#i also know for sure that Dazai gives Chuuya the chance to figure out the truth himself in SB because he knows thats what Chuuya needs

Chuuya can understand Dazai so well because his mind is actually similar to Dazai's.
These two understand each other the most. They "hate" the other because they can see hints of themselves in each other. It is why they are convinced in the other's humanity when they question it on themselves. It's why they don't do much talking and yet arrive to the same conclusions. It's why they work so well. They're different in so many aspects on the surface, but deep inside, they know it's like looking in the mirror.
They don't have to agree, but they do understand the thought process BECAUSE they've thought of it before.
They probably rarely had to talk beyond short arguments because they don't need to talk to know what the other is thinking. They always agree at times when it mattered the most.
"Soulmates" is the only possible definition for these two because there's no better way to describe them.

Was meant to be writing and ended up doing a sketch thing for my au,,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For those who can’t read the text, it reads ‘Canonverse Chuuya’, and ‘Backstory Swap au Dazai’
Edit: attempted to space them out better bc tumblr killed the quality 💀
#uhhhh. do i maintag this?#y’know what. sure#bsd#bsd au#bsd chuuya#bsd dazai#if Chuuya’s arm looks weird. uh#no it doesn’t. it defo did not take me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to make that arm look. somewhat natural#idk. ask me abt my au if you want. i’ll answer any questions i can#dunno if i’ll ever make a fic of it. maybe one day lol#i actually really like how swap Dazai’s side came out#i know it might look a little cluttered but i promise that’s intentional#lamentfulwarbler’s soukoku backstory swap au#<- just in case i ever make any more posts about the au#purposefully specific so that there’s less chance of accidentally cramping someone elses tag 🙏#(swap dazai’s ability is called the setting sun btw)#(i promise his background is orange for a reason and not just me forgetting the red blue dynamic skk have-)#actually if we’re talking swap au ability names i might as well give chuuya’s as well#(if you couldn’t tell from the earlier tag. only skk are swapped)#swap chuuya’s ability is called Self-Portrait on a Cold Night#but hes not featured here. just thought that was a fun little fact#also. just in case it wasn’t obvious. Swap Dazai is in his version of Corruption. his whole schtick is different to canon Chuuya’s though-#-bc I didn’t want them to be /too/ similar#theres no fun in a swap au thats just canon but the designs and names are swapped#at least not for me-#i even tried to keep their canon personalities but with different reasonings and stuff!#i think its fun to see how different characters. different personalities. would react to similar situations#oh yeah. just in case it wasn’t clear. the lines are meant to be shadows#(like swapzai’s face is clouded in shadows. reason linked to his ability wink wink nudge nudge)#ok wait this is a lot of tags i’m gonna. uh. post now

Other theories I have about the conclusion to the Meursault arc, in no particular order and in varying degrees of conviction and likelihood:
Dazai believes he is not going to make it out of the prison and in fact thinks he is going to die. He says that he will make sure Sigma gets out but doesn't mention himself. Says his goal isn't to escape but to kill Dostoevsky. He's also being weirdly open about his emotions. Mind you, I think it would be odd if he were to actually die in this arc given that it doesn't make a lot of sense to me character-wise but. Idk.
Dostoevsky is not going to die this arc. Look, we still know nothing about him! I feel he's a much bigger threat than Fukuchi and that we're just barely scratching the surface with him. We know nothing about his ability, nothing about the V connection, nothing about what he's been setting up for apparently longer than most of the younger cast have been active. It can't end like this for him. In fact, he's the only one I'm adamant won't be killed in this arc.
Gogol is the true wildcard and may end up as a spanner in the works - he says he wants Dostoevsky dead but when Dazai or Chuuya or both gain the upper hand, he sways events to give Fyodor an advantage while brushing it off with "it's more interesting and entertaining like this". The real reason is that he doesn't actually want him dead at all. At the same time, I wonder if he might find Sigma and try to work with him to get the info he wanted. I seem to recall he wanted information on what Fyodor's ability was. Gogol is on no one's side. Let him be chaotic.
Sigma will manage to extract the information from Fyodor - as he cannot kill ability users with his own ability. Based on that one theory that Crime and Punishment only works on non-ability users, hence why Fyodor tricked Ace into killing himself and shot Catgirl with a gun. I wonder if Sigma, spurred on by a new burst of confidence, will take some initiative, figure it out (he's quite intelligent, actually, so I wouldn't put it past him), and get the information he needs.
Chuuya deflected the bullet shot at Catgirl so that it drew blood but did not kill her. Or Catgirl froze time long enough to make a plan with Chuuya. (*sob* i just don't want her to be dead)
They are able to use the info Sigma got to send it back to the Agency, thus wrapping up the DoA arc. However, Dostoevsky has gotten away, which means the four of them - Dazai, Sigma, Chuuya and Catgirl - need to go on a chaotic manhunt/road trip to find him. Chuuya is driving. He is livid at Dazai and is giving him the silent treatment while turning on the radio in the car with music he knows will annoy him. Dazai is shoved in the backseat between Sigma and Catgirl, pouting. Catgirl is revealed to be a kleptomaniac who keeps stealing stuff from them and all the places they stop at. She's not even supposed to be there she just enjoys the drama and the vibes. And poor Sigma does not want this at all but he has some moments where he and Chuuya get to talk and that's somewhat civil. Maybe they end up recruiting Adam for assistance. This makes no sense. :)
Gogol saves Dostoevsky because he doesn't really want him dead. This sends him into a crisis where he becomes more and more volatile and unpredictable. Terrible road-trip #2 electric boogaloo. Gogol keeps trying to kill him and becomes erratic, poisoning his drink, brandishing a knife, holding him at gunpoint. He tries to strangle him but cannot follow through. Fyodor does not care because for as long as Gogol's attachment exists, Fyodor is in control. Gogol knows that for as long as his attachment exists, he can never be free. I am aware this sounds like a screwed up fanfic premise. I want angst. :)
Dostoevsky put something in place for Chuuya on the off-chance that he managed to escape the brainwashing. There's no real evidence for this other than I think it makes some sense that Fyodor would have an emergency measure in place. Perhaps access to misleading information that might make him question things? Idk. Fyodor plays the long game. I want some real effects on the cast.
Got anything to add? :D

♕PM!Dazai x Fem!Reader: Too Late♕
♕ - Reader is described as Female, and Is Mori's assistant, Mori is only mentioned a couple times and there is a convo between Mori and Dazai (Elise is mentioned but nothing more then that). Dazai is a little creepy in this depending on how you interpret it (Following/Stalking Reader) A little bit of Angst at the end, and there will possibly be a part two if requested for!
Tumblr media
Dazai had always been by Mori’s side, at least as long as he could remember, but it was bound that he would find somebody to help him with easier stuff that Dazai never wanted to do, coffee runs, picking up medication, paperwork, etc. What he wasn’t expecting though was this smaller girl to be sitting next to him doing the paperwork as he was coloring with Elise instead, while it had confused the bandaged brunette he decided not to say anything. It had been like this for months and he would come in everyday and see the girl once again, doing some sort of work while Mori was either hanging out with Elise or not even there some days. So he finally decided to ask about it one day. The day that (Name) was out doing another medicine pickup run he walked in and started to question about her.
Dazai: So. Who’s that girl you normally have in here?
Mori: Oh (Name)? She’s my new assistant, well not new at this point.
Dazai: Why is she even here? You don’t need somebody like that.
Mori: Well I make her do all the things that you don’t wanna do, you know the “boring stuff” as you call it.
Dazai responds with silence as the girl comes back into the room, holding a small paper bag. She quickly walks past Dazai and sets the bag down near one of the shelves full of antibiotics, after she finishes putting it on the desk walks back out of the room before anybody can ask her anything. Of course out of curiosity Dazai follows her, wondering about what she does when she’s not with the boss, which isn’t too often.
Again, months go by and Dazai continues to follow her after work, he soon finds out a lot, she’s poor, like dirt poor, probably why she works for the Port Mafia, especially a young age, finds actually how “sickeningly” sweet she is, definitely not a good fit for the Port Mafia, he tries to convince himself. Though there is one thing he can’t seem to get off his mind, the way that you still, even being dirt poor, have the heart of an angel. Making sure other people still eat, animals make it back to their family, risking even getting killed when helping other people who are much stronger than her in bad parts of town. He can’t seem to convince himself that he’s not in love.
That’s right and it was crazy when some of his subordinates heard him complaining about it,
The Dazai Osamu, Youngest Port Mafia Executive, and Demon Prodigy, in love with some random girl who is just Mori’s helper.
It seemed weird to say out loud, sighing he decides that it’s no help just following you around and trying to figure something out about her, he has to actually take his chance before anybody else can, or worse. It does take a lot of time and consideration before he can actually even start a conversation with her, not only because you never know where she’s gonna be at a certain time but also, he has to plan this before he can just walk in.
Too bad the day that he was going to say something, another one of their new people, Chuuya Nakahara, Former King Of The Sheep, Beat him to it.

