Heavy mw3 spoilers (tagging bc its only been a day since full access) soap/interactions characters had with soap
Before the rest of the post I just want to say that I am aware that news has been going around that the game ended up getting rushed due to activision pushing dates(?) Or whatever (idk I haven't read into it)
I have an actual problem with soap's death. And I mean, I feel like it might have been more acceptable for everyone (including die hard cod boys or whatever) if there was more purpose to it. Or even if it was just... more cinematic (?)
It was so lackluster, and I understand the whole "It's supposed to be realistic" but it's a game. The entire point of it is to be entertaining, it doesn't matter if it isn't realistic, because it's supposed to immerse and entertain the viewer,and catch their attention. This death... was not that. Infact it was any thing but that.
It didn't even feel like there was an out of game purpose for it. If it had been at the beginning of the game, at least then the game could have been "revenge" driven. You put it from anyone's pov and (without even making it gay) you could have an emotional drive for revenge. (Of course I AM going to make it gay because that who I am). And if it's kept at the end of the game they could just play up the cinematics a tiny bit, and boom, payer satisfaction. But nope
Now lets go back to if it was the beginning of the game. I'm only gonna focus of the remaining main 3 of the 141.
If soap died at the beginning, the game could be largely price's pov. And we already know in the original price saw soap as a son figure. So just copy+paste character dynamics, and oop, you've got a more immersive emotional connection that draws the players in. It gives the character (price) a motivation, which can also explain some of the OOC behaviors that are exhibited in the game. Because Price is supposed to be this confident, level-headed leader. And the entire game he feels off, unsure of his own decisions, and he makes decisions that arguably are illogical for someone of his rank to make.
Onto Gaz. He seemed too stoic, and cold for this game. If soap had died at the beginning, it could be explained by him being angry and vengeful, and shutting off his emotions. Think about it, he lost a fellow Sergent, whom he'd thought of as a brother. That does things to a person. But they didn't do that so we just got what feels to be an ooc gaz, with minimal interaction with soap who he called a brother. Now I realize that calling soap his brother could just be a term of endearment or whatever, but it anything it felt like a desperate grab to make a last connection between the player and the character by showing a "deeper" connection (which wasn't there). As a side note, when I say gaz feels ooc I mean that in mw it seemed (to me) that he thought about his actions more and their impacts. He didn't just follow orders blindly like a good little soldier, like in this movie. In mw he was more self-righteous (if that's the right word) and he seemed to care a lot more for how his actions would have an impact on the world/people that he was fighting for.
And then we have Ghost. And sorry to sound repetitive but the interactions with him and soap were lackluster. We can start with the fact that there was very little interaction between the two, much less than in mw2 obviously, but I just want to point out that it ALMOST feels like Shepherd had more screen time than the two did together (to me). I know that that isn't true but that's how it feels. And we have even less meaningful interactions. Sure we have ghost and soap interrogating milena but they didn't interact all that much, and we have SOME banter but not a lot. We also have ghost claiming soap to go with him before they drop onto the island, and them pairing up after the vidcall with Shepherd and graves. But that's basically it, aside from soap's death scene (not including the flashvack because they didn't really interact much/the same way). Also I don't know if anyone else felt like this but to me it felt like their banter/interactions were too stilted/formal for the level of acquaintance that they are. Especially after Las Almas, and the game implies that they have fallen into a routine of going on missions together since then, and their conversations/interactions don't feel like they're at that level of knowledge of eachother that they should be at.
I'm putting soap's actual death and aftermath here since I have misc. thoughts.
I want to point out the parallel between laswell and hew wife disapproval with smoking, and Ghost with johnny (i know it's veen pointed out before) but it basically confirms soapghost/ghoap
Also ive seen it pointed out that ghost checked soap's pulse to check if he was alive, even after he was shot in the head, he also pats soap chest like he's teying to confort him.
I also want to point out that at no point between soap dying and the bomb does ghost say anything about the bomb, nor does he go gelp gaz stop it. I get that the point is to force the player to stop the bomb, but they could have added it as a non-canon ending where he was too late or off time with gaz and thus the bomb still blew up. But no. He just says by soap's body the entire time...
Ghost was also apparently the one in possession of soap's ashes, AND the one to spread his ashes, which seems too intimate if activision was trying to stomp down ghoap.
Also I thought soap was catholic, so in my mind, I would have expected maybe a small (possibly unmarked) grave, instead of cremation (im not entirely sure on catholic funeral rituals, so don't come at me if this is wrong). And to me soap's character seemed like it should have been buried instead of cremated and forgotten to the wind (personal preference) but I think he should have had some spot on earth that was his to remember him.
And I'm not gonna say the ashes scene was lackluster, or rushed. Because it wasn't, but it did feel like it was an emotional grab. And it just felt off in general.
Ok that's all I have

