JUST A FAN... RIGHT?

summary: during quarantine you find yourself finding comfort in an up and coming rapper from louisville who is pretty active with his fans, a couple later you end up messaging his fan number never expecting anything from it...

a/n: sorry if this sucks, this was one of those pieces i wrote mostly for me and what i wish would happen when i message that damn number lol, anyways hope you enjoy!!

Jack Harlow had always been one of your favorite artists since the early start of quarantine when you had seen a tik tok of a baby-faced rapper promoting a song that you had not been able to get out of your head.

At first it was just his music, you loved it and literally couldn’t get enough that you would spend your quarantine listening to it and soon it followed with you diving head first into his interviews and ‘Funny Jack Harlow Moments’... you were infatuated with and it bled into Twitter.

You used your personal twitter, never fully committing to the whole stan persona because you were still kinda iffy about all that.

In late 2020 and early 2021 Jack was still so active with everything and all the indirects he would get, he was especially active with the tweets that would come from you. You quickly became one of his favorite accounts.

You were super surprised one random day when he followed you, sending you a DM with your tweet linked to it.

YOURTWITTERNAME: DUA LIPA IM TRYNA DO MORE WITH HER THAN DO A FEATURE

JackHarlow: You comin to any shows? |

YOURTWITTERNAME: maybe

JackHarlow: Daaaaaaaaamn Y/N don’t treat me like a second choice

YOURTWITTERNAME: next time to do something problematic so it’s easier to get tickets

JackHarlow: Mmmmm

YOURTWITTERNAME: not too much now sassy pants

It was the first and last time that the two of you had exchanged more than a few words or emojis from when he would reply to you on the timeline but it was also the last time that the two of you would talk before he went on tour and stopped getting so active on twitter in general.

You also slowly but surely stopped talking about Jack on Twitter since going back to school in person and just finding a social life, leaving your parasocial relationship with him in the past.

That was until a week ago when he had randomly dropped another album, and decided to promote it by releasing a number that he would be able to communicate with his fans with. It made you smile, this album was for him and the people who truly got him.

You couldn’t help it, even though you hadn’t thought about Jack in a while it still didn’t stop you from listening to his album and eventually messaging the number.

Y/N: i love the album, i know I don’t know you like that but it feels so you… proud of youuuuu

You never expected a response especially since you were so sure that his inbox was probably flooding with messages from other fans but on the other side of the U.S. Jack’s eyes had caught your name, his head flashing back to yours and his relationship from once before. His number one.

Jack: I’m so glad you love it Y/N , your opinion always gonna mean so much to me

Y/N: questions so about meeeee

Jack: Funny girl huh? You the one who stopped texting and tweeting making me think I fell off

Y/N: WAIT.. not you really texting lmao i thought this was AI

Jack: {SELFIE} Hi

Y/N: still sexy i see

Jack: Staaaaawpppp dont make me blush

Texting Jack felt so weird this time, because it felt normal�� like there was no gap between the two of you. Like the two of you had known eachother forever and had always been friends.

When you texted he would respond and sometimes he would even text you first. Things even started getting insanely personal and close when he had requested you on Instagram, something that completely took you by surprise since you had never even given him your name like that.

Y/N: did u just request me?

Jack: Was that weird?

Y/N: I’m confused…

Jack: Nothing confusing just press confirm

Y/N: ok smart ass u know what i mean

When you had finally accepted him he was quick to text you.

Jack: I’m lurking

Y/N: are you now?

Jack: You’re really fuckin pretty how come I never knew that?

Y/N: i don’t know about all that

Jack: Why is ur face not plastered everywhere

Jack: It should be everywhere

Jack: Gorgeous

You could feel your heartbeat increase and as much as you wanted to allow yourself to feel something you couldn’t because you didn’t know him enough to take it seriously. He could very well be saying this to all his fans. Because that’s what you were… a fan.

You were in a random Barnes and Noble when an unknown number started calling you, you gave your phone a confused look before declining it going back to looking at the shelves.

Unknown: Answer the phoneeee

Y/N: do i know u weird ass?

Unknown: Damn ur mean

Unknown: Answer the phoneeeeee

Your eyes widened as a live picture of Jack Harlow sent after the last text and then the phone began ringing again.

Was Jack Harlow calling you? There was just no fucking way.

