Any Advice?
What’s up y’all? I’m here with another story from the prompt : Alfor learns Zarkon is getting married by @vld-prompts. Enjoy!
The red sky on Planet Daibaazal seemed rather darker than usual. This was a beautiful darker shade of red. The sky was a beautiful ombre blended red to dark red with the sky full of stars. The sky and ground suddenly were full of light brown dust, quickly flying and dissolving in the air.  Out came the creator of Voltron; King Alfor of Altea. He nearly ran up the many stairs of Daibazaal to meet his friend on the platform. When he removed his helmet, Zarkon looked rather upset than content like he usually did. The snow-white haired king frowned, shaking his head. Zarkon had everything he wanted at his fingertips; what could he possibly be upset about?
“Is something wrong, Zarkon?”
The King saw that he had something folded in his hands, his fists were clenched; hard. Zarkon looked flushed; so flushed as if he’d seen a ghost.
As the two friends were on their way to the “Board Room”(The board room is a  room where Zarkon had important meetings with his high ranking generals), everyone was running up and down the halls with flowers, table cloths, balloons, and other elegant party favors trying to place them in their necessary places. The inside of the Galra Palace already looked fabulous, but these gold and red decorations made the little details pop. It was customary that no later than 1 phobe after a proposal, the groom has to provide a “welcoming dinner” for the brides’ family and close friends. This was done so that the “strangers” could be quickly acquainted. This event happened up until a movement before the wedding. Galra weddings were slightly different than the ones on Earth. Both the groom and bride wear matching colors of red, black, and gold while the audience wore just purple, pink, or white. Instead of the bride having a veil, she wore a flower crown full of her planet’s most popular flower. This symbolized delicacy and trust. The groom also wore a flower crown full of red roses. The roses symbolized love and commitment. Instead of reading vows, they light three candles; each symbolizing hope, faith, and encouragement.  It could be said that the Galra valued relationships more than any species in the universe. Alfor had asked Zarkon over and over what was bothering him but he kept skurring around the question.
“Zarkon, you didn’t answer my question. What’s going on? Why is everyone running around like their heads are cut off?”
“Boy, you can’t just let it go, can you?”
“Well, you’re acting rather strange.”
“How?”
“Well for starters, you haven’t said anything to Blaytz about him asking the server for his fighting schedule.”
“I’ve never minded that.”
“You’re lying. Dare I ask? Why are you being so...nice?”
“What? I’ve always been nice!”
“No, you haven’t. You’re very stern.”
Alfor folded his arms and gave Zarkon the stare of slight intimidation. He wasn’t going anywhere until the tea was spilled.
“Very well. I’ll tell you.”
“I’m listening.”
“Don’t make a big deal about this but...I proposed to Honerva 3 movements (weeks)  ago.”
Alfor eyes widened and his mouth dropped nearly to the ground. His reaction was priceless! The King was rather surprised that his stern, follow-by-the-book friend had found love and that he was actually going to pursue marriage for love rather than seeking out a bride. You see, for several deca-phobes, each Emperor, Prince, and Princess would be matched with a partner to marry but Zarkon decided that he would no longer participate in that tradition. When he was a prince, his father tried to arrange for him to be married to a woman that attended the same military school as him. She was very nice and sweet, but he did not love her and she didn’t love him. Some Galra didn’t hesitate to tell  Zarkon about how disappointed they were once they found out that he was breaking tradition. It was more surprising that he was going to marry Honerva of all people. She was free-spirited in a way; not only did she enjoy learning and teaching others about science and the endless solutions it provided, but she also enjoyed her free time and did whatever she wanted. Zarkon on the other hand lives his life on a narrow path. He trained day and night and when he did have free time, he spent it hiding from Kova. Well, you know what they say...opposites attract.
“That’s wonderful news! I saw her yesterday. Why didn’t she say anything?”
“I told her to keep it a secret. I was planning on telling you all once you came over for dinner. I wasn’t expecting for you to stop by so early.”
“Well, cheer up! Marriage is a great thing! You’ve found your other half!”
“I’m aware of that I’m just...I don’t know...nervous…?”
Alfor laughed. Is this coming from the strong-willed Emperor Zarkon? No way.
“This is why I didn’t want to say anything.”
“Forgive me Zarkon.  You are one of the most powerful leaders in the known universe. What do you have to be nervous about?”
“I may be powerful, but a charmer? No. I’m not funny like her. She’s smart and beautiful but me? All I can do is lead the military and that’s it.”
“Obviously, there’s something that she likes about you. Whenever we met for our morning meetings for the last 12 phoebs (months), you were all she talked about! She said you had a sense of humor!”
“Huh?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Hey!”
“I’m just pulling your string, Zarkon. She said that your ability to lead shows how much you value the people around you and how you care about their safety and wellbeing. Don’t be so hard on yourself, my friend. Everything will be ok.”
“I hope so. Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure.”
Zarkon pointed to a room where he and Alfor entered and sat in two cherry red comfortable cushioned chairs.
“What’s going through your head?”
Zarkon sighed and wiped his face.
“How were you able to confess your love for Melenor in front of a crowd of people without tearing up?”
“I imagined that we were alone. If you tear up, that’s ok! It’s perfectly normal to cry. Just look into her eyes and speak from the heart.”
“I know...but--”
“I’m sure you did that when you proposed, didn’t you?”
“Yes. I have another question.”
“What is it?”
“How did you get through your...honeymoon?”
Alfor smiled and raised a brow. He was a genius by day and a freak by night.
“I can’t advise you about that. That’s something you and your wife will have to figure out.”
“How?”
“You’re overthinking it. Just wait for you two to be alone together in 5x5 room. Remember how you felt when you kissed her fo the first time? Multiply that by 10 million. Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.”
Zarkon sighed in relief. Talking to his best friend made him feel so much better and more confident. What’s better than putting that confidence to the test? The door flung open and there stood a woman dressed in a purple gown and a purple hat with a beautiful flower on it. This was Zarkon’s royal advisor; she was his public representative.
“Sir. Honerva is here,  awaiting your presence.”
“She’s here now? I told her--”
A heavenly sound came from behind this woman’s head. So quiet and elegant, I might add. Zarkon already knew who it was. He stood up straight and proceeded to the threshold of the door.
“May I come in?”
Her bright blue eyes were piercing through his soul. She smiled because she was finally going to have some alone time to talk about their future and any other arrangements.  Her Altean markings began to glow as she began to scratch Kova on his stomach. She knew Zarkon hated Kova, but this was her way to pick at him in the most loving way possible.
“Please, do.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ;)
And before anybody starts asking why Allura’s wedding dress is purple, well I have a theory:
-If you search for Zarkon and Honerva’s wedding you’ll see her dress is also purple. And many of the “bonding moments” through the show happenend in a scene with purple lightning, Keith and Lance, Hunk and Shay, Allura and Lotor. Therefore my theory is that in altean culture means “bonding” or “union”.
-And Shiro got his alteans marks because of another theory I developed thanks to @knightofacherus which is that maybe when alteans choose a companion for life they can leave a mark on them if they're not altean, and maybe when it's an altean those who have been "marked” can change the color their marks to prove their union. But you don’t need to take that theory too serious since Honerva didn’t mark Zarkon. I still like it though.

The Princess and the Pauper Voltron AU (Klance&Shallura)
I blame @genelpan for this AU because in her Insta story she reminded me that this movie exists. So making a shoutout to all my fellow Polish people who are still listening to the songs because “beeeedeee Twooooj gdy pooowiesz” you know what you know ;)
On the same day, in the same kingdom two little souls are born, both of them looking so alike they could be taken for twins. But each one of them is born in a different world...
Allura is the princess of Altean Kingdom, her father and her mother, Alfor and Eleanor are proud parents of a sublime little princess
Allura is given a cat when she becomes a teenager, a little puffy cat she named Elly after her mother's surname
At the same time, she is given a tutor Takashi Shirogane aka Shiro, a boy from the little town, who's five years older than she is
Both become friends pretty quickly thanks to their interest in science, they can spend whole days in the library reading about science.
Sometimes Shiro reads Allura some fairy tales, both of them are fond of these
They grow closer, and slowly, but surely, their feelings toward each other go from friendship to a soft love
But both of them know that they can't be together, so they repress their feelings
Allura because, when her mother passes away when she's thirteen, she has to marry a king/prince in order to guarantee a future to her kingdom and Shiro because he knows he has nothing to offer to Allura, who deserves the world and even more
Lance is born in the little town around their palace, in a poor family, but a loving one. He's an only child, his parents borrow money to raise him and to give him the best perspectives in life and Lance is genuinely interested in music and sewing so his mother teaches him songs and how to sew
His father is very proud of his son, he knows that the boy isn't a casual boy in town but he encourages him to be what he chooses to be
One day, Lance rescues a cat that he names Blue, and he loves Blue with all his heart
Lance's parents die because of a disease which causes a mortality rise in the little town, he is now an eleven years old boy who has debts to pay
Guess who takes advantage of this? Lotor's Dress Emporium from which Lance's parents borrowed money. He begins to work there, sewing dresses for the Court and the royal family, such as the Princess herself
When both turn eighteen...
The kingdom faces a crisis, and the only solution that King Alfro can come up with – because his advisor Honerva left on a trip – is to marry his daughter to the Blade's kingdom Prince
Allura isn't fond of this, at all, but she knows that she has to do it for her people so she accepts it, abandoning her love for Shiro thinking that her love isn't reciprocated
Shiro tries to cheer her up when he hears the news, telling that Prince Keith is a nice person who has a passion for art, music and knives
Which is kinda weird, Shiro said and made Allura laugh
But both regret that the will never be together...
“All my life I've always wanted to have one day just for me” -  Allura breaking into a musical number while trying her dress on because she will marry Prince Keith in a few days
She just wishes for some time on her own, just a moment among her books with Shiro, reading books, listening to Shiro's voice when he reads for her while sitting in a chair and looking how his expression changes everytime he imitates another character
She wants to marry him so badly, but it's her duty to save the kingdom, and her father is sorry about it...
“All my life I've always wanted to have one day for myself” - Lance while taking one pile of fabric to another place in Lotor's Dress Emporium
Well, even if his friend, Romelle enjoys the show, Lotor seems not so fond of it
And Lance learns that he has to work there for another 37 years, because “interests” and Lance protests
“They did it to feed me!” “Their mistake”
And Lance just loses it all, and goes fuck it all I'm going to sing in the streets tomorrow early in the morning because I deserve it and because it's his only escape
Romelle doesn't encourage him, but she offers to cover him for sure and Lance thanks her with a kiss on her cheek
And both Lance and Allura swear to themselves that they will once be free to do whatever they want to
Guess who's missing in this beautiful picture? Honerva, Alfor's advisor. And well, even if she seems to be a good little lady she's the devil in disguise wanting to own the kingdom: she is behind the kingdom's crisis and she wants to become the Empress of the Kingdom, by marrying Alfor and then killing him. But to do so, she has to kidnap his daughter, Allura, so she won't be able to marry this king of the Blades and she'll be the only option for Alfor. Her plan was perfect
On the next day, Prince Keith in disguise – because he loves disguising himself okay, it's what's called FUN – with the Blade's kingdom Ambassador, Kolivan, arrive to the palace
And Kolivan isn't sure about Keith in disguise because it's absolutely ridiculous but Keith insists and Kolivan can only sigh
“What a stubborn child, just like his mother the Queen...” - Kolivan, dealing with royal shit since birth
When the ambassador arrives, Shiro comes into Allura's room and greets her with a “Her Majesty” and Allura is surprised because they are friends “Shiro... We are friends, I am Allura to you” “Her Majesty's father sends me to tell you that the ambassador from the Blade's kingdom just arrived” “Oh Shiro...” “Her Majesty can follow me?”
And it breaks Allura's heart because when Shiro's that formal, it means nothing good
The last time he used that voice was when her mother died
And Shiro knew that this voice never brought joy, but it always pained him to lie to Allura, to pain her with lies
“Shiro... Can we... Stay here? Tell my father that I am not feeling well, that I am terribly sorry to not be able to greet the ambassador but... I just can't Shiro, it pains so much...” “I will Allura, don't worry...”
And he resists the urge to hug her
Meanwhile, a clueless Keith hands his gift to King Alfor telling it's for his daughter from Pirnce Keith
Honerva is here, and already having a plan to kidnap the Princess...
Allura stays at the balcony, looking at the little girls playing in the royal garden, at least they are free...
Shiro has suddenly a marvellous idea: to take Allura in the little town around the city to entertain her for a moment, to entertain himself, to have one of his lasts moments with her
And once she wears a cape, nobody notices she's the princess anymore: she feels like a civilian
She also feels the pain of the crisis looking at the houses, as Shiro shows her his old little apartment when he used to study: she is now sure that she can't allow herself to have feelings for somebody because her people are suffering
Shiro offers her a juniper, her favourite flower ever and she smiles and Shiro can't forget that genuine smile
Then, she hears a clear and beautiful voice; Shiro is away seeking for something to eat so she approaches the singer
Lance is singing one of the songs his mother taught him, gathering some money for himself when Lotor bursts into the crowd, stops his performance and gather the coins before telling him to come back to work
Lance is dying inside, he is trapped in this reality that gives him a headache but when he is about to take the empty cup that Lotor left behind him, Allura's hand puts in a coin
“That was really beautiful” “Thanks, my mom used to sing me this so...”
And they both of them realise, they look absolutely alike, just like twins
“Oh my... What's your name?” “My name is Allura” “No jokes just like the Princess?!” “Yes, it is right...” “Oh! The name's Lance her royal Highness. What... What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to marry?” “I am taking my first and last breath of freedom before becoming a wife... A wife of an unknown man...” “Yeah, at least you're not an indentured servant” “A what?”
Lance breaks into a musical number explaining how he's living inside his dreams because well, it's way easier to live in his dreams than in this crappy reality
Allura assumes he's a singer – and  she always wanted to meet one! – but it turns out that he's working at Lotor's Dress Emporium and that he made the dress she's wearing right now
He's absolutely proud about the fact that it's the Princess' favourite dress ever, he thanks his mom for that
Allura speaks about her marriage, and how she doesn't want to marry but she has to to save her people, people like Lance from the crisis
“I'm just like you! You're just like me! There's somewhere else we'd rather be!” Lance, jumping into the occasion to sing another time about what he feels
And both Allura and Lance come to the conclusion that they are a lot more alike than they thought in the first place
Then Shiro arrives, in shock, we must admit, because he drops the food he has in his hands – this boy is a disaster I swear – because okay, he knows Princess Allura but THIS GUY definitely looks like her!
Allura promises to Lance that she will send somebody to make him sing at her wedding, and Lance is over the moon when he hears that
Lance comes back and tells everything to Romelle, who is just smiling at Lance's imagination but still listening religiously
During the night, Honerva and her servants kidnap the Princess in order to cancel the wedding and they pretty much arrive to take the Princess into an isolated cabin in the woods
On the next day, Honverva announces to the King that Allura ran off, Kolivan is furious, Keith is somehow sad about it, and Kolivan tells that if the Princess isn't found until tonight the marriage proposal is over, finito
When Shiro hears the news he's sure about one thing: Allura couldn't do such a thing, she didn't ran off and the letter she left wasn't perfumed with junipers but some kind of roses and that wasn't Allura at all
He offered to help to find her, but Honerva laughed him off telling that he could hurt himself or catch a sun stroke while being outside
Shiro wasn't that stupid, and knew that something was going on with Honerva
So, he searches for Lance at Lotor's Dress Emporium
And Lance is just so excited about singing at the wedding, but when he learns the true reason behind Shiro's visit he decides to help Allura because they're alike
There is only one, tiny, little, problem: even with a wig, Lance can't act properly like a Princess and this is where tenor Shiro begins his own musical number
“To be a Princess is to know which spoon to use” - Shiro, while Lance is having a panic attack in front of the five spoons next to the plate
He finally wears one of Allura's dresses, the one Romelle made for her, the blue one, and he begins to feel it with the wig and all
And somehow, Shiro confesses through riddles that he's in love with Allura and Lance now knows that both of them are in love
When Honerva is almost touching her dream of becoming Empress, Shiro steps in the room introducing “Princess Allura”
Lance enters, trips, falls down in front of Keith in disguise and goes to see King Alfor who's absolutely happy to see his daughter safe and sound
Lance hugs the King, apologizing at telling that he, or rather she will never do this again
Kolivan is still pissed and tells that Prince Keith shouldn't marry the Princess and Keith is all “HUM HUM HUM!” “Finally, I think that the Prince will till be fine with marrying Princess Allura”
And Lance freaks out because he has to meet the Prince on the next day
Meanwhile, Elly finds Allura and the cat helps her to escape while she scares the guards with the cat using it as a distraction before kicking some asses before running off to the palace
Just after that, Shiro finds out that Honerva is talking about a cabin in the woods to one of the guards and he follows her
Honerva is FU-RI-OUS when she sees the guards that let the Princess escape, but more importantly she is asking herself why she never told nobody that she was kidnapped in the first place
She sees Shiro through a mirror, she knows that he heard her little speech
Oh boy, Shiro is losing his mind when he faces Honerva “You want to become an Empress?”