Hi! If you aren’t busy at the moment I was wondering if you could do Sigma, Chuuya, and Dazai (separately) x Kitsune! Reader and could it be fluff?
Also have a wonderful year and make sure to stay hydrated!!
Oh I absolutely love this idea. You have a wonderful year as well dear anon.
Dazai, Sigma, and Chūya with a Kitsune s/o
Genre: Some good old fluff!
Tumblr media
Dazai
-> Well this is a match made in hell heaven.
-> Dazai should never be paired with another trickster, at least if you were to ask any member of the agency that is. Or the Port Mafia. Or the general public. Or-
-> It is of no surprise that he’s absolutely enamoured with both you and your powers.
-> Now his love for your magic can actually be rather wholesome at times. Late nights where he watches you perform tricks, whether that be the creation of fire, illusions, or even the bending of space itself.
-> He sits there ever so quietly, watching you with pure adoration in his eyes, a small that is for once genuine playing on his lips.
-> The other times are as typically “Dazai” as one can imagine.
-> Want to see Kunikida lose his shit over his book of ideals being a carefully crafted illusion? Wanna see it again?
-> He also enjoys being challenged! He’ll make a game of it even. If he can figure out what five objects are illusions within five minutes you’ll be paying for dinner. If he fails however, he’ll be the one paying (after much reluctance and a fair amount of whining that is).
-> Now there are actually shrines dedicated to kitsune, in which one can leave offerings, usually in the form of Kitsune Udon.
-> Dazai will sometimes leave such offerings for you, usually after a fight or as payment for lending him your powers. He’s actually rather respectful about it too, in his ever playful way.
-> He won’t ever visit a shrine to give offerings however, unless of course you were to do such a thing.
-> Now I know what you’re waiting for dear reader, and yes he does cuddle with your foxtails. Yes he falls asleep there, no you cannot get up from the bed.
-> This love for your tails also means that he’ll try to see what makes them pop out.
-> Does a sudden surprise work? Or is it more when you’re tired?
-> Some of his methods are more nonsensical than others. Twenty pokes to the side, a mini ritual dance he made up on the spot. He knows they won’t work too, but seeing the exasperated look on your face is just too good.
-> He’s also rather fond of having you accompany him in your fox form. Even more so if he can carry you.
-> Will jokingly suggest a leash, please slap him.
-> Expect lots of head pats too, along with random tugging on your ears.
-> Now being as old as you are, you’re going to have lots of stories and Dazai is more than happy to listen to all of them.
-> While he is definitely interested in all the big things, such as battles you’ve fought in or your recounts of historic events, he’s actually much more interested in all the trivial facts you know, the more mundane things.
-> One part of that is because he just genuinely loves hearing you talk, but the other part is because there’s a high chance he won’t actually know any of it and he strikes me as a man who likes learning, especially if it’s from someone he cares for.
-> One thing he truly treasures is being able to converse with someone as intelligent as he, so there’ll be lots of late night talks about anything and everything as he finds himself falling deeper and deeper in love with you.
Sigma
-> Now Sigma has probably heard of Yokai before. Either by overhearing it in passing conversation at the Sky Casino, or by listening to one of Kolya’s many passionate, if not a bit nonsensical, rants about the theatre.
-> He’s somewhat surprised when you reveal what you are, but not as surprised as he could be, he knows Bram after all. More curious than anything.
-> And with that curiosity comes a lot of questions, mainly in regards to what you know, or what you’ve seen. He finds your wisdom and memory to be fascinating, if not a little intimidating at times.
-> He may even find himself going to you for information and help regarding certain topics or situations. While he undoubtedly likes being independent (or more correctly has grown used to it), he can’t deny how nice it is to be able to actually turn to someone for such things instead of dealing with it all on his own.
-> His feelings towards your powers are positive for the most part.
-> Not only are they a pleasure to watch but they’re also incredibly useful.
-> With your permission he’ll start giving you tasks around the casino. They range from using your illusions to rig games to putting on shows as a way to keep guests entertained.
-> In some cases he may even ask you to manifest in a guests dream if he suspects them to be up to something or liable of causing trouble. The goal there being for you to find out if the suspicion was correct and to persuading the guest otherwise if it was.
-> After enough trust has been built up, and he can ensure that you know how to manage everything, he may even task you with transforming into him, as kitsunes are said to be able to duplicate a specific persons appearance. He’ll have you handle the people while he continues with his paperwork and he finds out that things run smoother with two people in charge, they get done quicker.
-> Which means more time to spend with you :D
-> He will also sometimes task you with patrols around the casino, to ensure the safety of both her and her guests.
-> Now one thing he hates about your powers is that you use them on him.
-> Sure never maliciously, but man they really do his head in at times. Between you and Kolya he’s surprised he hasn’t ripped all his hair out.
-> Speaking of Kolya, he loathes the idea of the two of you working together to annoy him. It’s gotten to the point that if he sees the two of you in the same room he just leaves immediately (if possible).
-> Despite this he is acutely aware that if you were to simply stop your little antics he’d be at a loss. He’d miss them, though he won’t ever admit such a thing, especially to the likes of you.
 -> They’re a nuisance, but they’re a part of his day nonetheless.
-> He loves touching your tails. Cuddling them, brushing them, simply running his hands along them. It’s absolute bliss for him, especially after a long day at the casino.
-> When the two of you are in bed he likes it when you use them as a blanket of sorts. He’ll be out in no time and it’s absolutely adorable.
-> Will also ask lots of questions about them. When you got them, how it felt, and so on.
-> Another one that gives you head pats, usually accompanied by a soft forehead kiss. Maybe even a rub behind the ears. Never comes off as condescending, just a little teasing.
-> Will let you scamper around his office in your fox form, as long as you promise not to knock anything off the shelves. He may even let you run around the casino like that too if you so wish.
-> Lovely lovely man is just so in love with you.
Chūya
-> Another one that isn’t all too surprised.
-> His first reaction to finding out was actually amazement, like “holy shit that’s so fucking cool”.
-> There’s an immediate respect for you when he finds out, along with a sense of camaraderie, understanding.
-> Ever since he found out what he was he’s struggled with his own humanity. He wouldn’t consider himself human, at least not fully anyway, and so to find out that the person he cares for most is also not human gives him a sense of comfort. Like he doesn’t have to worry about it as much anymore, it’s no longer as important as it used to be.
-> Now your more mischievous nature does remind him of Dazai to a degree, which is very annoying, but he also doesn’t hate it as much.
-> Don’t get me wrong, get him on the right day and he’ll be yelping like a chihuahua (sidenote: did you know that kitsunes are apparently deathly afraid of dogs?), but because it’s you it’s ultimately more endearing than anything.
-> He also finds your abilities to be useful, especially for keeping people in line. You’re intimidating, the most powerful person in the room at any given moment, a class A threat and he knows it.
-> Though he can never stop himself from worrying about you he’s a big fan of going on missions with you! All sorts, even just information collecting.
-> He does have a preference towards jobs that require fighting though. He enjoys watching you fight and he also enjoys showing off.
-> It also serves as a learning exercise of sorts. If he sees you do a move that looks especially cool he’ll tuck it away in his memory to practice later.
-> You also might know some tactics that would be useful for the mafia, and so next time there’s a meeting between executives he’ll bring them up to Mori, to see which ones would be wise to implement.
-> Now in regards to your mind he finds it to be something worth admiring and he’s not afraid of letting it be known. He has made it clear to his subordinates that your word should be held at the same level as his own, that you should be as respected as he is.
-> He adores listening to you speak, but even more than that he enjoys learning from you. He has no preference in what it’s about either, and while he isn’t fully interested in everything it serves as a lovely break from his duties either way.
-> Now surprise surprise, he’s a fan of your tails. Sometimes anyway.
-> Given his stature you could, hypothetically, completely hide him in them. I’m not saying you should of course, but I’m not saying you shouldn’t either. Just be prepared for him to ignore you for an hour or so.
-> His favourite form of affection regarding them is helping to groom them! Chūya is very big on looking his best and now that’s extended to you. The highest quality brushes and shampoo will be hand delivered to your doorstep, along with some udon and a bouquet.
-> He really enjoys the domestic nature of such a thing and you’ll find him leaving little kisses to your back and shoulders as he works.
-> Now something he doesn’t plan on admitting is that he wants you to sit on his lap in your fox form during a PM meeting. He thinks it’d make him look badass as all fuck.
-> Though, not as badass as you of course.

I need help crafting head canons and backstories for a BSD au I'm creating
I'm working on making head canons for a normal world no mafia no Ada or whatever au. For the most part I'm trying to take canon events and adapt them in a way where they could realistically happen, but for characters with more unknown or vague pasts I'm great for any HCs
Starting with Dazai, Dazai is not an orphan he was removed from his home by CPS when he was about 2. He was in the foster care system for a while, tossed around until he ended up in a home with Mori from ages 9-16. Mori was abusive, so Dazai ran away and lived in a shipping crate for a bit. Eventually he was taken in by Oda, who was a foster parent to mostly younger kids. He was there for 6 months but when he was out with Oda, Oda was killed in a mass shooting.
I know Dazai "improved" in canon after Oda died but I didn't give him a chance for this big long speech and there wasn't any reason for Oda to anyways, so Dazai completely spiraled after that. I have like a whole story written about that. But short things is his alcohol addiction got worse, he often spent days just not moving from Oda's grave and since you see him inject himself in season 5 and pop a pill in season 2, I have him experiment with drugs like fenty, shrooms, and heroin. Not addicted, just trying them out. Dazai is my most fleshed out in the au I'm creating, idk why.
Dazai bullies Akutagawa in school because of course he does.
Now for Chuuya I haven't finished stormbringer so my HCs for him might change. But.
He was also in foster care. I haven't fully fleshed out his life yet and I want some ways to integrate the sheep some how? But he entered the system when he was 8, I don't know why because I haven't finished storrmbringer. It varies from Verlaine killing his parents to them dying in a car crash so. Working on that. Verlaine went to a different home from Chuuya, he doesn't know him well he just hates him. I've been debating between having Kouyou be his sister or foster mother, but since I put Dazai with Mori I figured Chuuya could go with Kouyou and she'd just be a younger foster mom. I was also thinking I could find a way to make them in the same house? I really want the whole betrayal thing where Dazai leaves Chuuya and I thought it could be cool where Dazai left Chuuya in an abusive home to deal with it himself but I'm not sure, would it even make sense for him to have been with Mori?
Chuuya is in college, Dazai is struggling to get by. They still have their personalities obv so Dazai isn't like this sad mopey mess he's just a sad mess who mopes when he's alone and everyone doesn't really realize where he's at mentally
Mori has also fostered Yosano and Q, while having Elise as his bio daughter.
Atsushi and Lucy's backstories are basically the exact same as they are in canon
Akutagawa is homeless ofc, he just moves from place to place with his sister. His clothes are shit and he smells because he never showers so he isn't treated well at school. I'm tryna think if he'd go to college, also he's still got his terminal illness. I'm not sure how his need for Dazai's validation would come out in this au
Ranpo was adopted by Fukuzawa. His life was also basically the same. Yosano was also adopted by him.
I'm thinking Kunikida has a normal ass life with normal ass parents, just too much of an overachiever and on the verge of burnout but not allowing himself to burn out
Poe is rich. He was born rich, he's got money, that's all. I've got for him lol.
I'm trying to find ways to add the rest of the cast, I want to get all the characters in and get them lives and stuff made up.
If you have any suggestions to how I can expand this world I want to write fan fiction on it once I've fleshed it out a bit. Feel free to be like "actually no I dont like your idea, I think this would be better" because I'm open to any criticism on this, I just want it to be good and I'm not stuck on my ideas

