save for the pair of panties you’d slipped on after he had his way with you. Arms wrapped around his pillow as you slept peacefully.
Sanzu smiles as he watches you ‘cause yeahhhh he’d definitely commit murder for you.

I wonder if Ebisu's powers don't work very well with Sano. The first time I thought of this was with the whole Mii-kun getting lost and Ebi not being able to find him quickly, "isn't he supposed to have good luck, how is he losing his little brother lmao" but that could be just because plot reasons, if Mii-kun didn't get lost/ Ebisu found him quickly then Mii-kun wasn't going to meet Haru and he wasn't going to give him the protection talisman either.
He was also close to Sano when the train accident happened or when Sano fragmented Haruaki's soul into five pieces.
Tumblr media
Tbh this is more hc than anything because I really like the concept of Sano being Ebisu's weakness not only because he's his baby brother and he loves him but because literally his good luck powers don't work well on him/are canceled out by Sano being a Yakubyougami.

Italeean how are you doin? Hihihi It's been awhile VERY HAPPY FOR YOU TO REACH THAT MILESTONE, AWESOME! I wanted to join the event~ I'll pick free! as the fandom (because in other fandoms like haikyuu/MHA/genshin, I already have certain stan/bias so I'm not mentally ready for a random match, but for Free! It's a new fandom for me so just ship me with anyone lol) I'm a male! lee (not into foot tickles tho), platonic, matched with other male, and about me: I'm not really athletic tbh, and often times kinda awkward, for hobbies probably just chilling, having conversations, hanging out, hmm what else *scrolling through tumblr in secret* jk. Anyway have a nice day as always, can't wait to be matched lol, your pick will probably be my bias in this fandom so choose w i s e l y~ hohoho (just kidding) - itto anon :)
ITTO ANON MY LOVE /p 😻❤️❤️ How're you doing? It's literally so nice to see you participate in each and every one of my events and interact with me since practically day 0 🥹 I hope you'll enjoy your match-up... and thank you for choosing Free! ❤️❤️ It's always a pleasure to write for my favorite anime ❤️🍡 *enjoy this dango while reading my little work*
🔮 For this event, your match-up is... NAGISA
Tumblr media
🔮 Why did I choose him for you?
Okay who wouldn't want to be Nagisa's friend? He's a little ball of sunshine who has a nice word for everyone! I feel like a nice person like you deserves this sweetheart in his life
I'm sure he'd love your awkwardness... he'd find it super cute! Expect to get teased by him, intentionally or not
He totally would drag you to the swim club even if you're not particularly athletic. He'd bring you there just to introduce to his friends so you all can hang out together
About this... he'd be the kind of guy who shows off your laughter! He'd be like "Hey guys, listen to this!" and he'd start tickling you.
BUT... he'd go around and wreck everyone, so you wouldn't be the only one to get tickled in front of the others... this would probably lead to huge tickle fights!
He'd love to play genshin or any other games with you! I'm sure he'd want to play all the cutest characters, and you'd get all the tall men (ahem like Zhongli and Itto ahem-)
Every time you pull for a character, he'll tickle you as a ritual for good luck... and if it fails, he'll tickle you even more to cheer you up hehe~
He's a very considerate person, based on what I saw (and I watched every episode and movie of Free! so...), which means he's a great person to talk to. You could just spend the afternoon talking to each other
I think your usual hangout could be either taking a stroll while Nagisa munches on that sickeningly sweet bread, or staying home while eating candy, watching anime, playing games and just chilling and talking
I feel like he'd randomly tickle you while you hang out. Why? Because he finds your laughter super cute and he wants to hear more
I think you could help Nagisa with his studies, along with Rei... which would probably not be the easiest task, but it would always end up with sweets and talking when the hard task is done
Imagine this: you, Nagisa and the others wearing your yukatas at a summer festival, going around the stands to play games, eat delicious foods and have a great time... yours would be such a great friendship!!!
🔮 Tickle scenario
"Y/n-chaaan!" Nagisa called for you, "Come on, the water is amazing!!" He gestured you to go with him and the others for a swim. The day before, they found out that the pool was closed due to a malfunctioning of the filter, so they chose to swim in the ocean to not skip training.
Luckily, it was a Saturday, so they managed to have an actual beach day. However, Nagisa insisted to invite both you and Rin as well and spend the day with all the whole group. Rin immediately said yes at the thought of racing with Haru in the ocean, and you accepted gladly. The team had already met you and everyone was quite fond of you already.
During the training, you held the stopwatch and took their timings, and you were also the judge of Haru and Rin's race, which resulted in the umpteenth tie, but when swimming practice was over, the six of you took a quick rest and enjoyed the amazing beach.
The guys became restless quickly, though, and they couldn't resist the sweet call of the waves. In the blink of an eye, everyone was running towards the welcoming ocean again. You smiled at the sight and kept focusing on which artifacts you wanted to give to Itto... at least until Nagisa called for you.
"Umm... you can go on without me, I'm fine here!" You reassured your friend, but unfortunately for you, he wasn't having it. "Nuh uh! Nope nope nope!" He pouted, looking like an angry penguin, "You're gonna enjoy the beach, and we'll play genshin another day!" He decided with an unexpectedly authoritative tone.
You looked up to see the blonde towering over you (yes, he was towering over you despite his short stature because you were sitting on your beach towel and he was standing) and before you knew it, he had your phone between his hands. He quickly turned it off and pulled you up, surprising you with his actual strength despite his tiny figure.
"Nagisaaa" You whined, not actually minding being dragged to take a swim, "Let me go..! The water will surely be cold!" You tried to find an excuse. "The water is perfect, nice try y/n-chan~" The blonde quickly retorted, leaving you no escape.
Despite your complaints and struggles, you found yourself in the water with the others, and even if the water was cold, you were having fun. "See? I told you, the water is great!" Nagisa exclaimed while sticking out his tongue at you. He was right, but you didn't want to admit it, "Hmm... I still feel cold, the water clearly isn't warm enough!" You huffed with an exaggerated snobbish tone, just to let the blonde know that you were joking.
"Don't worry, y/n-chan, I know how to warm you up... it always works with Rei-chan!" You were a little confused, but an idea insinuated in your brain when you saw Rei blush like a tomato, as if he knew what he was talking about, and you let out a nervous giggle.
Your suspicions were confirmed when you noticed ten wiggling fingers approaching you. "No, y-you stay away from me..!" You tried to keep him at a safe distance, with scarce results, and you even tried to swim away from him. But to be honest, what were you even thinking? He caught up to you in mere seconds and trapped you in a hug.
It was adorable to Nagisa how your defenses crumbled as soon as his fingers landed on your sides. "KYAAAHAHAHA NAHAHAGISAHAHA WAHAHAIT!!" You kicked and squirmed like a fish out of water, even if you were actually in the sea, "THIHIHIS IHIHIS NAHAHAHAHAT FAHAHAIHIHIR!!!" You complained, but your squeals fell on deaf ears.
"But if you laugh and move, you'll warm yourself up!" The blonde teased while he started counting your ribs and walking his way towards your armpits. "NAHAHAGISAHAHAHAHAAA" You screeched when two fingers started circling the hollow of your underarms, slowly making their way towards the center.
"Y/n-chahahahan~" He playfully mocked you while he finally started digging in the very center of your poor armpits. In mere seconds, your face and even your ears were completely red and you had the biggest smile on your face. That's when Nagisa decided to stop, giving you time to breathe.
"Are you okay?" Makoto approached you while you recovered, "This is typical Nagisa behavior, no one has ever been able to escape him hehe" He let out an embarrassed chuckle, trying to make you feel less flustered. "Well... Nagisa should get a taste of his own medicine so he learns a lesson..." You let out a snarky grumble, always with that amused undertone that made everyone understand that you were enjoying yourself.