All the TTRPGs I Played in 2023
So it's about halfway through the year and I wanted to talk about all the gaming I've done this year. I've learned a lot this year - about games, definitely, but mostly about how I like to play them. And the big learning for me is around prep. I don't particularly enjoy prepping for games as a GM. So I tried to run a bunch of different games this year without any prep and basically, these games were less fun than I hoped for. So basically I've realized I either do the prep... or I play games that are explicitly designed with support for no prep or low prep play. Right now, I'm leaning towards the latter.
Tumblr media
Anyway, here's wonderwall:
Spire (7 sessions, player): This is a game about being a dark elf freedom fighter or terrorist, more or less That's a tough premise honestly. I think I wanted to play it straight - blood and tragedy. But it's probably best served with a huge dollop of irony or comedy. Like many, many people have said before, the setting is the star here and in future, I'd probably play it with something more forged in the dark. I converted the playbooks a long time ago but haven't done anything with them. I've scribbled some notes for the Great Spireblack Campaign but I haven't put anything concrete yet.
Swords of the Serpentine (3 sessions, GM): Conan the barbarian via GUMSHOE. It's sword and sorcery but you're investigating things as much as fighting or stealing. This is the first of the two games where I botched the ending because of a lack of prep. Bottomline, I think GUMSHOE is exactly the kind of system that doesn't work for me as a GM. It is built around the idea of a certain kind of prep (a breadcrumb trail of clues) and I don't think I enjoy leading players to a finale in that sense. In a one shot, I'm all for a tight breadcrumb trail but not really in a campaign. My primary enjoyment comes from players surprising me and I don't think this game is built for that. Loved the setting though! Eversink is a quirky, charming place.
Blades in the Dark (12 sessions, player): We played a crew of hawkers but we peddled highly illegal avant-garde dining experiences. It started out very light but we quickly became vengeful, violent freaks. Amazing, 10/10, no notes. It's crazy how cutthroat the hospitality industry can be! The system mastery of the table definitely helped but these sessions were a guaranteed good time.
The Veil (4 sessions, GM): A cyberpunk game with a focus on the em9tionx and internal lives of the characters. I really enjoyed emotions as stats. I loved asking my players how they felt every time they picked up the dice. But this was the second game where I botched the ending. Partially due to prep but partially due to misreading the text. I thought it was more like Apocalypse World where the players are often semi-antagonistic. But I think maybe it works best in a more standard "everyone is on the same side" kind of way. Would love for it to get a second edition with a better rulebook but will either way, probably return to it at some point.
DIE (5 sessions, GM): Goth jumanji. Slightly misleading but yeah, it's a game where you play people who get sucked into a game. I don't think I could make this game really work at my table. It relies on bleed to really shine (to some extent) and I'm not good at creating bleed. My table was also very culturally different. It would've been tough for anyone. Very jealous of those it worked for! If you haven't read the comic, you really should!
Bite Marks (6+ sessions, Player): A game of werewolves and pack dynamics. This is definitely in the vein of games where the players most complicated problems can be each other. Sure, there's a strange creature killing werewolves like us but thats an easy problem to solve. How am I going to keep this family together? How will I find someone to replace me as Alpha? Those are tough problems! I really enjoy that kind of play. I enjoy having the family as a character. I'm enjoying wrestling with being the leader of the pack, the Alpha. Ongoing.
World of Dungeons? (5+ sessions, GM/player): This is a bit of an odd game on this list. It's basically freeform pretending to be homebrew World of Dungeons. I take turns running it with a friend and it's the first RPG campaign for a couple of the players. When I run, I tend to run for 2 hours. It's dark fantasy, low stakes, and very satisfying. We're maybe one session away from the finale and I'm keen to find out if people want to play something else later.
Apocalypse World (3+ sessions, Player): The Blades in the Dark crew are now playing AW and it's similarly fun. Much more weird (fungal, jungle apocalypse) and PvP than Blades (characters has their own ulterior agenda, but players know everything though). I'm really enjoying it but still feel like it's just getting started. The engine hasn't kicked in yet and we have less system mastery than with Blades but I'm excited for when it kicks in.
This Ship Is No Mother (5 sessions, GM): So this is my own game of sci-fi horror that isn't out yet (except to patrons). I've run a couple oneshots and then a three session mini‐campaign. It's a game I love to run. Every playtest was a joy. I'm basically tweaking the text right now but it's basically ready for release. I'll talk about it more when it's out!

