God I absolutely loved this show. I bought another ticket for tonight after seeing it yesterday because I wanted to spend more time with it. What a good note to end Sondheim's career on.
All of my thoughts here may have spoilers for HWA but are probably incomprehensible without seeing it anyway
I went bananas for Anyone Can Whistle this past month, and this show has really similar vibes, of broad characters doing absurd farcical things in an unreal setting. It really really scratched that itch for me.
The music is playful and fun, and Sondheim expressed anxiety that his work was sounding derivative to him but I think this all felt very fresh. I'm excited for the cast album
There's also more music than I expected, and I wouldn't have noticed when we stopped getting songs if I didn't already know about it. In this show, the songs happen as artifice and the later moments of breakdown and truth are done without it. Did they intend to subvert the traditional musical theatre trope of song as big emotional truth telling? Maybe! The book scenes are really good regardless so I wasn't missing the music.
"Wake up it's the end of the world you morons!"
Denis O'Hare was amazing, so was Micaela Diamond, so was this absolute rock star cast
"What was that?" "Maybe another waiter"
The cloned dogs
The sets were good. The effect of the library being drawn backwards as they escape was very cool.
Bishop song
Bishop and Marianne scene. "Happy birthday, make a wish" really got me
Fritz saying "but that's like my chair" before the soldier crushes it is a really nice moment of a tiny agony
i like that we don't get a lot of Marianne's interiority, like she as a character is allowed to keep secrets from us. From the song about superficiality to her last lines like "she finally remembered the thing she had to do. And she didn't tell anybody, she just did it." Rachel Bay Jones did a wonderful job with her
"let's make love then kill ourselves!" "... how about we see how the sex goes first."
"Where did we go wrong?" "Brunch. The first fatal mistake."

oh bestie please share some books on your tbr! (as if my tbr needed more books lmao) and ofc the one you're currently reading!
OH MY GOSH I'M REALLY ABOUT TO DO THIS
as long as it just stays between us (and well Tumblr) ;)
But honestly SECRET, sending love to wherever you are because this is one of my favorite subjects <3 hihihihihi
Tumblr media
some favs of mine, that I've already read:
Morning Glory by Lavyrle Spencer: cried literally from just how healthy and beautiful their whole relationship was. Western/WW2. Beautiful writing. Flawed characters. This book was a 12/10 at least. BUT NOT KU UNFORTUNATELY :(
Against A Wall by Cate C Wells THIS BOOK HERE IS NARUTO FROM AGAIN. HE IS MY INSPIRATION, MY MUSE, MY EVERYTHING. MY HIMBO!! Love Cash more than life itself. AND IT'S KU ;)
Win Some, Lose Some : MMC on the spectrum, high-school setting, 18, such a healthy lovely relationship. Loved her and loved him. Only MMC's perspective.
Real Players Never Lose by Micaela Smeltzer. He's sweet and hot and a college jock but intelligent and loves his plus-size baddie to bits.
Beast in Shining Armor by Cassandra Gannon. I just loved them. He was beautiful, mean, but so, so in love with her. Enemies-to-Lovers but make it i-loved-you-since-we-were-just-kids. Fantasy, crazy writing, awesome setting.
Bass-Ackwards by Eris Adderly. I won't say anything just age-gap and not ethical. But awesome. Read at you orn risk heheheh
Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn. This is a trilogy and has no business being this good. THE PLOT WAS HEAVY WILD CRAZY AND A WHOLE FUCKING LOT. But it all made sense!!!!!!! Warning though: it's underage.
Dear Grumpy Boss by Julia Wolf. This is sweet with some light angst. Plus-size baddie and hot, rich brother's best friend.
Tumblr media
Honestly everything by Claire Kent. Short novellas, lots and lots of smut but holy goodness. 3rd POV. Personally, love her writing, not everyone does though.
Last Light by Claire Kent Embers by Claire Kent (age-gap but make it my-dead-boyfriend's-dad-old. He's literally her dead boyfriend's dad HAHAHA. Post-apocalypse. Just surviving. He's hot in his very own way but oh well, Kent's writing is special in its really weird way. It's kind of a hit or miss hihihi)
Haven by Claire Kent (he's hooooooot and responsible?! i'm always in for that ;)) Hold by Claire Kent (just love it. it's in a kind of sci-fi setting but honestly, Kent's writing is solely focused on the relationship it doesn't really feel like sci-fi) Fall by Claire Kent (this here ladies and gentlemen... DON'T SHOOT ME, HE'S A CAVEMAN. A REAL FUCKING CAVEMAN. I think I need to see a psychiatrist because holy macaroni, this story shouldn't have made me feel so many things. And well, keep in mind he's a caveman in a prehistoric setting... She's not... The dynamic is special)
A Soul To Keep: fantasy and well he's absolutely not human. SIX FREAKING PAGES TO DESCRIBE HIS DICK!!!!! but so so sweet. He just wants to be loved and love.
Consider Me by Becka Mack: adorable read
Not KU unfortunately but awesome, awesome books:
Eyes of SIlver, Eyes of Gold. Beautiful, healthy relationship. Plot is 12/10. I loved him and her just so much. They work together and we see there relationship develop in a way that's incredible. I would literally give anything to re-read this book for the very first time.
