Crazy theory, but since I don't really read them, I don't know if it's ever been mentioned before.
I've already talked about this urge to discover the demon of death. So much so that fans see them in every new character introduced.
We know that Pochita punctuates both the birth and death of demons with his chainsaws.
Tumblr media
I've always been surprised by the way Pochita calmly took hold of Makima, allowing Denji to knowingly save her by recommending that he give her love
Just as I'm surprised by Fami's interest in separating Chainsaw Man just as Yoru is stubbornly intent on revenge
How can these three horsemen of the apocalypse have so much interest and connection with a single demon?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We already know that Fujimoto has opted for the metaphorical, choosing the instrument designed for childbirth: the chainsaw, as the keystone of his story.
Chainsaw Man is intrinsically linked to birth and death
Denji's rebirth alone is linked to death having been cut up as well as Pochita?
Demons are born out of fear of one thing, so I know it might be strange that Pochita, representing chainsaws, represents death and isn't the chainsaw demon.
But two things: firstly, the impostor is actually the real chainsaw demon.
Fujimoto likes to undo our first impressions, so I find it absolutely INCREDIBLE that Denji should be the impostor from the start, the false Chainsaw Man in a part 2 that focuses on identity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secondly, how can simple chainsaws have so much power? I mean, sure, they're scary, but how can they have so much power as to be able to wipe out demons? Why should it be the chainsaw demon who's capable of this, and death remains crouched in the shadows?
This would also explain his promiscuity with the other Knights of the Apocalypse.
The demon of control wanted to play with Pochita - death was the only thing she couldn't totally control, the only thing she aspired to be on an equal footing with.
If Pochita understood her so well, it was as the fourth knight of the apocalypse. If Makima considered him her equal, it was because she couldn't control a demon she knew to be of her own rank. The logic follows with Nayuta.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The demon of war doesn't accept death, it accepts to spread it through conflicts and weapons of mass murder, but a general doesn't accept that death can touch him too. To spread death represents victory, to be touched by it a defeat that demands vengeance.
Tumblr media
Famine works hand in hand with death, and is feared because suffering and death are the end result of not being able to eat. She's the one with the clearest goal at the moment: to save humanity. She doesn't hesitate to recruit her fellow Apocalypse members, whether it's proposing it to Nayuta, trying to recruit Asa and Yoru, or splitting Chainsaw Man in two to work with the pure state of the death demon.
Tumblr media
The public hunters' aim is also to protect mankind from Nostradamus' prophecy, but by paralyzing death's actions as much as possible. They exploit Denji's flaws and desire to be normal to the full, threatening those around him. While the church, represented by Fami, titillates Denji's heroic side, his abnormalities, they want death to act.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would also explain why everyone close to Denji is disappearing.
All the signs are pointing to Asa's imminent atrocity.
Wouldn't it be incredible to think that it's because death is in Denji's belly ?
Everything would then make sense: it's normal for Denji's development to stagnate, and for him to go through so many existential crises.
He doesn't know his own identity
Tumblr media
What's more, it doesn't contradict my most meta theories: Fujimoto places himself in the work through Denji (cf. chapter 133), just as he responds directly to his fans (chapters 136 and 137).
We're all hating him, seeing all our favorite characters meet unfortunate deaths
It would all make sense if the manga we were holding in our hands, "Chainsaw Man", actually referred directly to death right from the start.
It would all make sense if we saw Part 1 as Denji's introduction to the ranks of hunters governed by an early death.
It would make sense for Aki's love for him to be a metaphor for accepting death, in the continuity of mourning.
It would make sense for Power to be reassured by Death when traumatized by the demon of darkness: she died twice for love, and the total disappearance of body and spirit allows us to escape the darkness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know if this theory holds, but let's agree...
It's poetic