“Did I win a giveaway or something?” You spoke softly into the phone and you almost dropped your coffee as a familiar voice spoke back.

“That’s how you sound? This shit is crazy…” Jack sighed.

You giggled, “I’m confused?”

“You sound just how I pictured.”

“Why are you calling me, Mr. Harlow?”

“I want to meet you Y/N…” Jack spoke lowly, “I’m gonna keep it a buck and shit if you wanna sell this story to TMZ let me know but I don’t really do this and you know people want a lot from me but I feel like you don’t and shit I may just be talking but… Why you laughing?”

You smiled, “Because you’re you and yet you're stumbling all over your words.”

“What would the world think?” You could almost hear his smile.

“Jack…”

“Y/N…”

You bit your lip confused, “Why do you want to meet me?”

It was quiet for a second before Jack spoke. “Can I be honest with you?”

“Always.”

He let out a chuckle, “I believe that I have a crush on you, Y/N.”

“And what are you gonna do about that?”

And that was how you ended up in Las Vegas after being flown out by Jack Harlow…

You had told him once that you lived in Los Angeles, you didn’t expect him to remember but he did.

Should you have been scared? A man you never met flying you to him to meet for the first time? Sure, but you weren’t because this was Jack, someone who you had been having regular conversations with daily for the past few months. The same guy who admitted to having a crush on you.

But then again this was Jack, a guy you really didn’t know if you were actually being serious. This could have been all a part of a really weird Hollywood cult initiation thing.

Jesus, everything that was coming out of your mouth sounded insane.

To say you were second guessing everything and anything was an understatement, and you were just about ready to hop on the next flight back to Los Angeles— Until you saw him, all covered up in a New Balance set as if it was doing a lot to hide his tall figure.

You smiled at him, instantly grabbing his attention making him do a light jog to you.

His smile was even prettier in person and if you took the time you could count all the freckles on his face.

“Hi.” Jack smiled at you, before pulling a bouquet of…

“Are those Hyacinths?” Those were your favorite flowers, you don’t think you ever even told him that yet there they were in a bouquet in his hand.

Jack shrugged, smiling even bigger. “Like I said I was lurking and may or may not have found through a tweet about animal crossing, which by the way I would love to visit you on your island.”

He was perfect, insanely perfect.

You grabbed them, pulling the bouquet closer to your chest. “They're gorgeous, thank you so much.”

“This is gonna sound really middle school but can I hug you?”

You laughed, before wrapping your arms around him feeling his wrap around you too. You could hear his heart beating.

You looked up at him seeing that he was already looking down at you, “It’s nice to meet you Jack.”

“Right back at you, pretty girl.”

You felt like you were floating as Jack threw his arm over your shoulder, leading you through the busy airport to where his car was waiting.

“Finally, they were just about damn ready to arrest me for parking here.” A familiar face appeared as you walked up to the car.

“Not your fault of course,” The guy winked at you, “I’m Urban.”

Jack quickly brought you closer to him, laughing. “She doesn’t care Urb, now get in the back.”

You smiled, “He doesn’t speak for me. Nice to meet you Urban, I’m Y/N.”

“I hope you chill him out, fame has gotten to his head.”

“I’m sure.” You gave Jack a look before hopping in the passenger seat.

Jack sighed as he got into the car, “I’m not sure I like what’s going on here.”

The drive back to the hotel was full of laughter and getting to know Urban as he talked all the way back. You thought he was funny and could see yourself getting along with him.

Your eyes widened as you rode the elevator up, having to tap the card and put a special code to ride up to a private floor that Jack was staying at.

“I’m not being promiscuous by the way, this penthouse has four rooms so you get your own, but if you want like your own room-room that’s cool too and I can make the call I just want you to be comfortable.”

“It’s fine,” You smiled up at Jack. “It’s perfect.”

“Like you.” Jack winked.

“And that’s my cue.” Urban groaned, “Let me know when yall are done being all cute and shit.”

“Gonna be a while, I don’t think she can.”

“Goodbye!” You could hear the elevator close leaving just you and Jack in the suite.

“I’ll show you your room, so I can put down your heavy ass bag.”

“I told you, you didn’t have to carry it.” You said as you tried grabbing the bag from him, making him pull it up out of your reach.