Lord of Scoundrels : beauty and the beast, regency. loved it. Not on KU :( but it's worth buying honestly...
Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center
GURLLL, i've got so many more!!!!! I'm gonna stop myself now because maybe you'll see this and will only think wtf is this girl reading....
BUT NOW YOU HAVE TO INTRODUCE ME TO YOUR WORLD OF the BRIDGERTONS!!!!!! I NEED SOME RECOMMENDATIONS!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3
Me, after posting this:
Tumblr media
I'm gonna hide now.

I'm listening to the Parade 2023 cast recording, and I just keep replaying one part of Leo At Work/What Am I Waiting For?, along with this one part of All the Wasted Time, and I just need to write about it, so this is going to be totally haphazard and very long. Here we go.
When Lucille goes:
How can he want me? / So plain, so prim / How can he be so sure?
Don't I wish I could be sure / Like him? / Like Leo / For Leo?
It sounds like:
how can he want me? / so PLAIN, so PRIM / HOW CAN HE BEEEE SO SUUUUURE????
DON'T I wish i could be sure / like him? / like LEOOOOO / for LEOOOOO?
BECAUSE. At this point in the musical, Lucille is a young woman who has not experienced the world. Neither its treasures nor its horrors. What is she waiting for? SHE'S WAITING TO BE SURE. OF HERSELF. Not only for Leo, but WITH Leo.
Leo sings interspersed:
Yes, Lucille / I am building a life for us.
No, Lucille / We cannot have a picnic.
And it sounds like:
Yes, LUCILLE / I am BUILDING a life for us
No, LUCILLE / We CANNOT have a PICNIC
BECAUSE. At this point in the musical, Leo is deeply unhappy and unfulfilled. Unfortunately, his story turns tragic. But these lines here are reflected back somewhat in All the Wasted Time, as:
Just look at you / How can I not be in love with you?
And Ben makes that sound like:
Just look at YOU / How CAN I NOT be in love with YOU?
Thus echoing some of Leo's earlier frustrations as being answered. Not only for Lucille but WITH Lucille. And in the same song, she sings:
Now look at me / Now that you're finally here with me /
Now I know I was right to wait / And everyone else was so wrong /
For so long.
And Micaela makes it sound like:
Now LOOK AT ME / Now that YOU'RE FIIIINALLY HERE with ME /
Now I know I WAS RIGHT TO WAIT / And EVERYONE ELSE WAS SOOOO WRONG /
For SO LOOOOONG.
BECAUSE.
THESE SONGS MIRROR EACH OTHER. THESE ACTORS LEAN INTO THE MIRRORING.
AND I LOVE IT. SO MUCH.
So, this was my little petition for Ben and Micaela to work together forever. Thank you and good night.

Hi Max!
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Tony noms if you feel like sharing :)
Ok sorry to you and the others who asked I wanted to digest them.
Sharron D. Clarke's snub is unforgivable at the level of Gideon Glick's snub for Significant Other. Just like Gideon she should WIN. Like yes Linda shouldn't be in featured, but its what happened and she should have a Tony for that performance. And after last year's loss too.
Actor in a play is likely Sean Hayes... but it is a dynamic category and there is room for an upset by Wendell or Stephen.
Jefferson's snub was also horrendous. My fav performance of the year. I never thought he would win because it is a holiday show. But what I was not expecting was a nomination snub. And they didn't forget about the show because it got some technical nominations. One of the most cherished experiences I have had in the theatre. Favorite show of the year.
I always though Some Like it Hot would get the most noms even though I haven't seen it. I know enough to know that it has a lot of actors for noms, and it is one of the stronger ones so it was a lock for a lot of categories it was a lock for. Shocked about Borle getting in based off of those performances on TV. I was hoping for Burnap for that spot specifically. But I'm being a fanboy, I'll get back to this when I see Camelot on Sunday. Everyone is going for Platt or Groban... but it's totally gonna be J Harrison Ghee. They have the narrative. Platt a Groban will split the vote. I have doubts SLIH will take musical but they'll want to give it something. I bet it will win actor and maybe choreo
I actually thought Camelot wouldn't get a revival nom. So shocked that it did. Donica's nom was expected. (Early this season I thought he would get an easy win but Shucked coming out of nowhere and Alex getting put in actor instead of actress threw a wrench in that). The lack of a Soo nom is really a snub (especially with her pulling double duty this season), I was so impressed by her charisma in the Today performance. Again, Andrew Burnap is one of my favorite male actors in the GAME so I was rooting for him big time. So weird to see it get a revival nom but not a nom for the book or direction? Feels contradictory.
Jessica Hecht out of nowhere nomination. There's always one though.
Jodie Comer is probably the easiest lock out of all acting awards. I also think Uranowitz is a lock. That said, I wonder if how hyped Prima Facie is could backfire and they could go for Chastain who is magnificent and worthy of the award. I'm not seeing it until the end of June though... talk then.
Leopoldstadt will sweep and it will be done. Life of Pi may have a chance of sneaking in for direction? Maybe.
