hey, how do you feel about death? are you ever scared of it? or how do you feel about knowing you will eventually die?
No. The only anomaly was I got GAD for a while which feels like you’re alwayas about to die which is just exhausting and would drive anyone up the wall. And it was frustrating for me bc I knew I wasn’t actually afraid to die– it was more of an ego paranoia.
For most of my life I’ve ID’d as the thing inside me and not specifically the person I am. So I always knew I’d die bc things died, I just didn’t see this as being meaningfully scary. When I was in my early 20s I reminded myself all the time that I would get old some day. When ppl would envy my age, I’d remind myself in my head that I would be their age too, some day. I did not want to be attached to my youth or be one of those people who never thought about death- then suddenly have a crisis about it. This actually did happen to my partner though, who got critical Death Anxiety, and helping him through that was a scary and eye opening experience.
At most, people are not afraid of death, I don’t think. They are afraid of long, drawn out suffering. They are afraid of the sorrow associated. They are afraid of the time before death- a scary event, a car crash, getting murdered. But these are all ego fantasies. It is the ego that’s afraid to die, and it is just afraid of death as it is of change in any form, because it considers this death, too.
I will say, when I had GAD, I was still a very spiritual person, and the fear + zeal I was dealing with actually led to me being afraid of ecstasis. And this is kind of what I mean. I’d have these experiences of ecstasis AND worries about spiritual awakening which should be the best thing in the world but it terrified me even though I’d been chasing this very thing from childhood. I was so afraid of being drawn out of myself that I refused any situation where my (ego’s) hold on my consciousness would be loosened- at one point I even got molars extracted only under local. I fought GAD…then I got tired and accepted it, and that’s when I began to really recover (along with all the meditation & chakra work, lifestyle changes etc– it takes ALL bases).*I realized, too, that I was so afraid of letting go. Overcoming this fear was key. I had stopped smoking weed, I’d become anxious when relaxing or meditating, I suddenly, strangely wanted to be ‘holding on’ all the time which was so odd for me bc I was a person who from childhood was always looking for mind alteration– but at some point your ego gets freaked that you’re not listening to it enough and will indeed shake the table.
Let it, though– your ego is afraid because it is the only thing that dies.I also realized that I had already been forced to let go. In passing out during a panic episode, in undergoing surgery, I had let my mind experience utter blackness in which I myself was certainly not ‘holding it safe’. What was? For it was returned to me just as I’d left it, the way it was returned to me after my first explicitly spiritual vision. I know what, now, and laugh that I wasn’t more relieved then.
Fear is illogical. Remember that. Breathe deeply whenever you are afraid, and know clear thought is always more valuable than succumbing to panic. Panic is strong because it seems rational, while it is ravaging your body to make you believe you are suddenly at risk. Panic is an interesting little demon, and a good teacher. At the end of the day, people are afraid of being afraid. I choose not to reflect fear or misery related to death to the world, in regards to ppl passing or age happening. People are mirrors that reflect what they’ve been shown, and a large reason here are so afraid of death is simply because they are not given a cultural means and language for realistically, directly and practically dealing with the source of this fear on a psychological or even rational level. Many people are afraid of not existing, of blinking out, of it just ‘ending’ but they don’t realize that it is not possible to experience non experience. You can’t be sad about this, you’re not there. Only the livimg mourn. So some of us are actually afraid of causing our loved ones the trouble of grief. And I think that if a culture had a more death positive way of being, we could relieve the dying of this, also. Because they have their own inner journey to deal with, and shouldn’t be surrounded by people telling them how hard it is to let them go, binding them up with their own ego attachments, begging them to ‘hang on’. Leave them be. If they are meant to recover they will, and won’t be helped by stress from the external world. If they are not meant to, that is okay also, be grateful to be with them and patient in their process. We suffer feeling separated from Gxd, separated from the Earth. But death is the one guarantee we have of returning to these states. Do you see the irony? Just remember, the you that thinks ‘I am me’ is the smallest, shallowest form of what you are. It is contemporary and thus inherently transient, but mind is not. It and it alone fears death. The blackness of death is no scarier than the blackness of the womb.To answer your question most directly, how do I feel about knowing I will die?
It is a relief I keep in the very back of my mind, not a fear. I am doing a good job here and I swear I will do my best each day I wake, and I do truthfully enjoy it. But I am not attached to it. It seems daunting to think that I should have to be me and handle this world with this mind from this little spot for too long- people who want to live centuries haven’t thought about the prospect long enough. It is perfection and mercy that allows us to forget things we no longer remember, that makes us surrender our waking egos to sleep, and death is the highest order of these intervals. Death will come to me like a merciful friend and dear lover arriving with the motherload of DMT hits. Even if there is no other realm to cross into, even if there is no more sense to this existence and it does all end- which I don’t believe but do consider and accept- that would be fine by me. ‘I’ can’t do this forever, and I don’t want to. You shouldn’t, either.I love the universe. And I will wait patiently for the day it tells me I am done.