Whats the deal with the death devil? (YOSHIDA REAL?)
I made this fucking 'joke' back when 146 came out and I keep fucking thing about it cause its so fucking funny and I can one piece this theory into making sense hang on
Tumblr media
I went ahead and made this chart to show the feelings towards the death devil. Both Makima and Fami wants the Death Devil dead however its unknown if they do that out of any animosity as their motives seem to be saving humanity from death. Yoru doesn't give a shit and Nayuta is in the same boat as Fami except she has no hatred towards DD. So that leads to the question, What did DD do to make them that mad? Here are the options based on what we know; 1. They don't hate DD at all they just want her to stay in hell because theoretically her presence on earth would mean the extinction of all life. 2. They HATE DD because she did something in the past that REALLY pissed them off. 3. Its a misunderstanding 4. Something else. Will the arrival of the Death Devil cause all extinction of life? (By Extension, Is She evil?) Using what we know of the other 3 Horsemen its a fair assumption to make that DD isn't pure evil or a natural disaster. For the most powerful devil to be a blank evil slate, It would be kind of boring. Even if it's something like the Darkness Devil, We've seen it happen before. We know that Primal Fears are weird and different as well because Darkness and Falling is completely different from each other. Given that I doubt DD's goal is to cause the extinction of all life, Especially because without humans there would be no fear, Thus there would be no devils.
Do they HATE the Death Devil? I think this one can be ruled out given the information we currently have as their reasons for wanting her dead seem to fall into the "Stop humanity from going extinct" angle. We could get some big reveal that DD ate the entire thanksgiving turkey one year but I doubt that'll happen. Could it be a misunderstanding? Given Fujimoto, This is a definite possibility. However I doubt the final antagonist of the series will be so easily resolved as 'Oh you're not actually evil mb'. There would be more too it. DD is probably malicious to some extent but not as much as it seems. It's also possible DD is completely uncaring for destruction and has no evil plans what so ever and just wants to visit her sisters. Because Death itself is cruel and impartial to who and what it takes. So what else could it be?
Tumblr media
By FAR the funniest fucking option is that Yoshida actually IS the death devil and the rest of the horseman hate him because he's Trans and ruins their Sisters of the Apocalypse Gimmick. I'm not joking when I say this could ACTUALLY be the fucking solution and it's so fucking funny I keep fucking giggling at this stupid fucking One Piece Theory ass idea. Given what we know about War and how quickly Makima was reincarnated into Nayuta, It's likely that the Horsemen all have true devil forms similar to War and Pochita.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bodies they currently inhabit aren't actually their Devil bodies and are instead hosts. Again, Given what we know of War, It can be inferred that Horsemen possess the ability to create a special kind of Fiend which is what Nayuta, Fami, and Yoru/Asa are. They're probably on par or only slightly weaker than their pure forms. As such these are more akin to host bodies than anything else. So then what if Yoshida (DEATH DEVIL REAL) is actually just DD's current host body? Yoshida is a weird case in general because he has basically no backstory yet seems related to Kishibe in some way. What if its a Nayuta and Denji situation? But then why would none of the other Horsemen recognize him as death when they met despite the fact they seem to have an intuitive knowledge of their sisters. It's possible that they don't recognise Death as Yoshida because he's actively hiding his identity as to not get outed. The Control Devil's one desire was to truly be loved and understand humans. So it's to go against their primary directive as a Devil; Be loved without control. Fami's motives are still a bit weird but they seem to just be "Eat a bunch of stuff that tastes good." Which again is against her MO as a devil; Feed the hunger instead of succumbing to Famine. Yoru, Who knows shes just a little freak. So thus the idea that the Death Devil's wish would be something like "Live among humans and keep them from dying" would somewhat match an inverted directive. Yoshida is a devil hunter after all who by extension stops humans from dying. So Illustrate how funny this would be if it was true:
Tumblr media
But this requires Yoshida to not get fucking pwnd next chapter by another weird Queer Woman.

Time is a flat circle

Chainsaw Man Chapter 140: Scales
Tumblr media
Phew, it's been an unbelievably busy day today so I haven't had the chance to sit down and read today's chapter until just now. Thankfully, it was worth slogging through the day to get to this super interesting chapter. Plenty to point out and lots to discuss!
Denji might be an idiot, but he's not stupid. Right away he realizes that children and students are what populate the halls of the Chainsaw Man Church, a paragon on purity and goodness, and definitely not a cult like Miri points emphasized earlier.
Tumblr media
Also, Nobana here is confirmed to be Kobeni's younger brother. No real surprise, but the position he's been placed in makes things far far more interesting. Is he here without Kobeni knowing? Is he here because of Kobeni's association or link to Special Division 4? It's an interesting question to pose, but regardless of outcome almost guarantees the fact that she'll reappear in the story at some point.
Anyways, although there's a lot of interesting pieces to this chapter, there's also a bunch of funny ones thanks to the all encompassing nature of the Chainsaw Man Church. I mean, what's a church without a Chapel, right?
Tumblr media
Even through these funny moments though, the chapter does well at keeping the gears turning in your head about what the purpose of it all is. After all, it was shown in part 1 that Denji's powers were weakened when more people started cheering for him and thought of him as less scary. Could Fami be placing the same importance into the fanaticism of the Chainsaw Man Church to ensure that Denji isn't powerful enough to interfere in the prophecy?
I'm not sure, but what I'm sure of is that Miri hates America.
Tumblr media
In more interesting terms, we get another confirmed Hybrid Devil with Barem, the Flamethrower Devil. A very interesting character for sure, they tease a lot in regards to Denji's character, and probe rather deep with what seems like malicious purpose.
Tumblr media
Right away Barem gets to pushing Denji's buttons, trying to coax Chainsaw Man out of him. How he phrases things and how he approaches Denji, it's all to get a rise out of him to get him to do something.
Tumblr media
Alongside that though, he attacks Denji's heart by offering a choice: Chainsaw Man, or his daily life? There's a lot to take in here, but Fujimoto makes an incredible choice in paneling with when Barem presents the options. Rather than one half being Denji, and the other chainsaw man, both are Denji. Because, well, Denji is Chainsaw Man and vice versa. The entire idea is inseparable from the person, even if Denji is in deep enough a hole to say it was Pochita that fought Makima. It's a great piece that addresses the Denji beneath this outside version, reassuring readers that Denji isn't as shallow as Part 2 can present him to be.
Also, does Barem potentially have a contract with another Devil? I don't know if it's possible for Hybrids to really form contracts, but the idea of scales really brings up the concept of Justice, which has shown to be a devil that's played quite the role in Asa's life so far. Can't really help but feel like there might be some extra influence in that regard.
Tumblr media
Getting to the end, the pressure Barem puts on Denji is too much for him to handle, so he books it, leaving the two hybrids standing there on their own. There's not much to it aside from Barem's dialogue, but it's really great in spite of how little there is. The script flips from Denji to Chainsaw Man, and Barem essentially offers a threat that Denji won't be allowed to stay out of this fight for much longer. Thanks to that, a really interesting spider's web appears of what it is the Chainsaw Man Church is attempting to do to Denji. In the end though? It appears the end goal is to place him under the control of Fami. To starve him of his attention, his title and the life that he worked so hard for, to bring him to his knees in as many ways as possible. Each and every character wants to break down Denji until Chainsaw Man is all that's left. And with each chapter, that goal ends up closer and closer.
Tumblr media
It's a really great chapter for how short it can feel. Though we have a bit of filler with how weird the cult of the Chainsaw Man Church is, we still get plenty about Denji's spiral towards the end, and Fujimoto continues to do a great job with this more slow and methodic approach. Also, the odds of Denji bumping into Reze in the Church while he feels from Barem feel incredibly high, and that really seems like it'll be the nail in the coffin. I can't wait to see what the next chapter holds!

