I think on this fine Saturday afternoon it's a good opportunity to take a breather and remember that there are really no ethical paparazzi pictures. Every single one is inherently exploitative.
Just because photos were taken on a movie set, when someone is 'working,' does not make the practice any less invasive and creepy. Imagine just going about your day, doing your job and having some weirdo snapping pictures of you to sell without your consent for others to endlessly repost online.
There are thousands of pictures of your favourite actor online already. Plenty taken with his knowledge and consent. I'd really like to see more of them on my dash, rather than the creeper shots.
And don't get me started how disseminating these pictures directly leads to people going to said sets. What starts off as admiring how good someone looks has real world implications.
No, hanging around a movie set and disrupting people doing their jobs is not harmless fun or a way to show your appreciation.
If you hang around a movie set, you are a stalker.
Don't tell me that it's okay to take your online admiration for someone offline. You may admire him but he does not, and will never, personally know you. He will never be your friend/boyfriend/daddy. He is a stranger.
The only way meeting your favourite actor is going to happen is at a convention or maaaaaybe a movie premiere if you're incredibly fortunate. You know, places they appear specifically to meet fans (or not in the case of premieres, where the purpose is to promote a movie. Which is also completely understandable if actors don't stop. You are not owed an interaction).
Of course, you cannot help it if you randomly run into someone you admire in the wild. Even then, consider that they probably won't be all too thrilled to be approached in public by a complete stranger. It's up to you to gauge the situation, but remember there is a person at the heart of all of this.
Boundaries and respect are a kindness which deserves to be extended to each and every human being regardless of their looks/talent/fame/wealth.
Fandoms blur those lines a little too often for my liking and I think just scrutinising what you're interacting with, or what behaviour you could be possibly falling down that slippery slope towards is nice to do every once in a while.
I mean no malice with this post and it is not directed at anyone in particular. It's something I cannot help but feel strongly about because I've seen this destructive cycle time and again in fandoms over the years. It's not healthy and it makes us all a little bit more disconnected from our humanity for it...
#not naming names but....... screw it#pedro pascal#pedro pascal fandom#accepting you will never interact with or meet this man will set you free from misery and jealousy i promise#he's great! if you think he's great watch another movie! write about a character! edit some photos of him! make gifs!#there are many MANY ways to engage with his work which don't include reposting creepy invasive photos taken without his consent#it's bs that this is just 'part of the job' because WHY... why should it be any different than any other job??#i know we always venerate talent and put people on pedestals.... that's a tale as old as time#but seeing him blow up last year was wild to witness and some of the behaviour from newer fans is very disheartening to see#he's just a human who poops and farts and is a dick sometimes like the rest of us. let's not treat him like a god thanks#spud rants#a lot LOL#i've bottled this up for a bit because the way this developed in real time to people actually going to the set is. what#and don't 'if pedro was in your city' because NO??? i wouldn't STALK SOMEONE? there's 0 justification for it#i have far better things to do than stalk people#i may be an autistic flop but i'm not a CREEPY STALKER autistic flop thanks x#anyway like i said this is truly not @ anyone in particular and i don't think you are a terrible person if you interacted with the photos#but please just remember there is a person at the heart of all this#a very talented and attractive person yes... but a person all the same#i would truly hate to be famous it gives me so much anxiety just the thought of the constant scrutiny#good thing i never will be LOL#fandom wank#discourse

Hello! I'm not sure if you do single characters or not but What if the reader (who's a big fan of horror) wanted to show Alastor some classic horror movies. Their reasoning? "So you can make fun of it," If you do a collection of characters, then it can be like a movie night for the hotel.
Hiya love!! Yes, I do! In fact I'm currently working on a longer Alastor fic at the moment :)) it's like this request was made for me bc I 100% will force Alastor to watch the Scream franchise with me 😭 it's my fave. I'm a mega horror fan, haha! Maybe I'll have to write for slashers again like I used to! I'll just write Al since he deserves some love for himself!! Pls excuse me bc now I'm gonna be thinking about 1920s GhostFace Alastor 😩😩🩷💕

Getting Alastor to have anything to do with post 1930s technology was a task and a half. He might've made a deal with Vaggie not to have anything to do with such frivolous technology, but you weren't Vaggie. You were his sweet, dear partner. And he'd never admit just how tightly wrapped he was around your finger.
He seemed to genuinely enjoy the first few Halloween movies as well as the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Alastor took a great of interest with Hannibal Lector from The Silence of Lambs. He was deeply considering watching the television series you told him of. He thinks Freddy Krueger is a piece of shit and wished he could do him in with his own hands.
The next movie, however, seemed more susceptible to being torn to pieces by his ever-watchful eye.
"So the point of this picture show is what... Billy is angry because his mother abandoned him and he doesn't know how to deal with those big feelings at his age?" Alastor gives an indignant snort, looking bemused at the old television screen currently playing a VHS of Wes Craven's 1996 slasher classic Scream. That's as new of tech as Alastor would allow, so you made do.
Snorting out a laugh, you lean against his arm. Alastor's crackling gaze flickers to you his smile softening around the edges. He did very much adore your laugh.
"That about sums it up, yes," you grin, biting down on the corner of your chocolate bar.
Alastor leans his back against the sofa, pulling the blanket wrapped around you two closer. "I don't know how that Macher boy thinks that peer pressure is a justifiable defense for murdering people." He unwraps his own piece of bitter chocolate and pops it into his mouth. "Own up to your choices, for Heaven's sake. And people find these two attractive? Are they not in love with one another? Surely anyone with two good working eyes could see this."
The sixth Scream movie damn near has Alastor foaming at the mouth, each and every movie felt as repetitive as the last with slight twists and changes. He was polite to keep most critiques to himself, eyeing how much you clearly enjoyed showing something so near and dear to your heart. While the plot was rather lackluster, he had to admit he was interested in the severe brutality of the sixth and despite his opposition to new media, felt that it was a decent enough film. With such a repetitive storyline, he didn't really expect that sort of twist.
"There's one more we can watch!" You grin, holding up your copy of Scary Movie. Alastor's eyes look ready to pop out of his skull as if to say 'Oh god, another??' "I don't think you'll guess who the GhostFace is!"
"Is it the man called Doofy?"

