how the swarm of demo-bats scene could have been handled. (im not really an expert in physics of sounds but idk. maybe this is just a what if.)
when i first saw that little bit of Eddie shredding his guitar in the upside down, i was soooooo happy. MUSIC!!!! IN THE UPSIDE DOWN!!! AS A WAY TO FIGHT!!! which has always been a recurring theme all throughout the seasons. but the way they handled it in canon was kinda lame. not to mention, dustin was there, a renowned genius kid and for sure wouldn't just half-assed The Bat-tle™.
don't get me wrong, i LOVE that scene. but i was expecting they used music as a weapon, too, not just to attract demo-bats and buy their friends more time. (and they have been using music as a weapon!!)
but, how? through sonic boom or whatever. like acoustic feedback above 85 decibels. everybody hates that ear-splitting noise that happens between an audio input and audio output, but not us, rock music enthusiasts. frankly, feedback distortion is a major element in heavy metal.
anyways where am I going with this? THEY HAVE AMPS. yep, Dustin, I saw that. also they could simply grab a mic from school. or they could grab more speakers and more mics and more cables at school. or eddie might have used the ones they used in their band. they could call Mr. Clarke to ask how to do it theoretically. the first mic was invented in the 1660s. there is no excuse.
now i think it's kinda lame, the musical element was like, you know, brushed off just for novelty reasons. i get they're in a rush but that's Dustin's specialty, being creative. it was not really used there. my guy, you were at AV club.
the high intensity sound waves would have killed the bats. they could play the guitar on real hawkins so it would have sort of reverb effect on their end and they wouldn't suffer from earsplitting shit, just the bats.
im probably talking shit. im sorry. anyways thats just an idea.

Okay, I finally discovered where everyone is getting the Tears for Fears stuff but I don’t have Spotify premium . I have only been here for a month or so, so I’m going off songs from the show only, not extraneous material.
It’s a weird fucking playlist man. The modern music is throwing me so off. They’re a mix of diagetic combined with describing the character playlists. Which is, not the same? (Like, if my friends made a playlist to describe me, there would be a lot more Toccata & Fugue in D Minor and a little less Allman Brothers)
As I said on my main, I’m still going to make him a CCR fan for the chaos. Just cause. I am a fan of “a little of everything” Stevie. Boi had a childhood in the 70s