I don't know how I feel about score, but KA should get musical, book, actress, featured actress. The score isn't great though. There are a couple good ones... but if it wins it will win from a KA sweep in the writing categories and best musical. I know best actress in a musical is competitve... but Victoria is giving a masterclass. Annaleigh, while fantastic, doesn't reach the depths that Victoria does. And Victoria has lost her previous three noms, which I feel increases her chances. Micaela is really amazing from what I've seen but I think this is gonna be a platform for her to move on to other meaty roles.
I need to see Parade.... but like I don't understand why these very nice concerts are being lauded as great revivals. I adored Into the Woods! It is a very nice concert though. And that's not being dismissive, I know that these can be impactful. The revival of Chicago is a concert that was expanded into a slightly fuller staging and it is MASTERFUL. So concerts CAN be great revivals.... but I just don't see it like everyone else does. But I am a little at a loss at the fact that either Parade or Woods will win revival. (I'll be so pissy if Sweeney wins).
I loved Shucked. It's dumb and unsubstantial but a blast. Glad ti got love. It should win direction, set, and featured actor. And it has a good shot at set and after seeing Alex Newell... there's no WAY they won't win. It's a textbook featured performance win. Taking one song and shaking the house DOWN with it. And they found some great dramatic beats in a duet in the second act. And it's such a thin show that it made it more impressive.
SO happy that Ruthie Ann Miles got in.
Prima Facie not being nominated for Best Play after WINNING the Olivier is gaggy
THREE new pulitzer prize winners for drama in best play. Gag.

ok! here it is! my thoughts on Parade, a show I love very much and have been dying to see and finally got to see!!
It was perfect!
Micaela Diamond is going to be a star. Her voice is astounding and she captured a perfect blend of frailty and fierceness. A steel magnolia, if you will. I feel so lucky to have seen her so early in her career bc I do think she's going to have a big one.
Ben Platt is a star for a reason. I want to hate him but he was so good in this! He was so nebbishy and annoyed but then when the scene called for it (come up to my office) he could totally flip a switch and become smooth and commanding. His voice is beautiful and he was surprisingly funny.
I wish I'd seen it with another southern Jew. There was a lot of jewish humor in it and also a lot of southern digs that you can only fully appreciate with that rare breed, a southern jew ("It's like a foreign land, I didn't understand that being southern's not just being in the south,"). Being a southern jew really is a rare thing and my family was moving to Atlanta right around the time of Leo Frank's death (they were in Milledgeville before that). From the other side of Leo Frank, I still don't really understand chicago jews and all the time I think "the jews are not like jews, I thought that jews were jews but I was wrong."
UGH the jason robert brown of it!! If you love him, you love him, and I love him. I wish he'd been there, I don't care about meeting Ben Platt but I'd just about die to meet JRB (or Alfred Uhry!! I would talk to him about how his family were temple jews and my family were AA jews and ne'er the twain shall meet! The temple was german and AA was russian. I'm sorry I know this is inside baseball but again! being a southern jew! the one thing about my upbringing that I regret I can't give to my own children.)
When Mary Phagan's mother says, "so I forgive you, jew" felt like being slapped seeing it live.
I don't know how Ben Platt does the ending 8 times a week. It's not a secret that Leo Frank is lynched and his lynching is in the show, but before it happens in the show, with a rope around his neck, Leo sings the sh'ma, one of our most sacred prayers, to the tune of the Old Red Hills of Home, and I couldn't breathe. It's excruciating. And he does it 8 times a week, and his fellow cast members have to lynch him 8 times a week. It's a gorgeous diverse cast who have to do this over and over and over. It's heart breaking.
This is the kind of show that's meant to be a limited run-- the show is not an upper and it's hard to watch and I'm sure it's hard to be in, but there are 6 more weeks in the run and if you get the chance to see it I hope you do.

Hello fellow sister in Christ! I have a story and question for you.
On the day that I was baptized and received into the Catholic Church, the confirmation saint that I chose was Saint Rose of Lima. The reason I chose her was because I thought her name was pretty and I wanted her name as my confirmation name. Afterwards, I felt like I regretted my choice because I felt like she just didn't "fit" my circumstances. I started to wish that I had chosen Saint Kateri Tekakwitha or Saint Joan of Arc to be my confirmation saint... But then, I started to reflect on my decision to choose Saint Rose of Lima and I came to the realization that God probably had me pick her specifically for a reason. Not just for the name, but because she dealt with family problems as well.
She was also a very kind and caring soul who ended up joining a Third Order after not being allowed to join a convent. I'm someone who has wanted to join the religious life myself, but in all honesty, I'd probably need to join a Third Order as my option due to certain health conditions I live with. And as for being kind and caring, those are qualities I hope to embody to the best of my ability as a social worker. So, in the end, I think I made the correct decision of choosing Saint Rose of Lima as my confirmation saint.
With all of that being said, my question to you is: Who is your confirmation saint, and why did you choose him or her?
Sincerely,
@ramen-chan-27 (Asking on anon since this is my sideblog)
Hi! Thanks for sharing your story <33 I actually didn't know much about St. Rose of Lima so thanks for letting me know! I'll definitely read more about her. All I can say is that all vocations are wonderful and I'm glad you were able to find which one's best for you :D
About my confirmation saints, I don't have one actually. I don't think we have that tradition of choosing a patron saint for our baptism/confirmation.
