The other thing is how they jumped to living together lmao. It's not like they took their "evidence" and said wait they might be dating. No, they literally skipped all that and said it was confirmed they are living together. It was so over the top for no reason.

Just in general, the way this whole rumour was framed like "they're living together and she's been sending hints" is so.. fictional. I don't care about debunking or whatever, because I really don't mind if he's dating or not. But as I've said a lot of times, I'm going to need more than this weird rumour that doesn't even make sense with the type of person Jimin has proved to be all these years. I don't think anyone who loves and respects you would purposefully do something that goes against what's important to you. In any case make, they could've said it seems like she's been posting without realizing what it could mean or whatever, not that she's "giving hints".

All of Jimin's "dating" rumours have always been started by taekookers or tae/kook akgaes, that's why nobody ever knows about them and they aren't even credible. Also notice how they were going around Jimin blogs sending the same copypasted ask about how it's been "confirmed" the days leading up to Jimin's birthday and then it literally died? They stopped trying after his birthday, they wanted it to stick because they thought people would be talking about that and not his birthday.

Hmm, yeah, that about sums up my writing! ^_^ I love to make them get together, and I love their to be misunderstandings and pining but not enough that it's incompatible with a fluffy tone, and I love to steal and tweak the plot of an episode in order to do all of that haha. (Actually, honestly I'm surprised that established relationship is in the top 5 lmao, I feel like I write mostly getting together fics, but I guess that my own impression of my body of work is a little bit off! I do also love it when they are already together and get put into a Situation. <3)

the reason why kazekage rescue arc sakura is simply The Best is bc it’s what kishimoto originally wanted her to become!!!!! that’s the arc where she showcases what kind of shinobi she’s grown into over the timesmil- a talented, skilled, hardworking, chivalrous, brave, determined “hell of a girl”. that’s sakura!!! that was supposed to be shippuden sakura!!! like how do you do that and then make her regress into a flat version of her part1 self🤨

Sometimes, I ask myself if Kishimoto really wrote Sakura in this arc bc everything is just so amazing? It's the first time he gave her the treatment she always deserved as a heroine, as a main character. Unfortunately for us, it never happened again. She was handled so poorly after this and I wish I could protect her from this shit writing.

What do you think about war arc!Sakura? I see a lot of fans saying that Kishimoto gave her justice after sidelined her so much but I feel like even though it wasn't as bad like her portray on Iron Land arc(literally her worst writting imo) it's still bad as f*ck!

i really think the kazekage arc was kishimoto’s moment of clarity when it came to writing sakura lol because it’s all very logical and organic. we had it ALL!!!!!!! sakura taking a moral stand, sakura sacrificing herself and embodying her principles to the point where sasori had to run into chiyo’s blades due to his worldview being so shaken, sakura facing an astronomically stronger oponent and overcoming her fear of him, sakura being praised BY that opponent AND her comrade (who is also a A class shinobi), sakura basically extracting valuable intel on orochimaru (to be fair that intel was offered to her by her dying enemy as the reward for beating him), she! was! the! moment!

the war arc sakura is? okay? i mean no different from the rest of the series really :/ i liked the part where she aided obito and helped sasuke out of the desert dimension, that was cool

i didn’t like the reprise of the ‘’you can watch my back’’ it was honestly humiliating and it’s almost as if kishimoto wanted the audience to say ‘’uhhhhh no you haven’t caught up with them you silly bitch??’’ because there is still a CHASM between her and her teammate’s abilities in terms of power. like why would kishimoto even give her that copypasted, unearned power up if he was just going to let her be saved by naruto and sasuke again lol... but i mean it’s the old formula of his, a woman who’s supposed to be powerful is used to showcase how powerful some other male character is. i swear i’m not reading sexism into this and i’m not trying to hate on kishimoto, but that’s literally what happens (kurenai vs itachi, tsunade vs kabuto, konan vs obito, hinata vs pain) even sasori v sakura and chiyo, as much as i loved it, ended with sasori killing himself basically lmao

what i’m trying to say with this word vomit is that i didn’t care what sakura’s power level is. i didn’t care for her to get power ups, or even catch up to naruto and sasuke. i never wanted a girlboss sakura, i wanted a sakura who wasn’t a bump in the narrative road. she was one of the main characters, and was literally the ONLY ONE without a backstory, without a clear cut motivation (that didn’t have anything to do with either naruto or sasuke), without an arc, and without any bearing on the course of the story

her character still resonates with me and she’s still my fave tho!