Chapter 8: Master of Puppets
WC: 5053 | AO3 link
Eddie woke to the sound of a phone ringing in the distance and his head throbbing.
He rolled over, cracking one sore and puffy eye open to find himself surrounded. The two boys were already up—Max and Erica too. A graveyard of empty cereal bowls lined the coffee table in front of them, while Saturday morning cartoons played quietly on the TV.
Despite how miserable he felt, something about seeing these kids just… being kids, filled him with a surge of renewed affection for the little shits, and reminded him of all the countless reasons he had to not fuck this up again.
He drug himself up off the couch, grunting with the effort like a 90 year old man with aching bones and deteriorated joints, and made his way to the kitchen—called by the siren-smell of good strong coffee. Steve appeared in the doorway as he approached, watching the scene just as Eddie had with a fond look in his eyes. He held two mugs, handing one off with a lopsided grin.
Eddie looked down at the drink, finding it pale with too much cream for most people’s preference, but exactly how he liked it, and could almost smell the tooth-rotting sweetness of the excessive amount of sugar. It was perfect. How did Steve know?
“I love seeing them like this.” Steve said quietly, taking a sip from his own cup. Eddie didn’t need to look to know his was black. Blasphemy. “They don’t get to do it enough.”
Eddie offered a sad smile, humming his agreement. He looked back over his shoulder at the kids, and could only imagine how three years of fighting interdimensional monsters had cut pretty severely into each of their childhoods. Steve’s too, really. They often got caught up in worrying about the younger teens but Steve would have been what, 16 or 17 when this started?
Babies, all of them.
He turned back to say as much, but Steve tipped his head towards the kitchen, beckoning Eddie to follow.
“That was Joyce on the phone.” Steve began, standing close—too close for so early in the morning when Eddie’s defenses were down, speaking low to make sure no one else overheard, the rumbling tone of his voice threatening to set Eddie’s skin on fire.
“Owens’ people are sending a car to pick them all up, today.”
“What about Hopper?” Eddie whispered.
Steve sighed. “Well, she had to tell the Doc a little about our situation to explain why she was contacting him.”
“How’d that go?”
“She said he was weirdly accepting of the whole time loop thing, almost like he wasn’t surprised? Which, I guess they do research all kinds of weird shit in those labs, and he’s worked with kids like El for years, so maybe it just wasn’t all that unexpected. He knew some things about Vecna—Henry, whatever. Once they got talking she decided to tell him about the ransom note too, figuring he might have the resources to get Hop out, and they certainly owe us at least this much. He said they would handle it.”
He shrugged, clearly trying to appear unconcerned, but suddenly wouldn’t meet Eddie’s eyes. Eddie knew him too well by now to be fooled. Something was bothering him about all this, even if he was trying to pretend like he was fine.
“It’s okay if you’re worried. I know you don’t exactly trust these people.” Eddie said.
Steve tried to turn away, but like muscle memory Eddie reached out to lay a hand on his upper arm, giving him a knowing look.
“It’s stupid.” Steve said.
Eddie tightened his grip around Steve’s bicep, squeezing reassuringly as he rubbed his thumb back and forth. “I’m sure it’s not.”
“First I was worried about her going out there, and now—I know she’s right, they probably have ways to get to him that are much safer than her and Murray just fucking off to Alaska to meet with god-knows-who, and I’m happy that it’ll keep her out of the line of fire…”
“But?” Eddie prompted.
“But, if anyone can bring someone back from the presumed dead, it’s Joyce Byers. I don’t know how much you remember from back when Will went missing, but she never gave up. Not when they found a body in the quarry, or when the whole town treated her like she was crazy for believing her son was still alive. Against all odds she fought for him, went into the Upside Down and brought him home. I just… Hopper deserves that. Someone who cares enough to bring him home no matter what.”
This time Eddie couldn’t stop himself from wrapping his arms around Steve. At least now the other boy knew they’d been close before—friends. Friends could hug.
As he had so many times before, he wished he could tell Steve that everything would be okay—but he just didn’t know, and he couldn’t bring himself to lie and offer false words of comfort.
To his surprise Steve hugged him back, tentative at first, but he quickly melted into Eddie’s embrace as though he were starved for touch. It felt wonderful and devastating all at the same time to touch Steve like this—and to have Steve’s arms around him again too. It was a painful reminder of all that he’d lost, but still he refused to be the one to let go first.
“Thank you.” Steve said, pulling back and roughly clearing his throat.
All at once Eddie realized how quiet it was. Steve’s headphones sat down around his neck, which wasn’t weird in itself, it was something Eddie had seen Max and Chrissy do whenever their ears needed a break too, but they never let the music stop. Steve's song wasn’t playing at all, and Eddie couldn’t handle watching him be taken like that again.
He reached up, lifting the earpieces back over Steve's head, fingers itching to caress his cheek as they brushed by. He clenched his fist instead.
“Your tape stopped.” Eddie said, breathless, his heart hammering inside his chest.
Steve’s wide eyes never left his face as he nodded absently. There was a sudden tension in the air stretched perilously tight between them and Eddie had to force himself to take a step back before it snapped.
Shaking himself, Steve finally looked down, popping the tape out of his walkman to flip it and begin again, the volume set as low as it could be, and still be heard.
Eddie took a deep breath and tried to pull himself together. “So, what’s on the agenda today?” He asked, managing to sound almost normal.
“The kids should probably go home or something, spend time with their families and stuff before things get worse. We’re still going to need to stock up on weapons, right? Even if El gets her powers back?” Steve asked.
“Yeah.”
“Feel like doing some shopping today?”
Eddie shouldn’t have been surprised. It made sense for all the same reasons that it had in the last loop. The War Zone was closed on Sundays, and there hadn’t been a single murder yet in town to raise the alarms with the public or the Hawkins PD. Still, he felt a shiver make its way up his spine at the idea of the past repeating itself. Thinking not only of the store, but what happened after.
He did his best to push those thoughts way, way down.
“Sure. I’ll let you break the news to your children.”
“Our children.” Steve corrected, grinning.
Fuck.
Eddie gulped, backing his way out of the room, stammering, “I-I’ll go tell Robin and Chrissy t-to get ready.”
-
Predictably, the kids fought back, having no interest in being separated now. As before, they all decided to go to Mike’s together, and it wasn’t until Steve picked up the phone to call and let Nancy know the plan that Eddie realized she and Mike hadn’t come back this morning the way they did last time. Funny how some things changed while others stayed the same, without obvious rhyme or reason.
The trip to The War Zone went smoothly and pretty much as Eddie recalled. He’d racked his brain on the drive there, wondering if there was anything they could have used more or less of. Fire seemed to be the most effective weapon against the creatures of the Upside Down, so the molotov cocktails were still a good choice.
If only they could source an actual flamethrower.
Ultimately he didn't think any different number or type of weapons would be what turned the tides. This thing would come down to a battle of wills, he’d bet his life on it.
Nancy got quiet as they were unloading the supplies after returning from the store, and Eddie could almost hear the gears turning over in her mind. It was no surprise to him when she eventually spoke up.
“I want to go look for Fred.” She began, holding up a hand before anyone could argue. “And I know what you’re going to say. If we couldn’t find him last time what’s the point—but you said his body turned up in the trees behind his house right?”
“Yeah,” Eddie replied. “Sometime overnight or early in the morning they found him.”
“Okay so, that’s a clue we didn’t have before, and a place I’m sure I wouldn’t have looked.”
“How about this—the three of us,” Robin jumped in, indicating Nancy, Chrissy, and herself, “can go for a fun-filled hike in the woods, and we’ll leave you two here to hold down the fort in case Joyce or Eleven calls.”
She met Eddie’s gaze, winking at him like she was doing him a favor. He grit his teeth and scowled. How she’d caught on already that there was anything going on between him and Steve, he had no idea.
…Not that there was anything going on since he was doing everything in his power to stay far far away from that possibility right now.
Steve didn't seem to notice their little exchange, thankfully, and was only watching the three girls with obvious concern. “If that's what you want to do. Just… be safe, okay?”
“Always.” Robin said, giving Steve a pat on the shoulder before getting back into the car with Nancy and Chrissy.
The anxiety Eddie had already been soaking in all day reached a critical level as he and Steve were left home alone together, and more than once he found himself obsessively staring at the spot on the kitchen floor where he’d first held Steve, as he fell apart after Vecna had so ruthlessly attacked him on this same afternoon in another life.
He had to find some way to distract himself or he was going to lose it.
There was only one surefire way to settle at least some of his nerves, but Eddie was too afraid to go outside and smoke—afraid to let Steve out of his sight for even a second actually, and so when he wandered away from him—for the dozenth time—to the living room, Eddie had no choice but to follow. As he did he recalled the bag of tapes he knew was stashed in the entertainment center—bingo.
He moved to the cabinet and pulled it out, digging for the only decent film among the bunch, not caring that he’d just watched The Goonies a week ago. Ironically, he thought the familiarity of it might even offer him some comfort. He glanced back over his shoulder to ask Steve if he minded, only to find him with his headphones off and silent, again.
“Dude, how many times—” Eddie stomped across the room, his concerned frustration at Steve's carelessness spilling over to rage.
How hard was it to keep a fucking tape going?
He reached for the walkman clipped to the other boy’s waistband and yanked it off him—huffing as he popped the tape out, flipped it over, and shoved it back in, jamming his finger into the play button so hard he almost broke the damn thing, before shoving it back into Steve’s hands.
“It needs to be playing to work, asshole, and you really need to start keeping those on your ears more.” He flicked the hanging cord of the headphones as he leveled Steve with a hard glare.
“It’s–they–they’re uncomfortable.” Steve mumbled in half-hearted defense of himself.
It occurred to Eddie suddenly that this had never been a problem for Steve before. He’d never forgotten to keep his tape running, and never once had he complained about having to wear the headphones.
He narrowed his eyes. “Really, Harrington? Because I’m finding it hard to believe that you can’t deal with a little mild discomfort to keep that fucking monster at bay after all the other shit you’ve endured.”
“Okay, fine. Just… listen, If Vecna doesn’t attack me before we go after him, how can we be sure I’ll be on his radar—that he’ll take me as bait?”
“Wait, were you–were you leaving the music off on purpose so he could get to you? What the fuck, Steve?!” Eddie shouted.
“What was your plan then, huh? To make Chrissy play the lure? How is that fair?!” Steve yelled right back.
Eddie honestly hadn’t thought it through that far yet, and maybe Steve had a point. He certainly didn’t relish the idea of poor Chrissy being put on the chopping block again, but this certainly wasn’t the answer.
“It’s not fair to you either!” Eddie growled. “It’s not fair, period!”
“I can handle it!” Steve bellowed, smacking himself in the center of his chest. “And if it’s gotta be someone—why not me, huh? At least I have experience with this stuff! At least El knows me a little! If this whole thing winds up hinging on her piggybacking in someone's brain again, isn’t it better—easier if it’s someone she knows?!”
Again Eddie was brought up short. He shook his head—he couldn’t argue with the bulk of Steve’s logic, but–
“You don’t know what you're signing yourself up for! You have no idea what he’s capable of! Steve, don’t do this to–”
“Why does it matter so much to you if he takes me anyway?!”
Eddie recoiled, feeling the force of Steve’s words like a slap in the face.  “What? What do you mean why? Steve, you’re my—” He snapped his mouth shut, fighting to retain control of himself even as he spiraled further into panic.
“We’re friends. I care about you.”
Right in front of his eyes, Steve’s face hardened into a cruel mask.
“Friends,” Steve mocked with a bark of laughter, mouth twisting into an unfriendly smile. “We’re not friends, not really—you do realize that right? If you hadn’t gotten yourself caught up in all this, I would have never said two words to you. Why would I?”
All the blood drained from Eddie’s face. It felt like he’d been kicked off the edge of a cliff.
It wasn’t anything he hadn’t thought of himself. A nagging fear in the back of his mind, that any feelings Steve was developing for him were circumstantial at best, nothing that would stand up to any sort of test—that it wasn’t real. That Steve had only clung to him because he was there—convenient and willing.
He’d thought, after the kiss–
Well, he’d started to hope he was wrong. Almost believed it when Robin gave him so much shit for doubting Steve when they’d spoken in the woods. But here it was in front of him. Proof that he’d been right to worry.
“Honestly,” Steve went on, clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth. “I’ve only been pretending to be nice to you so you’ll help us. Why else would I ever want to be associated with Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson?”
“Wh–what are you saying?”
Eddie’s eyes grew wet, hot tears threatening to fall. Oh god, what an idiot he’d been.
“Poor thing,” Steve cooed at him, all pouting lips and false sympathy. “You should know, when you told me you were gay?” He paused, shuddering. “I was completely repulsed. I had to pretend otherwise of course, so you’d cooperate, but it made me sick having to lay next to you night after night.”
“Wait, I didn’t…” Eddie breathed, a barely audible whisper. “But, that didn’t happen this time.”
Something was very, very wrong here.
He started to slowly back up, eyes darting between the doorway to the kitchen and the hall leading to the front door, trying to calculate his best move.
“You’re not Steve.”
“Not quite.” The thing that wasn’t Steve smirked, folding his hands together locked behind his back. “Hello, Eddie. We meet at last.”
He was still wearing Steve’s face, but the voice coming out of his throat was becoming something deeper, darker, and far more dangerous.
Any relief Eddie felt for the fact that it hadn’t really been Steve saying those awful things to him was overshadowed by the terror of meeting his enemy in person for the first time, and in his own domain no less.
“Fuck you.” Eddie spat, projecting a bravery he absolutely did not feel.
Steve—Vecna began to pace a slow circle around him. “I don’t know how you’ve managed this trick, sending yourself back in time over and over again, but it’s no matter. I’ve seen what’s in your head now. I know what you and Eleven and all your little friends have planned. It won’t work.”
A guitar riff Eddie would never forget, even if he lived a thousand lifetimes, began to fill the air around him. Someone, somewhere was playing Master of Puppets for him—trying to pull him out of this place. Trying to save him. Hope blossomed in his chest as he thought about what Chrissy had described seeing the first time he’d successfully pulled her out of her trance, and searched around frantically for any signs of an opening or portal.
Either unable to hear the music or uncaring that Eddie was in the process of being rescued, Vecna kept taunting him.
“Of course, you already know that, having failed so many times before. I wonder why it is you even continue to try and fight the inevitable. This is your fate, Eddie, and his.” The monster gestured to himself, to the suit of familiar skin he wore, drawing Eddie’s attention back.
The eyes—Steve’s beautiful hazel eyes that Vecna had stolen to use against him rolled back and began to bleed. With a loud crack his jaw dislocated, hanging loose, mouth gaping open in a silent scream. Another snap and his arm bent back the wrong way, broken.
Eddie choked back a sob, his heart shattering into even smaller pieces as he witnessed first hand what he already knew Steve had gone through, knowing he'd never be able to scrub the image from his mind.
“The sooner you accept that, the sooner your suffering will come to an end.” The words spilled forth from the gaping maw that Steve’s mouth had become.
Eddie cried out, screaming his pain wordlessly.
The music picked up suddenly, getting louder as the song reached its middle, giving Eddie the strength to look away—and finally he spotted it, a faint glow like the promise of sunshine coming in through an open window, emanating from somewhere behind Vecna, through the doorway to the kitchen.
He took a few stumbling steps back, the disfigured visage of Vecna-Steve following his every move, and faked a run for the front door, pivoting at the last second to switch direction down the hallway, entering the kitchen from its other side and dove into the hazy mirage head first without hesitation.
-
Eddie came-to with a shuddering gasp. He was on the floor, headphones shoved over his head and Metallica blasting in his ears. Strong arms circled him from behind, rocking him gently as a soft voice mumbled the same three words over and over again.
“Please be okay, please be okay, please be okay.”
“Stevie?” Eddie wheezed, out of breath and a little disoriented from his sudden fall back to reality. Which was saying something, considering he’d died and come back as many times as he had. He reached up, hesitantly pulling the headphones down around his neck.
“Oh my god.” Steve let out a rush of breath, sounding relieved as he slid himself around to Eddie’s side, still cradling him in his arms. He looked Eddie up and down, as if assessing him for physical damage, a haunted look in his eyes.
“You’re okay?” Steve said. Part statement, part question.
When he didn't answer right away Steve pursed his lips, concern evident on his face as he raised a hand up to gently brush the tears from Eddie’s wet cheeks. He hadn’t even known he was crying.
Eddie blinked up at him, caught between wanting to bury himself in the other boy’s chest, and the instinct to shove him away. He had Vecna’s vicious words stuck in his head now, replaying over and over again.
He knew it wasn’t real. Steve hadn’t said those things, would never have said those things. They weren’t his thoughts or feelings even if they were said with his voice. Eddie knew all of that, but still it was enough to taint what little comfort he might have allowed himself to take from Steve’s embrace.
That bastard had stolen Steve's face and used Eddie’s own insecurities against him, and it’d worked like a fucking charm.
He sat up slowly, pushing Steve away with a firm hand on his chest. Steve frowned, actually tried to push back for a moment, to keep holding Eddie, before realizing what he was doing and backed off to give him space.
“Is that… that was Vecna, right?” Steve asked.
“Yeah, it was him.” Eddie pressed the heels of his palms into his eyes hard enough to see stars. If only it would erase the image of Steve’s broken form from his mind.
“I’m so sorry.”
Eddie dropped his hands from his face abruptly to stare at the other boy. “What do you have to be sorry for?” He asked, incredulous.
“You tried to tell me how bad it was and I–I argued with you. That was the most terrifying few minutes of my life, and I was going to force you to watch that—again! How many times did you have to watch it happen to Chrissy? To me? I’m such an asshole” Steve closed his eyes, sniffling as he shook his head. “I’d still rather it be me than you, or Chrissy, or any of the kids, but it was… selfish of me to put you in the position to have to save me again on purpose. So, I’m sorry”
“It’s not—you’re not selfish, and you’re not an asshole either.” Eddie sighed heavily. “And I hate to admit it, but you may have had a point. We can’t bait Vecna with something he doesn’t want, someone he isn’t actively after. I guess now that someone’s gonna be me.”
“How will that work? You’re just as much of a stranger to El as Chrissy is.”
Eddie tightened his jaw, readying himself for another fight, but Steve quickly raised his hands in surrender. “I'm not–I'm not trying to—I'm just raising a concern.”
“I’m not letting anyone else go through that if we don’t have to, ok? We’ll ask El about it when we can, and go from there.”
Steve nodded reluctantly. “Okay.”
-
Steve searched through his closet and dug up his old walkman for Eddie to use since he’d given his own up for Chrissy. There was nothing wrong with it, just an outdated model. A new pair of batteries and he was all set.
They made Eddie’s tape in relative silence, save for the music itself which they kept turned low to save his head—a side effect of the Vecna attack being a massive fucking headache.
The girls returned a few hours later, looking completely dejected and exhausted. They still hadn’t been able to find Fred.
Nancy didn’t stay long, wanting to get back to her own house to keep an eye on the kids, and it wasn’t until she left that the other two noticed the change in Eddie, and what he now wore over his head.
Chrissy came up to him first, throwing her arms around his shoulders and resting her cheek on his chest. “Oh no, Eddie, you too?”
He hugged her back, and as bad as the day had been, he couldn’t help smiling to himself a little. He’d been so sure that he had ruined any chance of friendship with her this time around, but the easy affection gave him hope that it wasn’t a lost cause just yet.
“I’m okay, Chris.” He assured her as they separated. “Harrington had my back.”
-
In a bid for normalcy, and while they had nothing better to do, Steve ordered some takeout for all of them to share while Eddie put his movie on—hours later than intended, but better late than never.
He tried to enjoy it—the food, the conversation, hanging out with these people he’d come to care for like family—but his heart was in the past. Instead of the TV screen in front of him he saw Steve fighting off a grin as he’d watched Eddie flutter around the kitchen cooking for them. In place of the drink in his hand, he felt the warm press of Steve’s palm in his, remembering the way he’d laced their fingers together and held on all the way upstairs that night.
Giggles coming from the other side of the room were what brought Eddie back to the present, and he glanced over to see that Chrissy and Robin had drifted awfully close to one another on the couch they shared, even resting their heads together as he watched.
Not thinking he nudged Steve's shoulder with his own to point it out, wondering when they themselves had gotten this close, and tilted his head in the girls direction.
Steve glanced over, smiling at first but then his body went visibly tense, eyes guarded as he looked back at Eddie.
Oh.
“You don’t have to worry I–” Eddie only barely managed to stop himself from coming out, though he wasn’t sure why, and changed course mid sentence. “I'm cool with—Robin. I just think it’s sweet that they’re getting close again.”
Steve took him at his word, relaxing immediately. “Again?” He whispered back excitedly.
Eddie nodded and went back to watching the girls, glad that this particular thing was a staple of the loops.
Once the credits rolled and the girls made their way up to bed, Eddie helped Steve clean up, picking up trash and carrying their few dishes to the sink. He fled as soon as they were done, saying a quick goodnight before rushing to the downstairs bathroom to change and laying himself down on the couch, the big one this time. Dustin had been right, it was a lot more comfortable.
He assumed he’d gotten away with it, that Steve had already gone up the stairs, but less than a minute later Steve came striding into the room carrying two blankets. He tossed one to Eddie before wrapping the other around himself, and settled down on the other couch.
“What are you doing?”
“Sleeping.”
“Steve.”
They both sat up, staring daggers at each other from across the room.
Steve broke the standoff first. “I don’t think you should be alone. What if something happens, or your tape runs out? Since you seem to have something against sleeping in a bed with me again, I figured I'd just join you down here. It’s fine.”
“Fuck’s sake.” Eddie grumbled.
So much for keeping this one boundary, but he’d manage somehow. He suspected Steve still felt like he must have done something wrong before, and Eddie couldn’t live with him feeling guilty over something that wasn’t his fault. And, he supposed, there was no use in both of them sleeping on couches when there was a perfectly good bed upstairs.
Eddie reluctantly got up, flinging a throw pillow at Steve’s smug face as he did. “Come on then, big boy. Lead the way.”
-
In the familiar comfort of Steve's room, Eddie laid on his back and stared up at the ceiling, hugging his side of the bed to keep as much space as possible between them. He was exhausted from the attack, from the day in general, but his heart pounded as he found himself surrounded by all things Steve. His scent on the sheets, his pillow under Eddie’s head, his clothes strewn about the room.
He breathed it all in deep, and, still keeping his eyes pointed forward, finally dared to ask the question.
“How did you know what song to play for me?”
Steve shifted around, turning on his side to face him.
“It was the tape from your Walkman. The kids took it out last night after they made Chrissy’s and left it sitting out on the table. It was a lucky guess, really. I just hoped that whatever you had been listening to last would work.”
Eddie’s breath caught in his throat. He’d survived by simple chance and dumb luck, and sure he was old hat at dying by now, but it didn't make the idea any less scary. He turned too, meeting Steve's eyes through the dark.
“Thank you, that was… good thinking.”
“I was so afraid it wouldn’t work. One second we were screaming at each other and then you went so still. Your eyes rolled back and–” Steve’s voice cracked, unable to finish.
“I know.” Eddie whispered. And he did know, far too well, what it was like to feel so powerless.
He started to reach out, wanting so badly to cup Steve’s cheek or pull him close, but let his hand drop to the bed between them mid-motion. Steve slid his own hand closer, inch by inch until their pinkies touched, and then oh-so-slowly, he tucked his whole hand under Eddie's, entwining their fingers and gripping him tight.
“I don’t know what I would have done if it hadn’t worked.”
Eddie swallowed a whine, praying Steve couldn't hear it, and squeezed back. He didn’t have the strength to pull away, though he knew with every touch came the potential to break him beyond repair.