csm chapter 120 but in toki pona (first 10 pages)
Tumblr media
alright hellooo!!!! this is my first published translation in 2024 i guess!
of course i'm marketing this towards english speakers since i'm not sure if there actually is a part of the csm fandom that speaks toki pona... i hope you'll stick around to see something a little fun and different!
so if you don't know what toki pona is, allow me to explain! ☝️🤓 toki pona is a conlang created by Sonja Lang where the main draw of it is that it has less than 200 words! it sounds like it may be tricky to speak with so few words, but it's surprisingly easy and very fun! i always recommend it to anyone who has a bit of time on their hands and wants to try something new.
here i was mostly trying out gimp for comic translations, and so i translated the first 10 pages of chapter 120! i chose this because... it's silly! also fun fact, the start of this chapter was one of the things that pushed me to read chainsaw man!
ok that's enough preface rambling, let's get on with it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think typically the first page should be full sized if it has to, but nayuta peace sign is just so cute..!
alright, if you wanna feel like you're on a date with asa then keep reading to find an english translation and translator's notes! if not... feel free to leave, i hope you eat something nice today! (omekapo!)
semi-literal translation:
yoru: woof! woof! woof!!
nayuta: HAHAHAHAHAHA!! yoru: woof woof! wooof!! denji: Nayuta! what did you do?! nayuta: i turned her into an animal. denji: why?!?! nayuta: because she [kissed] my thing! (here she basically says that yoru interacted with nayuta's thing using her mouth. it's a very vague statement)
denji: i'm not your thing! turn her into a human now!! nayuta: want food! can't! (technically she says "food desire! no ability!") nuh uh! denji: ah?! i'll make food. when you eat turn her into a human!! nayuta: 'kay!
denji: eat and turn her into a human. i'm not joking. nayuta: hey! this is my food! bad! bad!! nayuta: hey... do you really want her humanity? (sounds very weird in english but i'm not sure a better way to put it) denji: what?
nayuta: Denji. every woman tries to kill you, right? why is this animal different? denji: why...? i have a feeling. nayuta: hmmmm.... good. (this is being used as an affirmation similar to "alright" or "very well then") you won't die. okay. i'll turn her into a human.
nayuta: but, two things. if they're not good to you, then she'll be an animal forever. denji: what are they?! nayuta: number one. i can eat ice cream (cold sweet) all the time. denji: i want (it) too. nayuta: number two.
nayuta: don't be nice to her. denji: are you joking?! nayuta: uh, i'm (being) real. this is the best. she's bad to my nose. denji: your nose?
denji: is she like a wet animal? nayuta: weirdo, wet animals are good! anyways, don't be nice to her! i'll change her knowledge... so that to her you didn't come (today)! denji: you'll what?! then she'll hate me!
nayuta: not important. you won't talk to her. denji: ahhh...
denji: you're number one, nayuta...
tadaaaa! there we have it! now time for some translator notes, of which there are actually not a ton.
toki pona is surprisingly difficult to adapt for different kinds of characters. due to having no register, it's hard to make characters seem more punky or polite than normal, and to distinguish between adult and child characters. here particularly we have the issue that, while Nayuta is a child, she's also super smart! so making grammatical mistakes doesn't really seem in line for her character. the main action i took was doubling up "la" with her. this isn't incorrect, but there are more optimal ways to say things to avoid ambiguity. i thought that perhaps a kid wouldn't think ahead with their words as much as an adult would, and may end up with this quirk in their speech.
related to the last note, one possible way of making a character seem younger or less proper is having them use nimisin ("unofficial" community made words). it's a fun idea, but it's kinda inaccessible and also... i don't really know nimisin! guess i'm not hip enough >_<
the name Nayuta luckily fits with toki pona phonetics (with the y changed to a j)! Denji doesn't quite, so i opted for Tensi. this is the most direct tokiponisation of his name. it sounds a bit like tenshi! (angel in japanese)
just a little something. i went with humans being "jan" and devils "monsuta" (hybrids and fiends may be jan monsuta and monsuta jan respectively, or they could have nimisin) so.. why are these two using jan? well for Denji that's an easier question, as he is basically human-first and also had the name before he became a hybrid. (also there's no need to be so descriptive with a headnoun) as for Nayuta, she uses jan because she's sort of undercover. depending on the circumstances, or when referring to her with her real name (like saying Control Devil in english) she would be monsuta. some devils who gave themself a name use jan, while others such as Power use monsuta (because why would she call herself a human when devils are clearly superior?!)
suwi lete or lete suwi? that is the question. here i decided to go with suwi lete because i think the most appealing aspect to Nayuta is likely the sweetness!
i hope this was at least somewhat enjoyable! i wonder what i'll find to translate next >w> thank you so much for reading if you did! sina lukin la mi pilin pona a!