Announcement
hi to the followers/readers, of which there are now a few (idk how much actually counts as 'good growth' but i'm still grateful to whoever's been reading what i post) i hope your saturn in pisces transition and before has gone well so far. i have a few points. every announcement post may not follow this format, i just like using this for now.
1 - irregular posting: to anyone who may not feel like staying committed to this blog because of my irregular posting schedule, i understand and sadly can not reassure you that i will do so. i have no plans of stopping posting any time soon, however i am a university student and i'm dealing with many personal issues which have been happening for a while. until these things get sorted out i may not be able to post regularly, however i will post.
2 - astro theories: i've had a couple people ask what astro theories are and how they're different from observations. observations are simple and mostly easily seen factual statements about astrology. i say mostly as if i post something like "a square is about a 90 degree angle," this is already true. if i post something like "virgo moons have prominent and shapely eyebrows," it is usually a true statement (look at celebrities) but can be sometimes untrue if there's contrary aspects. theories are not necessarily observations but consist of them. they are a complicated concept or group of concepts which need a longer write-up, reasonings and can be defended if necessary, and most importantly, they are postulated by me, and not a common belief or decision from others.
3 - why i am excited by saturn in pisces: my personal placements are almost entirely saturn-ruled (and my saturn is in cancer :(( ) and these past few years have definitely been rough as saturn went through capricorn and then aquarius (i will not comment on my feelings about pluto in aquarius as i don't want to cry real tears yet. pluto will leave aquarius when i'm about 40(!) years old) and yes, although the saturn transits may have been about 5 years long, i am not very old so it's been a good portion of the important years of my life. also, i'm (mostly) sorry to sound rude and vengeful but most of the people who have caused problems for me are mutable signs. in my chart, i have very few mutable signs, so should i tell you guys to buckle up? although i'll be honest, i'm a lot less alarmed by unfortunate events, panic less and find solutions faster after everything i've gone through with the past few years so you'll come out of the other side happier than when you went in, if that makes you feel any better. if there's any questions or post ideas please let me know. i may not respond quickly but i usually respond, so suggest it anyways.
4 - corollary posts: my theories are just posted for the world to see but i haven't made any corollaries (reasonings for claims made within a theory or smaller theories based on the original) so if there's anything confusing, interesting or you just want to know more, please let me know.
hope you enjoyed your past few days. pluto moves into aquarius from capricorn in less than a week so enjoy the next few days before the next shift. hope to see you guys on tumblr more in the coming months.

Hi. I'm in the Zutara fandom and a great chunk of it happened because I liked their fire-water aesthetic then later on they just made absolute sense to me after reading a lot of analyses/metas about the ship.
I sometimes like Katara and Aang together, especially when they're portrayed as older individuals and I'd like to explore them further. I would like to ask you if there are must-read analyses/metas (or even fics??) you could recommend in support of them?
Hi, anon! I want to apologize for leaving this in my inbox for so long. I wanted to make sure I was able to devote time and mental energy to answer this and I haven't had much of either, lately. Also full disclosure that this is a kataang blog and I mostly block content from other katara and/or aang ships, NOT because I don't support it (ship and let ship and all that!), just because I try to curate my internet and fandom experience to be one that I fully enjoy.
I love love love reading (AND writing) older kataang. I've actually been enjoying middle-aged domestic kataang a lot recently, probably because I am a middle-aged domestic myself, haha. There are a lot of great metas out there. This is one of my favorites, which goes into the three possibilities of Katara and Aang's relationship post-series. Also this one which shows the way kataang's relationship develops over the course of the show. There is also an entire @kataang-meta-archive blog where you can peruse some of the metas that have been written on the ship (the blog hasn't been updated in a bit, and since it's a collection you can expect some metas to be more thoughtful or in-depth than others, but there are a lot of good analyses there).
As for fics, oh, there are so many.
Broken Pieces Still Belong (rated T) by @thinkingisadangerouspastime is not technically a shipping fic, but a canon-compliant exploration of Katara and her grief and her feelings and motivations throughout the second half of book 3 and her journey towards forgiveness.
Blue Ribbons (rated T) by @justoceanmyth is a beautiful exploration of Katara's understanding of and relationship with Aang's tattoos and his scar. It takes place after they're married and has a lot of amazing cultural elements too.
The Ghosts That We Knew (rated T) by @itsmoonpeaches is an amazing, haunting post-war story involving spirity shenanigans, delicious foods, murder attempts, and a vengeful Katara.
Three Times (rated G) by silverthunder is a missing scene fic that explores Katara's feelings about Aang when he's missing during the finale.
Without Water (rated T) by @chocomd is one I'm still in the process of reading (like I said, not a lot of time recently) but it's AMAZING--it takes place in the time between books 2 & 3, where Aang is in a coma.
And since you said you particularly like the idea of them older (I get it, they do seem to get together really young if you're thinking of them in our world/universe), here are a few fics where they still get together young, then break up or are separated for some reason, then (I'm assuming in one case since the fic isn't finished yet!) get back together again when they're older:
Drag You Down (rated G) by @chocomd (still in progress)
This List from @thekataang-fanfiction-archive but be warned that many of them are rated M or E (not all, though).
Unspoken, Undeniable (rated T... so far) is one that I've been working on. It's not a break-up/separation story, but a fake-dating in-universe AU where they don't kiss on the sub or at EIP or in the finale but remain best friends, until Aang comes of age and the powers-that-be start pressuring him into something he doesn't want. It's still in progress as well.
I hope this helps, anon! And know that I'm not trying to "convert" you or anything--I fully support everyone's right to ship and let ship! You asked for recommendations and this is what I could think of off the top of my head (and with extensive help from friends). I do love kataang and love to talk about and write about and explore their relationship, though, so if you have any other questions or want more recommendations of different types, please feel free to reach out! I also want to say I really appreciated the respectful and kind way this ask was phrased, despite "ship wars" (which I do my best to avoid and it sounds like you do, too). Thank you so much for the ask!