Boum, Shiro is hit by a guard with a stick and lays unconscious on the ground
Honerva has to hide him in the mines nearby
Allura however, with Elly, is going to the palace but nobody wants to let her in because “You're faking that you're the Princess girl! Listen, I don't know how you heard about the Princess disappearance but go away!”
So, the only place Allura knows is the  Lotor's Dress Emporium and Lance, so there she heads
But Lotor catches her mid-way, laughing at her
“What do you find so funny Lotor?” “For you, it's Sir Lotor! Your parents never taught you manners? You'll follow me you ingrate!”
And he grabs Allura by her hand and she's shocked because wow, it's harsh coming from a boss
When inside the shop, she reveals that she's the Princess but Lotor laughs even loudly, and Romelle is curious about what is happening so she goes out
“You? Princess Allura? Don't try to fool me with your wig Lance!” “Lance...?” “You were gone for the whole day, you should be happy that Romelle managed to do some of your work! Now, go to work and don't sleep until you finish this!” “If you treat your employees like that all the Court's orders will be given to someone else!” “You are threatening me? You? Who do you think you are?!”
And he locks Allura and Romelle in
Allura is absolutely shocked, and Romelle curious about Lance wearing a wig...
“Lance, what are you doing with a wig...?” “I truly am Princess Allura, and what is your name my dear?” “You really are... This is the dress that Lance did for you oh my... My name is Romelle your Highness”
And Allura softly smiles at her, asking her how she can help her in the atelier because Romelle won't do all the job by herself
Elly watches both of them sewing, and then Romelle tells Allura that Elly could sneak out because Blue does it every time and she could deliver the message to her father about her being here
Allura puts a tag form Lotor's shop into her ring and puts it around Elly's neck
Elly is on a mission now, mission home
The next morning, when Lance wakes up he's struck by the fact that somebody brings him his breakfast to bed and A HUGE BREAKFAST OMG
He wants to share with the maid, because he will never eat all of that plus it could feed a huge amount of people
Beginning with Blue who catches some ham on the plate
And then, the servant prepares a bath for the Princess, aka Lance
When Lance sees all these bubbles he just wants to cry because holly shit it's so perfect and Blue is running all around the bathtub
Lance dives into it, having a foam of bubbles all over his head, he made himself a moustache and a beard
Blue began to act strangely, being all petty and strange and Lance noticed it: Blue wanted to seem royal and that made Lance softly laugh
“I can see it when you're feeling low you can't hide that from me” - Lance beginning to sing while Blue walks on the edge of the bathtub
Lance sings for Blue, because Blue is all family that is left to him and he loves this cat so much that he could die for his girl
He reassures her telling her that she's the best cat ever and that she shouldn't try to be someone else – unlike him – because Blue is the best cat
Let's expose Keith who is listening at the door because he's searching for the Princess and he hears Lance's sublime voice and he falls in love totally head over heels
Keith is explaining the whole situation in the throne room to king Alfor, he tells him that he used this particular method to get to know the Princess in a less official way
This is Honerva that brings Lance to the throne room, and Lance is panicked because Shiro disappeared last night and he was clueless about everything and anything
But he planned to do his best until the Princess came back
When Lance meets the Prince right after he recognizes the guy standing next to the ambassador and is absolutely flustering because HOLLY SHIT THE PRINCE IS HOT
“I feel honoured, Princess” “Uh... Euh... I am honoured to meet you, my Prince” says Lance while curtsying in front of the Prince “Please, call me Keith” “And call me La... Allura, Princess Allura, of course it's my name...”
“I am deeply sorry that I came to meet you in disguise Princess, I hope that I did not offend your feelings. I just wanted to meet the real you” - Keith, soft, bowing in front of the Princess again, with a soft look that makes Lance melt in an instant
Alfor just stops this awkward moment – and Lance thanks him so much – by asking if the Prince wants to play the piano, because yes the Prince is fond of every sort of arts
Lance is in awe, the guy is hot, seems funny – who in the world would disguise himself to see his future wife? Only him – and above all he plays an instrument: if he wasn't Allura he would absolutely be melting
Keith agrees only if Allura, aka Lance, sings with him
And this breaks into another musical number with Keith playing the piano and Lance singing
“You say your love is true and I hope that it will be” - Lance, secretly hoping that this cute Prince won't reject him if he learns that Lance is Lance, and not Allura
“I'd be sure, if I knew that you loved me for me” - Keith, playing softly on the piano while looking at Lance's beautiful blue eyes
The are walking into the gardens, Keith softly trying to catch Lance's hand while Lance is a whole blushing mess because the Prince is trying to hold his hand and his hand is so soft and Keith smells actually very good and his eyes are purple and beautiful and Lance can't handle all of this
While they're walking, Keith notices a bunch of forget-me-nots in the garden, and gives a bunch of them to Lance who scents them and softly blushes
“So, you like singing I guess” “ Yes, I always loved to sing, this is something that keeps me somehow alive in my cage in fact...” “You feel trapped?” “Yes I always did, this is so hard to be paying... To pay the price of being a Princess by being kept in a palace” “I absolutely understand you, I always wanted to see other countries but my Mother always forbid me to do so because she was afraid that I would get injured or even dead” “I can't believe that you would someone kill you Keith!” “I could only let you kill me with your beautiful eyes, Allura”
And Lance loses it all actually
When they part ways in the evening, Keith kisses Lance's hand telling him that they will see each other in the evening, just before their tomorrow's wedding
And Lance feels his heart beating faster and faster, but at the same time a pain catches him: he is lying to the Prince, and he's taking Allura's place but the problem is that he is slowly falling for this adorable Prince who has a passion for knives and makes the best compliments ever
Honerva isn't amused at all by all of this because she doesn't understand what happens at all in here
But she's absolutely thrilled when she finds Elly in the gardens at night, with Allura's ring around her neck and so she understands: the Allura in the palace isn't the real Allura
She goes to Lotor's Dress Emporium and finds the real Princess and kidnaps her again, leaving the poor Romelle searching for the Princess in the shop
Honerva takes Allura to the mines, and throws her into the same cell that Shiro is telling her how she will marry her father and become the Empress after killing him
Her guards close the mines, dynamiting the entrances, and leave Allura with Shiro
Shiro is tied up to a wooden stick in the cell and he hugs Allura when he sees her because she seems to be alright, even if they are in a delicate situation
He explains to her his whole plan, with Lance being the Princess right now
They both know that they can't find a way out, but Shiro tries to break the rocks with a pickaxe in order to get out
Allura finds a rare gem hidden inside a basic rock and calls Shiro to sit next to her
“I am unable to get us out of here, I am sorry Allura...” “Shiro, do you know why I wanted to refuse the marriage with Prince Keith?” “You do not feel ready to marry a man” No, not because of that. Because I am already in love with someone else, with my friend, with the one who was always by my side when I needed him, the one that I trust the most, the one that taught me everything” “But... Allura... I am nothing like a King, I can not offer you dresses, jewels and...” “To me, you are like this rock Shiro” “Ugly and basic?” “Shiro... On the outside, this rock looks like a basic rock, but in fact there is a treasure inside. By your rank, you are like this rock Shiro, and I will do anything to be by your side now” “But, the people...” “I know what to do Shiro, just trust me”
And he hugs her, because this was the purest act of love, the most beautiful confession in the world: even better than the ones that he planned for her, the ones that he read to her
Meanwhile, Keith is proposing to Lance in front of the King, and Lance can't really handle this because it's too pure for him, because he genuinely fell in love with Keith
Keith, on the other hand, is really fond of Lance's personality and his beautiful eyes
Honevra is back in the palace and uncovers Lance's disguise by taking off his wig in front of the King and Keith in the throne room
She explains that it was Shiro's plan, that he wanted to kill the Princess and gain power and that they made the mines nearby explode and they only could find Allura's ring
Lance is actually taken by her guards, yelling that he wanted to protect Allura from Honerva and that he did nothing, he yelled with his whole heart that what he told Keith was true and that he really loved him
Anyway, he was thrown into the palace's prison
Lance cries his eyes out during the night, trying to sing but failing miserably to
Kolivan wants to KILL EVERYBODY IN THIS KINGDOM because they wanted to marry the Prince with a poor guy, not even a real Princess and that is unacceptable!
Keith is however really intrigued by what just happened: the boy, Lance, didn't seem to be lying to him, he couldn't fake all these blushes and... This Honerva who was watching them during this walk...
He decided to stay in the kingdom, just for another night
King Alfor is dead inside, he is losing his kingdom and now he lost his daughter, as his wife, forever, he wanted to die but at the same time knew that the kingdom needed him
Honerva, on the other hand, proposes to king Alfor to marry her because thanks to her travel she learned that her activities were making a huge profit, a profit of a Prince Keith, and that she could solve the crisis by marrying him
Bonus, there is already a marriage planned so
Alfor is unable to refuse this offer, Eleanor would've wanted this for her people
On the next day, after a rough night, Allura and Shiro managed to find a way out: there is a huge hole in the ground above them and that there is some water flowing here and actually they could get out of here by entering one of these wooden boxes and go to stop Honerva from marrying Allura's father
Lance is determined to not die in this prison, absolutely not so he steals the keys from one of the sleeping guards and sneaks out, before being caught by another guard taking him out of the prison, King's orders
Lance is pissed, absolutely pissed, and wants to escape so he hits the guard in the balls and then, he hears a familiar voice
“I agree, I deserved this...” “... Keith?! I will explain you everything, I swear I am not...” “I do not believe this Honerva at all, I know that you could not lie to me, A... Lance” “Yes... You do like to be in disguise, do you Keith?” “That's not the real problem here, Lance. We have no time, follow me please”
The two couples are running to the wedding, while Alfor almost married Honerva
But Allura arrives in time, with Shiro, telling her father that Honerva tries to trick him
Honerva swears that it's the boy, but Elly appears next to Allura, Elly that wasn't seen around for a long time and Allura approaches her father telling him that her mother gave her once a ring, a pink worthless ring and that she wears it around her neck and showed it to him
And Alfor knew that it was Allura
Allura tells them that Honerva tried to kill her and Shiro in order to become the Empress of this kingdom
Honerva is RUNNING away, but Shiro and Keith catch her together before handing her to the guards
Lance is in the back, smiling because it's what that awful witch deserved
Once every guest came back home, Allura had a moment to talk with her father, Lance, Shiro and Keith were taken care of by some servants
“Father, nothing happened to me thanks to my friend Lance and to the one I love, Takashi” “I deeply want you to be happy, it is my dearest wish, but Allura, you know, for the kingdom...” “Do not worry Father, in the mines where I was, I made a discovery, a gem worth more than the gold we lack, our kingdom is not in crisis anymore”
And this solves somehow the crisis problem
On the next day, when Allura paid all of Lance's debts, Lance is ready to go and discover the world, to sing, to be himself and what he always wanted to be: free
Keith stands next to Lance's horse, with a small box in his hand
“Are you sure that you want to go, Lance?” Yes, I am. This is what I was talking about, to be free from my misery, to be able to go wherever I want to... To not be trapped anymore” “Will you come back?” “I can't promise Keith...” “So please, take this with you”
Keith hands Lance the little box with the engagement ring, telling him it was meant to be for him, because, whoever he is, he loves him and deeply wishes to marry him one day
Lance is touched, so touched and accepts the gift, telling him that he is happy to know that he has a place to come back to
Lotor's Dress Emporium is ruined, Allura makes everything to sink this sick man's business and allows Romelle to open her own little shop from where she will buy her dresses
A few years later, Lance comes back to Altea but before he goes to see Keith in the Blade's kingdom
Keith is absolutely astonished, seeing Lance coming back and when Lance notices him he runs towards him before hugging him
“I missed you so much Keith, the world is beautiful but nothing is as beautiful as you Keith!” “I love you too Lance”
And they kiss, Lance in Keith's arms deeply in love
Lance meets Keith's parents, the King and the Queen who find the boy lovely and, well, now they know that it's acceptable to let their son marry whoever he wants to because they spoke with Alfor for a long moment
Shiro and Allura, being the perfect royal couple offer to the two lovers to make a double marriage
Lance is thrilled because he is marrying with a Prince, during the same ceremony that Allura, the Princess of his kingdom and his friend now
Romelle gives everything she has in doing Lance's outfit, because her best friend will marry a Prince and if this isn't a fairy tale she doesn't know what it is
And this is the purest marriage that the two kingdoms have ever seen, Shiro and Allura are the cutest couple on Earth and Lance and Keith are the perfect lovebirds
They had a happy ever after after all...
          Bonus:
Shiro and Allura had a daughter that they called Marina Eleanor, with white hair and beautiful cat shaped blue eyes: a pure candy, a girl with a beautiful smile and a great personality
She often could be found in the library, with books around her little dress while looking at the images as somebody was reading a story to her
Or hiding in the garden, between junipers and forget-me-nots
Lance and Keith adopted a boy named Julian, an orphan from the Blade's kingdom that Lance found once on one of his escapes from the palace and the little boy followed him during the whole day, and Lance having a big heart and being undercover bought him some food, took care of him and asked him where his parents were, and when he learnt that his parents were dead he adopted him, instantaneously: law
Keith loved the little boy so much, he was so lively and so funny and loved to play the violin so Lance made this tradition that every Friday the three of them were having a music session, with Keith playing the piano, Julian playing the violin and Lance singing

If that poster picture you posted is really young Sendak: imagine your blade Shiro meeting young Sendak. How would young Sendak view his future mate?
I’m sorry. I know this took forever, and it’s not even what you asked. I had a few false starts, and - well, I came up with this. Sendak asks Shiro to marry him in front of his mom, Honerva, and stepdad, Zarkon.
…cuz…that’s my jam this month, apparently.
Hope this is all right. Thanks for your kindness!
Shiro dressed the part of a prince, wearing the maroon and yellow robes of Galran royalty. After more than fifteen years living on Daibazaal as his mother studied the Rift, Shiro embraced his place in his stepfather’s court and stood on the throne platform of the Great Hall as the emperor and empress welcome members of the empire and the leaders of the nearby planets.
They all came to pay their respects to Honerva and Zarkon after the announcement of their second child. No gifts were presented. Instead, Honerva and Zarkon welcomed everyone to a feast and held similar events on every planet of the Galran Empire.
Shiro already understood his role in the empire. Where his younger sibling would one time rule as emperor, Shiro would take his father’s lion and lead a new set of paladins. Until then, he would serve at his father and mother’s side, provide aid to planets who needed it, and fight as part of the emperor’s forces.
“My liege, my queen.”
Shiro blinked at the commander on one knee, head bowed, hand to his chest.
Sendak was dressed in his usual red warrior garb but minus his helmet. Shiro particularly liked the helmet, how it framed Sendak’s large fluffy ears, and maybe he’d ask Sendak to put it on later when they sparred.
Zarkon stepped down the few stairs to hold out a hand to Sendak. “My commander, stand. There is no need for you to –”
“My liege, I am not on my knee for you but your son. I have come before you and the queen, to ask the prince for the gift of his favor for all eternity.”
Silence overtook the throne room, heralded by the clanging of a fork against a plate. Shiro looked between the hopeful look on Sendak’s face as he looked up Shiro, then to Zarkon, and Honerva. After the initial shock, Honerva’s face smoothed with a gentle, encouraging smile, but Zarkon contorted into a righteous scowl.
“You dare ask for my eldest child’s bonding without preparing a proper offering?”
Zarkon was not anything if not wallowed in tradition.
Sendak looked positively horrified, eyes wide, mouth slightly open.
Sighing, Shiro reached under his black cloak and around his back to free the makeshift crest, a carved rock out of a Balmeran crystal in the style of Zarkon’s army, the insignia of a commander specifically.
“Father, Mother, I presented this to Commander Sendak of the Galran Royal Guard two full feebs ago. I believe you will find the crystal to represent Altea, my first planet, and the carving to represent Daibazaal, from where Sendak originates. Together, as commanders in your army, we hope to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, and to fight for each other until our time is no more.”