The thing in season 4 which hopefully gets brought back up about having someone from the agency go to the PM, why or why not they will be going.
atsushi- I don’t think he will end up with PM because one, he’s the MC and two I think mori knows the trouble with keeping him there won’t be worth it in the long run.
dazai-dazai would kill mori most likely out of spite or dazai wouldn’t let that happen cause he usually almost always gets his way with these things(not in a mean way I’m saying this in a he’s smart kinda way)
Kunikida-I’m not sure about Kunikida but I’m going to say no cause yes he is tough but he wouldn’t be a worth while choice. I also think Mori would and other members would get tired of his personality.and his ability is good but the PM has stronger abilities.
ranpo- maybe, do I think Fukuzawa would find a way to get his basically son back into the agency, yes, but mori would also see the advantage in taking the agency’s most valuable asset.
tanizaki- I think due to him yes being a reacurring important figure, he also doesn’t have a ton of screen time.He wouldn’t make a dent in plot but he left and it would give us a chance to see some of his backstory. Also Tanizaki did almost murder mori making him a proving his morals can be put aside for other matters.
kenji-not really cause mori has chuuya and other heavy hitters on his side, kenji is also too nice and naive for mori,he can only be mean in his word angry mode, and that’s not permanent.
kyouka-no I think she’s safe aswell cause atsushi will definitely not let that happen. kyouyo might also persuade mori cause she sees how happy kyouka is.
Yosano-she is an automatic no cause of the deal mori and fukazawa had(i think)

“The greatest misfortune of Dazai’s enemies are that they are Dazai’s enemies”.
I think the thing people misinterpret about this is they figure Mafia-era Dazai was particularly brutal or cruel. Which I think shows a lack of imagination, because these are people that think Akutagawa is just a little rambunctious, and don’t bat an eye at Chuuya turning every single bullet from two dozen machine guns around midair to kill everyone. Cruelty and brutality are the norm in the Mafia. Dazai would have had to be one hell of a sadist to scare anyone on that front. Being hardened to violence and brutality is basic survival in the Port Mafia.
No, there’s two basic reasons for that quote and it’s this:
1) Dazai isn’t a sadist. The Mafia knows what to do with sadists. They know how to handle that. They also know how to handle pacifists that really don’t like hurting people but grasp mafia-survival necessity.
And Dazai isn’t either of those. Dazai just doesn’t give a damn. If hurting you will work, he will hurt you. If doing a little mindscrew will work, he will set up a little mindscrew. He takes no pleasure in any of it, but neither is there the slightest bit of hesitation. To a group that runs on brutality, this capability to take it out AND put it away at will is just...you know, kinda creepy. They’re used to that switch being harder to flip.
2) Dazai is very, very smart....and gives fuckall away. Consider how many people in the Port Mafia have abusive backgrounds. How many grew up with the violence. People who grow up around heavy violence learn to watch for it. They learn to read faces, they learn to read moods. It’s, again, basic survival to know when someone near you is happy with you, or unhappy with you.
But Dazai gives nothing away. Nobody who deals with him knows what he thinks of them. Nobody who deals with him has any kind of internal peace, the sort you’d get from at least knowing where you stand. And I’m pretty sure a lot of the PM characters that think they DO know where they stand with him are at least partially wrong. Dazai cultivates that on purpose and again, in a world like the Port Mafia, it’s going to unnerve people.
Nobody wants to fuck with him - because they have no idea how long his fuse is, what will light it, whether it’s already lit, or if it’s lit how long it’s been burning. And they have no way to know what form retaliation would take, or if they’d have any chance of seeing it coming.
It’s not quantity, in other words. It’s quality. He’s not MORE cruel or MORE brutal than anyone else in the Mafia. It’s just that ...well. He’s very, very good at leaving ‘what would happen to you’ up to your imagination.