I can see Jensen not telling J*red even if they are still friends, because J*red is kinda good at accidentally telling Secrets. He could have told him right before he announced it so, so that J*red didn't have to find out from twitter. He was on the show for 15 years, he is bound to get asked about it. The public twitter meltdown was really unprofessional so. Like you have Jensen's number J*red. You could have sorted that out in private like a normal person, but instead you choose to act like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

Is it weird that I'm actually going to be kinda that for them if the actually had a falling out, even tho I don't like J*red all that much. They seemed to be really important to each other and while I thought before that the might have triefted apart a bit, I didn't think that the where actively fighting.

now listen. i LOVE berserk and when i watched the 90s anime i binged the whole thing in two days because ive got no self control. but i feel like the eclipse has taken a harsh toll on me and i coudlnt handle it. ive tried to read further on from the manga and i dont think i can bear with how violent it seems to get from there on out- but i find myself obsessing over griffiths character and i feel like i have to know what happens next. how do i cope with this pain ???

oof that’s a tough one.

Honestly if it’s the violence in general, yk sword swinging and blood and guts and whatnot then I think you’re kind of out of luck unfortunately. There’s the 2016/17 anime which covers some of the post-eclipse stuff, which might be easier to watch in terms of violence because... it sucks lmao, the animation is awful so the violence might be harder to take seriously. but hey afaik it does tell a chunk of the rest of the story, so maybe it’s an option.

But otherwise it’s just impossible to skip the violence because it’s so constant in the story, and many important things happen during violent scenes.

On the other hand, if it’s specifically the sexual violence that’s hard for you to take, I might actually be able to help: I already have a big list of content warnings with manga page numbers written up that I made for someone else.

I’ll copypaste it here under a cut on the offchance that it helps. And if there’s anything specific other than sexual violence you want warned for, like suicide or self-harm or non-sexual parental abuse, just send me another ask and I’ll try my best. But yeah, gore in general is just too prevalent.

Also I wrote this for someone unfamiliar with the whole story so you can probably skip the golden age stuff if you’re not reading it.

Just so you know going in, this mainly just focuses on visual depictions of sexual assault. I don't think I could write a guide that covers every rape threat or mention or insinuation, in part because I'd have to re-read the story front to back, and also because like, significant plot points revolve around threats and discussions of rape so it's not really possible to skip a lot of it.

Chapter and page numbers are taken from the scans on mangasee and probably won't match the physical volumes. (They changed some of the formatting on the site recently, hopefully that doesn’t affect the page numbers but apologies if it does)

Black Swordsman arc:

nothing that i can remember. the story opens with Guts fucking a monster before killing her but the sex is consensual lol.

Golden Age arc:

Guts is raped as a child by Donovan, who tells Guts that Gambino sold him to him. ch 9, pg 44 - ch 10, pg 15

Guts has a nightmare about it ch 13, pg 2 - 9 If you skip this, it's worth knowing that guilt for killing Gambino features heavily in this nightmare, and that as he wakes up the monstrous representation of Donovan shifts into Casca who is lying on top of him. Guts is close to panicking as he wakes up before realizing that Casca is a woman. She's gone when he fully wakes up on page 10.

brace yourself for rape threats towards casca in ch 15

A nobleman attempts to rape Casca in a flashback to her childhood, Griffith interrupts the attempt by slicing off his ear ch 16, pg 13 - 14 If you skip this it's worth noting that Casca's reaction is helpless acceptance and believing it's natural.

ch 17 as a whole is p heavy with discussions of pedophilia and graphic self harm, but the csa isn't graphic and it's not really skippable anyway, just something worth bracing for.