12, 16, 18 for the ask game!
love the gerard headerbtw!!!
Sorry omfg I zoned out, I stared at my fuckin wall for like an hour and didn't even realize;; also thanks!! I saw that pic and went ah fuck... i wanna be that... gonna make that my header. I was gonna have it be the Unkillable drum head but it wouldn't fit right;;
12) Your favorite music genres?
Rock is definitely my #1, but I literally am willing to try anything out. I typically only listen to really upbeat or like, energetic music? Basically not like, slow sad or really sappy ballads, even if I like the song. The slow tempos sometimes bum me out. As long as its fun, I'll probably like it! But I grew up with classic rock, so thats always gonna be a fave.
16) Do you have any tattoos? If not, would you like to?
I don't because well, 1) they cost money, 2) I'm terrified of needles being anywhere near me (minus sewing needles... like needles specifically made to go into skin, those I hate)
But I do have ideas I'd love to get if I can muster the courage! This is gonna be a bit long, buckle in.
The first I would want is one that combines all the enemy emblems from the Kingdom Hearts series (not 100% sure how to design it but I just want a KH related tattoo, it's been in my life since I was 3). Emblems for reference:
Tumblr media
The next is for Jonghyun, I want to get his name tattooed behind my ear, where he had one for his She Is album, except maybe on the other side and with a moon motif with it. Also it'd be the Korean spelling and in the She Is font. (This is the album cover, sorry its small)
Tumblr media
And tbfh the most recent one is Franks "Unkillable". This one may phase out, idk, I've had a few tattoo ideas that have because I was just super fixated on a thing, but just... it's powerful man.
Oh and maybe some tarot card thing. Maybe a Page of Swords since I consider that my significator card.
18) Do you like reading? If yes, what's your favorite book?
Ofc I love reading, I want to be a fulltime author someday, reading kinda comes with the job! But even as a kid I was a big reader. Lately it's been... tough? I've read more than I have in years though.
Uuuuh I dunno what I'd say my favorite book is... But I can give some recent favorites! I finished the The Mirror Visitor series by Christelle Dabos recently and I thought it was so good! Also the A Darker Shade Of Magic trilogy by V. E. Schwab was very good! I also read another book by her, Vicious, super quickly, it was like, villainy and best friends turned rivals and like macabre x-men and ofc found family and it was AMAZING! I own the new sequel, Vengeful, but haven't gotten to it yet;;
My to read list is so fucking long, but instead of reading physical books I keep reading fanfics that are novel length... whoops...
Also my current read is Fellowship Of The Ring. I told my bff Holly that I'd finally get to reading it bc LOTR is probably her favorite thing ever.

Finished my goodreads challenge for the year and there's no way I could put together a top 10 bc I read a lot of good books so I'll just do a recap/roundup I guess!!
Kind of started off the year with a reading slump, something I'm hoping to change in 2023. Didn't get through a book til March, when I discovered VE Schwab through Vicious and blazed through her adult books. Was a wild few weeks. I also read Cinder's Adventure in March, which was a wild ride let me tell you.
In April I read the last Wings of FIrst book, flames of hope. I also watched Netflix Heartstopper, which is not a novel, but I immediately read the graphic novel, watched it a few more times for good measure, and then read all her books. Loveless was actually a reread, but I did enjoy them.
That also kinda kicked me into an agressively looking for queer books to read phase. Made me realize how badly I needed them, I guess. Cinderella Is Dead, Evelyn Hugo, Cemetery Boys, all of Casey McQuiston's books, and a handful of others were read in May and June and July. Also read the first two ember in the ashes and continued my Schwab marathon with Gallant, Monsters of Verity, and the first cassidy blake and everyday angel.
This was also the year I reread Percy Jackson, which was a lot of fun. Got through the whole first series and half of HoO over the summer. I still need to finish that, actually. I also reread Renegades, and Vicious and Vengeful in June. (2nd of 3 times reading Vicious!) It has been an exceptionally reready year.
This summer my local bookstore had a summer reading challenge. There were like 25 books to read and I got through about half of them; fewer than I'd been shooting for, but still good all things considered. Most of them were lame. some were books I've already mentioned that were coincidentally on the list. Best book I got out of that? The Count of Monte Cristo. I read it in August, and it was definitely my longest book of the year.
This fall I also fell into a reading slump, busy with school. I read the next two cassidy blake books, Cursed released and I got to meet Marissa Meyer (!!!), I read Schwab's ExtraOrdinary and hated the art, Ninth House, but wasn't that many by my standards. Sad times. College is unfortunate like that sometimes.
Just this month I've been able to get back into reading more. I reread Six of Crows, read Children of Blood and Bone and the rest of Everyday Angel, They Both Die at the End, The Girl from the Sea, and yes. These Violent Delights (the gay one). Jumped in at the last minute as one of my top books of the year. I am thinking about it right now and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon.
Tonight I finished reading Vicious for the third time. I liked it that much. Definitely my top book of the year, and the only one I feel like I can definitively rank...it gets messy after #1. My sister bought me a signed copy for my birthday, and I can't wait to finally get it in my clutches next year.
And next year? I'm hoping to finish my read/reread of the Riordanverse (I've never actually read the last 3 or 4), reread Crooked Kingdom and Vengeful, and maybe some Marie Lu, read The Archived (I've been avoiding it because idw be through with schwab), Warcross, Children of Virtue and Vengence, and the last two ember in the ashes books. Also planning to get through a bunch of other books that I own but haven't read because reasons and reading slumps. Excited for Hell Bent, The Stolen Heir, Stars and Smoke, With a Little Luck and, of course, Threads of Power. I miss my babies and I want the book title.
On the off chance you read all this rambling, thanks bestie ily