Newsflash: Dazai cares for Chuuya
Before reading any further, I will be talking about stormbringer, so spoilers ahead!! Translation credits go out to: @popopretty on tumblr, make sure to give this kind human some love and appreciation<3
Also if you want to read the first few chapters of stormbringer: @buraihatranslations is currently translating it, give them much love and appreciation as well, they deserve it!!
Honestly, I have been so obsessed with Soukoku lately and I think the reason behind this is because when it comes to Soukoku, their feelings for each other are not as easy to grasp as love or hate, it is much more profound than that. There is care, hurt, trust, resentment, companionship, bitterness, and consideration...And ironically enough, thats just the tip of the iceberg.
If we break down their individual feelings towards each other, it will be easier to understand their bond.
On Chuuya's end, his feelings are much more clear due to his expressive personality. He wears his emotions on his sleeves, he can try and hide what he feels towards Dazai but his true feelings tend to unravel easily.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He sometimes tries to mask his feelings towards Dazai by throwing insults, but his facial expressions are enough to contradict what he is saying.
Tumblr media
Chuuya's feelings towards Dazai can be easier to comprehend. He obviously feels this certain betrayal due to the fact Dazai left the Port Mafia. Not to mention, he and Dazai have always had a rivalry relationship.
In the Soukoku wiki page, it is stated that Chuuya is aware of Dazai not experiencing a proper childhood, therefore allows him to act as childish as he can and lets him tease him relentlessly. I don't know how reliable this source is, but either way I think its worthy enough to add.
In the Dragon head conflict when Dazai was out of sight, Chuuya told Mori to forget about Dazai. That was until Hirotsu mentioned a microscope, Chuuya quickly realizes it was code language because he remembered a previous conversation where Dazai says he needs a microscope to be able to see Chuuya properly.
The moment he figured out it was a tracker, Chuuya did not hesitate to jump in and rescue Dazai. But here is the catch: No one but Chuuya knew about the microscope, if Chuuya really didn't care for Dazai he wouldn't have mentioned the microscope and kept all this under wraps, leaving Dazai in a mess.
Chuuya trusts Dazai with his life. He never hesitates to leave his life on Dazai's hands when it has to come to it. Chuuya and Dazai have known each other for years, for Chuuya to be able to trust Dazai that much is because Dazai also cares for him too, right?
The answer here is yes, Dazai cares for Chuuya. In a superficial level, it doesn't seem like Dazai truly cares, but I can assure you that he does care for him. Weather you like to think of his care in a platonic or romantic manner, the care Dazai has for Chuuya is undeniable and extremely significant for Dazai's character.
I think that stormbringer establishes this idea even further. There is one specific moment in this light novel that shows his genuine concern towards Chuuya's well being:
"There is one problem." Dazai cut off his sentence hesitantly. "It has nothing to do with the sucess rate of the plan. It is a matter we have to overcome in the end but... It may require some time to decide."
"What's with you?" Chuuya raised his eyebrows at Dazai. "Stop dramatizing it. Just hurry up and say it."
"I said earlier about this control spell to open the 'gate' that is used to reset the command inside Chuuya, right?" Dazai spoke with a strangely restrained voice. "If we use that, the logs of the command formula that were written in the past will be erased. That means...even if the memory erasure was used on Chuuya in the past, the traces of that will be erased as well."
"What?"
"I told you before right, the memory erasure command. The only way we can confirm if Chuuya is human or not is to check the history to see if the memory erasure command was ever used. It means..." Dazai looked at Chuuya with eyes that he had never looked at him before. Those eyes were serious. "If we use that control spell, the method to confirm if Chuuya is an artificial personality created by a string of code, or just a normal human being, will be lost. For good."
The time had stopped.
Chuuya opened his eyes and looked towards Dazai but his eyes were not seeing anything. The wind blew between the two of them. Even so, Chuuya did not blink.
"Verlaine became like that because he was tormented by the curse that he was not human. That only is enough of a big problem. The matter of being human or not." Dazai looked at his pocket watch, gave it a glance and continued. "I can delay the time until the plan starts for about two minutes. I will send an order for my men to wait... You can think about it alone for a while. Cuz I guess its hard for you to collect your thoughts with me around."
Having said so, Dazai turned away and walked down the stairs, leaving Chuuya alone.
Dazai fixated in his pocket watch. Two more minutes. Too short for a life decision. But he couldn't afford more than that.
Inside Dazai's head, he was planning a procedure to swith to an alternative plan in case Chuuya refused, at a tremendous speed.
This section in stormbringer is personally one of my favorites, this is a very rare moment between both of them, but especially for Dazai. Like I stated earlier Chuuya wears his emotions on his sleeves, therefore even if he tries to mask his care with insults, its still painfully noticable that he genuienly looks after Dazai. Chuuya also sometimes show a vulnerable side of himself to Dazai, especially after using corruption.
Dazai on the other hand is extremely unreadable. Its hard to understand his true intentions and if he really cares for people or only sees them as a pawn. In this moment though, Dazai was being painfully genuine. Dazai literally prioritized Chuuya over the mission. He was already thinking of coming up with an alternative plan just in case Chuuya refused, obviously the sucess rate of the alternative plan would be lesser than the actual plan Dazai had in mind, he choose Chuuya's wellbeing over a mission.
In this section, Dazai wasn't throwing jokes or witty remarks, he was being serious. Because Dazai knows how desperately Chuuya wants to be human. He knows how important being human is to Chuuya.
Dazai wasn't manipulating Chuuya by giving him the chance to decide, we can see that Dazai was literally showing a lot of hesitation when mentioning this to him, we also get to see what Dazai was thinking, and we can tell he wasn't thinking about manipulative his movements in any way. All of this wasn't coming out of manipulation, it was coming out of pure care.
After six steps, Dazai reached the stair. He stepped on the stair and started walking down. Three steps down the stair, he heard a *clang*, a cool sound of metal echoing behind him. It sounded like the metal was kicked by the sole of someones shoes. The moment Dazai realized what the sound was, Dazai turned around in surprise.
There was already no one at the top.
Dazai was dazed for a moment, then he loosened his lips and laughed.
"Trying to act cool, huh?" Dazai smiled, both annoyed and relieved. Then he turned on his radio and sent out his order. "Chuuya has sallied, everyone get ready for battle."
I personally love this part so much, relief washed over Dazai the moment he noticed that Chuuya was going to go through with the first plan, which proves my point that he wasn't manipulating him and how Dazai was under a lot of stress because he wasn't sure if the alternative plan would be as effective as his original one.
Yet he still was willing to go through the alternative plan if Chuuya refused, because Dazai values him and regards his wellbeing.
Dazai was being surprisingly gentle in this section, he was being honest. There was no ulterior motive behind his actions here, just a boy looking after his partner.
"So i'm going to send an order to my men to prepare for action... Is that okay?"
"Of course it's okay." Chuuya turned to Dazai. "Why are you asking me such a thing?"
Dazai didn't answer right away.
That was an unusual expression. It's like he was trying to say something, but he had to arrange the words in his head to decide where he should start. An expression he rarely shows.
This was right before Dazai drops the bomb to Chuuya about the memory erasure command. He was even asking for Chuuya's opinion on sending his men to get ready, this was the first time Dazai ever showed actual concern without masking it with witty remarks. You can tell that Chuuya isn't used to this.
And when you think about it, when Dazai and Chuuya have missions together, Dazai always uses corruption as a last resort and he always allows Chuuya to make the decision if they will be using it or not.
I personally belive that the main reason Chuuya trusts Dazai with using corruption is because The Sheep used to exploit his powers too much, but Dazai leaves the decision to use corruption up to Chuuya. Dazai understands the physical and mental toll corruption takes on Chuuya and therefore leaves the choice up to him.
Theres another section in stormbringer that I really enjoy, it doesn't necessairly show solicitude but I still think this should still be taken into consideration:
"You seem pretty confident that Chuuya is human, don't you?"
"I am," Dazai laughed with a sigh. "There is no way a man-made code could create such a personality that I detest so much."
Throughout the whole story, Dazai is more than determined that Chuuya is human. The main reason Dazai finds Chuuya so intresting is because of how frighteningly human Chuuya can be, because of the fact that he always wears his emotions on his sleeves, something Dazai rarely does himself. Thats personally a nice sentiment from Dazai's end, even when Chuuya struggles completely when it comes to believing in his own humanity, Dazai still can't help but see him as a human being.
Also I am aware that Dazai literally said he detests Chuuya here but he also sighed and laughed while stating this, showing us that he isn't being serious about hating him.
And its not only in stormbringer were he shows his concern towards Chuuya. In fact, in this following manga pannel Dazai is telling Chuuya that if he is willing to listen him, he will stage his own escape so that Chuuya doesn't get punnished.
Tumblr media
Honestly, if Dazai didn't care enough for Chuuya, he wouldn't have mentioned this to him. Chuuya didn't care enough to realize that he literally unwillingly freed Dazai which would get the pm mad at him, so the fact that Dazai is literally helping him out is no doubt out of care for him. If Dazai didn't have any regard for Chuuya he would've not staged his escape or mentioned anything to Chuuya, eventually incriminating him.
There are many misconceptions when it comes to Dazai's feelings towards Chuuya, people think that he doesn't care for him due to the fact that he left the Port Mafia, leaving Chuuya behind. But heres the thing: Dazai's intentions had nothing to do with Chuuya. He left the organization for his own good, he left it to fullfill Oda's wish.
"If Dazai cared for Chuuya then why didn't he take Chuuya with him?" the reason is simple, he knows how much the PM means to Chuuya. In stormbringer it is shown that Chuuya feels as if his humanity is attached to the people he is loyal to, in this case its the port mafia. Verlaine wanted to get rid of the pm because he believed that the pm is what kept Chuuya's humanity, eventually making Chuuya believe that he is only human if he stays loyal to the pm. Dazai knows this. Thats exactly why he didn't take Chuuya with him or even explains to Chuuya why he left, he knows it would be selfish to basically rip Chuuya's sense of humanity apart.
I have a feeling that if Dazai told Chuuya about the real reason he left the Port Mafia, Chuuya will not only feel conflicted about being in the pm, but he would also have an inner conflict with himself as a human.
People also think Dazai may not really care for him because of the fact that after the fight against Lovecraft he actualy deserted him, maybe that part was truly just supposed to be seen as simple humor, but either way I want to talk about it. Chuuya's only request to Dazai was to take him back to base safe, so why did Dazai leave Chuuya behind?
I mean he has carried Chuuya back to saftey before with no problem, for example in stormbringer when Chuuya uses corruption for the first time Dazai carries him back to the billiards bar and not to the mafia’s base so that he could say goodbye to his passing friends.
The reson behind this is because Mori needs to know that unlike Dazai, Chuuya is absolutely loyal to him. Leaving Chuuya the way he did will make Mori believe that these two really are at each others throats and that Dazai is insignificant to Chuuya. Making it seem that for Chuuya, the mafia comes first before anything else.
Therefore Dazai established Chuuya's saftey within the mafia since not only does Mori want these two to be hostile with each other, he doesn't want Chuuya to eventually turn against him if he truly found out more about Dazai's true reason of departure. Then again, this isn't canon but it is a logical assumption.
Not to mention that although Dazai did leave him behind, he folded Chuuya's coat and hat before taking his leave. There is also an an extra chapter where Ozaki Kouyou was talking with Chuuya but when he left he forgot his coat, which made Kouyou came across the coat; where she noticed a badge sewed inside saying "Name: Hatrack", she smiled fondly thinking to herself that some things just never change, in this case, Dazai and Chuuya's bond.
Tumblr media
Dazai literally took his time to sew this into his coat just to tease him, it was a simple gesture but it shows us how their dynamic will never change. No matter what these two go through, they will always share a bond that consists on teasing, trust and underlying care.
All of this actually makes that theory of Dazai planting a bomb under Chuuya's car for the sole reason that the PM doesn't find Chuuya as an acomplice who aided Dazai on his escape much more feasable.
For Dazai to just plant a bomb under Chuuya's car with no motive makes no sense because if Dazai's true intentions were to simply mess with Chuuya, he would've most likely made it clear at that time. Dazai always has an underlying motive behind his actions, and in this case it is very likely that he did that for Chuuya's sake.
Don't get me wrong, I am aware that the bomb incident could've just been a comedic moment and I shouldn't look too much into it, but there is still a posibility, right?
These two hold so much trust and care for one another, yet they also hold a lot of bitterness and resentment. In the end the good aspects of their dynamic outweighs the bad.
Either you see these two in a platonic or romantic way, you can't tell me that their bond isn't significant.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for reading!! I wanted to talk about this for a while because I feel like people misinterpret Dazai's feelings towards Chuuya a lot so I hope this clears up things a bit<3

Hey! if your not comfortable then ignore this, but can you do dazai and/or chuuya with an s/o that dyes her hair a lot? i do it almost every week because i cant decide what color to pick, female reader if you can!
chuuya and dazai w/ a S/O that dyes their hair a lot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Chuuya has no problem with your dyed hair, in fact it was one of the things that he found enticing about you
- If you see him often, he would be confused as to why you come with different hair each week. asked if it was a wig and tried pulling your hair🙁
- When you guys start dating, he would be slightly concerned about your hairs health knowing that bleach and dye can be damaging. once you tell him you take proper precautions to make sure your hair doesn't dry out, he asks if he can dye it for you once.
- Is like 😐 whenever he finds bright pink hair in the shower and you argue its not yours.
- I definitely see Chuuya as someone who's just good at hair, I headcanon that he was forced to braid Q and Elise's hair, so he has picked up a few tips.
- Helps you pick out colours and gives you advice. Makes his heart flutter if you do decide to choose the colours he chose.
- The first time he dyed your hair, he didn't know it would quickly become something he loved doing. Always offers to dye your hair whenever you do, just cause he sees it as a stress reliving, intimate moment with his lover.
- If you asked him, he would gladly match with you and dye a small strip of his hair. He would allow you to choose what section you want to dye.
- If someone at work were to make fun of it, he wouldn't get embarrassed or anything just annoyed that someone is indirectly making fun of one of your hobbies.
- Would most likely punch them (I would make fun of his hair just to get punched by him)
- He's a pretty hostile person anyway, so if someone were to sneer, or gossip idly about you- he wouldn't even think before he jumps in head first to beat the shit out of whoever it was.
- His villain arc🤥
Tumblr media
- He will literally dye his hair with you
- LOVES LOVES LOVES the way you style your hair, the eccentric and unconventionality is very appealing to him.
- Now we all know Dazai hates mundane and worldly normalities of life; so when he saw you with bright green hair one week and half purple half black the next, just know you already have his attention.
- Like Chuuya, he will accompany you will buying hair dye, and will give you unneeded 'professional' advice. Though his advice is usually satire- "You should get a buzzcut and bleach your hair fully, then dye a pink ball-sack on the top. Trust me y/n, it's what people are doing nowadays."
- He will also dye your hair for you if you trust him enough. Needs to be accompanied by someone, so DO NOT fall asleep while he puts chemicals in your hair, he will forgot to remove the bleach and burn your hair off.
- "You're bald now?😕 That's good, now you can do the buzzcut idea."
- He will definitely dye his hair to match you, but unlike Chuuya, he intend to dye it FULLY.
- like damn that shit would look ugly as fuck ngl
- Asked you to dye his hair blonde and put extensions in so he can match with Kunikida.
- He got an incurable beating that day, that he- and all of the agency will remember for the rest of their lives.
- If he hears any negative remarks about you, Lord give the person one more chance.
- Is exceptional at reading people, so he can and will figure out the persons insecurities in a matter of seconds and comment on it way more harshly than they did to you.
- Even if the person has no insecurities, he will unlock a new one for them.
- Ironic how he doesn't really care if anyone comments crudely about him, but when it comes to you he will not hold back.
- Why is Dazai suddenly kinda..