"Geez... you're still so salty, y/n-chan... I guess I didn't tickle you long enough..." the magenta-eyed guy stated before swimming towards you pretending to be a shark.
"Nononono Nagisa wa-WAHAHAHAHAIT!!!"

Thoughts from watching the ATLA live action!
I initially wanted this to all be one post but. It got too long and also Tumblr accidentally posted it once instead of just drafting as I asked while I was writing it and I had to reconstruct the whole thing so I'm just going to make one post per episode I think.
So, episode 1!
Oh my god the show really opens on just showing the letters "Capital City", genuinely that's kind of hilarious?? I kinda always thought of it as Caldera City collectively because Capital City sounds dumb (very The Hunger Games of them, ngl) but like... I do recognize that it's only technically the rich district- even so I feel like maybe they should've reimagined that one in particular because honestly it's always been confusing for the capital to have two cities in it (Harbor City is the other one, basically the poor people district). Anyway not a big deal overall, just... Kind of funny to not change this
Truly a weird way to start the show with just some random Earth Kingdom revolutionaries, but based on the fact that I've heard they're not in it I'm just headcanoning it to be Haru and Tyro lmao otherwise it's just. A truly bizarre choice
Oh never mind they're??? Opening before the war??? They literally have Ozai in the first season, why wouldn't they just have a menacing Sozin in a war room, with like maybe some very subtle hints to him grieving someone who died disagreeing with him, and him going forward with it anyway? Idk it's genuinely very strange to open a show with such iconic and recognizable characters by focusing on some random mostly irrelevant people you're never gonna see again because the story takes place a hunder years in the future. I mean, it was a cool fight scene (when I could see it lmao, I wish it wasn't so dark- would've looked great in a cinema but this should have been made for people watching on home screens) but?? Why should I care about these people or what they're doing, either as a veteran who knows they don't matter or as someone new to the story who DOESN'T know that they're never going to see them again?
Oh shit wait, AGAIN??? They keep zagging on me lmao this is like. Exactly what I wanted!! I read they started things off with a lot of fighting and showing the war so I thoght this was what it was but no!! The random guy meets non other than Sozin... Who genuinely looks incredible and does a fantastic job at portraying exactly what I wanted!! I think there's something in the eyes specifically? Like, there's a certain sadness mixed with idealism there, which works really well with how determined, calculating and cold he otherwise is. He feels 100% like the sort of guy who'd reasonably be the ancestor to the mess that is the Royal Family we see during the rest of the show, and I'm genuinely really happy about it! Sozin feels like the sort of madman who believes in his own just and it's perfect, like, the exact vibe I got from him in the original!
Is Gyatso talking to Bryke rn or...?? Lmao fr Aang never learned any of the things he mentions which is why he was a bad Avatar, and why in the end I don't like canon OG Aang. Addressing it in the first episode is extremely bold of the LA tbh, but you know I love to see it! Also everyone was talking about how Aang wasn't silly enough, but literally in the OG he was too silly and never learned to take responsibility or work with others so?? This Aang that is already blending a whimsical air with what seems like a degree of emotional intelligence the original lacked is!! Such an improvement in my eyes, actually! I'm hoping they manage to properly resolve these things this time around, but already their direction with him just within minutes of meeting him feels a lot more palatable to me. Also they rewrote that scene in a way that makes Gyatso infinitely more likeable because now he actually GETS it, OG Gyatso was a kind man but in the end... He was wrong, he coddled Aang too much. Here, in a universe where the Air nomads want to help defend the rest of the world, he recognizes that while Aang is needed, he genuinely isn't capable of helping yet which!! Also feels like an improvement in terms of co-nation relations, it feels like there actually used to be a harmony of sorts before! It will help make the Air Nomads feel less out of place and "out of sight out of mind" in the bad way they were in the original. The Air Nomads already planning to get involved also feels like a way to rid Aang of his idealistic and childhish views of his own culture in a much more direct way than the more subtle approach just showing Gyatso surrounded by skeletons of people he likely killed. Also, again, saw people complain aboit the Air Nomads wanting to get involved being ooc and?? Okay, so? Have you maybe considered that them being so insular that their loss was barely felt in the original whenever they didn't need to make Aang have an emotional moment was a bad thing??? Like, I get that it isn't in line with their characterization, but personally? Them choosing not to get involved in an attempted genocide was always a bad look tbh, and as far as I'm concerned, this is a fix and a way to make them look much better than just like. Hermits unconcerned with the world- they care, they want to help! Honestly overall everyone in the Air Nomads looks so much better here, this feels like a net good in terms of like... Idk Air Nomad publicity lmao. Also, showing the different temples coming together to celebrate is!! Incredible, I wholeheartedly love that addition to the lore!
Ngl tbh so far this feels like a fanfic I'd read, in like. Literally the best possible way
Yo the "Gyatso and Roku were friends" theory looking realll possible rn with that "you will always be my friend" line 👀
Ah so I see what people meant about Aang's characterization in this episode being a bit tell-y rather than show-y, that's fair. That said, it was a really nice scene that established the bond between him and Appa quite well imo! Also now I'm genuinely curious as to whether they'll have him get a bit drunk with power like in the original considering the focus they're putting on how much he needs to NOT do that!
To everyone saying Aang running away was important and should not have been cut- no, it fucking wasn't, it was one of his biggest unresolved character flaws that got ignored when the destroyed his character arc in season 3 and I'm fucking glad it's gone. I do find it interesting that here Aang basically only just finds out about being the Avatar before getting frozen rather than having a bit more time to get used to the idea and see how it changes things for him- it makes it that in a way, this Aang has both a lot more and a lot less baggage! Essentially his entire journey of discovery of what it means to be pronounced the Avatar will happen alongside people who never knew him as anything but, it's an extremely finite and dramatic closing of the chapter of his life where he wasn't the Avatar- it kinda shows he has no room for confusion anymore, he must now become The Avatar because that's essentially his people's last request of him. It's a very different sort of vibe from "I wasn't willing", it's "I wasn't ready", and that is much more easily fixable in a shorter show! Also the og literally just "solved" the willingness issue by having him enjoy the benefits and refuse to do any of the work so. Not sad to see it go at all
Battlefield Sozin?! Firebending rockets?! Wilhelm scream?! Cool battle scene all around tbh, really heartbreakin and difficult to watch, which means they did a good job with it! I do still wish it was brighter though lmao
Uhh forgot to type anything for a while because I was crying but. Yeah I generally really liked the portrayal of life on Wolf Cove! There are definitely some very noticeable changes with our two leads here, and I actually don't think they're necessarily bad, they just feel very strange and might take a bit to get used to. Katara actually isn't passive, which is weird considering that's how a lot of people described her? She's just extremely cautious. All of her defining traits feel like they're still there, but some of them do feel like they're lying a bit under the surface due to her situation which! Makes sense as an alternative way of writing her! Sokka genuinely feels like such a big brother here, I like the emphasis on his sense of responsibility and how he doesn't quite know how to be a real leader yet- it goes very well with a Katara who desperately wants to be a fighter but can't and has to try and blend in. Both of them have very clear aspirations and the traits that will eventually allow them to get to where they want to be, but they're very far from reaching them at the start. A lot of the scenes do feels kinda awkward tbh, but idk, I think they do a fine enough job at what they attempt to.
Now, hearing that Katara wasn't the one to break Aang out in a fit of anger wasn't a deal breaker for me actually, but? Honestly the way he gets out is just needlessly confusing here, genuinely unclear if Katara did it or he just... Idk somehow reacted to another bender's presence or whatever. Idk, it felt extremely weird and I think just like? A bit of clarification here as to what happened could've saved this scene without it having to happen via anger if that's the way they wanna go with Katara, and specifically her relationship with Sokka (which, again, does really feel authentic and well done here imo!)