✨ Spooky Recs✨
I read a lot of fanfictions... More than I am proud of. I thought I should recommend as I go before I lose sight of their existence among the sea of my favorites.
Since past few days I have been craving for some creepy, unnerving fanfics that will keep me restless and awake at night. I remembered my favorites and wanted to read more of the kind so I looked up, patiently going through each story that sounded compelling. I also revisited old stories for nostalgia's sake.
Of course, rare as they are, in Naruto fandom no less, it's even harder to find a horror and mystery fic that is well written, not dropped under 2 chapters, and really keeps your attention.
🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
Tumblr media
Genre: Horror, Mystery, Comedy
I've rated 4 aspects of the work -
Writing – I don't judge writing based solely on the grammar and vocabulary. I also consider how the author expands upon a subject, if they are consistent with the facts, if they are able to keep the attention of the readers regardless of their creative writing skills.
Characters – If the characters are well-developed, in their given character, if OCs have any real significance to the story.
Plot – How gripping is the storyline, if the story sticks to its original plot, the structure of the story, plot holes.
Flow – Mother-of-slow-burn, slow-but-steady, steady, fast, I-am-speed

When the flowers cry : TCOOKIES777 || M || AO3/FFN || SasuSaku || Goth Horror || Post-Canon, set during Blank Period || Ongoing
When one of the greatest medical-nin in the world goes missing in what should have been a simple delivery to the Land of Spring’s Hidden Snow Village, the rest of Team 7 must reunite to find her. But even the most powerful team of shinobi will find themselves challenged in a battle against the supernatural. With Sasuke's return, vengeful ghosts of the past will test him and his love.
My thoughts : One of the best stories I've read in a while, and top tier SS stories. I read this in one sitting. I never listen to music while reading, preferring silence, but for this one, I suggest you do as the author says. Also, keep some tissues and food with you. This story is major in mystery and minor in horror but otherwise full of SS fluff.

Flow: Steady, if a bit confusing (but that's why it's mystery)

Kyuro : silver_shot || T || AO3 || SasuSaku || Mystery || Post-Canon || Complete
“Oh,” says Naruto, “well, its sort of like that. Except in this village, the story has a way more darker ending – it basically goes like this: the girl and the guy plan to run away together. The guy steals a bunch of treasure, and stashes it away. But then, when he goes to get the girl at her village, he kills her and decides to run away with all that money. But then he is killed by the guards of the girls village and now they're both dead and the treasure is hidden away somewhere”. Sasuke stares blankly at the blond, “that story makes no sense”.
My thoughts : I know you must be thinking the same thing as Sasuke – "makes no sense". I did too, but it's a pretty cool short story. It lies on the funny, creepy side that slowly starts to lose its funny touch. SS makes stupid mistakes later on but it could be because they are MCs. The ending is very ambiguous. It's not my favorite mystery but it is something. Enjoyable read but not something I will pick again.

Moon stuttering in the sky : xfrinz || T || AO3 || Gen || Mystery || Pre-Shippuden || One-shot
Kakashi is suspicious of many things about Haruno Sakura. Too many things about her don't make sense, with too many incongruous explanations.
My thoughts : Author of this story just summarised Pre-Shippuden in less than 4k words and made some tiny changes to it. Not much though. One of my favorite gen fics yet. Read it if you haven't yet. You'll feel more sad than thrilled tbh. But worth it.

Breath mints : silver_shot || T || AO3 || SasuSaku || Comedy-Mystery || Post-Canon || Ongoing (maybe)
Their home no longer exists with the life it once had – in fact no settlement thrives anymore; they exist only in a snapshot that contradicts time itself. Families within their own homes sleep in a slumber that they cannot wake from. Those that were chatting on the street prior to the event simply drop their heads and remain unresponsive.
My thoughts : I picked it up for Mystery but I stayed for Comedy. But of course that's not to say supernatural elements in this story is not it, but it sure pales in comparison to effortless humor in this story. Lee and Kiba pair is something you don't see often but they get along too well here. Charactisation is on point as well. SS angst! + NS angst (but it's downplayed)
Writing: 10/10

The Curse : sincerelyLen || T || FFN || SasuSaku || Horror || Post-Canon || Ongoing
Team 7 is unexpectedly assigned an S-Ranked Mission involving an unsolved mystery of 10 years. An eerie adventure that will test their teamwork, strengths, and greatest fears. Do you believe in Curses?
My thoughts : My all-time favourite horror Naruto fanfiction. To me, this sets the standard of how mystery and horror elements should be handled. I have never been able to get this story out of my mind even it's been years. Perfect charactisation of Team 7 with Smart-yet-Stupid!Sakura, I-can-fight-aliens-and-reanimated-corpses-but-keep-ghosts-away-from-me!Naruto and I-dont-get-paid-enough-for-this!Sasuke. I especially love OCs here. They kinda reminds me of Pillars from KnY. You must read this story, loosely based on Zombie apocalypse + curse concept.