“Nah, nah.” He shook his head, leading you to your room, the bag still being held up high, “I just did arm day so this is something light.”

You looked at how toned his arms looked as he set down your bag on the dresser in the room he had for you.

You sat down on the bed, “Comfy.”

“Better be, shit cost a ton.” He sat down next to me, “Still not used to all this.”

“Are you excited?” You asked him, “For tomorrow? I was lurking on Twitter and I saw that a lot of your fans are coming.”

“Yeah, I love em’.” Jack smiled, “Want to put on a good show for them especially for canceling so last minute last time. I even had my manager plan a little secret missionary party for them to get to know each other tonight.”

“You’re so sweet, are you gonna make an appearance?”

He shook his head, “Got something else planned for tonight.”

“Like?”

Jack shrugged, “I don’t know, like taking a pretty girl out on a date.”

You nodded, “Hope she has a fun night… I might go visit that Jack Harlow fan party because you know I’m a fan.”

“You’re more than that to me, Y/N.” Jack shook his head, “I hope you know that.”

You wanted to believe it, you really did. But seeing as Jack had chosen a weekend where Vegas would be littered with his fans making it easy to move you into the fan category if he wanted to in case people started asking questions.

You nodded, “Okay.”

Your eyes opened slowly as you woke up from an accidental sleep, you blinked as the once bright room was covered in darkness. How long have you been asleep? How did you even fall asleep?

The date, shit.

You quickly got up, heading to the restroom that was connected to your room brushing your teeth and splashing your face with water to wake you up some more.

“She’s asleep… She got in early… No, it's only been like an hour and a half… Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes… I’m not talking to her… Enough, bye.”

You could hear him talking from the other side of the door. You waited for him to finish his conversation not wanting to interrupt anything.

Slowly, you opened the door walking out in the living room area. His back was faced to you but it didn’t take long for him to turn around, giving you a smile.

“Have a nice nap, pretty girl?”

“Why did you let me fall asleep?” You asked, a little upset that you had wasted precious time with Jack.

He stood up, walking over to you. “It’s okay you weren't even asleep for a long time. Plus that was my bad for booking you such an early flight. I would have done the same.” Jack took your hand leading you around the couch, “Hungry?”

You gave him a deep stare, “Starved.”

Being around Jack felt surreal, almost like you were in a daze.

Eating breakfast, giggling like high schoolers, and just overall getting to know one another was unlike anything you had experienced previously. You were excited about it all— Until reality came to view.

Right when the two of you were about to head out to the dinner that Jack had planned for the two of you he had gotten a call that he had to take in the other room, leaving you with your thoughts about everything that was going on and how everything would end up when you eventually would have to leave.

You frowned as Jack came back in with an annoyed look, “I’m gonna make this up to you pretty girl. I promise.”

“What happened?”

“Club called, wanted me to do an appearance tonight supposedly it was on the contract which is bullshit.” He sighed, “I gotta be there for at least two hours.”

“Two hours?”

“Look when I come back we can—”

You felt like someone had slapped you in the face, “You want me to stay here?”

Jack felt like an asshole. “Pretty girl, it’s just… At these clubs it’s a lot and people take pictures and I don’t want them to ruin this.”

Right. Of course he wouldn’t want pictures of the two of you together. Gosh, you hope your sadness and disappointment show on your face but when Jack looked at you again you could tell it did. He was looking at you as if you were a kicked puppy— like the girls used to in middle school when you wanted to hang out and they didn’t have the guts to tell you no but they weren't exactly gonna tell you yes either.

“Oh, yeah that makes sense I guess. Um…” You didn’t know what to say in a situation like this, you couldn't exactly argue the two of you were nothing. “I’m tired anyways so yeah… Have fun Jack.”

Jack shook his head, “You’re not tired and you know what fuck it. I’m my own person and if I wanna bring a girl out to something I can.”

Okay, now you were confused which was easily filled in by Jack.

“My management has this thing with image, they portray me exactly how they want me to be and if a heartthrob rapper is who they want me to be I can’t exactly say no… or I couldn’t before.” Jack sighed, “Look Y/N… talking to you these past few months on the phone, in text, and everything in between that's the realest I’ve ever felt with someone in a really long time.”