my online fandom experience in 2007-2008:
-First learned about Death Note by randomly seeing L in an AMV on Youtube in late 2007 and being intrigued by how he looked. Have never watched an anime in my life but wanting to know more about this emo lookin' dude. Found some website where I could stream it, immediately getting spoiled for his death by somebody in the comments on episode 1 (the 2000s was RAMPANT with gleeful spoiler trolls, these were the days of people driving by Harry Potter midnight grand opening lineups for the new books to scream SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE type shit)
-Binge-watched the whole show in a couple of days. Immediately haunted by the "what if"s of Lawlight and start reading fanfiction.net fics about it. Wrote a gushing review on a fanfic and start talking in emails with the writer who writes back to me. I think at the time the most popular Lawlight fic on the site was Poison Apple by RobinRocks (which I didn't read, because I didn't like reading AUs back then, nor did I like the idea of mixing Death Note with Disney princess imagery... my absolute fave fic was Coexistence is Boredom by sakurazukamori6, which was still being updated at the time)
-The Another Note novel and the How to Read 13 were already out, so most of the stuff the fans know now about the characters was already known and being used in the fan stuff by then. I bought the entire manga set at my local bookstore and read the first five volumes of it, but not the rest (because back then I was one of the people who lost a lot of interest in the plot once L was dead)
-Got invited to follow a popular fanfic writer's Death Note LiveJournal where people are doing most of the things you see them doing here, analysis and shipping and fic and memes. However a lot of the journals and communities were private and accessible by invite only, so I only ever saw stuff there as it was filtered through the journal of that one welcoming fandom friend I made
-Got into random private email conversations with the odd fan once I start posting my own fics on ff.net (I wrote one of the very first Beyond Birthday fics). At some point I remember a girl who called herself diane-chan from somewhere in South America emailing me a doujinshi she had scanlated (I think it was called Taikutsu by Balgus REC) and emailing some pics and penpal like letters back and forth. Connecting with other fans was a very slow and individual-like experience compared to something like connecting over social media is now. There wasn't much of anything like online group chats taking place in real-time, per se. I suppose MAYBE you could create one on MSN Messenger or something, but the experience of being in a fandom in general online was just much more fragmented and based on personal individual relationships, I think. Unless you were meeting up with people in person at conventions or something...
-Ships didn't have ship names like Lawlight back then! It was either called L/Light or Light/L, because whichever name came first in the pair indicated who you liked as the top (or the "seme;" people would often say "seme" or "uke "rather than top or bottom back then). They were treated almost like two totally different ships, and you definitely had to tag your fics accordingly or else people would get mad (I am very glad that ship names now exist)
-Omegaverse didn't exist back then either! That was a whole new world I had to get familiar with once I got back into this fandom around 2016 lol (and I still have never really fully got onboard tbh)
-Watched the occasional fan videos on YouTube, often things like Windows Movie Maker slideshows set to music with fanart of the characters or cosplays and the like
-It used to be REALLY hard for me to find clips of the show to use or edit or anything like that. The English dub still wasn't out yet anywhere I could watch it when i was into the show in 2008, but I remember hearing L and Light's English voice clips and thinking that L's was great and Light's was a bit cringe in comparison to the Japanese one. I wanted to watch it again but I didn't want to have to have an internet connection at all times to watch it, so I bought some shitty ripped illegal DVD of the Japanese dub on eBay from China, and it came with extremely lolworthy broken English subtitles (stuff like Light reading that passage out loud in class and the subtitles saying "the wisdom of the sheepus"... that one is burned into my brain)
-Trying to connect with other fans in person about it was not really possible for me where I lived? Being into anime was considered extremely cringe at my school at the time. And other people I knew who had watched or read Death Note either simply weren't that interested in it anymore to the same degree, or were usually straight dudebros who were only into it so far as to think about which character was smarter than which
ANYWAY I say all this just to reminisce, and I will always enjoy how easy it is to connect and share the content with the other fans like it is nowadays, because I remember the days when that was much more difficult hahaha

changes i liked and disliked in the rwrb movie 📨
ohmygod. i'm finally gonna talk about this movie, aren't i? i've held myself off from making original creations like video or photo edits for this piece of media, and i still am, because i feel like if i start making one i won't stop, but i think a textpost can be an exception because i've made tweets and threads about it on twitter already.
anyway, i just wanted to rattle off on these since these opinions have been simmering up on me since the movie first came out. lol i watched it 15 hours later on a whim with bar-in-hell expectations. karma got to me, because i ended up getting brainrot over it.
this is a long overdue post.
the aging up is both a yes and a no for me. a yes because i have previously never been opposed to aging up YA characters (technicaly rwrb is more new adult that young adult but whatever, it's teetering) like shadowhunters, and matthew does a great job of justifying this choice: grounding their romance into a more mature and real love. it's not to say that young love isn't valid or real enough, but the decision to make firstprince in their late 20s makes the discussion of forever and their adamant to fight for their love is more realistic and believable. with that said, it's also a no for me because their ages are also detrimental to the timeline and character arcs. for instance, henry's grief hits him like a ten wheeler as a teenager, and the whole explanation that casey writes for his grief is that he expected to deal with something as magnanimous as that kind of loss when he's older and not when his brain hasn't even fully developed. another instance is alex's having to grapple with his career choices after college!
matthew's best change is quite possibly firstprince exchanging the key and the ring. hands down, much better. i do understand that since the novel is in third person limited (alex's pov), it makes sense at a literary level (lol) for alex to own both the key and the necklace ("two homes side by side" is a BANGER line), but the equal complete devotion that the two have for each other at that point is excellent through that showcase of exchange. i own part of you, you own part of me. it's such a great display for the trope of "token of love." romcoms are back, baby! cinema is back!
worst change, then, is probably alex's parents being still happily married and in love. my hot take is that i understand why june was cut out and she's not a huge loss, compared to alex growing up as a child of divorce. making that change to alex having parents who are still together removes a huge dimension to alex's characterization because a lot of his issues stem from that, mainly his abandonment issues. you can see the full effect in the scene where he storms the kensington palace. i understand and respect it, matthew essentially explaining that because this was a different henry, then this was a different alex to — that he needed to be softer. he was more pleasing, desperate, confused with "can we please talk?" instead of the brash "your royal fucking highness!" because that's what it is: confusion. movie!alex couldn't fully understand why someone would just up and leave like that, whereas book!alex was immediately angry because he knows full well when someone leaves him. (*ahem* his dad) but anyway someone discusses it here in such great detail and i very much agree!
oh another good change is showing henry's pov during the email leak. nicholas... sir... ugh. fine, we're getting you that damn oscar. but seriously, he did great. t'was devastating seeing his face crumble, and the one show/display of roual authority, of hot flash of anger, of power, just to talk to alex was even sadder because that was the only time he uses it.
another yes and no change for me is "history huh." the placement of the most popular line from being im the email to being said out loud privately for the two of them is something i'm divided about. yes: there is a great deal of comfort that comes with henry getting to hear that from alex's own lips. it's very sweet and romantic and yeah tbh tbh i would've melted into a puddle right then and there. that there is a comfort that comes with at least that wasn't taken away from them. but no: the whole point of that being in the email (along with bad metaphors, an incomplete list, the story of the prince born with his heart on the outside of his body, etc.) is that these two's privacy was violated. the whole world read those words that were just meant for the two of them, but the public ended up using that line for their banners and flags and signs. and it's important why? it was then made into a form of reclamation. that even if they went through shit and worried about the consequences of being public figures, that there was hope that at least a surprisingly large number of the general public voiced their support, that they were backed by the people they were serving. removing that from the email in the movie... well, you get the rest.
should the height difference even be talked about? that's a factor that is 80% outside of anyone's control lmao??? but i do think it's worth noting that i've grown kinda fond with it that now i imagine taylor & nick's physical builds when reading firstprince fanfics plus having a taller alex who has a height complex instead of a shorter alex who has a height insecurity is so fucking funny. what a great running gag. the gaslighting of the audience into thinking henry is taller is 10/10. best lampshading ever, actually.
henry standing up for himself to the king is both a yes and no too. yes: matthew's justification is pretty nice. not only does it save them production costs to hire a princess catherine actress and pacing issues, it also makes sense narratively. the movie has written henry as voiceless throughout it really well, so for him to save himself is a great reason for why. but also it's a no for me because it's equally important that catherine the negligent mother starts compensating for her absences by battling generational conflict lmao. there's also the factor of a woman saving a man too! the rwrb universe emphasizes quite well about how henry and alex are surrounded by these powerful female figures who are near and dear to them in their lives. to grow up learning from them. point is, movie!henry standing up for himself is a nice choice because he's older. and at the same time, book!henry being supported by her mother is a great choice because he needed to be affirmed with a larger support system in his younger age.
making henry the one to clarify at first that their relationship should be casual instead of alex is a big yes for me. the mixed signals henry does in the book makes for borderline inconsistent characterization, but he's younger there so it makes sense for us to be confused. but henry in the movie "explaining himself to alex for the past year" is a great cleaning up because at the start, henry has been clear on "ok but we can't do this long term."
this has been sitting on my drafts for too long (weeks) so i'll just post this now. and maybe update it, idk. this post feels too incomplete but i don't want to sit on it, so. whatever here it is. 🤣
edit:. i discovered this amazing podcast who talk about it in great detail and 90% of their opinions i agree with! imm frothing at the mouth with how they describe and reason with each change and i just 🥺 want to share how cool they are. [part 1, part 2]