Fluff #12 for Chuuya. Can't think of anything else, I need more fluff in life Angst is breaking my already broken heart
Jsksk I feel u... angst is so bad for my health, lmao
This was lying in my drafts n I just realized that I hadn't posted it.. I'm so sorry x(
Warnings: swearing(?), fluff♡
Chuuya Nakahara + "People are jerks, but not you."
Tumblr media
“Chu, I was thinking, maybe you should gift your friend something for his birthday.”
You mused, hands fidgeting in nervousness. You know that Chuuya was a nice person, and that he hardly had any friends. He deserved to have nice people in his life, but he did not know how to maintain friendships. You also knew how aggressive he gets towards traitors. But you were sure that his friend probably had to betray the mafia, considering the manipulative nature of your boss.
“Which friend?”
You were an executive in the mafia. You had joined shortly after Dazai Osamu had left. You had caught Chuuya zoning out and missing his friend at times. You had been there for him during those trying times. That is what had brought you two so close. There were times when he used to make three cups of coffee, only to realise that it was just him and you, and that Dazai had left. It was heart-breaking. You had heard the rumours and had pieced together what must have happened. You guessed that maybe Chuuya’s friend missed him as much as he missed Dazai.
“Dazai. His birthday is coming up, right?”
Chuuya pushed himself off the bed, sitting up to glare down at you. You both were resting at your place after a particularly tiring mission. Your bodies needed to recover from the stress.
“Why the hell do you know his birth date?!”
You raised your arms to placate him, siting up to face him.
“I just did some research. But that’s not the point.”
Chuuya furrowed his brows at you, unable to figure out the reasoning behind your actions.
“Look, Chu, I know he was someone important to you, and that he left, but maybe he had his reasons. I think you could try and hear him out.”
Chuuya chuckled bitterly.
“You always see the best in others.”
“No, Chuuya, I am able to give others a second chance. I am no saint. Why don’t you try giving him the benefit of the doubt?”
He shook his head, getting off the bed and grabbing his coat.
“Where are you going?”
“Away from you.”
You grabbed onto his arm to stop him.
“Why? What did I do?”
He sighed, cupping your cheek.
“If I stay any longer, you will convince me to talk to that bastard. And I will deny, and it will lead to an argument. I don’t want to fight with you.”
“But-”
“No buts, sweets. I know what you’re trying to do, and I appreciate it, I really do. But I don’t think I can give him a second chance.”
You let go of him, nodding, and looking away.
“Hey, I didn’t mean to hurt you, love.”
Chuuya sat next to you, wrapping an arm around your waist.
“You fail to realise that there are some people out there that are monsters. Not everyone has a heart of gold. Not everyone is like you.”
You frown.
“I don’t have a heart of gold-”
“Yes, you do. People are jerks, but not you."
“Chuuya-”
“Listen, if it makes you happy, then I’ll talk to him. Okay?”
You smiled at him, happy to hear that.
“But you must accept that you’re amazing and see yourself as a good person, in return. I know you don’t think that highly of yourself, but you really are awesome. If you promise to accept your own worth, then I promise to give people a second chance.”
He kissed your nose.
“Deal?”
You smiled, nodding.
“Deal!”
He wrapped the blanket over the two of you, nuzzling into your neck.
“What do you plan on gifting him?”
“Not nowwww”
He whined, pulling you closer and wrapping his arms around your waist.
“All I want now, is your warmth.”
You giggled, hugging him back and resting your face on his chest.
“Okay, you big cat.”
“I’m not a cat!”
You threaded your fingers through his hair, resulting in a purr from your ginger.
“Not a cat, huh?”
“That’s not fair!”
You chuckled, kissing all over his face.
“I love you, Chu.”
He smiled.
“I love you too, dove.”

Okay okay I know that everyone is speculating that Chuuya is the mysterious figure but like,,, I think the whole bloody panel moment feels kinda out of character for him? Not that I think he ain't capable, FAR from it but I don't believe that Chuuya would massacre someone that brutally (with all the blood everywhere) My train of thinking ofc Chuuya could have probably had a bad day and went crazy LMAO
I mean I think that’s why I didn’t fully believe it was Chuuya (and honestly I don’t wanna get my hopes up accidentally lmaoo)
Chuuya does enjoy fighting but the massacre-like killing of the panel gives me more of an Akutagawa vibe
Tumblr media
The blood statins on the wall indicate an impactful blow but not only that, but some of them are high on the walls themselves.
Some reach below the wall and others are nearly at the ceiling. This reminds me vaguely of an ability capable of wiping them out at once or at least in one or two goes. Notice how there’s a literal pathway of bodies that leads to the door.
Tumblr media
Really only two abilities come to mind when seeing this killing style, Akutagawa’s or Chuuya’s. On the off chance it is another character, you have to take in their height as well.
Tumblr media
The person’s legs only reach to less than half of the wall panel if I had to guess. And even when they’re in front of the door, they’re small in comparison to where the hinges are located in it. Obviously Akuatagwa is not a contender in this guessing game. Chuuya is but there are other factors that make me feel unsure it is him.
For example, there are no impact markings on the wall or floor. I’m not sure if this is done hastily perhaps that’s the reason for no marks but when Chuuya fights, he generally leaves impacts due to his gravitational ability.
Tumblr media
Honestly for a character that fights a lot, I can’t say much about his actual fighting style. His victims are usually killed with precision. Take the scenes in Fifteen Arc for example. When he merely shoots them with their own bullets.
But personally the smirks match up
Tumblr media
If it is Chuuya, he is annoyed (which makes sense considering who he’d have to save) or bothered by something (also makes sense considering what’s currently happening to the port mafia). Since this killing is honestly very brutal and filled with either unneeded violence or annoyance and haste.
I also don’t see why Nikolai and Sigma would save Dazai since Fyodor and him are clearly moving their own chess pieces and trying to outdo the other. Saving Dazai from prison sounds strangely counterintuitive for Fyodor’s plans. (Unless he’s got something up his sleeve)
What does make sense is the two panels actually showing two different scenes. As someone mentioned previously, Nikolai and Sigma were never actually shown in the same panel as Dazai. In fact, the shadowy figure appeared in Dazai’s frame. Not Sigma or Nikolai. So perhaps it’s Nikolai and Sigma talking to Fyodor and Dazai screaming is lungs off in front of a different person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice that their shoulder padding is sharper and creased. It looks like a coat basically (once again Akutagawa or Chuuya vibes) Sigma’s coat is generally rounded with a shape-ish edge but he’s also standing behind Nikolai. It would make sense for the black figure to be the leading one (Nikolai in this case) but Nikolai has rounded shoulders.
There’s one last thing I want to point out here that I haven’t seen many people take into account
Tumblr media
The ability used to drag Dazai under? Look familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then again I’m a weak Chuuya simp so maybe I’m just grasping at straws and Asagiri is gonna bitch slap me and tell me I’m wrong

May ask for headcannons for chuuya, Mori, fukuzawa, dazai, and fyodor with an empath s/o. A downside to being an empath though is there a/o is constantly tired from feeling there emotions aswell as any other ones around them(on the street) as a result of this they don’t leave the house often and simply work from home. On the upside s/o can tell when there lying or hiding something from them and isn’t afraid to call them out are there bullshit.
I know this was a long request and if you Wright it, I want to say thank you because I’ve had this idea for a while now and just never asked anyone so if you Wright it thank you very much. Love you and you writing ❤️
a/n: hi anon, i decided to go with dazai, chuuya and fyodor :) and sorry for the long wait! 💗
Tumblr media
honestly? dazai was terrified of you at first. he’s the kind of person to hide his true and fragile feelings. it was a long process, but you cared too much to let dazai face his demons alone. slowly, after seeing your dedication and care, the clown let his act fall in front of you.
it was a good thing that you weren’t afraid to call dazai out on his bullshit, because everybody knows he needs it. although he doesn’t need someone to control him, dazai needs someone who tells him when things are problematic or not.
dazai is usually smart enough to recognize when somebody is lying or hiding something, but it still did something to him when you could, too. he used his logic, you used your feelings. opposites yet the same. it made dazai feel less alone in his struggle to feel human.
this man will absolutely call you a few times a day for three reasons: one, he desires your attention. two, he wants to annoy kunikida by calling you during work time. three, he knows being physical present can be exhausting for you.
nevertheless, dazai takes you out in the nighttime. he would make sure to avoid crowded places and together you’ll walk through the lightened streets of yokohama.
dazai makes sure nothing gets too overwhelming for you at those rare moments you leave your home. he can read you well, so he notices when your environment is too much for you. in that case dazai always knows how to make the situation less intense and escorts you away from it. if the situation calls for it, dazai will leave you alone at home.
in short: i do think it’s going to be a very hard and long process for dazai to feel comfortable around you, but with care and time it will succeed. although i can see dazai as a clingy lover, i also see him as someone who needs a lot of space and time for himself. so,he wouldn’t mind if his presence is too overwhelming for you. he’ll support you through phone calls and text messages.
Tumblr media
chuuya would take you being an empath very seriously. he cares so much about your feelings and he doesn't want you to get overwhelmed.
it actually works quite well that you work from home since chuuya has a busy job. and just like dazai, chuuya would call or text you during work.
chuuya wasn't the one to lie or hide something from his significant other if it wasn't to protect them, but he learned the hard way that he can't hide anything from you. when chuuya doesn't want to talk about something that happened at work or in his personal life to protect you, you'd call it bullshit and demand him to tell you. chuuya admired that dedication to help him even though it could overwhelm you. your dedication and your feisty side made you even more attractive.
something chuuya also admired was how well you seemed to know him. since you were sensitive to others emotions, you knew those of his as well. it would regularly surprise chuuya whenever you seemed to exactly know what he was feeling. it made chuuya realize that he truly couldn't hide anything from you. a smile would appear on his face when he thought of that. there were no secrets in your relationship, only love and the desire to help each other.
chuuya is very protective of you and what other people's opinions are. he doesn't want you to feel misunderstood or someone to make fun of your lifestyle. he would educate them on empaths after he calmed down.
chuuya finds communication very important. he texts and calls you, but he also wants you to admit when you're feeling drained or unwell. even though chuuya is a sympathetic guy, he doesn't feel others emotions like you. he wants you to feel comfortable.
in short: chuuya will make sure to always support you and to make sure you always know that you can rely on him.
Tumblr media
fyodor is aware of what being an empath means to you and to be honest, he isn't afraid to manipulate that into his favor.
he would use it for you as an excuse why he wants you to stay at whatever his location is so you don't have to deal with many people's emotions. however, you're not that easy to control and know how to stand up for yourself. even though fyodor is a really cunning person who knows how to move certain things, he's impressed by your direct way of saying things.
when fyodor takes care of your security if he has to leave for his striving, then he makes sure again that the people are limited but very skilled.
you sometimes scare him with how well you know what's going on in his mind. fyodor is cunning and tried to give opposite signals of what he's truly thinking, you always figure it out. he finds its very impressive and sometimes wonder how helpful that could be.
high sensitive people tend to find more pleasure than others when they listen to music. if you're too drained by emotions then fyodor will play the cello for you. it makes him feel calm, too.
i don't know how much you agree on his ideals, but fyodor is quite manipulative and controlling. so, you probably should have to call him out a lot. fyodor will realize soon you're not that easy to control even though you are higher sensitive than others.
in short: i think fyodor would be careful around you and that he doesn't have a high chance to manipulate you. he maybe doesn't show it as obvious, but he takes care of you.