Casca's pursuers catch her and attempt to rape her ch 20, pg 18 - 21 Casca fights off her attacker on pg 21

brace yourself for Gennon's return at the end of chapter 23

end of chapter 37 - halfway through ch 38 This whole sex scene with Charlotte is really fucked up, it's treated like consensual sex by the narrative but Charlotte says "no" early on before getting into it. I wouldn't skip it, there's some important emotional stuff here that's hard for me to convey, but I'd be aware going in that Miura is leaning heavily on v misogynist tropes in this scene.

discussion of incest ch 39, pg 7

incestuous rape attempt ch 39, pg 15 - 19 and ch 40, pg 2 - 7 (I wouldn't recommend skipping the 2 pages in between which return to Griffith in the torture chamber) And if you do skip this the things worth knowing are that Charlotte fights off the king and screams for Griffith to help her, upon which the king abandons the attempt and flees.

ch 46, pg 15 - ch 47, pg 5 Guts has a graphic flashback to his rape during sex with Casca and strangles her.

might want to brace yourself for the torturer being v suggestively creepy to Griffith in his scenes, particularly in chapter 54, but there's nothing explicit there

Wyald begins to choke a woman he was seemingly having consensual sex with ch 58 pg 20 the entire sex scene is ch 58 pg 18-20 if you skip it the only mildly important part is that Wyald mentions he already has business with Griffith to take care of, suggesting many or all apostles are aware he has the crimson behelit

ch 59, pg 16 graphic rape in the last panel. i'd recommend reading the rest of the page and just not scrolling down, last panel just describes how the black dog knights would rape women and murder children etc.

ch 59, pg 25-26 graphic rape

ch 60, pg 1-2, and pg 9-10 dismembered bodies skewered on swords, the imagery is p sexually violent if you skip it, guts thinks to himself that wyald's troops are being driven by fear. wyald attacks him with a body on his sword, which guts notices and which informs his outrage

implied rape threat ch 63, pg 18 - 19

rape attempt ch 64 pg 9 - 17, though Casca's torn clothes unfortunately remain throughout the rest of the Wyald fight, and Guts' response to her is terrible If you skip, Griffith sees Wyald grab Casca and tries to get to her despite not being able to walk, Guts eventually wakes up and saves her, nothing else of note

ch 68, from pg 15 to end of scene Wyald strips and humiliates Griffith, it's not overtly sexual and it's not skippable but it might be something you want to be prepared for

ch 71, pg 4 - 7 Griffith makes a sexual advance on Casca. It's not a rape attempt, he stops when she says stop, but it's wordless and might be another thing worth being warned for going in

ch 72 pg 10 - 13 Another one that's not really overt and not skippable but is just kind of vaguely sexual in a disturbing way. Griffith's nightmare sequence of a life with Casca suggests they have a kid together while Griffith is pretty far removed from reality, can't talk, and can barely move

ch 81, pg 21 - 22 The monster rape begins, nothing of value is lost if you skip these pages.

ch 85, pg 8 - 16 More monster rape

ch 86, pg 11 - ch 87, pg 16 Femto rapes Casca in a horrifically grautitous and eroticized rape scene in which the focus is entirely on Guts' feelings as he's forced to watch, with nothing from Casca's point of view. it's bad.

Realistic ways to show a character is multilingual through dialogue (based on the things my family and I actually do):

Confusion with verb conjugation in English (almost exclusively with irregular verbs)

Purposely saying basic phrases/words in another language (hi, bye, let’s go, etc.)

Saying things in their native language with a bad English accent

Saying things in English with a bad native lx accent

Baby-speaking to animals/infants in their native lx

Mixing languages only with people who speak both languages--this could mean asking a question in one language and getting the answer in another, using one word from one language in a sentence otherwise constructed in the other, or switching languages halfway in a sentence (a notable one I used recently to my mother was “wanna дај ми?”)--done most commonly to shorten the number of syllables, and will only be used otherwise if the person doesn’t know/remember how to say it completely in one of the languages

Speaking non-English in public places with another native lx speaker as a means of privacy (also works the other way around in a native lx public place) Sidenote: this isn’t only done when discussing something private/embarrassing/etc., I do it all the time with my family simply because what I want to say is only for their ears and doesn’t matter to the other people around us

Teaching their non-native-lx-speaking friends words/phrases from their native lx (more often than not just to make fun of the pronunciation, English speakers have a surprising difficulty rolling rs lmao)

