A Grand(ish) Theory of What the Heck
I love the utterly unhinged, super detailed theories about what's going on in Good Omens, especially in season 2. I hope one or more of them turn out to be true, as some kind of glorious puzzle-box-hidden-code monstrosity. And also I think that there has to be a simpler explanation for things, for the people who are at least Somewhat Normal (tm) about this show. (... I assume such people do exist somewhere...) This is what I have been pondering recently.
The thing that started me thinking about this was this post, containing some promotional materials for season 2 that feature main characters with scenes in their heads. Like this:
Tumblr media
Seeing this created a very similar situation in my own head, but with a nice shiny lightbulb.
All the weirdness: the car, the sideburns, the clock, the behavior of the folks of Soho, the vanishing storefront signs. The absence of God. I think this is all because everything we see is in their heads.
I don't mean it's made up. At least not entirely. Memory is already a plot point. Why not explore it on a deeper level? I've read theories emphasizing the minisodes' stories being retold by Aziraphale and Crowley. I think the whole season is like that.
You know that sort of conventional-wisdom-fact-concept that you can only dream faces of people you've seen before (or variations therein), because your brain can't make new faces up? So it just fills in what it thinks is close enough? I think that idea, applied to remembering or recollecting things, could explain so many things that are wonky in this show.
Wonky Things
Crowley parking in an impossible London location? He definitely remembers it was in London, so his brain just stuck some obvious London landmarks in there.
Awkward clattering happening when Crowley throws the stacks of books he's inexplicably carrying around the bookshop? He wouldn't actually throw Aziraphale's books! But he'd like to think he's cool and nonchalant enough to do that, and if he did it would definitely make Some Kind of Noise.
Jim walking toward the bookshop from somewhere mysterious? Maggie and Nina saw him first, and he came from that direction, so he must've walked all that way. They don't know about the elevator in the Donkey.
Aziraphale remembers tartan hills and the Loch Ness monster because he was having a jolly time driving through Scotland, so obviously the scenery must've been whimsical Scottish things.
Nina put the Honolulu roast sign up, so she remembers its presence, but perhaps the occult/ethereal visitors to her shop do not.
Maggie really did text Aziraphale about the rent, but a note through the mail slot is a much more dignified way for a scholarly angel to imagine he received a message.
On the Fallibility of Recall
This season is loaded with unrealistic inclusions. The colors are turned up to 11. Some of the scenes are more caricature than believable interaction. Remembering things never copies or reproduces them with what one might call high fidelity.
Scenes recalled by separate memories will inherently vary. One person's hefty jigger might be another person's dash. Who knows for sure where the sun was that day? You and I might recall an event having different lighting or a different color palette, sort of like viewing something with different lens filters.
According to Neil, Crowley is an unreliable narrator of the story of his Fall. He labels the variations in clock times as a continuity error in a show where Everything Is Meant, but he doesn't say whose continuity error it is. He insists that the Bentley is the same through the whole season; maybe it was the same, but remembered differently. Maybe this is part of why there's more CGI but it's harder to spot.
So What?
Is this all there is to it? I sure hope not. I like my Good Omens with enough layers to put to shame an onion wrapped in a cake and covered in a parfait.
Is this possibly the fancy footwork that's distracting from the real magic trick? I wouldn't put it past Our Gaiman. There are a lot of things one could hide in the narrative of unreliable memory.
Is this going to stop me from rewatching and repondering and remaking theories for the next couple years? Not even at gunpoint.

txt as memorable strangers!
Tumblr media
✸ welcome to shit posting tuesday!
YEONJUN...
that one senior whose party you crashed with your friend but you insist that it's not crashing since he once saw your friend and as a courtesy told them to drop by and you're the plus one. but then you end up drinking too much (one shot diluted with apple juice) and end up passing out in the middle of the dance floor and yeonjun cannot get you to leave so he's waiting beside you waiting for you to wake up after everyone left.
SOOBIN...
soobin met your now ex significant other in a club and he was in his silly goofy mood that night so after he heard what a troublesome relationship yall had (he eavesdropped) he decided to talk them out of the relation which in turned helped you to cut off the dead weight and made you free! so now you're looking for that angelic stranger on the campus who helped you!
BEOMGYU...
he posted a tweet that said, 'saw a person doing pssppsspsss to a dog and got rejected LMAO . never felt so connected to a stranger before lol' with your back on the tweet which gets viral and you end up seeing it and you're like this certainly ain't me but that certainly was you. you're now pondering whether you should message him or not. he gets linked to you because one of his moots knows you and you wake up one day and you see he has liked around 79 of your posts.