eIt’s been a long while since I have been so invested in the relationship between two people, but I really want Asa and Denji to, at the very least, walk out that aquarium on the road to being friends.
Like, Denji spent his whole life being used and manipulated by other people, being left with nothing but scarps and ended up being thankful for so little. He spent Part 1 wanting the bare minimum because he didn’t know how to want for anything else, he didn’t even know how to want a proper, loving connection and relationship with other people. And over time he got that, he had that with Aki, and Power and maybe something with Reze, but Makima tore all that away in the most cruel fashions, tearing him down until there was almost nothing left. Denji came out the other side alive, but he lost those things.
Asa on the other hand, while not having a life as terrible as Denji’s is clearly alone and miserable for it. Despite how cynical and pessimistic she is, she clearly wants people in her life, between Bucky remembering her name and her providing a phone for the devil hunting club, she seemed genuinely happy about the prospect of connecting with other people. It’s just that she has inceribly shit luck, she ended up killing Bucky, she dropped and broke her phone, which caused everyone to hate her. Yuko seemed like a great start to having a friend, and while did seem genuine, she ended up being a school shooter that Asa has to have a fight to the death with. Then there’s Yoru, the devil possessing her body, holding her hostage and forcing her to kill people and turn them into weapons, and Asa was sad and disappointed when she remember she wasn’t with her in the aquarium.
Be it romantic or platonic, however long it takes, I just want these two sad and lonely kids to just be there for one another.

Contradicting to popular belief, Dennis is a very selfless person. Although when you first start the series, where he is depicted to be a very shallow person, only joining because he likes Makima and wants girls to fall for him (or some sort it's been a while since I've read the front).
As you read on you will realise the compassion he has. Despite being not even close to human since the start, and having to deal with the burden of killing his father, the death of his mother and living in the slumps, only longing for a normal life, he is one of the kindest people in the story (perhaps because he doesn't have a human heart anyways).
For example, he has kept Makima's dogs even though they are part of a past I would believe he doesn't want to remember. He kept them for Nayuta's sake AND for the dogs because he considers them a part of Nayuta's past + if he left the dogs behind they might go to someone abusive. From this example, we can see that he is kind because even though he could abandon the dogs (and meowy but he wouldn't do that because it serves as a memory of power whom he misses very much) which would help with his financial position, he didn't.
Example two, Nayuta. In the aquarium date chapter, Asa asks why Denji is so obsessed with selling things and making money. He answers that he wants to save money so that Nayuta can go to college because he believes that she has the potential and he wants her to have a normal life which he did not have. This shows he truly does care about Nayuta and that he brought her up well. The way that Nayuta acts is a product of it. Denji has created a space for her where she can express her emotions freely and grow up as a free being (maybe I'll do an analysis of her eventually and also he learnt all this from aki definitely I'm gonna cry)
In the recent chapter (chapter 133), it is shown that Denji chose to not transform into Chainsawman even though it is something he loves to do, something that brought him happiness because he is worried about Nayuta's life he wouldn't know what to do if he lost another person. He was willing to do degrading things (ie: yoshida scene btw i hate him now he was pretty at the start but now he's so annoying) for her and I really really admire that from him.
As said by Dennis himself, he does not fight for anyone, he has died again and again but he's never stopped and he was named my the people themselves in time of need. I think he is heartbroken they would take out a fake Chainsawman who stands for things he doesn't stand for, (because, again, denji doesn't have a human heart and I don't believe he has morals...) and I think he deserves better :)

Going to be giving my thoughts on chapter 113 of Chainsaw Man
Tumblr media
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Tumblr media
Okay, as someone who hates deviating from a set schedule, I found this super funny.
But what’s more interesting is that Denji genuinely wants to enjoy his time here with her. I know that isn’t saying much but I’m so happy to see Denji doing normal teenager things. And when he said yes to going out on a date with Asa, it’s just so that he can experience an actual date because a girl finally asked him out.
But I will admit, I really want to see Nayuta and Denji’s home life now but that’ll wait as Asa is technically our MC (We did see Nayuta’s head when Denji was sleeping in the previous chapter I believe…).
Tumblr media
POOR DENJI :(
Let the boy see his penguins!!! Another thing I like is that he’s more willing to stand up for himself and his opinions in Part 2! (Yes the majority of my reactions to this Part is just going to be me enjoying Denji’s progression as a character! >:3
Another interesting thing is that Asa seems to have trouble realising when her tone sounds rude. This dynamic is turning out to be more interesting than I initially thought and not from a romance perspective.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is by far my favourite scene and solidifies my thinking on what Denji is like now.
He will not be controlled. He will not have another Makima in his life again.
It was hinted when he was eating cake with Yoshida. He tried to control Denji by taking away his cutlery, but Denji retaliated by eating with his bare hands. It was the “Denji” way of showing his new way of going through life.
But this scene is great too. I think he would’ve waited for her to finish but that “You don’t need to think about a thing” gave him red flags and for good reason. I’m sorry but I’m just so proud of Denji here. Go see those penguins king!
Poor Asa tho, she rehearsed so hard for this haha.
Tumblr media
SOOO FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE?? Lets go!!!
Fami seems nice though, why is she helping Asa? Surely it’s not JUST because she’s her sister right?
But what’s more intriguing is that Yoru doesn’t want Asa to trust her. Do all the horsemen of the apocalypse hate each other?
Tumblr media
I love how Denji’s first reaction is “Ah damn, Eternity devil is back again urghhh”
But wow, Fami’s ability is so unique. I wondered how they’d show “Famine” as an ability but even tho this is kind of like Eternity Devil’s ability, I suppose the difference is that you’ll eventually wither away from starvation.
Also wow Denji looks like a regular teenager in this shot. I’m so happy for him ;-;
_________
Overall, a great chapter! We get more insight on what Denji’s character is will be like for part 2, more insight Asa’s personality and mentality (which I think is that she is afraid to admit when she’s wrong? I need to look into that more, I’m not sure), and finally, Famine Devil confirmation.
And although it was brief, Yoru’s reaction to Fami gives me the feeling that the apocalypse sisters do not get along. I cant wait to see Death Devil but I’m sure they’re still in hell. I mean, Death is feared by so many people and animals, I’d be surprised if the devil isn’t the strongest in Hell…