Pretty Girl~2~ Joseph Quinn
Tumblr media
Part 1
sayaing
m-rae23
This is so cute! Would you consider doing a part 2 where he reads the letter she wrote for him and his reaction to it?
Joseph got back into his hotel room after a long day of meeting fans and the panels he had with his costars and fans. He sits on his bed going through what the fans have given him. He loved all the items and his fingers ran over the letters spotting one that stood out to him with your name on it.
He takes the envelope in his hands tracing his name and your name with his index finger, biting his lips as he remembers the interaction you had with him
He turns it over and carefully opens the envelope and gaped at the paper as it was neatly folded for him.
" For only Joseph Quinn eyes only" it read, he laughs as he reads it before opening it beginning to read it.
Dear Joseph or Joe,
I am writing this letter to tell you how much your character, Eddie has impacted my life. In a positive way. He's just like me, an outcast, love heavy metal music and just seems like a teddy bear
Joseph chuckles reading the teddy bear part thinking in a way that Eddie might be. He continues to read your letter
He has brought so much happiness into my heart and I would always rewatch his scenes whenever I'm upset or angry. Thank you, it might be silly about it all but you have no idea how Eddie and you made an impact in my life. There are so many words I could tell you how Eddie and I connected. The way he chose to not run and be a hero, pulled so many strings in my heart. The solo of Master Of Puppets is my favorite because it's actually my favorite song, when I heard it and watched Eddie play it, it made me love Eddie even more.
But, I adore you Joseph as an actor. I have been a fan for quite some time, loving your work more and more. I have heard many stories of how wonderful of a human being you are and I want to have a chance to experience it, I am going to get that chance finally and for the rest of my life... it will be my favorite moment. You deserve so much love and adoration. Even, the whole world. Because you, Joseph Quinn are a treasure to us, to me, to the fans and the world. I hope this letter brings you happiness in your heart, I heard you have a big heart too and I hope this letter leaves a home in it.
Stay amazing and wonderful,
Y/N
The letter has a drawing attached of him and Eddie, he was in awe of your drawing and was blown away by your kindness of words.
He takes out his phone to text you.
" I read your letter sweetheart, thank you so much for making my night and day" he clicks send and goes to open a present from another fan when he hears his phone buzz. He looks over it as it turned on the bed facing him, a smile and a blush reaches his cheeks.
" No, thank you for making it mine. You're really special Joseph"
" I told you to call me Joe" you on the other text message, blush forgetting that he did as you text him away.
" Do you wanna come to my room and hang out for a bit?" he asks. He doesn't even know if you two are in the same hotel and yet he was getting ahead of him.
You responded with a yes and that you saw him in the lobby when you went downstairs to get something from your car. He provided you with his room number and he waits.
He takes his time to put his fans gifts and letters on the table in the room not wanting it to be messy for you. He is beaming with excitement that you were going to spend time with him.
There is a knock on the door and he runs his fingers through his curls and straightening out his shirt before he answers the door. He opened the door and there you were, in a different outfit shyly smiling at him.
" Hi" you greet him, he chuckles at your shyness finding it adorable as you are and steps aside. You brush past him, your fingers brushing against his causing you to shiver. In a good way.
" Do you want a drink?" he asks, " I ordered some room service" he point his thumb at the door. You sit on his bed, bouncing as you do making him smile watching you get comfortable.
" Okay" you nod watching as he walked over to sit by you. You took noticed of your letter was the only thing he opened.
" I feel special" you motioned to the open letter. He looks down at his lap, his ears are red as well as his cheeks. He was too adorable.
" you are" he look up at you and his eyes lock with yours. His eyes look at your lips then back at your eyes. You do the same for him, not wanting to ask or push him as you sit there in silence.
" Your really pretty" he mumbles enough that you hear him.
" Thank you, so are you" he looks away acting shy. He isn't used to the compliments but looks back at you to see you had placed your hand on his.
" You're hair looks really soft" you blur out all of sudden making him laugh as he leans down close to you with his head. " You can run your fingers through it, if you want. I don't bite, unless you want me to" he tilted his head a bit to see you and you catch him smirking.
You don't answer him feeling your heart racing as you reach out and run your fingers through his hair. As you do, he can't help but let out a moan as if feels good as you play with his hair and your nails scraping his scalp.
" Oh, sorry" you say hearing him moan and pulling your hand away but he shakes his head as sits up. " It's okay, sweetheart. I liked that very much"
" You had pretty hair" he says picking up the ends of it with his fingers before brushing your hair around to your back. Your neck is exposed to him and he bites his lips looking at it wondering if your skin is soft. He wants to place his lips there for you to feel his hot breath.
" Thank you" but your eyes catch the way his brown eyes go a bit darker as he stares at your neck.
" If you really want to bite me, go ahead" you catch him off guard as his eyes go wide and he blushes, looking away.
" Joe" you call out to him. He hesitantly and shyly looks back at you hearing you.
" It's okay" you nod to him. He leans down, his hot breath is on your neck as he places a soft kiss there causing another shiver to go up your spine. He notices the goosebumps and the way your body reacted to him. You liked it.
He does it again, but this time his tongue peeks out as he licks you there and grazes his teeth against your skin. Your hands go grab a fistful of his shirt tugging him closer. He leans away from your neck and turns your head with his fingers.
" Is this okay?" he asks as he leans in, staring into your eyes wanting to kiss you. " Can I?" he glances at your lips then back at your eyes. You want to kiss him too. You swallow the lump in your throat as you lean in telling him it was okay to kiss you.
He brushes his lips against yours testing the waters seeing if you'd pull away and when you don't, he presses his lips against yours. He waited the whole day to do this.
Your hand goes to the back of his neck tugging him closer and you laid down on his bed with him on top. His lips feel so soft like an angel kiss. They dance against yours.
His tongue brushes against your bottom lip and you open your mouth letting him. His tongue dances with yours. He tastes like mint and cigarettes. You love it.
He moans into the kiss loving your tongue dancing with his in a tango. He pulls away too soon to look down at you, " You're really amazing, sweetheart. I'm glad I met you."
" Me too, but it's okay if we kiss again?" he smiles widely, moving a piece of your hair from your face before leaning down to kiss you.