Aang saying that Katara is the only one who tried to fight for him is fucking wild, but I guess that's the impression he got given that Gyatso told him he had to go away and he didn't hear the meeting about him here. Still a wild thing for him to say, felt really weird right alongside Sokka being the bravest person he ever met. Idk that whole exchange was off and awkward and just... Strange
Iroh doing his best to help and teach Aang when he can is very sweet. Idk how to feel about how hard he's already going in on the whole "your daddy doesn't love you" thing with Zuko tbh, because it does make Zuko appear much less lost when he's got someone who's giving him the answers rather than leading him to them, it's kinda a book 2 vibe from them? It's strange. Also a straight talking Iroh feels so strange in general, literally his only "eccentric" quality so far is loving Jasmine tea and very clearly not being down with the war, it's... Certainly A Choice, but not one I'm really enjoying so far tbh
There's something really interesting about Katara immediately relaxing and allowing herself to be silly and mischievous around Sokka here, it's kind of a flip from their dynamic in the original but there's something really fun and sweet about seeing those hidden aspects of her come out around the one person she knows and trusts to accept and protect her just as fiercely as she would him. It's definitely different, but I'm genuinely really enjoying the unique spin they put on their relationship and how it correlates with their own individual personalities and how they perceive and present themselves.
Taking the burden of always being the only one who can bring Aang out of the Avatar State away from Katara feels like a big relief. Also in general I like the way they still kept Aang's attachment to Gyatso and his parallels with Katara, while also solidifying Sokka and Aang friendship which wasn't really... A thing in the original? Having Sokka protect and reach out to Aang feels much more personal here in a way than it did originally, I think maybe the weird scene where Aang praises them kinda worked to serve that? Idk I've read people saying they don't feel like a family but more like friends here but. They never did in the original in season 1 either tbh. If anything there's a sense of everyone being equal here which the original lacked in places, I like how both Sokka and Katara support and save Aang in equal measure here and how they look out for each other as well. Aang is kinda naturally a mess this whole episode but here's hoping he returns the favor for them for once in the future!
Edit: dammit Tumblr literally just did it again I didn't mean to post this yet, but I'm kind of at the end of the episode so fuck it, it stays I don't wanna reconstruct it in the drafts again. If I have anything to add it'll go after this.

Hey, I was wondering how do you feel about Logan and Haru’s relationship?
I wasn’t expecting an ask after my post so fast lol, hi
Logan and Haru honestly radiate brother energy to me.
I know that’s not what a lot of people will wanna hear, but it's my own opinion and if someone can’t handle that, they need to accept that not everyone sees the same thing as them. This post is just gonna be me elaborating on why and also how I perceive the two.
Before I get accused of ignorance or anything worse than that- I do have gay family members, I was in a major that was filled with predominantly gay or bi men (honestly a surprise to me for some reason, and I had close friends growing up during my grade school years who never had an issue expressing themselves or hiding who they were (we grew up in a more accepting community).
The ship between the boys is neat, but I don’t ship it, just like how I wouldn’t let myself ship Mi-An and Elsie, but I can see the ship after Elsie’s character growth. Or how I’d actually love to see Amirah with Grace.
I ship based primarily upon if they’d fit together psychologically and what their dynamics scream to me. I don’t like to randomly throw characters together just because it’s new or A looks like this and B is the opposite. I don’t believe looks make a relationship- they can make a trope, but a trope only works if characters actually mesh well together. It’s a common misconception I’ve seen over the years.
But in the case of Logan and Haru- they scream found family and brothers to me.
Coming from someone who has witnessed or experienced found family, it’s actually something beautiful and profound. My uncle isn’t really my uncle, my abuelo’s family took him in when he was laboring away as a kid and sleeping in a cargo shipping container. My sister-in-law didn’t click well with her own family but is perfect in ours and she is one of us. My dad’s friend grew up being babysat by a woman across the street and that whole family essentially became hers despite having a sister and parents of her own.
Found family does exist- and it’s often a concept not considered.
Tbh, the two of them remind me of Sylvain and Felix from Fire Emblem: Three House. Which is another case I think is found family/brother bond over romantic.
While Haru does seem to understand Logan and he seems like the balance to him- that’s often a case for siblings. Siblings can be opposites. My sister and I are, my brother and I are- and my brother and sister are the same as one another.
I don’t think Haru could stand dating Logan’s ass BECAUSE he knows him. There’s nothing wrong with Logan, but something in their dynamic hints that Logan can be a bit annoying. I hc him as pestering Haru when he’s bored while Haru is trying to work on something.
And while Logan appreciates Haru helping to guide him, that he makes up for the areas Logan lacks in and vice versa, I can see Logan getting into a tiffy with some of his issues as well. Not like a relationship style of learning to accept one another’s flaws and areas they lack in, more like I can see the two annihilating the shit out of one another in a ruthless sibling like way. And it’d be hilarious and they’d forgive one another because they know they’ll do it again. There’s acceptance and accountability held between the two.
I think the softness they have with one another stems from grief, but also their personalities.
Logan, while blunt and to the point, is caring and protective of those he sees as family. It’s evident in his lines and voice that there’s shifts the more you progress with him unlike some characters (no disrespect to them). Logan is a survivalist who knows he has to accept his own shortcomings and ask for help when he can’t do it himself- because how else will he achieve what he needs done? He’s cocky, but he’s honest and knows he needs humility to stay alive.
I do not believe his gentle demeanor towards his friend is anything romantically coded. He seems to speak like that to some others as well in Act III from what I’ve seen so far.
As for the concept of them being Andy’s parents- while it’s evident that Logan is Andy’s father figure despite the man being young, Haru and Andy seem like siblings as well to me. They honestly give off the vibes of the brothers from Big Hero 6.
Both are incredibly intelligent, both have a similar personality to that of the character they correspond to in the movie, and one leaves so the other can achieve things by himself. Just, in this case, Haru isn’t gonna be in an explosion like the brother was. Haru helped hone in on Andy’s brewing intelligence, but it’s obvious to both men that Andy needs proper schooling as well and to grow up as a kid. Andy cannot follow in either of their shadows, Andy cannot become the next Haru. Haru even radiates big brother energy and is less guiding in Andy’s life like Logan is (I.e. when he tries to do what’s best for him and his safety).
So, in conclusion, I think Logan and Haru are that of found family and brothers. I don’t read any romantic connotations from them or hints of it. And while Logan serves the role of Andy’s father, Haru seems to be that of the big brother. Any “hints” of them being that way, to me, is just this heavy set of shared guilt and burdens between the two of them. I think their need to protect Sandrock and avenge Howlett, as well as taking in Andy, helped to alleviate them in a way, but it’s a dark moment in their lives that is gonna be between the two of them.
I have some friends within this fandom who ship the two, and that’s honestly more than fine. We all see and perceive things a different way. I respect them and thankfully, I receive it back. I worry for this ship to become similar within the fanbase akin to Felix x Sylvain or Dean x Castiel in terms of fans arguing with one another, and I know it’ll occur either way because some are strongly for the ship, and some are vehemently against it. My only hope is that it doesn’t reach that level and we can respect one another’s opinions.