Silent High : Istoria || T || FFN || Gen || Mystery || Post-Canon || Complete
A bit of the Silent Hill series mixed in with Naruto. Trapped in an illusion whose rules are unknown, they struggle to find answers before darkness consumes them.
My thoughts : One of the best mystery fanfictions I've read. I especially loved how this story handled Genjutsu in the best possible way it could without it turning into some cliche, ghost story. Though really, this story has shown what my greatest fear actually is. I will never be able to leave my back open to a wheelchair. This story has simple writing yet it gives you creeps with the twists and turns. A must read one because it is unlike any other in this list.

Silence of the Damned : Daystar Clarion || T || FFN || Gen || Psychological Horror, Mystery(?) || Pre-Shippuden || One-Shot
When Naruto wakes up to a dead body in his bathroom, he begins a quick spiral into madness.
My thoughts : Listen to Halsey's Control while reading this. Quite chilling, deals with mental issues and morbid but in a fascinating way. It gives a new meaning to Dark!Naruto, but one that actually makes sense. I never saw the ending coming... I had something else in mind and I was convinced it would be, but nope. Here's a sequel to this One-Shot (Uzumaki's War) which I never picked up.

Naruto loses the fight and Sakura is a trophy of war.
My thoughts : A very twisted NS, if you squint. It's not horror but it might as well be... it is still a disturbing story to see from the eyes of Sakura. Quite chilling to be in Sakura's shoes. But I love this because it is one shot and I loved the ending.

Your actions don't make you a monster. Your reasons do.
My thoughts : There's a reason why Shino is my favourite team 8 member. In my opinion, Shino is also one of the strongest Shinobi of his generation. His clan techniques are just that horrifying. This story is testament to that. He is so terrible.

She gave him names to kill, in order not to be killed herself. But having blood on her hands was turning out to be much worse than dying. "…There's still round 2…3…4…" When does this game end? She asked. "Don't you see, Sakura?" He said, "It never does."
My thoughts : I read this story a long time ago and have read this twice. Personally, it has the most interesting concept of all stories in the list. It reminds me of Vocaloid series, "Bookmark of the end". Kind of. To those who are thinking of picking this up, go ahead! It's a great book and has one of the best suspense I've read in Fandom. BUT, it has been stopped in mother-of-all-cliffhangers and Author is MIA for 4 years now. But, all things considered, it remains to be one of the best stories I've read.

Monomoth : Ohtze || M || FFN/AO3 || SasuSaku || Horror || AU || Incomplete
Everything ends, eventually. Eight years after the war, Sakura's unhinged and Sasuke's obsessed. The fields are filled with corpses.
My thoughts : I read this story right after "The Curse", my favourite. From what I remember, Sakura and Sasuke are both mentally deranged, in different ways. Lots of death and gore to stomach, so not for weak readers. There's no speak of fluff in this one. Zero, Zilch, Nada. I wouldn't call it your classic 'Horror', but it is very disturbing, so psychological horror is more like it. Don't eat food while reading this one. Did I mention how Sakura is mentally disturbed beyond help in this one? And Sasuke is obsessed. If these suit your tastes, go ahead.

I have read your peppermint rot-- I just haven't had the energy to reblog them but I really like it so far!
For asks: I don't know if you get that out of the fic, but how does Sir Lanyon feel about the fact that he accidentally killed his "son", more than the fact that he killed someone at all? How does Henry feel about it-- unless we are getting that revealed later so you can't say? Jfjfjf
Criticism: so far I think you have done really good! All I have noticed is that you tend to mix punctuation a bit (I have no energy to go read through all chapters so I'm going by memory rn) like you tend to do ',,' a lot instead of '.' or '...' if that makes sense? Sometimes it does feel like feeling descriptions are a little lacking but that can very well be a style choice and I just like to have things obvious for me fjfjf
Otherwise I think you are doing really good! I might be nagging a bit and I certainly do not mean to do that, but if you'd ever feel like wanting a beta reader, my offer still stands, I promise I won't bite ;;
I had not considered writing Lanyon Sr seem upset about Henry's death! Tbh I had kinda been thinking that despite being his "favorite" the minute Jekyll was dead Sr had simply stopped caring about him. Though I maybe can make him a bit sad
I dont think how Henry feels about it will ever be directly mentioned, it feels like an unnecessary detail to me when I think about with the whole story. The fact Jekyll is haunting Lanyon Sr. In the first place and all the "gifts" Hastie is about to get, feels like it conveys, at the very least, that Jekyll is quite vengeful. How Jekyll feels is more of an "Actions speak louder than words" type of deal
",,," simply has a different vibe from "..." and I do not take criticism on this /lh
Yeah honestly better descriptions would even give me a stonger wordcount. But I simply do not care for writing details bbdkzbdks. Like I could expand Sr.'s running in chapter 3 to like a full paragraph of it's own. his quick breathing, his heart beating strongly in his chest, possibly even pushing servants out of the way, the lighting strikes illuminating the halls (that's what all those flashes in chapter 3 were btw, while Lanyon couldn't hear anything in that room, I was simply gonna make that clear in 4 rather than 3 bsksbks) this is all due to a combination of me not wanting to like I said earlier, but more so me not thinking about it. When I'm writing Hastie running from point a to point b, I think about him getting there rather than the journey itself. Also when I'm describing that the floors are tile or whatever it always feels forced to me. I just, consider many things to be unnecessary details bdksnxks.
Though! I have noticed that I am a bit better about adding details if I'm imaging the story like a comic outline, as if I'm gonna draw the scene "oh what does Lanyon Sr.'s room look like? I bet itd have a rug and long curtains covering long windows, everything is definitely well made and crafted. Oo I better write that down." The lack of descriptions can be like, 1/3 style choice though, I like having the reader stuck in Hastie's pov, they can't know things he doesn't, cant pay attention to details that Hastie doesn't pay attention to. And they cant know what all of London or others feel about the situation, not even knowing how Jekyll feels, unless Lanyon Sr. hears or mentions anything about it.
Thatd be spoilers though, nothing new is gonna happen until the end to be fair, but spoilers nonetheless. Also I wiil bite *chomps you*
For a real answer, I dont doubt youd be nice about it, and I dont doubt having you as a beta reader would help me alot. But I just, don't know? Everytime you ask the question my mind just instantly becomes "?????" Idk why but I just, don't know