TAEHYUN...
saw you slip on a banana peel and hit your head in the sidewalk and shoving him meanwhile which sent all his assignment paper flying in the air and now you were barely conscious, bleeding on his assignment paper. taehyun thinks about abandoning you but his aquarius sun collects his bloodied assignment papers, some pictures as proof to his professor and calls an ambulance for you. you can kinda hear him curse his fate slightly all the way through the journey but when you wake up he's not there.
HUENING KAI...
you were trying to show some toddlers a magic trick with a lighter but you accidentally set hyuka's limited edition hawaiian shirt imported from honolulu on fire. he puts out the fire but there's a huge burn mark there and he's like he's okay but you can tell he's not okay because there's tears rolling down his cheeks but he tells you he is fine and you are afraid to ask to reimburse because it did look expensive so you pretend to be mute even though you're sure he saw you speak to the kids.
Tumblr media
a/n if any of yall see this as an one shot in the near future you did not see this post hahahahah okay? im only showing this because we are best friends.

Bandictionary archives: My Chemical Romance - Honolulu, HI - December 14, 2007
Tumblr media
I was 15 when I took these photos. I applied for a photo pass not really thinking I'd get one, but my request was approved and I was beyond excited. I got my first DSLR a few days before this show and had little time to practice; I'd read a lot about what settings to use at concerts and other tips and tricks, and I'd shot a few shows with my digital point-and-shoot, but I really had no idea what I was doing. I was lucky to get the shots that I did and I'm still really proud of them. Please credit ninevoltheart when re-posting. These photos are also available on Flickr. Crowley S2 Hair Post #6 Redone
(For reference: The Sideburns Scheme)
Crowley, Good Omens 2, Episode 1, The Arrival, being in coffee shop
Sideburns Check
Tumblr media
The sideburns are still short. The driving time shortened them, and Crowley entered a human space. He may have tricked this location's threshold on the way in, but since that threshold is not bigger than Crowley, he keeps the short sideburns.
Due to the lighting in general, the right sideburn looks darker. It also looks more painted in texture than the left sideburn.
...
Brighter Red Streak Check
Tumblr media
For looking for the brighter, more saturated red streak, it's really hard to tell, but I think it moved slightly. Before, it was coming out at the part and on top of that area. Here, it's close to doing that but closer to the center of his left eye and more easily seen from the front.
...
Hairstyle Changes
Tumblr media
Comparing to before Crowley entered the coffee shop, the hairstyle shape looks mostly the same. The lighting is mainly what makes it look different. As already stated, it's really hard to tell that the streak moved slightly.
...
Earthly Objects
(For reference: Earthly Objects)
With Aziraphale's invisible chair and him making sure to not touch the table as well, Crowley takes over as the one to make sure touches are visibly handled whenever necessary. He has his back to the chair with his arm on top of that back to the chair up until Nina leaves. His right hand is shown at different cuts with some variance to the touch itself on the table.
Nina arrives with a Hello and a question. The next cut makes sure to show Crowley touching the table and chair.
When the coffee arrives, Crowley picks up the cup by the handle with two visible fingers from the front and some of the thumb known to be picking it up from the other side but not as easily seen. This method, I suspect, is Crowley preferring credit for drinking the coffee as his earthly object touch instead of physically touching the cup. Since I don't know if I'll truly stay committed to this project to get all the way to episode 6, I will even point out now that when Aziraphale drinks the infamous coffee of that episode, it is shown from the back, not the front. So, he, theoretically, is not going to get credit for that drinking touch in Earthly Objects at least. Crowley is showing us how it's done properly here.
Aziraphale's main physical earthly object touch is the Eccles cakes plate when he and Crowley get up to leave.
...
Story Commentary
Crowley's right side is notably cast in shadow for this scene when we see him from the front. The lighting very much favors his left.
He is also more shadowy and blurry compared to Aziraphale for cuts where he is not given focus and shown from the back or the side before he eventually leans forward. When looking more shadowy and blurry, there is one part where it looks like he's mouthing something to the unseen Aziraphale as Nina's miming his order to someone else.
A sign appears early on into the scene after Crowley sits down that says, "Today's Specials Honolulu Roast". The sign itself is in Nina's handwriting even though we haven't seen Nina yet. I only know that because of a Tumblr post I read ages ago that pointed out her handwriting in the signs she and Maggie use later when locked in the coffee shop. Presumably, the sign's appearance is one of the story's cues that's something is off with chronology and reality.