Accidentally slipping into their native lx when trying to speak another secondary language. Accidental slips into native lx from English (assuming the chara lives in an English language community) are incredibly rare, however accidentally switching between two secondary-use languages are embarrassingly common (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve slipped into Macedonian during French class, or how many times I’ve responded to my Macedonian grandmother in French)

Slips in English happen essentially in one of two scenarios. One: the speaking multilingual character is a child and “”accidentally”” slipped into another language (this happens all the time and is purposeful, but once again only younger kids do this to try and show off that they’re multilingual). And two: it’s a knee-jerk reaction, pretty much exclusively a single word/short phrase. An example that happened to me was when someone stepped into danger without realising and I accidentally yelled “watch out!” to them in the wrong language

Teaching people they’re close with sayings/turns-of-phrase in their native lx. After it’s been explained to non-speakers, they might use the phrase wherever English fails them

Trying to figure out words/phrases from a language of the same family using their language. I’m always using my French to try and decipher Spanish and Italian lol (ofc make sure the roots of the words are similar in both languages: the difference between Macedonian колена and Russian коленный is negligible, the difference between Spanish olas and French vagues is not)

Cursing, on occasion. I don’t usually curse/interject in another language unless I’m alone or I’m in my native lx mindset. So like, if I’m at home and thinking in Macedonian, I’d be most likely to interject in Macedonian, then if I’m alone (or I don’t think anyone’s listening) it’d be kind of a toss-up depending on where my head is, and if I’m around English speakers I’d likely opt for a “fuck” or “damn” rather than a “леле” or “ајајај”

Talking themselves through tasks. Ex. I always ask “кај си, кај си, кај си...” when I’m digging through my bag for my keys. Again, this is mostly just because it’s shorter to say that than “where are you, where are you, where are you...”

Tips and pointers for making the inclusion flow well with the story:

Use these indicators sparingly, especially if you’re not multilingual. People who already speak multiple languages will have a better feel for when it is/isn’t likely for language switches to happen, so my advice is that if you’re not sure, err on the side of caution, and it will be a helluva lot more realistic, as well as less of a pain for your readers to sift through.

If you need to provide translation, it’s likely that you’re overusing the non-English language. Listen, it’s great if you want to write multilingual characters speaking their native lxs, I love seeing representation of that in fiction!!! However, if I’m having to switch tabs five times a chapter to Google Translate, it’s gonna throw me out of the story. Moreover, to someone who does speak the language, it might throw them out of the story if they’re reading something that’s clearly been shoved into Google Translate and copypasted (and trust me it’s incredibly evident when something’s been Google Translated without being edited.)

Multilingual people only really speak their other languages to non-speakers they’re comfortable with. Unless I’m close to someone, I seldom ever use my other languages when speaking to them. The only times I really do is when I forget they don’t speak the language (like with my non-speaking dad bc I’m so used to talking Macedonian at home), or when I’m really struggling for a word with a close friend and only remember it in another language. I’ve seen it’s a common thing for a multilingual character to talk about non-speakers they’ve just met to their face in their language which is a thing... none of us do, honestly. There’s no point to talk to someone in our native lx if we don’t think they can speak it lmao.

Don’t be afraid to write multilingual characters who aren’t wholly/evenly fluent in their native lx. A lot of the time, people who are born and raised in English-dominant countries are a lot more fluent in English than their native lx. Really, if they character doesn’t have a non-English accent, it’s more likely than not that English is their strongest language, and given that they’d only practice their native lx at home (unless they’re taking formal classes), it’s likely they’re not as fluent as you’re imagining them. Honestly, most second-generation immigrants (or people who immigrated as infants) who speak a non-English language at home can hardly speak a phrase, and are a lot stronger at listening and understanding than speaking. In my experience, this goes especially so for non-European languages (if I were to hazard a guess this is either because of the differences between non-Euro language structure and English linguistic structure, or prejudice against languages that sound too “ethnic,” or likely a mixture of both.) However, this happens less in areas of higher concentration of a non-English (or, as is the case in Canada, non-official-language) language. For example, I live in an area with a higher Chinese population than the national average, and a lot of the second-generation children I see speak a dialect of Chinese with their parents as well as any other kids who speak it. In addition, make sure you decide how fluent the character is gonna be at the start, and make it consistent.