Zarkon looked between Sendak and Shiro, then back to Sendak, roaring, “He asked you two feebs ago, and you had yet to say yes! My son you made wait until you came before us now?”
Sendak actually agreed the moment after Shiro asked, but getting Sendak to agree to tell Zarkon and Honerva took the extra time. If there was one thing in the universe Sendak feared more than death, it was disappointing Zarkon.
A hand slipped into Zarkon’s and squeezed. Honerva then reached out to Shiro, her hand cradling his cheek. “You have our blessing, my son. We wish you both well.”
Zarkon looked to Sendak, then back at Honerva. With a huff, he snatched Sendak by the collar and hauled him to his feet. “I suppose if my son wishes to have you, I cannot say no.”
Shiro barely contained his smile as he took Sendak’s hand. “Thank you, Mother, Father. We will make you proud.”
Honerva nodded to herself. “A wedding at the end of Harvest Season. Yes, by then your brother will be here, and we will welcome everyone to the feast.”
“But Mother, I am not the – ”
“Everyone,” Zarkon agreed, a growl deepening his tone. “This will be a royal wedding. The entire empire will rejoice that you have found a mate you deem worthy.”
“Yes - no wait. That’s not – Sen, say something!” Shiro tugged on their hands, but Sendak looked like a deer in headlights. “Uhhh…your brother can be our ring bearer?”
He offered a tiny, hopeful smile.
Shiro rolled his eyes. “You are no help.”
The music restarted as if by some invisible cue from Honerva. Somehow, Sendak gained the courage to slide his hand from Shiro’s arm to the small of his back. “May I have this dance, my prince?”
Honerva clapped happily, while Zarkon let out a rumbling sigh. As Shiro and Sendak descended the stairs, Shiro muttered under his breath, “You better not call me that in bed.”
“Why not? I don’t mind taking orders from - ”
“Shiro!”
Shiro turned on the final stair and blinked up at Zarkon’s looming figure. “Yes, Father?”
Zarkon’s face still wore his uneasy expression, but then he straightened his shoulders and looked at his son and his closest commander.
“There is no stronger bond than love.” He took each’s hand and placed one in the other. “Take care of each other, as I know you will, and - ” He leaned forward to whisper, “Do give your mother the Harvest Season wedding. She has been rooting for you two for years.”
Sendak squeezed his hand, and Shiro sighed. “Fine. Fine, but we get to choose our first dance.”
Shiro winked at Sendak, who held his hand for one more long moment, and then they broke. Sendak grabbed freed his sword, while Shiro took dual swords from behind his back.
The crowd parted on the dance floor. Shiro smiled a challenging grin; Sendak returned it.
And they danced.

alright i’m barely even coherent enough to type down my thoughts after 5 hours of sleep and an episode of hyperventilating and sobbing but let’s fucking do this
let’s start with this: this is the canon ending we have. you can choose to love it, hate it or be neutral. just respect other’s opinions on it and don’t harass anyone. and please know that the team behind voltron worked hours, weeks, months, to years on this show.
now let’s get down to business to defeat the huns
i’m sure lance, allura and allurance stans can agree they both deserved better. now allurance may not have been my ideal endgame (if you can call it that), but it was still cute. i saw it coming, we all kinda did. lance has grown and matured enough as a person, and allura saw that at least. so i am pleased with what we got with them. the date, the kiss, the cuddling and lance’s genuine care and worry for allura really made me like what they had while it lasted.
also rip to any other shippers out there, especially to the plance and sheith shippers out there, as a plance and sheith shipper myself i mourn with you. but remember, not everything has to be canon in order for you to love it.
now i think we should really get to business.
allura deserved so much better. she was someone who had thing taken from her: her family, her planet, her entire race, her crown and finally her own life. and she accepted that. which is unfair beyond belief, she deserves to be happy with the rest of the paladins. but after bingeing the past seasons, there were many times where allura would attempt to do things for the greater good, even if it cost her life. it felt obvious in the end. does that mean i agree with it? no. does that mean i didn’t bawl at 8am? absolutely not. i may be brain dead at the moment, but i can’t think of another way to restore every reality imaginable, to let other characters live. in the end she was able to bring life back to destroyed planets, at the cost of her own.
each goodbye she said to the paladins ripped my heart out, what hurts me most that she couldn’t say one to coran, her second father. the man who helped raised her didn’t even get to say goodbye.
now my theory about lance becoming altean(?) is that it was obviously a gift to him, to remember her bye. does that mean he has altean powers now? idk. we don’t get an explanation other than his marking glow when the voltron lions fly off. i’ve seen someone say it could be a soulmate mark and it glows when allura’s presence is near?? i like that idea
also what was with the lions?? why did they fly off? did they pick up some energy and that’s why they were flying towards the shape of allura in space? or were they flying away because they were no longer needed to protect the universe?? or it was used as a dramatic effect to send off the series. i really hope to get some answers
ok but it all honestly, for voltron to have a m/m kiss is pretty big. i’m happy shiro found true happiness, but i’m obviously disappointed it wasn’t keith, aka, his best friend, the man who was literally the closest person to him. i mean curtis is okay, he cute i guess. but he’s literally some random dude that shiro knew only for a year, and we didn’t see that development besides curtis cheering him on at the arm wrestling competition and then boom! wedding. keith knew him for years, and you can’t just forget about their relationship like that.
i’m pleased to know for sure lotor was severely misguided, and his true intention was to help people. but the years of abuse finally made him snap, and he suffered. he looked happy to see his mother, and his real father on the other side. also let’s mention that lotor’s corpse was still inside the sincline and it was decomposing YIKES. AND MY THEORY ABOUT THE CORRUPTED QUINTESSENCE IN HIS VEINS WAS RIGHT I CAN BE HAPPY ABOUT THAT AT LEAST!
alright now for some stuff that hasn’t really been talked about
let me gush about pidge and the holts in general because it’s mandatory. pidge was willing to give up a super rare video game to dress allura up, and to make lance happy. SHE WAS HEARTBROKEN BY THE DESTRUCTION OF OLKARION, SHE APPRECIATED WHAT RYNER TAUGHT HER SO MUCH!!! SHE COULD SE THROUGH TIME YO!! pidge moved on from her glasses.. giving them to her robot chip to show that her character arc is finally done, how much she’s grown. god THAT SHIT HURTED. colleen and pidge are literally me and my own mother and i love them. matt with a pony tail is amazing, and short hair matt ain’t half bad yo. sam holt still continues to be a legend
HUNK GOT THE BEST OF THIS SEASON LET’S BE REAL. HE WAS AN ICON THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE THING
og paladins?? zarkon realizing what he did?? holy shit
there was like... nothing of keith and shiro. so rip sheith again
kosmo got REALLY FUCKING BIG
and once again, allura deserved all the happiness in the world
(12/15) EDIT
i got some more stuff
again, allura deserved better and didn’t even need to die. yeah, with her gaining access to oriande and saying “i need to learn the secrets of life. i give my own.” was a hint to her death. even if we got the open ambiguous ending with shiro and keith, allura would’ve died anyway. i feel that was inevitable with all the build up with her attempted sacrifices before. but what doesn’t make sense about it and why it wasn’t needed, is that honerva also gained access to oriande, she would’ve learned just as much as allura. so allura dying with honerva is unnecessary. honerva could’ve just died alone to bring back every reality without allura. it could’ve been avoidable, so yeah it’s unfair.
also i fully believe lance ain’t altean, the marks are just a reminder of allura. it’s practically a scar for him to remember her, and they glow when her presence is around. i feel he won’t be able to fully move on from that, and it’s just cruel to have him emotionally suffer like that. tbh i also don’t think it’s wrong for lance to be a farmer, he already knew how to milk a cow so? i guess some of his family were involved with a farm in the first place idk.
the very final image with allura space i think is the reference to the cosmic dust, and how they are all connected in a way. still don’t know why the lions left their paladins on altea just to fly into space but go off i guess
pidge gave up her own happiness for allurance’s, pidge really out there supporting allurance. also i will always believe pidge had a crush on lance and swallowed it down in order to make someone else happy and that’s that. rip plance but it’s still in my heart
also bi veronica and lesbian acxa own my soul thanks
ryan kinkade?? a true director, everyone loves him.
i hope hunay may have gotten together post canon so i have that but rip team punk but i always saw them more as a brotp
like sheith was literally forgotten about... all of what they meant to each other just disappeared and it was bs. i could go on but i don’t wanna get more upset.
in conclusion: sheith and allurance deserved better, allura deserved better in general, so did lance, basically everyone deserved better in this season. many writers left after s6 because they didn’t agree with what dreamworks wanted to do with the show and that’s why it’s so messy. the staff had their hands tied. thanks for coming to my ted talk.
so. wow that’s it huh? that’s the last premiere of voltron i can rant about. well, it’s been one hell of a ride, folks.

The Wedding
In celebration of breaking 1000 followers, we decided to treat you all to a glimpse of the future. As AdminRue said we are in awe and humbled so many of you want to keep up with this AU. We hope you continue to enjoy following us and look forward to continuing to grow this AU.
The Wedding
Various shuttles arrived at the lake in the forest. A platform was floating in the lake but connected to the shore. On the platform was seating as well as the altar.
Guests from all backgrounds stepped out of the shuttles and were lead to their seats.
King Alfor and Coran went to greet the rulers of Daibazaal and their son.
“Zarkon, Honerva, Lotor,” King Alfor greeted. “Thank you so much for coming.”
“We are pleased to be invited,” Zarkon replied. “Though I am surprised the wedding would be here and not at the capital.”
“That was at the request of the bride and groom,” Alfor replied. “They wanted it held here so two of their close friends could be present. Speaking of which here comes one now.”
A large creature rose out of the lake.
“What is that?” Zarkon demanded.
“That is the Gombash,” Coran explained. “Don’t worry, he’s a peaceful creature. Unless of course he senses you having malicious intent in which case he will kill you where you stand.”
Zarkon looked at the Gombash with fear and uncertainty until Honerva gave him a reassuring pat on the arm.
“It’s fine dear.”
The three went to their seats. Lotor suddenly felt a light tugging on his hair. As he turned he saw a small Altean girl.
“Hi I’m Nadia,” The girl said brightly.
“Prince Lotor, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Lotor replied.
“You have really nice hair.”
“Thank you.”
“Can I braid it for you?”
“Er….”
Lotor was thankfully spared having to give an answer when the Nadia was called back by her mother.
“Nadia! Get back here!”
“Ok, bye Prince Lotor.”
As the girl left Honerva commented. “I think you’d look good with a braid.”
Lotor could only give his mother a half-hearted glare.
Keith and Krolia sat nearby seat watching the everything going on.
“Thank you for bringing me along,” Krolia said to her son.
“The invitation allowed for a plus one,” Keith answered. “There’s no one else I’d want to bring.”
“True,” Krolia developed a sly grin. “Though you know, it might have been a good opportunity to bring a date.”
“Mom!”
“Just saying.”
As Alfor was at the Altar going over the notes of the ceremony Blaytz approached and gave the king a hearty pat on the back.
“Today’s the big day, and to think you’re now well on your way to having grandkids.”
“Blaytz, it’s my niece, not my daughter, getting married today.”
“Oh,” Blaytz replied. He then gave Alfor another hard pat on the back. “Well that means you’re well on your way to having grand nephews and nieces.”
“Indeed.”
In a nearby tent Lance was putting the final touches to his outfit. It was a suit of armour but far more impressive than his normal attire. Not only was it more intricately made and bore his family crest and the metal was gleaming. He attached his clock and gave himself a final look over as Hunk let out a whistle of approval.
“Not gonna lie buddy,” He said. “You’ve never looked better.”
“Come on Hunk, you know I look good in anything.”
“Really? How about that time you lost that bet and had to wear that Snargle herder outfit?”
“Alright,” Lance conceded. “I look good in most things.”
“Though Hunk’s not wrong little brother,” Luis said. “You’ve never looked better.”
Lance smiled as the men present nodded in agreement. It was no surprise that Hunk was chosen to be best man. Filling out the ranks of Groomsmen were his two brothers Luis and Marco as well as Matt.
“Alright you’re ready,” Hunk declare. “Now before go out there I want you to remember three things. I love you, I’m proud of you and if you screw this up I’ll never forgive.”
“Love you too,” Lance replied as they gave each other a hug.
“I hope I’m not interrupting.” Everyone turned and saw Shiro enter the tent. “Just wanted to make sure you were almost ready. We’re starting soon.”
“Shiro!” Lance exclaimed. “How do I look?”
“Really good. Though there is one thing missing.”
“Really? What?”
“This.” Shiro pulled out a small box. He opened it to reveal a medal.
“Is that…?”
“Lance McClain, You have served Altea and the Crown diligently and nobly. You have upheld the principles this world is found on and are an example for others to aspire to. As your Captain I could not be prouder. In recognition of your continued service and valor, It is my honour to present you with the Star of Mefral.”
Lance was dumbfounded as Shiro pinned the medal on to the breastplate of his armour.
“There will be a formal ceremony for it later on but I thought it would only be right that you get to wear it on your wedding day.”
“Wow, Shiro this is amazing, thank you,” Lance stated. “Though is it wrong to say this is only the second best thing to be happening to me today.”
Shiro smirked as he gave Lance a pat on the shoulder. “There’d be something wrong with you if that wasn’t your response. Now all of you finish up. The last thing we want is to make this man late for his own wedding.
Once they all were prepared they stepped out and headed to the altar. As Lance walked up aisle he got various hugs and handshakes (in the case of Blaytz a high five) from the people he walked passed. He lingered with his parents, hugging them tightly as they told him how proud they were.
As he made it to the Altar, he turned his attention towards the Gombash.
“Gommy! I’m glad you could make it.”
Gommy trilled happily as he leaned in to briefly nuzzle Lance.
“Alright then,” Lance declared. “Razzle Dazzle Time!”
[hr]
The under the shade of the Father Tree, the female party was set up in a tent doing the final preparations.
“There, finished,” Veronica stated as she put down the makeup brush. “Take a look.”
Pidge stood and looked at herself in the mirror. She wore an elegant flowing emerald dress. Atop her head was a tiara more detailed than her usual one.
“You look amazing,” Allura commented.
“She had better,” Veronica stated. “Lance would never let me hear the end of it if I got the makeup wrong.”
For the bridal party Allura was Maid of honour with the positions of bridesmaids going her cousin Mia as well as Lances sisters Veronica and Rachel. Pidge’s mother and father entered the tent.
“Pidge you look amazing,” Samuel stated.
“Thanks Dad.” Pidge replied.
“How do you feel?” Colleen asked.
“Good,” Pidge replied, when Colleen raised a skeptical eyebrow Pidge amended. “Absolutely terrified but I love Lance and want to be with him.”
Colleen smiled as she gave her daughter a hug.
Finally the bridal party was all prepared but before they left Pidge asked for a moment to do one last thing.
She walked up to Father Tree and placed a hand on the trunk. Her markings glowed as she connected with the ancient tree.
“So what do you think old timer, am I doing the right thing?”
In reply there was a low rumble and the sensation of the ground shifting beneath her. Suddenly two roots shot out from either side of Pidge. The roots then ran along ground, creating a path that was clearly heading towards the lake. The flowers then burst out of the roots to decorate the path.
“Well,” Pidge commented. “I can’t argue with that.”
There were more than a few gasps of surprise as two roots grew out from the forest. The roots ran up the either side of the aisle, stopping just short of the altar before beautiful flowers burst out of the roots.
“You think this is Pidge’s handiwork?” Hunk asked.
“Actually I think it might be an old timer giving his blessing,” He bent down to give one the roots a pat. “Thanks Pappy.”
The root wrapped around Lances hand and squeezed lightly before releasing it. Lance stood back up and got into position as the music started. Everyone in the audience got their feet as the bridal party entered from forest.
Pidge lead the way, her flowing green dressing glowing with golden symbols. Allura carried the train as they exited the forest but released it as they got to the platform. The audience looked on in awe as Pidge walked up the aisle. Lance looked on in unbridled joyed.
The bride arrived at the altar and as she clasped hands with the groom the two became lost in each others eyes.
Hunk meanwhile had become misty-eyed and muttering to himself to “keep it together”.
Coran on the other hand was bawling his eyes out.
King Alfor allowed the couple a brief moment before he began the ceremony.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Lance and Katie in holy matrimony. which is an honorable estate. This is not an institution that they have decided to enter lightly but out of their love and devotion for each other.Ifany one can show just cause why they may not be lawfully joined together, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.”
At that moment the Gombash raised himself to his full height and glared down at the audience.
