The new trailer for The Color Purple is beautiful. Knowing Oprah and her love for The Color Purple I had no doubt that it would be. It also is directed by Blitz Bazawule who is Black. He also directed Black Is King. What stuck out to me tho is Taraji’s voice. Oh my god 😫🥹. They had Push Da Button playing in the background and it honestly sounded like it was playing on either a record player or an old radio. It definitely sounded like a song from the 20s-30s. It was 👩🏾‍🍳💋. I can’t wait to see and hear this movie.

I remember seeing some theories floating around that maybe Law would end up doing the eternal youth surgery on Luffy

and I just keep thinking about how much Luffy would actually hate that

not even the aspect of you know, Law Dying in the process, someone else he cares about giving his life for him

but like. we have this kid who spent his childhood so damn lonely

so lonely that he didn't give up on befriending Ace (and Sabo once he met him too) even though Ace beat him up and very much tried to kill him etc etc for Months

and then Sabo died and then Ace died and he didn't have either of his brothers anymore (even though Sabo came back) and then he lost his crew bc of Kuma and didn't have a clue what happened to them

so like. I'm just imagining a scenario in which Luffy ends up immortal

but his nakama isn't

except Brook, unless his body gets destroyed of course

the friends he has made along the way aren't

except maybe Marco with his phoenix powers

so just.

the idea of Luffy ending up immortal, doomed to lose his nakama to time

almost completely alone

#song of the day #did I ever tell y'all that around the end of September / beginning of October I went through and listened to every Brooks & Dunn song? #every non-Christmas song at least. full non-holiday-special discography #several times as I went through I found a song I didn't think I recognized and then when I started playing it I knew the words #this is one of them! #it's off their 2001 album 'Steers & Stripes' which--this was an odd thing to realize when I first saw it #y'all know that post that's like '9/11 didn't actually start the US nationalism. there's a reason 9/11 happened in 2001'? #Steers & Stripes came out in April of 2001 and the song 'Only in America' was already on it #(and also you know. the album is called 'Steers & Stripes'. a little embarrassing frankly) #an interesting marker in tracking the shift in country music from 'love my home and people; hate The Man' to only 'love My Country' #anyway I think I got just enough time with the song before 9/11 for it to be familiar once I heard it again this October #but it didn't get enough air time after 9/11 for me to recognize it before the music started up #a shame really because I do like it #anyway it's the song of the day because I was singing it while I made dinner and then I burnt my finger halfway through the song #and broke off for a really undignified yelp and scared the cat :( poor Thomas