As with any other element of your story, if you want to do it justice you’re going to have to do a little bit of research into it. Research doesn’t have to be daunting, though: listening to songs in your target language is a great way to figure out how sentences are roughly constructed in that lx, digging up your old class notes if you have them can also do you a world of good, and there are shows like One Day at a Time (on Netflix) that provide really good insight to when and how multilingual speakers use their language. Like, I can’t force you to do extra work for your story--I mean you might not even find it worth the effort, which is fine--but if you really want it to read well then you have to research it. Hell, I wouldn’t write a story with hockey in it if I didn’t get some insight into hockey, and if I didn’t do my research then it’d be pretty clear to someone who does know hockey that I’m talking out my ass.

Miles is much more affectionate in public, but even then it depends on where exactly they are? Even if they’re at Briggs and everyone knows about them, they’re both still going to remain as professional as possible. If they’re walking about in Central, for a meeting, for example, and they’re in street clothes or something he’ll be much more affectionate. When they’re in public and in uniform (even if not in an actual work setting), he tries to refrain from being all mushy because Olivier kind of views it as disrespecting the uniform.

In private, though, Olivier loves being as affectionate as possible because she loves to see Miles get all flustered haha. He kind of short-circuits if Olivier just starts smothering him in kisses and touches and she just loves laughing about it all.

Sometime’s she’ll like do small things in public like grab his ass when no one’s looking just because she loves seeing him fail to function afterwards.

♡: who is the bigger romantic openly? secretly?

This is probably mostly the same as the affection in public/private, but Miles is more openly romantic. He’s not afraid to leave her flowers and stuff at her desk (she doesn’t hate flowers if they’re from him, it’s like an inside joke between them), but on the other hand she’ll do things in secret for him. Like if they’re at Central in a hotel for a meeting (God knows they aren’t going to stay at the Armstrong manor) and he’s there by himself while Olivier’s out, she’ll make sure to order good food and other stuff for him. She’ll always ask for there to be a little note left on the room service tray that says “from Olivier” with a little heart.

Then again, she’s sort of a hopeless romantic and she doesn’t know how to express it very well without open affection, so he’s often the more romantic one in general anyway.

❥: who is more likely to plan something big for valentine’s day?

While Miles loves planning things for them, for Valentine’s Day specifically, Olivier’s gonna fucking go all-out. It’s rare, but she likes going over the top for things like that, so she’ll arrange whole romantic evenings for them and she’ll do all her work plus Miles’s so they can take a night off and just be together.

She’s very sneaky hehe, Miles instead will outright ask her and plan things with her but she’s very secretive about it

ღ: who is more likely to initiate hand-holding in public?

Definitely Miles. He loves holding her hand, and it’s the one public form of affection she’s always willing to do when they’re in uniform but not specifically working. They both just really enjoy the contact and reassurance that the other is there, next to them.

💕: who is more likely to make huge declarations of love in front of other people?

They’re honestly both pretty reserved about big declarations of love in public, but even so, it’ll have to be Miles once again– though he’d never want to make Olivier uncomfortable, so he always asks her first before doing something like that.

It’s rare that she says no, though.

💘: who developed a crush on the other first?

Miles– he immediately thought she was beautiful when he first saw her, and though it was technically attraction at first sight for him, it wasn’t necessarily love. He mainly just felt an immense respect and draw towards her– Olivier’s a dangerous person and it can be dangerous to fall in love with her haha, especially if you’re someone like Miles in a country like Amestris. They’re both very emotionally-connected, so it took them a while of having deep friendship and loyalty to one another until they actually confessed their mutual love.

Olivier thought he was handsome, too, she just didn’t feel as strong of a magnetism at first.

💝: who spends more time (possibly overthinking) what presents to get the other?

I initially thought Olivier, but then I thought about it– I think Miles would actually overthink it more than her. Olivier is very hard to shop for, and despite knowing her very well, Miles just really wants to get her something she’ll really like.