Venture Bros series finale thoughts (spoilers)
Watching the final work in a long running series (I started watching around 2012) is always a bit bitter-sweet, especially as a Venture Bros fans where there have been two or three year gaps between seasons, and after season 7 there was a lot of uncertainty of whether there would be another season or movie special. It was also extremely frustrating that hours after the movie came out, before most people had gotten to watch it, it was announced that Warner Bros who owns the rights would be delisting the show, WITHOUT telling the creators beforehand.
Tumblr media
I reframed a lot of my initial thoughts after reading the Mashable interviews with the creators. “'The Venture Bros.' creators on saying goodbye to their show: 'It sucks'” where they discuss “kill you darlings” editing, and why some characters like Brock had less screen time and others like Sirena didn’t appear at all:
“"We put on our list — these are the things we want to include," Hammer recalled of the process. "These are the things that aren't important. These are the things that are funny. These are the things we care about. And we wrote out [a] way too long script and did a few rewrites."
"We wrote our most detailed outline ever," Publick said. "And we started writing the script. And when we got to the halfway point of the outline, we were already at the, like, seven-eighths point of what our page count should be. So we went, 'Oh, we gotta cut five scenes we wrote already and pare down the second act — like, way down.'" …
But it wasn't all bad news. Hammer found some joy in the process of paring down, telling Mashable, "It was also a treat because when we get to that point where we've overwritten, we can read it and go, 'Well, now I understand you.' We're good at looking at something and going, 'I know why this is broken. And I can fix it.' Jackson and I are both real good at repairing things."
And “Doc Hammer reveals the 'Venture Bros.' scene he regrets losing” which discusses Sirena specifically:
“Hammer began to explain, "I don't want people walking away going —"
"She's [Sirena] a bitch," Publick said, finishing the thought.
"Yeah," Hammer continued. "She's not a bad person. And we understood what happened (between her and Dean). And we wanted to tell people like, 'This is just a part of growing up. These terrible things just happen.'”
"The Monarch is a jackass, and he says terrible things," Hammer continued. "And Doc is a horrible narcissist, raised by toxic masculinity. I recognize this pantheon because they're in my life as well. But, I love all of them — as flawed as they are. And [Publick and I, in making the series] constantly walk that line of going, 'This is terrible. But look at the love in here.'"
The Sirena cut scene was meant to walk that line as well. The duo declined to reveal what would have happened in the scrapped Sirena scene. (Maybe they go into it on the DVD's commentary track?) But Hammer did share what he hopes fans realize about Sirena.
"We wanted people to walk away understanding her and understanding what happened," Hammer said. "Obviously, she's not in love with Dean. And hers is a very complicated relationship with Hank because it's his first relationship. And that's the age where we mess up."
I think the series finale is excellent within the way it works in that very strict time limit; it balances some fun new plots and characters with wrapping up a bunch of plot threads and speculation. Sure I would have loved to see more of Mantilla/Debra’s “stalker with a crush” interest in Dr. Mrs. The Monarch as the resolution was very quick but it still was my favorite plotline in the movie. It’s been amazing watching the quality of the animation increase over the course of 20 years, and I’m grateful the show got a high movie budget send off. There were a number of scenes like the Ven-tech tower liftoff where the animators really got to flex and make the moment spectacular and it was great to see.
It felt nice to end the series getting answers to some of the long running show mysteries and fan speculation; how are The Monarch and Rusty Venture related, what’s the deal with Hank and Dean’s parentage. This show has never done the sudden twist because fans figure things out and it wanted to “subvert expectations”, it instead rewards careful watching, and it was fun spotting old callbacks or visual Easter eggs (Dermott has a Deathklok poster). There were also a lot of emotional moments that landed for me, such as the rescue of Ven-Tech tower, just seeing these characters work together and succeed after all these years watching them.
This finale does one of my favorite things for a series finale to do, show a world where the characters have grown and changed but the world live on in a positive way, akin to riding off into the sunset where a new adventure is always possible. Things like Ven-tech tower settling in the old Venture Compound, the Monarch finds out the truth of his biological relationship to Rusty Venture but just adds a layer in the in the way he’ll continue to arch.

I'm so happy to see people liking this baby princess snake 😭 there's barely anything for him I think only 2 drawing (and the artist deleted their account..) and 2 headcanons.. He's funny and silly fr. May I ask what made you like him?
Hi, nice to meet you! I'm always really happy to meet other Milverton fans! 🥰
Yeah, I feel you, he barely has any content (I tend to throw parties whenever I find Milvy arts online... then I realized I can also create some to have more, so now I'm here - and I have loooot of ideas). But believe me, there are more people liking Milverton out there than you think!
How did I end up liking him? Well, I am a Sherlock Holmes fan since I'm 6, I grew up with those stories and my favourite was always The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton - it's a really interesting story from the moral point of view and Milverton is a cool villain who is able to force Sherlock to fake-engagement and break-in.
I started to watch Moriarty the Patriot when S1 aired, just to see another Sherlock Holmes adaptation. Then I got into the manga because I couldn't wait for Part 2 - YuuMori was my very first manga. Ever since the start, I was waiting for Milverton to appear - and I actually suspected him to be more of an antihero, instead of a villain, since Moriarty the Patriot turns villain characters (Moriarty or Sebastian Moran) into antiheroes. Milverton finally appeared - to be the main antagonist. I didn't mind it, I was interested to see what the author does with him, and I was quite hyped after the White Knight arc (my favourite arc), because I'm also a big Batman fan and The Dark Knight (what White Knight is heavily inspired by) is one of my favourite movies. Then Two Criminals happened and Milverton left the stage without the potential in his character getting explored. I was totally disappointed to see him go to waste, so I started wandering about him - how he turned into a villain and such. I don't think he was always evil, he has white hair while being quite young, something really traumatic must've happened to him once, maybe he turned evil thanks to that. I also like thinking that what if he was similar to Liam once - wanted to change the system with corrupt methods, but he was not as strong as Liam and in the end, he got corrupted. I always wanted Moriarty the Patriot to deal with the thought of you use evil methods for a good cause, but what if your evil methods turns you evil, too? An example of what could happen to the Moriarty group if they cross the line, a dark mirror to William. And Milverton could've been a perfect example for this.
So yeah, the unexplored possibilities in Milverton kept intriguing me, so I thought more and more about him and come up with lot of headcanons, his whole story is built up in my head now. And through this, I grew fond of his character... I know he is evil and irredeemable, I never even thought of redemption for him, he is way too far gone... but I love him anyway (for the record, it's the YuuMori Milvy I feel that way for, not the other adaptations of the character, the canon one is a great villain to me and nothing more). I have lot of headcanons, theories, analysis, arts, dolls, a cocktail, fanfiction, video edit, I really love making content for him in every form.
And there is another thing what made me a Milverton fan: his relationship with his secretary, Ruskin. I really love the evil boss, who on the other hand, care about his secretary deeply, who doesn't mind his boss' evil actions, but follow him to the very end, because he means the whole world to him trope. And there is genuine trust, respect and caring in Milverton and Ruskin's relationship - I only a platonic shipper, but Milveskin is my OTP and love them really much.
Sorry for keeping you for so long, again I ended up writing an essay as an answer. Thank you for your question and I will bring more Milvy content in the future!