But if I were to choose one it would be St. Michael Archangel. As you know, my name is Micaela, which is like the female version of Michael, and I have this vague memory, from when I was little, of my parents teaching me about him and saying that we have the same name. I love that our names mean "who is like God?" it's awesome lol. So I like to think that he's my patron Saint!
And another friend Saint I have is St. Josemaría Escriva de Balaguer! He's a modern Saint so he kind of feels very close to us and can relate deeply to his emphasis on sanctifying through our jobs and ordinary lives.
How beautiful and different are all the saints, right?

Relationship History Tag Game
Tagged by @authoralexharvey! It was interesting to see a little bit of background on the cast of ASMLP's relationships (or their avoidance of them rather?). I'm sure it's manifesting in all sorts of fascinating ways during the actual story. Well, fascinating for the reader--Nadia, Etienne, and Simone might find it less entertaining.
Rules: briefly (or not) describe what kinds of intimate relationships (platonic, romantic, sexual, or otherwise) your MCs have had PRIOR TO THE BOOK STARTING. Have they had their hearts ripped out before jumping into your fluffy romance? Are they aro/ace and have never been in a long-term relationship before?
I did this for Isaac, Renato, and Dorian last time, so let's hear from Ben, Ollie, and Kinslayer next.
Ben
Yeah, yeah, laugh it up about how you could fill an encyclopedia with all the people he's slept with. But he puts just as much effort into platonic relationships as he does into screwing around. Of course he's close with Desmond, and not just because he's Ben's sire. Desmond was the role model he'd needed since his father and older brother died when he was still a kid (thanks WW I). Desmond showed him that a man could provide with more than just money. That he could fight not just for dominance or honor (whatever that is) or his own anger, but justice, love, and the protection of others. Hanging around Desmond also helped him figure out that he could check off "all of the above" when it came to which genders he was attracted to. That figurative encyclopedia started filling up pretty quick afterwards.
As for Theodore...look, they fight like cats and dogs, but Theo's all right (do not breathe a word of this, got it?). Ben wouldn't say the guy's like an older brother or anything. More like a rival. Micaela likes him anyway, and she's always had a knack for reading people.
Hell, probably because Micaela is good people. She gets a little gloomy sometimes, and maybe wanders off by herself for a decade or two, but she always goes out of her way to help everyone. She's also a crack shot with a rifle, and has a lot of guts in a quieter sort of way. He likes to just lay out by the lake with her sometimes and stare up at the stars.
Same goes with most everyone he lives with in Olympia. They drive him crazy sometimes, but that's kind of how it is with family, whether they're related by blood or not. Well, he is related to them by blood, only in the vampire way, not the--oh, hell, nevermind. You get what he means, right?
Ollie
You're going to make her say it, aren't you? Fine. She loved...loves...feels something for Renato. You don't survive an apocalypse with somebody and just stop caring when you're not dating anymore, okay? Even after you've been broken up for years and you're afraid he'll do something that'll force you to kill him.
Mergus is their father. For all intents and purposes, and through magic if not genetics. They quite literally owe him their lives. So, Renato can have his little rebellion, work out whatever shit he needs to work out, but if it comes down to the two of them...she knows who she'll choose.
As for other relationships, she keeps it simple, no strings attached. Why would she want to try for anything more after she found out she could be replaced by a fucking goldfish?
Kinslayer
They've lived a long, long, looong time, friends. So, for the sake of brevity, they're obviously not going to get around to naming everyone.
Haru gets first mention, though. They've known each other for...well, at least the better part of few hundred years, give or take. Things started out rocky, as they usually do for all their kind. But Kinslayer had grown patient enough over the centuries to not obliterate some scrappy little class three at the first annoyance. And Haru had the sense not just to realize that, but to be curious instead of mistake their disinterest in territorial pissing contests for weakness. Eventually, they took to traveling together sometimes, even settling down and having kids now and then. Haru is, in a nutshell, their partner.
While they haven't forged quite the same bonds with the other ragtag psychic vampire misfits who chose to trail along after them like ducklings at some point, Kinslayer doesn't mind them either. Well. Luxe can go piss up a rope most days. But once in awhile his mouth does come in handy for getting out of a scrape.
On the subject of their kin, if they were capable of regret, not living up to their moniker with Tristan Knox would be their biggest. But they're a mind reader, not a fortune teller. It took some time and doing, but they eventually corrected that misstep. Yessir.
Which brings them to an honorable mention for their little black sheep cousin, Renato. Despair and desperation aren't bravery maybe, but they'll do in a pinch. Kinslayer looks forward to finding out what havoc he'll cause next. And whether he'll figure out how to dig deep enough to find out what he's really made of.
No pressure tags @theimperiumchronicles @k--havok @vacantgodling @korblez @late-to-the-fandom @words-after-midnight & an open tag for anyone who wants to give this a go!

The Buffy novel "The Book of Fours" was terrific. I really loved getting to learn about the Slayer before Buffy, India, through her diary entries and whatnot.
