will do everything in his power to make sure youre happy and content, and will do everything to cheer you up when you switch over to your sad side

takes you to wherever it is that he 'sleeps' when you get overwhelmed by stuff and keeps you there until both of you are sure that youll be okay and your blues are long gone

you and him easily match energies, sometimes he will even try to one up you with using fancy intricate words

POMNI:

writing pomnis part first but oh funny is it that pomni and ena have the same VA

absolutely loves you, but she is so so worried about stressing you out and switching to your 'sad form', tries to (often times unsuccessfully) cheer you up

honestly you both need a break, things in the circus are hectic and insane, and considering pomni just got here she is going to need your help to get used to things

not much to be said since i think pomni is another character i struggle to write

JAX:

initially teases you for how fast you switch up, its almost like gangle being more upbeat with her comedy mask and more sad when its broken

tones it down a little when you explain you cant really control it whereas gangles case is just her being more confident with the comedy mask (at least thats my hc)

sometimes give you weird looks when you use an unnecessarily long set of fancy words to describe something mundane

bro is fighting the urge to mimic it

surprisingly does the kind thing, he takes you off to the side when something stresses you out so you can have a minute to compose yourself

RAGATHA:

optimistic sweetheart meets ray of sunshine, you two are an unstoppable force of good and kind of rub off on some of the others

similar to jax when you get stressed out or upset about something, usually when its an in house adventure, she sweeps you to the side and helps calm you down. she probably knows some breathing techniques, i think

i think these asks were sent by different people but they're pretty related + a lot of my advice is the same! so i'll answer these together under the cut (it's so long oh gosh)

ok first of all i'm very flattered that people are asking me for art advice but i'm really not the most equipped person to ask TTOTT I've never been deliberately studious with my art so I feel bad offering advice when I've mostly gotten by with just drawing fanart and ocs a lot... my rate of improvement has therefore been slow, but I've still had an enjoyable learning experience so perhaps from that angle my input may help! i'll mainly refer you to external resources that have helped me

For anatomy + drawing humans:

1) I know I'm not diligent enough to sit down and study muscles, so instead I make it more enjoyable by drawing my favorite characters in a pose that targets the muscles I want to practice! (i default to drawing ppl naked because of this lol) This isn't the most efficient, but it serves as good motivation to get practice in. (honestly a lot of my general art advice has the undercurrent of becoming so obsessed with characters to drive your motivation to draw even when artblocked/ struggling with doubts!)

2) I want to refer you to Sinix's Anatomy playlist! Although Sinix focuses more on digital painting, he gives simplified anatomy breakdowns that include how muscles change shape under different movements/poses, which is crucial for natural human posing. the static anatomy diagrams from Google don't really help for that

3) What's just as important as anatomy is gestures! (especially important if you're used to drawing non-human objects I think!) Making figures look like they have flow to them will sell the "naturalness"(?) to your anatomy. If you have in person life drawing sessions accessible near you I'd recommend trying those out, or if you prefer trying it digitally there's this website!

This helps you not only get a sense of human proportions, but also natural posing! I'd limit the time taken to draw the poses from like 10 seconds to 1 minute(?) for quick gestures, and maybe 1 minute to 5mins(for now!! typically they go much longer) to study human proportions. I'd say don't spend a lot of time on them, repetition is more important!

4) I've also picked up on useful anatomy tidbits from artists online! Looking at how practiced/ professional artists stylize a body helps me focus on what the essential details are to convey a particular form (looking up "human muscles" and being hit with anatomy diagrams full of all the smallest details can be overwhelming! what do you even focus on?! so these educated simplifications really help me) Like Emilio Dekure's work! Look how simplified these figures are, and yet contain all the essential information to convey the sense of accurate form (even though it's highly exaggerated!)

(shamefully admits I've never studied from actual anatomy books so I can't recommend anything in that sense TTOTT)

For general improvement:

1) I highly recommend Sinix's Design Theory playlist and Paintover Pals! (+ his channel in general) You don't have to put them immediately into practice, but I think these are good fundamental lessons to just listen to and have them in the back of your mind to revisit another day. Plus these videos are just fun and very approachable! Design theory fundamentals are essential to creating appeal and directing a viewer's attention, and critiquing others' work/ seeing his suggestions are a good way to practice noticing areas of improvement+ solutions yourself!