PRESENT.
“Boss, the VIPs are here to see you, they’re being held down at the lobby. Do you want to send them up here?”
The chair swirls around, revealing the man behind the table, a picture of perfect composure. A curt nod is all it takes for the goon to leave the room, ready to escort the guests up.
Once the doors are closed again, he puts the cigarette out on his ashtray, exhaling that last puff of smoke. Gloved fingers intertwine together as he ponders long and hard about how he should greet them later.
The man eyes the drawer under his table, the bottom leftmost one — the special drawer. He opens it languidly to unveil a stash of letters, too many to count at one glance. That’s not surprising though. After all, it’s twelve years’ worth of letters. He grabs the top one, beady eyes glossing over its contents. He folds it back along the same lines.
They all look the same. Made out to him, but with no return address.
Tumblr media
TWELVE YEARS AGO.
“They found someone at the house. We have him right now.”
The man on the other line seems to still have something to say, but the redhead doesn’t allow him. It’s a matter that can’t wait.
“Keep him there, make sure he doesn’t leave.”
Chuuya leaves the rest of the torturing to his colleagues as he exits the premises. He recalls what his subordinate reported earlier. ‘Him’? He scoffs. It’s been six years since you left the mafia and basically vanished into thin air. Which is a considerably long time, but Chuuya still can’t wrap the possibility around there being a new guy in your life.
Besides, the redhead didn’t do anything wrong. Why did you have to leave without a word? Why did you feel the need to leave at all, even? It couldn’t be stress. No way. You worked at the Port Mafia casino, yes. You were in charge of it all, and it did anything but stress you out. You loved working there. You loved the gamble. You absolutely revelled in the risk.
They put you in charge of the casino for more reasons than one. You were very calculative, very meticulous. You always had your moves planned out beforehand and you were always able to tell your opponents’ hand without even having to cheat. The gambling was definitely one of the reasons why you were so good at manipulating people. It was also one of the reasons why even Mori asked for your help in some cases.
But your best quality as a mafioso?
Your unpredictability. Or, as Mori dubbed it, your insanity. In both gambling and in general. You had helped the mafia win favours over more than just a few officials by winning against them — be it in poker or any other games. You weren’t even below playing russian roulette. Sure, Chuuya had been worried at first, but after a while it was pretty clear you’d always make it out of it safe — was it luck or was it pure calculation, or a mixture of both perhaps? Chuuya doesn’t really question it. And when it came to planning missions, your unconventional methods always helped, because no one would ever see it coming.
That blew up in his face though. You left him without any clues pertaining to your whereabouts or why you left in the first place. He thought you left along with his ex-partner, that maybe it had something to do with him. But it was apparent that wasn’t the case. Not when you didn’t surface at all even when Dazai did. He couldn’t help but keep thinking of potential things that happened to you. Did you leave because you met someone else? Doubtful. But given how long it’s been, it’s certainly not out of the question that you already did meet someone else by now.
You’re beautiful, smart, fun. You’re everything anyone could wish for. You’re so understanding that sometimes Chuuya questions where you get your patience from. You were just perfect, in every sense of the word.
Chuuya groans just thinking of everything. Even after being kicked to the curb, why is it that now he is still attracted to you? Lucky he was, though. Because that’s the only reason he agreed with Mori’s plan to put all efforts into seeking you out. You were incredibly elusive, and a pain in the ass because of that. And had it not been for a certain intense war against an enemy organisation, they would’ve let you go on with your life, wherever you ended up. You’ve been very quiet, not spreading anything about the mafia, or else Mori would’ve picked up on it. Very well-behaved, and a pardon would’ve been your reward.
But even the best needs help sometimes. And Mori specifically wants yours. He probably figured Chuuya was the biggest factor that would tilt things in their favour, and he agrees. Which is why he heads this mission in the first place. Not only is he the biggest shot at getting you back, but he wants to see you. Wants to know exactly why you left him the way you did.
Closure. He wants closure.
Life is funny though. Because he ends up with more questions than answers when he opens the door to his office.
Suddenly all the idle chatter he passes by in the hallway makes sense. The ones that just skip past his ears because he’s too deep in thought about you. He remembers the gist of them though. Things like “he’s so cute, like a model,” and “right? I think he looks handsome” (to which Chuuya was slightly annoyed by because he thought it was referring to your new beau).
But no, he wasn’t greeted with a man. He opened his doors to find a boy with eyes as blue as the ocean sitting on his desk, fiddling with his pens. Eyes that remind him of the exact shade he looks at in the mirror everyday. Chuuya hurriedly shuts the door, locks it, and steps hesitantly toward the boy.
This boy… looks roughly about six years old. And Chuuya feels his breath hitching in his throat. That’s around the time you went missing. He feels everything closing in around him, the fear of why you left him finally being made clear to him.
Weirdly enough, the boy isn’t the tiniest bit scared. His head is tilted, fingers still fiddling with Chuuya’s fountain pen, and waiting for Chuuya to reach him. He blinks his little eyes, before finally smiling up at him after a while. He opens his mouth, a simple word leaving his delicate lips.
“Daddy!”
Chuuya isn’t even allowed a further minute to process it before he hears knocking on the ceiling and someone falls through the vent onto the floor; one with an all-too-familiar figure. And who flashes an all-too-familiar grin.
✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Half an hour later Chuuya finds himself struggling to process all the information you’ve unloaded on him. He observes as his son draws on a random piece of paper he’s found lying around, in the other side of the room.
“You let them think they’ve captured our son, when in reality you were waiting for them to?”
You nod. Chuuya internally facepalms himself. How is it that you’re able to gamble with this, too? With your — and his — son’s life on the line? You basically left him there to be abducted, knowing that they won’t do anything without Chuuya’s permission (who’s to say he wouldn’t have allowed them to torture the kid? Well, he wouldn’t, but still…) and then sneak yourself past security and into his office, all in the hopes of letting him know he has a son?
Then again, you wouldn’t bet something like that if you didn’t believe that things would absolutely go your way. He’s been with you for so long before, he’s familiar with your moves and the way you think. Not completely, but good enough.
It was so brilliantly simple. (Also, you used to sneak into his office through the vents when your relationship was still under wraps, so it really wasn’t a surprise to him that you chose to sneak in through there now.)
“Why now, after all this time? Why tell me now?”
For a moment he catches a brief look of guilt wash over your face. You lie back on the couch on your spot next to him, and close your eyes, as though bracing for an outburst as his response.
“I didn’t want to tell you at all, at first…” you trail off, the guilt completely taking over you now. “I only came now because… I want you to get Mori off my back.”
Now Chuuya understands why.
So, you didn’t even intend to give him a chance to meet his son, let alone let him be involved in any part of your life. But you only appeared because you knew Mori would come after you, demand for your help. The only reason you showed yourself today… was to convince Chuuya to help you. Because if there’s anyone who could convince Mori to back off, Chuuya could. And you understood that all too well.
Chuuya can just laugh at himself right now. How foolish is he, to think that you came back because you still harboured feelings for him. How pathetic of him.
He can sense his expression growing grim. Not that he’ll make any attempts to conceal it. His cerulean eyes travel from his son to you. You seem a little less guilty now, though. You look… at peace, somehow.
“What makes you think I’ll do what you want?”
“Because you want to prove me wrong.”
Your answer catches him off guard, and his anger is replaced by utter confusion. You take his silence as your cue to explain.
“I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t think you’d make a good father and do what’s right for our son. Prove me wrong. Keep our son away from this. Do what a good father would and give him a chance to grow up normal.”
Chuuya scoffs. So that’s why you didn’t tell him anything. Never told him you were pregnant. Never hinted at a goodbye. You’d rather be branded a traitor like Dazai instead of having to make Chuuya choose between you and the mafia. He knows; if you set your mind on something, it’s hard to change it. And in other situations it might’ve been negotiable, but not with your baby.
You know Chuuya would never betray the mafia. That’s why you think he’d never make a good father. Because he can’t put you or the baby first. And now… Now you come with good faith. You’re trying to believe that he can learn to be a good father.
Starting with this choice.
This impossible choice.
Except not really. He knows what he’ll end up choosing anyway. You were right. If he knew you were pregnant he’d have convinced you to stay with the mafia, convinced you that he’d make sure the baby is well-protected. But then he’d be missing the point of your whole argument. You grew up in the mafia, and technically, so did he. You knew how it didn’t allow a chance at normalcy, and you didn’t want to strip your baby of that choice. You wanted your child to at least have a taste of what being normal is like, before you ultimately let them choose what they want.
Now, even if he gives an unfavourable reply, he knows you’d do anything to keep his son away from the mafia. It’s only a question of whether or not you’d have to struggle against Chuuya for it.
Silently, he stretches a hand out to you as he gets up from the couch. He can see the subtle surprise on your face. You’re impressed, aren’t you? He has on the best poker face since you’ve met him. You can’t guess what he’s thinking, this being the first of such instance since you’ve met him. He doesn’t say a thing when you ask him what he’s up to, only continuing to offer his hand to you, keeping mum.
A gamble, a risk you’d have to take. You can either take his hand and see where he leads you, which could lead to you getting your way or it could just lead to total destruction. Or, you can refuse, and then you’d have to figure a way out on your own. Which Chuuya doesn’t doubt you’d already have ingrained in your head.
But he knows you’ll choose the former. Why? It’s the only one where an inherent risk is present. Because you’d be totally in his mercy.
And that’s why you find yourself flown out of the headquarters, onto some random building’s rooftop. A perfect view of the setting sun and an even more perfect view of your old lover, striking crimson locks imitating the beauty of the orange sunset.
Looks like it paid off.
“Will you let me know where you’re staying? A child needs his father,” Chuuya asks you, your fingers intertwined in his, and you forgot just how much you missed this; him.
“And the mafia needs you.”
A swift rejection, but he’s not going to give up so easily.
“I have a right to know. He’s my son too.”
You inch closer to him and he feels like his heart is going to leap out of his chest. It’s been six years since he’s been this close to you, and he can’t believe he has to let you go again. With your son in tow, too. Without so much as a clue as to where you’re going to move to. No way to find out. Given that they only managed to find you in the first place because you wanted to be found.
“Maybe if you’re the boss or something.”
Tumblr media
PRESENT.
Now here he is, sitting in the office, new king of the Port Mafia. And his two very important guests are making their way up here. Chuuya hurriedly puts the letters back away. They were how you communicated with him, updated him on you and your son. Though you never put any return address, so Chuuya couldn’t send one back even if he wanted to. Also, you didn’t include any photos, so Chuuya is curious how his son has turned out.
Your timing is impeccable, to choose to visit him just as he’s taken over the office. He suspects maybe you have your ways, what with the vast amount of officials you have wrapped around your finger.
But as the doors open, every other thought he has is thrown out the window. You enter first, and his face lights up, seeing those familiar pair of eyes, so warm, so inviting now. And behind you, your son, now slightly taller than you (and probably Chuuya but he refuses to think of that), greeting him with a polite nod and a smirk on his face.
A wave of understanding washes across his child’s face when he spots something hanging on the wall behind his father.
“Hey! You kept the drawing I did when I first came here!”
He had drawn the three of you together, with himself in the middle, his parents on either side of him, holding his hands and walking in a park.
Chuuya chuckles. “Of course, it was the only thing your mom let me remember you by.” He shifts his gaze over to you as your son gets the hint, moving to admire another far corner of the room.
You let yourself fall into his arms, and Chuuya hugs you tight. Because it’s taken eighteen years. A long, torturous eighteen years apart, which honestly was a run in circles, though it was a necessary one. But now finally, he can be together with you, and his son. Chuuya looks down at you with the warmest gaze you’ve ever seen, wet eyes threatening to spill with tears any moment now.
“Welcome home, my love.”