She reminds me of Buffy quite a bit (which I think was the point), but not enough to be a carbon copy of her or anything like that (India was a tomboy and Buffy is definitely a girly-girl, for instance. She was also from the Philippines originally and an army brat, who had to travel the world a lot for that reason, etc.). But some of the issues that India had with her mom reminded me of some of the Buffy and Joyce stuff. And Buffy's deep love for her Watcher Kit (who she sacrificed herself for, and that's how she died) reminded me of Buffy's love for Angel some. And in some sort of AU, I could have seen that being the way Buffy died too, or something.
I also found it funny that at first when Faith was reading India's diaries, she said, "I like this girl. She has balls." But then she read a bit more (after India thought her mom didn't want her, that her dad couldn't stay with her because of his work, and that Kit didn't love her), and was like, "Okay, I can't read any more. Whiny, much?" And it's like, "Sheesh, Faith. Make up your mind." I also feel like S3 Faith thinking that last bit is a little bit like the pot calling the kettle black.
The whole plot about each Slayer corresponding with a different one of the four elements... and there being these mummies with these axes that tied into each element, too (and could also summon earth, wind, fire, and water), and if they sliced their matching Slayer with the axe would automatically kill her that way, was also really, really cool? Like, holy crap, I wish we'd gotten this whole thing in the show. (The mummies were actually the underlings of a higher power). For those curious, India was the Slayer of Water, Buffy was the Slayer of Air, Kendra was the Slayer of Earth, and Faith was the Slayer of Fire. And someone please give me some Avatar: The Last Airbender AU with this now. LOL
As I said in another post (as this was the prologue, so this solution gets spoiled for you way before you get to the end), I also really adored having all four Slayers fight this threat together: Buffy and Faith, of course, who are still alive, but Kendra and India through temporarily possessing Cordelia and Willow. I thought that whole thing was really clever. This whole ending was, really.
I also enjoyed the stuff with Lucy Hanover (who's a Slayer ghost in some of these books, who I should probably make a whole different post about), as well as Micaela from "The Ghost Roads" trilogy making an appearance again. I honestly wasn't expecting the latter, but I appreciated it. I didn't think her appearance was overdone or undid her trying to make amends at the end of that trilogy, which is good.
Willow almost dying because of a car accident Joyce got into was nuts...
And the Bangel in this book, as always, is wonderful.
And it's just great to have Faith here, because I honestly wish she was in more of these books that take place during season three.
As much as I love Nancy Holder's Buffy books (and I really, really do), there are times where I'm begging to feel where things are getting a tiny bit too removed from BtVS (like, there's a part of me that doesn't really believe elements of them would have ever actually happened in the show. But when I shut that part of me up, I'm like, "Oh my gosh, this is so awesome!"), and think that some of these ideas might have been better off as their own original series (because it's like she's starting to add lore and stuff that wasn't in the show. And part of me loves this, because the stuff she adds actually fits really well and is amazing and intriguing! But since it wasn't in the show, of course, you know it's not canon. But at the same time, these books were okayed by the show writers before they were published, so maybe it makes it like second tier canon, at best, so it all gets a bit confusing if you think about it too hard. I guess the key is to not get hung up on these details, and to just try and enjoy these stories for what they are). But for the most part, I didn't really feel that way with this book.
It's a really solid, epic novel, that I really kind of wish had been part of the show. And had parts that were even better than some of said show, honestly.
Edit: It's also interesting that we now have had two Watcher/Slayer relationships in the Buffy books I've read so far. And they've given us the rule that Watchers and Slayers really aren't supposed to fall for each other (I don't think the show ever said that, though it makes so much sense, but I could be wrong about the series never having mentioned it). Meanwhile, right now in Boom, in that one AU where Fred's a Slayer, she and Wesley are together and no one's mentioned it being frowned upon. Huh...
Edit 2: This book also makes me wish the show had given us more of Faith being good/trying to be good before her villainous turn in season three. Because she has that whole speech about, "...So I slay, I behave, I do the perfect good little girl routine?" But maybe it's just me, but I feel like we didn't really see that? Or at least not as much as we should have. Especially since season three randomly has so many episodes without Faith with no explanation as to why she isn't there or what she's doing. So having her save the world from another apocalypse here helps me buy her anger in that scene more when she says that: "So I slay, I behave, I do the perfect good little girl routine. And who does everybody thank? Buffy."
Edit 3: Oh! And getting more Kendra stuff was *chef's kiss* as I mentioned in my other post:)

Hi, I am Micaela (at least that's the name my parents gave me), and I am not sure about literally anything related to my identity. I'm not very sure about how this works, but I thought you may be able to help(?
Ok first of all I'm afab and even though I don't feel really disphoric ab my body, I do feel a little uncomfortable when people call me "mujer", for example (I live in a spanish speaking country).
I got to think that I maybe could be an nb person, but it still felt a little weird. I haven't discarded it yet, though, since it could be bc I'm not used to the idea.
(Could you please do a pronoun check with the name Mica and pronouns they/them? Some facts about myself: I am really passionate about music in general, but I more specifically really enjoy singing and listening to whatever I feel like listening at the moment. I also love reading and literature in general, though I don't really have the time to focus on this. I do not like running or swimming (like, at all), but I've been trying to lear a little swimming bc ik it's important. Whst else can I say... I have three dogs and they are sooo cute. Um, please mention me as a nonbinary person. I hope that's enough info lol.)