A few questions for your ocs 😊
1. What do you consider to be their greatest strength? What is thier weakness?
2. What is your Oc's favorite thing to do? Why?
3. Tell me about your oc's! I want to know about them 😊
ooohhhh thankyou thankyou thankyou! 💞 I am so excited to get to do this! I apologize for it taking so long to get done! This week was the start of my 3rd semester in college so it’s been a little bit crazy.
So I'm gonna be basing this entire ask on my newest Oc, my Dragonborn, Bealka "Alka" Spear-Bane because tbh I have more Oc(s) than I rightly know what to do with at the moment xD
Tumblr media
1. What do you consider to be their greatest strength? What is their weakness?
Bealka has a very critical and intelligent mind, and one of her greatest strength I would have to say would be her ability to understand strategy as well as her overwhelming compassion in most circumstances.
But those things are sometimes out shadowed by her callousness which developed after the death of her entire family at the hands of the of the Empire. She can become wrathful and even vengeful at times which clouds her judgment and causes her to become almost unrecognizable to those who love her. But this side of her almost always has to be triggered by some instance or situation. Also while she isn't normally inclined to jealousy when provoked she can become so.
2. What is your Oc's favorite thing to do? Why?
While Bealka isn't exactly magically inclined and most certainly prefers a spear/sword and a shield to anything else, she truly does find a lot of pleasure from enchanting. She counts it as one of her hobbies (along with reading smithing), though secretly she is rather good at it and perhaps in another life would have went on to study it more thoroughly.
3. Tell me about your oc's! I want to know about them 😊
I did a little reveal for Bealka when I first started playing Skyrim again which y'all can find here! I don’t want to spam anyone's dashboard with it again haha.
Since then however I have 100% committed to her romancing the absolutely wonderful mod follower, Kaidan 2 created by the even more wonderful LivTempleton! (If you haven't tried him out I can not recommend him HIGHLY ENOUGH!) I headcanon he and Bealka adopting Sophie from Windhelm as well as having two children on their own and settling down in the Rift after all the scaly world eater business is over.
The rest is in the works since I'm still currently in her playthrough right now. But I'm defiantly gonna be posting more about her as I continue with her story!

Sehnsucht - A big disappointment in your life her name’s Anna.
Mein Teil - A random fact about yourself i’m an organizing freak, i love to make lists, schedules, to have everything planned and under control. surprises and being spontaneous doesn’t freak me out, however.

Nebel - Describe your favorite fantasy idk if it’s supposed to be my fantasy or a fantasy movie or book or whatever.whatever the case is, it would be too long an answer and i’m hella tired, so es tut mir Leid.
Haifisch - Have you ever wanted someone dead?   no, i’m not vengeful nor hateful, everyone should be able to live their life. if they’re out of my way, then who am i to judge whether or not should they be alive.

Dexter Entry
I miss Dexter... If things were the way they used to be, all we'd be doing is texting, having lots of boring, empty conversation anyway... if you can even call it that...
We haven't even gone on a date in about 3 or 4 weeks anyway. And we haven't had sex since January (he was content with getting BJs in his car... l-o-fucking-l). There wasn't much of a relationship there, really.
He was taking me for granted. Things seemed to go further south after I tried to break up with him two weeks ago. It was as if he partially lost interest. But all that time, my interest never waned.
I was reading through social media posts on Nigerian men and how they deal with women. Those posts are always enlightening and help put things into perspective. Then again, none of it is information I've never heard before...
He basically doesn't value me. While I think he appreciates my personality and attention, it really isn't enough. I'm truly nothing compared to his wife. All his love is for her.
*sigh* Cue the sad violins.
Yeah... None of this is new to you guys...
Now, I'm feeling vengeful. I want to show him that I am worth so much more than the value he gave me. It's my petty side and obviously because I'm hurt. Yes, this energy could be channeled elsewhere... But revenge would soothe my weary soul...
In this kind of situation (where are guy takes you for granted), the most appropriate revenge is to make him jealous. Tell him about another guy that's courting me (an imaginary guy, of course).
The problem is that it could be painfully obvious to him that I'm lying (new guy suddenly appears during a breakup). But it's all in how the subject comes up. I can't volunteer the information... He has to stumble across it...
::does the evil hand rub, Mr. Burns style::
I need to come up with the details of "the other" guy tonight. Honestly, this is always fun for me (I wrote a lot of fiction in college)...
- Most important detail of new guy: where did we meet?
- What does he does he do for a living?
- Where does he live?
Those are the main questions all guys will have about your new love interest if they care enough.
Let the pettiness ensue.
Additionally, if Dexter he reaches out to me this week, I'll let him know that I'm done. That argument last week wore me out and I'm through.