2) If you prefer a more formal teaching resource, the Drawabox YouTube course covers all the basic fundamentals of drawing in short lessons. But honestly if I were starting out, this would be a little intimidating for me (and even now it still is! I haven't done all of them) But even if you don't watch them, the titles should give you an idea of the basic concepts that are valuable to pick up. I think it would be nice to keep in mind and revisit once in a while as you learn!

(One lesson I do encourage you to watch is the line control one! A confident continuous line conveys motion and flow much better compared to discontinuous frayed lines which I think is good to practice early by drawing from the wrist and shoulder)

3) As a universal piece of advice: Please please please use references! Use a reference for literally everything, observing is how we learn! You'll find that a lot of things you thought you knew what they looked like are inaccurate by memory alone. Also, trace! This is solely for your practice, tracing then freehanding has helped me grasp proportions when I was struggling! (of course don't post these online if you traced from art)

I've found that being able to compile references into easy to access boards has been very helpful in encouraging me to use references more. For PC, I think they use PureRef (free/pay what you want), and for iPad I use VizRef. VizRef is a one time purchase (which was definitely worth the $3.99 USD price imo)

4) On that note, try building up the habit to observe from media + real life and make purposeful comments about what you see! Like hey, when I bend my knee, the muscles/fat in my thighs and calves bulge outwards, I should draw that next time. Purposeful observation carries over to your overall visual library, and it's a little thing that adds up over time

5) For motivation, get into media you really enjoy, or make your own characters! The way I started art more seriously was by drawing fanart + OCs from anime that I liked ^^ For OCs it really encourages you to draw more because you're the primary creator of their art! Also you gotta see a lot of good art to make good art! Watching visually appealing media (like animation with appealing stylization/simplification) can passively help you learn just by observation.

ok wow I could go on but this is already a lot of information TTOTT my main aim for this reply is basically: don't let anything discourage you from learning to draw!! drawing is so fun and brings me a lot of joy ^^ practicing often will of course help you improve, and the way to incentivize that is by having fun with it! i hope this could help!💞

Random question! Do you have a favourite moment in the book?

First of all, thank you so much!! oh my gosh that is so kind TToTT I'm really happy you liked them!! The pilgrims all being dumb together is my favorite thing hhaha As to your question, oh man, absolutely. Its more a bunch of moments all from one chapter. My favorite chapter of the book goes something like this: And I've said this before but should say again, it has been several years since I read the novel cover to cover, so I may not remember all the details just right, but as I recall it, my favorite chapter is the one immediately following the story of the White Bone Devil, which is one of the most famous chapters. But to me, the story of the White Bone Devil is nothing compared to their ridiculous conflict with Lord Yellow Robe, Kui Mulang.

After Monkey is banished by Tripitaka, he goes back to Mt Huaguo, leaving Pigsy and Sandy to look after the priest. Which goes about as well as you'd think. Pigsy says he'll go find food, then just takes a nap, Sandy I think goes looking for him, and when they both don't come back for a while, Tripitaka goes looking for them and ends up walking DIRECTLY into this demon's lair.

When Sandy and Pigsy learn of the priest's capture, they attempt to stage a rescue. During the middle of the fight, Pigsy thinks they're going to lose so tells Sandy to cover him, he has to go take as shit IMMEDIATELY. Runs into the bushes, and escapes all the while Sandy is captured and yelling at him for being a fat, useless, coward (rude.. but in this case very true lol)

Pigsy, now alone and unsure what to do, flies to Mt Huaguo to find Monkey and ask him to come back and save everyone. He tells him everything that's happened, and that Trip has been captured and will surely die if he doesn't help. Even after hearing all that, Monkey refuses. He's still upset that Trip dismissed him and thinks dying and reincarnating ought to teach the brat a lesson! Pigsy gives up at first, skulking off and mumbling to himself about what a flea-ridden bastard Monkey is... this is overheard by some of Monkey's minions who deliver the news to the king himself. Monkey orders Pigsy to be brought back for execution LOL Thinking on his feet, Pigsy tries to redirect Monkey's ire, and thinks one of my favorite lines in the novel. "A warrior is more likely to answer a challenge than an invitation".

He tells Monkey that it wasn't him... This demon, Lord Yellow Robe, he's the one who called Monkey a weak, pathetic, cowardly fool.