I also thought that I may be just a cis woman who wants to be smth else to make herself interesting (which is pretty sad), but idk.
I even got to consider that I might be a man, but they've got me a little traumatized and it's just really hard to even imagine myself as one (I'm just talking about my personal experience, but still I'm sorry if I made anyone feel ofended on any way).
I don't usually feel comfy wearing very femenine clothes, but sometimes I feel like it so I put on a cute outfit and go somewhere wearing it, and then regret doing it after some minutes. But this could ALSO not have anything to do with gender, so as you can see I'm a confused pile of teenager material. Help me please.
My sexual orientation is a whole mystery as well, but that woul make this way too long, so I'm just gonna sent it like this and, yeah.
Oh I would also appreciate if you could make some more pronoun checks for me, with the same info than the one above but changing a few things :)
1- the one above
2- changing the pronouns for she/they but keeping it nb
3- same as #2 but with she/her
4- same but with he/him
5- same but with he/they
6- keeping they/them but using whatever genders you think might suit me (on different paragraphs please)
7- the same as #6 but with she/they
8- same but with she/her
9- same but with he/him
10- same but with he/they
11- changing the gender to a girl
12- everything again but with Micaela instead of Mica (I'm sorry), and if you can think of a similar name that would sound good in spanish please tell me as well (it's not necessary to make more pronoun checks with that variation, I'm not that mean).
Okay sorry those are a lot of requests, feel free to take your time.
Of course, I will link some feminine/female genders, that I am not sure are in spanish, feel free to check them out!
Mica came by and told me they are non-binary, I didn't know so I asked them about and Mica was very nice. They also use they/them now, so please remember that
I told them she owed some guy money, but they asked me if he was against non-binary people. I realized Mica was scared. I went for them and helped her come out to a random guy. Starts are starts!
Mica got her new coat! She planned she write some poems on it. I told her to just be calm and write as a start, she also showed me some nice art she found. It has non-binary stuff, and I think she is non-binary?
He has a nice voice, also I heard that he goes by Mica, so I need to update his biography. He doesn't know I'm writing his non-binary life to help progression. With his premission.
Mica has made some nice music with me, he has this voice and I told them I know some cello. We made a nice poem-like song, but he wants to try more. Just drabbles, but they could make a career out of it.
6a. They are a demigirl, I asked Mica what is demigirl? They just said that it's when one is part girl or part feminine. They helped me a lot with some other stuff, but Mica is also feeling better. Not so feverish.
6b.They are making a story about paragirls like themself, and I feel like Mica is doing well. They are making me realize I may not be demigender, but I didn't tell them. Maybe later I'll tell Mica?
7a. She got some nice stuff, but I saw a demigirl flag and they shooshed me out? I won't tell her parents, I know they may not like it. I know Mica thinks your safe. Yea, Mica, I was talking about her the whole time.
7b.They came and said that she uses paragirl now, so I know they are ok with stuff like that. She has some knowledge on me, but how much do they know? Mica knows I'm trans and that's it? I should tell her I'm queer too!
8a.I saw her play piano, and she made the song sound like she was saying demigirl, which is her gender right? Anyway, I know she uses she/her, so I'm safe with pronouns. Mica use any new names?
8b.I know she has a dog, but I saw two dogs! Did she get a new dog or did the coming out make me forgot the color of them? Oh, she has 3 dogs. Ok, also Mica told me to tell you she a paragirl.
9a.He got some ncie heels, he told me to get him a newspaper? I think he is watching news more, wait wait, he told me he would make a letter about demigirls like him with newpapers. Mica is just a smart demigirl eh?
9b.I swore I saw him dancing to some song, he should dance more. I know where he is makes him worried, but Mica is missing out. Being a paragirl probably brings problems when girls vs boys comes up, but he could figure it out right?
10a.They have a new skateboard, and he made sure to paint it demigirl colors, which sound nice as frick. They asked if wanted him to paint me one but I don't mind. Mica does enough for themself alone!
10b.I got him, Mica by the way, a new dog sweater. They always want me to make them some, and I do get free dog pictures of the his cute dogs, but I want Mica to learn so I get them for free.
11a.She is just a girl with a hecking voice, I want Mica to get choir classes, but they say no. I respect her choice like their everything, but I am wanting to push this on her.
11b.I gave her a good, time. Made sure she felt like the girl she was. I learned she liked music so I got her some singers stuff. She also is getting some books soon from me.
11c.I told them that they are what they say, but they have been worried about over phone stuff. I think they said they want people to call them a girl and use they/them? I didn't have time to help them.
11d.He got a new book, and he said he has his dogs learning some words. I taught his dogs 'girl' and that Mica was a good girl, so they understood he was. Mica is nice to his dogs.
11e.I made sure they had fun, he got called a girl but they say it's ok, so maybe he is fine with girl? I want to wait until they comfirm it but just a update on him.
For 12 I decided to make a few paragraphs, no gender mentions. I hope it works in place for time for use both!