“Jack…”

“Mm-mm.” He shook his head, “I see the way you’re holding back with me and I don’t want you to. I flew you out to Miami because I needed to meet you, to see you, and I want to continue to see you because I really like you.”

“I’m nobody though, Jack. I’m just your fan.”

“And I’m obsessed that you're my fan but you're much more than that to me.” Jack smiled, “You’re Y/N, a girl who’s obsessed with Taylor Swift, and corrects people when they call Grogu ‘Baby Yoda’, you're someone who loves a cute drink even when they taste horrible, you're the only person I know that can spend hours at Barnes and Noble… You’re much more than my fan Y/N.”

You had spent so much time thinking all of this was one sided like you were the only one learning things about him but it just wasn’t true because he was listening. He was listening to it all, even the smallest details about you that you had only brought up for a second.

“That was the most romantic thing that’s ever happened to me.” You smiled.

“Not the paid for airplane ticket and expensive ass suite.” Jack smiled back at you cheekily.

You shook your head, moving closer. “I’m gonna kiss you now.”

Jack leaned down, “I’d be offended if you didn’t.”

And just like that, all the doubt and negative thoughts had washed away when his lips met yours because now you knew that it was all real. Every single feeling that you felt, every feeling that he felt… It was real.

The two of you pulled away breathless.

“I’ve been waiting to do that since you stepped off that plane, and I don’t think I’m ever waiting again.” Jack brought his hand up to cup your face, his thumb brushing over your cheek. “My pretty girl.”

First of all Ashlie and Jon did was gross, but where Jon failed at literally everything Ashlie succeeded.

When the news dropped of what happened in 2017 Jon made a fucking video of him crying like a little man child, and then pressed charges (also doxxed himself like an idiot) WHICH IS INSANE BEHAVIOR. Even in his written respone he was only making excuses.

At that time I was in very close connection with him, I was on his build team, I played multiple games with him. He would come into vc and hang out with us for several hours, you could consider us friend maybe! I wouldnt.

But I was at the very least in a lot of personal servers.

So when things dropped I knew almost all of the behind the scenes BULLSHIT that was happening. How everyone waited for it to blow over and stuck by him. (I got kicked out of servers too cause people knew i was against him but I was still told everything by friends who were still in there)

Then February happened. And so much more, much worse things got exposed. From only his end. I won't mention who was involved, out of privacy reasons and because I dont want to drag them into this. But holy shit dude everyone left him after that. It was over, his gross behavior with minors (included me now that i think about, sir why are you calling me and my friends cute we are 15-) His awful and manipulative behavior with people he finds useful, how he treats his teams

. He never credited anything, I made his goddamn Dimensions s2 designs, Eddie made the skins. Only Eddie was mentioned, once on a stream.

Eddie also made designs and skins for Rosethorn, and got credited in video no less.

Its not that hard and yet!

The main point is

He was still acting in 2020, the incident was in 2017. And he was acting like this, in late 2020. Into 2021.

I wanted him to get better. I really did, I had been hyperfixated on this group of people for years it hurt a lot.

But its been almost three years and he infact has stayed the same!

He is a grown ass man acting like a toddler on a public twitter account, what makes this man some one to respect in any sort of way.

Theres so much more shit I know about this man, that I can't fucking say because of the people involved not giving me permission too. And I respect that. Thats their story to tell.

Now ashlie on the other hand.

Ashlie made a concise apology and owned up to her actions, shit she made sure not to happen again. She went to fucking therapy, she broke off that relationship first and has made so much effort to distance herself from that and apologize everyday of her life.

She went to therapy after breaking things off, and she went again after the callout just to double fucking check she wasnt a horrible person.

She initially handled everything that happened in 2017 in private, like youre supposed to do. Not have a public twitter meltdown. And in late 2020 still handled mostly everything privately. She wrote out a full explanation and apology that is still very visible on her yt channel, not her twt her full 100k subscriber yt channel

I THINK, THATS GROWTH and she should be respected for that. She's actively changed as a person from the 20yr that made mistakes

And what's crazy is that Max and Ross still make youtube videos with her.

Max and Ross, YKNOW. The people who made sure fucking Jinbop got arrested and stomp Sky's name into the fucking ground for the shit that Sky did. I 100% trust those two to make a decision about a person in their circle when theyre doing some FUCKED SHIT.

