My part for the hetabang project! It’s still technically the 28th when I submitted this so I’m still in the clear
For my part of the project I did a short GerIta one shot that takes place in the high school AU
(Please excuse any Italian I might’ve used, I do not speak the language)
Music thumped loudly throughout the house, drowning out all other noises save for the loud cheers and boos of the other party goers. It was a typical high school party. Kids were drinking, some were dancing like they were going to die the next day, some were unconscious, and some were being wall flowers, hanging near the side, most likely dragged there by siblings or sheer boredom. The last was the case for Feliciano, except it wasn’t his sibling. It was Antonio, a friend of his fratello. He’d insisted they both come, and Feli caved pretty quickly, whereas Lovi took a little more persuasion and a bucket of tomatoes. The Spainard had wandered off to where his friend group resided the moment they arrived, telling the brothers to enjoy themselves. Lovi hid in one of the guest rooms with a few others that didn’t want to come, including Matthew, a quiet Canadian boy that had been dragged over by his brother. Feli had sat with them for a while before he grew hungry. Lovi wouldn’t share his tomatoes, so the poor Italian had to venture out into the sea of drunks and dancers. The moment he cracked the door open, the scent of alcohol and sweat hit him, and kids pushed against the door unknowingly. He frowned and squeezed his way out, shutting the door behind him.
Pushing his way through the crowd was more difficult than he once thought. They bounced and jumped and backed up, and he ended up getting tossed around quite a bit.
“Scuza!” he cried frantically everytime he tried to get by someone, only to be accidently shoved aside. After what felt like at least twenty minutes, he made it to the kitchen, where the snacks were stored. He stepped through the threshold, sighing in relief. There was a noticeable temperature change in the air around him, most likely from the lack of bodies and the heat they produced. It felt stale, almost. He shuddered mildly and walked to the numerous bowls. Chips and pretzels and other usual party snacks filled them. Feli glanced at the rest of the food and huffed. Not a single bit of pasta in sight. He didn’t know what he expected, it was a party, not a family gathering. Still, it was upsetting. He grabbed a potato chip and sighed, taking a boring bite out of it. What even is a boring bite? He pondered it while snacking on the salty food. Through the sound of the crunching of the potato chip, he heard someone step into the kitchen, the soles of their shoes softly tapping against the linoleum. Feli didn’t look at them as he leaned against the island, head resting in the palm of his hand while he munched. Whoever it was opened the fridge and grabbed something. The door to the fridge closed and something that sounded similar to a can opened. The person leaned on the counter beside the bored male. Feli glanced up at them. It was a tall blonde that he vaguely recognized as Ludwig from one of his classes.
“Ciao,” he greeted softly. Ludwig turned his head with a confused hum.
“Hallo,” he took a sip from the can. Feli sighed and grabbed another chip. “What’s wrong?”
“Hm?” He looked up at Ludwig. “Oh, there’s no pasta. I’m a little bummed about it,”
“I have some chocolate, if you want it,” He offered. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a German chocolate bar. Feli smiled and took it.
“Grazie,” he unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite. The candy melted in his mouth and he sighed.
“Is it good?”
“Italian chocolate is better,” he commented. “But this is good too,” He took another bite. Ludwig chuckled lightly. They sat in silence for a while, Feli quietly eating the chocolate and Ludwig drinking what Feli had discovered was beer.
“Did someone drag you here too?” Feli broke the silence.
“Nein, my bruder set this whole thing up,”
“So this is your house?” Ludwig nodded.
“Who made you come here?”
“Antonio,” The blonde nodded in understanding. The silence returned, this time awkward and uncomfortable. Minutes pass before angry shouting is heard through the loud music. Soon, a familiar Italian weaves his way into the kitchen, curl frazzled and bent.
“Idiota! What are you doing with the potato bastard?!”
“He gave me chocolate,” He held up the almost gone bar of chocolate.
“And?”
“It’s good chocolate,” Lovi grumbled, rolling his eyes.
“I doubt it,” Feli huffed and broke off a piece, handing it to Lovi. Lovi took it and eyed it, as if it were poisoned.
“Just try it,” Lovi popped the tiny piece of chocolate into his mouth. He ate it slowly before swallowing. “So, how was it?”
“...It was good,”
“So I can stay here with Ludwig?”
“...Fine,” Feli grinned.
“Grazie!” He leapt at his brother, glomping him in a hug.
“Yeah Yeah, get off!” Lovi whined, pushing his younger brother away. Feli backed off and smiled slightly at his brother as Lovi walked away. Feli then leaned back on the counter, popping the last small piece of chocolate into his mouth with a happy sigh. Feli glanced at Ludwig, sensing that the silence was getting a bit uncomfortable. In short, he needed to talk, the silence was killing him. So he struck up a conversation in the hopes that it would break the fragile quiet between the tall German and himself.
“They all seem to be enjoying themselves,” he motioned to the crowd of dancing. Ludwig nodded.
“Ja, good thing it’s almost over so I can actually sleep,”
“The party is almost over?!” Feli’s eyes widened. Ludwig nodded.
“I gave Gilbert a time limit. He may be older, but he’s not very responsible,” Feli nodded. He did know that Gilbert tended to not understand when a party should end. Ludwig glanced at his watch before placing his drink down.
“I’ll be back,” He disappeared into the crowd. Minutes pass before Gilbert’s loud voice called to the crowd as the music went dead.
“I’m sorry everyone! Mein bruder is a party pooper and he has told me it is time for everyone to go!” Ludwig reappeared shortly after the announcement. He smiled lightly.
“I think you have to go now,” Feli nodded.
“I think you’re right,” He stood up fully. “My fratello is going to be looking for me,”
“I’ll see you later, at school?”
“Si! Definitely!” Feliciano grinned at Ludwig, waving goodbye to the German before running to find his fratello.