And this makes Monkey ENRAGED

Monkey springs into action, flying to confront this demon. Screaming about all the nasty things this demon said about him while Lord Yellow Robe has no idea who the hell this monkey is or why he's so pissed off.

And boy, does Monkey go HARD on this guy. After he beats him up and along with a bunch of his soldiers, the demon retreats into his lair and Monkey is left out. He can't find a way to get to him, so instead takes out his anger on Kui Mulang's wounded but still living soldiers, killing them all. He meets back up with Pigsy and Sandy and tells them his brilliant idea to draw the demon back out.

By taking his half-human children and killing them outside the gates, hoping that will enrage their father enough to come back out. Even his companions think he's malding a little hard

This has gone on awhile so to cut the rest short, Monkey is eventually "victorious". I think I recall a subplot about Trip being turned into a tiger too, and there was this captured princess subplot too.

But this is my fave chapter lol. Basically "Monkey Accidentally Saves The Day By Avenging An Imagined Insult To Himself"

Peak Monkey behavior, absolute mad lad, everyone is an idiot. Its just a mess and I love it.

owl house opinion under the cut! :D

I'd say if you like cartoons give it a go, but do know that the first four episodes of the show is NOT representative of what the whole show turns into. Season 2 is ABSOLUTELY worth it!

I look at early season 1 sometimes and just ??? is this the same show?

I'd say the first episodes are necessary to watch for knowing how Luz (the main character) winds up in the demon realm and why she chooses to be there. And episode two just punches home the WINK-WONK-THEMES that doesn't get relevant until later half of season 1. It's a flonky set-up but given that the creators were not given much trust by disney I kinda forgive it.

But honestly?? Season 1 is FUN, like I do actually really enjoy the slice of life episodes too - and they are important for character build-up. They just feel unimportant because the show actually gives the space to side characters to grow - But they're not fillers! There's a lot of hints, retroactively, to find in those episodes.

Once you cross over past half of season 1, that's when the show picks itself up. And it's SO worth it.

This is due to Disney trying to figure out what the owl house should've been, instead of just letting Dana (the creator) do what she intended from the start. Disney were very wary of her ideas at first, but once they start popping up you get invested.

Do also know that the season 3 was cut off and reduced to three episodes, one hour each. But they are great, especially the first and last episodes. The middle one is OKAY in my opinion but.. Yes. If you are looking for something fun to watch with a strong core for character focused dramas - go forth!

Medea: *Knocks* 

T. D'Arby: *Inside* Ocupado~

Medea: Ok. *Goes to the second one next door and knocks*....*No answer, it's free, and goes inside, locking the door to make sure no one gets inside*....Alright, Cyndi, *takes her hand out of her pocket* coast is clear.

Cyndi: *Pops her head out of Medea's pocket* Mew~

Medea: *Turns on the bath and checks the temperature* You've must've lived in the streets for so long.

Cyndi: Mew~

Medea: *Turns it off so it's at a descent height* Alright, here you go.

Hi! Hope you're doing well. I really like the way your art looks, and wanted to ask if you have any advice on how to stop the endless ctrl+Zing that happens when you're doing lineart? (Was gonna post a gif showing it but it won't let me send links in asks) -- Have a good one o/

Hi! first of all, thank you for liking my art!💞 to be honest i undo and erase my lines Very Often… but i tried my best to give an answer! my reply is going to be pretty long so i'll put it under a page break

it's pretty old, but here's a process video of me struggling for comparison lol (i assume the lineart you were talking about was my persona fanart!)

My process sort of feels like sculpting out the lines I want from my sketch. I just work on that same layer and refine the lines by erasing away parts I don’t like or redrawing it (hence all the undoing). Lineart on its own layer sometimes ends up looking a little weird for me, since I may lose a lot of the loose energy from the sketch.

In my experience, when I undo lines often it’s a sign that I’m not really confident in my line quality which is the real cause of the issue. The lines that I’m most satisfied with are those that are bold (one continuous line without fraying), have varied line weight, and create interesting shapes with sharp angles that show the object’s 3D form. To do this I make lines heavier when they’re in shadow and thinner where light is hitting the form or when two forms are touching. I sometimes go over the same line multiple times to give it weight (since my favourite brushes usually don’t change size with pressure).