She got a new name, Micaela, and I know she will make it sound nice! I think she also spells it with a c, not a k, so be careful when spelling her name.
They have a letter written to a classmate you need to carry for me, but Micaela should have written Micaela on it. If you lose it they are after me.
He has some swim gear, and Micaela has wrote his name on it? I don't know why, but I want him to feel safe here, so if Micaela seems scared please ask him if he is.
Madra is a spanish name for girls that sounds nice, but maybe Micaela could work in spanish? I think it can be pronounced fine, but I only took a spanish class two years ago and know nothing anymore, so I am not the best. Monica also sounds nice
As for gender troubles, I had been questioning for a long time. I think exploring all base things is a good thing to do first: like all pronouns you know, etc. The gender bible is a nice place to look especially for dysphoria. Demigirl and Paragirl are gender identitys that are part feminine, and honestly those seem like good starting places. If you go through many labels that's ok!

“ i’m gonna miss you, you know. “ (from Lucille to Rick)
“𝙏𝙊 𝘽𝙀 𝙈𝙄𝙎𝙎𝙀𝘿” 𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙈𝙋𝙏𝙎. - @micaela-arg
NO LONGER ACCEPTING!
“ i’m gonna miss you, you know. “
Rick sighed softly. Their naked bodies were tangled in Lucille's satin sheets as his fingers lazily drew random shapes and swirls along her back. He kissed her shoulder. "The sun came up hours ago, but I don't want to move from this spot." He had a long journey back home to Alexandria, but he didn't want to be anywhere but right here and right now. It had been a long time since he'd felt this way about anyone.
Lucille sighed, nodding to agree with him. She turned her head, propping it up with her hand as she leaned on her elbow and watched him. His sex tousled hair and his blue eyes were enough to make her melt all over again. "I'm gonna miss you, you know?" She hadn't meant to blurt that out, but now that she had said it, she felt as if the tension in the room wasn't quite as thick.
He met her eyes before he leaned in and kissed her long and slow as he shifted them so that she was half on top of him. His fingers tangled in her hair. He nuzzled her nose as the kiss ended. "You could always come back to Alexandria with me. Judith and Carl would love to see you."
She leaned her forehead against his, swallowing thickly before she whispered, "Are we ready for that?"
He met her eyes, holding her gaze. "I am, but there's no pressure. Promise. We're moving at your pace. I told you that, and I meant it."

The Parade revival recording was underwhelming. To put it lightly. The show is difficult to present on songs alone and every song is dependent on the plot of the show. Why they opted to go the route of the obcr and release it only with songs and not go the Donmar Warehouse route and include the spoken elements of the show is beyond me.
I don't want to judge this too harshly, because I know Ben Platt and (especially) Micaela Diamond have both received outstanding reviews for their roles. Micaela definitely sounds beautiful, but, and I'm basing this purely on the cast recording, Ben falls flat. I thought he'd turned a corner with Come Up to My Office, but nothing he did sounded particularly great and without any spoken elements it was hard to get a read on how he was trying to portray Leo. His voice sounded technically good but lacked emotion, and it feels like Micaela held her emotions back.
I know everybody worked hard on this recording. And I wish I could say that I loved it. But I'm honestly not sure I'll ever listen to it over the OBCR or Donmar. And certainly never over the concert version. I'll listen a few times tomorrow to see if my opinion changes at all, but here's where I am for now.

We Both Came from Long-Term Relationshits
Eight years.
This is the exact years we had to endure (and/or enjoy) from our exes before finding ourselves in each others' arms.
Strawberry had an ex for eight years, so do I. When we met, we were fresh from each other's breakups (though mine was a fresh breakup from a 2-year relationship after the 8 year).
This is not a blog to talk about our exes.
This is a blog to express how moving on is part and parcel of a relationship, no matter the length of the relationship, and no matter how we've become so attached to the person.
Sometimes, we have to realize that letting go is the best decision we can ever take,
What we might be holding back from moving on are the memories, the dreams that have never been, and the promises that were broken.
We might have been thinking of plans from our exes about settling down and all those promises to forever.
However, one day, just one day, our partners just had to cut ties.
Whatever the reason - there is no point of holding on, when love is not anymore mutual.
We have to let go and let God.
My relationship with Strawberry, and both our relationships, actually, came at a time when we were both down - when we were clueless, eventually healing, from a love that we thought would endure forever.
Someone said, my boss actually, and it's the first time I knew of the term, that we are each other's "rebound."
According to Micaela Stein, "A rebound relationship is defined by being in a relationship based on a reaction to a previous relationship, where one or both members are still contending with issues raised by the past breakup."
This is true, that we both came from previous relationships. However, I would react to the part about us still contending from issues of the past breakup.
With the exchange of conversations I had with Strawberry, this has always been raised. There is just a plentiful and bucketful of whatifs.
What if we were just overwhelmed? What if we are still into our exes? What if there is no closure?
But the mere fact that we are talking about it openly is enough reason that we have moved on from the past.
The fact that I am writing this now is more than enough to openly discuss that we are ready for this relationship, and that whatever the painful experience we had, we are able to overcome it because we two are together in this story.