Promise Me You'll Stay, an entry for the @hetabang get together.
I looked outside. The woods were barren, snow and fog swirled around in the wind and sun was nowhere to be seen. This winter was more troublesome than it was worth. I walked away from the window with a sigh, the long skirts of my dress rustling on the wood floor. I knew he was standing behind me. He always was. Ever since our nations had first parted ways all those moons ago, he was always watching me. For almost 400 hundred years he was the enemy, forced against his will to fight the very person he grew up with. The same person who he was forced to beat for trying to escape. I tightened my grip on my arms, wincing at the thought. The wounds may have healed, but the pain was always fresh. He had been my closest friend during Kalmar, but he had turned his back on me in my time of need, after all, he left me to bleed out in the snow after blinding me. And now he was here in my house. I stopped walking and turned around. There he was, smiling.
“What do you want, Odin?” I asked, arms still crossed.
He looked sheepish. “I just need to talk to you.”
I sighed. “Very well. Shall we take this to the parlor then?”
He looked flustered. “N-no! We don’t have to get that formal…”
Now I was intrigued. “Now we do. I’ll call for some tea.” I grabbed his arm and smiled. I would get to the bottom of this, after all I am the eyes and ears of the North. As we walked towards the parlor, I could only imagine what he wanted to talk about was. I could sense he was nervous, I mean his hand was shaking fairly bad. How could Odin go from a strong willed general to a nervous, shaking mess? I shook my head and pushed open the parlor with my free hand and guided the Norwegion to the plush seats by the window. I sat down and motioned for him to sit.
“Come now Odin, surely you want to sit down, drink some tea and chat.”
He sighed and sat down across from me, face illuminated by the little light coming in. I gave him a smile.
“Now tell me my friend, what was it you wanted to talk about?”
Odin looked down and sighed. “Okay..so I get that my nation is now...part of yours..and I am expected to well….bow down before you but just know that this has..nothing to do with our union, got it?”
“Okay…” Now I was slightly concerned. Why would Odin start a conversation with that?
“Good. Now with that out of the way,” He took a deep breath. “I know I haven’t always been there for you...I was weak and relied on Maxis for protection and in the end I was blindsided by power and hurt the ones I care about most. I ended up hurting you..You only ever wanted freedom and I didn’t understand that. All I saw was a brat who couldn’t handle a little pain...and for that, I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I hurt you. I’m sorry I…god...I’m sorry I blinded you and-” He was cut off by a maid bringing in the tea. I waved her off and prepared two cups, setting one down before him.
“Okay? Your apology is coming centuries late but whatever. Do continue.” I took a sip of my tea, noticing his discomfort under my gaze.
“Ri-right..um...I..God I know it’s late but I want to make it up to you. I want to make it up to you. I want to be there for you, to make up for all the times I hurt you..I want to save you...because well...I care about you.” I raised an eyebrow at that.
“You care about me? Even after all these years of fighting and all the bloodshed? You are stranger than I remember Odin, but I think...I think it is time we put the past behind us..You can do as you wish, just one request...Promise me you’ll stay?” And he said nothing. He only smiled and closed his eyes.