hiya this is @/bexnana coming at you with a second muse: jihun, a former idol who's trying his very best to debut again. he was in a somewhat popular rookie group before the face of the group got into a scandal which led to their disbandment. i’ll leave more details under the cut as well as some plots i had in mind, so please like this post if you’d like to plot! (discord/twitter available upon request ! )
backstory
(tw / cheating )
lived a relatively normal life until one day he attended an idol concert and it changed the trajectory of his life forever
decided from then on to single-mindedly pursue the idol life
his parents were accepting of it as long as he kept up with his studies, but that all went out the window when his father cheated on his mother and the family fell apart
during the divorce, he had the choice of staying with either parent, and his one-track mind chose his father thanks to promises of financially supporting his dream
unfortunately, his mother was unable to provide that for him
he buried all those complicated feelings away deep in his mind and solely focused on training
his hard work paid off when he got signed to a company, where he found his first love
as they trained together, feelings grew, and eventually they debuted together in a 7 person group
it was looking good for them, but right before their first comeback, an article was released exposing their center/face of the group for cheating on his girlfriend
not only was he dating, but he was also playing with multiple women
the group went under fire, and the company decided to cut their losses and put them into hiatus, before eventually disbanding them
it was too much to bear for his crush who completely cut contact with all the members, including him, thus ending his first love
currently
still chasing the dream and auditioning everywhere he can find
it's a fine line between being positive and grasping at straws, and he is performing a balancing act
he's pretending to not notice the cracks in his life
thinks that this is all karma for not supporting his mom during the divorce and choosing his dad
tries his best to keep up positive attitude towards others
he is a yearner. he yearns
other details and likes/dislikes can be found here
plots (open to everything but these are specific ones i’d love filled)
ex(es) / they would've broken up fairly recently, the relationship lasted some time between the disbandment of his group and current time (~3 years). he's romantic but very obviously preoccupied with his dreams and lost love to really make anyone feel cherished
(ex-)fans / people who are/were fans of the idol "haru" from the rookie group that debuted and disbanded 3 years ago. he doesn't expect to have any fans anymore especially this late into being a civilian
ex-coworkers / people he's met and encountered during his time in the idol industry including trainees etc
one night stands / he's a pretty romantic guy but since the disbandment he's been feeling more and more empty, and what better way to fix that than losing himself in someone else for a night (has the potential to evolve into fwbs but a decent amount of trust has to be there)
fellow dreamers / idol wannabes..! they encourage each other and maybe make each other worse tbh
honestly open to just about anything, let me know!

With a Resounding "Yes", It's Time for Paranormasight VA Headcanons!
I'm going to be an oddball and switch between Japanese & English VAs when I find it relevant. Also my order's gonna be based on how strongly I think the headcanon works. I'll also try to provide examples for the angle I'm going for
let's a go
Tumblr media
Tetsuo Tsutsumi Japanese: Option 1 - Akio Otsuka (Executioner from Akudama Drive). Option 2 - Jouji Nakata (Osvald from Octopath Traveler 2) English: Option 1 - Jamieson Price (Malik Caesar from Tales of Graces F). Option 2 - Jason Douglas (Kishibe from Chainsaw Man)
Middle aged men characters are my specialty so really it depends on the delivery you want. Richard Epcar (Ace from 999) could also work for English as well as Bill Butts (Ciocolotta from Jojo part 5)
Tumblr media
Makoto Ashimiya/Fumichika Nejima Japanese: Kenjiro Tsuda (Ogata from Golden Kamuy...and also Kishibe from Chainsaw Man). Katsuyuki Konishi could also be a good example but I can't really think of an old man character. I guess Takehito Koyasu could also work? But like this is THE most TsudaKen looking motherfucker I've ever seen English: Joe J. Thomas (Nobunaga Hazama from Hunter x Hunter). His "So I did" line really cemented this casting choice tbh.
Tumblr media
Richter Kai Japanese: Shiniciro Miki (Kisuke Urahara from Bleach) English: For this, it depends again on the delivery you want. I originally wanted Doug Erholz (maybe not like Vega from Street Fighter), but upon closer inspection, Ray Chase (Uzui Tengen from Demon Slayer) might be a better pick.
Tumblr media
Harue Shigima English: Laura Post (Empress from A Hat in Time) Japanese: Kikuko Inoue (Rhea from Fire Emblem Three Houses)
It just works, it just works~
Tumblr media
Shogo Okiie English: Chris Hackney (Yuito from Scarlet Nexus) Japanese: Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Noctis from Final Fantasy 15)
Standard older protagonist
Tumblr media
Jun Erio Japanese: Kaito Ishikawa (Noe from Case Study of Vanitas or Iida from My Hero Academia) English: Griffin Burns (Doppio from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure). Zeno Robinson (Akira from Zom 100) would also work great!
An excitable character that I think can work great with the right delivery.
Tumblr media
Takumi Yumioka Japanese: Toshiyuki Morikawa (Yoshikage Kira from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) English: Ben Lepley (Gouto from 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim)
I feel like a flat delivery that still has an air of intimidation would work best for him.
Tumblr media
Mayu Chozawa English: Option 1 - Tara Sands (Sonya from Fire Emblem Echoes); Option 2 - Cristina Vee (Velvet from Tales of Berseria). Amanda C. Miller (Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon) is also a good pick along with Heather Gonzalez (Cherche from Fire Emblem Heroes) Japanese: Miyuki Sawashiro (Kyoko Honda from Fruits Basket). Nana Mizuki could also work, though I sadly can't think of a role off the top of my head
Going for the woman who grew up a punk vibe
Tumblr media
Yutaro Namigaki Japanese: Jun Fukuyama (Draluc from Vampire Dies in No Time) English: It's tempting to put Xander Mobus for the total Joker Persona 5 duology but ehhhhh. It depends on the delivery again. Brian Beacock (Luthier from Fire Emblem Echoes) or Steve Staley (Hubert from Tales of Graces F) could also work tbh. Maybe Lucien Dodge (Waver Velvet from Fate/Zero)
Tumblr media
Ayame Touno English: Faye Mata (Amame from AI: The Somnium Files) Japanese: Rie Kugimiya (Rise from Persona 4)
The voices contrast each other, but I think each one compliments the kind of character Ayame is.
Tumblr media
Storyteller Japanese: Hochu Otsuka (Tsurumi from Golden Kamuy) English: TBD
Here's where I'm starting to think about 1 solid casting and kinda improvising for the second one. I think the Storyteller changes voices depending on the mask they wear, so for this old man mask, an old man they shall sound like.
Tumblr media
Michiyo Shiraishi English: Xanthe Huynh (Marianne from Fire Emblem Three Houses) Japanese: Aya Endo (Miyuki from Lucky Star)
Few lines for such a sweet gal
Tumblr media
Yakko Sakazaki English: Abby Trott (Older Annette from Fire Emblem Three Houses). For some reason I also pictured Cassandra Lee Morris (Tomi Kisaragi from 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim) Japanese: Marina Inoue (Female Protagonist from Persona 3 Portable)
Spunky young lady, ain't she?
Tumblr media
Mio Kurosuzu English: Amber Connor (Faye from Fire Emblem Echoes) Japanese: Rie Murakawa (Est from Fire Emblem Echoes)
Young but calm & sweet
Tumblr media
Yoko Fukunaga English: Cherami Leigh (Patty from Soul Eater) Japanese: Saori Hayami (Yor from Spy x Family)
Not related to casting but I think she and Ayame would be weird girl besties and I love that for them
Tumblr media
Hideiki Araishi English: Patrick Seitz (there's a specific role in mind that sounds similar to Mama from AI: The Somnium Files but naaah that doesn't sound right) Japanese: Tomokazu Sugita (sadly can't think of a role off the top of my head)
He's a bit of a snob so something a bit arrogant works best
Tumblr media
Kohei Jounichi Japanese: Here's where I think Katsuyki Konishi would fit best (Koito from Golden Kamuy comes to mind, oddly). Makoto Furukawa (why did I think Ronaldo from Vampire Dies in No Time??) could also work English: I think this will depend on the delivery. Do you want him more cowardly? I kinda see David Vincent tbh (Henri from Iruma-kun)
Tumblr media
Hajime Yoshimi English: He could be another potential Patrick Seitz role, but I want to avoid double casting as much as possible. Japanese: Subaru Kimura (Todo from Jujutsu Kaisen)
Tumblr media
Hitomi Okuda Japanese: Ai Farouz (Jolyne Kujo from JJBA) English: Option 1 - Laura Stahl (Alear from Fire Emblem Engage); Option 2 - Erica Mendez (can't think of a role off the top of my head)
Once again going for toughness, but from a younger angle
aaaand I think that's all the voiced characters! Some roles I had to think up of on the spot, so I might come back and revisit this, but I'm open for suggestions as well!