Note
hiii I just recently read the bsd x haikyuu oc story and I can't express how giddy I got reading it IEHDIXHDIS is it okay if I request hcs of maybe how the team would react if a male member from another team (e.g terushima) hits on the girls and won't back off even after they say no? thank you sm!! I'm excited for the next chapters <33
Uh it is more than okay please request away! I hope this is okay I enjoyed writing this
Oda Sakunosuke: Oda is well aware the girls can take care of themselves, they’re more than meets the eye, but watching Tanaka try to make Higuchi swoon was getting increasingly more infuriating especially as she told him and quote “You aren’t my love go away” okay maybe a little more swearing blame the pinkette for that. As the Captain he felt he needed to step in- not to protect her no he has more faith in her than that but to steer her away and give a solid glare to the second year. Hopefully he gets the hint
Tumblr media
Chuuya Nakahara: Chuuya has known Ryoko for a damn long time and he knows she’s pretty attractive, she’s tall, lean with light muscles and very smart what’s not to find at least cute. She’s got a mean streak and in honesty he’d probably leave her to deal with it but if it kept going and Tendo didn’t back off soon he was going to snap and use Corruption. Not unlike Oda he has faith in her but he’s also a cranky guy and that shits just plain annoying so good chance he’ll yell at them for not leaving her alone.
Tumblr media
Osamu Dazai: Now while Dazai can seem aloof, crazy, bored or even high he’s actually very protective of the first years and Gin is like his little sister- sure he’s a bastard but it’s not like he has much say in what he does at the school. It was the middle of a game and Dazai was very ready to setter dunk the ball into Atsumu’s face. He may look calm and collected but if you look close enough you could see the gleam of irritation as he warned the opposing setter to stop before threatening to sick her brother on him.
Tumblr media
Ichiyo Higuchi, Ryoko Fukami & Gin Akutagawa: while Higuchi and Ryoko don’t get along they are going to set aside their differences for things like this. Ryoko gets this shit enough Gin and Higuchi don’t need it either. Unlike the boys the girls threats are moreso promises- someone should really tell Yamamoto that before the knives come out to play because it looks like they are getting pretty mad- get the boys a throw down is about to occur!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Atsushi Nakajima: Atsushi can’t decide what’s worse seeing the girl you are crushing on (Gin) get hit on by Nishinoya or Higuchi trying to hit on the guy who doesn’t like you aka your crushes brother. Atsushi doesn’t like conflict so he’s more than likely going to get Ryunosuke and tell him what’s going on before going back, gently grabbing Gin’s hand and snickering as the second year rips into Nishinoya until his own team rushes over to see what’s wrong.
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke Akutagawa: He doesn’t like people. That’s not a hardeharhar ey people suck okay maybe it is a little bit but he has no desire to have anything to do with relationships he’s still figuring himself out and he’s used to Higuchi’s pining but even still watching both her and his sister getting hit on by a couple boys from Itachiyama was making him fume. He’s definitely going to tell Dazai and ask if he can go use Rashoumon on them. He isn’t allowed to but at least he asked right? He’d wander over sneer very present on his face and not so kindly tell them to leave the girls alone.
Tumblr media
Fyodor Dostoevsky: One might call him Ryoko Fukami’s best friend, (some have even suggested Chuuya was that) they tease and mock eachother and tolerate very little shit which makes them good teammates. Fyodor might be the manager and he might be a touch of a lazy bones but he’s efficient and on more than one occasion has threatened anyone from even daring flirt with Ryoko because unless you have genuine interest in her he finds it gross. Not that he cares (he does) if Oikawa happens to be scooting closer to her and invading her personal space and it’s not like he cornered him later before bed with threats and promises of missing body parts... I mean he told the coaches he was being odd Yep that’s it.
Tumblr media
Junichiro Tanizaki: Junichiro might just be a first year but he is a big brother and the girls have in kind become sisters to him- we’ve seen how he is with Naomi in trouble now add Higuchi, Fukami and Gin into the mix you get psycho eyes. You know Hinata’s scary blank face yeah that on Junichiro what is this red heads are scary day? He’s used to seeing the girls get hit on on and off the court but it doesn’t make it any better especially if he can see when they start to get uncomfortable and he might just throw hands but you didn’t see anything.
Tumblr media
And Bonus since Shiratorizawa’s manager Rika is also an OC
Shiratorizawa: Furious. She’s tiny and all those bastards are giants so imagine them standing around her while she’s getting more and more uncomfortable. She can defend herself yes but it gets overwhelming some days and let’s just say Ushijima is scary (we knew that) but did you know Semi was scarier?