IN FACT, THEY DID DROP ASHLIE WHEN THE ALLEGATIONS CAME OUT. SHE WAS IMMEDIATELY KICKED OUT OF EVERYTHING INVOLVING THEM

And they came back. They came back and started making new things and videos with her, Ross is an active participant in almost all of her videos.

I think that speaks wonders about her.

Don't drag her name through the ground I respect that woman and all of her endeavors in the future, she has more than made up for the fact.

Jon is still an awful person, and I dont think he will ever change. He's had more than ample time to and acts like whinny child on Twitter. Actively tries to pull nostalgia bait on his dying yt channel and mocks his ex "friends'" work. I want him gone from the youtube sphere and to get an actual life.

ANNUAL WRITING SELF EVALUATION 2023

List of works published this year:

Wanted: Dog Walker // Louis needs a dog walker. / Harry answers the ad. A Social Construct // Five times Harry and Louis try to lose their virginity and one time they finally do.

Tongue Tied // Louis’ new bestie placed a hand on his shoulder; he turned with a sway and looked into his blue eyes. ”What do you wish?” / The world spun for a moment, and Louis shrugged. It was easy. The only thing he wanted. “I wish that I could tell Harry that I love him, instead of getting all tongue tied and chickening out.” / The Irishman winked. “You never know, your wish may just come true.” / “From your lips to God’s ears, mate.” He gave the man a hug. “I gotta go before my Uber leaves me.” / He stumbled to the door, and that was the last thing he remembered from the night. ‘tis the damn season // Harry returns to her small hometown over the holiday season and starts to think about the road not taken.

Work you are most proud of (and why): ‘tis the damn season because I have always said that there was absolutely no way I could write an advent fic day by day. And yet, when Nov 30th came around and I only had two chapters, my fomo won over my fear of failure and I thought I’d give it a try, because the worst that would happen is that I wouldn’t finish it, which would’ve been fine! But then with the help of everyone who read along, I actually did it!

A favorite excerpt of your writing: unlike most years, when I quickly scrolled through my works, nothing specific jumped out, so I’ll just say that I really liked how ch 6 rolled into ch 7 in ‘tis the damn season!

Share or describe a favorite review you received: literally every single one.

A time when writing was really, really hard: oh boy. Okay. so if you go back and read my 2022 recap, and 2021, you’ll see that writing has consistently been hard for me for a few years. So, this year I told myself not to worry about it, that I could not write a single thing and not feel bad about it. I didn’t do a ton of writing this year, but having the internal pressure off sure helped. Even though I really miss the way it used to be.

A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: I’ll say Zayn in ‘tis the damn season, because I didn’t have a role for her when I started, and I really liked her as minor threat slash Louis’ bff and sometimes hookup. I want someone to write a story in her pov. lmaoooo How did you grow as a writer this year: I really tried to get rid of my perfectionist tendencies and tried to write without putting pressure on myself.

How do you hope to grow next year: i dont even know, tbh. I’ll be very happy if I match my 2023 fic count.

Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): I adore everything that @disgruntledkittenface put out this year. The way she keeps pushing herself is really inspiring.

Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: ummm, I guess the ‘moving back home thing’... idk. Nothing i wrote this year hit particularly close to home.

Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: i love you. please keep going!

Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: what I would give to be able to write the next installment of Swallow My Words. If u ask me how many albums taylor has released since 2019 i'd tell you 6. Simple fact. 6 in 4 years. But then i delve deeper and i go oh bc thats six albums in four years. That's as many albums as she released under big machine but in almost a third of the time! Six albums in 11 years versus 6 in 4 years. She hasn't gone a year without releasing an album since the gap between rep and lover (since she was forced to leave big machine). She released two albums in both 2020 and 2021. One that was 30 songs long! I'd have to use a calculator to figure out how many songs she released in just those two years. In between rerecording her old albums, she went and wrote 21 new songs in just a couple weeks! I dont know how much of her creativity and desire was held back by her contract and relationship with big machine just as much as i cant actually know how much joe helps her stay creative and wanting to create music, but i can imagine. I can imagine craving love and not being able to find it in the midst of unfathomable chaos and fame can be horrible to think about, battling anxiety anx depression and an eating disorder and your mom's health. But do we even think about how the masters situation held her back too? How, with absolutely no doubt in my mind, that when she was creating rep she was constantly reminded that she has to make this album under big machine, and they're never going to let her have her masters. She had to make it anyway, knowing she wouldn't own it. And she still poured her heart into it, bc she always does, and the songs are still hers, but not hers wholly, and she deserves to have them be hers wholly. Im rambling so much but its just. Six albums in four years. And so many of us are extremely reasonably thinking we may get another before she does a national tour. Bc she loves making music so much and her life is now telling her to do what she loves, no matter what. And i for sure as fuck will be here to listen to it