Let’s go with Let’s All Go to the Movies! for fic bingo.
*gasps* Aren’t you the same @tokuvivor aka ducksandspandex on AO3 who did the Spanish translation for the story!?
Well you got it! This is for you and the anonymous person who also requested this story, which is one I’m still very happy how it turned out (after I went back and added and edited a few things)!
Tumblr media
Honestly, kinda glad this was a June prompt giving me a deadline and all, really pushed me to not obsess over things and just quickly drop ideas that would have just dragged the thing out. Legit started while I was working on It Was a Dark and Stormy Night! and knew I’d only have enough time to do only two of the prompts
I wanna start things off by saying. I love this group. I wouldn’t add or subject anyone from this group. If you didn’t like this story I hope you at least like this group and plan on using them for a story or drawing or whatever of your own
First you got the three kids: Dewey, Gosalyn, and Webby. It was really easy picking these guys to be the ones who are excited to see your typical superhero blockbuster. They just have this youthful energy that I find very contagious and they’re honestly my most wanted trio to happen. I legit loved making Gosalyn the “cool kid” out of the three. Yeah she can be a handful for Fenton and is intentionally trying to be difficult for Gandra, but she does care about both Dewey and Webby
Also I just love both Webby and Fenton in this story for the fact they’re the only two not causing any drama. I loved writing the scene where they’re both at the crane machine working together to win prizes. They’re a pair I see a lot of similarities between one another so that inspired that dynamic
I think it’s safe to say that both Dewey and Gandra are the main characters of this story and it’s just another pair I’d love to see together because they’re so different yet so much alike that I think it’d make for great comedic moments. (I still love their interaction in the Split Sword of Swanstantine! where Dewey attempts to trash talk her only for Gandra to reply with a snarky “Thanks!” for helping her out)
Dewey I can just see be immediately drawn to Gandra out of all the members of Team Science cause A. She’s the least dorky member, B. She makes cool stuff, C. She has robots in her body, and D. He has history of pairing up with badass female characters (such as Webby, Della, & Gosalyn)
One thing I love writing about with Gandra is thinking about how difficult it will be for her to get know this family because our of all the characters, she’s the biggest outsider. She has no personal connection to any of the McDucks or Ducks, her connection is that she’s dating a guy who’s more than willing to put in the extra work for this family
And you know what? Fandom is way too harsh on Gandra and often expect her to just know certain things that she wasn’t there for. I don’t think she’s a hypocrite for working for Beaks (Fenton did too), it was a one time job to get what she wanted and plus, Beaks is an idiot. I just think it’s funny when people are like “Doesn’t she know that Beaks is way worse than Scrooge! Doesn’t Gandra know that?!” No. She doesn’t watch DuckTales like you, nerd. To her theyre both selfish billionaires but one is more idiotic and easier to take full advantage of while the other recruits his employees for adventures and probably still pays them minimum wage. We’re comparing Musk to Beezos here
For all their differences, I think the one thing this group has in common is that when danger calls they’ll be the first ones to respond no questions asked
I intentionally crammed a bunch of references into the story both to make the story fun and to poke fun at all the meta self-referencing media out there these days. I didn’t want to go overboard so I did my best to keep all that exclusively at the movie theater and to end it as soon as the group’s movie ended. Besides the superhero stuff, I love how all the references are either Disney or Disney adjacent (some 20th Century Fox stuff in there) Honestly every now and then I want to make a full list of all the references
I did try to be mostly subtle with all the nods and references. The only ones I wanted to be not subtle at all were the cameos. I was low-key inspired by the parody fake biopic movie Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story where all the historical cameos are just intentionally on the nose where the characters just flat-out say their full names in an unnatural way, “What do you think George Harrison of The Beatles?”
youtube
Also yeah, the cameos are also intentionally miscasted. But I did do my best in my story to make all the cameos be completely in character
Roxanne is a beloved character from the classic movie A Goofy Movie so having her work at the movies was a no brainer for me. Horace Horsecollar was the first one I knew I wanted to do because of his role in House of Mouse (and yes that woman speaking to him over the walkie-talkie was Minnie Mouse)
As for Dickie. Look, I’ll be honest. I don’t know if I did a good job with her or not. For the scene where Webby was the only one whose conscience was bothering her about sneaking candy into the movies, I was originally gonna just have your typical bored teen walk by and say no one cares, but that’s no fun! And honestly kinda mean-spirited. We needed someone nice and Dickie is a character I somewhat know from being in the fandom and I know is a character Goldie fans would want in DT17 cause she’s her granddaughter and all. So I looked up a few comic panels and went “Okay, I think I know how to write her!” and wrote her scene
Tumblr media
And this was the Bobbie who was playing with the nacho cheese btw
Originally I wanted to do more trailers, but I quickly decided to go with just the trailer for Disney’s live action remake of their box-office bomb, The Black Cauldron. For that I rewatched the original movie as well as every 1st trailer for every Disney live-action remake from Cinderella to The Little Mermaid. I’d say the trailer was mainly poking fun at the Peter & Wendy and Pinocchio trailers (I didn’t watch either) as well as The Black Cauldron. I neither love nor hate The Black Cauldron but looking joking about it and low-key proud of the casting choices
As for the movie itself it’s mainly a riff on the MCU but there’s some DC stuff in there. I’d say I was inspired by the Spider-Verse movies, the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Avengers: Infinity War, and The Flash (the only movie I didn’t watch out of these!)
All the characters (except the Nick Fury/Maria Hill stand-in) all come from either the comics, the OG DuckTales, and Darkwing Duck. I didn’t want to make them all one-to-one but turn them into how I think they show would change them slightly
Tumblr media
Awesome Comics is from a Darkwing Duck episode where the hero is pitching his comic book to the company. Comet Guy is a Superman send-up that had a couple of episodes in Darkwing Duck and the main villain of the movie, Ordinary Guy, comes from Comet Guy’s second appearance where we go to his home planet Mertz where everyone but Ordinary Guy is a superhero. The brain teasers also came from Darkwing Duck and have a couple episodes themselves. I picked them because they’re hats and Comet Guy uses his spaceship as a hat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Masked Mallard and the Scarlet Brigand both come from the OG DuckTales. The Masked Mallard is actually Scrooge McDuck and was inspired by swashbuckling Zorro type hero the boys were watching in the same episode. I basically made the Masked Mallard a combination of both Tony Stark and Steve Rogers since he can’t be Scrooge. And I decided to make the Scarlet Brigand female and she was inspired by Scarlet Witch and Black Widow (a lot of Scarlet here!) with more of a rogue sword fighter vibe and more scarlet in her costume. The Titanic Trio was actually just Huey Dewey and Louie at the end of the episode with their own Masked Mallard costumes so I stole the team name from them since this group was a trio
Also MEL was the villain in Gizmoduck’s tv movie five part episode tho bf
Super Snooper is the first superhero sendup from the comics so he had to be here. Him basically being a major role in someone else’s movie was poking fun at Michael Keaton being heavily advertised for The Flash movie. After all Super Snooper is a sendup of both Superman and Batman but mostly Superman. His death was inspired by the infamous reverse time scene from the OG Superman movie which I do love
I just think it’s funny this character came back from the dead only to be killed again
And I love the post credit scene for this. I had to do it. (There’s no post credit scene for the movie because I couldn’t think of anything.) But yeah, I love it because it’s just this family chilling and hanging out with one another
And the whole story ends with Della encouraging Gandra to go bang her boyfriend with a Spider-Man 2 reference. 10/10 storytelling