“Although you may have to answer to him,” King Alfor added dryly.
This earned a chuckle from the audience, some more nervous than the rest. When it was clear no one was going to object, the Gombash settled back down.
“The union two souls is a moment great joy and celebration. It is with great pleasure that I now ask you two take these vows.”
“Lance, do you take Katie as your wife? To love and cherish for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do.”
“Katie, do you take Lance as your husband? To love and cherish for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do.”
“Then it is my honour, as ruler of Altea, to now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
As Lance and Pidge kissed, the audience erupted in applause.

Okay I got some ideas for the end of V:LotD. Obviously there’s still A LOT MORE that needs to be done with this. Also these are my super-sketchy Scrivener notes, so it’s not going to read smoothly, bear with me here. ^_^;
Allura needs to do a thing that requires a massive amount of quintessence - so much that it might kill her. Shiro says, “You can’t!” She angrily tells him she can and will. He says there has to be another way… and then offers to come with her so she can use some of his quintessence, too. But the Lions are needed to fight and Voltron might be needed. They can’t have the Black Paladin missing.
Allura insists she has to do this alone and if it kills her, so be it. Shiro says, “No!” again, and swallows hard. Then he remembers something. The link. “We’re linked. We have been ever since you pulled me out of Black. Can you take my quintessence through that link?” “Possibly. But the Black Lion requires so much quintessence to pilot…” “I’ll be fine,” he insists. “Use my quintessence as well as yours.” He takes her hand in both of his. “Please.” His eyes plead with her. “We need you. I… I can’t lose you again.” She relents and agrees.
She has to take one of those personal pods from the Castle over to wherever she needs to perform the ritual. Of course it takes a toll on him while flying, but the team helps him. When they form Voltron, the connection holds but feels weak and thready because of Shiro’s drained quintessence. The others concentrate and give more of themselves, pour more of themselves into the bond between themselves, their Lions, and each other.
Allura succeeds in her ritual and drops to her knees, weakened, but still alive and conscious. But the fight isn’t over. Voltron is struggling. She takes her pod up into the fight. “Shiro! Let me into Black!” “What?” “I can help! Let me in!” “You’ve done enough! We’ve got this!” “Let me in or I’ll stay out here and fight them myself.” So, okay, he lets her in.
And this is when Allura supercharges Voltron from within Black, not only helping them stay together but become even more powerful.
Something where the Paladins face Zarkon one last time and just when Zarkon’s about to win, Honerva steps in and throws a monkey wrench into his plans, allowing Shiro and Allura and Voltron to defeat him. She’s now fully Honerva again, and she acknowledges that she and her husband should not still be “alive,” that their existence beyond death deforms the universe. In the end, Zarkon is grievously wounded; the ship/base they’re on is exploding. Honerva gathers Zarkon into her arms. She bends over him as the room they’re in explodes.
Voltron disbands and the Lions crash back to Earth: Blue lands in the ocean. Yellow lands in the desert. Red lands in a volcano. Green lands in a rainforest. Black doesn’t land at all, hovering there in stable orbit. The Garrison radios the Paladins. Coran cries out for Allura.  No answer. Continued and repeated calls receive only silence. And then… “Ugh… did we win?” Lance’s voice asked. “Lance, you’re okay!” “I don’t feel like it. Where am I?” “You’re [at this position in the whatever ocean]. We’ll send a ship out to get you.”
One by one, the Paladins wake up and check in. But no one’s heard from Shiro or Allura. The Castle goes to retrieve the Black Lion. Coran, Matt, Shay, Ozar, and Kolivan run to the Black Lion, which opens up for them. The cockpit doors slide open to show Allura slumped in Shiro’s arms, the both of them unconscious.
ONE YEAR LATER
Keith is asking Lance how he looks. “Pretty good. You know, for you.” Lance is dressed in a nice suit, as is Keith. Keith glares at him. “We’re wearing the same suit!” Indeed, aside from accents colored to match their lions, they’re exactly the same. “And yet I look so much better in it,” he muses, looking himself over in the mirror. Hunk wanders in, sniffling. “Oh, Hunk, don’t start crying again,” Lance protests gently. “I can’t help it,” he says. “I still can’t believe this.” Lance goes over to hug him. Keith does, too, and Hunk squeezes them in a hug like he did in season 1. “Come on, we don’t want to be late,” Keith says somberly.  They leave.
In the hallway - they’re apparently in the Castle of Lions - they run into Romelle and Pidge, both wearing the same dress, though Pidge’s has green accents and Romelle’s [light blue? What is the main color she wears? I don’t even remember now]. “You ready for this?” Keith asks them. “As we’ll ever be,” Romelle answers, sounding shaky. “Ready to get it over with,” Pidge says. “I hate these things.” Keith pats her shoulder. “Come on, let’s go.”
On the bridge, the control dais and paladin chairs have been retracted into the floor, providing a smooth surface for the many chairs that have been placed in rows with a central aisle between them. People are talking, some of them sniffling into handkerchiefs. Hunk is with Shay and Rax; Shay is comforting him as he cries. Pidge is with her family. Romelle is talking with Coran, who is also a bit weepy, and Ryou (formerly Kuron). We see Adam, Iverson, Kolivan, and James chatting. Keith and Lance are talking with Veronica and Krolia.
A hand falls to Keith’s shoulder - it’s Shiro’s. His suit is slightly different than the other guys’ - subtly fancier. “Hey, it’s time.” Keith turns and smiles at him. “You gonna make it through this?” “I’m going to have to.” He clears his throat and smooths his hand over his hair. “I mean, yeah. I’ll be fine. Let’s get in position.” He nods to Coran, who hurries out.
Music starts up. Everyone takes their seats and the Paladins and Romelle take their places at the front: from L to R, Romelle, Pidge, a large gap, Shiro, a slightly smaller gap, then Keith, Lance, and Hunk.
The doors to the bridge open and everyone turns to see Coran… with Allura on his arm. She’s in a resplendent gown, and she’s smiling nervously. But her eyes catch Shiro’s and she visibly relaxes a little. He does the same, and his smile widens. Coran escorts her to the front and relinquishes her to stand with Shiro. He stands there a bit longer, smiling happily, before Allura hisses his name at him. “Oh! Right, sorry, I just… Right.” He hurries over to officiate, clearing his throat and announcing, “On this day we have gathered to witness the joining of Princess Allura of Altea and Takashi Shirogane of Earth. We’ve prepared a ceremony that uses elements of both cultures for this historic and momentous occasion. You know, it puts me in mind of…” “Coran, please stick to the script,” Allura says. “Ah, yes.” [Insert details I haven’t yet figured out of their wedding here] “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may - “ But Shiro and Allura don’t wait for him to say it; they’re already kissing each other and the crowd is cheering. Adam looks a little teary-eyed but happy. Shay and Ozar and everyone else we’ve come to know and love are cheering loudly. Slav is mopping at his eyes and declaring, “Guess this reality isn’t so bad after all.”
When they pull away from each other, they stare fondly into each other’s eyes for a moment before they’re hugged by the team and Coran.
and there'll be an Epilogue where we find out what they did afterwards, etc. but I haven't gotten to those bits yet

*looks at s7 and s8′s writing of allurance and throws it away”
Okay yall here are ways I, a klancer, would have made Allurance so much more sweeter:
--Season 1 allura @ Lance: Your ears are hideous!” --by the end of season 1: “You know, your ears aren’t so bad. They are actually kind of cute.” --Switch Shiro out with Lance. Yes I loved the mission they went on with each other but consider this hot take: Lance immediately swooning when Allura beats the shit out of a sentry and steals his gun hEART EYES MOTHERFUCKER --*yeets lance into escape pod* Lance: Allura no! It should be me, not you! *cue aNGST* --Lance and Coran viciously tracking down where Allura could be and Lance and Pidge sneaking in without a hint of comic relief bc this is a dire situation and he is worriedTM --Pidge: “She’s going to be okay, Lance. Something tells me they wont dispose of her right away. We have time.” Lance: *cocking gun* Then we better get moving --Pidge and hunk actually gossiping about the possible relationship between Allura and Lance rather than uhhhhh being mean --When Allura first gets captured Keith pulls him aside to check up on him because he is a worried friend and knows what it’s like to have someone--a friend--be in danger --”What do you care, mullet?”  “Listen, I know you’re hurting. We all care for Allura and I was in the same state when Shiro was captured” (he is speaking from a platonic lens but regardless of platonic or romantic it applies in terms of emotions) --Bc I’m a feminist I like the idea of Allura breaking herself out and meeting up with Pidge and Lance. and they end up meeting a whole slew of Galra trying to stop them from escaping Allura is thrown Lance’s weapon as a strategy and it tURNS INTO A SPEAR --DUAL WIELDING COUPLE? YES. THEY SWITCH THE WEAPON AROUND WHILE ALSO INITIATING COMBAT AGAIN COMBAT COUPLE ACTIVATED --#PidgeAndKeithShooketh --Hunk and Shiro: :3 --Coran: -_- --Coran: “That’s weird the bayards are only supposed to be used through one chosen person not two” --Allura: ??? Lance: *clueless as fuq* --When Lance gives Allura his bayard since she is the next blue paladin he cracks a joke and she laughs. Is happy to give blue to her bc he trusts her --Lance gets himself in a pickle during a fight scene and Allura comes in with her lion like pew pew bish don’t fUCK WITH HIM --When Allura had to sacrifice her father’s memories for the good of the castle, Lance lent out a hug bc he too, may experience loss since he is away from his family and not sure if they are alive. And they in turn are not sure he is alive. --When Allura is being harsh to Keith about his Galran heritage, he pulls her over and explains to her the past of Earth similar to her background, but that hating doesn’t solve anything. what is important is to love others for who they are, not their ethnic background. He even brings up the evil Alteans, that no one is all pure and no one is all evil.  --When one of the evil altean sentry’s almost shot lance (but sven jumped in), Allura hears and checks up on him, going all healer mode. Same with sven (altean magic biiiiissshhhh where wAS IT THE REST OF THE SEASONS IM DISTRAUGHT) --Lance doesn’t really flirt with the mermaids in season 2 and when plaxum goes to kiss him on the mouth he gets distracted and she gets his cheek --Lance: O_O surprised but also going “why do am I not a fan of that??? I should be? @ God explain” --When Lance unlocks his sword bayard she teaches him all sorts of sword techniques since Keith is gone and when Keith does return, the two of them teach him. Allura demonstrates with Keith so Lance can analyze and Keith most of the time doesn’t react to Allura “attacking” and touching him bc again, ACE AS FUQ. --Lance: Man I wish that were me Allura: *literally flings Keith across the room with one well planned kick to the solar plexus* Lance: Man I wish that were me --Lance at Keith: I need relationship advice Keith mcfucking knife kogane: what’s a relationship Lance: God I need to set you up on dates. What about that acxa chick Keith: nah I’m good *goes back to book* --Lance at hunk: i need relationship advice Hunk: say no more *whips out countless of poetry and song lists for lance to use to wooTM Allura* --When lotor comes in fuck jealousy. Fuck it I hate the jealousy trait so Lance is sitting there, seeing them interact, and is confused as to why it slightly hurts but he is willing to let go --When you love someone so much you see them happy with someone else, you let them go bc you care about their happiness more than forcing a happy ending for yourself (cue more langst rip SHE LIKES YOU YOU SILLY BOY) --While I am a lotura shipper since this is strictly Allurance rewrite, Lotor is ace as fuq and sees Allura as a friend and she in turn thinks the same thing --As they are looking into alchemy and shit they stumble upon Honerva’s entry on Zarkon and her growing affection of him and Allura is like “Love is both beautiful and chaotic Lotor: Maybe, but it is what warms the heart and sparks endless passion Allura: Do you love anyone? Lotor: I love my generals. Not romantically, but they are my family. Allura: What is romantic love like? Lotor: That, my dear, is something you must find out on your own. Alchemy can only take you so far. Allura: *crISIS* -When Allura saved Lance from death’s grasp she is checking on him like, every hour  “Allura I’m okay” Allura: you dIED Lance: But your sweet talking brought me back to life *cue goofy grin* Allura: I don’t know if I should smack you or kiss you Lance: What Allura: whAT --Fuck the fight with Lotor bc they are now best friends and allura goes to him for advice and gossip and be like “what is this feeling so sudden and new” --Lotor: :3 --Lance one night is walking around the castle with his face mask on and runs into Allura and she sCREECHES “WHAT IS THAT” “IT’S A FACE MASK” “WHY IS IT EATING YOUR FACE OH MY GOD LANCE TAKE IT OFF” *Cue Lance informing her of what a face mask is and, when he removes it, she can’t stop stroking his cheeks and he’s livingTM) -They have a night of talking about their families and Lance putting a face mask on her to help her skin and braids her hair. It soothes her from all the stress she has been dealing, especially as a diplomat and paladin of voltron. --Hunk even made them altean brownies in the shape of hearts awwww --They fall asleep next to each other and the mice inbetween them --They were spooning until fucking pidge barges into Allura’s room and stARTS PLAYING THE HORN TO WAKE THEM UP PIDGE WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS --They scream, I scream, we all scream bc pidge is a shit --They don’t kiss in season 8 no no no they actually kiss in like, season 5 or 6 as the finale and it’s under the stars in the castle and all pretty and despite my bitterness over the red and blue and pink stars being completely thrown out the window, the blue and pink stars glow -three words: Space Mall Date --He gets her something sparkly at said mall or on earth and she marvels over it.  --On earth he gets her a rose quartz necklace and she loves it and never takes it off. She tucks it under her armor and when Coran advises it would be best to take it off she refuses  --When they crash land on earth after honerva’s fucking weird ass altean mech attacked for like, two episodes, Lance is sleeping by Allura’s side bc he woke up first and when she wakes up she pats his head. --She frames his drawing what do you mean it isn’t nice it is pure ART --Lance makes her another tiara as a replica of the one she sacrificed for Shiro. He gets Shiro’s help in finding the perfect stone to resemble the one she gave Shiro --It sparkles. Cue brownie points --They get in like, one argument and its about who the space mice are traveling with when they were in the voidTM --Lance doesn’t know how to dance but Shiro and hunk teach him so he can woo the socks off Allura --There is a ball episode. She enters in a beautiful dress and Lance is pure mush holy shit thats mY GIRLFRIEND --She even hAS THE NECKLACE HE GAVE HER RATHER THAN THE DIAMOND ONES ROMELLE FOUND OOF --Allura? Dying?? No the lions are sacrificed or there is no sacrifice at all bc Honerva alone should have been the one to have died only, not Allura. Dying is Dumb. --The alteans see through Honerva’s lies and actually overthrow her and Allura takes over the Altean colony because she deserves to be with her people and get to know them and yes that is her human boyfriend what about it. --They have a pretty wedding and she has juniberries as her bouquet. Shiro catches it. Adam isn’t dead bc like I said DYING IS DUMB. --They rule new altea together and explore the universe and help other planets learn to be independent and no longer used to Galra control. They help find proper galra diplomats (like the blades and kolivan and krolia and Keith) --They still have to fight the living supporters of Sendak bc the fires of purification yea what happened to them did they die --Peace is a long road for them but they achieve their dreams, love each other, and have fantastic friends  --side note lotor still not dead bc again he is a diplomat for both alteans and galrans and is as valuable as Allura is with diplomacy
EVERYONE LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER WHADDUP THATS MY TAKE HOPE YOU LIKED IT AND UUUUUUHHH YEAH FUCK CANON BYYYYYYYYE

Hey luka, im here looking for a bit of positivity. what do you think about the allurance leaks? It looks like they're gonna kiss but it seems like a goodbye kiss. I fear allura would die cause on the selfie one we see her statue but we don't see her. I want these leaks to be fake but they look legit. Hopefully this person is choosing each screencap to either throw off us or hype us. Can't wait to see the thing with full context but man what a way to kill the magic :///
ahhh yeah many people are very nervous about these leaks, questioning their authenticity and implications and whatnot.
for the sake of positivity...
if they’re fake, then, well, nothing to say there.
if they’re real, then, well, maybe they’re not as they appear.
the series’ promotional materials have misled us countless times in the past, particularly regarding character deaths. remember when everyone thought that lance had been kidnapped because he was off-screen during one scene, but he’d actually just been right out of view, completely safe? remember when they used a voice clip that suggested that shiro was dying in the s2 trailer, only for that scene to have shiro rescued minutes later? remember when pidge was convinced for a solid few minutes that matt had actually died, while sitting in front of his grave? yeah.
it’s incredibly tasteless to pose with bunny ears in front of a memorial statue of someone whom they’d all known and loved for years and recently died in a tragic event, so i could only hope that it would be a dedication statue rather than a memorial one. the alteans may have created one to replace loto/r’s if they settle on earth to honor allura for rescuing them from honerva. in that case, allura may just feel uncomfortable posing in front of a statue of herself, which compels everyone else to make goofy smiles in front of it to compensate.
picture this:
lance: wow this is the most beautiful statue in the entire universe, amazing.
allura: lonce pls stop.
lance: so amazing, wow!
that...doesn’t explain why she isn’t present during the wedding, but...maybe she’s...uh...taking the photo, or attending an event with the alteans?
if the screencap was depicting a goodbye kiss, then it would be more likely for it to be a fakeout goodbye kiss, in which lance begs her to stay while she insists on sacrificing herself for the greater good, and then she survives anyway, and they have a welcome back kiss! or maybe lance had almost died (again, lol) and she was freaking out because what if he had died and she’d never told him, why had she waited, what was the point, all you gotta do is kiss the boy~ or maybe allura just learned something upsetting and is seeking comfort from lance, whom she’s already kissed before and is currently dating. the positive possibilities are endless!
i’ve also seen speculation that allura is absent from these photos because she’s with the new alteans. however, that doesn’t seem likely.
a) allura has a very different culture from theirs (look at romelle’s reactions to these “ancient alteans” and how her slang differs from theirs), so she really has no right to “rule” them. get involved in their reconstruction? sure. declare herself their ruler when they don’t even know her? no thanks.
b) s7 emphasized that allura being the princess isn’t her most important role. she sacrificed her tiara to save shiro, she’s just wearing the garrison-issued uniform instead of her princess dress, and she was introduced as one of the alteans rather than the princess of altea when introduced to the officers at the garrison. why would they go back on that?
c) they’ve shown that allura has much more important roles--being the blue paladin, leading the coalition, performing ancient alchemy, etc. she couldn’t do any of that to her full capacity if she was leading the new alteans.
d) democracy.
so, with the optimistic assumption that allura lives, i think there will be another explanation for her absence in these photos rather than, “she separates from the team, including lance, at the end.”
i’m still holding out for the two of them living happily ever after, as they deserve.