The blocking in this scene is staged such that during the actual ordering of the coffee, when Nina has focus, she will be in the shot with a blurred version of Crowley or Aziraphale. In the cuts where one of them receives focus, they will be looking at the space where she is presumed to be, but she will not be in the actual shot with them, not even blurred.
After Aziraphale gives Nina Crowley's name, Crowley smiles an adorably proud little smile and says, "Charmed".
I used to theorize that meant she was a witch and didn't know it. Later, I thought maybe it meant she got something special from getting his name because she's the only human given this type of introduction for Crowley. Other humans hear it amidst the tension at the ball, but it's still not the same as an actual introduction as done here. Nina never calls Crowley by his name though. Besides that other human in the park when Crowley was being still and expecting to meet Shax, Nina is the only one to approach and talk to Crowley. Maggie even makes a point of taking Nina with her to approach Crowley in episode 6. By the end of the season, Nina is the closest thing Crowley has to a known human friend, in my opinion.
Like Maggie, she has no known last name despite being one of the more prominently featured human characters over the story.
Back to being more focused on this scene itself, I think Nina was checking Crowley out when leaving the table the first time.
Aziraphale is actually really cute in this scene. Both he and Crowley have their lovely chemistry together here.
Checking in with the timeline run down post I've been referencing, this scene is theoretically in the late afternoon around 4:40PM.
That post does not refer to the days, but based on my understanding of how the story eventually unfolds, the implied day at this point is Monday. Nina will call this idea into question in episode 6 by referring to a power outage "last week."
...
That's it for this post. Way back when I started to track these things, I did have a tendency to update even these posts, so that could happen again, just FYI.

How to Write Good Omens Meta
Someone left something in my ask box that intrigued me:
My Ask is for insight into the theory of clues and how S2 clues move and build S3. Is there a meta on this? (If not, would you consider it at some point?)
Well, I did consider it, and here’s my first shot at answering this really good question. It's more about the art of writing than of clue analysis, but I may do a second piece in this series, if it feels necessary. Anyway, here we go:
read on Ao3
Learn Something New
People want to read meta to learn something that they didn’t know before. This probably means you will have to learn something that you didn’t know before. Some meta-analysts arrive pre-loaded with a rich background in costuming, tarot, biblical canon, and the wide array of cultural references that appear in the show. We also seem to have a fair number of psychologists (formally trained or otherwise) representing. I (and others: see Chekhov's Contract by @ineffablyruined) happen to have a background in law and so I was able to make a unique contribution via my piece Sovereignty, Citizenship, and the Bookshop. But for other topics, I have to self-educate.
In my personal opinion, the work on direct canon analysis (that is, watching the show and reporting what you see) has largely been done and I don’t think there will be many more breakthroughs until some people go away and come back with a freshly informed perspective. Personally, I’m waiting for someone to go learn everything there is to know about S.W. Erdnase and tell us what they found, because that is a very specific reference that I haven’t seen fleshed out yet (link it in the reblogs if it already exists!).
Don’t Be Afraid of Outside Sources
For example, quite a few times I’ve gone away to read outside source material before writing a new meta. Good examples are: Honolulu Roast, The Lament of the Metatron, and The Hornet in the Beehive. These are topics where I had no particular advantage over anyone else, I just had a question and decided to keep digging until I had something that looked like an answer.
On choosing a topic: in each of these cases I began with an in-show piece of information that seemed both unambiguous in its directness and yet unexplained. Why is there a mysteriously appearing sign in the coffeeshop that says Honolulu Roast? Who is the Metatron? Why is there so much attention drawn to bees when Crowley goes up to Heaven? If I start with a solid question and then follow an investigative pathway, usually beginning with the Bible given the nature of this show but not always, I’ll usually find something.
There are also some Clues that we’re basically told to investigate. The books on the shelves. The movie playing in the background in The Resurrectionist Pub. These are unambiguous breadcrumbs but they’re a lot of labor. I’m not going to read all those books and watch all those movies. So pick one (1) and go read it, or watch it, and then tell us what you found, so I can read your 1,500 word piece to learn what I need to know about it.
Sometimes you get enough information for a meta just by hanging around long enough and absorbing information. That’s how I put together my pieces on Terry Pratchett’s Death and Crowley’s Dream. The trick in this case is to be able to synthesize it, and for that, the very best way to learn how to do that is read other people’s meta.