I finally got around to watching Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis (2022)... i procrastinated for so long just because I’m not a biopic person but I watched enough video essays on YouTube and decided to give it a chance.
I think it’s hit or miss.
The editing of course is phenomenal and so is the cinematography. But the fast-paced editing gets tiring after 30 minutes and it’s basically an almost 3 hour music video montage. I can understand if they did this style for the film’s opening or had some musical breaks in the middle of the story structure to keep things moving, but no basically the entire movie is like this one big montage. It should have been used sparingly but Luhrmann does nothing in moderation.
I’ve never been a big fan of his movies tbh... his style is unique, I’ll say that much but I honestly hated Moulin Rogue! and his take on Romeo + Juliet simply because I couldn’t get invested in his characters. Like most of Luhrmann’s films, it is pretty much style over substance. I watched one video essay which stated that at the end of the movie we still don’t really know who Elvis was and I kind of agree. Because the editing is so choppy and moves us quickly through Elvis’s life almost like a roller coaster at a carnival we never get a sense of who the characters are. We never stay with them long enough to develop an emotional connection to anything happening on screen. There’s a total disconnect because it’s just pretty to look at. Great visuals but no real meaning behind them. There’s really no linear storyline. We witness Elvis’s life through fragmented pieces.
For example, there’s a scene where his mother collapses on the stairs and dies and we get a quick 5 second dissolve to her lying in an open casket which fades to another 5 second dissolve to Elvis mourning his mother before we jump quickly to the next scene. This scene moves so fast that we can’t even digest what we’re seeing or be able to understand how the loss of his mother devastated him because it’s just a montage and not an actual scene. So I can’t say the screenplay has really great writing. The film seemed to be more focused on making a beautiful looking work of cinema and it is. It’s beautiful on the surface but movies don’t mean anything if you can’t feel an emotional attachment.
As for the positives:
I do like the idea of telling the story through Col. Tom Parker’s perspective. That was pretty creative. You almost get a Jesus Christ Superstar treatment, seeing Elvis as some mythical figure. They expertly hide his identity at the beginning of the film because it is being told through Col. Tom Parker’s POV. In this way we get an unreliable narrator. Elvis’s introduction is well done.
I love that Austin Butler does his own singing. He really does embody elvis and the casting here was on point. The soundtrack is great.
I do like the film having a more fantasy/ musical approach as opposed to being a straight up biopic. But I feel like if we took the editing of this movie and applied it to something with more of a coherent narrative it would have been a really good film.
I give it a C+ for effort. They recreated some historical moments really well. The costume/ hair/ make up department outdid themselves, not just on Elvis’s wardrobe but the extras looked great, too. Also nice to see some well-played cameos of B.B. King, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Little Richard.
Stunning visuals overall but really lackluster screenplay that needed more work to make me care about the story and characters.
It was like watching a 2 hour and 40 minute music video with very minimal story.
I give it a 7.5/ 10 stars.

I dont care about timothee tom comparisons thats whatever, but defending cherry is wild b/c take away the acting for a sec but from technical / filmmakers perspective, cherry was poorly edited with blatant mistakes, a movie that is visually bland with poor choices in terms of cinematography and choices that make no sense to the plot that ultimately is like take a step back and think of film as more than just actors on screen. Script that is littered with sterotypes. A movie that was supposed to cover a topic like the opiod crisis but never once does anything with it nor has any meaningful conversation about it. The first part talks about the linkage between us imperialism and ptsd only for the russos to completely drop the critique of the us military mid way through the film there is literallly a lack of cohesion of what it wants to say b/c the script is muddled and unfocused. No movie is perfect but if you are not even open to actual critiques of the film is wild, is film that has potential but its poorly constructed with numerous plot holes and under developed themes. Its style over substance in this case style lacked any thematic purpose rather its used to tell the audience " hey look we can make an independent film" and visual style is never justifeid. Acting is subjective but I tend to argue that cherry blurs more into the realm of overacting, a more talented director would tell tom to control and to hold some things rather than go all the way to 100
the last 30 minutes border more on parody rather than being an honest representation of someone who is a addicted to drugs struggling with ptsd and geographical/ socio economic displacement. The best scene was him in the hospital after that it blurs into over the top hyper realism and fouth wall breaking which tom struggles constantly throughout.
Like Im sorry why are unafraid to engage in critique, tom is a great actor but cherry was all over the place in terms of acting. Like whenever someone critques him you and your anons are quick to dismiss it and say can people think for themselves well here you go I thought for myself its so dismissive and condesending when you think people do have opinions.
Timmy tom comaparisons are dumb, they go after different roles, timmy has admittedly has had more critical success but as that anon said he knows what works for him.
Tom is a great actor and shines in alot of his movies but his films outside of his performance do have flaws and alot of them are technical such as poor visuals ( uncharted) and mistakes in the editing room ( infinity war, end game) under developed script ( TDATT).
This isnt reserved just for toms films but timmys films as well. You also undercut timmy, you said I want the person with range as in tom but literally timmy, austin, zendaya, florence , anya , keke palmer, kelvin harrison, daniel kuluyaa, dev patel like the list goes on of people with range, I dont understand what you mean when you say range like do you just watch tom holland films or something 😭😭😭 i dont know how you can convincingly say one actor as more range than another based on what. Lee, Elio wonka, paul, king henry, yule is a diverse subset of characters, in the same way that arvin, cherry, peter parker, billy elliott are diverse characters.
Tumblr media
Wow...This was a LOT Anon. I see you've already written a dissertation, so I'm not going to add on to this by writing a dissertation of my own. I'll just pick from a few things here and there.
but defending cherry is wild b/c take away the acting for a sec but from technical / filmmakers perspective, cherry was poorly edited with blatant mistakes
What mistakes? Can you list examples?
a movie that is visually bland with poor choices in terms of cinematography
What do you mean by this?? And did it ever occur to you that maybe this might have been done on purpose? 🤔 The movie is about drug addiction after all. I also disagree that the entire movie was "visually bland". Some scenes, maybe?? But I think there were quite a few visually appealing and well-shot scenes in "Cherry". You might disagree, but I felt that these shots in particular were quite nice with the lighting (imo). The Cherry and Emily scenes in particular.
youtube
and choices that make no sense to the plot that ultimately is like take a step back and think of film as more than just actors on screen.
Again...if you provide some examples, maybe I can agree with you.
Look, I'm not saying "Cherry" was the best film ever made, but to say it was "horrendously awful" is a bit of a stretch to me.
Tom is a great actor and shines in alot of his movies but his films outside of his performance do have flaws and alot of them are technical such as poor visuals ( uncharted) and mistakes in the editing room ( infinity war, end game) under developed script ( TDATT).
And these might just be personal opinions? 🤷🏾‍♀️ But either way, what an actor has done in the past doesn't always equal what they will do in the future imo.
Maybe one day, a film that Tom does will live up to your expectations, but I just feel like you're being unnecessarily hard for no good reason.
You also undercut timmy, you said I want the person with range as in tom but literally timmy, austin, zendaya, florence , anya , keke palmer, kelvin harrison, daniel kuluyaa, dev patel like the list goes on of people with range,
Ummm....When have I EVER "undercut" Timmy (or any of these other actors you've mentioned above)??? 🥴 I've said plenty of times that Timmy (as well as the others you've mentioned) are great actors!
I dont understand what you mean when you say range like do you just watch tom holland films or something 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
Okay, now I KNOW you're just trolling. 😒🙄 How many times have I talked about other movies and other actors here on my blog?? Like, literally ALL the time. I don't just watch "Tom Holland movies". 😒 If anything, I've been one who's always told fans to expand their film and actor horizons and appreciate a wide variety!
I've seen 98% of Tom's filmography though, so that's why I do feel like I have an honest view of his filmography overall.
i dont know how you can convincingly say one actor as more range than another based on what. Lee, Elio wonka, paul, king henry, yule is a diverse subset of characters, in the same way that arvin, cherry, peter parker, billy elliott are diverse characters.
Okay look, I know you're a huge Timmy fan and all, and that's okay! But I think you're misunderstanding what I meant. I didn't say "range", I said DIVERSITY of filmography. There's a difference! I never said Timmy doesn't have acting range. I just said that Tom has a more diverse filmography....and he DOES! That's just a fact.