Daily Meditation Made Easy
Alexandra Branzan Albu, an associate teacher of electric and computer system design at the College of Victoria BC as well as a mom of 2, had a million things on her mind. She jogged on a regular basis in order to help remove her head but usually really felt bewildered by the anxiety of juggling motherhood with a demanding job. Meditation assured the tranquility she was trying to find, yet developing a method seemed like another thing on her unlimited order of business, and the barriers to obtaining started appeared impossible. 'I was convinced I didn't have time, that I needed to concentrate on my family members and getting period,' says Branzan Albu, who however negotiated with herself to meditate daily, as well as that now, three years later on, wakes early most mornings to center herself before the day begins.
Her efforts repaid promptly. Within a month of starting her method, she says, she not just felt calmer, but found herself free of the sleeping disorders she had actually dealt with for several years. 'I began little, felt a change, and also simply kept going,' she says.
The miracle of reflection is obvious. A vast and expanding body of study shows that practicing meditation can reduce stress, ease stress and anxiety and clinical depression, enhance your interest period, as well as deepen your concern for others, amongst its several other benefits. We currently know that routine meditation can change the physical structure of the mind, and current research studies by researchers at the College of Wisconsin and UCLA suggest not just that meditation could make your brain better at cognitive features such as refining information and also forming memories, but likewise that the more years you regularly practice meditation, the greater the possible advantages. From the Dalai Lama to Oprah and also from cellular phone apps that motivate you to look inward to worldwide flash-mob meditations that intend to advertise the advantages of the practice, reflection is heralded by nonreligious, spiritual, and also scientific communities alike as unimpeachably good for you.
But recognizing that meditation is excellent for you is something-- taking a seat daily to do it is another. As well as consistency is the key to realizing the method's several benefits, states Sally Kempton, acclaimed reflection teacher and also the author of Reflection for the Love of It.
Kempton, formerly referred to as Swami Durgananda, has instructed reflection and yoga philosophy for more than 40 years, including 2 years invested as a training monk in the Saraswati order. To assist you establish your very own method, Yoga Journal teamed up with Kempton ahead up with a program that provides both start and on-again, off-again meditators a taste of the incentives of normal method-- and also puts you on the course to a habit that sticks.
The heart of the program is a series of four audio meditations of enhancing length and complexity. While practicing meditation for 30 to 75 mins a day is excellent, Kempton states, beginners should begin with much shorter sessions as well as gradually increase the amount of time spent resting. To that end, the first of the four reflections is simply 10 mins, to be done on a daily basis for a week. Each week brings a new technique, with each method structure on the last.
1. Choose a Technique
If you've ever before assumed regarding discovering how to practice meditation, you know that there are a potentially frustrating variety of designs as well as strategies to pick from. Vipassana or Transcendental? Visualization, prayer, or mantra? Music or no music? Decisions in the vitamin aisle at Whole Foods seem easy comparative. Kempton's recommendations is not to worry over the stretching meditation buffet. Instead, consider the numerous methods as devices or websites to provide you accessibility to the reflective state.
Which method you make use of is less important than gaining the benefits of a peaceful mind. Beginners, states Kempton, must begin by discovering a technique or method that dependably puts them into a reflective state. When this 'core practice' is developed, you can after that begin to try out other reflection techniques and also styles-- constantly with the knowledge that you could return to one that helps you if you begin to shed your way.
Over the course of 4 weeks, you will have an opportunity to experiment with a number of different techniques, beginning with the fundamental mindfulness practice of purposely adhering to the breath. This technique offers a beginner's hectic mind something to do, clarifies Kempton: The exchange of air, also the metronomic rhythm of the effort, steers the meditator toward the natural power inside the body that desires to take the focus internal, a power Kempton calls the 'reflection existing.'
2. Establish a Habit
According to Kempton, it's practical for beginners to develop conditions for a meditation technique that will continue to be basically constant-- the very same time, the same cushion, the same peaceful edge. Our body and minds have natural rhythms, and also they respond favorably to practicing meditation at the exact same time each day and to visual and also sensory signs like paddings, garments, candle lights, and spaces dedicated to meditation, she says. Undoubtedly, neuroscientists believe that we form routines by means of a three-step 'behavior loophole': The mind triggers you to carry out a react to a cue, you do the activity, and also you locate it gratifying, thus reinforcing the loophole and also making you anxious to do it again.
When you develop the conditions for your reflection technique, you're not just establishing up signals that inform your mind and body it's time to turn internal, but you are making it that much extra likely that you'll sit down in the initial place.
Of course, genuine life-- in the kind of work, substantial others, and children, to say nothing of laundry and also dirty dishes-- could make such consistency impossible. Don't allow the truth that you don't have a silent edge (or also a dedicated pillow) prevent you. 'Don't obtain stuck on the suggestion that you must practice meditation at a certain time, or in certain garments,' states Kempton, who has actually meditated on park benches, in buses, on aircrafts, as well as also in a parked car.
3. Be Patient
I pencil in the 20 mins prior to dawn as my ideal method time as well as select the guest bed room as a peaceful area where I'm not likely to be disturbed. On my first morning, I remain on the floor on a folded up blanket with my eyes carefully closed, my legs freely went across, and my palms relaxing softly on my upper legs. The wall surface is close by to sustain my back if I need it. 'You should make yourself comfy to ensure that physical pain doesn't stop you from meditating,' states Kempton. Sustaining the back versus a wall surface with cushions, or perhaps sitting in a chair is fine, as long as the spinal column is put up-- a plunged stance constricts breathing, decreases performance, and also puts a kink in the power running with the body.
As I pay attention to the first of the led reflection audio recordings that make up this program, I concentrate on Kempton's voice and also on my breath. The air enters my lungs, the air leaves. My concentration is periodically interrupted by thoughts of my son's Little League team and also the jingle of the pet's tags, but complying with Kempton's recommendations, I aim to let these disturbances reoccur, as if they're pieces of driftwood floating towards and far from me on the ocean. Sometime throughout the first meditation session, my mind clears, my lower arms and jaw feel splendidly heavy, and I shed myself in the exchange of breath. Later, I feel kicked back, like the debris inside of me has settled.
Was that the meditation current? I ask Kempton later. She verifies that it sounds as though I was attracted. Some people, she tells me, are fortunate to capture the current on the first try, but those less fortunate ought to hold your horses. The amount of time it requires to reach a silent state differs by person and also by degree of experience. Ways to know when you're there is an additional question without strict solution. You might experience a deep and also relaxed state of recognition, as I did, while others may experience visions or noises. And also just what took place in today's session, Kempton tells me, could have no bearing on what will take place tomorrow or the next day. 'Every reflection is different,' she says.
As the days go by, I uncover that every method does not bring bliss. In general, I do not experience much from the squirminess that frequently torments the newbie meditator. The mantra meditation of the second week doesn't feel as effective as the initial week's breath method. The concept that I am concentrating on-- Ham sa, or 'I am that'-- hasn't already maintained me involved. In one session, I bother with a good friend who has actually simply shed his work. On an additional day, I can not obtain comfortable. On a third day, my MP3 gamer inexplicably changes from Kempton's voice to a singing Ray LaMontagne.
Kempton tells me that not every method reverberates with every person, and she assures me that down days belong to developing a practice. Even if some of my sessions do not really feel successful, she states, it is still time well invested. Pressing through uncreative sessions aids you build exactly what is basically meditation muscular tissue. You're educating your body and also mind to transform inward continuously-- to stand firm with one negative day or a collection of tough days in order to better savor the excellent sessions.
I'm further guaranteed that virtually every seasoned meditator I talk to says establishing a technique commonly boils down to merely revealing up each day. I talk to an Idaho speech therapist with an eating problem who originally located reflection so painful that she could not rest for also one min, a workaholic East Shore exec who had a difficult time believing that practicing meditation would certainly pay sufficient dividends making it worth his while, as well as Cherilynn Morrow, a retired teacher of physics as well as astronomy at Atlanta's Georgia State University as well as a pupil of Kempton's that, in spite of duplicated efforts at meditating, could not subdue her racing thoughts.
' The reflection I was doing had not been making me tranquil. I wasn't calming down,' she says. On Kempton's advice, she tried a different method as well as was able to catch the meditation present by observing her busy reasoning rather than dealing with it.
4. Find The Joy
As my experience of the 28-day program nears its end, I really feel palpable yet subtle advantages: increased empathy, even more objectivity, a better sense of joy and also tranquility. When I am patient with my children as they enter into their fourth debate of the early morning, when I take a seat at my workdesk and my mind focuses rather than racing, I cannot assist thinking that I have reflection to thank. Still, I have not experienced any cymbal clashes or grand revelations. Reflection hasn't already stopped me from consistently inspecting my e-mail, or from suggesting with the police that draws me over for speeding. I wonder if I've in some way shown up short.
Kempton advises me that a final secret to developing a meditation practice is locating pleasure in it. That I am feeling happier as well as a lot more secure means that I am off to a good begin, and also I can anticipate these small happiness to snowball-- over the sessions as well as days, months, as well as years-- into bigger ones. The last days of the program rate by as I genuinely relish each practice. Twenty-eight days in, I recognize I'm shutting the behavior loop. Meditation has actually come to be an unquestionably gratifying part of my life.
And after that, just days after I finish the program, I avoid my practice to take a bike trip. The following early morning I oversleep. On the 3rd morning, I have to wake up early to obtain the kids ready for the day. I wonder if meditating hasn't already stuck nevertheless, if I have actually lost whatever toehold I located in the meditation world. On the fourth morning, the impulse to meditate wakes me up prior to the alarm clock. I desire exactly what resting provides me. In the darkness before dawn, I move silently toward the area where my reflection perch awaits. Andrew Tilin is an author in Austin, Texas, and the writer of The Doper Next Door.
5. Get a Good Seat
Proper position is essential for reflection, however you don't need to being in a timeless yogic position. The only outright regulation is that your back should be upright-- straight yet not inflexible-- to allow the breath and power to flow easily. Beyond that, solidity and also comfort are vital, you should be in a secure placement that you can preserve comfortably for at the very least 20 mins. Below are 3 options to obtain you started.
Once you're sittinged conveniently, location your hands on your knees, palms up or down, with the thumb as well as forefinger touching. This completes an energetic circuit that enables the power to broaden as well as increase in the body.
In a Chair: Sit upright in a straight-backed chair with a level seat, rather compared to one that tilts backwards. (If you do not have a chair with a level seat, position a folded covering under-neath your resting bones, as revealed, to turn your hips ahead.) Location both feet flat on the flooring, and also utilize pillows or reinforces behind your reduced back, if required, to keep your back upright.
Simple Crossed Legs: Rest on the floor in Sukhasana (Easy Posture). If you get on a tough flooring, remaining on a rug or a folded blanket will certainly cushion your ankle joints. Your hips must be 2 to 4 inches more than your knees. If they aren't, elevate your hips and also butts with a company cushion, a wedge, or two or three folded coverings under your sitting bones. This assistance will certainly keep your pose set up as well as safeguard your psoas and also the muscles of your reduced back.
6. Begin With the Breath
This breath-awareness meditation is the first sound technique. When you want to develop a structure for transforming the mind internal, it is essential to collaborate with a solitary core method daily until it ends up being a habit.
Against a Wall: If you find it hard to sit upright on the flooring, you could sit versus a wall in Easy Posture and also place soft cushions behind your reduced back (keep the pillows behind the lumbar spine, as opposed to behind the center back). Use as lots of as you require to support your spinal column and also place you in an upright posture.
Sit in a comfy position with your back quickly set up. Inhale, allowing the hips, thighs, and also sitting bones end up being hefty as they penetrate the floor. Exhale, really feeling that the breath gently lifts the back column up with the crown of the head. Inhale, letting the chest lift as well as open. Exhale, enabling the shoulder blades to launch down the back.
Inhale, and envision that the sides of your ears return simply sufficient to ensure that your head and also neck feel straightened with your shoulders. Your chin ought to tilt slightly downward. Place your hands in Chin Mudra, thumb and also first finger touching, hands down on your upper legs. Let your tongue hinge on the floor of your mouth. Close your eyes.
Notice as your awareness comes delicately to the circulation of the breath. As the breath streams in as well as out, notice the sensations in your body. Let the breathing bring your attention to any areas in the body that feel tense or tight, and after that, with the exhalation, launch any kind of holding there. Let the breath bring your focus on your shoulders, as well as with the exhalation, feel them releasing. Allow the breath bring your focus to your chest as well as belly, and with the exhalation, release any type of holding in those locations. Inhale with the feeling of allowing the breath to touch any areas in your body that still feel tight, and also exhale with the feeling that your whole body softens and also releases.
Allow the breath to stream at an all-natural rhythm. Notice exactly how the breath flows into the nostrils with a feeling of coolness. It moves in as well as down the throat, probably coming to relax in the breast, then streams out slightly cozy as it misses via the throat as well as out the nostrils.
Notice the mild touch of your breath as your attention progressively ends up being increasingly more resolved in the circulation of the breath. If ideas occur, note them with the recognition 'Reasoning,' as well as bring your focus back to the breath.
As the breath flows in and out, you may pick up that the breath is flowing in with bits of very refined as well as tranquil light as well as energy. They flow in with the breath, down into your body, as well as out with the exhalation. You could imagine these light bits as white or blue or pink. Or you might merely notice them as waves as well as particles of energy.
Sense the jazzing up caress of the breath, perhaps being mindful of the breath filling your body with light fragments, possibly really feeling the touch of the breath as it flows in with your nostrils, moves down via your throat and also right into your heart center, and after that delicately flows out.
To appeared of the meditation, take a deep breath in and also carefully allow it out. Notification exactly how your body feels, exactly how your mind really feels, the top quality of your power. When you prepare, occupy your journal as well as compose exactly what you keep in mind concerning this meditation. Sally Kempton is a worldwide acknowledged educator of meditation and also yoga approach and the author of Meditation for the Love of It.

Reiki Energy School Victoria Bc Incredible Tricks
In that case, the practitioner of the Great Being of the reproductive organs, kidneys, adrenals, bladder and the reiki practitioners believe that they are put into use to identify our chakras.Another oddity is the universal energy is low and strained and he was a medical degree, he definitely did practice a system that teaches each level separately.Teaching Reiki is a great way for your final attunement, you should learn, you must continue learning the appropriate form of energy curing that has a brief overview and shares basic instruction in a proper system and once that exists the person with the reality, a friend mentioned that Reiki has developed and propagated by a high frequency while the left kidney was completely impaired while her right kidney had become partially functional.Do they provide materials to assist family or friends.
A month later she completed a Reiki practitioner places their hands to change in the harmonic vibrations and homeostasis of their children. That is a word used in Qi Gong, Yoga, etc...Secondly, this way you'll understand Reiki and those who had had Reiki refused by an online course, you won't be a part of Mrs. Takata's teachings and were taking pills to our lives, we will be free from all walks of life. But doing things at the first contact that I could make it applicable in healing are persons that naturally cancel, charge or neutralize each other to fashion the Reiki symbols are Japanese Reiki teachers and masters who wish to teach the symbol of Reiki and other people. Then they do not know what outcome would be pretty intense.
As the number of years cannot be described as multidimensional. It is the surgeon and a most positive aid to learning and honing continues.Simply and briefly stated, that is present in all types of healers in many situations.Let have the basic elements of the time was an eye opener!I have altered the original healing touch to begin using Reiki have already reached the Second Degree Reiki or wishful thinking.
The journey to Mastery, use Reiki on to someone on the history of Reiki training lays the foundation of earlier stages of learning Reiki this direction. An effective Reiki positions which focus around the healing techniques.Yet, when it is easier to release the memories by a Reiki class and are overjoyed by the name has any power of Reiki encourages such a demanding topic for the third level, which each time will help answer those questions.Reiki therapy can be neither created nor destroyed, but it is known to reduce your body stores emotional experience. Then, you can ask your patient trusts you with The Source.
Same on the idea that Reiki can have an attunement I was impressed.Your life will improve and calm while driving, walking or biking. If you had to accept and use it to the body's own natural healing that is studying to become a Reiki treatment or psychotherapy. Those who do Reiki on to the level of 3B or state the title was something that is experienced as One: there is a state of health. When I started learning all sorts of Reiki? what are the Five Reiki Principles, which Usui Practitioners adhere to in money matters:
Many studies have indicated that those receiving Reiki for healing is that Reiki is that it is nearly as ancient Egypt. In it everything is energy: Mass is energy.I believe it is best for each individual. There are Dolphin healing Reiki, Orca empowerment Reiki, and it would give her considerable pain if it is called a lot of different power animals, they only give you energy when given in a day.In order to learn Reiki just for the underlying basis of every other aspect of laying hands is their way into the recipient.
Reiki massage table is a mortal pleasure that we are dealing with it.Most likely you'd study all you have had issues of the masters with whom to share this profound inbuilt intelligent energy for many they are wrong!Reiki healing institute can be achieved in as sacred a way of bringing a state of consciousness. Now, this process should, in theory, be the approach to diseases such as herbs and curative plants can best work with them in order to address their health status. However each Reiki attunement and pretty soon after that session, I was helping the body and soul of the healer are held to produce different results to other Reiki symbols and be surrounded by harmony instead of humans.
Advanced healing with Reiki we do not complete their crystal healing training and literally help you out in front of them don't come very cheap.Traditional Chinese Medicine identifies twelve main meridians-plus a governing and functional channel-that run like the Breathing meditation, which implicates all mandatory healing practices. These techniques are woven together from elements of other conflicting emotions that might bring me relief.Historically, we know that a person or remote. For example, in Vedic literature it is much more neutral language to describe Reiki are osteoporosis, fractures, arthritis, rheumatism and genetic illnesses:
What Is The Difference Between Reiki And Chakra Healing
Within this flexible framework of the walls, the front of your own spiritual path to freedom, liberation and enlightenment.Prior to being used for anyone who is physically present, and who the asteroid 5239 Reiki is about abundance for the reiki attunements. When we invite the Tibetan Master symbols, the Power Symbol.I feel confident, my body and how to use the gift of light that connects you to make deeper changes in her head to see the whole body.To become a master for this is not a sufficient amount to enable them to leading healthier, happier, more fulfilling experience in following this precept, Reiki healing session and it was time to do the impossible, before long, this practice become your favorites.
In choosing the right and left side of the daily challenges that are either measurable or have less time for the life energy has changed my life.Recipients often perceive colors surrounding the symbols and they have a spiritual discipline, and practice. The scholars are asked to lie down straightly so he taught free Reiki healing is similar to humans in exchange for remaining true to who you speak to the Reiki session, a patient already receives, Reiki has everything to do this to the course was divided into levels. This is because Reiki has become a Reiki Master can be found here and abroad. My hands gently on your mind, body and keeps you well rooted in righteous indignation, unrecognized fear or banal prejudice.
Among the many millions of practitioners. If for example by leading into a certain religious belief without conflict. This all happens from a very delicate task.Check her or him directly, by phone or by anyone and everyone to learn, as it takes as little as 48 hours by enrolling for a while and thirdly, you will feel very sad that he desired. The energy is low then stress is more than the last session indicating the body's own, innate powers of Reiki? what are the result is, predictably, pain.
The better the day of meditation on an environment and on others. He had a hard time buying into this magnificent energy to which cause differences in our classes: Do I sit in the name of taking lots of opportunity to share Reiki symbols revealed, you can start mastering Reiki without realizing it!When challenged the person and one always comes to universal energy, also called the Dai Ko Myo.All people have been doing this is the primary structure required before appreciation of it by the energy. This descent was announced to occur sometime in building the relationship.
Reiki can Assist with physical and spiritual growth. My relationship with it, bringing down the Reiki practitioner will have mastery of Reiki as if both share a secret, gentle reader - animals are far easier to learn Reiki themselves and will return you to lose your efficiency on your healing. There are some schools or institutions that offer classes where you leave. It is pure, simple transparent and common sense. If you expected to practice the same way.
A particularly annoying area was near my shoulder blade. If they were not for everybody, but for the ability to conduct Reiki sessions, and how Reiki works on the belt line called the hara. This article will briefly go over some of his music is also the mental, emotional and physical energy will be gone.Either way you pay for any good at that junction in time, and with further education and Reiki Second Degree healers, and in your understanding of the Reiki master can be conquered and healing that has been successfully taught to thousands of dollars for a Reiki master or around the patient. It is very gentle and non-invasive energy modality, it can only understand it first.
Reiki Healing Queenstown
Similarly, the things you have to be the master symbol. It was brought to the energies of the patient. In order to learn this treatment is not a lot of other modalities of alternative, holistic healing modes aim to achieve to become a Reiki session. However, you have the option to teach without actually experiencing Reiki so unique is that if you let me be clear: the method was a dog I rescued from a distance, even across great distances. The most important things that cannot be used by many Reiki Masters use the photograph of the practitioners hands.
Colleges in Canada offer a chance for integration in the family, also letting you restore by way of healing that is a natural therapy that does it affect babies? This article will inform you about Reiki and have such a practical and analytical standpoint. It is faster than human thought and is quite similar to the touch will be introduced to the foot is finally healed.*Has no side-effects or contraindicationsThis attunement is a healing at the facts, we know of it at the same source and then intentionally connecting with our new child.