Lance Vs Shiro: Same ending??
Or what I like to call: Why you should be more mad about Lance’s ending than Shiro’s ending in the clusterfuck called “Voltron’s horrible writing”.
Shiro and Lance had very similar endings in the last episode of Voltron, to put it in simple words: They decided to live a quiet life after the war.
This is kinda long, so i will add everything under the cut, i just want to say sorry for any gammar mistakes beforehand.
How, Lance decided to live in a farm with his family and “Surround himself with The Things He Loves”. Meanwhile Shiro got last-minute married with a dude and “Found his happiness and left the War Efforts Behind”. There’s been a LOT of negative reactions from the fans though, because these endings seemed lazy, out of character, etc. But there’s always a big difference in the spectrum:
People who are upset over Shiro marrying a “nobody” who talked like 2 times, and after Shiro being so happy being the captain and leader of the ATLAS, was being pushed aside to live a quiet life, dont care about Lance’s ending.
People who are upset about Lance’s lackluster ending of working on a farm after being clear about his liking of adventure, giving him a clearly racist ending, and never forgetting or moving on from Allura, don’t mind Shiro’s.
Though they DO think the other’s ending wasnt executed nicely, they don’t think the ending itself is bad per se.
And i know it’s been almost a month since VLD finished, but i found myself wondering why is that i am madder about Lance’s ending tha Shiro’s. So let’s break it down point to point and compare them.
Execution:
When we get to the time-skip, before the explanations of what happenned in the rest of their lifes, we see:
Shiro working as an embassador between planets, still a captain of the ATLAS, traveling through the universe to try and unify planets alongside Hunk who uses his food to help leaders see eye-to-eye.
Lance talking to some kids, telling them about Allura’s sacrifice, and telling them he now works and lives helping out on a farm.
Wich, together with their end cards, gives us the conclutions that:
After their last fight with honerva, Shiro was still Captain of the ATLAS for a few years, he married and decided to retire. We do not know if he married BEFORE or AFTER retiring though. Also, we do not know if he kept working or not after his retirement, since it was only said that he left the “War efforts behind and found happiness”. You can see a lot of things happened during his life as he moved on though.
Even if we, as audience didn’t see it, Shiro spent a few years dating his husband before marrying him, and event though it was pulled out of nowhere as a band-aid, it didn’t felt rushed since it was something that happenned years down the line and out-of-camera. So we are left without any kind of opinion about his relationship with his husband. This also means he spent more time as a captain of the ATLAS than some people seem to believe.
After their last fight, Lance retired from being a paladin and started working on his family’s farm, who suddenly have a family farm, before the war was even completely gone. And then he...kept working on his farm and sometimes talked to little kids about Allura.... thats about it.
It is not said if he “found love” or “happiness” or did anything else than farm and plant junniberries.
Their struggles before retirement:
Now, In this one we need to take a minute to compare these two characters during the show.
There are two things people say when discussing about their endings: “He loved adventure, it was his dream to pilot!! why the heck would he retire!!!!” and the more understanding “Well, he went through a LOT during the war, maybe he had enough and wants to take it easy from now on!".
Let’s start with the “They want adventure!” point:
Starting off with Shiro, they say: “He left his fiance because he wanted to be in space that bad! he didnt care if he died!” But i think people misunderstand some things about Shiro in this regard, principally: he was fucking dying.
Shiro had an illness that would leave him unable to move his body before it killed him.
He wanted to prove himself, and go to space, before his body stopped working.
He wanted to leave his mark on history, before he was bound to be stuck on a wheelchair unable to even go to the bathroom, cook or dress himself, so he had something left behind.
So i think people are misplacing his “wanting adventure”, it was more of a cry to wanting to do something with his life before being a vegetable. He was scared of getting nothing done and live his life never doing anything that amounted to anything. Afterwards this problem was solved, wich is not to say he wasn’t happy being apointed being the new captain of the ATLAS and traveling the universe. He WAS. He is a responsible leader and he deserved that position, but he never gave up being a captain after the fight with honerva, again, he was the captain for a few years before retiring when he chose to.
Now, going to Lance’s side, now this kid DID love adventure, breaking the rules, attention, etc. During the series you could see:
Him sneaking out of the Garrison and breaking rules.
Getting inside of alien ships and proceeding to pilot them before the others could finish reacting to seeing an alien ship for the first time.
whooping and hollering while flying in battle.
Actually looking very happy to help others and not backing down at the oportunity to do so.
and that was... like, in the first 3 episodes.
Now to the “They went through a LOT, they want a quiet life now!
Ok, bear with me and let me just run a thing through you all first.
Shiro is in his late 20′s, probably already 30, an adult and was Captain of the ATLAS for a few years before retiring.
Lance is fucking 18, maybe 19, he’s still a fucking embryo, and probably still has a lot of things to figure out about himself, but still decided to run a farm the instant they defeated Honerva i guess.
Now, during the war Shiro:
Was taken against his will and made a slave in space, was made to fight in the arena for entertanment and fought monsters and probably other aliens, probably even had to kill during this time.
Lost his arm and was experimented upon.
Crashed into earth and lost his memories.
Became the leader of a rag-tag tem of teens in space that was the only hope for the universe.
Suffered of PTSD during all of this.
Almost died a lot of times.
Died.
Became a clone.
This clone proceeded to: Betray his friends, help and spy for Honerva, almost killed Keith, who’s the closest person to him at the time.
Lost his arm again.
Almost got killed by Keith too.
He got his consiousness trasspassed from the Black Lion into the body of his clone, wich, almost rejected him and made him die. Again.
Found out his ex-fiance died and earth was almost anihilated.
We never knew anything about his family, but im sure they died since they never appeared???
etc.
Now, with Lance:
He almost died once, and the fandom is pretty sure he died one time after that but since Allura’s powers are weird we are not even sure what the hell happened there.
He felt doubtful about his position on the team.
He missed his family a lot
The girl he liked didnt like him back...?
His girlfriend of a month and a half sacrificed herseld and died.
uhhh... yeah.
And, like, no. I dont mean to say Lance is a cry-baby because he didnt go through as many things as shiro, or the others. The problem with this, is that it makes no sense because fucking lance never had an arc. The writers never cared about giving him some usefulness, or something that made him shine through, and when he was left at the end, they had nothing for him to do. So they gave him a farm.
But like, even after all the bullshit shiro went through, he moved on with his life, he found happiness and love, was still the captain of the ATLAS for some time before retiring, etc.
But Lance, someone who was so cheerful and up to help other people, who didnt left anything bring him down, just... decided to work on a farm for the rest of his life. Not moving on or anything, wich... yeah, it’s weird.
Keith, who almost died in space 971283678 times, found out he was Fucking Galra, was left alone by his parents, found his mother, was stuck in a space whale’s back for 2 years, was stuck on a leadership position he didnt want?? after uniting the Galra and helping put an end to the war he made a Humanitary Relief Organization, to help people with low resources in the universe.
Pidge? She lost her brother and father, ran away from home, got stuck on a war at fucking 15, had to learn how to fight and pilor, since, you know, she wasnt even a pilot in the first place. Almost lost her father to Zarkon, and believed for some time her Brother was dead. Bue she founded a Space Defenders organization to fight for justice in fucking space, and kept inventing tech to keep helping the universe and fight for the weak.
Hunk? He was a coward, he didnt even wanted to sneak out the garrison, much less get stuck on a space war! He didn’t want to fight, he didn’t want to die. His family was even captured on earth, unlike Lance’s. But he learned to be brave, and fought for people’s freedom. He became a diplomat, and learned how to hone his cooking skills to bring people together, so he became a Culinary Embassador to keep the peace in the universe.
They all are doing something with their lifes to help heal the universe after the war. Even after all they went through together. Even shiro helped for a few years before retiring, exept Lance. Who’s a farmer for some reason.
And i’m not saying that fighting on a War isn’t traumatizing enough, I’m just saying that if someone deserves to find love, retire, and live in the fucking bahamas on eternal vacation for the rest of his life, is Shiro. poor guy needed a break a long time ago.
WICH brings me to the last point of this really long essay:
It’s Implications:
It is sad that the only reason we got a wedding with shiro was like a bandaid from the lash-back they had from Adam’s death and the constant Bury Your Gays trope. But let me tell you something: it wasn’t badly done. Yeah, I woul’ve liked to see more of Curtis to get to know him, or maybe see Shiro and Him having some kind of interaction before being slapped with a wedding a few years down the line, but that was it. The point of it (appart from rebuilding the bridge with the LGBT+ comunity) was to make it clear that Shiro found love and happiness in his life, wich im happy he did, and this does not contradict anything his character is about:
It makes it clear that it doesnt matter how dark things are right now, it will pass and you will be happy someday, you can still make your dreams come true, you have to fight for it.
It doesnt matter if you lost your arm, got a horrible scar across your face, got white hair, etc. You can find love, you can still lead a happy life.
Now with Lance is way more jarring. He has this “good boy” storyline with his girlfriend, wich sucks since he could’ve been made into an “anyone can be a hero, it doesnt matter if you’re not specially good at anything!” but alas they missed that mark. He really didn’t had any storyline for himself perse, he became The Boyfriend and stayed that way.
He went from “Ohh, I dont feel like i have a place in the team since everyone is awesome and has abilities and I dont” one season to “The girl I like doesn’t like me back!” on the next.
In the last season we got this “The girl I like is finally dating me!” to “oh no, the girl I loved died after dating me for a month”
Then proceeded to “Let me go work in a farm and plant her favorite flowers on it, while I never stop loving her and never move on and keep telling everyone about her sacrifice forever and ever! War who?? My girlfriend sacrificed herself for peace but let me just ignore the war exists still!”
Wich is... sad. They literally never gave anything to Lance to apport to the team or the universe apart from being there for Keith and Allura when they needed cheering up. And even if he himself says “oh im happy, i have a quiet life and that’s how i like it now!” when you think about his ending, you dont feel that way. He literally has nothing, exept his family and flowers.
So yeah, i dont mind Shiro’s ending. It was one of the last things wrong with the ending of the show, even if it was made for the wrong reasons. And i do believe, people should stop hating on it only because they wanted him to happy his little brother whom is almost 10 years younger than him
And yeah, I do think Lance’s ending was racist. I myself am latina, even have a grandfather who owns a farm. Would i go work in his farm for the rest of my life after losing someone i loved? Fuck no. I do not know shit about farms, or farming. He isnt even shown to be specially good with animals, no more than the rest of the gang. And sincerely, that he cut’s himself from the universe and his friends anddoesnt even do anything to help or reconstructing the universe only sounds like depression to me.
But alright then, to each their own in what they want to believe.

Voltron Halloween Wrap Party
This is my Keith Month story for @keithmonth prompt Halloween which also developed into a slight Kacxa story. I came up with the idea of a Voltron Legendary Defender Halloween-Wrap party. In which “characters” dress up in costumes and have a gathering to celebrate the series. I hope you enjoy it as I enjoyed writing it. Some of the characters are dressed up as characters from series I liked growing up and series I liked now, whereas others represent characters as references to other series and movies and characters I feel they would actually dress up as.
Voice: Come on! It is almost 11:30! We were supposed to meet everyone an hour and a half ago!
Pidge dressed up as Hiccup from the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon movie, was leaning against a wall next to a closed door. She had her arms crossed tapping her pointer and middle finger against her black scaled armor. She even had a plushie Toothless perched on her shoulder.
Pidge turned her hand and looked at a holographic time display on her armor. The Halloween Voltron-Wrap party started at 9:30. She had received a text that her brother, Shiro, and Keith were going to arrive at various times around 9:25. Most of the cast had arrived around 8:30 and mingled. Only ones yet to arrive were Pidge and her roommate.
Voice: NO! I look stupid in this outfit! And what is the point of this bust armor and codpiece?!
Pidge lightly hit her head against the wall releasing an exasperated sigh a few times.
Pidge: It's a Halloween costume!
Voice: But I am practically naked! And why do I need a glowing rock in my hand and a sword!
Pidge: Because the character does! Do you want to grab his attention?! It will be a good counterbalance to his outfit!
Voice: I DO! But I don’t want anyone else’s! And I don't even know what he is wearing!
Pidge: That is kind of the point of costumes, to grab everyone’s attention, especially the one you are interested in!
Voice: What if he hates it? Or think it’s too...whats the word slutty?
Pidge: First: he won’t think that of you, and second: have you met him? Have you seen his anime collection? He’s going to love it!
Pidge heard a growl come from the bathroom and metallic stepping towards the door moved to the living room to watch her roommate come out of the bathroom. Pidge watched as her friend cautiously walked into the living room, her arm over her breasts and left hand over the cod-piece which also ran between her butt cheeks to connect to the body armor in the back.
Pidge’s eyes widened and mouth gaped open a little making her roommate stop walking and blush. Quick metal clanking from the nervous steps of her metal heals which also seemed to have blades in them. She felt a little uneasy under Pidge’s inspection.
Her roomie, wasn’t wrong when she said she felt naked. She was dressed up as Masane Amaha from one of his favorite series. She had the breast armor, the codpiece which had a blade in it. On top of her skin-tight alloy boots from the knees all the way down to the toe of the boots as a long razor-like blade that ended in a tip. Her left leg was covered to just above the left knee, whereas the right literally when up to her hip connecting to the body armor. Her right arm was covered in armor with a glowing red gem in the top and a retractable katana-like blade. On her left a skin-tight grey armor-like gauntlet to just cover her wrist.
Her breasts were covered from the side to just her nipples in what seemed to be clawed hands connecting to the body armor. She had a light shoulder pad o the left shoulder and what looked to be a massive curved blade on the space between her neck and right moderately padded shoulder and curved downwards towards her right breast.
The armor completely covered her back, sides (as previously described) except her left side which stopped at her left hip. She wasn't happy that the majority of exposed skin was from her neck down to her breasts, stomach, waist, leading down to her pubic region that the cod-piece barely covered. But the lack of frontal armor also showed off some of her scars. Something her race considered to be something intimate and personal between mates.
All that was left of her outfit was to put in her special contacts, make-up, and wig. Contacts that turned her sclera pitch black and iris a glowing orangeish-yellow color. Her wig was a mixture of bright and dark reds that went to her mid-back and flared into different directions. And makeup that would have made her cheeks almost similar to his mother’s, but then went down in a nearly straight line at her neck and slightly curve again towards her chest.
Pidge: Wow… he is going to love it!