Hi!
I'm so late!
But I'd love to know about HF!E
for the wip game!
Thank you, Betty! ✨
HF!E stands for High Fidelity!Eddie. It isn't a HF au it just takes place in a record store and I didn't have a name for it. It was an idea for a one-shot inspired by this playlist featuring gothic/spooky songs before goth was a genre.
It made me think about Eddie who just moved to Chicago with Corroded Coffin and is slowly being accepted by the scene. Reader works at a record store and is playing this mixtape over the speakers and Eddie very much falls in love.
I started writing it and then didn't really like it but here's a lil' snippet:
“What the fuck are you listening to anyway?”
“I made a pre-Halloween mix. Music that lead to goth before goth was a thing.” You frown as you try to unstick a bright red sticker from the price gun you’d been tapping on the pile of vinyl.
Eddie smiles to himself as he continues to pretend he’s browsing and not tuning into your conversation.
“Are you going to The Allied tonight? There’s some new band from Indiana or something playing, apparently they do a sick cover of Master of Puppets.”
Eddie pauses in his faux perusing for a second as he awaits your reply.
“I wasn’t really planning on it, no.”
The guy huffs, “No? What was your plan, going home to sulk to The Velvet Underground?”
“I don’t sulk–“
“You do when you listen to The Velvet Underground.”
“What do you want me to do? Pogo to Heroin? Anyway, I was gonna work on an article actually.”
“Why don’t you write about this band tonight? Tim says they’re pretty good. He saw them a couple of weeks ago at the Metro.”
“Tim said that about that god awful noise band that played at De Salle’s. It was the worst four hours of my life. I thought my ears were actually going to bleed.”
“Whatever, you say that like you’re not currently playing the most depressing German synth music that nobody in their right mind would listen to.” He points out the new song playing from the speakers behind you.
“First of all, this is David Bowie’s Low. And if you knew as much about music as you claim to, you’d know that this was his seminal work in his Berlin era and an ambient soundscape masterpiece. Secondly–“
“I like it.”
Both of your heads shoot up at Eddie’s interruption. He blushes and clears his throat as you catch his eye and the corner of your mouth quirks up. “Sorry, I just–it’s a good mixtape. I like the theme.” He frowns and shakes his head at himself, he doesn’t know what came over him. Who is this guy that’s bothering you, anyway? You have amazing taste and he’s pretty sure you’re the most angelic thing he’s ever seen. You gesture in his direction and look back at the guy that’s teasing you.
“The customer is always right, Simon.”
Eddie moves quickly to the B section and finds the album you were talking about before heading over to you.
“Did you find everything you need?” You smile at him sweetly as you hop off the counter and take the record from him. “I’m sorry, I should’ve asked before. Customer service isn’t exactly my strongest skill.”
The guy, Simon, snorted. Eddie couldn’t take his eyes off the way your face lit up quietly when you realised what album he picked.
“What are your strongest skills?” That was such a weird question Munson, what the hell?
You looked up at him a little taken aback, before a small smile crept up on your face.
“Talking about music…or” you shake your head in contemplation, “writing about it actually.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Maybe it’s not so much a skill, more like an obsession.”
“She’s actually kind of good.” Simon butts in with a shrug and you roll your eyes.
“Such a high compliment cuz.”
You were cousins. He still had a shot.
“You write for magazines?” Eddie asks.
“Zines mostly,” you point to a stack of xeroxed pamphlets on the counter, “but I’ve published a few reviews with Spin and The Face.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows, “That’s pretty cool.”
You breathe out a laugh and take the cash he hands you, collecting his change. “Thanks.”
“Wait, you're Eddie, right?” He turns to Simon, almost forgetting he was there. “Your band’s playing at The Allied tonight? I met your drummer Gareth at a show last week.”
“Uh yeah that’s me. We’re called Corroded Coffin.”
“Cool name.” You smirk and hand him his record wrapped in paper. Eddie tucks it under his arm, his dimples showing as he smiles back at you.
“Thanks.”
“You’re from Indiana then?” You call back to Simon’s earlier statement, as Eddie doesn’t make a move to immediately leave.
He rubs the back of his neck as he nods, “Yeah. Just moved here a couple of months ago with my band.”
“Welcome to Chicago, Eddie.” You smile and introduce yourself, “Let me know if there’s ever anything I can do for you…vinyl wise I mean.”
“Thanks,” he scratches the stubble on his jaw before stepping away from the counter. “Maybe I’ll see you tonight at the show?” He tries to keep his voice casual, but there’s a hint of hope in there.
You bite your lip and shrug, “Yeah, maybe you will.”
Eddie nods and takes his queue to leave, the bell jingling again as he steps back out into the cold.
“Yeah, maybe you will.” Simon mocks you in a breathy imitation and you roll your eyes. “So now that you know the singer is cute are you coming?”
“Obviously! You better get me on the door list, or I swear to god I’m telling Aunt Carol about the stash in your underwear drawer.”
Okay, there were a lot more High Fidelity references than I remembered. Fun fact: I have read the book and watched the film and HBO reboot so many times I could quote word-for-word. I also dressed up as Zoe Kravitz's Rob for an office Halloween party once, complete with the Wings Over America live album that she talks about in that scene with the misogynistic cheater. Only one girl got it because she was a fan of Zoe Kravitz lol.

my official reasonings/ramblings for why each song on my steddie playlist was added because the brainrot is real (this list is constantly being updated!)
i tried to keep this as close to the actual time frame as possible, but any song can be a steddie song since eddie is actually alive and well ofc 🥰
any song with just the reasoning being “Steve” or “Eddie” means it’s a song on that’d i think would be on their playlist/they’d listen to and may or may not think about the other while they do
Tumblr media

Steve wants to go all in in their relationship and Eddie is wary because he doesn’t trust rich boy Steve (at first) and also he is more cautious of how their relationship would be perceived to anyone outside the showgrounds/performers/their friends and pushes him away because of it.

Run Away to Mars - TALK for this thing i wrote of eddie being the one to sing this about steve

Henry and one-way mirrors
(not really a theory or anything here, just some observations that perhaps a larger brained Henry theorist would care to chew on)
so I was thinking how gates sorta work like holes that are mirrors.
take Chrissy's gate: the UD kids and the RU kids both go to Eddie's trailer and look through the gate in the ceiling, and they see each other in the same room they themselves are in, just the other dimension's version of it.
(there aren't matching shots in one scene which is annoying but just to illustrate like you didn't already know:)
Tumblr media
neither group is seeing the sky above the trailer, as they would be if that gate was a hole that worked how holes usually work.
if you go to the spot in either dimension where that hole would lead if it worked how holes work, it's not there.
when Eddie and Dustin go up to the roof to play Master of Puppets, we see the place where Chrissy's gate would come out, and there's nothing.
Tumblr media
so gates are mirror-holes that can only be seen from one side of that surface but not the other. it's not a perfect analogy, but this makes me think of a one-way mirror.
which has been on my mind because baby El throws Henry through a one-way mirror where the first gate opens.
they could've had Henry get zapped against any of the walls of the rainbow room, in fact it would've been easier to film that I'm sure, but instead they went to the trouble of hurling his ass through a one-way mirror into an observation room, and set design isn't random and meaningless.
Tumblr media
so I thought some more about one way mirrors. how do they work?
it's a sheet of sorta reflective glass, and to make it do the thing, one room has to be light and the other dark. in the brightly lit room, the subject will see their own reflection. but from the dark room, the observer will see straight through to the subject.
Tumblr media
dark vs light is way too broad a theme on ST to begin listing examples, not that I need to, but this made me want to dig around with a focus on mirrors and light/dark mentions as it could maybe be applied to the mirror idea.
some observations in no particular order:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
nodding. okay. Henry as the dark observer
Tumblr media
of course, hiding in the light means focusing on happy memories and love and yatta yatta which is the way to defeat darkness which is what Henry uses to prey on people.
but in keeping with the mirror thing, does Max "hiding in the light" actually benefit her? because the brighter you are, in this analogy, the more clearly observable you are to the dark viewer.
Tumblr media
just saying, this plan ultimately didn't work for her and he literally could not have emphasized the "I see you" thing more
Tumblr media
Henry fed El this plan, I'm not sure whether he specified what to tell the orderly or if she came up with that on her own because of her recent concussion, but I lean towards Henry. the plan leads the two of them down to the lab's boiler room or whatever, the only dark place we've ever seen in the building.
Tumblr media
I've lost track of whether light is good or bad in this post
Tumblr media
idek what this is but intensely bright light emanates from Henry's body and disintegrates him into dark ash or whatever. also you can see the shards around El reflecting the observation room, because it's now the brighter one.
Tumblr media
it's another one-way mirror that baby El throws Two against, cracking it all foreshadowingly.
Tumblr media
and another one-way mirror that we observe El through as she's questioned by Lenora police.
Tumblr media
have to go to season 1 for a clear view of a lab mirror as far as I can remember. Brenner watches El's experiments through one-way mirrors from observation rooms, although with lighting that allows them both to see each other.
one-way mirrors are so heavily featured in 4 when both of the likeliest viewers (Brenner and Henry) are usually in the room with the kids. who's watching 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joyce and jancy detained in what I would swear is the same room but it's not. this isn't the point of this post but why. the mirror is narrower. did they scrap and then 99.9% recreate the same set? Nancy chooses to say "hey asshole" to the camera instead of the mirror, which I trust she's aware of.
Tumblr media
Nancy why did you say this in the same episode where Henry talks about mirrors
Tumblr media
oh btw, if the lighting is equalish on both sides of a one-way mirror, it just becomes a window, and both people see each other.
Victor saw himself, but Virginia saw Henry.
my melatonin is kicking in so somebody take this from here