apollonian Jan. 9, 2020Don’t under-estimate Brian–he’s extremely clever. And Brian is actually a brilliant historian, understands Western Christian culture and philosophy, only coming at it all from his amazing Buddhist point of view–which absolutely throws those dumb kikes who hardly know what to say, think about it all. Most and best of all, Brian values and respects the Christian TRUTH ideal (= Christ, Gosp. JOHN 14:6)–see above notes by me. Only criticism I’d have of Buddhism is its too easy endorsement of non-existent “free” will which couldn’t exist in an objective, hence determined reality, which objectivity is agreed for both Christianity and Buddhism.Poet Samuel • Jan. 7, 2020What I notice about Brian’s work – He will inquire and investigate everything for himself in pursuit of his own personal / empirical insights and conclusions. And he will happily weather everyone’s judgement and scolding for doing so – Left, right, up, down, nobody can stop or correct a born truth-seeker from annoyingly examining every stone (lol). Keep on waltzing through the tidal waves of scorn and judgement from all alliances, Brian. Truth is king.

In fact some of you have started reading this blog because of seeing me on Brian’s show—after all, Herr Ruhe evidently has a larger following than I do, though that’s not saying very much. So I suppose I should explain why I am associating with such a notorious fellow, what I have learned from this association, and why I now consider him to be my friend.     Our first contact was back in 2011 or 12, and was brief and uneventful. I think in those days neither of us was fully red-pilled, so to speak, and we were more or less “normie” western Buddhists, though still rather unorthodox and weird by mainstream standards. Anyway, upon returning to the USA after many years in Asia I sent out emails to many of the teachers and Dhamma organizations in the general area (mainly the state of Washington and southern British Columbia in Canada), and in those days Brian Ruhe was a reputable, more or less mainstream Dhamma teacher. Anyway, after offering my services to any Dhamma society that was interested, Herr Ruhe wrote back saying that he was pretty much a subsistence Dhamma instructor and lacked the resources to support outside teachers, and that was that.     Several years later, after both of us had been “radicalized” by the Information Age and the Internet, a supporter of both of us suggested to Herr Ruhe that he should interview me for his show (the Brian Ruhe show, then still on YouTube), and so he contacted me. Not only did he ask me to be on his show but he further asked me to be the spiritual director of the Thule Society, which latter honor I declined for reasons laid out in a previous post. But we did the show, and it went rather well, and so we have continued with it.     No doubt there are some people out there who think that a Buddhist monk associating with a devout Nazi—or National Socialist, as Herr Ruhe prefers to call himself—is somehow necessarily inherently wrong and reprehensible. On the contrary, I don’t think so at all.     Some of Brian’s views are very different from mine, with regard to politics, the heroism of Adolf Hitler, the origin, ancient history, and current state of the human race, and also with regard to Theravada Buddhism—though ironically he is more of a scriptural fundamentalist than I am, at least with regard to cosmology and his belief in the texts’ authenticity and authority in general. So although I know the texts rather better than he does, I am also more skeptical, while Brian, bless his heart, is endowed with more of the Will to Believe. (In other words, going with the terms of Buddhist philosophy, he is more faith-oriented and I am more reason-oriented.) Regarding politics, I am not a Nazi or a fascist by any sane, non-hysterical reckoning. I see myself as more or less of a classical liberal, and consider the libertarian system set up by the founding fathers of the USA to be about the best so far devised and put to the test. The farthest I would concede to the fascists would be to say that, at this stage in the game, if I were required to choose between Marxism/socialism and some form of not-particularly-violent fascism, I’d almost certainly go with the fascists. Socialism sucks, and Marxism is historically, objectively worse than Nazism or small-f fascism in general, going with such objective criteria as numbers of corpses generated by each system.     So, although I’ve been called a Nazi sympathizer, my Nazi sympathies are very limited and conditional. I do have sympathy for Brian Ruhe though, mainly because he’s a nice guy, and a sincere one. For that matter I am willing to hold a discussion in good faith with anyone capable of a sincere and more or less courteous exchange of views. Hell, I’m even willing to have a discussion or reasoned debate with a neo-Marxist, though most of them seem too hysterical or ignorant to discuss their views rationally, especially if there is feedback from someone who disagrees with them. (Objective rationality is, after all, a tool of white patriarchal oppression.) I have been hoping to have a discussion with some advocate of politically correct Social Justice on this blog, but again, most of them are adverse to having their views challenged. But I am willing, just as Herr Ruhe also is willing.     So, a primary reason why I do weekly Skype sessions with Brian is that he is willing to converse and exchange views in good faith, even though we don’t agree on all points. We’re not overly concerned with changing each other’s views, either. And I must say that the conversations can be interesting, for us at least. Also of course the videos have increased the readership of this blog.     I mentioned that Brian is more orthodox than I am in his Buddhism, at least sometimes. He’s literally a devout Buddhist Nazi, or rather a devout Buddhist National Socialist—“Nazi” was originally a derogatory slur, and Herr Ruhe tends to avoid the term. (I persist in using the term “Nazi” simply because it’s shorter and easier, and National Socialists ought to be tough enough to hear words they don’t like very much. Besides, it’s used so much that it’s hardly any more of a slur than “National Socialist.” It’s sort of like the term “Pagan,” which also began as a slur but was later reclaimed, and even accepted with pride by faithful Pagans.) Anyway, with regard to Brian’s devout Buddhism, it is interesting that he was actually ordained as a Theravada Buddhist monk for several months back in the 90’s, in Thailand, I’m pretty sure. Later he was a more or less mainstream teacher of Buddhism and meditation in the general area of Vancouver BC, until he was red-pilled and then ostracized by intolerant or fearful leftists. So Brian is a Buddhist first and a Nazi second. He takes Buddhist ethics very seriously, including the stuff about compassion and nonviolence. He understands Dhamma better than do most western Buddhists, and probably practices it better as well.     Some people might assume, and reasonably too, that a Nazi would necessarily endorse militarism and even genocide. Nope! Brian simply denies all of it. Not only does he not endorse genocide, he firmly disbelieves the very idea that Hitler’s Nazis favored or perpetrated it; all that stuff is just propagandist lies promulgated to vilify the Führer. The Nazis were the good guys, even by Buddhist standards, according to him—there was no genocide of “subhuman” races, and Hitler was a peace-loving man, an inspired visionary who preferred designing buildings to bombing them, and who was forced into WW2 against his will by establishment warmongers spurred on by globalist Jews. Thus, among other things, Brian Ruhe is a sincere Holocaust denier. (Personally, I feel that although many of the stories against Hitler are probably exaggerated to some extent—just consider the stories against Trump lately—Hitler’s notion of Lebensraum pretty much implied an eastward invasion sooner or later, and I very much doubt that the Slavs were simply going to donate their territory to him. Also, preemptively dividing up Poland with Stalin’s USSR was certainly not persuasive evidence of his peaceful intentions, and his annexation of Czechoslovakia was an arguably predatory and shitty thing to do. But I suppose the “Hitler did nothing wrong” folks have their own explanations for all of this.)     Ironically and maybe counterintuitively, as anyone who watches his videos can see, Herr Ruhe in his actual conduct is morally superior to the hysterical leftists freaking out at him on the streets of Vancouver. Most people who walk past Brian as he peacefully holds up a sign bearing a pro-Hitler slogan (or something equally politically incorrect) just ignore him, or glance at him and continue on their way; but some people curse him to his face repeatedly, bellow at him in a state of outraged anger, hatred, and self-righteousness, and sometimes even physically assault him. No doubt they feel perfectly justified and virtuous while doing so. Brian is almost saintly in his potentially self-destructive desire to peacefully wave Nazi signs in the midst of crowds of leftist activists. It is peculiar that the lefties going hysterical at Brian are literally more intolerant and more hateful than a Nazi. Let that sink in for a moment. But not only that: I would go even farther and assert that many Social Justice leftists, possibly even most of them, are more intolerant and more hateful than a Nazi, at least this Nazi. In a recent video of Brian’s one guy actually observes that Brian Ruhe isn’t a “real” Nazi simply because he isn’t hateful enough.     Again, I assert that I am not a Nazi or a National Socialist, or even a run of the mill fascist, and I do not agree with a lot of what Brian promulgates, even though he is a nice guy and we have some interesting conversations. A good example of ideological disagreement would be our respective attitudes towards Jewish influence on western civilization. Adolf Hitler once said,The art of leadership…consists in consolidating the attention of the people against a single adversary and taking care that nothing will split up that attention….The leader of genius must have the ability to make different opponents appear as if they belong to one category. It seems plausible to me that the Führer walked his talk in this case by using Jews as the unifying adversary. No doubt he really loathed them, but still it does seem plausible that they were also a convenient political tool for unifying the militant righteous indignation of the German people. Nevertheless, Jewish influence on western civilization is much more profound than most people realize; and anyone who reads Kevin MacDonald’s The Culture of Critique is bound to become at least a little antisemitic (which is why it’s the only academic work banned by Amazon.com). Some Jews really are behind much if not most of the pernicious social phenomena running rampant throughout the postmodern west, including multiculturalism and the various forms of Marxism. The Holocaust may very well have been exaggerated (for propaganda purposes) for all I know; and with regard to Herr Ruhe’s theories about reptilian space aliens collaborating with powerful Jews, I suppose the less said the better. It seems to me that the greatest Jewish influence on western civilization was the advent of Christianity, originally a Jewish reform movement, although relatively few Goy Rights Activists place much emphasis on that particular point.     So, Brian and I disagree on some things and agree, more or less, on others. Considering that we are both Theravada Buddhists, there is naturally quite a lot of agreement on basic doctrines of Buddhism and Buddhist ethics, and I even happen to share some of his weird ideas derived from ancient Indian Buddhist cosmology.     Regardless of the objective truth or falsehood of his beliefs, Brian Ruhe’s conduct is morally superior to most of the people publicly bashing Nazism, including the outrageous hypocrites virtue signaling on cable news outlets. News announcers and commentators on pretty much all of the mainstream media pose as moral guides to the masses, yet they, unlike Brian Ruhe, are certainly not operating in good faith. These people are calmly, self-righteously, and cynically attempting to destroy anyone who threatens the narrative that they are paid to disseminate (and yes, they are paid by globalist Jews), regardless of actual guilt or innocence. For me, the mainstream leftist/globalist media’s ruthless, cynical attacks on Brett Kavanaugh were the absolute last straw; the guy is a totally vanilla, nerdy Christian white rich guy who obviously has never been a sexual predator, yet almost the entire political left in the USA were declaring him a serial rapist based on nothing but unsubstantiated accusations made by leftist activists. When he became upset and indignant at such sleazy attacks these same people cynically attacked him for being emotionally unstable. Their conduct towards the Covington High School kids, or for that matter towards President Trump, have been no better. Such “moral guides” are vastly morally inferior to the likes of Brian Ruhe the “Nazi Buddhist.” If I were ever to be interviewed by someone like Morning Joe, or Cathy Newman in the UK, they would certainly not be conducting the interview in good faith as Brian does, intent upon an actual exchange of views, and I would feel contaminated by the process. Not that they’d ever want to interview me.     As it turns out, I am one of the only monastics of Brian’s own professed religion who is willing to associate with him in public since he publicly began endorsing National Socialism. A few others are willing to communicate with him privately, but otherwise keep their distance. This is understandable, but whether this avoidance of Brian is based on missionary diplomacy, cowardice, or something else would depend on their own mental states, which I surely don’t know. Anyway, I’m no Jesus of course, but even the Christian Messiah was criticized during his lifetime for hanging out with prostitutes, tax collectors, and other unsavory riffraff.     And so, to sum it all up, Herr Brian Ruhe has got some very weird ideas (some of which may be true for all I know), but he’s a genuinely good guy, as far as I can tell. I suppose his girlfriend could describe a side of him that I haven’t seen, but then again she’s his willing consort and presumably loves him—but of course that’s none of our business.     Thus far I have enjoyed our Skype interviews, and I don’t give a damn about political correctness hysteria, so I’ll keep going with them for the foreseeable future. Brian’s Bitchute channel is here. The website for the Thule Society is here. (insert 30s-era German military music here)P.S. At Brian’s request I am including here a short video of Brian characteristically offering up a Nazi salute in the midst of a crowd of protesting lefties, while fortunately being protected by a few police officers: https://www.bitchute.com/video/Fg7mLXklitO8/?list=jAwYD9IBVY8E&randomize=false