Olivier on the other hand is very intuitive and locks onto something if Miles shows an intense interest in it, and from there she’s usually pretty good at picking out gifts for him.

💓: who initiates most physical contact?

While this goes more hand-in-hand with the affection again, I kinda view the phrase “physical contact” as being more emotionally intimate than affection for some reason? In this case, it’s Olivier (though we’re still talking in private, of course). Despite what a lot of people may think just by looking at her and knowing what kind of person she is, she’s a big cuddler. If her and Miles are together and he’s not busied with something, she wants to have that physical contact– even if its just sitting so close their sides touch or her hand is in his. She usually likes to sleep all curled up next to him with his arms around her, for example.

She’s very touchy-feely, and even though she’s three ranks below fuhrer, the contact brings her immense comfort and makes her feel safe.

Even in public, if they’re not already holding hands, she’ll often brush her hand against his when they’re next to each other. That way, it’s not an open display of affection, and she can even do it while working.

💌: who is more likely to send cutesy texts to the other?

While not necessarily cutesy, they’ll text each other a lot, even if it’s just asking how the other one is. They’re that couple who will text things like “be safe” and “call me when you’re home so I know you got there” and things like that. However, for cutesy texts, I’ll have to give it to Miles again. He knows she enjoys the reminders that he loves her, and he’ll often send her pictures of cute or lovey things and say it reminds him of her or even just “look it’s you” haha. She acts like she hates being compared to cute things, but he knows she enjoys the reminder that he’s thinking about her.

💟: who spends time reading their zodiac compatibilities?

I doubt either of them would believe it, but I think Miles would just think it’s cool to look at. Olivier, on the other hand, would just be like “why do you read that it’s all bullshit” haha

Oh god, Olivier haha. When they’re in public together and she sees another man or woman looking at him a certain way she’ll hold onto his arm tighter and just give the nastiest glare ever witnessed. Miles is protective too but he know Olivier won’t hesitate to tell off someone who’s flirting with her.

Just worth mentioning since they’re military characters. They’d obviously give their lives for each other in combat, but I feel like Olivier has the higher ground because she has more control over him? There will always be that commander-adjutant aspect of their relationship– and while he wants to follow orders, he’d rather say “we’ll die together, then” rather than “i’ll die in your place” like Olivier will insist. He can’t just offer his life like that in the same way she technically can because she wouldn’t let him. Idk what context this would be in but I’m sure you get the point lmao

💚: who tends to get sick more often? who is better at taking care of the other?

Olivier definitely gets sick more often, though one wouldn’t think, because she rarely lets it show. She overworks herself a lot, so mostly the sleep will be sleep-deprivation, and in that case, Miles insists she goes to bed and he take over work for her for a few days.

It also happens sometimes when they travel to Central– the weather change messes with her and she’ll feel crummy. Miles has had to take care of her so much, he’s really good at it by now xD;;

💜: who said “i love you” first? or, if neither has said it yet, who is more likely to say it first?

Miles. Olivier is so secretive about her feelings that, honestly, if he hadn’t said anything, she probably would’ve bottled it up forever. She’s never had a friendship as close as the one she had with Miles; she was afraid that a confession would ruin it and she’d lose her best friend and everything would go south if he didn’t reciprocate. Luckily, he said it first, to which she immediately confessed right back.

Miles; he was always rather spiritual about soulmates and love and he’s a firm believer that “there’s someone for everyone”, even just if on a platonic scale rather than romantic. He was kind of worried about it for a while since he hadn’t felt that deep of an emotional connection with anyone until he found Olivier. He was obviously very afraid of his feelings at first (I mean duh she’s a pure-blooded Amestrian AND a fucking major general, who wouldn’t) but he soon came to realize that they were so similar yet so different, so it must’ve been so.Olivier on the other hand was rather pessimistic about love, but she felt the same strange emotional attraction to him that he felt for her. After being with him for a while, she’s starting to believe in it too.

This interface is a mess. I move my mouse onto "exit lobby" and it turns into "kick player". Buttons just jump around and transform all the time.