Specializing
The asker asked the most important question of all: what’s the balance between trying to manage all the Clues or ignoring them entirely? Well, think of it this way (I’m borrowing an XKCD comic for brevity):
Tumblr media
The takeaway here is, when you get a PhD, you become a hyperfocused expert in a very narrow topic and you’re relying on lots and lots and lots of other PhD students becoming highly specialized experts in other topics so that together you are expanding the diameter of human knowledge.
We (meta-analysts) are all getting PhDs in Good Omens, one way or another. Some people are doing their theses in color theory. I am doing mine on the concept of memory and identity permanence (though frequently dabbling in law). Yet others have flung themselves body and soul into the topic of Crowley’s gender and God bless them. Heck, there’s a team of people on Discord who are on any given day ripping the Bentley down to its studs and building it back up again. Feel free to explore while you seek out your passionate topic but don’t feel the need to tackle all of them. You’ll find the one that you fit best in.
You do not have to solve the S3 plot puzzle by yourself. You have to find two pieces, put them together, and then go find a buddy that also has two pieces and see if your pair of pairs makes a quartet. Literally. That’s what we’re doing here guys. It’s a team effort or nothing at all.
Organize your ideas into digestible segments
Great, so you learned something new, you have a tantalizing hypothesis, and you’re ready to write! But what does a good meta look like?
Your abstract (which I recommend you write last) will go at the top, followed by evidence in a logically progressive order that finally culminates in your conclusion. If you’ve ever written a five paragraph essay, you have these tools in your toolbox. And yes, sometimes you will even need to rebut counterarguments (“but Neil said” is the bane of my existence) just like your teacher taught you. But it shouldn’t be formatted like a five-paragraph essay. This is not an 8.5”x11” sheet of paper with 1” margins: this is Tumblr.
Walls of text are great and all but reading handicaps come in all flavors and I for one benefit greatly from having section headers that help me navigate a meta. I’m much less likely to read it if all I have to find my place by is paragraph breaks.
Section headers should tell me what the next paragraph or two are about, and if I read just the section headers, I should have a pretty good idea of what evidence you’re pulling from where and what conclusion you’re going to support with that evidence.
Here’s my opinion on gifs: if I need to see Michael Sheen’s micro-expressions to really understand your point, include it. If I just need a reminder of where we are in the story, or what a costume looks like, a still is fine and less distracting. For a lot of things, though, images are unnecessary. You’ll find the right balance but don’t overburden your written work with images. I think there are quite a few people who only read my work on Ao3 because they simply don’t like the Tumblr, image-centric format.
Have a main takeaway
What does all your evidence point to? It may feel like stating the obvious, but state it anyway. Put a little ribbon on top of this gift you have given to the fandom. Label it. Tell them exactly what your conclusion is from all this information you gathered.
…but don’t feel a need to draw a firm conclusion
In my meta Continuity Errors, I conclude that Crowley stops time in order to move something that was hidden in the bookshop out of the bookshop. I do not speculate on what exactly that something is that he moved. I don’t need to. By leading others down this path, I am tapping the collective resources of the hive mind to think about what exactly was hidden with the bookshop’s protection. They may have some information I don’t because they’ve been looking other places. Not having a hypothesis for this shouldn’t (and didn’t) stop me from publishing my work.
Go back to the top and write your intro/abstract
Have you written your main takeaway? Did you support it with evidence? Good. Now take that and write a 20-30 word elevator pitch that you’re going to put at the top of the meta so that people know what it’s about before they commit to 1,000-2,000 words of being led down the garden path. I have a bad habit of burying the lead, and I’m trying to break it. For a moment people were worrying about putting big revelations below the cut so that we’re not interfering with Neil, but I don’t think Neil has ever seen my work and I doubt he ever will, and at this time my opinion is that playing “hide the lead” is more of a hindrance to the fandom than helpful to protecting the integrity of the IP. So be bold. Tell people exactly where you’re going with this and a short roadmap of how you’re going to get there. You don’t necessarily have to “give away the goods” but the theme should be obvious. An okay-ish example of an abstract is the intro to my first meta. My abstract for Continuity Errors is decidedly more tongue-in-cheek. You'll find your own style.
Cite and Tag
If you read someone’s post and it gave you a great idea, cite them as inspo! It’s a feel-good moment for them and it ties the fandom together. If you’re relying on your own prior work or someone else’s work to support a point, link the piece and tag the author. You will probably want to start copying links to metas that you like into a doc or spreadsheet to make this easier. Check out mine to get an idea of how you could organize a spreadsheet, or check out this doc to see an alternative approach to meta database management.
Speaking of which: @cobragardens, @aprilodite, @drconstellation, @vidavalor, and @irispurpurea, your work appears in this... whatever exactly this is idk.