watched Goncharov (1973) dir. Matteo JWHJ 0715 (NOT by martin scorsese) a couple days ago and have been stewing in my thoughts while tumblr rages on, but honestly my brain’s been obsessing over this film and i need to get it out of my system.
first, the big gay elephant in the room: andrey and goncharov. i know, it’s been said, i’ll make it quick. their dynamic was great—the slowly blossoming friendship as the work together more and more to the pure tragedy of the office scene, when goncharov is forced to choose the family over andrey. it’s heartbreaking. and you just KNOW he ain’t the same after that. the way he looks at katya outside, you just know.
and, also, katya. another heartbreaker. i love katya, she’s one of the best characters in the movie, just on personality alone. she’s a survivor, she’ll do anything to stay alive. unfortunately, that includes her untimely betrayal. on a second watch, the signs are all there—SHE appears just after joe’s caught in the car explosion. SHE bought the wristwatch for her brother valery. and she’s framed in the bookcase scene with the clock behind her head like a halo. it’s so interesting looking back and seeing all the hints, connecting all the dots.
i honestly think she could have done with a but more development, she only had one scene in the first twenty minutes, but i guess that’s what fandom is for. she’s developed past the screen through art and writing, i even found a poem once? i lost the link though. i’ll add it to the end of this post if i find it again.
i could go on and on about goncharov himself, but that’s been done a million times. all i will say is, the tragety surrounding his character, and the way he pushes through, even when faced by impossible challenges—there’s a reason he’s a fan favorite.
edit: found the poem!

Rambling Thoughts. Spoilers.
Wow it looks like a real movie.
There is proper lighting and cinematography. Wow.
I hate how he's walking through this field.
Amira Vann is a performer.
Should've killed her grandaddy.
Too much narration.
These letters a little too detailed. Show don't tell.
I'm gon be honest, Tyler is the last person on earth who should tackling race.
I know Buster don't think Willie Earl is his child. Sir your colorism and self hatred can't be that severe that you think Bayou is half white. Sir! Open your eyes. He called him HALF BREED! Bruh. Delusional men are pure comedy.
I like that he calls her Lil Anne
Bayou is not it. I just don't think he's worth all the drama. He is boring. He doesn't even write songs. For a movie called A Jazzmans Blues Bayou has no interest in music. He doesn't write songs/music or play an instrument. Paper Airplanes isn't even written by him. He doesn't even really take singing seriously its just something he does.
Ooh he on that stuff.
Bucket better watch who she put her hands on. We know your truth and the only ones who gone help you.
Bayou has no stage presence. I'm not braving the Chicago winters to see a ni**a standing still. Willie Earl on the other hand, stage presence but I hate him so I never want to see him win.
"We don't allow coloreds to sit at our table". Sir that is the kitchen table! That is for the servants to sit and prep it is not the dining room table.
Soon as her momma said that lie Leanne should've blew up their spot. "Okay mama. Okay. Well guess what, we are negroes."
They stopped the car cut it off slammed doors, threw up, swap stories get back in cut the car back on and not once does Willie Earl wake up. Don't do drugs kids.
They never call it heroin. Why? It can't possibly change the rating to call it by name over showing the needle in his arm.
Ira do know he talking to a black man in the Jim Crow Era South?
Ira telling Bayou his survival story to tell him to survive so you can help others.
Me: Ira save that story for someone else. Bayou ain't got that dog in him.
Citsy is great. She needs more story.
This needs a good editing. It needed another script edit. Its much too long and the timeline gets a little jumbled. After Leanne comes back. I have no idea how much time has passed we needed more time with them at 16 & 17. This is where their performances shine. Also we needed them sneaking around more after she returns to see that it wasn't just puppy love taken too seriously.
This heffa bes better hope that baby don't come out chocolate.
Everything happens to Bayou. He is never in charge of his own story. He is very hard to root for. And the one time he makes his own choice it's the dumbest decision ever.
The Debbie Allen did the choreography for this movie and we never get to see it shine.
What is the audience of the Royale? Why are these white folks coming to see what seems like an all or majority Black Revue?
Only nine months have passed since he left?
Did she come to Hattie Mae for comfort and familiarity or because she was scared that baby was gon come out dark.
You can't take your aunty some money to make sure she is able to live and feed herself? Ni**a kill yourself.
How you the headliner but your brother, high out of his mind has more stage presence than you?
Bayou joins the military but it has no effect on his character. It doesn't make him braver or stronger or more sensitive. He just joins and immediately gets out.
Ira wasn't on heroin? Then what the hell was wrong with him? Heat stroke?
I think he's getting darker. She says about a baby the color of alabaster.
Baby the color of fresh fallen snow in Alaska, freshly painted apartment walls, unseasoned mashed potatoes, the color of the crowd at a Train concert
His momma: is he getting darker?
Ira saw him perform and thought he was the star compared to Willie Earl? Absolutely not. Now if it was that he had that sweet, innocent charm that would stretch across to white markets I could believe it but it wasn't so it's unbelievable.
Look I'm all for resilience in the face of adversity but as Tyler Perry himself once said. If you can't get peace where you are, MOVE. Hattie pack your shit and go.
How you mad cause you let heroin get in the way of you auditioning?
Being a woman is dangerous business. This man would rather kill her than just admit she couldn't stand The South. Imagine if he found out she was Black? He'd of killed her and the baby. Imagine if that baby came out brown. They'd have burned the city down.
Her mom's crazy for bringing them back to the South. That's the one place where black folks are in abundance. Passing is easiest when you isolate. That's what's missing from this story. The husband and sheriff are never suspicious.
This movie is too long to cut that out. We should've seen more of her life with her husband and bonding with Citsy.
So she's a quarter or a half? What is her mama?
Bayou is a fool. Not a fool, a damn fool. Why the hell would you go back to Georgia?
Willie Earl ain't shit.
Yeah, Bayou is not worth all this. Neither is Leanne.
There should've been more cuts to the eighties.
See you gotta be careful who you have ya kids around. How you 50-75% percent Negro and racist.
Tyler really put effort into this movie. The sets fell and look real.
Someone said Leanne aged like a yt woman and said that was her punishment? Y'all!!! I laughed.
Did Hattie give him the letters because he's her grand baby and she's tired of his racist bullshit or because she was serious about the investigation?
I did not need the nurse pointing out who he was.
The credit version of Paper Airplanes is really beautiful.