the new chainsaw man chapter. i've been seeing thoughts on it, mostly critical of the end (fair honestly? it hit me like a punch in the gut and not in a good way) but i really liked the conversation asa and denji had. we haven't really gotten any self reflection from him in part 2 because he's no longer the main character, and the closest we'd gotten before now was when he was in the movie theater with fumiko which amounted to nothing. but this chapter? when asa told him he could have a normal life, something he'd chased all of part one, and he actually questioned what that would entail? i think on one hand it's a bad omen because it was makimas whole goal that he would become so detached from "normal" and that's exactly what's happening now, but honestly i'm kind of just glad we're seeing him use his head. also, asa is finally starting to understand him.
now about the ending, i did hate it. but i didn't hate it because i felt it was just for the sake of silliness and sex jokes; i hated it because denji is probably going to numbly agree, and that will guarantee some emotionally grueling chapters. i don't think the ending was supposed to be just another punchline, i think it's supposed to upset the readers, and it did its job. there's a chance denji's going to refuse, and im rooting for that, but whatever happens, bringing up sex again kind of separates the story so far into three parts: the falling devil arc, where denji's like "yea!! sex!!", the chainsaw man church arc, where denji's like "no!! marriage!!" and then now. also, what was going on with fumiko, but i genuinely thoroughly hated that part so who cares. i don't know if this makes sense but i feel like these points are markers for denji's emotional state...and also, this could be another episode of "denji gets what he wants but it shockingly doesn't solve all his problems" and he's going to be even more depressed after. this paragraph isn't as well thought out as the first one because i'm still formulating my thoughts on everything honestly, but yea.

yunji thoughts b keeping me awake its actually my siblings’ snoring
but i wanna dump a whole bunch of hcs here for yunji so why not. cw; contains csm manga spoilers
denji and yuki met whilst working in public safety, and were instantly menaces to everyone. the members of their division would expect daily pranks from them, and had to endure constant torment
they initially stayed as good friends for the majority of knowing each other - people died too often when working as devil hunters to form attachments to others.
yuki fell first, denji fell harder
during that one kiss scene with h*meno, yuki was sat next to power when it happened, and she just left the izakaya without a word (creds to my pookie @riaki for the idea ly bae <33)
she then just aired denji for days on end until nearly the entire division were begging for her to talk to him again - he had been throwing toddler tantrums non stop
both of them are awkward fucks so it took absolutely ages to even realise the fact that they both had feelings for each other (aki had to spell it out for denji.)
they didnt start dating immediately after confessing; there were a few dates and they spent even more time together before they both knew that they wanted a relationship. tbh it was more on yuki's part - denji was ready from the get-go, with his obsession with boobs and all
speaking of, yuki does not like that shit. the one scene were denji got three squeezes from power? yeah, yuki dont do that shit. its not about insecurity or anything, but shes just really ticklish around her collarbones (another fact abt me :p)
the most boob interaction denji will ever get is laying on her chest or hugging her - no touchy touchy at all
yuki loves styling denji's hair; after missions the two of them will lay down in the living room, denji's head on yuki's lap as she puts his hair into two little pigtails. he wears them out proudly
they have quite a few arguments, but theyre never serious. the one time that they did genuinely argue, yuki left the apartment for a few days and ignored denji for the rest of the week. shes stubborn like that
both have love languages of physical touch and quality time; they have to spend every waking moment with each other - morning, afternoon, evening and night
yuki and nayuta get along, much to denji's surprise. after makima's death and the reincarnation of the control devil to nayuta, yuki began helping denji raise nayuta. she became the female role model for nayuta to follow, completing their 'family' with yuki as her 'mother'
yuki hates asa. thats the hc.
yuki steals a lot of denji's clothes, despite none of them fitting properly. denji's around 5'11", whilst yuki's 5'1" (my height...), so most of denji's clothes are oversized and have to be rolled to fit around her. she wears his shirts to sleep; it being more than enough to cover her
yuki leaves hair ties everywhere. theyre all over the floor and denji finds them in the weirdest places ever
denji is big spoon. always, since yuki refuses to wrap around his back like a baby koala to be big spoon
when shes mad, yuki goes back to her native language - Arabic, and just screams like a maniac. being Arab, her temper is worse than a standard person's (where are my arabs come back me up here)
yuki loves making middle eastern food for denji to try, and he loves eating it. his favourites are wara3 enab, kibbeh and lahm bi ajin (sfiha), but he hates molokhia and tabbouleh
petnames for the both of them; yuki to denji: 'baby', 'love', 'denj', 'habibi', 'omri', 'ya rouhi' ('my love', 'my life', 'my soul' for non arabs). denji to yuki: 'baby', 'hun', 'pretty', 'angel', 'snowflake', 'yuyu', 'princess'
thats all i have for now but i might post more for my babies <33
i love them theyre so cute