I’m No Angel, I’m Just Me
Rating: G Pairing: Oda Sakunosuke / Dazai Osamu Major Tags: Fluff, Friends to Lovers, CAREFUL; Ango’s a Hero Summary:
Odasaku gets a box. A heart-shaped box of chocolates on Valentine's Day. Ango looks rather bored in comparison to his puzzlement.
"Who would send me-"
Ango stares at him like he can't tell if he's being serious or not. "Are you kidding me."
Alternatively: Odasaku is oblivious, Dazai is ridiculous, and Ango is a goddamn saint who deserves a raise.
Word Count: 2,432 AO3 LINK
It begins like this. He's just sitting at the bar with Ango, discussing the latter's latest reports on weekly finances, when the bartender speaks, "Ah, Oda-kun?" He raises his head. The bartender offers a small smile. "I had a special request to give this to you." He bends over his side of the counter and when he straightens up, he has a little box in red in his hands. It's a heart shaped box. In the mafia, Valentine's Day is a joke; Port Mafia has their own little running tradition/gag. Instead of giving gifts to the person you love the most, you send candy to the person you like the least. Every year without fail, Dazai gets two or three subordinates to help him lug the bags of Chuuya's treats to the bar. Ango and Odasaku will each take a single piece or two upon being offered, while Dazai pick out all of his favorites. Then he tells Odasaku to take as much as he can for the kids and then asks if he still has contacts with that orphanage in the west of the city.
That’s why he doesn’t really understand what's going on right now. The bartender passes him the box. The heart shaped box. Full of chocolates.
In comparison to his puzzlement, Ango looks rather bored.
"Who would-"
"You already know the answer to that," Ango rolls his eyes.
Odasaku raises a brow at him.  "What are you implying?"
Ango glances at him. Then stares, like he can't tell if he's being serious or not. "Are you kidding me," he mutters, pulling out his phone, jabbing at the buttons with a certain kind of ferocity and then says into it, "...Dazai-kun?"
"Ango!" Dazai's chirp sounds through the loudspeaker. "How are we doing on this fine-"
"Did you know," Ango interrupts, holding the phone out a few inches from him like it's toxic. "That Odasaku received some chocolates today?"
"Is that so? I'm not surprised! Even though Odasaku isn't very well known among the mafia, he is an attractive, thoughtful, and intriguing single man! It's too bad he isn't actively looking, because if women knew about him they'd be stumbling over one another to give him things, and I don't think either you or I could stand the jealousy!"
"Is that so," Ango says flatly, and then barrels on. "Well. We're trying to figure out who sent them but we could use some help. When are you coming by?"
Odasaku is sure he looks completely bewildered but tries to focus when they get a hum from Dazai.
"Another hour or so! I bought Chuuya a gummy bear as big as him and I'm trying to figure out where to put it..."
"Is that so." Ango looks bored again. "In the meantime, will you share your brilliant deduction skills with us, Mister Executive? Figuring out Odasaku's secret admirer is some tough stuff. I'm stumped."
"I'd be delighted, Special Intelligence Officer! What do you know so far?"
Ango yawns. "Not much. The note-" Ango pauses, as if he's remembering something; still, Odasaku sure doesn't remember there being a note? "The note has neat handwriting so it's probably a woman's."
"Huh. Just to be clear," Dazai sounds very careful, all of a sudden. "There's a love letter? With the chocolates? Addressed to Odasaku?"
"Yeah."
"Huh. This is...interesting." Dazai says, not sounding particularly interested. "Ah, I've decided I'll send Chuuya his gift tomorrow, for the surprise factor. I'm heading to Lupin now."
"Alright, see you soon." Ango responds, promptly hanging up and fixing Odasaku with a look. "Well?"
Uh. Odasaku raises a brow. "Could I get a translation. What was all that just now?"
Ango puts his head down. "What am I going to do with you, Odasaku-san." he mumbles, before clearing his throat and fixing his glasses. "Okay. So. It may come as a surprise to you, but Dazai-kun is the one who sent you the chocolates."
Odasaku blinks. "What?" Why would Dazai do that? He's pretty sure Ango's quite off the mark this time. In fact, now that he's had a chance to think on it, it's more than likely it's an odd choice of prank from one of the other errand boys.
"Trust me," Ango interrupts his guesses as to whom it likely is. "It's Dazai."
"Why would Dazai-"
"I heard my name!" And the man of the hour walks in, with a smile as bright as the sun. "Let me get a crack at this-" His gaze shifts to the box in Odasaku's hand. "Oh. Odasaku really is popular. Is that a second gift?"
Before he can speak, Ango says, "Dazai, he knows it's from you."
Dazai opens his mouth. Closes it. "Oh."
"Yeah."
"Huh." Dazai says, scratching his head. "How did you know?"
This feels like a very bizarre dream, and it might be, because putting aside whatever is going on, it seems like the rules say he just doesn't get to speak. Again, Ango answers for him. "I'm a Special Intelligence Officer, Dazai-kun. Anyways, better question: where are my chocolates?"
"Your chocolates."
Ango looks at Dazai like he's the crazy one. "Uh, yes? My chocolates? I thought you were giving them to all your friends?"
Dazai breaks out into a grin. "Of course, I was!" He reaches into his jacket. Ango is handed a candy bracelet. "A friendship bracelet, if you will!"
"...is this Chuuya's candy-"
"I was kidding!" Dazai says, reaching into his jacket again. "You're no fun, Ango." And this time he pulls a little box the size of his fist, white with a little brown bow over the top. Now Ango wears surprise as he takes the box and examines the entire package before taking off the top. Indeed, there are chocolates there.
"...huh," says Ango.
"I know you didn't get me friend-chocolates back," he beams at Ango. "But it is okay, because I love you no matter what, Ango!"
"Thanks, Mister Executive," Ango stands up. "If you'll excuse me, I need to use the restroom." He disappears in an instant.
Dazai signals to the bartender. "Boss, will you get me a coffee? I'll need it to wash Chuuya's crap down. I should probably eat some, just to show him I appreciate how we maintain our mutual distaste for one another, right, Odasaku?"
Odasaku thinks about answering but then vetoes the idea, decides to ask, "Did you really send this?" with a little gesture to Dazai's apparent present to him.
Dazai clears his throat. "I did! Now where are Odasaku's other gifts. We'll figure out who sent them to Odasaku and then maybe we'll track her down, the two of you will go on a date and then kiss kiss, fall in love." Dazai's smile doesn't look very Dazai in the moment.
Odasaku makes an awkward shrug. "Ah...I'm not sure what Ango was trying to say but he made that up. Maybe he thought it'd be funny, or something?"
"Huh. Dazai says, pressing his lips together. "Did he."
When Odasaku does the same, Dazai's look fades away to a reassuring smile. This one's more real than the other one, Odasaku can see. But it's still not real enough for his preference.
He glances at the box he's placed on the counter, halfway between them. "Thank you, Dazai." He says. "No one's made me friend-chocolates before." And even though Dazai seems to be good at everything he does, he still took time and effort to make a gift for Odasaku. It's...really really sweet of him actually.
"Ah. They're not..."
"They're not...?" Made? When he'd looked at them, he thought they had to be made from an amateur's mold equipment.
Dazai doesn't reply. And when Odasaku looks at him closer, Dazai shakes his head and his bangs fall into his face, hiding his eye for a second. Odasaku feels an impulsive urge to reach over and tuck those strands behind his ear.
Head still down, Dazai talks to the floor. "Will you try them?"
Odasaku blinks. In the middle of Ango's enormously confusing behavior, he hadn't considered the idea at all but now there's no reason not to. He pops the lid off and places it on the side, then picks up a simple semi-sphere piece and brings it to his tongue. And. Wow. "It's...it's really good." He glances at Dazai, who doesn't look as pleased as Oda is used to seeing in situations like this, considering the occasions where Dazai makes him curry or the three of them hotpot, and a compliment sends Dazai into his little show of mock horn-tooting. "How...how long did it take you to learn how to make these?"
"Not very long." Dazai gives him a soft smile- this, this is the one Odasaku likes to see. Wants to see more often. "It was fun learning."
Odasaku nods his chin to the box. Dazai, agreeable and good-natured, picks up a triangular piece with rounded edges. His has caramel or something filling it inside, because a bit of sunset orange leaks out of the sweet when he bites down. It spills onto his lower lip before he swipes his tongue and licks it back into his mouth. Odasaku doesn't realize he's staring until Dazai glances at him, almost curious. Odasaku blinks, then gives the box on the counter a little push towards Dazai, who shakes his head a little. "I shouldn't spoil my appetite. Since Chuuya tried to outbuy me again...the least I should do is outeat him, right?"
"Do you ever let him win?"
Dazai grins again and then conversation about even sillier things breaks out.
A few hours later, Odasaku's in his study room when he gets a call that fills the entire apartment. It's Ango. "Hi, it's Oda-"
"Yeah, hey, so, uh? What the hell?"
He pulls the phone from his ear. "What? Also assuming your bladder didn't burst, next time let Dazai and I know you have to go. We were wondering where you were."
"You-" Ango exhales. "Odasaku-san. I." There's a muffled crackle and then a distant yell, like Ango covered the microphone to shout to the void.
"Ango?"
"Right. You listen very carefully," says Ango, in a rush. "I'm very tired of watching Dazai pine. It's not annoying so much as it is pitiful and if you show that guy pity, he considers killing you, so that's not very fun for me. Also since he's going to kill me after what I did today anyways, I just want to say: Dazai has a huge crush on you. He's in love with you. Has been, probably since forever. Please deal with him. When I die, buy me a grave somewhere I can overlook the sea okay, and on the headstone, it should say: Man Who Put Up With Too Much Shit. If I'm still alive after 48-hours, we'll go to the bar and I'll buy you all the scotch you can drink. Do not call me before then because you should be dealing with Dazai and I will be trying to avoid the inevitable hitmen. Goodbye, Odasaku-san."
Odasaku only catches the first half of his call. Dazai's...Dazai's what?
Ango's wrong. Dazai wouldn't...not with him. He's pretty sure. Pretty sure...
He thinks about every elapsed second when they were in the same room together, the warmth in Dazai's eyes when they'd parted a little past nine, the way he walked in and looked at Odasaku like-
Oh. Odasaku's stomach drops out of his body. The more time he spends reviewing, the more things starts to make sense. He starts turning the tape of his memory even further- last month, Tuesday, the Thursday before that-
Oh.
And then. He comes back to today. Thinks about orange caramel, pink lips, a smile of starlight-
Oh.
---------------------------------------------------------
Dazai's tired. Really tired okay. It's late and he's been working on a report that he actually planned to finish earlier. And it's been a long day. And last night, he stayed up kind of late to make sweets for people, including a friend (who no longer deserves to be named Such) and a silly guy who's as incredible as he is ridiculous and-
Bleh. This is getting gross. Frankly, he does not vibe with this.
So he pours himself a glass of milk and watches it go round and round in the microwave- radiation, what? -when his phone rings in the next room. The ringtone means it's Odasaku, he knows already, and thinks about pretending to be asleep. Doesn't really want to though, and so he takes the call, says, "Hi, it's Dazai."
"Are you busy?"
"Not really." Dazai drawls as best as he can. "Checking up on little lonely me, Odasaku?"
"Just wanted to make sure you were home."
A knock. At the door. Dazai turns and goes for it, working the latch lock at the same time he builds himself up for this. He pulls the door handle back. Odasaku stands there, filling the door frame.
"Hey," Dazai greets, smiling despite himself. "What can I do for Odasaku at this fine hour?"
"First of all, I've had to process a lot." Odasaku pauses. "And I'm as unused to expressing my shit out loud as you are, so fair warning but here it goes. I was going to try my hand at the making chocolates thing. I figured it'd show reciprocation? But it's even harder than I thought it was, and I didn't want to look like I don't care as much as you do." He puts his hand on the back of his neck, which Dazai has learned to mean equal parts sheepish and nervous- which in itself, rarely shows, but when it does, is Odasaku running a hand through his hair.
Of course, Dazai's not registering this at all. He's too busy trying to understand what Odasaku is saying, if Odasaku means...
"And I could learn and practice." Odasaku blinks at him. "But I didn't want to wait for White Day. I figured I've made you wait long enough."
Dazai laughs a little. Laughs a little more, and when he reaches for Odasaku's hand, Odasaku lets him take it, takes the encouraging pull for what it is and steps a little closer, still looking at Dazai like...Dazai is something he needs.
"Ango hasn't fully been pardoned yet," he tells Odasaku, after closing the door and leading them into the kitchen. The microwave shows the time. Dazai has a report to do that he minds a little less. "But I've decided I'll let Ango live a little longer. He's okay sometimes."
"Just okay?"
Dazai grins.