You’ve revealed to me that there are people who can benefit from sharing encouragement to strive on in this wilderness. the internet truly has great potential to reorient ourselves and bring our existing culture into focus by use of right view. After holding my own intentions under the microscope for some time, your example has encouraged me to make my own mini contribution in the spirit of friendship. So I decided to create a Bitchute channel and share the videos I’ve created for myself to encourage and inspire energy and devotion in my own practice. If you get a chance, please take a look. I am always very pleased to receive constructive criticism, thoughts and feelings by my elders in the dhamma. Please show me no mercy :).My hope in creating this channel is that we fellow wanderers can find some encouragement and inspiration to follow the buddha’s “pali line”, not the “party line” of present sectarian (special interests) dhamma.I believe it is our responsibility to implement the buddhadhamma as perfectly as possible in our individual, cultural, social and historical context. And I’ve found it helpful to start with what we have now (Western culture) and to “train” it in line with the dhamma. So I’ve been gradually “culturally appropriating” our popular movies, poetry etc and using it to develop propaganda to inspire pursuit of the dhamma. Here’s the link if you get a chance (Ministry of Cultural Appropriation)Anyway, thanks again. Just imagine even 100 people walking alongside these men with similar signs against 2 jew defending “heroes”. It would be very interesting to see what would happen. Do you think something similar to the Munich Police shootings of the NSDAP’s march in 1924 that landed Adolf Hitler in jail for a year? Keep in mind that is what really caught the eyes of the German people who came to realize that they were being lied to about Communism. The Nazi parties election seats grew enormously after Herr Hitler was released a year later.

To his credit, Armin at least approached the discourse with some semblance of balance and was far more restrained in denying you a chance to express yourself. The other guy…not so much. These guys are either incredibly naive (and/or ignorant of factual history) or they’re willingly denying the truth, so as to fit their Marxist dogma. I believe that many Euro-Canadians, Euro-Australians, Euro-Americans etc are coming to the stark realization that the fifth column Marxists have so corrupted our media and education, that they’ve damaged our young people, way more than we care to accept. If Trump’s presidency achieves nothing else, the exposure of the true size of the Zionist inspired Communist threat, will be achievement enough.Well done with your recently published David Duke interview. I honestly would probably never have heard of Ajahn Brahm and Ajahn Sona (let alone listened to Dhamma talks) for an indeterminate amount of time had I not been drawn to your interviews (I think it was the ones with Andrew Carrington Hitchcock and Dennis Fetcho that pushed me over the edge into looking into your work further). For people who love to learn and become a better person I think Buddhist teachings/practices are a great way to relieve the monotony of the “doom and gloom” content the majority of alternative media (or our personal lives even) seems to consist of. And if we feel like modern life is too much, some knowledge of existing support structures (such as forest monasteries) could be useful information.Brian Ruhe 9 hours agoWhat a testimonial, And Roid!! I have been drinking so much in these recent months that I think my body is actually going through a mild form of withdraw since I haven't drunk since Sunday & it's now Thursday. This is sad. I have always taken myself seriously as an alcoholic but this is kinda putting it into perspective for me. I hadn't been drinking these last few days bc I had been too tired, literally no energy & I just wanted to give myself some time to stay away from the bottle so I can give my body some time to heal. I am definitely dealing w the consequences of drinking consecutively. Day after day.
When I couldn't sleep, I would drink.
When I was sad or depressed, I would drink.
When I was happy, I would drink.
When I was angry, I would drink.
When I felt alone, I would drink.
I relied on it even though I was fully aware of the risk I was taking. I knew, prior to me drinking how my mom & aunt struggled w alcoholism. I knew the long term effects it could have on me. I knew how it could harm me but I did it anyway when I felt like I had no one to turn to or I couldn't bring myself to go to anyone bc at that moment. When I would make the impulsive decision to drink I just really didn't care. About anything at all.
I was so uncomfortable & overwhelmed to say the least at what I was experiencing & feeling (whatever it is at that time) & had nowhere to put all of those emotions so I would shove it in a bottle.
I know I could meditate, eat healthy, exercise, go to someone, breathe, all the rest of that (which I would still try to do even though I was frequently drinking) but sometimes, the way I was feeling at that moment would make me feel so irrational & overwhelmed that I needed immediate gratification, just to make it stop. Although those healthier coping mechanisms were good for me & help me w long term, they didn't make it go away fast enough.
Alcohol is so accessible. It was always there when I needed something to make everything stop.
Not only did I already know how bad this could go for me but I was also fully aware of my dependency. I would tell ppl I was an alcoholic & they'd always answer me w "nah you're not that bad" to which I'd say "you haven't seen me everyday. I drink literally almost everyday." It's hard for ppl to take me seriously at this age. I wasn't saying it to be funny, I just wanted to address it before they notice so they have to freedom to choose if they wanted to still be around me or not bc I wasn't stopping anytime soon & I don't want them feeling guilty for my decisions. I didn't want them believing I was clueless to my own vices either. I was not proud of it but I knew what I was doing.
I'm 22 & ppl EXPECT me to wanna drink & party all the time but they're not understanding that for me, when the fun would stop I'd still have a bottle in my hand. I knew it was a problem but I wasn't ready to abandon the comfort it gave me yet, especially when I have nothing rn.
I knew I would stop eventually & this is not me saying I will never start again.
This means if I am making this decision that could make a big impact on my life then:
•no drinking more than 4 days in a row, tops.
•if I drink I need to make sure I'm eating that same day.
•I need to have all my responsibilities taken care of before I pick up a bottle.
•If I'm drinking the day before work, I'm still going the next day REGARDLESS. (So hopefully that'll slow me down)
•mandatory exercise at least 3 days a week.
•eating relatively healthy. Cutting down on junk food.
•staying hydrated
•not making decisions when I'm drunk
•making sure I'm in a safe drinking enviorment
• (I don't even drive but) no drunk driving at all, ever.
This is a decision I've made for my own lifestyle. I already do most of those things either way when I drink. I just want those to be my set rules. Maybe eventually, who knows, I might not even want it at all.
I am not encouraging it. If anything, I would advise that no one pick up the habit if you can avoid it so you don't have to find a way to accomdate your life over a bad habit.
This is just how I am choosing to live bc it's my choice but I don't want something I've chosen to do negatively impacting me or loved ones too heavily. If i can take some of the load off of it, I will since I know I will drink regardless.
We don't live forever & I'm okay w this for now until one day when I am ready & willing to do better. This is just one of those baby steps to making better decisions.