asaden thoughts? 🙏
asaden thoughts... hm maybe i should answer this ask when my brain's actually not totally crappy but i'll give it a shot. big disclaimer, i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed
but
i like them a lot as they are right now, and i also like them for what they could be. i'm really into how asa parallels makima but Wrong, and how denji actually is shown to be a lot more aware of how people treat him & how he navigates relationships now
and i like that asa as a character has so much going on to her - she's a huge asshole who thinks she's better than everyone else, but she also feels like the fucking worst. in a way, she puts herself on a pedestal in a way that alienates her just like makima. except of course, the reasons they're standing on their respective pedestals is but a difference in how they frame how different they are from other people
that being said, i bring up makima because in part 1, she and denji's dynamic were a huge thing. we see denji still struggling with the remnants of his trauma re: makima; like, for example in the latest chapter, he questions if the way people treat him has something to do with him
but something i'd really want for asaden, even if they ended up just being platonic, is to make these makima vs asa parellels mean something - something good for denji's character development
with asa, i want to see him say "no" more. i want him to see the fuckin penguins and for asa to try and compromise instead. and most importantly i want him to know, if the truth ever came out about the whole "yoruasa possession thing", that at least asa saw some loser named denji and not chainsaw man
and that's another thing i like about asaden! asa is like, pretty much the first girl to not be after his chainsaw heart. which is. very sad because the bar is 6ft below the ground. but i am glad she actually sees him. i mean, also literally too re: when she saw him amongst the crowd from up a balcony(?) when she was considering who to turn into a weapon
i just want them to take it as slow as they possibly can within the bounds of a fujimoto story and see where it goes
i think asa could come to really care about denji. it's clear she likes him a lot (which is hilarious because instead of denji, it's HER who fell in love easily). and it's funny how she tries so hard to hate him when in reality, she knows he's genuinely a good person at heart. and looking at him probably makes her feel worse about herself. because who's really "between cat and human", her or denji?
but she keeps pushing him away because she 1) is generally afraid of letting people get too close it seems and 2) doesn't want another person to get hurt because of her
can you imagine? if she managed to turn him into a weapon? the one girl denji really believed could love him the way he always wanted, was just using him the whole time? the guilt would be immense
and what about asa? i mean like, i don't wanna get my hopes up. but i think denji could really show her a good time. he could be really good for someone like her - they're both losers who could really understand one another, and neither of them have that many friends
yeah, i like asaden. my thoughts on it are all over the place but at the end of the day i just want them to kiss. and i mean i want asa to kiss denji, not yoru lol. though asa is probably screaming, shitting, crying, etc rn

It’s sad cause Denji gonna have an identity crisis and start acting how the public thinks chainsaw man should act. But also surely Yoshida is seeing all this madness. Like he can’t be blind knowing Fakesaw man is out there.
And I know damn well public safety can tell Fakesaw and Denji apart. So is Yoshida telling Denji they’ll kill Nayuta so Denji steps back. Like he’s out the way so they can actually get rid of Fakesaw man once and for all? Who knows.
Denji is chainsaw universe of Peter Parker/spiderman. Just guy behind the mask which technically anyone could be but nobody knows the why/how it came to be.
Denji became chainsaw man because Pochita loved Denji that much and want Denji to be happy. Denji doesn’t hate devils. His sisters are blood fiend and control devil.
Denji gonna expose himself to the public and it will backfire. People call him a fake because chainsaw man wouldn’t do that. Or they shit on him for causing carnage. For bringing the falling devil ( even though he stopped the gun devil)
I’m really glad we’re more focus on Denji again for these deep dives. 2 week devil is back so we probably cut back to Asa see how she’s doing again. But Nayuta comforting her big brother is very sweet