so i actually dont rly know where im going with this fic but it's set in the weeks and months following sweet revenge, based on an idea a friend of mine and i talked about many years ago of hutch getting sick while starsky is recovering. i'm sure it's been done to death haha but i'm a sucker for this shit.

“The world ain’t gonna end because you’re sick for a week, Hutchinson. Not if you’re sick for two weeks, a month.”

“You sure?” Hutch rasps. If he could sound flippant, he would, but he sounds deadly serious.

He also sounds awful, and Starsky tells him so, to his face, bluntly. “You look like crap, and you sound like crap. The world can take it.”

“I’m sorry,” says Hutch. “I didn’t mean to – ” When he tries to sit, Starsky pushes him back down. He’s grateful that Hutch doesn’t resist too much – if it came to a contest of strength, Hutch would still win, even as sick as he is. Starsky’s not up to wrestling, but Hutch has seen enough in the last few months to know the cardinal rule of this game: no engagement Starsky can't match.

There's a lil snippet! The fic focuses on Hutch's feelings of responsibility, and his fears of failure and inadequacy, and Starsky's feelings of frustration and exasperation - mostly good-natured (Hutch is silly).

When he wakes, he’s not sure that he has. There’s blue sky and it’s fuzzy at the edges. His head throbs and he can feel his heart beating, fast and fevered, in every part of him. There are black spots dancing in his vision, and he blinks hard to try and clear them away, but instead they come into clearer focus. They’re buzzards, far off, high in the warm air-currents. idek what to say abt this, I wrote it I think winter 2021 and I keep trying to find the inspiration to finish it. it's rly just a thinly veiled excuse for me to write in my fave theme - characters who for whatever reason (in hutch's case dehydration and pain) experience a disruption or abstraction (permanent or temporary) in their normal thought patterns, which creates a perfect crucible to explore a scene on a deeper level through a character's distorted viewpoint. smth about looking at something sideways to see it more clearly - when a character is somehow in an altered state it can be easier to tease out interesting threads from them

but anyway i loveeeee the radio thing that hutch is listening to as he's driving at the beginning it rly stuck w me and i wanted to find a way to have it stick in hutch's mind too even if he's not paying attention to it consciously

What are some of your headcanons that have changed the most over the years? :)

Hii whisp! Seeing your blog name in my notifs puts a smile on my face :’) thank you for popping into my inbox ♡

This is kind of a non-answer, but I changed a lot in the few years I’ve had this blog (since August 2021), and my thoughts on these fictional characters are heavily impacted by what I remember about their behaviour in canon and the parallels that I can draw between the character and others from experience, real or fictional. It also definitely depends on my mood, because I know that I tend to dig for feel-good takes, especially with reqs that lean towards fluff or smut. Lately, I’ve been meaning to view characters through a less light-hearted lens and find a new balance between accuracy of characterization (as accurate as fanfiction can get, anyway), digging for what’s interesting, and penning something that would please the crowd (I notice what is common with fics in popular fandoms, and I try to avoid being too generic).

To try to actually address your question, here are some solid examples of my writing I’ve reread months/years later (I generally dislike rereading my past works), disagree with, and some new opinions:

Honestly I want to rethink this whole entire petname post because Spanner is actually boring and would only call his SO ‘babe’, Reborn is most definitely the one using sappy nicknames, and Kyoko is a confirmed nickname user so I just feel straight up incorrect for that..

I used to say that Yamamoto was strictly a dom because he’s a secret control freak, but it just doesn’t check out/isn’t interesting enough for me to agree with now. He can be babygirl, as a treat. The opinions that fluctuate the most for me in general are the ones relating to romance and sexuality.

I disagree with how trigger-happy I was with the trope of matching wallpapers/trinkets with SO’s because I was a sick romantic back then and I will forever personally love matching anything with anyone.