Recruit a Mentor/beta
Various Tumblrites have published comments or posts that they are willing to beta other people’s work. Reach out to those people before you need them and ask if, whenever you’ve written your next piece, if they wouldn’t mind taking a look at it? Have an upfront discussion about turnaround time. Most of us work, and have other obligations, so it’s unlikely we can look at a thing the minute you send it to us, even if we’re active on Tumblr at that moment. Some people have set days off that they know they’ll have time to curl up with a cup of tea and read the first draft of your meta; you may find that having a weekly schedule with someone pushes you to produce and improve at a pace you wouldn’t achieve under your own steam. Writing is a skill; you get better by practicing and getting constructive feedback.
Anyways, I hope someone finds this helpful: maybe meta-analysis seems like an intimidating thing to get into, but it shouldn’t be! This is a welcoming community with room for all shapes, sizes and flavors of contributions. If you have any follow-up questions about this piece, please feel free to drop them in my ask box!

On November 15th, 1972, Elvis played the 15 000 seat Long Beach Civic Arena, for the second of two nights. The show was captured in an audience recording.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram;
"…He’s the King and even if he seemed a little bored with the audience; his routines trite, painfully coached and contrived, he was still good. Gone is the sneer. Gone, the gyrating hips - tucked neatly into a girdle cinch which he wore underneath a white jumpsuit with the silver studs and garish gold belt. Gone, too, is his wife. And Wednesday night, the King seemed a little bit melancholy, a little preoccupied with his own problems to really get into a dialogue with the audience… His voice is mature - grown rich with life. His smile is warm and magical…"
The Valley News;
"…Elvis Presley managed to present an inspiring performance last week at the Long Beach Arena despite lacklustre supporting acts and a distracting hard sell of his posters and records before the show and during intermission. He thrilled the 15,000-sell-out crowd with many of his early hits along with a few more recent songs… Elvis used everything in his bag of tricks including wildly swinging hips, exaggerated vocal style and even tossing several of his scarfs to the crowd. Still, despite the dramatics, Presley has a rock-gospel voice that can't be beat by any current singer. His showmanship only adds to the entertainment, helping to make Elvis concerts more than just a musical treat…Overall, Presley's portion of the show was quite enjoyable and was good enough to overcome the weakness of the concert package as a whole…"
Tumblr media
Marty Pasetta, an accomplished maker of entertainment and variety programmes for television, assigned by NBC to produce and direct the upcoming satellite TV special to be known as Aloha From Hawaii, was in town to get a feel for the performance before actually meeting with Elvis to discuss some set design and production matters. Pasetta found the concert musically strong but visually boring, not conducive to exciting television, that Elvis needed to move more on stage ('He stood there like a lump', Pasetta said in a later interview), and lose a little weight before the broadcast.
Having argued with a predictably belligerent Colonel Parker, Pasetta nervously presented his proposed stage and lighting designs during a slightly bizarre meeting with Elvis and some members of the Memphis Mafia, who wore sunglasses indoors and who prominently displayed their handguns. When Pasetta directly broached the tricky subject of Elvis’ weight, the excruciating tension dissolved into Elvis’ laughter, and a promise that he would do everything Pasetta asked of him to ‘make super magic for the tube, together’.
The tour concluded with three sold out shows at the Honolulu International Centre, Hawaii, on November 17th and 18th, where more details of the upcoming satellite show would be revealed. Elvis played just two more shows at the Long Beach Arena, with matinee and evening performances on April 25th, 1976.

This Day in Buster…April 9, 1929
Charles Eugene Banks reviews “The Cameraman” for the Honolulu Advertiser: “With his droll manner and acrobatic stunts and machine tricks, he keeps his audience in constant laughter.  There is sympathy, too, for Buster.  You pity him for his mishaps and disappointments which are many and poignant.  Then he suddenly turns them to comedy.”

Amol New World
When I wrote the first ever edition of this blog in 2016, I described Jeremy Paxman as 'stony eyed, hair thick and flowing like a bear post-hibernation.' Having completed his twenty ninth series earlier this year he has now departed for a longer rest, well earned after nearly three decades of sardonic quips and withering put-downs. From all of the press pics, his replacement Amol Rajan is not boasting a bouffant on Paxo's 2016 level, and I can't choose which animal to compare him with, but I'm sure we'll get there.