An 'Early' Analysis of Chainsaw Man Chapter 138
Woah hey I'm back, I didn't feel like talking about the past few chapters cause I didn't feel like I had anything to add since they all seemed pretty straight forward. That being said this chapter gives me alot of talk about. So we get a name for Sex Offender Girl. Boy this woman only gets worse the more we learn about her. Mifune is quite literally a government plant in denji's high school.
Tumblr media
It's refreshingly disgusting the type of shit these girls will put denji through. It's like Fujimoto keeps trying to one up himself each time he introduces a new "love interest" (Mifune is not a love interest she is a sexual predator let's keep this 100% clear). Maki was a groomer, Mifune is just a straight up Pedophile. She is going to have such a satisfying death I can feel it. This chapter goes on to confirm a few things. First off, Yoshida is apart of Public Safety. Which sorta debunks a previous thought I had of him being apart of another group. I am interested to learn 1. What Divison 7 does 2. Which Division Yoshida is in Given we know 4 was the rejects and 5 are hybrids. My best guess is that Division 7 is a sort of Espionage/Intel Division. Yoshida likely also belongs to Division 7 unless he's got some silliness going on, Which is very likely. Actually- I just now realized something. She calls it "Special Division 7" not Division 7. Looking through the list of Division members on the Wiki, That Special Prefix is very important. The Special Divisions are all full of freaks and monsters. This Sex Offender is more than likely a monster all to her own if she's apart of a Division we've never even heard of.
Tumblr media
Public Safety is just as fucked up as actual governments. It's great.
Tumblr media
I hate that she's winning me over. I want this woman dead stop making me think she's silly. Fujimoto is really good at humanizing horrible people. It mirrors real life monsters who tend to blend in with society and even seem charming on the surface. Moving on from this fucking Sex Offender. Asa continues to be the realest character in the series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I doubt I even need to say anything about how real she is. Asa is a deeply disturbed and neglected person who's shut off from the world despite her own need to validation and recognition. She and Denji are different sides of the same coin. While she tries not to show it, The fulfillment she receives from praise seeps through. This scene specifically resonated with me a ton.
Tumblr media
I wish we got a better look into Denji's thoughts in this scene. I can't even really get a grasp on what he must be thinking through all of this. In the last few days he's lost a major part of himself and has been replaced in face by a fraud and in action by a girl who he was forced to dump by his sister. There was a moment here before the reveal on this very page where I was thinking Swords was someone else. It was clearly someone from Part 1. He had a hoodie so maybe it was Violence? But that couldn't be real Violence was killed by Darkness. WAIT- BEAM? No I couldn't be beam he's been dead aswell. The Chapter is called Swordman so then maybe it's Katana man's return? No he wouldn't be on speaking terms with Denji after his testicles got mashed. So then-
Tumblr media
Turns out it's the Longsword Hybrid from the end of Part 1. Yeah turns out he's alive. Which as many people have pointed out, Means the rest of the Hybrids are alive. So is Reze alive? Certain fans seem to think she is. At this point she seems to be the only match for Denji who isn't a complete psycho. But she still tried to kill him. But then Denji was still willing to run away with her at the end of the fight. If she does come back I hope she and Denji don't rush into a relationship, Let them chill for a bit before getting into anything serious Fujimoto please. If Reze really is alive I'll talk about her more in depth when she shows back up. But I need to say my peace.
Tumblr media
The Whip Hybrid is going to be insane popular and so many of them are going to be just as Horny as Anime-Only Makima fans. I hope Swords ends up being chill with Denji and not another dickhead who tries to kill him. Denji needs another Male friend who doesn't treat him like shit. His only known ""friend"" in part 2 is yoshida and we all know yoshida has not been treating him well.

Okay but yeah I also don’t think it’s going in the direction of Denji-Asa-Yoshida triangle, Yoshida probably wants to keep an eye on Asa or sth.
The misunderstanding it will cause though!! Denji seeing Asa spending more time with Yoshida and getting annoyed by it? Delicious scenario right there
Yeah I totally think it’s Yoshida either wanting to get Asa out of the picture (he’s observant, we know. He made direct eye contact with Famine, I’m sure he’s the only one who notices Asa’s sudden change in demeanor and appearance and links it to these circumstances. He probably also wasn’t looking the other way when she made a fucking fish spear to beat that devil that one time, he’s definitely onto her.)
I do think Yoshida totally killed Yuko that one time, again, to get her out of the picure and do his job a little
But I can’t WAIT AND I MEAN I CANT WAIT TO SEE DENJI’S REACTION TO IT ESPECIALLT SINCE HE DOESNT WANT ASA TO HATE HIM!! HE WANTS HER TO LIKE HIM AND HE HAS A. FEELING ABOUT HER
I don’t know if denji would make any outright confrontations but I know he would feel guilty bc he basically lost his shot not of his own fault even!! And he does want her to like him
I still think Asaden is end game and whatever arrangement Asa and Yoshidea will have is completely NOT romantic. Its probably Asa gonna go ‘let me just kill him and get my body back’ and Yoshida going ‘let me just kill her ass’
I do anticipate things are gonna get soo messy and I’m like really excited for it, I think Yoshidea will lay out his charms and since Asa is upset and vulernable she’ll go along with it because she doesn’t want to feel upset and alone right now because she, really deep down, was looking forward to Denji and her’s date
IM SOOOO EXCITED I HOPE THINGS GO HORRIBLY WRONG
Im not a Yoshiden shipper or whatever the fuck Asa and Yoshidea’s thing is called I am strictly a Asaden bitch for love I’m just excited for the drama this will bring TO asaden’s relationship

Last Song: Magnetic by Waterparks (i'm going to see them in a week!)
Currently Watching: Four different things lol 1) Neon Genesis Evangelion (rewatch) bc i'm gonna watch End of Evangelion w a friend over spring break. 2) Black Lagoon - kinda mid but pretty fun. I like how Revy has Gun Autism and belligerent sexual tension with every other woman in the show 3) Dungeon Meshi. very nice to chill eat dinner while watching the Monster Food Show. 4) Scavengers Reign - soooo good. What if you were marooned on the most beautiful scifi horror planet ever. Alien ecosystem that hates you is one of the most creatively designed things ive ever seen
Three Ships: hmmmm i feel like i think less abt ships now than i did a few years ago. That said,
Asa x Denji (Chainsaw Man manga) - ohhhhh my god its so good. this is mostly bc Asa is one of my favorite characters ever but their cringeboy x failgirl dynamic is peak. theres also the impending doom which totally wont happen if i look over here.
Anthy x Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - the blueprint. i can't talk about them here this post would reach novella length. go watch Utena legitimately the best show ive ever seen.
Shinji x Kaworu (NGE) - whenever i get sad i post this to my instagram story
Tumblr media
Favorite Color: her...
Tumblr media
Currently consuming: Priory of the Orange Tree (book, good), The Magnus Protocol (podcast, good), Kill Six Billion Demons (webcomic, goated)
First Ship: The first thing i shipped in any way relating to internet fandom was Pharah x Mercy (overwatch). The first fictional relationship that i really liked and thought about tho is probably Percy and Annabeth. PJO numero uno campeao do mundo
Place of Birth: Northeast USA
Current Location: 39.644727°N, 76.745757°W
Last Movie: DUNE PART 2 ITS SO GOOD RAHHHH
Currently working on: I have several writing projects that are neat but are not getting finished, but primarily three things: 1) scifi project ive been working on since i was 15. I think ive managed to stay true to the original vision (star wars ripoff) while also making it somewhat good. 2) Newish high fantasy project born out of worldbuilding a four-gender system. I like how the magic system intertwines with gender i like the theme of cycles and how to break them, but ive still got a long way to go. 3) Long scifi short story about a clash of oppressive societies via toxic yuri. almost done!
Writing: I'm assuming this means completed. Several small things i don't care too much about, and one pretty good short story about a spaceship AI having a Transgender Moment (1 dead many injured)
Art: discord whiteboard akiangel. they're in love btw.