And the APEX mission shit needs to be fixed. When you select a mission to play, don't direct me to lobbies who play the same enemy/map/difficulty but not as the mission! Join lobby, see "custom", exit lobby, select "custom game", re-select mission, join, end up in the same lobby, rinse, repeat...

At least I can end up second when I join on wave 5 as a human vanguard lol

Non-custom weapons of different rank shouldn't exist as separate items in the inventory! Unlocking a higher rank should upgrade the old item like in ME3! I crafted the N7 chestpiece! 25% shield on kill (of course), 5% damage resistance, 2% shield restoration, 2% health&shield regen speed, 2% max shield. I called it "N7 Slayer X". And turns out, it was dad's armor...

For the visitor who wanted contact with his family, I had to reload. The options didn't even seem too different... Got it right for the other two: gave an honest professional answer about health issues, and a confident casual answer about finding work.

Great, now I have to head back into the city to buy stuff... This is literally a fetch quest lol

Alright, this Ryder is not going to make Peebee sad, but I've already planned a Renegade-ish playthrough with a Ryder who values knowledge over everything, so... :D

(Btw, I love that MEA's brand of a more ruthless protagonist is not "uncontrollable brute" but "intellectual snob". As tedious as this game is, I'm already super eager to play character who has those values & takes urgency of tasks seriously.)

This mission is enjoyable and the choice feels maybe the most meaningful... But it has all the classic Mass Effect problems. Kalinda sends a shitload of people to murder us, we murder them, but when she's helpless and we have a finger on the trigger all of that suddenly doesn't matter. Sidonis all over again. Sure, murdering people begging for help is bad in a lot of ways, but she did just try to kill us, a lot of times... Plus, why the fuck can't Ryder jump over and catch the Remnant thing?! That needed to be a second, Paragon interrupt after the Renegade "shoot her." And Ryder is a goddamn biotic, as is Peebee, as is Kalinda! Peebee, Pull is your first goddamn skill! It'd actually be completely plausible if the artifact had shields and/or armor and therefore immune to Pull or Singularity -- but not giving the characters even an idea to try is just stupid!

Inviting Peebee to live with together made me revisit my room and inspired me to make some changes. You know what, I'm going to play music in my quarters and change into the short-sleeved pajamas. It's my own ship, why do I walk around it in street clothes? The jacket is stylish but too much to wear at home. I wish we had a "formal" outift for Nexus/Aya/other hubs in addition to the "casual" clothes we wear on the ship.

In theory Ryder should like Jaal for being such a nerd but the only thing he makes me feel is mild irritation. His interest in "taking things apart" is an informed quality just like his supposed emotional openness. It's not reflected in his dialogue or storyline at all.

And now I'm finished with all quests in the ally category. I wanted to finish the game asap, but now that we know the patch is coming on Thursday, I'll wait for it.

Extracted from Silver for the first time as Human Vanguard (level 8, rank IV)! It was against Remnant, so Observers and Destroyers were the only problem. Nullifiers are ridiculously easy for a melee character -- like Ravagers, but without acid.

Got Krogan Vanguard from a pack. Will I have to tolerate the Rage overlay?

The first game with Kroguard was going well, he's got a stong melee even though he's slow... and then wave 6/upload/Kett killed us all :(

Completely unrelated to anything, but I just realized that if you pick the romantic option in the escape pod with Peebee, they don't actually have sex. Call me stupid because that's what Peebee's initial condition is, but I thought Ryder's response changed her mind! When Ryder said "Let's not rush things" I interpreted and meant it in the emotional sense, as "It'd be dishonest to hide that I have a crush on you, but you don't owe me anything, and if you don't ready for a Serious Relationship and Grand Romance yet that's fine because I'm not either, so let's just hook up and leave reflection for later" -- which I thought was pretty sweet and interesting? Because this whole relationship to me was built on the fascinating contrast between Peebee's emotional reservations and casual/flirty attitude, and conversely, on Ryder very consciously respecting Peebee's emotional space. Maybe I just fundamentally don't understand sex and romance lmao. But if character A propositions character B, character B says they have feelings for character A, and the scene promptly fades to black, I assume they do the do because that's how these things are filmed? Only in comparison with the other option, which is actually pretty explicit, it became obvious to me that's not what the director meant. I'm pretty disappointed because I thought it was a good subversion of Jack's "either sex or romance" thing in ME2. And it messes with my headcanon/characterization... I guess I'll have to retcon it into one of the two options. I'll probably go with casual, not romantic in that case. But I just read that Peebee will tell you she's glad you said no, so... :/

Fanfic asks for the new year

I’ve seen a lot of ask memes focused on the past year, but none for what people are planning or hoping for in their writing in the new year. So here are a few questions that I thought of… feel free to add more!