I’m not really new to Star Wars, but I’m more of like a casual fan who doesn’t really have an opinion about the characters and the plot, so I read any kind of meta that come across on my dashboard from my followings’ reblogs. I do notice this quite extreme different characterization though when it comes to Obi-Wan, where one side characterize him as very self-assured, give affection/touch freely, and extroverted; while another as the opposite of it. (1/2)
Having read your tagged excerpts and similar posts that provide thorough reference of the latter characterization from the novels, I can’t help but wondering if the former one comes solely from the prequel movies? Or if you have read other novels that seem to contradict the latter one, yet support the former one? (2/2) (Sorry for the complicated wordings and thank you for answering)
Don't apologize! It's a complicated question!
There are absolutely two Obi-Wans in fandom. It's very interesting! For reference, I have watched just the movies for most of my life, and only in the past three months or so watched most of TCW and read about a dozen official books. The reason I feel this is relevant is that I started reading these books and watching this content with the intent to figure out what the hell people are talking about when they write Obi-Wan as confident and dominant. I sought to prove myself wrong. Of course, no human can claim to have a truly objective mind, but I tried! I have paid close attention to how Obi-Wan is described by all the many different authors of official Star Wars books. And I just haven't seen a smidge of self-assurance! The closest I've seen is that he can easily put strangers at ease and can modulate his tone to convince strangers that his instructions are worth trusting--that is, he can appear "authoritative" to strangers (which is not authoritarian), and Anakin is aware of this ability (and lacks it, because his social skills are very different.)
So basically, no, I don't see much in the novels that contradict my view of him. I don't have to work hard to keep my characterization of him consistent (not even his OCD).
But The Clone Wars is a different story! To address the core of your question: I suspect that the difference in characterization is not between pre-prequel fans and prequel movie fans, but between people who obsessed over the movies first and people who obsessed over TCW first. (I have not run any research studies, so feel free to provide data!) I do NOT see anything in TCW that contradicts my characterization of him, but I CAN imagine watching TCW (especially as a young person) and reading him as the self-assured character type and then viewing everything else through that lens. Not much of TCW is from Obi-Wan's "POV"; it's a cartoon, and its younger characters are its emotional center, so Obi-Wan is mostly just his public-facing mask and seen through Anakin and Ahsoka's eyes. When I watch TCW, I'm imagining what's going on in Obi-Wan's head, but I'm rarely being shown or told. You can make what you will of him (and Anakin, too, but that's another story.) I have to work equally hard to see my preferred characterization of him as I do to see the daddy-dom characterization of him. But I have tons of book quotes and movie moments to fill in the blanks with, so I'm content. That animation style can only carry so much!
I really would be curious to hear other perspectives on this btw! I'm open-minded. And I hold no judgment for people who have any kind of different characterization of him!!! I think it's great that people can do whatever they want in fandom and I hate elitism in fan spaces.
I hope that answers your question! Also, just for the record because I hate leaving things unsaid: I actually think Obi-Wan is more extroverted than Anakin is!
EDIT:
Was just talking with my wife about how many people who prefer a more dominant Obi-Wan characterization came to that preference out of discomfort with people overdoing it on the submissive Obi-Wan characterization. Like, it’s absolutely possible to make him so submissive and pathetic that he would seem out of character!!! And I can absolutely imagine coming across that and thinking, “I don’t like this. Obi-Wan is actually a passably functional human being.” and swinging full-force in the other direction. So I guess that’s another potential sociological backstory for why the rift exists lol.

9 favorite shows as gifs
Thank you for tagging me @willkimurashat @eva-neill-green @fujihime-litg @mrs-youcef
This is once again in no specific order because they’re all very different shows and all top tier imo.
1. Parks and Recreation
Tumblr media
My favorite sitcom I have rewatched it soo many times and was so sad when it got moved to streaming on Peacock but then my cousin got Peacock and now I leech onto their account to watch it.
2. Schitts Creek
Tumblr media
Elite sitcom! So funny, so heartfelt, Dan Levy you are my fav nepo baby and I accuse nepotism for this show. And Miora Rose iconic.
3. Space Force
Tumblr media
Another tragic betrayal from Netflix by canceling this show. I love Ben Schwartz and space.
4. The Get Down
Tumblr media
This was the first betrayal I ever experience from Netflix and you may be saying hey I’ve never heard of The Get Down before we’ll it’s because it featured a fully poc cast and told a beautiful story of the start of hip hop and fall of disco from the perspective of young teens from the Bronx in the 70s and Netflix didn’t promote it at all. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann ya know the guy that did Romeo and Juliet with Leo DiCaprio. This show was beautiful and amazing and I cried when I found out they canceled it. Still the story ends pretty well with only a slight cliffhanger that Baz later clarified what would actually happen so if your looking for a show to watch I very highly recommend this one . It’s incredible, the soundtrack is amazing, there are lgbt characters, I mean I can’t ever say enough.
5. Once Upon a Time
Tumblr media
The chokehold this show had me on since I was 11. Unparalleled. I love everyone in this show like family, each character means so much to me it’s insane. Last season was eh they were trying too hard to keep it alive but that’s shows now a days. Gif of the queen herself.
6. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin
Tumblr media
Speaking of shows that had me in a chokehold the orginal pretty little liars was one of them. I was obsessed and they lost me the last few season after trying to hard to keep the show alive. A good show has an ending you don’t have to keep adding more to it. That being said I did not think this reboot/spin-off would be good but oh boy is it. I mean there is a slasher killer, it’s beautifully shot, and the cast is great.
7. Derry Girls
Tumblr media
I absolutely love this show! I love everything about it. I pretend I have an Irish accent every time I watch it (sorry to any Irish followers but I think it’s a pretty decent attempt). This show is hilarious and I can’t wait to watch the final season.
8. Shadow and Bone
Tumblr media
This show led to a downward spiral into the Grishaverse series and I am perfectly okay with it. I am still read every book in the series I’m on the final six of crow book rn. This show is soooo good I cried first episode for some reason. The cast is so hot. The characters and storylines are everything.
9. New Girl
Tumblr media
Last but not least, this show is iconic. The friendships, the jokes, everything. Love it.
Omg I’m editing and adding a tenth because I can’t believe I forgot it
10. DEADLY CLASS
Tumblr media
This!!! this show is one of the greatest shows to ever exist and I’m sooooo mad it got canceled. It’s based on a comic it’s one season I highly recommend despite the cliff hanger (because technically no cliff hanger if you jsut look up what happens in the comics). I love this show so much I did write a fan fic about it on Wattpad it’s called Medusa if you want to check it out. Literally Marcus (pictured above) the most incredible and stupid character ever I love him; the sass he has amazing. You will love all the characters as much as you hate them sometimes it’s great. Lana Condor is in it and so is Benedict Wong. If you like marvel movies the Russo brothers are producers.
Tagging whoever wants to join!