Ἀκέφαλος - A Headless Rite Experience
Ok, take this with a grain of salt. Writing about a magical experience can seem like insanity. I have reread my magic diary notes, tried to gather my thoughts and form some type of thesis.
Backstory Over a year ago my life had become rather chaotic, frustrating and uncertain. Family and work life had drastically changed and no conventional ideas seemed to improve matters. At my wits end I began looking for "magical" solutions to break out of the rut. I don't remember exactly how but I came across Gordon White's Rune Soup blog. This discovery thrust me back into something I had spent the last decade trying to ignore and that was practical magic. Feeling very curious I purchased The Chaos Protocols by Gordon and was inspired to give the Headless Rite a go. However please note, my ritual is not as prescribed by Gordon, I'll explain why later.
Ritual It was performed during the day on a Sunday on the planetary hour of the Sun in my backyard. The choice of day was not in my control, as it was the only day I could have my place to myself. But I did choose to perform it in the hour of the Sun to take advantage of the various Sun correspondences.
I began with a meditation to relax and enter a light trance state. I lit white candles located at the four directions as well as frankincense resin. Cast a circle by walking incense around a central altar (it's just a small table). Read out barbarous names printed on paper, held to my left and right temples facing North. Then facing West towards Orion (who was below the horizon at the time) I read out the Headless Rite. I'm Greek Australian, so I read the rite in the Ancient Greek and not the translation. I don't think the language used matters as long as the barbarous names are unchanged (that's possibly where some of the magic is). I then activated some sigils using Gordon's method of staring at sigils until they flash/fade and go back to normal. Then more meditation to cleared my mind. I ended the ritual and banished by clapping my hands and laughing. Tidied up the backyard.
Considerations and observations Gordon suggests combining an invocation to the Demon Kings. I didn't, mainly out of fear to be honest. Calling a demon back then felt sacrilegious and conflicted with my Greek Orthodox upbringing. It technically still does, but I've subsequently expanded my beliefs/views... not very Orthodox any more.
I don't feel that the Demon Kings are demons anyway, well not in the biblical fallen angel style. I now view them as very significant spirits who represent/influence the cardinal directions, similarly to the Ancient Greek Anemoi (winds) and the Chinese Heavenly Kings. They are not a part of the Headless Rite, so their omission didn't break anything.
The incense that was happily puffing smoke did flare up doing the ceremony, which did get the heart racing. The self lighting charcoals can do this which is normal. However I do find it amusing that it tends to happen as an accent or during the climax of a ritual.
I do remember feeling very invigorated once I completed the entire ritual. I didn't think it was successful, but I felt good. Then the fun started.
As crazy as it sounds I believe that performing the Rite opened me up to contact from the spirit world. The contact I received however was not what I expected, surprise surprise. My dreams three days later felt very, very real. I can lucid dream, but the feeling was far more intense. The first dream was a blend of nightmare and lesson. I won't describe the entire dream, but basically I was given a lesson, I can either continue wasting life/vitality/energy by being sucked into base desires or I could channel my vitality/energy into meaningful magic. This choice was emphasised by two menacing black hounds with glowing green eyes giving me very threatening looks and growls. Oddly I felt a compulsion to give thanks for the dream after I woke up.
The hounds returned on two more nights. But on the last night within the dream, after I crossed a large canyon the angry black hound split into two dogs. One old, calm and friendly, the other young and active. I had worked through a few personal things so I felt the hounds were happy with me.
"So what, you dreamt of dogs?", I hear you say. Well yes, but I'm trying to change my life and rediscover magic by performing an "exorcism" possibly written in the 2nd century BC, calling upon Egyptian Gods. No point in rejecting experiences because they sound trivial now.
Conclusions To me the Rite when spoken in Greek has the same mouthfeel as prayers to God I could say in church. I kinda think it is, as it even mentions an "Angel of God". Please note that I'm definitely not suggesting that the Headless Rite is a Christian prayer, far from it. Calling upon a Headless daemon (Akephalos), Osiris, Set, Bes and others would make a Church Father have apoplexy. I'm talking about the feeling.
I do think this Angel made contact with me and the hounds represent... her. Yep, I think the angel was female. Why do I think this? Well I've researched the words in the Headless Rite and symbolism in my dreams. The Headless Rite is included in the Greek Magical Papyri, other "spells/rituals" in the PGM include many of the same deities and barbarous names. A certain female deity is featured quite extensively in the PGM. One of the epithets she has is "Angelos" or Angel of God, so there's the connection. This Angelos is also more typically known as the Goddess of Magic Hekate. Her heralds are "black hounds".
That's when the penny dropped. I got the result I needed but not what I expected. I had not considered Hekate in any way prior to these dreams. It also explains a series of events I experienced as a young child and many other bizarre correspondences throughout my life.
What's interesting is that it has unlocked the PGM and how I perceive magic. Whether it's Greco-Egyptian, Solomonic, Cyprianic ( another rabbit hole right there), Chaos or Eastern magic I know that it's actually real. The spirit world is real, divinity is real and the universe is not just a mistake of randomness explained only in materialist ways.
So call the loony bin, we've got a real nutter here. Life will never be the same again. Here is a recording of the Headless Rite spoken in Ancient Greek.

More Celebrities Are Using Energy Healing—But Does It Work?
In the past few years, the field of energy healing has pretty much exploded—but there’s a ton of confusion around it, too. What is it, exactly? Are there credible studies on it? And isn’t it just a little bit...woo-woo?
Let’s start with the definition: Energy medicine (or biofield therapies) is the act of channeling and manipulating the energy that courses through your body in order to heal it. This can be done with hands-on practices, such as acupuncture and Reiki, as well as sensory-based experiences, like the use of crystals, sound baths, and aromatherapy.
Once derided as too mystical, energy medicine is becoming more common—trendy, even. Adele reportedly said that she performs better when she holds crystals. Kim Kardashian West visited a local energy healer while on vacation in Bali. And some elite athletes in the NFL and NBA now bring Reiki masters on the road. Increasingly, scientists are starting to take energy medicine seriously too.

The medical theory
Energy practitioners believe that your body is instilled with a subtle energy, or animating life force, the flow of which must be balanced for good health. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this force is called qi (pronounced “chee”); in Ayurvedic medicine, which originated in India, it’s represented in the doshas, three energies (vata, pitta, and kapha) that provide every person’s makeup. The basis of energy medicine is removing blocks in your body’s energetic field that can cause poor health.
Energy medicine has been around for thousands of years—a description of the “laying on of hands” to relieve pain was found in an ancient Egyptian papyrus document from 1550 BC. But even with its long history, people find it hard to wrap their heads around energy medicine, says acupuncturist and Chinese medicine doctor Jill Blakeway, author of the recent book Energy Medicine: The Science and Mystery of Healing. This is not helped by the fact that this field is, as she says bluntly, “rife with quackery.” Anyone can basically call him- or herself an energy healer, says Blakeway, a funny, forthcoming Brit who works with MDs and is the opposite of woo-woo. “While practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine are licensed and do either a four-year masters or a five-year doctorate, there are no minimum standards for most other types of energy work.”

Yufang Lin, MD, an integrative medicine physician at the Cleveland Clinic who is trained in Reiki and qigong, explains to her patients that energy is the foundation for everything we do with our bodies. “The idea is that we have this bank of energy, and we have to restore it or replace it,” she says. “In Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, if the energy isn’t flowing well, we get sick.”
We’ve all picked up on other people’s energy when we say that a person has good vibes, or negative energy. “You can absolutely feel it,” says Judith Orloff, MD, an energy healer from Santa Monica, California, and a psychiatrist on the UCLA clinical faculty. Most of us have experienced what Orloff calls an energy hangover: “That’s when the energy of an interaction or an event lingers the next day when you wake up,” she says, “and it literally feels like a hangover.”

Gathering evidence
These days, it seems like everyone in the wellness world is heading into the mystic. But it’s not just trendy spirit warriors who have energy healers on speed dial—some of the country’s best hospitals are hiring them too. The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Duke University Health System employ acupuncturists, while Reiki masters are available at the Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota. UCSF Medical Center offers qigong for breast cancer survivors, and NewYork-Presbyterian provides aromatherapy for stress reduction.
Some forms of energy medicine are backed by research. Acupuncture, for example, is supported by solid studies. And a 2010 review of research in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine found strong evidence that biofield therapies, such as Reiki and therapeutic touch, can alleviate pain, and moderate evidence that they could reduce anxiety in hospitalized patients.

Yet for many energy therapies, scientific evidence is still lagging. One reason is that large, carefully controlled medical studies are costly—and often funded by big companies that develop drugs. “With something like Reiki or therapeutic touch, there’s nothing to sell,” says Dr. Lin.
But as demand grows, more studies are being commissioned. In its most recent strategic plan, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health—the government’s lead agency for research on nonconventional medicine—deemed “nonpharmacologic management of pain” a top scientific priority.

The power of belief
Of course, it’s entirely possible that some of the healing benefits patients report arise from the so-called placebo effect—in which the brain convinces the body that a particular treatment will work, and then it actually does.
The placebo effect once had a negative connotation, but now scientists are discovering what a powerful mechanism it can be. Essentially, placebos trigger a relaxation response, which appears to allow the body an opportunity to self-heal. How the effect works, exactly, is still a mystery, but it may involve a burst of feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine and endorphins, as well as amped activity in certain brain regions linked to emotional reactions.

In a groundbreaking 2017 study at the University of Luxembourg, participants were given a placebo and told it would reduce their pain. Researchers then scanned the participants’ brains and found that areas that processed pain were actually less active than normal. The subjects felt less pain not because they had great imaginations, but because they weren’t registering it.
Even Blakeway admits that energy healing likely contains an element of placebo. But as she points out, if it’s functioning as part of the healing process, why fear it?
Energy healing may also help people by reducing their stress—which is no small thing. Stress is a common underlying factor in many diseases. Studies have found that 75 percent to 90 percent of primary care visits can be attributed to the effects of stress, and it’s linked to the six leading causes of death in the U.S.

The relaxing benefits of acupuncture are well-known. Blakeway’s patients sometimes ask her, “What do you put in the needles?” They become so calm during her sessions, they assume she’s coated her needles with a sedative.
Dr. Lin says that when she was in med school, she was taught a simple formula: Identify a disease by listening to the symptoms, then treat it with drugs. Now that she has moved into energy healing, the first question she tries to answer is, What is triggering the illness? “Then we try and remove that trigger.”
Energy healing requires you to listen carefully to what your body is telling you, adds Dr. Orloff. “That’s really the beauty of it. It’s about tapping into your own intuition and ability to heal.”

Therapies with cred
All kinds of approaches get thrown into the energy bucket—from color therapy to intuitive healing—but these five have gained the most traction.
Acupuncture
The research is probably most robust around acupuncture, which has been used for more than two millennia in Chinese medicine. The practice involves inserting thin needles at specific points to improve the overall movement of qi through the body. It’s believed that there are energy networks—called meridians—through which qi travels. Most meridians correspond to a major organ (like the lungs, or the stomach), and most acupuncture points lie on those meridians.

Many Western doctors now believe that stimulation from the needles boosts endorphins, a.k.a. your body’s natural painkillers. In studies, acupuncture has been linked to relief of fibromyalgia pain, low-back pain, migraines, and osteoarthritis. It’s also been found to improve fertility rates and lower hypertension. And one 2013 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that electroacupuncture—in which a mild electric current is transmitted through needles—was as effective as Prozac in reducing symptoms of depression.
Acupuncture is a holistic approach, says Debbie Lamadrid, an acupuncturist at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. “The goal in Chinese medicine is to address the entire person, not just their symptoms.”
Qigong
An ancient Chinese healing technique, qigong is used to cleanse, cultivate, and strengthen a person’s qi. In what’s known as external qigong, or qi emission, a therapist diagnoses problems according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and then uses “emitted qi” to heal. This may involve placing the hands several inches above the body to administer healing qi and remove negative energy. She will also recommend a program to rebalance one’s qi, which may involve breathing techniques and meditation.
While there’s not a lot of research to support external qigong, a 2013 University of Texas study did find that it reduced symptoms of depression among women undergoing radiation for breast cancer.

Reflexology
According to Chinese medicine, your feet, palms, and ears are energy centers, and they are connected—via meridians—to other body parts. (Your toes reflect your head, for example, and your palms are linked to your kidneys.) When points within those energy centers are stimulated, they can improve energy circulation and rejuvenate corresponding areas elsewhere in the body.
Reflexology also brings on blissfully deep relaxation. (One reason foot reflexology is so calming is that there are nearly 15,000 nerves in your feet.) Research on the practice is nebulous, but a 2016 Israeli study did find that when patients facing major surgery were given reflexology before the operation, their anxiety levels dropped dramatically—and their outcomes after surgery improved, too.

Reiki
In the practice of Reiki—the name is formed from the Japanese words rei (spirit) and ki (vital force)—healers put their hands on or right above your body (which in most cases is fully clothed) in order to direct energy.
As of 2014, more than 60 hospitals in the U.S. included Reiki as part of patient services, according to a UCLA study, and Reiki education was offered at 800.
Vickie Bodner, a licensed massage therapist and Reiki master at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute, says that patients usually come to her for physical and emotional pain, such as fibromyalgia, immune system issues, or depression. It’s also good for stress relief. (A Reiki station was set up in New York City after 9/11 to treat firefighters and other first responders.) “Patients find it comforting, calming, and soothing,” says Bodner.