1. Do you have a word-count goal for 2018? Nope

2. Will you participate in any fandom exchanges or fic challenges, etc? Depends on what’s being hosted, but probably at least 1, yeah. (oh hell, I just realized this was also about challenges, not just exchanges. Yes, I will be doing challenges... or signing up for them and failing to write things for 50-80% of them, as usual.)

3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom in 2018? Which one? Maybe, I don’t really know. I might pick up a new fandom or write for one I’ve liked for a long time but never written anything for. It’s hard to tell where my inspiration will take me.

4. Do you think you’ll stop writing for a fandom in 2018? Which one? As much as I would love to walk away from the Harry Potter fandom entirely... no, probably not.

5. Which WIP is first on your list to complete this year? Will you post a snippet? tbh, I have no PLANS to actually finish anything, but it would be nice to actually get any of my multichaps (besides drabble collections) updated again.

6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list? “In the Wings” a RWBY fake-dating AU with two fake couples trying to play wingman for each other.

7. Will you change anything about the way you interact with other writers? I am trying to leave more comments since I usually read without reviewing unless it’s for a review tag.

8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is 2018 the year? There are a ton of them, and no probably not.

9. Short term goals… what do you hope to complete this week or in January? I would really love to get the second chapter of “Mother of Little Bears” written but I’ve hit a mental block regarding that fic, so honestly just getting SOMETHING posted is my only goal at the moment. (My writing process is as much of a mess as everything else in my life....)

10. Will you keep a record of all the fics you write and/or post this year? Well.... the date they’re posted will be visible on FFN and AO3, but other than that... no. I don’t keep track.

I’m quickly realizing why most ask memes have 50 or 100 questions. Ten questions don’t go too far once multiple people start sending asks. I can’t think of 90 more questions, but here’s a few more:

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes in 2018? I’ve decided to branch out into fake-dating AU territory. XD

12. Will you change anything about the way you edit or rewrite in 2018? Nope

13. Aside from fanfic, are there any other fan works you’d like to try creating? Fanart, or fanvids, gifsets, or podfic? I customize dolls as fandom characters. My current project is Boa Hancock from One Piece. (I still haven’t found the right wig for her yet. *sigh*)

14. Have you ever lost large chunks of your work in the past, due to not backing up your work? Will you change your methods in 2018? I have. T_T Sadly, no, I am gremlin that types directly into the on-site editor instead of using a word-processing program then copypasting or uploading it, and at this point nothing will change my terrible ways.

15. Do you foresee any personal or professional obstacles in 2018, that would keep you from creating fanworks? ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN!! WHO KNOWS, MAN, WHO KNOWS

16. Do you have that one fanfic that you wrote a ton for, ages ago, but never posted? Will this be the year, come hell or high water, that it WILL get finished and posted? Nope. Anything I’ve actually written has been posted. I don’t write an entire multichapter before posting any of it, if I have 1 chapter finished, it goes up.

17. Do you typically answer all comments/reviews individually? Do you plan to change the way you interact with your readers this year? Not always, especially not on FFN where review replies go straight to PM and there is no way to answer unsigned reviews. I don’t plan to change anything.

18. Do you typically post multi-chapters as you write, or finish it all and then start posting? Would you like to change your posting method? I answered this as part of a previous question. I post each chapter as it’s written. (Except if I’m re-posting my old works from FFN to AO3... I have a few years worth of stuff I didn’t crosspost yet.) No, I don’t want to change.

19. Would you consider non-fandom writing events, like NaNoWriMo or writing contests? Consider, yes. Actually participate in, probably not.

20. Any plans to work on original fiction this year? Nope. (Doesn’t mean I won’t, just that I have no plans to.)