I don’t particular disagree with these takes, but I wish the delivery of Varia kinks was better orz

I’m no longer sure the Varia would even give an SO enough grace to dote on them when they’re cramping, but I love fanon fluff too much to deny us crampy mfs the joys of being domestic with those absolutely incapable of softness.

And I won’t even mention the few times I wrote smut in prose form bc there is nothing I am less proud of I WONT DELETE THE POSTS BUT I PRETEND THEY DONT EXIST.

on a more positive note, I just fixed the link for my soft lovey dovey lil mammon headcanons and I would die for them so I’m happy with what 2022 ghostie had to say :>

I appreciate that she is a very resentful character. Zoe not wanting to view Connor as a good person because she was wronged feels so cool to me. She isn’t wrong, Connor likely abused her and she shouldn’t have to miss him because of societal expectations. Love her. Best girl.

Least Favorite Thing About Them

I think Zoe (especially in fannon) is played a bit too dumb. Given her reactions to Evan in early act one I don’t think she would ever actually fall for Evan. I really don’t like the you made my brother a good person now kiss me thing she has going on. I feel like she wouldn’t do that if she was a real person. I know she’s like 16 but…she clearly didn’t like Evan up until the end of YWBF. She rejected him after IICTH, she didn’t sing in Disappear, and I know she’s supposed to have her moment of acceptance that Connor “was a good person” in YWBF but it feels kind of forced. She’s smarter than to believe the lies imo and the fandom really ran with the idea of her being easily manipulated for quite a while

They shouldn’t have written out Zoe’s best friend character that was in the original draft of the show. Yes this is because the best friend was named Becca. But also Zoe needed a teen to bounce off of that wasn’t Evan because she never interacts with Alana or Jared. She’s isolated for the most part and would have been a stronger character if she had a friend in her corner. Her only “friend” we see in the show is her mom

(Friendly reminder that Zoe has a friend named Bea in the book (I think that’s the name it’s been a hot minute since I read the book—either way she has an actual friend with a name) and I hc them as enby)

Okay I know she can already drive in all forms of canon media but drivers license feels like something she would listen to on loop after breaking up with Evan

I would say traitor instead of drivers license but Zoe knows that Evan didn’t originally have ill intent nor did he ever cheat on her so just a sad song to cry along to because she used to drive him around feels right.

Complaints about fan service in Helluva Boss

Somebody reblogged a post of mine, adding that they think Stolas and Blitzo will end up together only because of the shipping. Using helluva boss critical hashtags and all. And I've seen more people complain about fan service in Helluva Boss. Mostly about stolitz, but about other stuff as well.

When an episode comes out, it has already been planned and written months ago.

They already started writing for season 2 before episode 2: loo loo land came out.

The "House of Asmodeus" animatic was made in 2020, the actual episode came out in October 2021.

They already finished the recording/voice acting for the next season months ago and season 1 isnt even finished yet. Meaning the end of season 2 was already determined months ago too.

Viv even talked about that she already had ideas for Blitzos character arc after multiple seasons. She said that before loo loo land came out. And ofcourse ideas change, but still.

A lot of fans and critics seem to think that these episodes are made one at the time. (That they only started working on ep 2 after ep 1 was released for example). But that's not how animation works. All the writing and voice acting is done beforehand. And while one episode in the storyboard phase, another is in the animation phase and another is in the cleanup phase, etc. all at the same time.

Everything we see has already been planned long ago, without being influenced by the fans. The majority of the things that happen, happen because the writers want them to, NOT because of the fandom.

It seems like fan service, because there is so much time in between the releases of these episodes. Enough time for the fans to express what they want, regardless if that actually happens or not. Because of that, if it does happen, it looks as if the fans had some influence. Even when they don't.

The creators even talked about future episodes having "accidental fan service". "Accidental" being a key word here. (I'm fairly sure they were talking about the kiss scene in episode 6, but dont quote me on that). Viv and Brandon wrote something a long time ago, before the show had a proper fanbase. But it so happened to be exactly what most fans wanted, so it looks like fan service.

It does make sense to be wary of fan service in a possible season 3 however. Now that the show properly established itself and the fandom has wants and expectations. If they start writing new stuff for season 3 now, it might be influenced by the fans a bit, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I dont usually like ranting in fandom spaces, because fandom should be a hobby. You know....for fun. So if you disagree with my take, that's fine.