More To Me
Chapter Summary: Eddie has cleared his name and become a sort of legend in town, and the girls flock to see him and his band. As his girlfriend, you struggle with seeing them throw themselves at them, but Eddie knows how to show everyone that he’s yours.
Characters/Pairings: Eddie Munson x Female Reader/Robin Buckley/Steve Harrington/Gareth/Random OCs
Warnings: Reader is insecure, public make-out (Eddie makes out with reader while he’s playing onstage), drinking at a bar, sex, love declarations
Word Count: 2.3k+
“Come on, baby, don’t be mad.” Eddie pleaded with you, giving his best puppy dog eyes and pouting slightly.
“She threw her panties at you, Eddie! Just tossed them on stage at your feet like it was nothing.” You fume.
Eddie had gotten a bit of a following now that his name had been cleared, girls seemed to flock to the mysterious bad boy that was still rumored to have been a cult leader.
You didn’t mind that Eddie and his band were getting attention. You were happy for them.
But what did bother you were the girls constantly throwing themselves at him. Offering to buy him drinks, pressing up against him at the bar, throwing their goddamn panties up on stage.
To his credit, Eddie had grimaced and kicked them away, him and Gareth mouthing “What the fuck?” to each other and shaking their heads. He had handled it right.
Eddie lays his head on your chest, looking up at you with those beautiful brown eyes, making himself look as contrite and pitiful as possible.
“Baby, you know those girls don’t matter. You matter. Don’t be upset with me.”
You soften and run a hand through his frizzy curls. “I’m not mad at you. I’m just aggravated that they’re so pushy and aggressive.”
“So tell them to back off. I don’t mind.”
He drops a kiss to your chest.
“I’m not gonna cause a scene at one of your shows, babe. I wouldn’t do that.”
He murmurs and drops more kisses on your bare skin. “I know. Such a sweetheart.”
“I see another pair of panties flying toward you and I might catch someone in the parking lot, though.”
He chuckles, moving upward to claim your lips. "You’re sexy when you’re fired up.”
“Oh, you have no idea.”
__________
You walk into the bar with Robin, instantly spying Eddie by the stage, and as usual, surrounded by girls.
You’d gone all out tonight, wearing a short black leather skirt, a white t-shirt with “Corroded Coffin” emblazoned on the chest, and thigh high boots. Robin had curled your hair and helped you with your makeup, painting your lips a bright red and lining your eyes dark.
Eddie almost chokes on his beer when he sees you. He makes his way through the crowd, his eyes roaming up and down your body.
“Jesus Christ, baby, are you trying to kill me tonight? You look incredible.”
You wink at him. “Maybe.”
Gareth calls to Eddie from the stage and he kisses your cheek before heading back.
You and Robin make your way closer, managing to get to the front.
There’s a group of girls to your right and you hear them talking excitedly about how hot Eddie looks.
“What a fucking dreamboat.”
“He could play me like he plays that guitar.”
You and Robin exchange a look and roll your eyes, giggling.
A loud voice catches your attention. The panty thrower.
“I’m going home with him tonight.” She vows. “I’m gonna let that man wreck me.”
Robin winces and squeezes your arm, knowing that her comments were overboard.
You clench your teeth.
The band starts to play and the girls quieten down, their eyes fixated on Eddie as he strums his guitar. You can’t tear your gaze away from him either.
They play a few songs, and then launch into Master of Puppets, Eddie’s favorite. You normally love it, but tonight you’re nervous. Eddie’s big solo was when the panties were thrown on stage.
Sure enough, his solo starts and you can see the girl who who bragging about fucking him earlier squirming around. She pulls her bra out of her sleeve and tosses it right at Eddie’s feet, then blows him a kiss.
Robin grips your arm tightly, seeing the murderous expression on your face. She flashes a worried look to Eddie, who sees the anger on your face. Worse, the tears in your eyes threatening to spill over.
He knew your last boyfriend had cheated on you, and had hurt you deeply. And he knew that even though you trusted him, you couldn’t shake that fear from the back of your mind. It broke his heart.
He moves across the stage and drops to his knees in front of you, taking everyone by surprise.
Your eyes widen. He winks at you, his fingers never stopping as they zoom up and down the neck of his guitar. He leans closer.
“Kiss me, baby.” He calls over the music.
You hesitate, worried you’ll mess up his solo. Eddie pouts, knowing it makes you give in every time.
You grab his neck and go up on tip-toe, crashing your lips to his. Eddie kisses you back fiercely, his tongue sweeping into your mouth. He never misses a beat as he wraps up his solo, making out with you the entire time.
The song ends and Eddie is still kissing you. He breaks away as the crowd starts to clap and cheer, a few catcalls ringing out. You and Eddie start to giggle, both a little embarrassed. He’d only meant to kiss you, not make out with you in front of the entire bar.
He pecks your lips one more time and winks, then hops back on his feet as the band launches into another song.
Robin jumps up and down, squealing as she leans in to shout over the music.
“Oh my God, that was a public declaration if I ever saw one. He’s so in love with you!”
Love???
Neither of you had said it yet. You were head over heels for him, and sure it was obvious, but you hadn’t managed to tell him how you felt just yet.
You and Eddie had started off as a sort of friends-with-benefits type thing, and it had slowly developed into something more. You had gone from quickies in the bar bathroom and spending a few hours in bed to late night movie sessions and sleeping in each other’s arms. He was so much more than sex now. He was your friend, the person you wanted to be around the most. You adored him…did you love him?
Corroded Coffin finishes their set and you automatically veer to the bar to order them all drinks. They smile gratefully and Eddie snags an arm around your waist, pulling you into his lap.
“How’d you like the show, baby?”
Gareth snorts. “I’m sure she likes the one the two of you put on better.”
You and Robin giggle as Eddie grins shamelessly.
“What can I say? Maybe now there’ll be less lingerie thrown up on stage.”
After they finish their drinks you and Robin make a beeline for the bathroom. You wait for her to finish, touching up your makeup in the mirror.
The girls from earlier walk in. You avoid their gaze, knowing that if they start something right now there’s one of you and four of them. Robin would help of course, but it’d still be two-on-one.
The braless girl speaks up. “So you’re his girlfriend, huh?”
Robin shoots out of the stall, instantly ready to square up if need be.
You meet the girl’s eyes. “I am.”
To your surprise, she smiles. “Lucky bitch.”
“I’m that, too.”
“I didn’t know he had a girlfriend or I wouldn’t have pursued him, just so you know.”
“It wasn’t just about you pursuing him. It was the way you were so sexual about it. Eddie’s more than that. He deserves better than that.”
She looks embarrassed and her friends glance at the floor, the ceiling, anywhere but you.
“Well anyways, have a good night.” She finally says.
You nod. “Yeah, you too.”
They leave the bathroom and Robin sighs with relief. “I was about to go all Rambo on them, if I had to.”
You giggle. “We’d have gotten our asses kicked.”
You both head outside the bar, helping Eddie and the guys load the last of their gear into his van.
He kisses your temple. “You coming home with me tonight?”
“If you want.”
“I always do.”
You say bye to Robin and ride with Eddie back to his place. He drops off his friends along the way, reminding each of them of band practice the next day.
He holds your hand and sings along with the radio, kissing your fingers in between lyrics. You feel a tug on your heart strings every time his lips are on your skin. When he stops at a red light and turns to belt lyrics in your face, you giggle. He’s so funny, my goofy man. I love him. I do.
The two of you pull up to his trailer and you help him unload his guitar and amp. Once he’s hung the guitar in its place of pride on his wall, he turns and tackles you onto the bed.
You shriek and playfully beat your fists against his chest.
“Mmm, baby, harder.” He murmurs, nuzzling into your neck. “Beat me up.”
“Never.” You lace your hands in your hair. “I’d never hurt you.”
“Oh, no? And why’s that?” He nips your collarbone.
Now or never. Tell him.
“I try not to hurt the people I love, you know, just out of courtesy.”
He stills.
Well, it’s out in the atmosphere now. No taking it back.
His eyes meet yours. “What was that, baby?”
You shrug your shoulders. “I said I love you. No biggie.”
He grins. “Say it again.”
“No. Once is all you’ll get from me.”
You squeal as he starts to pepper your face with kisses, then licks your nose. He playfully bites your chin, then blows on your neck.
“Say it again or I’ll do this all night.” He threatens, trying to stick his tongue in your ear.
“Eddie, stop! I’m gonna kick your ass.”
He bites your shoulder, then blows on your neck again. “Say it.”
You grab his face and kiss him hard. “Fucking love you, Munson.”
“I love you, too.”
Your kisses become more frantic, tugging at each other’s clothes and touching everywhere you can. You trace his back muscles, his chest, then tug on his hair, earning you a breathy moan from his lips.
“Need you so badly. Need my girl.” He pants, reaching between your legs.
You squirm underneath him, desperate for his touch. His fingers graze your clit and you whimper, already drunk on just the feel of him.
He slides down the bed and licks up your slit, easing a finger inside you. You arch your back and clench around his digit, your legs coming up to rest over his shoulders as he worships your pussy.
It takes him mere minutes to bring you to orgasm, writhing underneath his tongue as he sends you over the edge. You cry out, repeating his name over and over like a mantra as he expertly works his fingers and mouth in tandem.
He stretches out on top of you, barely giving you a chance to recover before he pushes inside you.
You wrap your legs around his waist and whimper. “Oh God, Eddie, please.”
He kisses you, his tongue greedily exploring your mouth as he picks up his pace.
You move your hips to match his thrusts, clenching your pussy around him. His hand slips between your bodies and finds your clit.
You let out a low whine and he chuckles.
“Poor baby, drunk on my cock aren’t you?”
“Mmm…Eddie…” You manage to groan.
‘Can barely speak, huh baby? Goes dumb every time I’m inside you, don’t you sweetheart?“
He presses harder on your clit and angles his hips just perfect, hitting that sweet spot deep inside you.
"Come on baby. Cum for me. I want you to soak me.” His words are almost a plea. “Mmm, baby, takin’ my dick so well. Feels so fucking good.”
Your body tightens almost to the point of pain and then releases, leaving you a sweaty bundle of nerves beneath him.
“Eddie. Eddie. Eddie.” You whimper. “It’s so good. It’s so good.”
He fucks you through your orgasm, praising you sweetly. “Mmm, baby, you did so well for me. Soaked my cock, such a good girl.”
He pulls you upward and guides you on to your hands and knees, then thrusts into you from behind.
“Oh God, Eddie, yes, please.” You beg.
He slaps your ass.
“Mmm, please!”
You moan as he smacks you repeatedly, your asscheeks burning red from his slaps.
He pounds into you now, almost knocking you off-balance. You knew he was getting close, he always got rough and fast when he was about to cum.
His hands bite into your waist as he slams into you.
“Gonna cum. Gonna fill you up.” He grunts. “Fuck baby, gonna make you so full.”
He holds you tight against him and shoots deep inside you, his teeth sinking into your shoulder.
He pulls out of you slowly and falls onto the bed, tugging you with him. You curl up on his chest, sated and exhausted.
“Mmm, that was fucking amazing.”
“It was. It always is with you.”
“No wonder you love me.” He quips. “I’m a sex machine.”
You frown at his words and look up at him. “Eddie, you know that you’re more to me than just good sex, right? You’re so much more than that.”
“Of course, baby. I was kidding.”
“I mean it.”
He glances down at you. “Baby, I know. I promise.”
You kiss him softly. “You’re more than sex. You’re more than a hot guy in a band.”
He smiles. “You think so, huh?”
“I know so.”
He returns your kiss and pulls you close. “You’ve always seen me for me, Y/N. And I love you for it.”
“I love you, too.”
You snuggle into him and close your eyes.
A few minutes later his voice drifts through the darkness. “More than sex, huh? Does that mean no round two?”

Five Minutes with Joseph Quinn Eddie Munson Stranger Things Metalhammer Issue 365
Words: Rich Hobson
Stranger Things’ resident metalhead on playing Eddie Munson, guitar heroes and why Dave Grohl should write Corroded Coffin’s music
When you took the role of Eddie Munson, did you expect that it would take off like it has?
“Not at all. No, I think expectations get you in trouble in this game, and I couldn’t have predicted people’s warmth and acceptance for him. So it’s a really lovely feeling, it caught me completely off guard.”
What attracted you to the role in the first place?
“Well, the chances are so stacked against you - it’s very rare to be asked to participate in something that has this much kind of cultural significance so it was a no-brainer.”
How much of the character had been fleshed out when you were cast?
“I auditioned a couple of scenes that were actually in the show. We had no idea how many episodes he was going to be in; we were told at least four. But I didn’t know anything about what would happen at the end, or how much he would actually be involved in the season. So I’m delighed that I got as much to sink my teeth into.”
What were your influences for the character?
“I think we all those people that were a little bit older than us growing up, that we admired or had a soft spot for. I was always very impressed with those people that were a little bit older than me that were very nonconformist, a little attention seeking.”
How reflective is Eddie of you?
“Not much. We all have moments where we feel vulnerable, maybe overcompensate. I joined my school two years late, so I guess there was maybe a little bit of overcompensation there. But I’ve been very lucky, I’ve always had friends and haven’t felt like too much of an outsider. But with all of my characters, if you don’t humanise them, you don’t care about them, and if people aren’t vulnerable and themselves and authentic, you tend to not really want to be around them. I think we’re far more drawn to someone that’s offensively imperfect than someone that’s constantly trying to be perfect and impressive.”
We hear you “connected with the character through metal” - what were your entry points?
“I listened to Master of Reality by Black Sabbath over and over. Master of Puppets as well, Slayer . . . all that kind of stuff. That was my way into that whole world, really. Black Sabbath were my guys, and Led Zeppelin too, but I guess they’re less metal.”
Is it true you’re actually a guitarist too?
“Yeah, I’ve played since I was a kid, but it’s been woefully under practised in recent years.”
What was it that got you into guitar?
“Well, my dad played guitar and my granddad played for a time, so it’s something we’d do as a family. We are by no means virtuosos, but we all have a go.”
Who are your guitar heroes?
“Hendrix is an obvious one, I was always very enamoured with him. Nirvana were my first proper band obsession, I had all of Kurt Cobain’s posters on my wall. It’s kind of cliché, but it’s true.”
Did you get any input on the epic Master of Puppets solo in the new season? Was it your choice?
“I don’t know where the fuck the showrunners got it from! Ha ha ha! But it was completely their choice. It was the perfect song for a crescendo to take us through this crazy sequence I think it’s an inspired choice, really.”
Will we ever hear Eddie’s band, Corroded Coffin?
“We’re working on an EP . . . Joking! I’m joking!”
It’s not that ridiculous - Dave Grohl did it with Dream Widow this year . . .
“Maybe I should email him - ‘Would you writ the music for Corroded Coffin please?’”
How would they sound?
“Oh, thrash! Proper, old-school thrash - really fast, really evil.”
If you could play any rock star in a biopic, who would you choose?
“Keith Moon would be pretty cool, you could have a lot of fun with him. I don’t understand how that hasn’t been done already. I’ve actually heard that there’s something in the works, but I don’t think I’m in consideration for it. Whoever gets to go at that . . . That’ll be a lot of fun.”