Tumblr media
I, like all viewers of University Challenge, am intrigued to see how Rajan hosts the show. For a large number of people Paxman is the only person we've known as quizmaster, and his style has become synonymous with the show itself. In his later years, he mellowed out a little bit, taking the edge off his caustic nature for the most part, but his furrowed brow, knitted tightly in befuddlement at the silliness of a contestant's throwaway guess remains iconic. Amol Rajan certainly has a big seat to fill.
Tumblr media
I think its pretty cool, for what its worth, and I reckon they had to mix things up a bit or it might have felt a bit strange with someone else in the hotseat.
Tumblr media
There is an excitement around this series, a nervousness about the newness of it (amplified somewhat by the faked death of the University Challenge YouTube uploader, which you can read about here if you haven't heard of it. Let's just say here that hopefully someone else steps up to upload this new series).
Manchester have won the show four times, and Trinity three, making them two of the most historically significant UC teams, but only one of them can win tonight... Without further ado, your first starter of the Amol Rajan era.
The show opens with a bizarre aspect ratio which I feared they were going to stick with the whole time, but the camera zooms in and we are treated to Rajan's dulcet tones for the first time. He introduces the teams and then we're off to the races.
Immaterialism is a concept associated with which philosopher...
Tumblr media
Manchester hit back thanks to captain Senehedheera, but he rushes on the first bonus, losing out on the five points. No one knows its Honolulu on the next starter, but a second from Senehedheera gives Manchester the lead. Jaksina gets the first picture starter on Dr Zhivago by Pasternak, before a full bonus set on samizdat novels ties the game, and another from Banerjee takes back the advantage.
De los Reyes-White takes a starter on Wandavision and Senehedheera is disgusted by his own failure to recall the names of philosophers on the bonuses.
Henderson gets the music starter in about two seconds, prompting a big 'wow!' from Rajan. Maybe this can be his thing - pure shock at the speed of knowledge on display. Good bonuswork puts Trinity on double the score of Manchester at the halfway stage.
Tumblr media
Banerjee wins a bonus set on herbs for Trinity. Bucking the stereotype of the cooking-ignorant student, they manage two of the three. Jaksina then takes his second picture starter with Vermeer, and Trinity are in command with five minutes to go.
Needing a starter, Grady buzzes in and starts giving Wide Sargasso Sea, but Rajan accepts his answer before he even finishes saying wide. Fair enough, but certainly something Paxman would never have done. They reduce the gap, but Kang shuts down the comeback. Whenever Manchester look like they're going to get back in it, one of the Trinity quartet block them. Fifty points separate the sides, so all Manchester can play for is the high-scoring loser play-off.
Or is it?
A starter from Kullmann is followed by a quickfire hat-trick on the bonuses. Another starter. Dawdling on the bonuses. Too much conferring. They only manage one, but its a crucial one. They're ten points back. A supremely clutch starter from De los Reyes-White (yak) ties the game with seconds left. Some of which Rajan wastes by telling us there are seconds left.
What kind of electricity...?
'Static?' guesses Senehedheera, and then the gong. Is he right? No he is not.
Tiebreak. 👔
In the first episode of the new era.
Tumblr media
Which activist art group...
BuZz!
Senehedheera - Guerilla Girls?
Correct.
Trinity 175 - 185 Manchester
Phew! What a game to start the series. I know there is a bit of choice for the schedulers over which match gets broadcast first, but they must have been rubbing their hands with glee when this one fell into their laps.
Astonishing comeback from Manchester, and huge commiserations to Trinity, though they will surely return for the play-offs unless Rajan's increased speed of delivery results in loads of high-scoring games.
As for Rajan himself, new things always take a bit of getting used to, and as I said in the introduction, Paxman had become so synonymous with UC that its odd to see someone else there (it sort of feels like we're watching a alternate universe version of the show), but I think he did a good job and I'm sure we'll get over it soon enough.
Although it might take longer than that for people to get over the lack of question cards...
Join us next week for Episode 2 of the Rajan Era, as Aberdeen take on Birmingham, and subscribe here so that you never miss a review!

6 PEOPLE I'D LIKE TO KNOW BETTER....
Thanks to @sensitivehandsomeactionman for the tag!
LAST MOVIE: The Boy and the Heron. It was pretty good; trippy and all that. I don't know if it's 100% my deal. Watched the dubbed version, and it was pretty good, but probably would have liked to try the Japanese version. Sometimes the celebrity voices are too recognizable. I just bought Tar on Blu Ray and am hoping to watch with my husband. I've seen it, but he hasn't. On the subject of why you can't trust all your favorites to be on streaming forever, Future Man was removed from Hulu. I had to buy some Australian version where one of the disks is supposed to be Region-B encoded (so I will have to recopy it using MakeMKV).