Plotting is hard. I struggle to not make things drag on and get to boring, especially in the middle. Fluid, pretty prose also doesn't come naturally to me, so I have to use all my braincells to make sure my shit is readable.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

If you speak more than one language, do what you want. If you're a dumb American like me who can only speak English and maybe 2% Spanish, get someone who is fluent to double-check your stuff.

"Nothing New"[a] is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift featuring American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. Swift wrote the song in March 2012 and produced it with Aaron Dessner for her second re-recorded studio album, Red (Taylor's Version), which was released in 2021 through Republic Records.

A guitar-led folk and alternative rock song, "Nothing New" is about anxieties over romance and growing up. Music criticsinterpreted the song as Swift's message about the music industry's treatment of female musicians, and lauded the track for its production, songwriting, and the vocal chemistry between Swift and Bridgers. Dianna fans of Phoebe Bridger. Which it is simultaneously make Taylor also promote Phoebe Bridger musics. We dont know whether Dianna got to SNL for Phoebe Bridger or Taylor Swift, or both. However, for sure VIP ticket access need come from the close person appointed by the performers on SNL.

It was written in 2012, when Taylor and Dianna were so close like pants on hip. The lyrics tell all about Dianna on Taylor's 22 song's. And why she release the song on 2021 if they are in bad terms ?Retell sweet disposition about someone while you in bad term with them is less likely. 3. How would you describe your writing style?

all over the place tbh!!!!!! i feel like i can very much be a writing style chameleon based on what the vibe of a piece needs, but i def gravitate to either silly goofy writing with lots of unnecessary asides (like lola fic or my reddie fake married disaster fic) OR like. insane ominous overly verbose dread hours (like o&t<3)

9. Thoughts on cliffhangers.

harrowing!!!!! what if the author never updates again???? i dont ever post chapter fics until ive finished or almost finished the entire thing for this reason, i dont want anyone to hurt the way ive been hurt

“Ah, it’s rather smoky—Kristen, did you make cheese crackers? Is that why you—” He cuts himself off, looking genuinely touched at the idea that Kristen would go out of her way to make him his favourite snack, just the way he likes it (burnt).

She’s not sure how she feels about crushing the hopes of a man who’s had his hopes crushed so many times before, so she decides to just rip off the bandaid. “No, your kitchen’s on fire.”

Gilear’s eyes widen, and he takes one more step out of the hallway to where he can see the kitchen, the yells, “Ahhhh! My kitchen is on fire!”

“Great listening skills,” Riz mutters under his breath.

21. Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what’s your secret?

yeah for the most part i can! ive been writing fic for 8 years now (omg) so ive kinda just developed a sense for how long a particular idea will take me. i think it helps a lot that im a pretty heavy outliner, and i typically dont start writing something unless ive got most of the plot figured out

but whenever im wrong about a wc its always that i end up being way over. i have cant shut up disease and its terminal

22. What is it about watching the same two idiots falling in love over and over again?

djkglhbsdlj;ghsdfg woowwww i wonder what ship that eyes emoji is for sav!!!! tbh idk if i have a solid answer for this question! sometimes a dynamic just Grips you and youre like holy shit i have to read and think about these people interacting for the next 5-10 business days straight. when i figure it out ill let you know

28. Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?

yes! i think you should write whatever makes you happy to write because that will make you love writing more, which will make you write more, which will make you be a better writer. early 2021 i decided i wanted to write more stupid goofy shit and i had SUCH a blast writing it it made me wanna write more stupid goofy shit and i had so much fun writing stupid goofy shit i stopped caring about what would get the most hits/kudos/attention/whatever

also i think the secret to not giving a shit is having friends that are also writers. all my closest friends in fandom have been writers and when u can have people to go to who will Get and celebrate your work no matter what? game changer!!!!! opens up a whole world of possibilities like, "hey, what if i wrote this niche rarepair fic with my friend but its in second person and also the ship only has like 2 fics in their tag and also what if we wrote it in one night?" and then u have SO much doing it and dont even bother to check stats bc u already feel so fulfilled for having created it!!!! and also u and ur friend are so much closer now for it!!!