Voice: I hope so. This outfit is so embarrassing!
Pidge: Don't’ worry about it. He will love it. Just don't be surprised if he wants you to wear it more after tonight.
Voice: I don't even know what he is wearing.
Pidge: That's the point, but trust me, you will know him when you see him.
Nearly everyone had arrived on time. Shiro dressed as the character Batou from Ghost in the Shell. He had his hair trimmed to a spikey mussed style and had specially made eye prosthetics made. He wore tactical multi-pocketed army green pants, military boots, a white tank top and tee-shirt, and leather jacket.
He arrived with Matt who being the anime nerd he was, was dressed as the long-haired version of Future Trunks and his fiance. Sporting a cropped jean jacket, black tank-top, and torn baggy jeans with yellow boots. His fiance wore a military style trench coat that had a red star in a yellow circle on the right arm. She also wore tactical boots and green fatigue pants visible where the coat stopped. She had ad typical gun belt on, with black leather gloves.
Lance arrived with his sister and the Alteans. He had grown a little mustache and wore a black and white pinstripe suit. His hair was slicked back with grease, modeling his looks after Gomez Adams. He walked in with Allura’s arm looped through his.
His sister Veronica was going for a Selene from Underworld look. She was wearing a black latex catsuit with a black corset with intricate patterns that looked Celtic in origin even her leather trench coat had the same intricate Celtic like patterns on it. She straightened and dyed her hair black. She wore leather boots that went halfway up her thighs having various buckles down the sides.
Allura was dressed as Storm. She wore the black leather suit from the movies, something she loved more than the tacky silver jumpsuit from the cartoons and old comics. She saw some friends and broke away from Lance’s arm and went to greet them.
Romelle dressed as Sailor Moon and broke away from the group when she saw Shiro’s stunt double Sven leaving Lance with Coran who was dressed as Michael Myers. Like Shiro, he was dressed up as a Ghost in the Shell character, but Togusa in tac-gear. She eagerly walked up to him a blush on her face, as he smiled at her.
Coran, dressed as Michael Myers, left the siblings to go talk to Alfor wearing a Black Knight outfit that had what looked like a head of a swine with tusks in red on the front. He even had the patterned blood spurt hoses for his legs and arms. Zarkon was no surprise dressed as Darth Vader and Honerva was dressed as Elvira. They were laughing it up at exploits and adventures they have done and been on. Even Allura’s mother made an appearance and was catching up with Honerva like bantering sisters. But Allura’s mother just couldn’t step out of being proper, so she wore a dress a queen from the middle ages.
Lance saw Hunk and Shay and said something to his sister before going to them. To an untrained eye, Hunk would have looked out of place. Being he was wearing regular clothes, a hat ball cap that said “Giver,” a tight flannel sleeveless shirt, and overalls over the shirt. He even had a fake mustache and beard. But what gave it away that it was a costume was he had fake blood spray on the front of his overalls, flannel shirt, and washed blood on his arms. His girlfriend Shay was dressed in a forest green gee that had gold embroidery and pants that were a sandy tan color. She had a square in a circle pendant around her neck and yellow arm wraps.
Next to arrive was Kolivan, he for a second time since filming started had a smile on his face. He was dressed up as a Jedi. The production staff thought it was best because of his skills and how he carried himself. Followed by Krolia and Keith’s father Trever Hawkings. They were still beaming with love for each other, proudly wearing their wedding bands now that the series was over.
Krolia was dressed as Laura Croft, she sported the aqua blue tank top, dark brown hiking shorts, a pair of thigh strapped holsters to her legs and hiking boots. Trevor was dressed up as Indiana Jones, with the expedition khakis, boots, and shirt. He wore a belt on his side with a whip attached to it, along with the hat and jacket. Before mingling with others Krolia noticed a pair of pink glowing eyes.
He watched from the roof via a skylight as Lotor arrived dressed as Riff-Raff from the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show. With him was Macidus who was dressed as the Scream-Ghost, Zethrid, and Narti who were dressed up as a Godzilla and a furry kaiju. He also saw Ezor was wearing an outfit that looked Asian in origin, based on her outfit and how acrobatic she naturally was he deduced her character was from that Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Sendak was dressed as a Terminator and Dayak were dressed in a black one-piece skintight robe from the waist up to her hat which was 2 curved points that looked like dragon horns.
He also saw Nyma, Beezer, Rolo, and Olia arrive. They were dressed as their favorite characters. Nyma was dressed as a female predator. Rolo as Daryl Dixon, he couldn't help but smile thinking “suits him.” Beezer was made to look like R2D2 and Olia as a werewolf.
He saw Hira dressed as a character from a sequel series to that Avatar series. Trayling was dressed as Vincent Price. Even Slav who was running the decorations and DJaying was dressed up. He smiled as his wolf dressed as the kaiju Angilas and Laika dressed as King Caesar was playing tug-of-war with some Sentry props. He saw various “Galra secondaries” like Thace, Ulaz, and others mingle with some of the actresses who played female Galra in the series.
Next to pile into the reserved dance hall was the Garrison group. Iverson was dressed as the DOOM-Slayer, Sam Holt was dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Colleen was dressed as a character name Aina from a Gundam series. James was dressed in a Star Trek uniform from The Wrath of Khan” to the beginning portion of “Generations”, Ina was C3PO, Nadia was wearing a sleeveless one-piece bodysuit with body paint on her arms to look like robotic arms, brown boots that went up to her knees, fake blood smeared in a line on her cheeks, and her hair cut to a “bob-cut” style. Kinkade who Nadia was attached to, caught his eye. He was dressed up as Blade, from the buzz cut and fake tribal tattoos to the black leather trenchcoat, sword, throwing spikes, and blades, down to his vest, black tactical pants, boots, and sunglasses.
The last to join the festivities were Voltron Alumni from the previous series. A feisty 23-year-old redhead by the name of Larmina who was dressed as Scarlet in black tactical gear and a crossbow holstered to her side. Vince who was dressed in the typical college student costume of Raphael the ninja turtle. And Daniel who was dressed as David Tennant’s Doctor from Doctor Who.
He sighed not seeing who he wanted to see and walked out of view of the skylight. He slowly made his way down the stairs outside the building and slipped into the building. He disconnected the tubes leading from his chest to his helmet before entering the kitchen. V’repit-Sal was catering the event and was barking out orders to his under-chefs. He grabbed a few samples and left the kitchen. He went and sat down in a dark corner turning the light up eyes off and sulking ate the food he took.
What he didn’t know was Pidge finally joint the party with her roomie, Acxa. When he saw still in the darkness, he was spellbound by her outfit. He couldn't help but stare at her, like most of the other men and some of the women. Some that were jealous, others that were spellbound like he was. He saw that she was looking for someone but had a disappointed look on her face. She went and started mingling with some of the castmates she grew to call friends over the last 2 years.
Voice: Well, go on. Go say hello to her.
Keith nearly jumped out of his costume hearing Pidge’s voice. He couldn't see her under her black armor, but he could tell she had a shit eating grin under that helmet. The two chatted briefly before Pidge told him she is really out of her comfort zone wearing the outfit. After Pidge left him to go mingle with the others, Keith sighed before putting his helmet back.
He sat there looking at her before turning the pink almond-shaped eyes on again. He could see her increasingly get uncomfortable. He stood up and slowly started walking out of the darkness. Everyone actually stopped what they were doing and looked at the blue armored being with black under it walk. Each step he made had a soft metallic “clinking” sound.
As he walked up to Acxa everyone was wondering who this person was with great confidence. Everyone except 3 people and a wolf who was busy playing with his new friend. Pidge went to meet up with Hunk and Lance with a cocky smirk on her face as everyone was admiring the suit she helped make.
Hunk: What character is that?
Shay: I do not know. But it looks like a mean character.
Lance: Who is that and who made it?!
Pidge: I helped make it, and it is a character from Guyver. This happens to be the movie 1994 movie version of the character Guyver-I.
Lance: Never heard of it.
Pidge: Not surprising with you Lance. Considering you like the most assinine anime that is on TV, that has no real substance to it.
Lance scowled at her.
Hunk: But who is it?
Pidge: Isn't it obvious?
Acxa seemed a little uneasy under the emotionless pink glowing almond eyes. Even covered up her chest, most of her scars, and the pubic region as she looked at the armored person before her. The armor was a deep aqua blue with black coils underneath it. The armor had an organic appearance to it but yet looked metallic. It had what looked like cracks in it that looked part of the armor itself.
Keith: Happy Halloween, Acxa.
Acxa: Keith!
Keith: Excellent Witchblade.
Acxa started to blush, and hug him a little tighter.
Acxa whispering: Thanks.
People saw her eyes go from uneasy to recognizing the voice and giving him a hug and him wrapping his arms around her. They could see her start to relax again, which was the biggest indicator on who it was.
Hunk: Is that Keith?! No way!
Pidge: I know right? Who knew he had a taste for obscure anime!
Krolia smiled seeing the scene and even gave a slight nod to the DJ. He switched the song from “Werewolves of London” to a version of a rock song that was just strings and piano. She felt a left hand touch her left shoulder and a right arm wrap around her waist gently which prompted her to put her own on them as his scent surrounded her. The 2 proud parents watched on gleaming at their son and the woman he was hugging.
Keith and Acxa continued to dance and be each other’s company. Even as the night progressed to early morning and the owners and producers of the Voltron series made it known that they had a couple of announcements to make Keith and Acxa remained each other’s company. The first announcement was to tell everyone that when the party ended and the December premiere party the series “Voltron Legendary Defender” was officially over.
The announcement brought a rather somber tone to the room. Everyone had poured blood sweat and tears into the show and now it was over. Far too soon for some, but it was the end of the series. It prompted a somber clapping cheering from everyone. But that announcement wasn’t the only announcement.
When everything calmed down it was revealed that there were 2 spin-off series and a sequel series in the works which lead to the third announcement. The last and final announcement from the owners and producers was there were plans for a Voltron movie in which start production in 2023 for a 2024 release to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Voltron.
Everyone in the room erupted in a cheer that reverberated outside. As he embraced Acxa, who sat on his lap leaning and nuzzling against him he was content. For once in so many years, this was turning out to be the best Halloween ever and that didn't want it to end, was the single thought going through Keith’s head.

The Play-Lotura drabble
Basically, as work in progress fic, where Lotor and Allura grew up as, childhood friends, and Honerva and Zarkon aren’t quintessence-addicted zombies. But, However, for Lotor, he always going to have it ruff, either wau. If it isn’t bad parents it’s something else. Like being that socially awkward kid that no one likes.
Honerva tired, she really did try. Her face ached, and her teeth clenched, as she forced herself to keep smiling.
But, it was hard, hard because Lotor was reciting by far the the most stilted acting she had ever witness and heard in entire her long life. And hard because had to keep her hand on Zarkon’s shoulder, and hard because all the other adults were giving her and her husband odd looks.
“Honerva, I can’t watch this anymore,”He whispered,  As he watched his son struggle, and trip over his own tongue, his face totally vacant, as the other children were either boring holes in his persons, or having a great time at his expense.
Lotor of coursed notice, but he didn’t let on.
“You.Are.Not.Leaving.” she hissed, as he struggled to flee from her grasps.
“An-and-I cris-crossed-the-the-m-mighty-mountains. And-crossed-the-oceans-to-save-the-princess-,” They both cringed, as if their ears were trying to retreat back into their very bodies.
Lotor’s tone conveyed no emotion as he spoke, he was monotonous, and kept making odd pauses and drew out the syllables for every word far too long, you wouldn’t think he was fluent in Altean. He was, in both Galra and Altean, but tonight however, one would never know with how adamant the little boy was about butchering it, words, sentences and all.
Zarkon doing everything in his power to leave. But, with Honerva caging him on his left, and Alfor on his right who looked as he if was reliving some kind of tragic event, he was in a tight spot. He couldn’t sit and here and watch his son get public humiliated like this. He could hear the snickering in  the background, and he turned to glare at Blaytz who was a roll behind. He shut-up immediately.
The snickering of course continued, but not from Blatyz, but, from the other adults in the audience. He could forgive the children, they did not know any better. But, adults on the other should know better and act with better decorum.
He turned his eyes back to the stage, when he heard a clank of metal hit the floor. And found Lotor scrambling to heft the the sword, which he dropped by accident he gathered, and lifted it the air. He opened his mouth to speak his next line, but it slipped, possibly from sweaty palms, and smacked himself right in the center of his face, and he and the sword tumbled to the ground.
He heard coughing, mingled with mirth, and saw Alfor wince. Lotor, popped back up, his face red, picked the sword up once more and and spoke-
“Here-me-Princess-I’ve-come-to-save-you-from-the-wicked-sorcerer-,”
Allura popped upon the stage, she was looking quite pale.
“My knight has come to save me, oh, could I ever repay the kindness that you bestowed upon my good knight,” Allura’s though a far, far cry from excellent acting, she spoke her lines with grace and ease, the balm for everybody’s ears that night.
Zarkon could see Alfor tearing up from the corner of his eyes, he rolled his. This wasn’t the first play that their children have participated in, nor the last. And yet, he tears up, as if it were her wedding day every single time. He nudged him lightly, to express his exasperation. Aflor only sniffled. Ugh.
“I can’t help it,” he whispered, his voice hoarse. He could hear the latter’s wife “Alfor, please,”
“No, so fast wretched knight,” A boy, dressed in black armor, appeared. Balmer. Zarkon did not like Balmer. He was a child born of Altean nobility, and horrifyingly spoiled in his opinion.
Balmer was playing the villain. He spoke with good grace and ease, much like Allura, but with a bit more arrogance. He was certainly tall for his age towering over both Allura and Lotor.
He grabbed Allura away, as the story states, but with a bit too much force for it to be consider acting. Allura, quite subtly kicked his shin. The only indication that he felt that was a slight stumbling over his next line.
Balmer stood in front the Princess “You can never defeat me, and you will never have the princess, for she is mine and as well as her kingdom!”
“Never-fiend-you-will-not-have-your-wicked-ways-
And then it was a duel. The pivotal point of the play. And much like his acting, his dueling had seen better days. Well, it give it the benefit of the doubt, it wasn’t supposed to authentic dueling, but try telling that to Balmer, who seemed focused on actually leaving behind some damage. In the end he had managed a elbow the young prince in the face, which wasn’t in the script at all, but the play continued. With both the knight and the princess sealing away the evil the sorcerer.
The play ended with the curtains closing,
“And now Ladies and Gentlemen,” Coran hopped out from behind the curtain “A round of applause for our talented actors,”
The children filled out one by one, Lotor with a bloody nose, and hand and hand they bowed as the adults clapped and cheered.
And thus the play had ended. Which left Zarkon with a major bone to pick.

Chapter 1 - Previous - Masterpost
Also posted on AO3 and fanfiction.net
It’s been a few days past my goal of two weeks, but I’m okay with that. (It’s better than taking a whole month.) And this chapter still ended up being almost double that of chapter 10??? It took me all day with just a few breaks to type this up, but it was worth it.
Enjoy!
Chapter 11
Pidge hummed as she pulled up the coding for Rover's artificial intelligence, her keen eyes scanning over it for any clue about her beloved robot's continued instability. It was an insult to her programming skills that she'd been unable to solve such a simple problem.
Maybe it wasn't the programming. Maybe there was some crucial piece (or pieces) missing. The sentry had been pretty trashed when she picked it up, but she'd been so sure that she'd gathered everything she needed to complete her pet project. Pidge may have to put in a word to her suppliers and see if they had anything.
She was contemplating accessing their secure line to see if they were in the area, when the door to the Green Lion's hangar slid open and Allura and Lance stepped inside looking positively giddy. Pidge's eyes were drawn to the simple brown package in Lance's and she raised an eyebrow in surprise.
“It's finished already?” she asked, turning away from her desk.
Lance nodded, hurrying over to her in his eagerness to hand over his gift. “I gave Nilani the design a while ago, but couldn't find a good reason to get her to make it for you. Now, I do!” He held it out to her as Allura caught up to him.
Pidge accepted the package and slowly peeled away the tape, knowing the anticipation was killing her friends.
After several days of deliberation and looking at the work of several of the royal tailors and dressmakers, Pidge found herself gravitating towards the work of Lance's personal favorite – a half-Altean girl named Nilani, who'd developed a fascination with Earth culture and welcomed the challenge of designing for them. The parcel Lance had brought her was the first finished example of her work and Pidge didn't have the faintest clue how it was going to look.
While Lance squirmed, Allura stood with a beaming smile and her hands clasped in front of her, a sure sign that the princess was struggling to maintain her calm and cool appearance.