performance fits from boys planet i would wear on a daily basis
imma be real i fucking love all the damn outfits from this show so i'm just gonna show off some of my favs here! in order of appearance on the show!
1. Dongyeol (Xiao) - Very Nice
Tumblr media
this is honestly the only fit i'd wear in public bc the suspenders are too much for me in the other outfits but it works here with the turtleneck and the oversized t-shirt on top! and the jeans just really sell the look overall. i think g group had fits that were more cohesive but none of them were my taste lol
2. Haru (LMR)
Tumblr media
i like all of the g group colors but haru seems to make it work just a little better than jay for me (most likely bc of the white shirt), the headband is just so cute and I can't rock headbands like that but the rest of the outfit is just so comfy looking
3. Sungmin (Jerome) - LMR
Tumblr media
K group's LMR outfits were just as equally good and sungmin's got the least like..bulkiest outfit which works great for layering, and the patterned shirt is just a nice plus for me, very like 2000s-core i love it so much
4. Osuke - Hot Sauce
Tumblr media
okay tbh i would wear EVERYONE's fit in g group hot sauce bc all of them are SO GOOD! but i narrowed it down to osuke's because the streetwear/racecar vibes of this one are perfect, it's simple, and we're similar in height so i know it'll look good on me :)
5. Itsuki - Danger
Tumblr media
the mix of bad-boy tech-wear type pants and then the academia-esque tops with the vest and tie, it just all goes well somehow? the monotone colors work great here for some reason idk why it just scratches an itch in my brain
6. Junseo - Danger
Tumblr media
i almost went with yugeng's version but i think junseo's looks a little better, mainly bc of the long-sleeves. the converse really set this outfit btw which is why i cropped it in. i think i just like turtlenecks
7. Ricky (Back Door)
Tumblr media
minus the goggles and i'd wear it. this is def a fit that you have to wear together tho, hard to mix and match this one bc it needs that cohesive white or else it gets messy. i feel bad for this team bc ricky was the only one with a decent fit
8. Jeonghyeon (GGANG)
Tumblr media
i almost put junhyeon but i would 1. not wear an abs shirt and 2. his fit feels a little too "american high schooler" for me to really call it an idol fit LMFAO??? but jeonghyeon's fit here is actually really nice bc they didn't give him tin foil and the vest helps his shoulders and it just looks super nice. also the arm band :D
9. Jianyu (GGANG)
Tumblr media
i know i just slandered the tinfoil but i think with this fit i'd wear it. i still think this is the best fit of the group (minus the green shoes bc the green don't match), the green mesh top is actually pretty nice and the thin vest works wonders, chen jianyu you will always be pretty as fuck
10. Keita (ZOOM)
Tumblr media
i really like this fit and it makes keita stand out well; it's a little bulky especially since keita and i are pretty much the same height so i can well imagine how this would look on me, but the colors work nicely and the hat is just super cute!
11. Yujin (LAW)
Tumblr media
im just glad they kinda covered up the v neck with the fishnet top LOL but i like the jumper-esque thing it's got going on, harnesses are a bit much but the stud belt really makes this work LOL good accessories too
12. Mingyu (Man In Love)
Tumblr media
i think the simplistic fits for man in love work way better than the feel special ones (in terms of concept) and i'd wear all of them but if i had to pick one it's mingyu's easily. the green sweater is a good soft color and it just looks extremely comfy. also mingyu looks so happy
13. Ricky (Rush Hour)
Tumblr media
just get rid of the tie and im sold
14. Jingxiang (Rush Hour)
Tumblr media
the big hoodie and black sleeves look REALLY good and the chain on the pants really adds a nice touch. also this screenshot is hilarious bc of ricky's face lol. jingxiang however is tall so idk if i could pull this off
15. Jihoo (Limousine)
Tumblr media
definitely another "i'd wear all of them but if i had to pick one" scenario, the caustics pants are actually a lot nicer than i expected. i think i have something for short-long sleeve combos now that im looking at it
16. Daeul (Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms)
Tumblr media
definitely needs the beret to complete it but the outfit is just so sweet looking! the white on white somehow works and younger me always dreamed of having a white jean jacket so i would totally wear this!! the hoodie just adds on a nice layer on top too
17. Seowon (Supercharger)
Tumblr media
(im ngl i had to do a double take when taking this screenshot, like that's SEOWON???) also this is pretty much just ricky's rush hour fit but dark mode/on steroids, so pretty much similar reasoning there. i just love this one for some reason (fun fact: he rips the rips on his pants LOL)
18. Ollie (Supercharger)
Tumblr media
im not gonna say anything just that i've just started to notice a pattern with my choices here
19. Keita (Switch)
Tumblr media
if you mixed junhyeon's ggang fit with itsuki's danger fit and them splashed a bunch of highlighter ink on it this is what you'd get. i think this one works best bc its more monotonous and also not blaringly loud (like kamdens pink fit that’s nightmare fuel). also, it's cute!
20. Hanbin (Switch)
Tumblr media
the headband and the blue jacket saved this fit ngl bc those green pants don’t exactly work for me LOL but i'd wear everything else!
21. Matthew (Say My Name)
Tumblr media
it's definitely the least like "uniform" uniform on the stage, and the extra layers make this seem like it'd be extra comfy in the winter :)
conclusion: i like streetwear and jackets a little too much LOL. if you didn't see a stage here that means i didn’t wanna wear any of their fits lol

i have about 30 minutes or so before i'll head to bed but i wanted to share some snippets, as per usual. i've been writing more on the natori/muta fic since it's been on my mind more lately. in particular, i added more to this conversation between haru and baron. i'm realizing i do really enjoy writing for baron tbh
Haru breaks their eye contact for him, there, feeling suddenly rather bare in a way she doesn’t truly recall Baron ever managing before. He’s quite intuitive, she thinks, when he wants to be. When she peeks back up at him, she finds that he has given into temptation, eyes downcast and lightly lidded as he takes a small drink. Her own gaze drifts back to the tea cup he had provided her with; she wonders if maybe it’s the same set he had offered when they first met.
“I’ll be fine, Baron,” she says with a shrug and a brief cant of her head so that she looks rather winsome.  (She thinks perhaps she might have learned it from him.)
“Then I have said my piece,” Baron responds, nodding once in brief approval. “In truth, I have the intuition that everything will ultimately be quite well.”
Here the unnamed discomfort that had been lingering between them dissipates; Haru smiles again.
“It’s hard for me to imagine you’d ever feel differently.”
Baron returns her smile. “To live without hope is to cease to live.”
“And who said that?”
“I did, just now,” Baron replies readily, and with such matter-of-fact ease she almost can’t tell if he’s being stoically facetious or not. He’s raised his teacup to his lips. “But we all have Dostoevsky to thank for writing it.”
The rest of their visit passes in relative peaceable familiarity.
and then there is haru and natori interacting, bc Of Course
“He singlehandedly plunged our kingdom into chaos and destitution the likes of which we’ve yet to experience since. I do apologize for being short with you, Miss Haru, but I will not apologize for continuing to hold him accountable for his actions,” Natori explains primly without wasting a breath. “I do believe he has made his bed, and now he must lie in it. I feel that quite strongly.”
Here Haru pauses, trying to decide how best to crack this particular nut. There is something about all this hullabaloo which has become quite obvious to her, but it must be brought to light with care. Natori and Muta have some curious similarities— one of those is the tendency to become stubbornly uncommunicative upon being made vulnerable. But where Muta simply stops talking and starts glaring, Natori covers up his intransigence with circular language and polite topic changes.