SWEET/SPICY/SAVORY?: I love sweets, but I prefer to finish with something savory.
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Married for a long-ass time. My husband just reads or something while I watch Supernatural for the 100th time. He's very accommodating.
LAST THING I GOOGLED: Robert Patrick since he's in Reacher season 2. A reminder that we all age. Before that, it was Jared Padalecki abs, lol.
CURRENT OBSESSION: Is this a trick question? Have you seen my Supernatural blog?
LAST SONG: I tend to listen to my whole iTunes library on shuffle. Right now it's playing The Who "Amazing Journey - Sparks" from Tommy. Earlier I was excited to listen to Jensen Ackles' Honolulu performance of "Can't You See" that I recorded. Ah, the memories.

Fly to Paradise for Less: How to Find Cheap Flights to Hawaii
Fly to Paradise for Less: How to Find Cheap Flights to Hawaii Hawaii is a place that is on everyone's bucket list. With breathtaking beaches, stunning natural beauty and a unique culture, it is no surprise that the island paradise is a top travel destination. However, traveling to Hawaii can be expensive, especially when it comes to airfare. For many people, finding affordable flights to Hawaii seems almost impossible. But fear not! In this post, we will provide you with tips and tricks on how to find cheap flights to Hawaii. 1. Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates The key to finding cheap flights to Hawaii is being flexible with your travel dates. Airlines tend to offer discounted rates during the off-peak season which is from October to mid-December. Another great time to travel is during the spring when tourist traffic is low. When booking your trip, check out multiple travel websites and compare prices for the same date range, and you might find that mid-week or early morning flights are cheaper. 2. Sign up for Email Alerts Many airlines and travel websites offer email alerts for flight deals to Hawaii. Sign up for email alerts from airlines and travel sites. This way, you are the first to know about new sales on airfare, making it easier to find the most affordable flights to Hawaii. 3. Use Miles and Rewards Points

Miles and rewards points can be incredibly valuable when it comes to flying to Hawaii for a reduced rate. Check with your airline's frequent flyer program to see how many miles or points you need to redeem for cheap flights to Hawaii. Using credit card rewards and booking sites that offer rewards points are also great ways to find affordable rates. 4. Fly to a Different Airport Flying to airports outside of Honolulu, such as Maui or Kona, can be a more affordable option for some travelers. The cost of a flight to Honolulu tends to be more expensive than flights to other Hawaiian islands. After landing on a different island, you can take a short connecting flight to Honolulu or take a ferry to your destination. 5. Book Early or Last-Minute Booking your flight several months in advance or last-minute can significantly lower the cost of your flight. As mentioned, flights to hawaii from uk offer plenty of deals during the off-peak season. Therefore, booking several months in advance ensures cheaper prices. Suppose you have the flexibility to travel on short notice. In that case, the day before the flight often presents a last-minute or a standby rate that can save you a substantial amount of money. Finding cheap flights to Hawaii can be a daunting task, but it is not impossible. With the right strategy, you can save on airfare and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii without breaking the bank. Use these tips to find flights within your budget and experience paradise for less. Flexibility with your travel dates, the use of miles and rewards points, signing up for email alerts, exploring different airports, and booking early or last-minute are simple yet effective ways to get you to Hawaii for less. Start planning your Hawaiian vacation today and be awed by its natural beauty, vibrant culture, and perfect weather.

Btw between the mediaocean deal, bringing in the google distribution and marketing people and all these other folks rotating, expect CW's marketing game to STEP UP soon.
You'll notice the commercials have become a lot more african american in most metro areas. Like hell I have a friend in friggin Honolulu that was getting like 95% black ads. Some a bit less but I mean. The MediaOcean shift's already kicked in.
Beyond that they've just overall upgraded in their ad clients--ipad, marvel, best buy, etc, rather than 32 mid tier cell companies and 5 liberty insurance commercials, for example on the Winchesters slot, meaning advertisers are jumping for that. Lower running programs like Walker still retain standard advertisers and tend to be packed full of promos for other shows due to low space buy.
You'll also notice the new tricks, like "siri, set my alarm for" and other things you haven't noticed from CW yet. Keep an eye out, they're sharpening up rather than just plodding along on some uncaring routine.
Nexstar also seems reactive with their ads. a few episodes they tried to put Walker in Winchesters ads a LOT, as if to try to listen to Pedowitz and say, hey, cross it! But when it didn't work for Walker and nobody was interested, it was generally reduced to one Windy commercial an episode and maybe a general Walker one, while focusing on things like Stargirl's wicked promo (which did actually see substantial growth, just not enough) and Kung Fu.