Eddie Munson x reader
One shot, Eddie/partner reader having some down time in the Munson trailer; fluff, kissing, hint of suggestion, bit of language, link leads to Spotify
1.4k words
Tumblr media
How Eddie could concentrate on writing while music, of all things, crashed around him never failed to bewilder you, because you definitely did not possess that superpower. Music always demanded your attention whenever you heard it. God forbid any played while you had to study, write papers, read, try to watch TV, or do anything that involved word-processing or production, because your efforts would be pointless. Yet here he was, cranking out band notes for Corroded Coffin while editing the next part of Hellfire's campaign, which he let Will take the lead on this time -- all to the tune of a mixtape that you had made with some of both of your favorite songs. They chugged from the speakers in his room to the living room where he had everything spread out. His pen glided across the papers, tongue stuck out in concentration whenever he wasn't mouthing thoughts to himself.
You couldn't help but smile at the scene in front of you when you looked up from the patch surgery you were currently in the middle of. The W.A.S.P. patch on Eddie's jacket had been eviscerated by a nail head when he plucked it from a rickety park table, but you were confident you could fix it with the embroidery supplies you had. How you two were almost felt like something from a Jane Austen novel, what with your sewing and his writing, but Ozzy's distinctive vocals kind of derailed that sentiment. The thought still made you snort, though, which got Eddie's attention.
"Will she survive another day?" he asked, watching you pull the needle through the base.
"I think so, but it might be a little wonky. I'm trying to fight the temptation to make it say WASD, just to add to its charm."
"You better not," he teased in a low voice through a laugh as he leaned over to you to look at your progress. His eyebrows shot up. "Damn, sweetheart, it already looks so much better."
Your fingertip ran over what you'd already mended, then you looked at him with a proud smile and a thank you, to which he insisted his own thanks, having resigned himself to buying a replacement.
"How do you do that?" you asked him after he went back to writing and reading.
Eddie looked up with a curious expression, asking, "Do what?"
"Concentrate on that with music playing."
The corner of his mouth quirked up and he shrugged. "I don't know, I can just zone out to it."
"Really?"
"Yeah, it drowns out the noise."
"Baby, that is noise," you teased.
Eddie gasped ridiculously and barked, "That's Ozzy!" which made you chuckle and him smile. "I guess it gives me a mental anchor or something."
He did seem less fidgety than usual. Whatever works, you thought to yourself as you put his vest on the arm of the couch and made your way to the kitchen. "I'm getting me something to drink, you want anything?"
"Sure, anything's fine," he said, oscillating his pen rapidly between his fingers as his eyes scanned the papers briefly before looking up when you grabbed some mugs off the wall. Eddie watched you move into the kitchen with a slight smile, loving that you always opted for mugs over glasses. And loving the way your butt moved when you walked.
"Do you still have some of that lemonade?" you called as the song changed to Metallica's "The Thing That Should Not Be."
"Yep, in the fridge," his eyes still trained on you.
You knew Master of Puppets was Eddie's favorite off of the album, but this was yours. You couldn't help but sway, bob your head, chop out the riffs, and mouth the words as you filled the two mugs you had grabbed. You took a quick sip of the lemonade from your mug, which had "Butt, Montana" emblazoned confidently on it (one of your favorite thrift store finds), then scooped up his and made your way back toward the couch, still mouthing the lyrics and dancing slightly. A smile stretched across your face when you saw Eddie watching you in amusement. Then he caught sight of his mug.
"Oh, it's a Garfield day," he said, as you handed the cheeky mug to him.
You nodded with a smile and kept dancing softly to the riff as you took another sip from Butt, Montana, which made him laugh. Eddie put his mug down and stood up to stretch his legs. His big brown eyes raked over you as you moved to the music and landed on your lips that mouthed the lyrics:
Fearless wretch, insanity
He watches, lurking beneath the sea
He moved closer to you, asking, "Having fun, there?" with a stupid smirk making him look almost as adorable as he thought you looked holding Butt, Montana, enjoying Metallica, and looking at him with a smirk of your own as you continued with a hint of dramatic gusto in your facial expressions for the next lines:
Great old one, forbidden site
He searches, hunter of the shadows is rising
Eddie's hands landed on your swaying hips when he moved in close, and his lips hovered over yours as your lemony sweet breath played across his:
Immortal
You both smiled as you chased and dodged each other:
In madness you dwell
The tip of your tongue flicked at his top lip, making you both chuckle. His hands moved to your waist, and you wrapped your arms around his neck as you filled the lull in lyrics with a few chaste kisses and tried to be mindful of holding your mug upright behind him.
Eddie licked his lips and hummed, "You taste good."
"Yeah?" You grinned and looked into his half-lidded eyes, heavy with adoration, then ulled back just enough to keep him at bay as he moved in for another, better taste. You couldn't deny him for long, though. When your lips slotted against his, Eddie swiped across your bottom lip, tongue alight with the sweet residue that he wanted more of. He trapped your lip between his teeth and gave a throaty chuckle as he soaked up the little whimper you let out before taking advantage of space it had created. Eddie moaned as he licked into you, the contact and the sound sending a charge through the base of your spine further fueled by the squeeze he had on your waist. You sighed into him as the kiss grew heavier, and your wrist relaxed just enough to tip the mug over and spill a little lemonade down his back. He gasped and jumped at the cold contact, further jostling the mug in your hand, which resulted in more lemonade sloshing out and splattering on the papers behind him on the coffee table.
"Oh shit," you said, then you both looked down at the damage, which thankfully wasn't terrible. Eddie was smiling when he looked back at you, and said, "Better than bong water," which made you laugh.
"Apparently, you're more distracting than music," you said as he peeled off his shirt. He wadded it up and eyed you suspiciously as he wiped off the bottom of your mug, then the coffee table. When he stood back up, the sheen of lemonade on his skin caught your eye, and you moved toward him on autopilot: mugless hand contouring to his warm bare side, tongue dragging across the sweet patch on his back as you pressed into him. Eddie sucked in a breath, and you said, "You taste good too."
"Are you just trying to get me out of my clothes?" he said through a smirk when he turned back around.
"How dare you." Your smirk countered the scandal in your voice. Eddie chuckled as he watched you take another sip a little too innocently and let your eyes drift over his inked skin. The spill truly was an accident, afterall, but you definitely weren't disappointed in its aftermath. You smiled at him from over the mug.
"I have a reputation to uphold, you know," he practically purred as he plucked Butt, Montana from your hand and took a sip of his own, then set the mug down on the coffee table. "I can't have my honor questioned."
You gasped playfully.
"My good name besmirched."
Your lips pooched out a little and you shook your head. "Of course not."
Eddie covered his bare chest and torso with his arms. "You wouldn't take advantage of me in such a -- a vulnerable state, would you?"
"Wouldn't dream of it," you assured in an alarmed tone, but your eyes said otherwise. And your hands slid over his skin and came to rest under the waistband of his sweats.
His head jerked back a little. "No?" he asked, to which you shook your head again with a smile.
Eddie sighed dramatically and his face dropped in disappointment. "Well that's a shame," then he left you with a smirk to throw his shirt in the dirty laundry and get another.
"You gave up too easily!" you called after him.
Eddie turned with a devious grin, then yelled the last, "In madness you dwell!" of the song at you with a bowing flourish and disappeared into his room, knowing fully well that you would follow.
You huffed out a laugh and went after him.