Most likely it gets him quite far in his line of work, avoiding those tough conversations, and anyone less (stubborn) might indeed let it happen without realizing what was transpiring. But Haru just might have the both of them beat in this matter. She had sped out in front of an approaching truck to save a small life and do what was right to her; what obstacle was a pair of brick walls in comparison?
“I understand,” she starts thoughtfully, averting her eyes for just a moment so that she might appear less shrewd than she’s feeling right now. “It’s just… I’m only curious, after all, given His Majesty the king didn’t seem to have any recollection of the event at all.”
Haru spares a glance at Natori here, trying to gauge his reaction, trying to evaluate if he’s gathered already where she is going with this line of thought. He’s gazing upon her with the slightest squint to his eyes, tired lines etched beneath them she’d never noticed before, and with a telling brittleness to the thin, straight line he’s pursed his mouth in.
Absolutely, he knows where she is leading, and she wonders if he will let her finish.
“Of course, maybe by virtue of being the king he didn’t suffer nearly to the same degree as the everyday citizen did,” Haru continues brazenly, but in a soft and nonchalant enough voice that she hopes he doesn’t catch on. “But even from just the short time I got to know him he’s seemed like the type to have a low threshold for hardship. It wouldn’t take much, would it..?”
Natori holds her gaze with a quite level one of his own for a good many moments more than she would have expected, but he does eventually look away. Still, his no doubt long-practiced professionalism remains, and there’s hardly a hint left of his initial anxiety over meeting with her when he finally does mechanically respond. “Please do forgive me— I do not see the value in continuing this particular line of questioning. I politely request that the matter is dropped. However, I shall be happy to indulge whatever other curiosities you may possess, provided they do not eclipse my responsibilities to the kingdom.”
Haru assumes that to mention his retirement shall not get her anywhere.

so i was gonna reach the next major story beat, which i ASSUMED was Okamura dropping fucking dead but APPARENTLY NAH WE GOT MORE DRAMA FIRST
I have been POWERGRINDING through some SLinks so let's hit 'em
oh but first, Haru has the best persona since Yosuke's Susano-o level 3
Tumblr media
Amazing.
Tumblr media
Also Morgana saved literally everyone and Ryuji still hasn't apologized, but we knew that's how it would go. ANYWAY LETS JUST HIT THE IMPORTANT SHIT.
Tumblr media
As everyone would have suspected, the Okamura Job was a false flag. Oh he was a fucking scoundrel and Haru needed help like ASAP but there is zero way Okamura organically rose to such infamy to garner the Thieves' attention. It's a set-up, Okamura is gonna die, and I assume the Thieves will be blamed and the whole thing will start unraveling.
If they had just not set up that fucking Phansite, none of this would have happened. So I'm blaming Mishima, personally.
Tumblr media
Morgana has the same vision/dream about a shadow self in Mementos? Which I took initially as something that was Actively Happening, but it seems to be his origin actually. So Morgana is... some kind of product of the shared cognition of the world?
This is treading very close to Teddie's origin. Instead of a shadow that wanted to be liked, maybe a shadow that wants to Do Crimes?
I mean, I have cats so I think a cat-shaped crime shadow makes perfect sense tbh.
Tumblr media
ALSO I GOT A LAPTOP AND TANAKA IS IN THERE??????
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE TANAKA THEME SONG, I'M SO ANGRY. Do you know how long i've had Anata no, terebi ni, Jika-netto Tanakaaaaa stuck in my head?
SULKS
okay lets get into some meat here, I am nearly done with Maruki's SLink and Yo. Yo. Okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maruki is working on his nebulous research paper and laments that even at his best, he can only help a few dozens, maybe hundreds of people. Gosh, wouldn't it be so much easier to help everyone is there was some way to connect to all hearts hmmm but hahah that's impossible right? lmao. what a wild dream, a fanciful dalliance.
ha ha haaaaaaaa
Tumblr media
Maruki is talking about applying cognitive psience to the collective unconsciousness.
Tumblr media
Later, he just happens to ask Reverie about the Phantom Thieves' methods of affecting changes in people, and the physical representation of desire in the form of a "heart" and Maruki is off to the fucking races.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS ALL SEEMS VERY BAD HONESTLY. Like even if the most well-meaning motherfucker in the world got ahold of some means to affecting the collective unconsciousness on that scale, P5R is turning into a practical lesson on why doing that just really isn't the play. It's the recurring question of the whole game and with Okamura, signs are pointing to "yeah don't fucking mess with people's internal cognition, fuckface"
and frankly Maruki is well-meaning but is a shitty therapist anyway.
Next rank up, Maruki is excited about being nearly finished with his paper so he takes Reverie out to that one fancy buffet. Midway through, one of Maruki's college friends joins in to congratulate him on the paper and to shoot the shit, and:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
me, IRL muttering "oh shit" under my breath. I'm kind of impressed how the reuse of a portrait I have see three dozen times now can hit me like a bolt of fear.
Oh there is something going on under that mousy hair. I was wondering who exactly was the big bad of the game here but I am pretty sure it's Maruki.
Tumblr media
Next link, I get to know who the fuck Rumi is. Rumi was apparently the love of Maruki's life. They were going to get married and life was peaches and cream until there was a burglary. Rumi was hurt in the process, but worse, the attack caused her to have a mental breakdown. The aftershocks of it ended their relationship, and Maruki is transparently still deeply affected by it.
This is the cusp of his motivation, to learn a way to not only heal people of their emotional pains but to prevent that pain if he can.
With cognitive psience and the collective unconsciousness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. You're the bad guy. As soon as you flip from asking for forgiveness instead of permission, you are the bad guy of the video game, buddy.
I hope this doesn't manifest as like.... inducing apathy syndrome in everyone, like P3P. I don't think that's the play because Maruki does seem.... interested in actual happiness. So....
I'm just literally thinking really hard. What is his play...
Using the collective unconsciousness to steal all the distorted hearts? IDK that seems too 'neat'.
Let's skip ahead to the next important part actually. 10/3.
Tumblr media
Fast summary of events: Kasumi is trying to improve her gymnastics but her performance is still not up to the standards of Shujin, and her honor student status is threatened. If she doesn't bring home a gold medal, she's going to lose her special privileges, and everyone is super disappointed in her.
The school faculty tells her this apparently to motivate her, but Maruki just happens to be included in the meetings (is he her therapist since the loss of her sister?) and he sternly tells everyone yo, this much pressure on her might make her crack more, not help her.
Reverie and Morgana find one of her lucky charms on the floor and go to meet up with her at the new stadium to return it.
Tumblr media
OH GODDAMMIT I DIDN'T CAP EVERY LINE BC I DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT WAS ABOUT TO POP OFF.
Okay. That makes it harder to remember.
BASiCALLY: KASUMI HAS THE META NAV AND THERE IS A PALACE HERE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She mentioned her own name, Kasumi Yoshizawa. But she also mentioned Dr. Maruki's name. And she corrected some passerbys that this place was a "stadium, not a research lab."
So the keywords here are either "Kasumi, Stadium, Lab" or "Maruki, Stadium, Lab." I am leaning towards the latter because inside the beautiful Frank Gehry Designs A Hospital building, there are pages from what I assume is Maruki's research paper.
Tumblr media
Happiness cognitive psience, oh boy. Oh no. Maruki has a palace dedicated to his distorted desire to fix everyone's trauma with cog-psi. Oh no. Oh wow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THERE IS SOME SHIT GOING ON WITH KASUMI. Some cognitive copy of her sister is trying to reach her. Why is she in Maruki's-- oh so. Oh, he was definitely her therapist and so he knows about her and her dead sister, so he has cognitive copies of them inside.