How to create a fantasy name (I am not sober and sleep/food deprived, it's easier to find stuff on tumblr than in my actual notes):
For monsters just use a gory word, any word used to reffer to an animal, and a location that sounds vaguely European. "bloody hound of Steincrust", "Arsmounth's faceless serpent", "New York's ugliest dude".
Than you need the guy who takes care of him, I am very much agienst subtlety so you need a word that reffers to their profession, the method they get rid of the monster, and something identifiable about our little guy (their name is find but boring). "Astora's most vengeful knight" is good enough but "Locksmithimg Locksmith who Locksmiths" is the stuff GRRM jack's off to.
And you need a Kojima character. A Kojima character is a character with little personality to the point where the fans are more responsible for making him a real character, must have very heavy handed gay subtext which is where the Kojima part comes in. You also need a Kojima name, there are many ways of doing it: take something you like and just remove a word and add one Kojima used to name one of his characters, needs gay subtext eg "king gizzard and the lizard wizard" -> "King big man and the deepthroat wizard". These two will be helpful guides for our Locksmith. You could also just make it sound like an AI anutogenerated FurAfinity account name, "mother bear" "slimy eel" "lustful owl" etc. This is the barbarian friend that will assist out hero on his quest and a childhood friend.
You mustn't forget the character the author put there for wish fulfilment. The difference between this one and the previous one is that not one will care enough about this character go give them a personality, both the fantom and the author. This one is very simple as all you have to do is stop caring in the slightest. Use the real name of your crush from years ago over whom you still haven't gotten over: "Kurtt Kobain", you could also just type random letters that just kind of feel like a fantasy name: "Amethyeth Quesliv". She (this character has a 95% percent of being a women for SOME mysterious reason) will also need to have a title, like previously just make shit up: High Priestesses Kurtt.
Shit I forgot about the plot, but that's usually the easiest part. You need to remember the only 5 scenes that exist in fantasy: "boring men ponder", "battle and magic stuff I always skip", "tavern", "retelling what you remember from the hex-crawl that was the last week's DnD session", "things you made up about the world on the spot and will try to pretend like they were a part of your cohesive world from the moment you sat down to write your novel 12 years ago". There is also the mood your scene will have: "boring", "gay", "whimsical but failing at it", "look how actually heterosexual I am... *does mood 2*", and that's it, there is nothing more.
But you need structure to put it in, I hear of a three act structure so I'll try that (I cannot read so I'll just have to guess how to do it). Act 1: introduce your characters, only one gay scene is allowed here, and you need something to start the story after about 200 pages of the characters fucking about. Act 2: characters try and fail, they should also basically give up but in a way where you can very easily just undo it in 15 minutes of writing, magic stuff goes here. Act 3: this is where the battle scenes are, you should also kill off any characters you based off your friends here, they'll will surly appreciate it after the 12 years of me not talking to them writing this book. Act 4: syke bitch there are still 100 pages left, this is where you put all the world building and happy ending you can think of because the agency needs the book to not end with an orgy >:(
Now you take out some dice and assign 2-5 scenes per act, and roll some more to assign some moods to the scenes.
You have a story and characters, but you forgot about writing stuff. You need to know how to write 3 things: exposition, battle scenes, and character interaction. Exposition is easy: just keep pressing g the middle button on your phone's keyboard and than do the only editing you will ever to of your book
Eg. "Old Town and the lizard of the dark night at the Royal Palace of Manchester Steincrust are now looking for anyone with the thinnest skills of all kinds. They have boobs. They have been very active with their Witchery series of videos but they have not seen any results yet. "
And bam, one word had to be edited but besides that you have a paragraph in 2 minutes people will skip rather than a paragraph in 2 hours people will skip.
Battle scenes work by the "Yes and" rule, keep yes-and-ing the shit out of your prose, yes I do teach at the yale institute of literature, no you can't come to my lectures. This is the part where you let out all your childhood games of pretend be the only thing you can even remember for your inspiration, that's bad because you should also rip off anime.
Character interaction is the only thing that requires effort, assuming you are not going to copy and paste stuff from FanFiction.net agien. You could also look up "fantom jokes" and fill in the blacks, eg:
"Locksmith: I think a ghost of an owl might have possessed one of us!
Deepthroat wizard: Who?
*everyone looks at Deepthroat in shock*"
But you can do that only so many times before you can't justify using the same joke for the 6th time. In these cases just point out a common fantasy trope in a vague attempted at being introspective about your work.
And now you can write 95% of you book, the only thing left is the acceptance speech for your Nobel in literature, I'll leave that one up to you as you should have now have enough experience to do it yourself.
Syke bithc this wasn't written by me at all and was infact copied from the English textbook that Jorkien Rolkien Rolkien Tolkien studied before he wrote the bibble.