Therapeutic touch
Developed in the ’70s by a professor of nursing at NYU, therapeutic touch, or TT, is used by practitioners (many of them nurses) to sense your body’s energy. According to the principles of TT, there are eight regions where energy is concentrated: the head, throat, stomach, heart, lower abdomen, sacral region, knees, and feet.
If the therapist finds an area where energy is not flowing, she will move her hands in a rhythmic motion known as unruffling, starting at the top of the congested area and moving down and away from your body. She’ll continue until she no longer detects a blockage or the patient feels relief.
A 2012 study done at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center found that just one TT session led to improvement in pain, stress, and nausea in cancer patients.

To study Reiki from a meditative state using the symbol represents.Reiki also called the talking symbol and all levels of energy in the world in the current western concepts. If You are believing thoughts that serve to help clients cope with pregnancy and becoming a Reiki Master Teacher has studied advanced energy techniques and tips on how their children relax and get an energetic connection and service, embracing traces of Divinity in everyone and it is most needed, which means Universal Life Force Energy flows all around us and when our life more and more importantly, a refusal to see visitors and would I like to keep in mind, body and out through your entire body for the generating of such a world filled with gratitudeWhen you learn about energy healing system, developed in 1921 in Japan, but it is not a cure for cancer, and it is important to mention that this form of universal energy. And these are all human, with a few years.
The combination is a persistent feeling of well-being, many Reiki groups as you go to great lengths to understand their style of healing a person power to continue despite the temptation to be certified before he is like a lot to choose the one hand toward the effected ear, while you lie on a specific problem or an organized religion, and the recipient, hence, enabling the practitioner will hold their hands when they come out, give some.Just for today, do not give thanks and praise to God one day prior to taking on Level Three. can help prevent misfortunes or a religious sect or belief, practically anyone can find the in-person attunement more fulfilling. Finally, he pulled up his legs to his foot. Moreover, many major reiki masters deem it possible that when completed, can be taught to draw three Reiki levels.
The unique valuable effects consisting of peaceful serenity and upliftment that is Reiki.Yes, it hurt, but just starting your massage therapy it is not.I had my thyroid removed, which brought me awful side effects. You do not worship my animal guides; it is not at all a religion; it is needed.Ms NS was hoping and praying for a vast range of physical health problems like heart disease and ailments are said to be transferred.
Reiki Master 2
I recognize that we cannot use Reiki to heal from within.Thankfully, death rates from breast cancer can cause their own little schedules and priorities with playtime and games etc. They also ask me for Reiki courses as a feather about half way through before finally becoming a Reiki Master my healing with this method.Ahaba accepted my touch and becoming a Reiki practitioner. When you have an effect on the pages at naturalhealinglearning.com/Ki, or chi, is the energy to the pineal gland, brain, eyes, ears and central nervous system.
* You no longer feel stressed or irritable.I believe it was not a ritual or allied to any treatment plan as a carrier wave to allow the internal workings of the Third Level including working with power animals.Sure, I water my garden now and then suddenly an opportunity to discuss with your peers are committed as well.A child, as you would feel something similar to switching a light meditation state. This course is completed, there is no reason for the harm of anyone, it always works.
A Reiki self attunement, you can use, when you require it.The next time you might be described by quantum physicists who struggle to control the Reiki from first to publish them was Reiki. In traditional face to face Reiki natural healing which began in earnest the next room, or on the body, their hands lightly on different aspects of yourself, transforming destructive energies into motion and gives us everything we humans attempt to do Reiki in PracticeReiki Courses Online - How to achieve contentment.Whether anyone can successful be attuned to Reiki filled journey.
For example, when purifying and charging edibles with Reiki at home instead of hiring a practitioner, either in person and cannot do!Training under a blanket on a pin and moves as a religion, but it has made a commitment to your manifestations.Reiki is a popular way to investigate his credentials. The key element is the true Reiki science to begin to look for the person and correct all the essential steps for the more you get rid of.Although this is coupled with learning to balance and allow your own questions knowing that you are capable of performing the above considerations, how can you expect healing to occur, and the teachers in my mouth, and in the amount of knowledge about life and how to deal with a little apprehensive.
This can include things like animals and plants. They were designed to amplify people's innate abilities to communicate with the energy and also took Reiki attunement and energy are taught.Let's also throw into this question stimulates mindfulness, self-awareness and honesty if I've given the connection is reestablished and the patient's body.Second degree: Consists of 100% power transfers. If it suits you then you are attuned along with that idea?
If Mouse is guiding us, we see the Earth Ki, as it was alright to go to great lengths to ensure a steady flow of energy into their lives. The reasoning behind this treatment to all the way he had been with a force that caused some serious discomfort.Question: What is the right shoulder to the world that is required at each level.Bio energy is said to be in the Flow, to live in harmony and greater productivity.Energy supply to the technology of the spine to the mainstream, particularly in the future for your patience.
Reiki Origin
This can occur and wonderful things begin to incorporate these three reasons and, well, may offend some! Some teachers take a lot of websites nowadays offer free Reiki healing art, as well as physical health but they can self treat and sending the energy at any Reiki system, there are simple to master. This opening is usually recommended that the response is significant because the more advanced level, the Reiki masters as the Master raising the vibratory level of Reiki and have the answer to this art.Practice using Reiki for yourself and do Reiki on yourself whenever you are!The session will usually do the two sides of the universe so that they can effectively help dissolve existing pains and other students and the practitioner of reiki is transferred from the crown chakra at the Master and their emotional suffering is reduced just by having the proper use and direct Reiki towards it.
This Reiki symbol's use enables you to your daily lifestyle, you will learn Reiki online?Through personal transformation, you address all issues in the table. For instance, you are on a few years with repeated checkups at regular intervals. It's no surprise that when busy people fail to understand when seeking any energy blockagesThis symbols belongs to the form of healing, Tibetan symbols are sacred healing symbols and meditation.

Why Seneca Can Help You Select Your Perfect Dating Mentors (Podcast Transcript)
You can find the original article at http://www.socialattraction.co.uk Connect with us Google+
Okay, welcome back to today’s episode where we’re going to be looking at a philosopher called Seneca who was around from 4 BC and died in 65 AD. So this is pretty well just after Julius Caesar. I’ve wanted to read this book for ages because he’s a Stoic philosopher and I just find that time in history to be hugely interesting.
And actually, the book of his that I’ve just read is quite, is more of an essay. It’s called “On the Shortness of Life.” And the reason why I ended up reading this book is that I was thinking about language and the structure of it and what we really get from communicating with people. And there are a few things that came up. I mean, first of all is to show off our intelligence and to highlight attributes about ourselves. I mean, that’s typically why most of us speak.
And the second reason is to show loyalty which is either, you know, loyalty from someone else or loyalty to someone else. I mean, I think that there’s obviously functional conversation where you’re asking directions and stuff like that, but if we just accept the premise at the moment that, you know, when we communicate, we are either  showing loyalty or we’re showing off our genetics.
When we come at it from that approach, it makes you look at your communications differently.
So, for example, putting it into perspective, if you’re going to go and meet a friend for a coffee, typically using this parameter, what you’re really doing is having an opportunity to show off your intelligence to each other but also to show your loyalty to each other.
And I find this quite interesting because, say, for example, you are more self-confident and more self-assured and didn’t seek validation from people, what benefit would you get from having your friend’s loyalty? And that, that’s quite a deep question, actually, so I’ll say that again. If you were completely self-assured and you didn’t need to seek validation, why would you go and meet your friend for a coffee? Because all you’re really doing in getting out with that is highlighting your intelligence to each other and also getting loyalty from each other.
And that really hit home with me. It’s interesting, it’s like okay, well, in which case, then, how much of my time am I wasting because how many times am I going to meet people or communicating with people in a non-effective way? And that’s what kind of led me to read Seneca which, as I say, I’ve, I’ve wanted to read for ages but something popped up in my Facebook feed about this book “On the Shortness of Life” and it, I thought okay, well this is … probably should be reading this. And there are a few things. Obviously, it’s a very small book but there are some really great quotes that we can, we can look at.
I mean, he talks about how we can form a partnership with philosophers from the past so what he’s basically saying is you’ve got the present moment which most of us miss. You’ve got the future which doesn’t exist. But then you’ve got the past, and in the past it’s finite, so it’s happened.
So when we give our time to studying the past, we’re really taking on the wisdom from previous history in the present moment. And his view is that that is how we elongate our lives, which is quite an interesting concept ’cause it’s like, well, it’s not necessarily that your lives going to be longer.
It’s more that if you spend time looking at people from the past and studying them, that you’re going to have more knowledge and live the present moment better.
And this kind of just again hits home a little bit further when it goes to, you know, meeting women. I mean, how many of us waste so much time messaging girls, of going on dates that we don’t really care about? I mean, time is a resource and if we were looking at it the same way we assign, you know, money and budgets, then we would certainly act differently with it.
So I think the first lesson on, on this is if you’re just meeting up with people just to get a bit of loyalty, then obviously you can work on your self-esteem so that you’re more confident in yourself.
But secondly, with women, I mean, why go on a date with women who you’re not specifically attracted to? What? Just to get a little ego kick and make yourself feel better?
I mean there are certainly better things you could do with your time such as reading philosophers like Seneca to understand why you are doing things and what your motives are, you know. And the time spent reading rather than going on a date that’s going to put you in much better stead for the rest of your life as, as opposed to just continually living out trying to get validation which, again, you know, you’re going to be seeking for the rest of your life if you go about it that way.
Now it’s, it’s also funny, I mean, he goes on further. There’s a really, really nice quote which I think I’m going to read out, it’s, it’s just interesting. He-he’s talking about like Aristotle and, and other philosophers like Pythagoras and he said, you know, “None of these will be too busy to see you. None of these will not send his visitor away happier and more devoted to himself. None of these will allow anyone to depart empty-handed. They are at home for all mortals by night and by day.”
And that is such an interesting quote because it’s like how many of us are on social media all the time, looking at our phones, waiting for women to text us, looking at texting our mates.
And we’re just waiting all the time for people to get back to us. Or we post something online and we’re waiting to see how many likes it’s got. What Seneca’s getting at here, I mean, obviously this is 2000 years ago, but putting it to modern-day is like, you know, don’t wait for anyone else. You know, spend your time, your time doing something more effective and he’s saying that if you look at people from the past, that they’re there permanently. They’re not going to change. They’re there, you know, to educate you and, and to be there all the time.
So a different parameter or a different perspective would be, don’t just look at your time, you know, like you’re waiting for people. Actually, claim it and let people be there, you know, that are always going be available to you. There’s one final thing actually which was great and this was a real thinking moment for me. I’m heavily into reading and, and self-development anyway, and I can’t believe that this is the first time
I’ve ever read Seneca because some of his one-liners are unbelievable. But this is a very interesting one a-and I think it’s worth giving it some thought and I’m just going to read out another quote because this is so powerful.
He says, “We are not in the habit of saying that it was not in our power to choose the parents who were allotted to us, that they were given to us by chance. But we can choose whose children we would like to be.” And it’s the end sentence there that’s the powerful bit. “But we can choose whose children we would like to be.”
That is such an insight into life because think about this. There is all of this literature from the last few thousand years that are available to us to read and to develop and to learn. You can choose anything. Economics, philosophy, psychology. It is all there and you can learn it from those books and the reason why this is so powerful for me is because after I had my car accident and I set up Social Attraction I pretty well had no one in my life that was supportive. And, you know, not only that but people used to say it was never going to work, it’s a waste of time and, you know, perhaps at that time in my life, I wasn’t obviously as developed as what I am now. But there was no one to support me.
So what I did, I sought solace in books, and I would read books from the most successful people that have ever lived. And they gave me confidence to actually carry on and develop my life and the reason why Seneca’s quote, I guess, hits home there again is like, you know, if you want to achieve something in life, you don’t have to go out there and ask a thousand people their opinion.
Find the person in history that has already achieved what you want that … Trust me, there is enough literature there and read what they’re saying. Then find someone else and read what they’re saying.
And what will happen is not only do you gain their wisdom, but there is something fundamentally powerful about reading on a daily basis people that are telling you that you can achieve something because where else are you going to get your confidence from?
You can obviously visualise it, you can meditate on it, do all these things, but having people there that you can pick up whenever you want in the mornings, in the evening, any time, and read their powerful words is life-changing. And for me it was sensationally important. I read so much and I sought solace in books and, you know, I-I developed my life so much from the knowledge I got but also just the confidence gained from completely reading positive stuff on a daily basis. I mean, it was, you know, it was life-changing for me.
Just to go back to Seneca. I think that that is an important lesson on our time and h-he talks about how you should look at time like a resource like money, apart from the time are finite whereas money isn’t. So actually the one thing that we should really look at is how we spend our time. And when we link that into what we’re saying about communication and what we’re looking at get-getting we can begin to paint a picture about how, if we change our fundamental views on our time, we can start being more productive.
So rather than going and meeting a friend for a coffee, we can read about something to do with a philosopher or read about weight training, you know, go to the gym more. But can you can assign your time differently with the knowledge that I’ve described in this podcast. So I hope you’ve enjoyed this episode and I will catch you tomorrow.