Carpe Diem
Pairing: Eddie Munson x female reader
Warning: pining, a shit load of pining. Cursing, slightly suggestive thoughts by reader, angst, oblivious Eddie because of course.
Reader and Eddie have been best friends since forever, and reader has been harbouring a secret crush on her metalhead bestie for some time now. Eddie tells her carpe diem and so she does infact carpe diem. Pt 1 is just setting the scene, pt 2 will be pure porn 😈
Tumblr media
You groan, flopping face first onto Eddie's bed as the opening riff of Master of Puppets starts up again, for the sixth time that evening.
Your best friend immediately ceases playing at the sound of your misery.
"What?" He asks pointedly. "I thought you liked Metallica!"
"Eds, I love Metallica, you know I do, but you're kinda ruining then for me right now." You mumble, mostly into his comforter.
"Impossible, nobody can ruin Metallica, sweetheart," he grins that stupidly beautiful boyish grin of his that turns your insides to mush, and you groan again as he starts over. This time he doesn't stop. He plays the entire song through, only fumbling up the intense solo a couple times. You have to admit, it was pretty impressive.
"Jesus, Munson, the record's only been out like 2 weeks, don't you have a life?" You tease him, poking him with your foot. He playfully swats your foot away.
"Aren't you forgetting something, my darling Y/N? I'm the freak of Hawkins, why would I ever wanna do anything that constitutes interacting with any of those douchbags at school when I could just hang here, play my guitar and not be harassed?" Eddie blows a strand of hair out of his eyes, gently plucking the strings of his beloved guitar in a soft rhythm. You frown, sitting up and leaning back against his headboard. Your 'study' session was long forgotten by now; it was clear Eddie had no interest in cramming for your English tests tomorrow morning.
"I hate it when you say that, Eds" you say gently, looking at your best friend dejectedly. "You're not a freak. You're just different, and people hate different. It scares them because they don't understand anything other than what they're told is 'normal'. You're you, not some brainwashed little sheep chasing after the all American dream." He chuckles, and you smile back at him. "You and me, Eddie Munson, we're the wolves who eat those sheep, remember?"
"Damn straight, my dark queen," Eddie winks at you, and you roll your eyes. "Oh come on, that's funny! Cos I'm the dungeon master, you're my second in command, my evil mistress-"
"Evil mistress?!" You burst out laughing.
"Yeah! The whole school is convinced we sacrifice goats or some shit and then fuck while we bathe in their blood." He crinkles his nose. "Sounds pretty metal, actually." He smirks, cracking up himself as you lose it, practically howling with laughter. "See? This is why you're my girl, Y/N, you get me, you kick ass at DnD, and you appreciate good fucking music!" He shouts, standing up and theatrically flinging his guitar around his body before playing the same god damn opening riff again, tilting his head back like he was opening a sold out stadium show.
"Eddieeee!!" You yell in protest, but he's totally not paying attention to you now, lost in the music. You shake your head, smiling as you watch him. He really was extremely talented; one of your favourite things to do was watch him play with his band every week. He had an amazing stage presence, even if the crowd was about 5 drunks in the local dive bar, Eddie played as if he was playing to 500,000 people. As he approached the solo, your eyes drifted down to his hands.
His hands...
You swallowed hard as you watched his talented fingers fly across the fretboard, and you found yourself squeezing your thighs together.
The truth was, you'd been harbouring a crush on your oldest, bestest friend for some time now, the old overdone 'he doesnt see me as more than his best friend' trope had been your daily life for the last 4 years. To Eddie, you were one of the guys, one of the Hellfire Club's longest serving members, one of the best weed brownie makers around...but absolutely, definitely not anything else.
But it didn't stop you from having these feelings towards him. It didn't stop your heart trying to punch its way out of your chest every time you saw him, it didn't stop the throb in your panties everytime you saw him without a shirt on, or imagined how talented his fingers would be doing something else...
You must have been lost in your fantasies, because the next thing you know, Eddie is leaning down, grinning at you, so close to you that your noses are touching. You jump a little as you snap back to reality.
"Hey, where'd you go?" Eddie's voice has a teasing tone to it, and that really isn't helping things.
"N-nowhere." You stutter, avoiding his big brown eyes. "Just trying to tune out your sucky playing."
"Y'know, words hurt, Y/N"
"I'm kidding Munson, I'm only jealous because I wish I could shred like you, o mighty one, but alas I am a mere mortal without the shredding powers of the gods of metal!" You stick your tongue out and make devil horns on your head with your fingers.
Eddie laughs, shaking his head. He moves to sit on his bed beside you, carefully avoiding smacking you with his guitar. He takes your hands and pulls you into his lap.
"Sit with me, mere powerless mortal, and I shall bestow upon you the powers that you crave!" He drapes the strap of his precious guitar around your neck and places it carefully into your own lap. He adjusts himself so his chest is pressed against your back, his legs spread either side of yours. You suppress a shiver of delight as his breath tickles the back of your neck. "Gimme your hands, Y/N," he says softly, and chuckles as you jump at the feel of his words against your ear. "You're awfully twitchy tonight, you okay?"
"Y-yeah, I'm good," you whisper, your mouth so dry you're worried you'll cough up dust. Your heart races as Eddie places your hands over his and he begins to play. You recognise the starting notes the riff from Fade To Black, one of your favourite Metallica songs. You smile softly. He always remembered your favourites.
You catch yourself glancing down at his hands again and feeling that familiar tingle. Eddie rests his head on your shoulder. "See? You're an expert."
You allow your head to rest against his for a moment, bathing in the bliss of this romantic and bittersweet moment. "Y/N? Wanna tell me what's going on in that pretty little head of yours? You're being weirdly quiet."
"That a polite way of telling me I talk too much?" You smirk, concentrating on his hands again. You frown as he suddenly stops playing and moves from behind you, placing his guitar back on the wall. He then comes to kneel in front of you on the floor inbetween your legs. He looks up at you with concern.
"Hey, Y/N, I'm serious, you pissed at me because I'm not studying? Cos if you are, I'll study for like ten minutes, super hard-"
"No, Eds, I'm not pissed at you, I can't make you study," you say, cupping his cheek with your hand. "I just...I have a lot going on right now"
"What, you got a secret boyfriend I don't know about?" He pouts, nuzzling into your hand. You chuckle. "I'm heartbroken, Y/N, I thought I was your only man."
"I don't have a secret boyfriend, the opposite actually-"
"A secret girlfriend?! Hot."
"No! What I mean is I...like a guy and...I don't know if he will ever like me back. Like, ever."
Eddie's face scrunches in confusion as he scrambles back up onto the edge of the bed next to you.
"Wait, seriously? Why didn't you tell me?" He sounds almost hurt, betrayed even.
"Because I-I don't know. It's been going on for so long now I guess I kinda just gave up hope." You sigh, looking down into your lap. Eddie hooks a finger under your chin, tilting your face up to look at him.
"Hey, Y/N, whoever this guy is, he doesn't know what he's missing out on, right? You're beautiful, the most beautiful girl in this damn town and if he can't see that then he's a total butthead."
You giggle. "A butthead?"
"The biggest of buttheads. Seriously, Y/N just tell him how you feel. Carpe diem, right?"
Your heart pounds as Eddie links his fingers with yours. Carpe fuckin' diem indeed.
"Right but...he's a friend, a really, really good friend and I don't wanna mess up what we have..." You trail off, your eyes flicking up to meet his. You swallow hard and lean in, pressing your lips to his before you had time to think about what a really fucking bad idea this was. Eddie freezes as your lips touch his and you immediately back off like you've been burned. "I'm so sorry," you blurt out, dropping his hands and springing off the bed, gathering your bag and practically sprinting out of the trailer to your car.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit," you mutter to yourself as you start the engine and pull away from the trailer, your tyres kicking up dust everywhere. "That was so stupid, so fucking stupid, oh my god."
You curse yourself all the way home, thinking of ways you can possibly avoid going to school tomorrow. Dysentery was still a thing, right? You head inside, barely saying hi to your family before running up to your room, locking the door and dropping face first onto the bed. Only this time, it didn't smell like Eddie, this room didn't give you the same comfort that his did. And now you've screwed everything up beyond repair. Why did you have to be so goddamn brave? Carpe diem?! Who the fuck were you?!?
"Fuck me." You groan into your pillow.
School tomorrow was going to suck.