JFC this is so much. Maruki's cognitive copy of Kasumi's sister gets stabbed by a monster.
Tumblr media
THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THIS THAT I LIKE
OUR LORD? ACCEPT YOURSELF? FOOLISHNESS? OH I DISLIKE ALL THESE THINGS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey why does Kasumi get a full magical girl sequence when she pops her persona??????? no one else got this???? I wanna see everyone sparkly sailor moon transformation nekkid as they get into their gear. This is bullshit.
Anyway, Kasumi pops her persona, Reverie and Morgana help her fight and escape the palace.
HER PHONE MYSTERIOUSLY RUNS OUT OF BATTERY AGAIN BEFORE THEY CAN FIGURE OUT WHO THE PALACE BELONGS TIME cuz its Maruki, natch.
AAAAAND she actually turns down joining the Thieves, lmao. That's hilarious. Good for her, though! Go do your gymnastics, gurl.
Anyway so. Yeah, October Third is fucking wild.
I think the big bad of the game is still to come and is concerned with the whole cognitive shutdowns thing. Maruki, I think, is someone completely different since so far there is zero indication he's involved in all that. (I think?)
So, what happens when you take a well-meaning but unaccountably shitty therapist and give him every patient in the world and a power to materialize their hearts?
Pretty sure nothing fucking good!
But it should be interesting at least!
though how would he get into the metaverse unless Notigor helps him or someone else lets hi--
oh shit kasumi has the metaverse app now

Fic Writing Meme
Tagged by @auncyen - tagging @chronicdelusionist. @onadacora (but don't feel obligated obviously!)
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 6
2. What’s your total ao3 word count? 263,444
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Persona 5 and Undertale in the past, though it’s been quite some time for the latter haha. I also had one fic back on FF.net that was for FFTA, and BOY did I overreach on that one
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Would That Make You Sad? (522) which was done because I had fallen in love with Onadacora's "Would That Make You Happy?" (which if you never read please do if you're an Undertale fan, it's the best fic ever, in my humble opinion), and I wanted to try doing a little spin on it based on some character's she'd introduced, combined with inspiration by Chronicdelusionist's comics based on the Underswap AU [If that reads like a bunch of gibberish, you avoided the Tumblr Madness of Undertale and I envy you].
The Phantom Thieves In: You Have Got to be Kitten Me (397) which is a fun little AU/what if where Joker and Morgana swap bodies post-Kaneshiro and deal with that fallout. It's... Almost done, I swear.
A Shining Moon (225), which is a 'What-if?' story about Mishima's thoughts at the tail-end of the Kamoshida arc, and if a sliiiight change had happened.
Regrets (171) was just me feeling like torturing Morgana with his heartbreaking, and writing some Joker & Haru comforting him.
The Magic Arrives at Macy's (36) was a silly idea of an employee at Macy's meeting Papyrus on the job. Absolutely ridiculous, but I love it in concept anyway.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always do, even if it takes me some time! If someone put the time in to respond, I always want to thank them and provide some sort of response, because it means a lot to me that they read what I wrote!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm, I really don't have one tbh. I don't like writing stories that end all angsty.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Due to being the only actually complete one, A Shining Moon XD
8. Do you get hate on fic?
Nah, though I did get one particularly heated comment on A Shining Moon at one point, though it's since been deleted by the original poster.
9. Do you write smut?
Have I? Yes. Will you find it? Only in WTMYS, I've never posted any other anywhere haha.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Nah, though I like the idea of it. Auncyen and I have spitballed ideas in the past but neither of us have the time for that lol.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not to my knowledge.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nah, though I often provide feedback to my fellow writers and suggestions.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Oooh that's tough. I like a lot for many different reasons. I can't think of just one!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
Hmm, I really don't have any atm. The WIPs I got that won't be finished (i.e. the Undertale ones) are safely dead in the water sadly.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel that my dialogue writing is really good. I can get into the character voices fairly well, and often keep a scene flowing just based on that alone.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Overthinking, exhaustion and IRL getting in the way.
Eh, more seriously, I could improve upon getting character thoughts and motivations across without dialogue. Describing scenes could go better as well.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If ya ain't proficient in it already, this way lies madness.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
According to FF.net, Persona 4 apparently.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Honestly, I think The Phantom Thieves In: You Have Got to be Kitten Me. It's about characters I feel for, I've put a lot of effort into it and I'm really proud of how my writing has improved throughout it.

Excuse me, do you have any more thoughts on trans boy haru? Sounds fun tbh.
Oh I have many it's. It was a little thought and half of my thoughts are related to him with Makoto but I won't fill this post with that (if anyone does want that let me know)
So. He'd probably tell his mom while she's still alive, and she'd really help with the whole convincing Kunikazu thing, and. By high school, he passes really well, has a top surgery date set for summer break in his second year, and no one really thinks of him as a girl
He's not much taller, short curly hair, wears a pink men's dress sweater over his uniform, and he speaks real softly. He comes across as polite and gentle, from the gardening to the fact that he can knit and loves to cook, just, he's not a really masc guy but he's just really seen as the "cute" kinda guy
My idea for this Haru is, he's not a Phantom Thief. He and Hifumi would switch roles. He'd be the Star confidant, and his is about how his dad wants him to become the next CEO, but he wants to run a little diner and bakery, and helping him get through to his dad
Honestly he'd love the baseball unit in school. The batting cages help him work out frustration, but he wouldn't join a school team for it. Between his loud, angry music and the gardening and cooking, he has enough ways to emotionally regulate
In relationships he'd be a real cuddler. Gentle affection, acts of service like cooking, he loves taking photos with his partner, keeping souvenirs. He'd like to have little matching things, like rings or piercings or phone charms
His mom definitely picked his new name (I'm sticking with Haru, it works both ways), so he's real fond of it. It's like, he always has a gift from her with him

Have you ever thought about the p5 cast in the bungo stray dogs universe?
👁👁 oh now this is A Concept
ok ok lemme think up some abilities that can work for them
joker: disappearing into the crowd. once he puts on his glasses/activates his ability in some other way he's overlooked, security cameras don't pick up on him, you can't see him unless he wants you to
ryuji: i'd say super speed makes most sense tbh?? not quicksilver-like, rather only when he chooses to activate it, and it leaves him fairly exhausted afterwards
ann: ngl i have 0 ideas for her 😭 just pyrokinesis honestly. i'm sorry ann i let you down 😔
yusuke: replicating anything he's seen in art. he can already kind of do that in canon tbh but i'm talking down to the tiniest details without needing to get a good look first
makoto: seeing the unfolding of certain choices. leaning into her strategist role and her more careful approach to things, she can see glimpses into the future before making a choice and see how things turn out whether she does one thing or the other. it's very powerful and paralyzing so i think there'll be some drawbacks, like only seeing a few seconds ahead for example
futaba: either smth like katai has aka screen manipulation (i have literally described katai as adult male futaba like 2 days ago lol) or the ability to learn things very quickly? maybe touching a book and immediately being able to know everything in it? and somehow with practice she managed to transfer it to the internet as well. it only works for raw knowledge and not like, languages and such, and she can't learn actual skills without actually doing them, more like having the right reading material in her head
haru: there's a lot of directions you can go with her and tbh the one i'm feeling the most is plant manipulation. she can't grow ones that aren't already there but she can use existing plants in her area however she wants. bc why not. it'd be cool
goro: making people go berserk lmao. no but really i feel like he'd have smth with like. masks. like he can change the way he's perceived by others. it's also kind of a flip on joker's "don't perceive me" i think, leaning into them being foils. maybe the berserk thing can be kind of like chuuya's arahabaki, but with loki. like this deity takes over him and through it he can make people lose their marbles somehow, after being experimented on (it's already kind of a common fan theory that loki is the result of goro being experimented on, and while i don't like it in p5's context, it works nicely here imo) (also i have a soft spot for this bc one of my ocs is literally that. aka was experimented on and now she can make people go insane with one touch. so i'm biased)
sumi: stealing other people's abilities ofc 👀 she maintains an ability up until she steals a different one. at first it's triggered through strong emotions and she doesn't even know she can do it or that she did it with kasumi, but she can later learn to control it and willingly steal abilities after perceiving them in action.