It’s so fuckin weird how you can be so into something that it dominates your free time and leaks into all your hobbies somehow, and then given a little room to breathe it can sort of evaporate into the atmosphere.
At least, that’s what I went through with Hetalia. I mean, it was inevitable, since I was into it more for the fandom than the source material (the source material was pretty shit honestly) so then when the fandom really died down my interest sort of died down with it.
I’m in a weird space now where I kinda still like some of the characters (at least, the versions of them I developed in my head) but overall pretty uninterested in it. I organized my followed accounts on Tumblr and Twitter, went through some more embarrassing posts on my old blog, and now I’m stuck with a dilemma... Do I want to keep up all of my fan art and fanfics? I kinda feel like I came out of an embarrassing teenager phase because I feel kinda silly for being so obssessed with it. I’m not generally a shippy person, ironically (´～｀ヾ)
BTW! if you only followed me for Hetalia and you’re not interested anymore, feel free to unfollow me. The only posts left I’ll probably make about it are for Hetabang. And I’ve noticed that I get little to no activity anymore anyway, so the follower-count is really just haunting me at this point

2. What’s your most recent fic and how far do you think you’ve come?
Probably my as yet unpublished hetabang fic. It still needs work but I have a pretty good idea of the story now.
4. In your opinion and without looking at any numbers, what’s your most popular fic?
Probably Partially A Ghost or Pretend, they’re the ones I get the most comments on.
6. Is there any fic that makes you super embarrassed to reread and remember you wrote that?
I take solace in the fact that I was like 13 and this was 100% a joke fic but in hetalia’s heyday i wrote iceland/mr puffin fic in which it was heavily implied that he fucking put the bird’s entire head in his mouth. I’m never visiting my old Wattpad again in my life.
8. What’s the oldest (longest since last update) fic you most want to continue (unfinished or no)?
It’s a tossup between No Need To Be Brave and Shoot You Down. I think I’ll be able to get back on NNTBB as soon as I either rewatch Ackley or season 4 comes out, and it’s short so once I get that back it’ll be like a month and then it’s done, but SYD has a really good ending I’m excited to write even if I haven’t quite ironed out the middle.
10. Have you ever written for a fandom without reading other fanfic for it?
I don’t read fic very heavily, but I’ve only really written for aph and ackley, both of which I’ve read a few fics for. I definitely could since I don’t really use it as research or anything, I just haven’t.
12. Have you ever written a fic and decided never to publish it? Why?
There’s a few that are niche even for me, like my loveparent drabbles, so I just send them to you and Surya since I know nobody else is really that bothered? Not in a salty way, it’s just Our Thing.
14. What’s the biggest change in your taste between when you started in fandom and today?
Death of the source material.
16. Have you ever stopped writing a fic/for a fandom because it wasn’t receiving enough attention?
Not really. I sort of don’t care who reads things as long as my friends do.
18. What’s your most underrated fic?
Something That Lasts probably? I spent a lot of time at it when I made it.
20. Have/Would you ever rewrite a fic? If yes, would you take the original down?
Probably not.
22. Has there ever been anyone who’s made you freak out because they read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed?
No big-name fans when the fandom is you and your two friends. Also no big-name fans when the fandom is barely there.
24. What’s the meanest review you’ve ever gotten? Do you think the reviewer intended it?
I don’t think I’ve ever got any mean reviews? However, I screenshat my nicest one without realising that was an odd-numbered question so

26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised?
Character I guess? I put a lot of thought into character and I like to know when it shows.
28. if you could only ever write for a single crossover or a single fandom again, which would you pick?
I already write almost exclusively hetalia. It’s a cringe and fail existence but I will take it.
30. Do you continue to write for a fandom after you’ve moved on or do you focus solely on the new one?
I’ve only written for ackley and hetalia like I said, and I haven’t moved on from either of them, but I also haven’t updated or worked on No Need To Be Brave since the last season ended and the hype sorta died down. I think I would stop writing if I moved on, though. I write more because I enjoy it than anything else and I wouldn’t write something if I didn’t like writing it.
32. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?
Eduard for sure, I think I know his character well enough that he sort of writes himself by now.
34. Was there any fic that you wrote that really surprised you in the fandom reaction? Was it just by the numbers or did they take it an entirely different way?
Not really.
36. Have you ever sincerely written a ship you do not support into a fic?
No. I’ve definitely written ships in the past that I now no longer like, but I write what I want to write.
38. Have you ever purposefully written something you know your readers would find uncomfortable/would not enjoy? If yes, why?

40. Do you feel like you put out enough content?
I update when I update.
42. How many views has your most popular fic gotten?
Partially A Ghost has 747.
44. Do you follow/favorite/kudos/comment/review more stories than you have received?
I don’t read much, but I do try to comment when I can think of something to say.
46. Do you consider yourself a diverse author?
In terms of character? Yeah, I try to include whoever I can. In terms of genre? I feel like I stick too heavily to real-world settings when I would genuinely like to do wilder high-fantasy shit at some point.
48. Does anyone you know from outside of fandom know you write fanfic? Are they involved in the same fandom too?
Yeah, a lot of people. Generally, though, there isn’t a lot of overlap.
50. Has writing fanfic had a significant impact on your life? Would you say it’s entirely positive?
It’s definitely made me a better writer. I wouldn’t be on the uni course I’m on now if I hadn’t started writing fanfic.