why did you ask me out? (4)
Tumblr media
1 / 2 / 3 / chapter 4 - evil trance / 5
2.3K words
warnings - speedrun enemies to friends to lovers trope
summary - You and Chrissy are long-lost best friends that join sides to pull one over on the girls hoping to make you prom queen as a bet. Things don't always go to plan - sometimes you realize you're in love and sometimes the girls shoot back at you.
~~
1986. Senior Year.
You groggily push yourself up and stumble for just a second, you rush to Jason as quickly as your heels will allow and you shove him away from where he’s huddled Chrissy against the wall.
“Fuck off, man!” you shout, “She said you’re done, just leave!”
He goes to retort but then he sees Chrissy from over your shoulder. He shakes his head and points a finger in your face, “This isn’t over, freak.”
“Get out before I shove you out the fucking window,” you land a hard jab to his shoulder. There’s fear leaking through your veins but you refuse to let it show now, “Get the fuck out.”
Whether he’s actually threatened or not doesn’t matter when he’s shuffling out of the window anyhow.
“Oh my God,” Chrissy clings to your arm and leans so she can see into your eyes, “is your head okay?”
“Yeah, just need a minute,” you press your lips and grin when you remember the pink that litters them, “We got a prom to get to.”
“Are you sure?”
“We made a deal,” you turn and it takes restraint that even Saint Monica doesn’t know to not kiss her in front of the open window, “Let’s go so I can win or lose prom queen; and we win either way.”
Embarrassing Lily and Anne was now a far cry from the sweet victory of tonight, but it definitely works as a cherry on top.
1986. LAST WEEK.
“You guys going to prom?” Jeff asks after spotting student body president, Valeria Newman, and vice president, Claudia Green, hanging up a poster advertising ticket sales at lunch.
“For what? It’s not like we’re playing,” Eddie rolls his eyes, overly sick with the prom season fever after three years of it being shoved down his throat as a senior.
“I’m going,” Gareth actually smiles, though he tries hiding it by placing a hand over his mouth, “Kimmy asked me.”
“Yeah, I’m taking my girl, too,” Jeff doesn’t bother hiding his grin, “We’re going to her prom, though, so you’ll all have to go without seeing me in a suit.”
Grant shakes his head, “My mom’s taking us out of state for the weekend and we have to leave after school.”
Attention turns to you as you boredly knock the limp excuse for meat around the tray with your fork. You shrug, “Why would I?”
“For fun,” Gareth kicks at the toe of your shoe under the table, “You’re only a senior once, unless you’re Eddie.”
“Man,” he sighs but there’s an upturn to his lips, then he looks at you - pointing right in your face because he knows how much it annoys you, “Don’t fold and go, it’s overrated. I went my first two years and you know what happened?” you simply raise a brow and Eddie raises both hands in the air, “Nothing! Absolutely nothing, it was so fucking boring.”
“Well, did you have a date?” Grant asks.
“I know you people can get dates, but I’m not so gifted,” Eddie grins sardonically.
“Hey, nobody’s lining up to ask me either,” you huff, “I might just practice Master of Puppets again.”
“You’ve been practicing that nonstop,” Jeff sighs, “Just give prom a try. I know it’s not our scene, but do you really wanna be the kid that didn’t go and then wonders what could’ve happened?”
“I’ll go if somebody asks me,” you toss up your hands, “And not Munson, that’s a cop-out.”
“Fucked up, I was gonna make you prom queen,” Eddie glares at you and there’s a round of laughs from the table.
“What if you-know-who asks you?” Gareth raises his brows, “She’s going for sure.”
“Stop being so loud,” you throw a fry at Gareth’s head and shake your own, “also, no way that’s happening. You-know-who for sure has a date and hates me.”
“Doesn’t hate you,” Grant tries.
“Hasn’t tried talking to me in like four years,” you point out as Dustin and Mike finally take their seats at the table.
“Who hasn’t tried talking to you in four years?” Mike leans over to look at you from Dustin’s other side.
“Nobody,” you mumble, “The devil worshippers are trying to get me to go to prom.”
“Oh, you should,” Dustin places a hand on your arm, which you quickly shake off, “Suzie was visiting and we just watched Pretty in Pink, you’d love prom.”
“Pretty in Pink is a work of fiction and also Molly Ringwald is crazy hot,” you swat the boy’s arm, “Unrealistic, I say.”
Thank God for idiot boys because Mike and Dustin don’t notice your slip up in calling Molly Ringwald hot.
“You should go so you can actually have experience to base your hatred on,” Mike says in full support of Dustin, or perhaps simply in full support of pissing you off, “and then you can tell us, unbiased, if we should go.”
“Your sister is so much nicer than you, you know that?”
“Not when you’re related to her, but sure.”
“Fine, whatever,” you roll your eyes, “I’ll go if I’m really enticed, but that’s the only reason.”
Eddie’s uncharacteristically quiet and it leads you to look at him. His eyes are on the popular table, which is nothing new, but there’s nothing nasty beneath his gaze (his wide-eyed gaze, may you add). No rant waiting under his tongue. No spring under his chair ready to launch him onto the table. He leans forward to whisper to you,
“Don’t look now, but Cunningham is totally fuckin’ staring at you.”
1986. PROM.
“Ugh, dude, you didn’t tell me Jason was going as prom king,” you gag dramatically.
“Ugh, don’t call me ‘dude’,” Chrissy shoots right back.
Your hands shake slightly when you see the name. You’re trying to swallow it down. Pretend it isn’t happening, but every time you blink it’s still there. Low purple lights and ugly streamers and Chrissy’s hand on your thigh under the table. Your name next to Jason’s on the prom royalty ballot.
A guitar riff picks up from the band on stage (of which Eddie wouldn't waste two seconds saying would suck) - one you recognize instantly from years of Dustin making you and Eddie listen to it in the van.
Chrissy sits straighter at the sound, at the velvety voice of the lead singer. She turns to you, nodding as she quietly sings along, “Oh, Jessie’s got himself a girl and I wanna make her mine.”
“Oh, Jessie’s Girl,” you murmur, taking a quick swig of your punch and running your tongue over the sugary residue left on your teeth, “You can never be too on the nose.”
When can we get out of here?
“It’s fun,” Chrissy hums the tune, removing her hand from your thigh to grab a pencil and mark down you and Jason as prom royalty, “Soon.”
“Huh?”
“I know you,” she leans in to whisper to you, her lips just brushing the shell of your ear, “I know what you’re thinking - and soon. I promise.”
“God, Chris,” you turn to look her in the eyes even though you know how dangerous that is in public, “you sure know how to get to a girl’s heart.”
“Don’t even hafta try,” she giggles and leans over to vote yourself and Jason on your ballot as well, “Lie. I’m trying really hard right now, is it working?”
You watch her lean back in her seat. Strapped, ballet slipper pink trumpet dress on and pretty smile so easy to her lips. Chrissy Cunningham really has the nerve to ask if she’s found a way back into your heart - as if she ever left.
But you can’t say that, not when anyone could turn on you in the meandering swarm of students. Not when tonight is meant to be fun.
“Definitely,” you grin and scoot your chair closer to hers, the legs squeak against the linoleum, “As soon as this prom queen shit’s done - we’re out,” you make a show of biting your lip, nudging her arm and whispering, “I have so many years to make up with you.”
“Oh, really?” she gasps playfully, “How’re we gonna do that?”
“I’m thinking, stereotypical sleepover - makeover, pillow fights, all the works - and then we make out.”
“Yeah?” she tilts her head and you’re so smitten it’s almost laughable, “I think that sounds pretty great. Wanna use a face mask?” you nod and she chuckles, “I think I have a few I wanna try with you.”
“Wow, you saying I’m gross, Cunningham?” you glare teasingly.
“Don’t call me that,” she twirls a hanging framing hair around her finger and shakes her head, “And no, I’m not saying you’re gross.”
Anne Mark picks up the ballots in front of you two and Chrissy hopes you don’t notice the way she sneers at you so openly.
She’s always hated her friends, and now she feels free to live that truth. She won’t drown when she’s tossed overboard because you’re there.
You take Chrissy’s hand under the table and play with the gold rings that decorate her fingers. Meanwhile, Chrissy’s eyes train on Anne’s movements about the table. Haphazard and loose - ballots are crumbled and nearly torn. Lily and another girl - Tracy Cox, she thinks - are waiting at the counting table.
But they don’t count the ballots there.
Lily and Tracey move behind the curtains and she can see Lily already reaching into her purse for what looks like a stack of papers - just about the size of the ballots.
“I’ll be right back,” Chrissy stands and you almost whine when her hand slips out of yours.
“Come back soon?” you hate how needy you sound but there’s something undeniable about the way you crave her. An unending sweet tooth - a black hole.
“Yeah,” she pauses to flash you a bright smile, “I’ll be quick.”
Looking back on it, she should’ve just told you she was suspicious of Anne and Lily, but what is it they say about hindsight?
It’s 20/20.
You spot Eddie behind the gym bleachers. Just barely. His hair makes for a haunting silhouette that you couldn’t possibly mistake. You manage to catch his wild, frantic stare through the gaps in the benches and he waves excitedly at you.
Part of the gift in knowing Eddie is that you can tell what he’s thinking. It’s always a broad guess, but you know. Part of the gift in being Eddie’s best friend is seeing beneath the showmanship. It’s watching him wave you over and knowing he’s worried about you - like a mom watching her child play with the bigger kids, but all the bigger kids would gut you alive if given the opportunity.
So you go to him just to ease his worries.
You duck behind the bleachers and see him sat against the wall, open lunchbox of drugs between his spread legs.
You kick one of those spread legs, “Whore.”
“Nice to see you having fun,” his shoulders scrunch and he bats his eyes like a Hollywood schoolgirl.
Your back hits the wall and you slide down, your hands play loosely with the red-rose corsage Chrissy placed upon your wrist, “What’re you doing here, Munson? Thought prom was overrated.”
“It is,” Eddie turns to you and his hands fly up, then turn palm-down and he wiggles his fingers as he brings them back down, “Just here to watch you get Carrie’d.”
“Fuck off,” you jab your elbow into his arm, “I hope you get caught in my telekinetic psychotic snap.”
“I do, too,” he murmurs, nodding slowly to himself, “Great inspiration for a song.”
“Ass,” you reach up to pinch his cheek, “hole.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he bats you off, “No, Gareth ‘n’ his unlucky lady needed a ride and as much as I hate this shit,” he gestures loosely above the bleachers, “it’s a fucking jackpot for selling.”
Just as he says that, Patrick McKinney gets under the bleachers with a wad of cash in one hand and his bundled up overcoat in the other.
“I’ll leave you to it,” you pat Eddie’s shoulder and lean up to whisper in Patrick’s ear as you pass him, “Careful not to get stuck under his evil spell, then you’re really fucked.”
“I swear, it’s like you’re in some fucked up trance,” Lily’s glaring at Chrissy and if looks could kill then the cheer captain would have dropped dead two minutes ago, “Like, what? Are you two friends now?”
Chrissy shakes her head and the hatred builds in her gut until it refuses to pause in her jaw, “So what if we are? She’s a nice person,” and she can’t help but think to every time she bought from Eddie, “They all are. So yes, I’m friends with her.”
“I told you,” Anne sings, laying a hand to Chrissy’s shoulder, “She’s been turned.”
“You know she’s…” Lily doesn’t even want to finish the sentence, “Chris, we’re looking out for you.”
“You people have no idea what you’re talking about,” Chrissy crosses her arms, “You just assume the worst and never give anyone a chance, and if this ruins our ‘friendship’ then I’ll gladly accept that.”
“We were worried you’d say that,” Anne pouts histrionically, and suddenly - her hands clutch Chrissy by the shoulder.
Lily sighs, opening up the backstage storage closet while Anne strong-arms Chrissy into the dark room.
Chrissy bangs on the door, tries the handle, screams, bangs again, tries the handle, bangs some more, and continues shouting for help.
Nothing.
The music is turned up and the door must be jammed shut. Chrissy’s breathing shortens and her hands clam up. Her palms are going to bruise tomorrow with the vigor and speed with which she’s slamming them into the door.
As you climb up and out from the bleachers, principal Higgins is calling attention with the mic.
“Our prom royalty of the evening,” he smiles at the students and holds up a stack of ballots as if anyone could read them, “Jason Carver and…” he searches the crowd for you and tosses his arm out while calling your name, “King and queen of Hawkins High!”

Jimmy Fallon: *brings up the concert*
Joe, internally, probably: yes that was for Chrissy! Did you know Eddie had a crush on Chrissy, Jimmy? Let me say that now on national television - I think he did. That’s how I played it. The concert wasn’t about him or his feelings for her so much as it was avenging her as a person, but I do think they were certainly on the outskirts of falling in love.
Joe, internally, probably: Oh, you don’t wanna talk about Chrissy? You wanna tall about Metallica? They’re cool too, I guess… I’ve said that the forest scene is my favorite scene. Even more so than the concert…
Joe, internally, probably: All anyone wants to talk about is the concert. Master of Puppets. And I don’t see any money from its resurgence. BUT GO OFF I GUESS.
Joe, internally, probably: Yeah it was fun Gaten was there it was during the pandemic and it was the first live music anyone had in a while. What’s there to say? Now with Chrissy, there’s tons we can say…

Flood, rain & tornado!
Hiiiii Ash! Thank you so much for the ask! 🖤💖🖤💖
💧Rain - What's the most emotional scene you've ever written?
I think it's the overall theme of my Eddie Munson fic that plays along the lyrics of the Metallica song Master Of Puppets. Somehow it's the only real Eddie fic that ever left my brain and at the same time it's the longest fic I ever wrote with 4.7k words. I also never wrote friends to lovers before that fic and yeah, it ended up being really emotional because I was going through it as I wrote it.
🌪 Tornado - Who is your most impulsive character and why?
We all know it's Kappa, don't we? He's chaotic but with a certain kind of system behind it and I really love him because of that. He has his agenda and the rest is just utter insanity. Although, I gotta say that when I get around to writing a Samuel Lafferty fic he might be far up on that ranking, too 🤔🤭
💦 Flood - How many WIPs do you have?
About....30-ish.... I think? But quite a few of them are actually not WIPs but more like Works In Purgatory 😬 I have a rather anxious attachment style to writing if that makes any sense, because I like to ponder about ideas, let them marinate for a day or two, yes, but as soon as the timer for that is over I NEED to get the fic out because I start panicking about the possibility of losing interest in it and disappointing my dearly beloved readers 😞🤧

Okay, @aemiron-main ‘s got me thinking about music because of his fucking fantastic analysis right here- but now I’m thinking about what music actually came out in the 80’s
And SLIPPERY WHEN WET BY BON JOVI CAME OUT IN 1986 !!!!!!!! I am seething. What was the reason that even just one of those god damn songs wasn’t used in a way that I can remember it? Like the bangers that came out of that album: Living on a Prayer, Wanted Dead or Alive, You Give Love a Bad Name- and none of them were put in a scene that is memorable?
I am listening to Enter Sandman right now and I know why they used master of puppets but like. Vecna’s thing is dreams right? RIGHT???? Like there was so much potential here too and the fucking guitar in this one make any brain spin around in circles- and master of puppets just does not have the same vibes (at least how the show goes about using it)- like master of puppets is one of those songs that’s good but it’s like you’re waiting for it to get up to level one hundred and stay there and then it never does (in Strnager Things)- not like Nothing Else Matters does because that has a satisfying end to it. But master of puppets doesn’t go hard enough for long enough (IN STRANGER THINGS- I just realized why I didn’t like master of puppets and it’s because I couldn’t make it through the whole song because the way st did it made it boring- or at least not to what I could’ve been)
Like yeah it does have a lot of guitar (or bass idk in just going off strings and vibes man) and it comes on pretty strong but it just feels like somethings missing the whole time, okay? I don’t know it just feels like we’re building to something that we never get too because we’ve been at the highest level the whole time. (It does start at level 100 and then in the middle of the song slows down and then does like lvl 200- but not the way we hear it in the ep) And that does actually work really well with the last episode and how everything goes to shit.
Because they go in with everything they have and it isn’t enough. And the best part of Master of Puppets (or at least the part where it feels like we’re getting into it) is halfway through the damn song and it’s not in the fucking episode. Like? I would have remembered if Eddie I would have remembered if- wait a second did they fucking skip- give me a sec here I’ve gotta watch that shit back because they did not- wait one god damn fucking second here. (And this is where I realized what they did) They didn’t. Because yeah they can’t just have the whole thing (it’s a long song) but they didn’t just take out the best parts. They didn’t. (Also the laughing starts at 8:15 exactly at the end of the song and the guitar cuts out lol)
Holy shit they did.
They moved the guitar riff up to like the 3:00 minute mark and made it way too fucking early for the tone of the song to even begin to play out. Like that’s why it feels like we’re not done here and like we’re reaching for something we never get too because they move up the best part to way too early and it throws everything off.
Like Eddie isn’t even playing over the correct part, they could’ve cut around and messed with stuff but they actually had him play over the wrong part.
So like they’re doing this wrong and it’s even shown in how Eddie’s messing with Master of Puppets because they’re too early, and now it’s too late to turn back.
And they still haven’t given us a song that goes hard (in the way that it’s supposed to)