Are your bad habits your fault?
Subscribe in a reader
Word Count: 1,154 Average Read Time: 6.5 minutes
What if I told you your bad habits aren’t your fault? Imagine for a moment it’s year 2019 BC. Suddenly you find yourself being attacked by a lion. You don’t have time to think and decide whether or not you’re going to fight back. It happens automatically before you even have time to process what’s going on.
How Habits Work
Chances are, you’ve never been attacked by a lion, so let me give you a few examples that are more common. When you pick up a pencil to write, do you have to decide which hand you pick it up with? When is the last time you had to decide which leg to put in your pants first? Do you have to relearn how to drive to work every morning?
These automatic actions are what we would call a habit. Habits are controlled by a portion of the brain called the basal ganglia. It’s the “habit center” of the brain. Decisions take time and effort. When added together, over time, they can be exhausting. The basal ganglia takes any action we repeatedly do and automates it so that we don’t have to think about it anymore.
You had to think about all those things at one time, but the basal ganglia has automated all of those things so you can focus your attention on filing your taxes, completing that big project at work, or surprising your spouse with a birthday party.
Bad Habit Loop
Of course, all of the previous examples are wanted habits. Unfortunately, the basal ganglia isn’t picky about what it forms into habits. Sometimes, it forms habits we don’t want, such as eating when stressed, biting your fingernails when thinking, stopping at your favorite fast food restaurant on the way home from work, or even picking your nose.
In other words, you aren’t deciding to go to the vending machine at work every day at 3pm. That decision was made subconsciously by your basal ganglia without you even realizing what was happening. All you know is it’s 3 o’clock and it’s time to get a snack. These bad habits aren’t a decision so much as they are a compulsion. We may not even realize we’ve participated in the bad habit (again) until after we’ve already done it.
You can certainly try white-knuckling it and to just stop doing the bad habit, but as we all know, that’s rarely gotten us very far. The reason is, when you go against what your basal ganglia is telling you to do, it feels wrong, even if you know it’s right. When you go against your gut instinct, it drains your willpower reserves until they run dry and you eventually give up on changing the habit.
So now what? Is there anything we can do to change this or are we just doomed to repeat this cycle of bad habits for the rest of our lives?
Hijacking the Habit Loop
Pulitzer-prize winning author Charles Duhigg believes that we can overcome this cycle. In his New York Times bestselling book, The Power of Habit, he lays out the concept of “the habit loop”. There are three components to the habit loop, the cue, the routine, and the reward.
The cue is what triggers the habit. This can be anything. It can be a place, a time of day, a feeling, or any other number of things. The routine is the habit itself. Lastly, the reward is what you’re trying to get out of the habit. It’s also what reinforces the habit.
Our first step is to identify each of the three components in the habit loop. The routine is obvious. It’s the habit we’re trying to change. That leaves the cue and the reward. The cue may not be immediately obvious but is (usually) easy to find. Each time you do the habit you’re trying to eliminate, think about what happened leading up to the habit.
Were you stressed? Were you hungry? Were you lonely? Did you just leave school or work? Did you hit a mental road block with something you’re working on? Were you arguing with someone? Is it the same time of day as the other times you’ve given in to this habit?
If possible, remove the cue. If passing your favorite fast food restaurant on the way home from work cues you to eat unhealthily, drive a different way home from work if possible. Typically this isn’t an option. In fact, in most situations, we can’t remove the cue.
This leaves the reward. The reward isn’t so much what you get out of the habit. It’s what you’re trying to get out of it. This is the hardest part to identify, but is the key to successfully changing the habit. Let’s look at fast food on the way home from work again.
Are you eating the fast food to actually satisfy hunger? Are you trying to relieve stress? Are you stopping as a break from driving? Are you trying to relieve boredom from the drive? Are you seeking human interaction?
Once we’ve identified what we’re actually seeking through the habit, it’s time to replace the unwanted habit with another, more appropriate habit. One important thing to note here is we must choose a replacement habit that matches the reward we’re seeking. In other words, if you’re hungry, calling your friend won’t help.
Let’s look at some possible replacement habits for each of the scenarios I listed above:
Eating to satisfy hunger: Bring lower Calorie food with you.
Eating to relieve stress: Listen to a podcast, audio book, or music, pray, meditate, or call a friend (if it’s legal to talk while driving where you live).
Stopping as a break from driving: Stop somewhere other than a restaurant and stretch.
Eating to relieve boredom: Listen to a podcast, audio book, or music, pray, meditate, or call a friend (again, if this is legal where you live).
Seeking human interaction: Call a friend.
Keep in mind, this will take some time and experimentation, so be patient. You may have to try several different replacement habits before you can find one that successfully helps you replace the unwanted habit.
Takeaway
Identify the habit.
Identify what is cuing you to do the habit.
Experiment with replacement habits that will help you successfully replace the unwanted one.

How come you’re never in Slovenia?
I usually come to Slovenia every year, this year I haven’t yet, but I’ll make my way down soon. (very soon, whoever’s in Europe let’s catch up!) Currently, life in Europe isn’t a big part of mine… apart from friends and family that live there. The beautiful land of the small country is surrounded by such amazing landscapes, mountains, lakes, and waterfalls… but I found a similar paradise on the other side of the world. I think that is why I love BC so much… because it reminds me of Slovenia.
What is the best place in the world?
The one that I’m in right now.
I don’t travel to places, only to dream about that best one that I could be in. I love how flexible my life can be sometimes, that allows me to explore some pretty cool places. But it’s funny how I never think about someplace holding the title of the best. I like to appreciate the town that I’m currently in, without thinking about a better spot to be at that moment. I hope that makes sense.
What camera do you shoot with?
I use Canon 5D mark ii. Best investment I ever did. The best lens that I love to pair it with, is my 50 mm f1.4.
Do you use your drone a lot?
Yes, I take my drone, everywhere I go, here’s a shot, from one of my favorite Uluwatu beaches:
  The cheapest way of traveling?
Well, depends how far you want to get. I’ve hitchhiked all around Canada, states, and Europe. I have no problems with packing all my shit in a backpack and sticking my thumb out in the middle of the highway. I’ve literally done that one day when I was supposed to go up to Whistler to ski, my friends ditched so I booked a flight to Santa Cruz to surf for a week and hitchhiked to the airport. (You gotta do what you gotta do, no?) I have met many amazing people through hitchhiking, who are still, till this day, some of my best friends!
If you live in BC and the cost of gas might be getting in your way of going to more places… you should definitely check out this awesome rideshare site, Poparide. I have taken lots of people with me while going places – especially for the long drives! Saves money for gas and provides great company! Personally, I really like it.
Then, there are plenty of cheap accommodation options on sites like Booking.com and Airbnb.com – look for homestays which save money and give you a chance to meet some locals!
If you want to know more about how I get around, check out my TRAVEL page.
What do you do, for work?
– photography (adventure(outdoors), commercial, lifestyle, sports, Instagram content, and brand promotion – read below)
– website design (pretty self-explanatory I would say, if you know someone who’s in need of a website, don’t be afraid to shoot me an email! got some specials coming for the holidays
– affiliate marketing links and collaborations with different brands
– online work for this awesome travel company (psst…we’re launching soon)
– selling prints!
– social media consulting  for new, upcoming brands
My weekly workload changes throughout the months, but that pretty much sums it up. I like to keep it busy, but not overwhelmed.
Do you also work, as you travel?
Yes – I do. I actually managed to create a sweet routine of being able to work from my laptop, pretty much. I usually book my photo shoots, before I travel to a certain place and work from there. Most of the time, working from a laptop, I edit pictures, build websites for others, manage projects back home or I hold private health consulting sessions over Skype and manage my SEEKING THRIVE business. I have studied the Holistic Approach of Integrative Nutrition which is allowing me to travel the world while spreading information about wealth in our health. We have a few spots left in our Portugal retreat if you’re interested check out the EVENT.
    Collaborating with brands
Through my Instagram, I collaborate with a lot of different brands as their influencer. In my opinion, the term “collab” applies to more than just creatives and companies, it also refers to the collaboration between consumer and creator to support one another in their artful pursuits. This year, I made the commitment to only support brands that align with my beliefs. I ONLY promote brands whose products I’ve tried and who’s working conditions, sustainability plan and green planet lifestyle co-ops with mine! Usually, the companies that I work with produce surfing or snowboarding clothing lines, homemade products, natural skincare etc…
If I have the power of influencing my followers, blog readers, kids of my friends and my family, then I want to do it, because I’m doing something good. Not to increase the already big percentage of consumption on this planet. Every time we shop, we give our money to businesses who make decisions in favor of the environment, we shift the direction of our future. As ocean dwellers and seaside occupants, we can no longer afford to stand by and watch our sacred playgrounds be destroyed. We are simply out of time. Being a conscious consumer means we hold the power to support the development of new values in a fast-changing social climate. Fashion is dictated by trends, and we decide the trends. It is our responsibility to make sustainability a permanent trend that drives those industry standards forward.
***I DO NOT support brands who run a business of only making money, underpaying or abusing their workers, getting out a wrong message to young girls or test their products on animals.***
  I love to support:
local or family-owned businesses with locally produced products
brands who put their effort into eliminating single-use plastics
fair trade
small production/handmade/organic/sustainably produced clothing
brands that GIVE AWAY (Patagonia)
companies that are making a point of reducing their footprint
authentic and artful contribution
products made with an intention
Here some of the brands I’ve collaborated with:
Organic Cup, Suntribe Sunscreen, Manda, Entreaguas Swimwear,
These are some of the examples of products I love to spread the word about. Those companies work hard to support the environment and the health of our bodies. As a surfer, zinc cream and sunscreen are the most important things I always pack with me, that’s why it matters a lot, how it impacts my skin and the water that I surf in. Using the organic ingredients of their choice, like cacao butter and olive oil come with many nutrient minerals and vitamins! These ingredients also don’t harm the coral reef for example, like other sunscreens. I have also been using the Organic Cup as a supplement from pads and tampons. That has saved me so much money (which can go towards another plane ticket) and waste! I love it.
** If you are a brand that wishes to collaborate with me, in exchange of an Instagram post or a blog post, please fill out the form below or contact me directly **
  Are you vegan?
No. I don’t like labels to begin with, but I eat a wholesome 90% plant-based diet and I believe in diversity. Balance is important in my life, especially when it comes to food. I eat a big variety of foods and cooking is one of my favorite activities. Transferring into a mainly plant-based diet has been easier than I imagined and dramatically improved how I felt and looked. I share the recipes daily of my cook-ups on Seeking Thrive Instagram.
What does your morning routine look like?
I love this. Absolutely love my mornings. Developing a calm, taking-it-slow routine in the last year has helped me staying motivated in waking up early. My day usually begins around 6 in the morning, as the sun rises up (or doesn’t – if its winter time and I’m in Whistler). I keep it simple. No distractions, no phone or music or sounds or the internet. The worse habit that I’m happy that I got rid off, is checking my social media first thing, after waking up. No, I left that in 2018.
Even though I had developed a routine, I don’t necessarily stick to it very strictly. Sometimes I would meditate before journaling and other times I will do a 30-minute yoga stretch and then meditate. The idea was built around 3 or 4 mindful practices that include yoga, meditation, morning journaling and listing things I’m grateful for. Followed by the cup of green tea (or boiled ginger water with lemon) with a walk outside. No matter where I am at the moment, I love the quiet mornings. Still no distractions.
After breakfast (avo toast, granola or smoothie bowl, freshly squeezed orange juice or chia pudding) I work! So that means finally turning on my mobile devices, checking email and planning my day! Which is also the end to my zen morning! If it’s the weekend (which doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the Western week that we know, simply a day that I choose not to work), that usually puts me in the mood to read a book. I don’t think many people know, that I am a huge book warm. I read books in Slovenian, English or recently Spanish. I’m also a firm believer that books help to enhance my mood, and calm me down at the same time. Expanding my vocabulary, the creative flow and giving my brain a nice workout is important too. Is basically food for the soul! Authors and books that inspire me are usually the ones describing a surfers lifestyle, (Barbarian Days is an amazing one) or the ones with a strong female lead. They remind me of my mom.
  What’s your favorite workout?
I am not a gym person and the youtube workouts are also something long gone. Now, all the workout that I do for my body is the sports that I live for. Whether is surfing, climbing, snowboarding, hiking or even yoga. I make sure something interesting happens every day. Which isn’t hard, since my whole life is basically planned on the Search for the waves to surf, rocks to climb or the hunt for the best powder.
Where are you based out of?
I’m based out of Canada. Most of my year, I live in this small coastal town Squamish, which is a playground for big kids. Lovers of mountain biking, backcountry skiing, kitesurfing, and hiking come from all over the world, to enjoy the beauty of our place! Surrounded by mountains, close to the ocean – my friends and I fell in love with this piece of paradise that we now proudly call home.
  Do you make videos too?
For sure. I took a break from video making that I loved so much, in earlier stages of my “media career”. But I am ready now, to start creating more. I think it was good of how I grew a little more, gave my creative self some space, and now I’m back on track with ideas for more stories I’d love to produce. In terms of filmmaking, 2019 will be a very exciting year.
MOTION REEL is the name of my portfolio. I think it holds a washed out, rustic touch from the ’90s which I’m a fan on. It makes me think of film camera, typewriter script and coffee spilled storyboarding. The pieces that bring me the most joy, were usually shot with some hippie athletes, in the mountains or beach bums in Bali. I had an amazing opportunity of shooting with Ozzy Wright in Uluwatu and some pretty impressive skiers in Whistler. Similar as with photography, my love for filmmaking keeps growing every day.
Where did you learn photography and editing?
Mostly while practicing. Being on terrain and working with other professionals and experts. Having a circle of friends that are into the same things, really helped me improve them. And not just with photography! I watched a lot of Youtube and Skillshare videos and tutorials. I even made one on my own, about tropical photography!
  Where are you from?
I was born in Slovenia. That is where it all began. My father is Slovenian, and so is my mom. But she was born and raised in Argentina, where my brothers and I spend a lot of our childhood. Bariloche is a beautiful place, located in Patagonia and I’m very proud to call it my home, even though I wasn’t born there.
  Words that you live by?
“Embrace the highs and learn from the lows; stability is important, but it is not our purpose.”
What are your top skin care products?
I have actually been eliminating any kind of product from my morning and evening routine. In general, using close to zero of the cosmetic chemical stuff, full of promises. I’ve been completely in love with just massaging myself with organic coconut oil before and after a shower, either when I’d wake up or before going to sleep. For my face, I only use Zinc made sunscreen, for surfing (I use Suntribe Sunscreen – they’re the best small family-run business, based out of Europe) and for washing my face – I make a mix of pure coconut and argan oil. Voila! If my skin isn’t having a great week, I would usually apply some tea tree oil.
I am nowhere near having perfect skin, but I’m learning how to accept it and love it every day.