The wait is over! The applications are done and they are done a month early! We want to thank everyone that has been patient with us so far. We ask that you PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND CHECK OUT THE QUESTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ASKED IF YOU HAVE NOT YET. Now, before we dive in, I want to clarify a few things for the people who ask the same questions over and over.
FIRST,

WE ARE A BIG BANG AS IN A BIG BANG OF CONTENT, NOT THE WRITING EXPECTATIONS
WE DO NOT EXPECT 50K FICS FROM YOU OR EVEN 10K FROM ALL OF YOU.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CREATE SOMETHING THAT LONG, GO AHEAD! OUR WORD LIMIT IS 75K. BUT IF YOU WRITE SHORTER, THAT IS FINE. WE WILL PARTNER YOU ACCORDINGLY!
SECOND,
WE ARE NOT GOING TO PARTNER YOU WITH SOME RANDOM PERSON WHO DOESNT SHARE YOUR INTERESTS. THE APPLICATION IS THOROUGH SO THAT WE CAN GET YOU PARTNERED WITH SOMEONE WHO LIKES WHAT YOU LIKE AND COULD WORK WITH YOU WELL SO THAT YOUR COLLABORATION IS AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE. There are four applications. General, Dark Fic, N$F\/\/, and Backup:
- If you are only planning to create for general content or controversial (which is generally reserved for colony x colonizer fics and incest outside of dark fic), you ONLY have to fill out the general application. But the general application must be filled out first by everyone, including people only applying as backups.
- You MUST be 18 to apply for NSFW. If I find you are younger, you will be kicked. You can apply for NSFW if you don’t necessarily plan to write it but wouldn’t be against it if your group/partner agrees to it.
- You do not have to participate in the collab part of the event if you only want to be a backup, just specify on the backup application
- There is no age limit on dark fic
- Please be as specific as possible so we can partner you up best we can!
If you have any concerns, you can ask on the event Discord server, on this blog, or message one of the hosts personally on @lluviadinoche or @basement-prussia. But please read the questions that have already been asked and check the guidelines and FAQ first please because we have been getting a repeat of the same questions over and over.

What is hetabang?
Hetabang is the new name for the event. This is stemmed from the fact that while we are using the same base as normal Big Bangs in fandoms, we are taking our own direction with it greatly with how the collaborations work and the general fic lengths not having a set amount people have to write to be approved to be in the event.
At this point, the usage of Big Bang refers more to the fact we are bursting the fandom to life and bringing a burst of content than the original meaning. So instead we will call this event Hetabang!

i am a bit new to big bangs, are they all where u pair artists with fic writers? will this one be like that? sorry if its a dumb question lol, thabk you so much for hosting this!
- Yes! Now I wouldn’t really call this a big bang anymore given we are straying from the traditional expectations of one (specifically fic length and how I am allowing everyone in). But this does follow the fic and artist partnership (cosplayers, editors, etc fall under artist as well). This one will follow that format! And you’re welcome! I am really excited to host this :)
I don't actually like shipping at all :,v So if this is predominantly for ships, I'm certainly not a good fit...
- You can clarify this on the application and we will make sure to work out a partnership for you with someone who either doesnt like/focus on ships either or in general doesn’t care whether they are working on ships or not.
Do we have to submit applications to join? And what would be the size and format requirements for artists? Will there be a Discord Server for this?
- We’re thinking about the discord server. And yes you will submit applications to join (application will be posted in August). We will let you know more about size and format for art later on!
I actually did a golden twenties photoshooting with my viking trio ♡ I would love to also add some fanfics to this big bang though!
- Ah! That’s so cool! You can post those photos under the tag #bringbackhetalia2k19 now as a support building towards the event! This is a tag being used on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and on here as a way to revive the fandom currently. You can also use the tag #hetabang or tag either me (Lluvia) or the cohost (Eggs) or this blog and we will reblog it here!

Are there going to be succeeding polls to determine how many people are trying to make specific types of content?
- Yep! These will be posted as well as an application to be a backup in case someone drops. We will try to release polls every week to help make the application better and get the kinks figured out. I am working on the next one right now :)

- There is no main theme! But all announcements will be made on this blog.

ayo questions: If we know a person that's also taking part in the hetabang and we both want to be in the same group, is it possible to make that arrangement? If we were to ask?
As a general rule no, if we made that exception for one group we would have to do so for everyone.
We made the application process the way it is so that while there's still a chance you can be paired with someone you know there's also the chance to meet new people. If we just let people pick on their own, let's face it a majority would gravitate their friends or big names in the fandom.
Not saying it's impossible, there's definitely a chance that you'll be paired with your friends but we won't purposely pair friends together unless there's a good reason for it and you contact us.