Pidge raised her eyes to meet Lance's as she leisurely lifted up the first layer of wrapping.
“You are a cruel friend,” Lance informed her.
Pidge laughed and finally ripped the paper away, eager to see it for herself. She saw the rich purple first – not too dark, but not too pink either. As she held it up, her attention was down to the wide panel of white down the center of the dress. The fabric itself flowed smoothly and was just the right thickness that it would drape nicely over her body.
“You liked the one I found at Space Mall, so I picked a style similar to that. The sleeves are longer, because I thought that might be more comfortable for you, and I think the skirt is shorter, so if you don't like it-”
“Lance,” Pidge interrupted because he could get too carried away. She couldn't tear her eyes away from her new dress, so similar to the one she'd worn for Matt's graduation, just before he and their dad left on the Kerberos mission. “I... I love it. It's like having a piece of home.”
(A piece of her old self. Of Katie, the girl who dreamed of being a pilot and finding out for herself what the stars had to teach her.)
Lance looked relieved.
Pidge stood and tried to hold the dress against herself so they could get a better look, but doing so with one arm proved a bigger challenge than she expected. She messily tucked the left side beneath the sling to hold it in place and then didn't dare move or risk it slipping free.
“It's beautiful,” Allura complimented. “Though it may cause a bit of a stir if people see you wearing Prince Keithir's colors so soon.”
Pidge wasn't really sure how she felt about that. A few weeks ago and she likely would have set the dress aside, burying it somewhere deep within her closet until she was sure she could look at it without feeling uncomfortable. However, after everything they'd been through, after the very nice evenings she'd spent in his company the past few days, she found she didn't mind so much.
“Speaking of Prince Keithir, how are things going with him?” Allura asked, genuinely curious.
“Good, I think,” Pidge said. “We're actually talking to each other now.” She folded up her new dress to the best of her ability and put it on the corner of her desk where she was sure to remember to pick it up and take it back to her room later.
“Does that mean you'll stop glaring at the floor whenever someone mentions wedding stuff?” Lance asked.
“I don't-! I didn't!” Pidge sputtered in protest.
“You did,” Allura and Lance said in unison. They looked at each other and grinned.
Pidge slumped in her chair as she sat back down. “Ugh, I did, didn't I?” she asked rhetorically.
As much as she wanted to blame being in pain for her dour mood towards anything wedding related, it had honestly started before her injury. She was learned hard and fast that just because she'd voluntarily offered herself up in Allura's place, it didn't mean a part of her wasn't still resentful for that.
“It's not too late, you know,” Allura reminded her, her voice soft. “Empress Honerva bought you three months for an official courtship. If either of you decides it isn't something you can go through with, no one would fault you for breaking it off.”
“But then you'd have to marry Lotor,” Lance said before Pidge had a chance to find the words.
Allura closed her eyes. She breathed in deeply and then slowly let it out. “Yes, I would.”
“That's not going to happen,” Pidge said with steel in her voice. She twisted her chair around so she was facing her computer screen, which meant she completely missed the twin expressions of surprise from Allura and Lance. “I won't let that happen to you, Allura. Besides, Keithir isn't so bad. I could be... content with him.”
Content.
She could see having a fantastic friendship with him, even with their rocky start, but that didn't mean they would fall in love and live happily ever after. They were two very different people, with just enough in common that they could get along and work well together, but that was all she saw.
Allura and Lance left soon after, giving Pidge more time alone with her thoughts.
Pidge worked until her stomach rumbled so loudly that she could no longer ignore it. She saved her progress and shut down her equipment before stretching carefully to release some of the stiffness in her back that had built up from sitting still for so long. Before leaving, she made sure to grab her dress and stuff it into a bag alongside a file of blueprints to work on back in her room, and then she was off to Hunk's kitchen.
When she arrived, she found Shiro dressed in full armor, calmly leaving instructions with the others. Hunk and Lance were notably not wearing their armor.
“What's going on?” Pidge asked.
Hunk looked as though he was struggling not to laugh. “Uh, someone mentioned bringing Slav in to look at the cryo-pods. Kolivan just came and told us that he's agreed to fly over here, but only if Shiro's the one to pick him up.”
Pidge chanced a quick glance at Shiro's face and had to hide her grin when she saw his eye twitch at the mention of Slav's name. As much as the crazy genius drove all of them up the wall, no one handled it worse than Shiro. There was something about Slav that pushed every single one of his buttons in the worst way. What made it better (to everyone else) was how much Slav loved the Black Paladin, probably because he was the only one willing to go above and beyond to fulfill his ridiculous conditions.
“I'll be gone for a few days, but that doesn't mean you three can slack off,” Shiro said sternly. “Allura will oversee your training while I'm away. Even yours, Pidge. You're still capable of running laps.”
Suddenly Pidge wished she was still confined to a bed. Training under Allura's guidance was bound to be a hellish experience. Even after three years of working together, the princess still forgot that their stamina and strength wasn't equal to that of Alteans and would push them until they couldn't stand.
Lance groaned, vocalizing everyone's thoughts on the matter. “Are you sure we can't take a tiny break? A few days wouldn't hurt, right?”
His question at least make Shiro smile and Pidge wondered for a moment if it was his way of getting revenge for their obvious delight that he was the one going to get Slav. She pushed the thought away. Shiro wasn't that petty.
(Yes. Yes he was.)
Pidge's stomach chose that moment to gurgle loudly, reminding her of the reason why she'd let her hangar. She blushed as everyone turned to look at her.
“Hunk, you're in charge of making sure everyone eats properly,” Shiro said, sounding mildly amused.
That was an instruction the Yellow Paladin was happy to agree to.
It wasn't uncommon for conversation to come to an abrupt stop when Keithir walked into a room, whether he was in the royal palace on Daibazaal or at home in the Blade headquarters. So when he exited his room and Thace and Kolivan went silent as they turned to regard his arrival, he wasn't surprised.
“You should hear this,” Kolivan told him.
Keithir had been fully prepared to step out for a few minutes to let them wrap up, so he was pleasantly surprised by their invitation to learn more about what was happening. Even if it turned out to have nothing to do with the assassination attempt, it was still nice to be involved in something after being shut out for most of the week. He joined them, trying not to seem overeager.
“Part of my mission was meeting with an informant who has news from someone close to Lotor,” Thace explained. “According to him, Lotor returned straight home to Daibazaal after leaving Altea. There have been no noteworthy changes to his behavior and he hasn't met with anyone unusual. By all appearances, he had nothing to do with the attempt on your life.”
“But who else could it be?” Keithir's question came out as a demand. He flicked his ears back and looked away, waiting for the reprimand about keeping a level head.
“We doubt Lotor is innocent in this matter, which is why we will continue to investigate him. It is much more likely that this has been planned for some time, but certain events have caused him to act hastily,” Kolivan explained, crossing his arms over his chest.
Thace shifted uneasily. “What worries me is how quickly his plans have adapted to the currant situation. Ulaz is certain that Lotor is behind the malfunctioning cryo-pods. It cannot be coincidence that it happened the same day you agreed to marry Pidge, though it seems unlike him to make such an obvious move. I believe the two of you have taken him by surprise more than anyone expected,” he said, sounding a little proud. “This is the best opportunity we've had in years.”
“It has also become clear that Lotor is not working alone. We've suspected as much, but the sniper confirms it. Furthermore, the ease in which they avoided being caught suggests that it was the work of two people, rather than one. If he truly hasn't been seen meeting with anyone, they are far more than hired goons given the task of killing you. They have his trust,” Kolivan said.
The clear worry in his voice struck Keithir with vivid shock.
“You and Lady Katherine must remain vigilant.”
Keithir's stomach churned at the thought of it. It was one thing for his life to be in danger, but the reminder that Katie was just as big of a target as he was made him feel ill.
Logically, he knew she was fully capable of taking care of herself. He'd heard stories of the Green Paladin's courage and ingenuity in the face of adversity and had seen a spark of that for himself. In a fight, there was no question that she could hold her ground and come out the winner in the end.
But Lotor was a different battle. He was clever and didn't pull his punches, striking wherever he found a weakness to exploit. He had strategy and finesse on his side, as well as years of experience thanks to careful training. (He was raised to be the future Emperor, after all.) Keithir had never met anyone who was able to out-think his brother, and even with her quick thinking and brilliant mind, he wasn't sure even Katie had a chance.
“We've sent for Slav,” Kolivan told him. “He'll arrive soon to see what he can do about the healing pods and then we'll have one less thing to worry about. That leaves us with two more days of vulnerability. If Lotor has anything else planned for us, he'll strike before then.”
Pidge stealthily made her way through the halls, ducking out of sight whenever she was about to encounter a guard or one of the Blade. It was unlikely that anyone would stop her, but if word got back to her friends that she was leaving the Castle to go down to port on her own, without any additional protection and her wound still healing, they'd probably lock her up until Shiro returned. (Admittedly, that wouldn't be too long, as Shiro was due to return that evening, but she'd still rather avoid it.)
Just a little further and she would be free.
“What are you doing?”
Pidge barely withheld a shriek of surprise, spinning around to find the source of the voice. She spotted them quickly, tucked away in one of the small alcoves which seemed to serve no purpose except to break up the monotony of the otherwise straight corridor.
“Keith,” she breathed in relief.
He pushed his hood back and deactivated his mask. “It's dangerous to go out on your own.”
Her relief at seeing her friend quickly shifted to frustration. She was so tired of everyone trying to baby her and tell her what she could or couldn't do. She was a Paladin! There was always danger waiting for her, but that didn't mean she had to cower in her room out of fear!
Pidge turned away from him and kept walking. “I'm just going to see some friends. I won't be long.”
Swift footsteps followed behind her. Keith made no effort to hide the fact that he was following her.
“I don't need a baby-sitter, Keith!” she snapped.
Keith caught her by the arm, tugging her to a stop. “Are you insane? You have no idea how dangerous Lotor is! He's not going to pull any punches just because you're injured! You can't go out there by yourself!”
Pidge ripped her arm from his hold, frustration mounting to rage. “You can't tell me what to do!” Her voice echoed down the hall, much louder than she intended. Her face reddened slightly, but she held her ground.
Keith, it seemed, wasn't going to back down either. (Pidge wondered later if it was because he was used to dealing with an equally stubborn prince.) “Just listen to me! Lotor is done playing games. He's going to use every advantage he can take and you going out there by yourself is playing directly into his hands! You're going to get yourself killed, Katie!”
His use of her real name made her feel as though she'd been doused in cold water. So few people called her by that name anymore – Keithir was the only one, actually – and it was enough to make her stop and think.
“Please don't go by yourself,” he said, his voice a little softer. “It doesn't have to be me, but don't go alone.”
Pidge closed her eyes and took a moment to breath and calm herself. She wouldn't let herself be ruled by anger. It had a horrible way of getting her to yell at people who didn't deserve it and muddying her normally logical thought process.
“I guess having backup wouldn't be so bad... Just stay close and try not to draw attention to yourself,” Pidge told him, eyeing his dark uniform. They had little hope of not standing out, but if they acted natural, no one would watch them closely.
Keith fell into step next to her as they left the Castle. A heavy and strained silence stretched between them, hanging on by a fragile thread that neither of them was ready to break.
Pidge was still steamed about how he tried to order her around, as though she was a child who needed to be coddled and protected because she couldn't do it herself. It didn't matter how much time had passed. It didn't matter that she was considered an adult by most cultures, on Earth or otherwise. She doubted she would ever shake the paranoia of others treating her like she was too young.
“Who's this friend you're risking your life to see?” Keith asked.
“Friends,” Pidge corrected, ignoring the obvious jab. “They're kind of my suppliers for unusual tech that I re-purpose for my own use. Sometimes they bring me interesting news.”
Keith looked impressed. “They're your informants?”
“In a way. They're able to fly under the radar, so they pick up on tidbits no one else hears about. Sometimes it's useful. Sometimes it's just rumor. It's easy to pick out which is which when the rumors are usually something like Commander Sendak being spotted vacationing at the spa on Traxia's twelfth moon.”
Keith chuckled. “That does sound unlike him.”
“Yeah, I always figured he was the sort to enjoy fighting more than anything else. If anything, a spa day would be like torture to him,” Pidge said jokingly.
The two fell quiet again as they reached a more crowded area. Keith moved a little closer to her, his sharp eyes watching out for anyone who looked suspicious. Pidge pressed on, knowing exactly where she was going as she led the way through the winding streets packed with people.
They walked for some time, but eventually she spotted the old junker parked on the edge of port. Grinning, she strode forward to greet the blue-skinned alien who was moving boxes off of the ship.
“For a while I was afraid I'd have to come bail you out of trouble again,” Pidge called out.
The alien stood up straight and lazily smirked in her direction. “I'd be flattered if I didn't know the real reason you'd come to our rescue. Beezer's helping Nyma with a few things inside right now.” His gaze slid to Keith, who stood rigidly at Pidge's side. He raised an eyebrow. “Who's your shadow?”
“This is Keith. Keith, this is Rolo,” Pidge introduced. “So, you said you found something for me?”
“Straight to business, as usual,” Rolo teased. “But yeah, we picked p those parts you asked for the last time we were here and I think Nyma has some spare pieces for your sentry. You two come on in and I'll find them for you.”
Keith's gaze flickered to Pidge, who followed Rolo onto the ship with a bounce in her step, wrapped up in the delight of finally getting to start the projects she'd been postponing due to lack of materials. (Sure, she could ask Allura for all of the Altean tech she could dream of, and had done so more than once, but there was something infinitely more fulfilling about salvaging stuff that anyone else would declare garbage.)
“Keith, are you coming?”
He finally moved, unsure about walking onto an unfamiliar cargo ship, but willing to trust that Pidge wouldn't deliberately lead him into a trap.
“Nyma, Pidge is here!” Rolo called towards the front. At his words, a faint barrier built itself across the ramp of the ship, cutting them off from the outside world.
Keith's hand immediately went to his dagger as he slid into a defensive position, fully prepared to fight his way out.
Rolo caught sight of the movement and raised an eyebrow. “Twitchy, isn't he?” he remarked to Pidge.
She looked back, her eyes going soft when she saw him. “Keith, it's fine. The barrier just prevents anyone from listening in to what we're saying. It's not keeping us stuck inside. See?” She stuck her hand through it to prove her point.
Keith relaxed at her demonstration, a little embarrassed by his reaction, and let his arms rest back at his sides.
“You obviously have more than parts for me today,” Pidge said as she walked over to stand next to Keith. “What's going on?”
Rolo leaned back against a wall before he started talking. “We've started to hear talk about rebellion in the Outer Reaches. Seems there's a couple of planets willing to band together and 'take back what's rightfully theirs'. Mostly we figure they're talking about the colony planets and stations held by Altea and Daibazaal. They've never been fond of either spreading their influences that far, but this is the first time anyone has dared rally against them.”
Keith frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. “You're talking about the Napamku Quadrant.”
Rolo nodded.
“That's Lotor's territory. The Galra colony and two outposts are under his control, to help him prepare for ruling the empire,” Keith quietly told Pidge. “The Blade's picked up whispers of unease for years, but nothing like this.” He directed his attention back to Rolo and raised his voice so the other could hear him clearly. “Are you sure?”
“I wouldn't be telling Pidge if I didn't think it was serious.”
“Kolivan and Shiro need to hear this,” Pidge murmured.
Keith agreed, silently vowing to find Kolivan the moment they returned to the Castle. His sharp eyes were soon drawn to movement behind Rolo and he watched as a female alien joined them with a sealed crate and a small robot at her side.
The robot beeped in excitement when it noticed Pidge and she squealed in response, dropping to her knees as it rolled over to her and playfully bumped against her side until she enveloped it in a one-armed hug.
“It's good to see you too, Beezer! How's the best robot in the whole universe?”
Beezer gave a series of different toned beeps in response.
Nyma watched on with amusement. “Sometimes I think the salvage is just an excuse to see him.”
Pidge was too busy holding a conversation with the robot, though Keith couldn't help bu wonder if she actually understood the little guy or if it was entirely one-sided.
Rolo cleared his throat in an attempt to get her attention. “That's not the only rumor we've heard, though the next one have been dismissed as too far-fetched so far. Nyma overheard this one during our stopover at the Fripping Bulgogian. Seems a couple of Galra had a bit too much to drink.”
“They say you've agreed to marry the Galra prince to fully establish ties between Daibazaal and Voltron,” Nyma said, sounding surprisingly uneasy with the idea. “It's not true, is it, Pidge?”
Pidge looked away and that was all the confirmation Nyma needed.