chainsaw man 112 thoughts below cut bc there is so much to unpack here
asa is so sad about the broken sword/uniform.... baby i’m so sorry :((((
“i don’t know who that woman is” YORU YOU ARE EITHER DUMBER THAN I THOUGHT OR A LIAR SHE HAS YOUR EYESSSSS
student council slash devil hunting club DMLXDS i lvoe the ongoing animanga tradition of student councils being obscenely powerful
it is EXTREMELY funny of fujimoto to drop a hell of a mystery last chapter, leading to a week of speculation and despair and everyone thinking it’ll be the main mystery fr this part, only to be like “oh yeah the imposter is this random dude who just like openly calls himself chainsaw man”. king of anticlimax. love it
i mean i suspect there are like ten imposters running around thanks to the powers of justice and/or coolgirl right there (famine? who is also justice?) but still. extremely funny
g-d asa looks so tired of yoru’s loser shtick this is so funny i love their relationship. pathetic loser teenage girl and an even more pathetic devil possessing her
Tumblr media
“as long as you’re inside me, not only will i be miserable but the people around me will be too” sobs cries owwww i get a feeling that the day they do separate it’s gonna hurt like hell even tho rn asa hates her (understandably)
HAHAHAHAHA THIS FACE SHE IS SOOOOOO
Tumblr media
the chicken stomping thing...... my heart hurts. g-d everyone is gonna end up miserable and making terrible choices and doing terrible things. i love it
“i’d rather kill a human than a cat” 1) parallels, again 2) that’s fair and also v funny
the fact that creating a weapon involves guilt is so cool bc it’s the contrary of what justice has been doing--granting powers in exchange for the students/hosts believing their every action is utterly righteous. to become stronger asa has to understand that she is doing something heinous and cruel and choose to do it anyway. and she decides to do it.......... rhghhhhhhhh
obsessed with this set of panels and the cat LITERALLY being larger/more important in asa’s vision than the ant-like humans below her....... g-d i hope fujimoto sticks to giving her a villain arc bc it’s genuinely fasctinating stuff
Tumblr media
asa seeing denji and immediately going “yeah he sounds good to kill. he’s an idiot and a loser but he sounds like a good person.” augh.
AND THEN IT TURNS OUT DENJI HAS BEEN SCAMMING HOMELESS PEOPLE FOR MONEY FJKSDXDKQLZKLX DENJIIIIIII i love my asshole son
but also............. why aren’t people at school allowed to take on part-time jobs when half of them are orphans and can’t provide for themselves. what the fuck. and denji has to take care of a little sister AND like eight dogs and a cat too??
asa’s self deprecation is so delicious i love a self hating pathetic loser who’s also really tragic and sad and clearly on a terrible terrible path
denji is catching all the cat comparison nows. did fujimoto get a cat and say dog people are out cats are IN
[cowboy AHHHHHHH dot mp4]
Tumblr media
literal devil on her shoulder........... and thinking of yuko..................... augh
AHHHH THE FACT THAT THEYRE BOTH IN SHADOW AND SHE CATCHES HIM RIGHT AS HES ABOUT TO STEP IN LIGHT AND THE WHOLE CONVO TAKES PLACE IN THAT SHADOW RIGHT BEFORE THE LIGHT oh fujimoto is gonna go for tragedy alright
Tumblr media
in general i’m really loving the way the conversation is framed i love how awkward this is how harrowing it is from asa how denji softens i love this so much i love that both protags are traumatized loser teens who have lived unfathomably tragic lives and it’s gonna get so much worse and they don’t understand one another but they are SO similar too.....
UGHHHH ASA IS FEELING REAL GUILT AT THIS AND THINKING SHES GONNA KILL A SAD LOSER TEEN...............
and like. oh man someone earlier said that denji points her out as the girl who hates chainsaw man. and here she is coming up to it asking him out on a date. a girl who hates CHAINSAW MAN but wants to ask HIM out. it’s like. everything he’d hoped and wanted. someone who wants him and sees him and not chainsaw man. and yet he responds in such a shy way when in part 1 he’d have been ecstatic........ genuinely shocked that it would happen at all
sadder still is that she really isn’t seeing him as a person at all and is just aiming for chainsaw man augh. ow.
and really what asa is seeing is a way out of this entire nightmare a way to save yuko (WHOS ALREADY DEAD AAHHHHHHHHHHH) a way to end this entire pantomime and attempt to reclaim a normal life all for the cost of this one loser kid whose name she doesn’t even know but who is so much like her and yuko and augh. augh AUGH
g-d it’s like twenty pages and there is so much to unpack here