Perhaps that is the beauty of this rebound relationship when both of you came from heartaches. We can discuss something, we can relate to something, we can feel each other.
To our exes, I know Strawberry would agree, although I'm not and I will never speak in behalf of her, I want to thank you for teaching us lessons and giving us expectations - although broken promises sure are painful, you allowed us to grow by surviving the pains and aches you caused us.
Strawberry is a very good person. I really can't think of any reason why she was left. All I could think of (and Strawberry will get angry of this) is that she has everything a man could ever ask for.
She was his loss. But she is my gain.
To all those undergoing depression right now from failed relationships, especially those long-term ones, always remember that God has a story for you.
When one chapter closes, another one opens.
You just have to trust Him.
For God has two ways of answering:
Yes, it is for you.
No, He has better plans for you.
Let go and Let God.
Strawberry and I met at a time when we didn't expect for a(nother) relationship to blossom.
Who knows, it might be your story too?
Just trust the process.

Fictional Character Ask: Don José?
Favorite thing about them: His depth, complexity and dynamism as a character. He's much more than just the naïve lovesick wimp who goes mad with jealousy that pop culture and tenors who can't act paint him as being. His struggle between his conservative values and the allure of freedom and passion, and with his own capacity for rage, is something that exists in him long before he meets Carmen. At least in productions that include the too-often cut dialogue about his wayward past and the fact that he was forced to join the army because he killed another young man in a knife fight.
Least favorite thing about them: Nothing much. Just the little detail of his trying to force Carmen to stay with him and later come back to him against her will, then murdering her when he fails.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I have a temper, though I hope I can control it better than he can.
*I'm close to my mother.
*I think Carmen is fascinating.
Three things I don’t have in common with them:
*I'd make a terrible soldier.
*I can't imagine myself pulling a knife on a person, unless it were desperate self-defense.
*I'm female.
Favorite line: The middle section of the Flower Song:
Je me prenais à te maudire, à te détester, à me dire : pourquoi faut-il que le destin l'ait mise là sur mon chemin ? Puis je m'accusais de blasphème, et je ne sentais en moi-même, je ne sentais qu'un seul désir, un seul désir, un seul espoir : te revoir, ô Carmen, oui, te revoir!
(I took to cursing you, detesting you, asking myself
"Why did destiny have to throw her across my path?"
Then I accused myself of blasphemy, and within myself,
I felt but one desire, one desire, one hope:
To see you again, oh Carmen, to see you again!)
And near the end of the opera, this terrible yet powerful passage:
Ainsi, le salut de mon âme, je l'aurai perdu pour que toi, pour que tu t'en ailles, infâme, entre ses bras, rire de moi! Non, par le sang, tu n'iras pas ! Carmen, c'est moi que tu suivras!
(So I am to lose my soul's salvation, so that you can run to him,
Infamous creature, to laugh at me in his arms!
No, by my blood, you shall not go! Carmen, you're coming with me!)
brOTP: His mother, and Micaela, because even though he's willing to marry her, she seems more like an extension of his mother to him than a real romantic partner.
OTP: The fantasy of Carmen that comes to his mind whenever he sniffs the flower she threw at him. He'd be much better off if he stayed with her and left the real Carmen alone.
nOTP: Carmen herself; not that they aren't a fascinating pair to watch, but they're like oil and water.
Random Headcanon: All his references to salvation and damnation in the final scene are literal, not figurative. Even though he failed to become a priest as his mother hoped, the religious upbringing she gave him has left its mark. He sincerely thinks he's going to hell because of the life of "sin" his passion for Carmen has driven him to, and in the end, part of the reason why he kills her is that if he has to go to hell, he wants to take her there with him.
Unpopular Opinion: As with Carmen herself, I have more than one.
(1) What drives him to desperation in the end isn't love, or jealousy. It's that he's lost everything. His good name is destroyed, he has no position, no home and no friends, his mother is dead, he threw away his future with Micaela long ago, and he arguably thinks his soul is damned too. The hope of winning back Carmen's love is all he has left to live for, and he feels entitled to it, since it was "because of her" that he lost everything else. To say he only snaps out of mad passion and jealousy is so reductive.
(2) He doesn't "sacrifice everything" for Carmen. The only willing sacrifice he makes is letting her escape from arrest and his resulting demotion and month in prison. He doesn't chose to desert the army for Carmen; he almost leaves her rather than do so. But then his commanding officer Zuniga comes along to woo her for himself, mocks him and slaps him, and it's by rashly drawing his sword on Zuniga in humiliation and jealousy that he permanently disgraces himself and is forced to flee to a life of crime. To call that a sacrifice for love is an extreme stretch.
(3) I don't think of him as "Poor José" or think Carmen is a fool to give up the devotion he offers her. I do pity him, but his downfall is less Carmen's fault and more his own than he cares to admit, and since his devotion to Carmen comes with possessiveness that she can't bear and with values incompatible with her own, I don't blame her at all for rejecting him in the end. I still remember how freeing it was when I realized that I didn't need to fully sympathize with him or view him as Carmen's victim. It was like a weight lifted off my chest, which let me fully enjoy the opera and not feel disturbed by it.
Song I associate with them: What else? The Flower Song.