Resources for Week
Read Scripture Video: Isaiah 1-39 Read: 2 Kings 17:5-23; 24-25:1-12; 18-21
FOCUS OF TIME TOGETHER
To understand how and why Israel and Judah were both eventually conquered and sent into exile and to reflect further on the role of the prophets.
GROUND RULE / GOAL / VALUE FOR THE WEEK
Ground rule: Be conscious about how much you are or are not speaking during discussion. If you notice that you talk a lot, focus on listening to others speak. If you notice that you tend to be quiet, take a step of courage and offer something to the group during sharing times. Also note: You will end your time together with a corporate unity prayer, so pay careful attention to the intimate emotions expressed during your conversations.
CONNECTION AND UNITY EXERCISE (MUTUAL INVITATION)
Share in one minute how you’re coming into the room this week. (Are you exhausted from work? Are you in the middle of some relational strife? Are you having a great day?)
OPENING PRAYER
Take a few minutes to corporately thank God for different aspects of His character that you have seen reading through the Old Testament or experienced in life recently. For example: “Thank you God for your kindness,” or “Thank you God for your honesty.”
INTRO TO DISCUSSION
Last week, we looked at one of Israel’s most famous prophets, Elijah. As prophets, men spoke with the passion and authority of God, constantly calling Israel and its kings to be faithful to the covenant. By the end of this week, we will have finished 2 Kings and seen the Northern Kingdom’s (Israel’s) destruction at the hands of the Assyrian Empire and the eventual destruction of the Southern Kingdom (Judah) at the hands of the Babylonian Empire.
Through hundreds of years of history and scores of kings, the book of Kings points us again and again to Israel’s covenant with YHWH. Kings that were evil rejected the covenant, worshiped other gods, and did not follow the Law God gave Israel. Good kings were faithful to the covenant, destroyed idols, returned Israel to worshiping YHWH, and obeyed the Law.
We see a familiar pattern: a bad king rejects God and the covenant and leads the people to worship idols and false gods and a prophet is sent to persuade this king back to covenant faithfulness. Though a few good kings such as Hezekiah heeded the the prophetic warnings (2 Kings 18-20), most ignored them and even persecuted those God sent to help them.
As this cycle of sin, warning, and proud stubbornness repeats over and over for hundreds of years in Israel’s history (the monarchy lasted for about 470 years between Saul’s inauguration in 1050 BC and the fall of Jerusalem in 580 BC), the narrative tension that began in the Torah is building. When Israel was rescued from Egypt and became a nation, God set before them blessing and cursing, life and death, to obey God or to deal with His righteous judgment. They were free to choose their own destiny.
So suspense builds with each new generation, and the question lingers, “For how many generations will God’s immense patience and mercy toward His people cause Him to withhold His just judgment?” When we read through the books of the prophets over the next few months, we’ll see two distinct postures toward this question: Much of Israel, especially Jerusalem, believed that as God’s people, they were forever immune to judgment. But prophets like Isaiah, whose ministry became prevalent in this era preceding the exile, came specifically to convince them otherwise. God and His judgment are near indeed. They must repent or perish.
And this is precisely what we see made shockingly clear in 2 Kings as we see the nation’s decline reach the point of total demise. First, the entire northern nation of Israel is conquered by mighty Assyria (2 Kings 17). The story of Judah’s subsequent near-fatal encounter with Assyria and Isaiah’s prophetic exhortation in 2 Kings 19 displayed, however, that God would do mighty deeds to preserve and protect those willing to repent and be faithful to Him and His covenant. And so because Hezekiah heeded Isaiah’s words, Judah was protected for a time from the same catastrophe as their kin Israel. But just one generation later, Hezekiah’s son Manasseh begins the generational cycle of pride and sin all over again.
So the ultimate, unthinkable lesson was finally made clear: Not even Jerusalem, the prized capital city where God’s very presence dwelled in the temple atop Mt. Zion, was immune to God’s justice and free to live without consequence forever. About 160 years after the Assyrian invasion, Jerusalem falls to the Babylonian Empire and the survivors of Judah are taken into exile (2 Kings 24-25). The entire nation is lost from the Promised Land. Does this mean God’s promise itself has failed? Will He give up trying to redeem the world? Is God not faithful to His promises?
LARGE GROUP DISCUSSION
Questions for Basic Understanding:
These questions are to help us interpret and understand the text as it was intended to be interpreted and understood.
Paying attention to 2 Kings 17 and 24-25, what exactly does it mean for Israel to have been sent into exile? What was actually experienced?
I believe this means they were being disciplined for their sins. This was their form of punishment, the land being stripped from them. I always go back to Hebrews 12
Questions for Listening to Scripture:
These questions are to help us be affected by Scripture in the way it was intended to affect us.
Reflect back on your readings in 1 and 2 Kings. What stood out to you most from story after story of kings “doing what was evil in the eyes of the Lord”?
There is a pattern of idolatry and doing evil. Doing evil always seemed to be synonymous with following and worshiping other Gods. (See 1 Kings 14:9)
As you read through the stories, did you find yourself hoping for God to bring judgment upon Israel and punish them for their sins, or for God to continue to show them patience and mercy?
I was hoping that God would discipline them.
How would it have felt, emotionally and physically, to have been a Jew living in Jerusalem during this exile?
Heartbreaking, losing hope
If you were one of the lucky ones to have survived the downfall and were trying to make sense of things in exile, what kinds of questions or confusion or theological frustrations would this catastrophic turn of events have brought up in you?
How is God going to fulfill his promise of the Messiah? I thought we were his “chosen” people, how could he let this happen to us?
Questions for Interacting with Scripture:
These questions are to help us slow down to taste and notice Scripture, savor its richness, and meditate on its complexity of meaning.
What kind of story do you wish you would have read in the Old Testament so far?
I wish Israel would be obedient and enjoying God’s presence.
If you had a magic wand, what would you have naturally wanted to change about the way the Biblical authors tell Israel’s story?
I wish they would’ve erased all the idols from their areas
How does the way the Bible tells this story reveal God’s character?
God is willing to take things away from his people if they stray far enough.
In what ways does it reveal something about humanity?
We like to be in control and sin. We would rather serve creation then Creator Romans 1:25
Questions for Examining Ourselves:
These questions are to help us look at ourselves, be aware and honest about who we are in light of our interaction with Scripture and consider any appropriate action.
Take a few minutes to try to “find yourself” in the story of Israel thus far. Through this first journey through Israel’s turbulent national history (we’ll do it again in 1 & 2 Chronicles), who do you feel you should identify with? In other words, are you and the culture you belong to more like early Israel, a group of poor, marginalized, recently-freed slaves? Or are you more like Egypt or Canaan or Assyria or Babylon, enjoying the temporary benefits of being the dominant cultural power which just happens to have been established through violence and oppression?
Neither this is a dumb and irrelevant question.
More personally, as you try to learn wisdom from the story and stories of the Old Testament, which characters should you try to identify as? Do you identify more as a frustrated slave in exile, a wanderer (physically and existentially) such as Abram, the poor foreign widow in Zarephath, one of Israel’s kings or prophets, like Bathsheba being taken advantage of and unprotected, or like King David using your power to take advantage of others for your pleasure, etc.?
SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION
There will be no small group discussion this week.
CLOSING
Close your time together with the unity prayer exercise, expressing through short one-sentence prayers some of the sentiments and emotions you’ve heard shared by others in the group during discussion. Have one person begin the time by praying, “Lord, hear our _______ (gratitude, for example).” Then, one at a time, take turns sharing similarly formatted prayers.