Avatar
“Avatar” was a fun time, even on a smaller screen, and seems unfairly criticized in some aspects and justifiably criticized in other aspects.
Jake Sully is a former Marine who has lost the ability to use his legs. In the year 2154, the technology to restore his limbs is available, but not with the money made by a veteran. After the death of his twin brother, Jake is offered to take his place on the Avatar project. The project would allow Jake to transfer his consciousness into the lab-grown body of a Na’vi. The reason Jake was chosen is because he shares the same genome as his brother and the Avatar would only work with him. Now, Jake must learn about the Na’vi culture to help the military mine the lucrative Unobtanium from their Hometree.
Just a quick thing before getting in the review; I watched the Extended Edition for this review. I’ve never seen the movie prior to that, so the Extended Edition, and the post-watch research I did, are all that I have to go by. With that out of the way, here’s my review. I had a great time with this film. The visuals were spectacular and I only wish I would’ve gone out to see the re-release in theaters that happened a couple of months ago. This is definitely a theater-experience movie. The reason I didn’t watch it back in 2009 was because I was 11 years old and I was rewatching “Coraline” in 3D in theaters for the third time. There were some criticisms of the story ripping off from other stories like “Pocahontas” and “Fern Gully’. The last time I watched “Pocahontas” was in early elementary school and I never watched “Fern Gully”, so the comparisons didn’t stick out to me immediately. Still, I don’t think it’s a fair criticism because most movies borrow from others and add minor tweaks. There is no such thing as complete originality. It’s crazy to think Quentin Tarantino movies get praised for being remixes of his influence, but this movie gets criticized for it. I do think the ‘white savior’ criticisms are valid. I’m not in a position to weigh in on the discussion, but I do acknowledge that it’s a problem in Hollywood. Still, the movie’s main draw isn’t the story, it’s the visuals. It does a damn good job of transporting you into a whole new world. Granted, I did have minor nitpicks about it. For starters, every creature felt like an ‘alienified’ version of an animal we have here on Earth. Second, it felt like the animals were made to be spectacles, rather than functional. It sort of takes me out of the movie when I’m thinking about how all these animals evolved to have some sort of biological neural link. There’s also this flying amphibian thing that rotates like a helicopter and I couldn’t help but think how disadvantageous it would’ve been for this creature to evolve with that trait. Another tiny nitpick I had was when Jake Sully has to fend for himself overnight and he makes a torch by dipping a stick in some sort of liquid. I don’t know how he knew that the goop was flammable, but I guess it doesn’t matter all too much. I thought a lot of the characters were one-dimensional, especially the villains. Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully was serviceable, but his bad acting really stood out next to Zoe Saldana’s brilliant performance as Neytiri. Usually, I’m critical of movies that go on for too long, but I didn’t feel the long runtime with this movie. The pacing felt great and everything scene seemed important to the overall story. I think the great script is to thank here and it’s impressive that James Cameron is the only writing credit. All in all, I can see why this movie was the number one highest-grossing film for the longest time. It’s not the most perfect movie, but it smartly marketed itself as the ultimate theater-going experience. It has amazing visuals, high-stakes set pieces, and genuinely makes you feel like you’ve been transported to another world. It’s crowd-pleasing and it's super fun if you don’t think too hard about it, which is easy to do with the visuals stealing so much of your focus. I will not make the same mistake of not watching the sequel in the theaters. I’ve already got my tickets to watch it in Dolby Cinema 3D and I cannot wait.

*sigh of relief* my test was alright T.T Its news to everyone that I'm taking a break — and its also giving off the impression that i am a workaholic which isn't wrong... So i watched psycho and vertigo by alfred hitchcock... yes. i am THAT old (the shower scene in psycho is so iconic not to mention everyone was on a bates motel high) And yes. Yandere Nagi — based on another movie I watched (this one is pretty old too) but. the more i think about it... the more hotter the story is getting in my head. This might be a mini series tho — cause the storyline is damn complicated and i wanna take my time with it, write it well and then post it on my ao3. Ooohh I know that feeling !! Half the time I'm looking like a maniac typing away at 3 in the morning cause that's when my inspo kicks in and then i land up with less sleep. smh— You have me on the edge of my seat *wipes of sweat* but please take your time and don't rush !! And honestly? same with me too. I write things, don't feel like beta reading it. *reads it later* How do people even like this? o.o AND. I. ADORE. YOUR BLOG THEME!! Ahh !! Sunflowers!! And i lowkey think that everyone is starting to like kazutora but at the same time with the kind of character development he has? 100% deserves the thirst and I think i just got struck with an idea for him... *notes down*
Look at me creating work for myself — *sending hugs back*

What Did I Watch: #29
Once in a blue moon, GMMTV will be smart enough to drop their most unsuspecting series and it just blow you away. Such as Bad Buddy. Who would have thought back then? But let's not talk about that because dammit Ohm, you have one job to do. Not being a problematic ass bitch.
I'm just going to pray hard that any of the casts of My School President isn't a homophobic. Because this show is everything. It was one of the best that ever came out from GMMTV. It was a joy and happiness, mixed into one. It did remind me a lot of how falling in love supposed to be like. It warmed my heart and proceed with a lot of care. If they land this on high note, this could dethroned Skam S3 as my favorite queer show of all time.
People talked about how its story really rights the wrong of GMMTV ever did in the past. But I want to talk about the sound. I adore its sound department. How they used the surrounding sound to enhance the vibe. Or how smooth it is to just incorporate those sound effects and maximize its impact on certain scenes. Or how brilliantly sometimes the sound cuts on pivotal moment and somehow it made the scene so much powerful than just let the sound effect ran through without much precaution. It's just wonderful to finally found a BL that knows how to tell a story through sound.
(and tbh, rarely i saw post talk about the significance of a great sound department on a series. the whole sound department, whether it's sound editing, sound mixing, or sound design have the same importance as cinematography and set design yall.)
Example on why My School President not only has a great story but also the technicality of it all is just wonderful. Especially on this scene, in addition to gorgeously adding rain sound and bgm without clashing into one another at the back of the scene, but also the choice of using handheld instead of the classic steadicam, and the lovely acting by Gemini and Fourth, made this particular scene a textbook for upcoming BL's that wanting to do great despite its simplicity.
In any other words, this is fucking good.

Besides MSP that continue to be fantastic, I binge-watched The Glory, which I could summarize with 'BAD BITCH RULE THE WORLD'.
Finally Song Hye-kyo knows how to act other than being sad and pitiful. I love her to death in this kind of role. She swallowed, chewed, then spit on you. On top of that, The Glory is kind of proof for Kim Eun-sook, yes she can write something that wasn't so convoluting and straight-up fun without having too much predicament. I just want her to continue being the bad bitch that she already was. She could wrote Mr. Sunshine, definitely she'll be able to land this smoothly.
Fingers crossed though, this show could give all of us who waiting its second part a happy ending. Because Dong-eun deserves it.

I think I'm going to stop watch Between Us. The funny thing is, it wasn't because I was getting more annoyed by their sound department, but it was rather a petty reason. I watched episode 9 on a flight until suddenly the plane went into turbulence. Definitely a sign.
But good for you to continue whatever is left. I didn't build for character-driven story, so for me this was way too slow for my liking. Personally I felt like nothing happened, Team still not going to seek any help from professionals, Win still acted like he was a caretaker rather than a boyfriend and the fact that any side dishes represented in here was boring to the max, I had enough.