Nexstar is *actively* testing shit whether or not the audience is keen enough to notice it and, believe it or not, it's working. Mostly. Some products are just unsalvageable, but Walker never belonged on this network to begin with, much less ever getting a spinoff.

Hawaii pt1
I was a bit surprised right near the end of my flight to Honolulu. No, i'm not writing this from a strange island filled with polar bears. The surprise was much more mundane than that.
I woke up suddenly to hear the flight attendant asking each row if they needed a pen. I looked around and saw every other passenger had a scantron. I rubbed my eyes and tried to figure out whether this was a high school or college flashback. It took a minute to figure out this was not just another episode but was indeed real. There's a certain kind of panic that begins to set in when you realize it's not a memory but something you could have actually prepared for. On top of that, the confusion of why pens were being used instead of a #2 pencil was further complicating the situation.
Not knowing how much time I had left to complete it, I scrambled out of my seat to catch up to the attendant. With the form in hand, I took a seat and a deep breath before finally looking at the sheet.
Side A was your standard customs declaration to try to track incoming agriculture. I was able to quickly check off none of the above before getting to the hard part. The form had lines made up of boxes where each character goes in its own box.
But these boxes were cut in half. They were basically u shaped where the left and right sides were half the height of the blank space. Even if they were normal full sized boxes, there's always that struggle to make the letter exactly fill in all of the space. Its also never clear whether they expect all uppercase or not.
Side B was when it got really interesting. On the back of this legal form they had printed a survey trying to figure out why I was going to Hawaii, was I part of a tour, how much Spam I planned to eat, etc.
Obviously I had to fill out Side A. But was side B a requirement too? Or was it just a trick to get more survey responses?
Like Orlando or really all of Florida, Hawaii has struggled with the double edged sword of tourism/people wanting to live in "paradise". The Oprah's and Zuckerberg's buy up giant estates, or in the case of Larry Ellison, buying an entire island. Then everyone else who's lived there for generations is steadily forced out.
With that in mind, why wouldn't you raise the barrier to entry with a test? Surely there's no chance of a government mandated test going awry.
Will failing to complete the form result in you ending up inside a Spam can? Maybe. Or it could just be more mundane like you have to give back in some way, like participating in a beach cleanup.
I tried to lookup local cleanups but they all conflict with my cat cafe visits so hopefully they let me slide since it's my first time.

Day 246a: Sunday September 3, 2023 - "San Francisco Treat"
I promised William both a boat ride AND a train ride on this trip, and he knew exactly what we were looking for at the San Zoo - the train! Daddy promised after all! On the way we met their Giraffes, and Gorillas, and Koalas. We climbed on the statues of baby animals and he seemed to get the idea of posing, though my favorites will always be those candid magic ones I snap, like the one of him leaned against a baby elephant. One for the scrap books! We tricked Mama with a funny about feeing the lions, waved to the penguins, and then FINALLY we found the train station. We bought our ticket, and waited in the line until it was our turn to ride the steamy on two quick laps around the short track that included a surprise Dinosaur, and bubble run tunnel. The conductor was very friendly and liked to wave to our little train enthusiast. After our ride, we lazily hung around the track to watch the train go by several times, waving to everyone on board before exiting through the gift shop, officially adding San Francisco Zoo to William's list. 8th major zoo for us and we decided it was a solid #3 of the set. Though one thing I liked the most was the aesthetic of the large wide open spaces with big wind swept trees, and the smell of ocean air. I swore a few times I could even hear the waves, which given how close the park was to the beach, is another natural feature that made this zoo feel pretty special.
Song: Maggie Rogers, Del Water Gap - New Song

William’s Zoo List: 1. Tucson Zoo (4) 2. Phoenix Zoo (7) 3. St Louis Zoo (1) 4. Detroit Zoo (5) 5. Milwaukee County Zoo (2) 6. Los Angeles Zoo (8) 7. Honolulu Zoo (6) 8. San Francisco Zoo (3) Where will we go next?!

5 Tips & Tricks to Plan the Best Airport Transfer?
When booking your Honolulu airport transfers to Waikiki, it’s important to consider your group size and luggage. If you’re traveling with a large group or have a lot of luggage, you may need to opt for a larger vehicle or additional luggage space. Conversely, if you’re traveling solo or with just a small carry-on, a smaller vehicle may suffice.