“Be careful, okay? Prince Keithir is said to be kinder than his brother, but that doesn't mean you aren't treading dangerous waters. Getting between them is risky.”
Pidge's shoulder throbbed painfully, as if echoing Nyma's concerns. “Yeah, I know. I'll be careful.” She gave Beezer one last affectionate pat and then stood up. “Anything I can do for you two while you're here?”
“If you could, ask Hunk to come down and help me give this baby a look over,” Rolo requested. “I think she's overdue for a tune up.”
“Sure,” Pidge responded, stepping forward to retrieve the crate of parts from Nyma. She hesitated upon realizing she didn't have a good way to carry it back to the Castle by herself.  She could feel her cheeks heating up as she looked to Keith for help. “Could you...?”
Keith looked a little startled at being asked, but walked over and picked up the crate with ease.
After that, they said their goodbyes and began the long trek back to the Castle.
“Thanks for carrying that for me,” Pidge said after several minutes had passed.
“You're welcome. How were you planning on getting it back by yourself, anyway?” he asked.
“I, uh, didn't really think about that, I guess,” she responded, unable to look at him. “Normally they don't have this much for me and I can just carry it back in my pockets or in a small bag.”
Keith hummed and didn't say anything else for a few minutes until another question struck him. “What's all of this for?”
Pidge instantly brightened at being asked about her projects, something few people dared to bring up anymore. “Some of it's so I can finish my repairs on Rover! Oh, Rover's this Galra sentry that I found and decided to rebuild. He's going to help me around the hangar and keep Hunk from borrowing my things without permission. I've just about got him working properly, but he's not quite there yet. Last time I turned him on he chased Hunk around the room until I told him to stop!” She laughed at the memory. “The rest is for a miniature anti-gravity machine! Ages ago, I found these cute little fuzzy aliens floating around in a scrapyard and brought a few of them back to the Castle with me. The problem is, I can't turn off the gravity in my room, which means all they can do now is crawl around. But, if I can generate an energy field  small enough that it won't interfere with anything else...”
Keith was content to listen to her babble on about her plans, enjoying the way her face lit up as she spoke. He'd been a little taken aback at first. He hadn't expected her to dive right in and explain it with such eagerness. Not to him.
It was clear her tech was something she was very passionate about and in a small way it reminded him of his mother.
Pidge talked the entire way back to the Castle, and while most of it went right over his head, Keith managed to think of a few relevant questions to ask along the way. It was for that reason that Pidge invited him inside of her hangar instead of having him drop it off just inside the door.
“Want to meet Rover?” Pidge asked, already heading towards her workbench.
Keith heard her question, but stood just inside the room, frozen in place at the sight of the Green Lion. He knew the Lions were massive, but to actually see one in person...
Golden eyes seemed to bore straight into his blue-violet ones, almost as if the Lion could see directly into his soul. He shuddered at the thought.
“Greenie, behave,” Pidge called out.
The staring lessened somewhat and Keith willed his legs to move. He carried the crate to the desk and put it down where Pidge told him to, but before he could excuse himself to try and get away from the Green Lion, a pyramid-shaped object flew into his arm and beeped indignantly. And then it repeated the process.
“Like I said,” Pidge said, grabbing Rover before he could carry on. “It's a work-in-progress. I'll have him working perfectly soon.”
Keith watched her gently caress the tiny drone before shutting it down and he couldn't help but smile at her treatment of it. It seemed there was more to her than he'd imagined.
“I found the perfect place to practice!” Allura happily said to Lance, before dragging him from the comfort of the couch and the middle of a huge boss battle.
“But my high score!” he yelped, fumbling with the controller. His head drooped in defeat when it fell from his hands and clattered to the floor.
Lance let Allura drag him down the hall and into a room that was no longer in use. He and Pidge had once tried to turn it into a yoga studio for a bit of lighter exercise, but it didn't last longer than a week.
“So what are we practicing?”
Allura let go of him and gracefully spun around, her hair flowing around her like a rippling silver river. “Dancing, of course! You did say you'd help me so I can properly teach Pidge, remember?”
The memory was coming back to him and Lance grinned as his excitement rose to match hers.
“I know Coran is a little busy today, preparing for Slav's arrival, but I thought we could at least get started with the basics. Once you've got that down, it will be easier to understand what Coran is telling you to do,” Allura said. She held her hands out to Lance, inviting him closer. “Shiro once taught me your Earth 'waltz' and I've found it quite similar to the Galran akríg, so we'll start there.”
Lance hesitantly got into place, his nervousness bleeding from every movement he made. “Like this?”
Allura hummed and adjusted his hand on her waist before beaming up at him. “Perfect! Now, if I remember correctly, you lead.”
“O-oh, right,” Lance stammered, taking another moment before guiding Allura in small, cautious steps. “I think it's like this? Sorry, it's been a while.”
“You're doing fine,” Allura told him.
Emboldened by her confidence in him, Lance relaxed, his movements growing more confident with every minute that passed. Soon, they were gliding around the room, both smiling and carrying on a conversation about how well they thought Shiro was handling getting stuck transporting Slav by himself.
“I feel like he's cooking up a horrific training exercise for us at this very moment,” Lance said with a shiver.
“Only if he hasn't thrown himself out of the Black Lion to escape,” Allura joked.
“You should've gone with him,” Lance told her. “You could've spared him from such a horrible fate and gotten to spend an entire day alone with him in the cockpit, just the two of you.” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. “Romantic.”
Allura rolled her eyes, a dark blush settling over her cheeks at the insinuation. She made no attempt to deny his words as she normally would. “I had considered...” She stopped herself with a shake of her head. “It wouldn't be appropriate. This is for the best, at least for now. Perhaps after the wedding.”
“Do you really want to wait that long?” Lance asked, all trace of playful banter gone. He swallowed a wave of bitterness at the reminder of the situation Pidge had gotten into. “Pidge got you two a second chance. You can't throw that away. You and Shiro... you two are perfect for each other. It's the sort of relationship that people dream about having. So to see you two dance around it, knowing that you both feel the same, it's hard to watch.
“There's always a risk with dating. It... It changes everything and if it doesn't work out, it never goes back to exactly the way it was before. But if you don't take that risk, you might miss out on something wonderful,” Lance said, his voice low. “I was petrified when I realized I was in love with Hunk – in love with my best friend. It could have ruined everything. I was so sure of it. And then... and then that mission happened and all I could think was that I never had the chance to tell him how I really feel and it almost killed me inside.
“So don't wait, Allura. Don't wait until it's almost too late.”
The healing pods were fixed and the twitch in Shiro's right eye promised retribution to his fellow Paladins. Pidge chose to abscond the moment Ulaz proclaimed her shoulder fully healed, abandoning her leader before he could convince her to remain with him while Slav went on about proper pod maintenance and potential improvements.
She would usually be tempted to stick around longer. As crazy as he was, Slav had one of the most brilliant minds she had ever come across and when he actually stayed on topic, talking to him was enjoyable. But she had other plans. Plans she had set into motion earlier that day and was actually kind of excited about.
Up until that point, Keithir had been the one to invite her on their dates. First had been the dinner disaster and then there was the garden stroll, which started out decently, but ended worse than the first. They'd spent several evenings talking in his quarters under the watchful eyes of Thace, but she wasn't counting those as proper dates.
“Third time's the charm,” she said to herself as she walked into the kitchen.
Predictably, Hunk was there, putting the finishing touches on the food she'd asked for. He looked up when she entered and broke out into a huge smile. “You're healed!”
She playfully flexed her left arm, taking delight in the freedom she'd regained. She swore she would never take the cryo-pods for granted again.
“I'm one-hundred percent back to normal!” Pidge said as she joined him at the counter. She breathed in deeply, melting at the delicious smells. “Have I mentioned that you're the best friend ever? Because this is incredible, Hunk.”
Hunk blushed at the praise. “It is pretty great, isn't it,” he said, looking over his hard work with pride. “I hope you don't mind, but I'm borrowing your dinner idea for me and Lance. I found this really cute spot in the southeastern part of the gardens where you get a good view of sunfall and I'm going to surprise him.”
“Aww, that's so sweet!” Pidge said sincerely.
Together the pair packed two picnic baskets, carefully arranging the food inside so nothing would get crushed. Some of it was left behind for Allura and Shiro to enjoy, just in case they decided against joining the King and Queen for dinner.
While Hunk went to track down Lance and whisk him away for a surprise romantic dinner, Pidge gathered up her courage and headed to the room Keithir had been given.
He was waiting for her outside the door, quietly talking to the Blade who was there to protect him. He looked annoyed by something, his ears flicked back as he crossed his arms over his chest, but the moment he caught sight of her, that all went away and an expression of pure awe took its place.
Pidge shoved aside her impulse to look down. She'd worn her new dress knowing the sort of reaction it might bring. Maybe she should have listened to Allura's warning and saved it to wear another time.
The masked Blade roughly nudged Keithir when he continued to stare, knocking the prince from his stupor.
“You, um, look nice,” Keithir said awkwardly.
“Thanks,” Pidge said. She wanted to scream at herself for being so nervous about talking to him. What was it about calling it a date that always rendered them unable to function properly? She ducked her head as she felt her cheeks start to heat up and had to shift the basket from one hand to another as her palms started to sweat.
The simple movement spurred Keithir into action, years of training kicking in. “Here, may I?” he asked, gesturing to the basket.
Pidge almost insisted on carrying it herself, but something about the way he asked, so uncertain, left her feeling okay about handing it over to him.
It wasn't about strength or weakness. It was an offering to help, if she wanted it.
If Keithir thought he'd been nervous before, both of their previous dates paled in comparison to Katie leading him down to her hangar, where the Green Lion silently sat. The great beast made him unexpectedly anxious, as he doubted it would take kindly to his unintended double life and Keith and Keithir.
Katie, luckily, didn't pick up on his inner turmoil, and in fact looked wrapped up in her own thoughts as she nibbled on her lower lip.
It wasn't just the Green Lion that had his stomach twisted in knots. Seeing Pidge in that beautiful shade of deep purple (Daibazaal's royal color), it suddenly struck home that in a few short months he would be married to that clever, brilliant woman. She would be the one he would spend the rest of his life with.
They entered the hangar and, as before, Keithir's body froze up the moment he set eyes on the Green Lion. He could hear the whisper of a question in his head – an utterly foreign and bizarre feeling – but it was gone before he could rationalize it.
“Keithir, are you okay?” Katie asked.
Keithir tore his gaze away from the Lion, glad to find he could move once again. “I'm fine.”
She studied him closely for a moment and then let go of whatever question she had building in her mind. “I know it's not the most traditional picnic, but after last time I thought this might be safer. I tried to make it as comfortable as I could. Allura helped.” She turned and gestured to the floor behind her, where a green-and-white checkered blanket had been spread out over a mat.
It was simple. Relaxed. The exact opposite of how he'd been taught a proper date should be when wooing a lady.
Keithir loved it.
“It's perfect,” he told her and was rewarded with one of her bright smiles.
The two made themselves comfortable on the cushioned blanket and Katie started unpacking the basket, handing things to Keithir to arrange between them.
“Sorry about Regris,” he apologized. “Kolivan still has him on guard duty, just in case.”
Katie sat up as she removed the plates from the bottom of the basket and handed one of them to him. “Your safety is important, especially since we still don't know how the sniper got in or out of the Castle. At least you don't have to be within sight of him at all times when you're inside, right?”
“True,” Keithir agreed, thankful that his friend could be reasoned with. He doubted Regris really wanted to stand by and watch them on their date, no matter how much the older Galra liked to tease him about doing so.
He waited until Pidge opened the first container and began spooning out food for herself and then picked a box of tiny breads stuffed with what he thought might be meat of some kind.
Their conversation continued along those lines, as they compared notes on what they'd been told of the new security measures. From there, they moved onto the planets they missed visiting the most, but would be unlikely to see again for some time.
As the last bit of food was eaten, their simple date started to wind down and Keithir helped her clean up whatever he could.
“Can I ask you something?” Katie asked, out of the blue. “I've been wondering for a while now, but... why did you agree to this? I did it so Allura wouldn't marry Lotor, because she deserves to be with someone who makes her happy and I... Well, I could do something to make sure that would happen, so I did it. But you...”
Keithir took a moment to collect his thoughts. He had been wondering when she would ask and had been so sure that he was prepared for it, but all of his good excuses fled his mind as she looked at him with those big brown eyes. “Lotor and I got along once, but that was a long time ago. At some point, he decided I would be a hindrance to his plans, whatever they are, which makes me expendable.
“So I decided to do everything I can to get in his way,” Keithir admitted. “I'm sorry you got mixed up in this, Katie. I never meant for anyone else to get involved.”
He wasn't sure how she would take it.
Thace and Ulaz had lectured him about needlessly endangering himself when he told them. Regris had (affectionately, in a way) called him an idiot. Kolivan's response had been to push him even harder in training, determined to see his youngest Blade thrive.
Katie huffed in amusement and reached fr her half-full glass of juice, lifting it in his direction. “Here's to getting involved in dangerous situations most people try to avoid.”
Keithir gently clinked his glass against hers.
Upon reflection, several months later, he would realize that was the moment he started to fall for her.
Lotor was less than pleased with the way his plans were turning out.
After months of subtly influencing members of his father's council, he'd finally had Allura within his grasp, only to have her snatched away thanks to his so-called brother and that annoyingly clever Green Paladin.
He'd hoped to settle the matter and get his plans back on track by taking Keithir out of the picture, but once again that child got in his way. His only consolation was that Ezor had managed to successfully sabotage the healing pods for long enough that the paladin had to suffer the pain of her injury.
Perhaps he'd acted too rashly, allowing his rage to swallow him for a brief time. He would do better in the future.
Lotor silently watched his team of elite fighters banter with each other, all of them feeling the stress of the past few weeks. With Acxa's failure to kill Keithir and being spotted by the Altean guards while helping her escape (forcing her and Ezor to take care of the guards so they could never speak of what they saw), they were all waiting for the inevitable punishment.
It wouldn't come.
The two of them, as well as Narti and Zethrid, were completely loyal to him and him alone. Criticism would be enough to inspire them to do better.
“Zethrid, I have a mission for you,” Lotor said, a slow smirk curving across his face. A success would do well for morale and he had the perfect idea. “I think you'll enjoy this one.”

If Zarkon didn't treat the working class as equals to him (as seen with him scolding the first Blue Paladin for socializing with a servant) then wouldn't marrying Honerva, a scientist, be considered beneath him? Unless Honerva is from nobility scientists are technically a working class.
Well, that’s actually part of my rationale that Honerva and Alfor might have been siblings, and the paladins of old all being royalty or analogous leaders, Zarkon was content viewing them as closer subordinates.
Alternatively, Alfor did say he never expected Zarkon to marry at all, much less an Altean alchemist, and I think it’s entirely possible that if Honerva is related to Alfor, it seems like Allura gets her royal lineage from her mom given that she and her mother are both crowned, while Alfor never wears a crown and tends to dress and present himself more humbly- even before becoming red paladin he’s used to being the “right hand” of someone else which would seem to imply something about his relationship with his wife.
So that means if Honerva and Alfor are related, Honerva’s close enough to the royal family that Zarkon would have a route in, in that he wouldn’t consider it improper to engage with her at all, but she’s still ostensibly a commoner- and given Honerva’s attitude, I don’t think she would want to be judged by anything other than her own research and projects.
If Honerva was at least somewhat of lower status (and Zarkon being Emperor of Daibazaal is a pretty tough act to follow) it’d explain why Alfor, who said earlier he thought it’d be a good idea for Zarkon to let down his flagrant classism high standards of decorum, saw his union with Honerva as such a warm, heartening thing.
And if Honerva was related to Alfor, then it’d certainly be a further explanation for why, so soon after their marriage, Alfor brought the baby Allura to show Zarkon- because if Zarkon just wed Alfor’s sister, they’re family now and Zarkon deserves to meet his niece-in-law. Which, putting it that way, makes it entirely understandable that Coran would omit that little detail in s3e7 because Allura really doesn’t need to be reminded that her aunt tried to murder her on multiple occasions.

I was thinking about how Kallura wedding would be and I'm sure Allura would want her dress to follow altean style.
Bride wearing all white doesn't seem to be a thing since Honerva's dress had purple over it. She also wore a veil and had a yellow ribbon/sash.
Tumblr media
Allura's dress could be a mix of white, blue and pink. Or maybe mostly blue with a pink sash. Or the other way around.
Keith would be like Zarkon and wear an armor and cape (and have the same tender look on his face)