ok this is what i have for you. excited to hear if others have other ideas for them!!!!!!! 👀👀👀👀

okay, so, i watched free! the final stroke vol.2 today and i just need to put my Thoughts somewhere.  this will contain spoilers but isn’t any real analysis or anything
i went into it being a little worried, bc folks had been watching it the last few days and i kept seeing lots of people say they were disappointed, etc.  therefore, i went into it expecting to be disappointed while still thinking i’d at least have fun.  ultimately, i think going into it thinking i’d be disappointed made me come out having enjoyed it!  at least, a little bit lol.
basically, i wouldn’t say that i was “disappointed” but more that i was very underwhelmed.
it had some fun moments!  lots of stuff with the underclassmen which made me very happy, since they’ve been shoved aside a lot as of late.  parts that were meant to be serious were very easy to make fun of, which is what i look forward to in this show tbh.  like i loved the asshole baby Haru talking back to adult Haru, and then was ultimately heartwarmed when adult Haru broke through to baby Haru at the very end, i thought that was sweet.  it was fun to see Sousuke come back into his own, and i enjoyed seeing everyone working together in training and whatnot.  i just love seeing them all be friends!
which leads me into how i’m glad that they got through the “Haru is being brooding and distant” really quickly.  perhaps a little too quickly, but it was far better than saving it until the very end (*cough* season 3 being the same runaround every episode until episode 8 *cough*).  i could go more into detail about what i did/didn’t like about this whole thing with Haru and Rin fighting and Haru shutting himself off from everyone else and thrusting himself into swimming so much that he drains his battery completely, but i’m getting over a gnarly cold and don’t feel like thinking too hard.  ultimately, i think it was an interesting direction to take the story, but wasn’t executed as well as it could have been.
but again, overall, i enjoyed that it happened within the first half of the movie so that the second half could be them reconciling, Haru realizing his true potential (that we already learned the source of in season 1 but whatever he can have the same arc over and over again i eat that shit up the power of friendship reigns supreme), and getting to see him really show everyone else what he’s made of.
my biggest issue ultimately with it was how there was a lot of lost potential.  i feel like they could’ve and should’ve leaned more heavily into the Haru/Albert parallel, and how they are like two sides of the same coin.  like Albert was posed as such a big, important character starting in s3, he was the driving force for this new arc in Haru’s character, and he just sort of... petered out?  i feel like a really strong direction would have been to have them basically switch spots.  like, Albert learns how to swim freely like Haru by nurturing strong bonds between friends and doing it simply because you want to, and Haru falling really deeply into the cold, sterile loneliness that Albert was forced into.
that’s the other thing!  we started to see Albert pushing back against his coach, but we never actually saw him break free from it.  it was just sort of posed and then never resolved.  and i feel like it would be really powerful to have had him see Haru swim, learn from him, and then come back and teach that to Haru again.  like Haru’s methods makes Albert stronger, and Albert comes around and says hey, my guy, YOU taught me this.  my way is not the best way.  do it because you enjoy it, and that’s it.
in terms of lost potential, the relationship with Albert was my biggest letdown, purely because he was so hyped up only for him to just sort of... fizzle out.  and i feel like that happened with almost all of the character relationships.  they all just sort of... petered out.  hell, even the final relay felt really lackluster!  in every single other season, the final relays/races make me cry.  even as a certified season 3 hater, watching Haru and Ikuya do the medley relay together makes me cry!  because it’s this big, powerful breakthrough moment for the both of them.
nothing will ever beat the high i felt watching the season 2 final relay.  that shit ruled so hard and the fact that this FINAL final relay didn’t even come close is SUCH a letdown.  like i’m honestly shocked they dropped the ball so hard on it.  like, the intervention with Haru should have been something more dramatic or something!  it was very just “oh hey let’s all hang out on this rooftop pool for a bit” like even the race between Haru and Rin, while more exciting than the final relay, was very just like. okay.  i was just glad to have such a blatant example of crybaby Rin again, but the substance of the race, of their conversation... it was very lackluster.
i’ll be entirely honest too, i actually was really happy with it... until the very end.  like i said at the top, having gone into it expecting to be disappointed, i was pleasantly surprised that i was having so much fun watching it.  bc i really did!  i did have fun watching it!  it was just not a good ending to the series.
i was actually pretty happy with it where it ended before the credits rolled.  i didn’t super love how they just touched on Haru quitting swimming, and then saying he came back again anyway??  like let me TELL YOU i am the biggest proponent for Haru quitting competitive swimming.  it would have been SUCH a great conversation to have, in that he loves swimming, he loves doing this thing with his friends, and he might even enjoy competing sometimes under the right circumstances, but it’s just not good for him.  how GREAT would it have been for him to realize that.  to look at himself shutting down, to have his friends constantly voicing their worry for him, and him going, “oh. i can’t do this,” and having to come to terms with that.  having his FRIENDS have to come to terms with that.  it would have been SO GOOD and been a great story in trying to find a dream, and feeling like it’s okay to go back on that, and your true friends will always back you up even if they’re upset about it at first.  it would have even been a great parallel with Rin quitting swimming as a kid!  but this time it’s a good thing!  like dude!
anyway.
while i did sort of hate that they totally glossed over the quitting and returning thing, i was just sort of like oh cool, i like this sort of ambiguous but happy ending!  idk who this Haru/Makoto lovechild woman is that they keep cutting to closeups of who seems to know who Haru is!  is it his mom!  i can’t remember what she looks like bc she’s never around!  idk!
and then.  the post credits stuff was just.  a mixed bag?  and ultimately made me dislike it more LMAO.  the one thing i really liked was that Haru dug up the time capsule from season 2 and read his letter to himself again, that made me really happy!  bc that was something that i really really really wanted to be remembered.  like that’s something that could have totally been forgotten, but i’m glad it was found and touched on, even if it was just at the very end.
the stuff i didn’t like was.  basically everything else LOL.  mostly because it felt so weird to think that none of these people talk to each other.  like i get it, we’ve long established that Haru doesn’t use his phone or keep in contact with people, but it felt so WRONG for it to just be like “yeah i was in the hospital for a month, i’m doing rehab now, hi Makoto, who had to come hunt me down in hungary and randomly run into me on the street” like WHAT!!!!  hello????  it felt like there was no growth at all.  wasn’t the whole point of the movie, and the WHOLE SHOW, to strengthen the bonds between friends?  and reconnect with old friends?
like i guess you could argue that it’s like “they’re bonded forever.  even if they don’t see each other for a while, they’ll find each other and it’ll be like no time has passed at all” because like.  that was a whole thing and my favorite part of s2, about how “it’s not our last summer together” but like. it just felt so WRONG and backward to display it like that.  it just felt. hollow. and bad.  especially for characters such as Haru and Makoto who are so closely tied to one another and some shade of codependent.  it’s not that it couldn’t have been explored, but it wasn’t even explored.  it was just thrust upon us, and it felt really forced and left an unsavory taste in my mouth.
i think it just sort of felt rushed.  and there was a lot of potential that was set up in s3 and fs1 that just wasn’t followed through on in a satisfying way.  so while there were fun moments, and it was great to see my kids all together again in new scenes and interactions, it was just very. meh.
so okay, i think i’ve talked myself into being disappointed in it.  i’m not really too upset though, because i did indeed still have fun watching it, and will have fun watching it again in the future.  but the show should have ended after season 2 when it was in its prime.