I’d say making sure your lines are confident + stable, and varying your line weight by knowing where to make a line thicker/thinner is the most important part of line quality! Then knowing where to place the lines by going slowly and making deliberate choices. (People practice this by only drawing with pen on paper, which makes sure every line you place is done with intent and if you do make a mistake, to work with it and adapt. Honestly I should do it more often too) You can also try drawing from the elbow or arm to make your lines really stable, or use a stabilizer on your brush. Oh and this is a pretty general tip but use references!! They're so helpful for visualizing the end goal for the drawing and you can easily spot any errors. They really make you more confident!

(People that grow with high emotions and become more monstrous the bigger they get) Or someone getting gradually bigger without even noticing until they're really tall? Took me a while to answer this, but I'm sorry I'm the woooorrst person to ask this bc I'm a heathen and hardly ever read any fics at all! TToTT I just am terrible with reading in general. Used to do a lot in school bc it was required, but once I had a choice I just... have hardly done it since. Even fun stuff. I even skim comics, I'm so bad. ADHD will do that to a person tho I guess. I'm not sure if I could recommend anything like it, but I know it's out there. Searching for things nowadays is just so much harder and unhelpful unfortunately, so I'm sorry... But I'm glad you enjoy my stuff! I draw, but I do plan to make at least some of them into full stories one day. KaiJug I want to pitch as an animated series eventually. A lot of my older stuff also has those themes but they're just random comics and art I've posted over the years. Sorry for this random commentary 😅 but Wen would totally make Huntsman's ego go high just because of her curiosity and spoil praises this girl wouldn't notice for being so naive

But I like to think she can do what Sandy did with him on the serie and making him show his soft side, like- they both can be on a serious business on other places but crossing then each other makes the softie moments, Wen isn't a Yan more like the darling (or reader) of the story

Doing pomni first since I have a few ideas for her. Personally i cant see her having kids, or at least, I cant see her having kids through traditional means. Actually, I got struck with the idea of "what if she had to adopt a family member thanks to a tragedy"

I think that would fuel pomnis attempts to try to escape the digital world. I mean she was already looking in every book and cranny and trying to find clues... but this drives her to a near obsession. Maybe even to her own undoing, if you want it to be extra angsty

RAGATHA:

For ragatha I'm a little stumped. Not because I dont have any ideas, but because I dont have any unique ideas for her. Because I think she would react similarly to pomni... but perhaps, ragatha manages to keep a decent hold of her wits? She's been here for a while, and has probably had more than enough time to search the place top to bottom. No, if anything takes her down it's her trying to force herself to remember more. She only remembers enough to know that she she has a family of her own in the real world, as well as a partner... makes her more determined to leave, as opposed to her in the pilot where she, like the others, accepted her fate

contests kinda sorta came back in kalos as showcases but they are inferior in every possible way they suck SO bad. contests did not ever truly come back the way they used to be

kalos is so fucking weird. when its good it's REALLY REALLY GOOD but overall it's one of the worst legs of the anime. which is so fucking weird because it came before sun and moon which is easily the best fucking leg of the whole anime ever no contest

Hello! Thank you for your kind words :) I’d say my writing style’s honestly mostly been influenced by other fic writers. I read @wafflebloggies Blue Sky when I was twelve and it’s probably been my biggest inspiration and influence!

Other than that, I’d say Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson has had my brain in a chokehold since I was in middle school.

I prommy I’m planning to update it!!! Slow, Gentle Strokes is going to be updated too! It’ll probably be like…… a month or so before I continue writing.

I know I’m disappointing a lot of people with how slowly I’m writing and I’m so sorry TToTT life has just been really, really tough these past few months and I haven’t had the energy to write or even draw :(

Thank you! It does get a little tiring to keep answering what is basically the same set of questions, but I try to keep in mind that not everyone is like, an active reader of my blog so they may not have seen my posts before. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt that they're in good faith, which doesn't always work out super well for me, but I don't want to come out swinging if someone is genuinely just trying to understand my point of view. Plus all the bad faith ones are really doing is reinforcing that I have many, many points to make and as far as I've seen, they often do not.

I will continue to be revival truther until the day canon gives us what we want or shoots me down directly. But like honestly, the evidence is right there unless you straight up choose to ignore it, so I have a fair amount of confidence in which outcome is more likely there.
